starting to take some shape I SUPPOSE.

Literally has done more detailwork than I've ever done on one piece before.

Things never end up like they look in my head- so 'some shape' is accurate haha. I still have a long ways to go, but thank you!
Well it certainly looks it anyways, lolol. I'm usually too lazy to make hair like that.
I mean, when does art ever turn out the way it first looked in our heads? Keep up the good work x)
So, I started this a while ago..... wanted to redraw an old 2013 piece, and, yeah... What you think so far?

looks great so far! Love the dark shading on the face.
Apparently, I said the wrong date for the old piece... But was off by a year... ish XD it was actually done in 2014, but yeah :p
Did some more to the art too... But mostly just dulled the shininess.... shineyness? :? Shininess.... :P XD 
sometimes one just wants to draw something generic and boring.

Looks really cool so far! It's been a while since I painted something up in greyscale then added color later. (I don't think deeply enough to employ that tactic. Monkky throw colors at canvas then worry about shadows later.)

I personally think working in monochromes is easier when it comes to lighting and sculpting. It's mostly just a personal preference though. I like to use monochromes when I'm not entirely sure about what the colours are going to be, makes it easier to make changes if needed.

Oh definitely. I think it really allows you to go in-depth in your lighting choices and overall just... really helps with making really textured, detailed-looking pieces. Without having to also worry about colors at the same time. Like... it really helps give that cool 'painted' look that a lot of your stuff tends to have.
I LIKE doing it but I usually just.... never think of doing it when I'm actually making something.
Working on a request. Haven't had my tablet out for a while. I'm a little rusty, but as I look through my DA account, I'm seeing a style kinda popping out. And I'm super excited!!! This was the WIP as of yesterday afternoon. Might post the final when it's done!

hmmm. so i haven't actively drawn in months (or longer, really. i mostly only sketch every few weeks ever since i've been in college), so i'm super rusty at everything.
still a huge WIP, but not tooo upset with it so far? his neck was too thin, so i changed that, but i have to work on broadening his shoulders and i'm also working on fixing his shirt collar since i mostly put that there to get an idea of placement and it's.... off. but it's fun to try to get back into the groove and hopefully i'll slowly improve again.
the forum seems to keep flattening/distorting the image if i make it too big, so here's a link to the picture to see it better :v

thanks :D i fixed the shoulders slightly right before posting the picture, so they aren't as bad as before, so they might just still seem a bit off to me because of the wonky collar, but i'll see if it looks better to me once i fix that area xD
Honestly the collar just needs to be moved over a smidge, then it should be technically fine
None too shabby for being out of practice! Always gotta appreciate still being able to make a tired anime boy. Arguably better than the humans I currently do. Janky collars are very relateable. At the very least... you could just say his shirt is just pulled over at a wonky angle on him right now x')
thanks! i was definitely going for a slightly tired/irritated look, mostly because i love drawing eyebrows and i feel they're the most fun to figure out on broodier looking characters.
haha, after seeing the collar, i really realized i need to use a reference. even when i was more in practice, anything below the neck is always hard for me :'D to google i go!
Awwww hehehe. Yes. Mildly angry people are fun to draw. (Though I could be biased because I love cranky characters in general.)

I struggle with all elements of humans, so you're very much not alone in this. People anatomy be WONKY. I think his neck looks nice so that's good. I don't see issues in the shoulders either.

And thanks XD You have no idea how hard it was to get that post for Killieh, was using race horse riders as reference since their saddles seemed to match the dragon's saddle the best... But man it was struggle XD

I can imagine, but honestly that is such a great idea! I've always wanted to draw mounted dragons but lord knows I can never get proportions right, muchless human noodle limbs to work the way skeletons intend.
