When did Pouncer start replacing your dragon in the lab?
So I was messing around with a newer viking. Spesificly one I mad during last year's snoggletog event but then left alone untill the inspiration to come back to expansion replay struck me.
This viking has a bit of an unusual dragon lineup. A flightmare from the origanal viking start dragon rescue, a Dreadstrider bought during the select an egg bit to be that egg instead of a typical dragon (because I'd wanted to see if that was a thing that still worked). And she has a chimaragon and a gold dragon from the event she was born from. (Yes...making this charicter was expensive. Almost regretibly so...but I have her now and it is what it is. It was that whooly howl flightsuit. I thought it looked harpyish in a sort of owl dragon sence just as much as it looks like a wooly howl. And with the weapons made of ice a totally ice themed viking idea struck me. NorthernHarpy.)
Anyway...I don't know if it's my lack of a firebreathing dragon or what (the chimaragon breaths fire but only sometimes so maybe the game considers it not one? I dunno. Anyway...) during the lab quests instead of any of my dragons it's Pouncer.
Young Pouncer spesificly. Don't get me wrong, his animations are quite funny. When he pulls the water thingy he litterally grabs it with his whole body before falling off it after the pull.
But is this intentional to cut down on the animations the devs have to do or something? Like...is this happening to anyone else?
If you ask for when specifically it's around January. Brynjolf made a post about it too. Idk why Pouncer out of the triplet specifically but having him to cut down future animation for all dragons is a plausable guess. or they might just want to have a single but quality representation/show case of animation for the lab.
I've never been able to decide how I feel about them replacing your dragon with Pouncer. On the one hand, I understand if they needed to have a "permanent lab assistant" to cut down on animations, but on the other hand, it feels like your dragon should be the one helping you out. You're supposed to be bonding with your dragon and your dragon helping you out is cute to me.
I agree. The amount of work that goes into events must be quite a lot. They have to come up with plot ideas, make the quests, animate the cut scenes, make all the different prizes, make the mazes(for the events that have them), ect. It's a lot of work.
I liked the fact that there were several mystery boxes as prizes too. I also liked the fact that there were more prizes. There was a lot less of a gap between prizes this time and it felt more rewarding for all the work put in. The increased currency you get from doing the different stuff for currency helped too since the amount to get the dragon was higher this time.
Ah I see. So it is purposeful then. ...In that case there's some dialog that could use editing. Spesificly things still refer to it as your dragon even when you don't have Pouncer.
Part of the reason I wanted to know for sure that it wasn't a glitch.
