Because i have yet to see what they do, and i have mostly seen some clans arguing so far on forums? If this gets to any clan leaders or member please fill me in on some of its benefits :3?

Hello arctic fox!

In short, Clans are basically like a sports teams.

Each clan will have:

  • One leader for decision making
  • Some elders to maintain the clan
  • and many members.

The ranking of the clans are based on the no.of trophies the clan players earn. These trophies are earned by either Thunder run racing, or by Fireball frenzy.

If you're looking for joining a clan which suits you the best, there are numerous of clans in the game with different requirements and qualifications from members. you can find some of their recruitment here:

http://forum.schoolofdragons.com/forums/community/barracks-valhalla

Benefits of the clans are:

  • It'll give you new friends and family
  • Helps you to improve your skills in game
  • Let you be active and focused
  • And, if there's any clan tournament, You can work with your clan to win the prize.

My suggestion to you is to choose your clan wisely. Once you chose your clan, it should become your family. Many good clans expect their members to be loyal to them. So they wont find it nice to change clans day by day. Read every clan's thread. Choose a clan which is best for you. Have a wonderful gaming along with your clanmates.

If you still have any doubts, you can find a pretty detailed description about clans here:

http://forum.schoolofdragons.com/content/what-you-need-know-about-clans

Hope this helps :)

This isn't the only thing clans can be! A somewhat totalitarian definition of a clan but there are many structures that a clan can be made of instead of having one "central" leader. You can have fun clans where everyone is equal and just plays for fun, and decision making is done by all members as a whole!

I object to this, a Viking should have the choice of pick on which clan he/ she may wish to stay at, clans which expect 100% loyalty should not be the type of clans you should be looking at but clans which support the decision of the individual viking no matter what, even if that includes going a different way. You never know whether the clan you pick is the right choice or not.

Ehm. I do know there are many structures that a clan can be made. but pointing out all of the structure will take me atleast a whole day. and even if I did, it wont cover each and every structure. I just pointed out the general structure of how the clans run.

and decision making can only be done by the leader. maybe the members can give suggestions, but since each member wont have the same pov, the leader must be the one in charge of decision making.

I agree, the viking should have the choice of picking his own clan. but jumping around the clans is not appreciated around here. I just pointed out the expectations of most of the clans. I do disagree in the point that "You'll never know whether the clan you pick is right choice or not"

we can know which clan suits us. Every clan's terms, conditions, requirements, expectations, rules and regulations are very clearly stated in their clan threads. if we're wise enough, we can choose our clan perfectly.

You mean the expectation of most leaders? The clan is just a name and symbol that Vikings rally behind.

There is nothing wrong about the leaders to expect their clan members to be loyal to their clans.

"The clan is just a name and a symbol that vikings rally behind"

Pardon me, but I do see that as a insult for the clans out here. even in your review about your clan tour, I remember you saying that the clans are running as family. then I dont understand what is it that you're expecting to tell us with your point.

No, there isn't. It's fine when the Viking individual makes the concious decision to stay and affirm full loyatly, but when that member is conflicted with the choice of wanting to leave and the requirement of loyalty, that's when it is wrong. As i said before, a Viking should have full choice of decision.

A clan has no right on forcing the viking to stay unless that viking is ok with it.

Prehaps if you read my review again and actually visited the clans like i did, you'll notice that the only clan in which i specified to act like a family was "The Phantom Lords".  All other clans have had a very relaxed and "chill" atmosphere and didn't seem to enforce the 100% loyalty rule upon joining.

On another note, i am seeing this from a realist point of view and not a metaphorical point of view, again, a clan is just a name and a symbol that vikings rally behind.

This discussion will probably spark some flames but I will voice my opinions based on my ideas and beliefs, otherwise i am conforming myself to what other people think.

I agree. The viking have the choice of their decision. and if you read my comments again, I'm just pointing out the clans are Expecting their members to be loyal. They're not locking their members inside. Besides, if the viking wants to leave the current clan, there's nothing the clan or the leader can do at that point.

I apologize that I didnt visited the clans like you did. I dont want to leave or abandon my home clan just because I got bored or I want to know and tell the others on how the other clans are working. and, on other hand, as I said before in another thread, Each and every clan has its own morals and rules. Demanding 100% loyalty or not is their decision. we should not say others to how to run their clan. besides, i dont see any clans are forcing the members to join. They clearly explained that whether they want their members to be loyal or not.

I find that statement to be very hypocritical due to the fact that i was not permitted to visit the Snow Leopards because i was not able affirm my loyalty. This picture for example.

You are proving my arguement correct here.

I dont think "Hypocritcial" is the right word to use there. Snow leopards didnt demanded their members to stick with the clan once after they joined. Every member who joined SL by far knows clearly that they have to be loyal to the clan. They accept that fact and joined the clan and still proving their loyalty by far. That's the reason Snow leopards are doing great at the tournament times.

and,

There is one main reason we didnt let you to visit Snow Leopards:

  1. We realize that you'll leave the clan in between a couple of weeks. As I said in the picture, we, Snow leopards value loyalty as one of the important quality for the viking who wants to come inside the clan. No Exceptions. since we know pretty sure that you'll leave, letting you in will be doing injustice for our clan's terms.

It is not the decision of the leader, but the decision of the entire clan.

Besides, Even after all this tight qualifications, there are a couple of members who left SL after joining. We didn't do anything about that. we do realize that it is their decision to stay in or not. so we just wished them goodluck that they finally found the clan suits them.

Can you not see the massive discrepancy in what you are saying? You are saying Snow Leopards doesn't enforce loyalty to the clan, yet in the picture, it clearly shows you do as evident of my denied entry.

Are you even reading the original arguement? This has nothing to do with your clan or the tournament.

"I object to this, a Viking should have the choice of pick on which clan he/ she may wish to stay at, clans which expect 100% loyalty should not be the type of clans you should be looking at but clans which support the decision of the individual viking no matter what, even if that includes going a different way. The members of Snow Leopards, clearly want to stay, that is fine, absolutely no problem.  My arguement is that when the leader of any particular clan gets peeved because a member leaves, then that in my eyes is wrong. Like i said in the quote above, The leader/ Clan should support the decision of the individual viking no matter what, even if that includes going a different way.

I do not see how you "took offence" to this when it had nothing to do with the Snow Leopards, i was offering my views and opinions to help another Viking make a informed decision on the choice of clan he/ she may wish to stay at.

If you read my comment more clearly, you might understand something. yes, we snow leopards demand loyalty, I admit. but in the comment, I only said Snow Leopards doesnt force their members to stick with the clan after they joined. we told every applicant clearly that Loyalty is valued very strictly in this clan before we let them in, just like we told you.

Your entry was denied only because we know for pretty sure that you'll leave.

Asvald Veleif wrote:

Yes I was. I was talking on behalf of the all the clans untill you dragged Snow Leopards into this by that picture.

I dont see anything wrong with the clan peeved of the member abandoning the clan just to get to the best clan. I agree, every members has their own right to leave or stay in the current clan. but its the nature of evey clan to get upset when a member who was believed to be the part of the family, just abandoned it to get to the better place.

They should and do, but a lot of clan leaders do get offended if a viking jumps from clan to clan daily or even every other day. The meaning behind what Hattori said is vikings should try to find one clan that they'll stick with for a while. I personally do get slightly shocked and offended when a viking joins my clan and then leaves the very next day.

I strongly object to THIS

Clans aren't just about TROPHIES! They're about teamwork, and friendship. Think about it. In your clan, you make friends right? So that's friendship in a clan for ya. Now teamwork. Teamwork is about working together with your clan mates. For example: there's achievements you ALL achieve together right? You WORK TOGETHER to earn trophies for your clan. So teamwork for  you.

A clan isn't just about it's RANKING or it's LEADER. It's about the PEOPLE that are in the clan. Would you just join the top clan because it's the best? Would you do that just to earn whatever achievements they have? Would you jus enter the top clan (I'm sorry idk who it is...) because they win clan tournaments, they have the greatest numbe of trophies, and they earned many achievements? I know I won't. So now do you think the clan's ranking and leader is what you consider when joining a clan?

To me, joining a clan is joining a family. And in that family you make friendships and stick by each otherwise like brothers and sisters would. You would stand up for your siblings wouldn't you? It's the same thing in a clan. Sure there's a leader and many elders but does your place really count? Do you join the family that is the best just for the sake of joining it?

Clans seem easy to overlook, but if you really think about it, is a clan really that easy to maintain(if you're leader/elder)? No. It is, in fact, very hard to do so. Why? Because even in a family, there are disputes, disagreements, fights. Am I right? Those clans who have a high ranking, I respect you all. You deserved it, from my perspective. But the top clans, SL, BAS/BAR, The Dragon Racers, Flame Wings, and even my own clan, Diamond Storm, do remember. Your clan members are only loyal to you, when you treat them with as much respect as you wish to have. You can demand courtesy, but you have to earn respect. The clans in top 10 ranking, bear that in mind. However, also reflect on your actions. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. You make mistakes as a leader/elder/member, learn from your mistakes and don't let history repeat itself.

Don't let all this get to you head though. When you join a clan, join it for its tight relationship, and it's rules that you like. Don't just join top clans because they are so good, join them for the clan's character (don't judge. Clans have a character too!). If you are a member, do your best to serve your clan. Be competitive inside your clan, and help your clan. Elders, I too, respect you greatly for you have been chosen by your leaders to help manage the clan. Serve your clan(family) with respect, and integrity. Don't be afraid to admit your wrongs. Admit your wrongs, learn from them. And leaders of clans, be it a low ranking one, or a high ranking one, I wish you the best of luck with your clan. Just because your members may be very trying, deal with the problem cooly. And when I mean cooly don't just tell them "stop fighting," and then done. Solve the problem WITHOUT getting angry or shouting at your members.

Then for me, I myself have a clan. Though I'm an elder, I'm no different from anyone. I only have a responsibility to do in the clan.

For those who have no clans, I suggest you try finding a clan on the forums. Though, clans on the forums do demand a high amount of trophies (most of the time). I you want a place reserved for you, then work hard and striv towards your first goal: get into a clan you like!

ive had my say, but I wish to hear other people's feedback to clans. (This is from my perspective. DONT say that applies to everyone because it DOESNT)

A tribute to Hiccup of HTTYD, who would never have achieved anything if he'd obeyed the unjust authority figures in his life. If he'd 'stayed put' like he was commanded at the beginning of the story by his father/Gobber, he would never have met Toothless, and would've probably been killed in dragon training. Instead he refuses to obey- he runs from the ideals of his father and what it means to be a 'traditional Viking', and ends up changing an entire society's outlook in the process. To the Phantoms watching this who are losing hope that we can change the fate of SoD, remember that "running is a victory"- even taking the smallest stand against authority (like sneaking out the back door in Hiccup's case) can have powerful, unforeseen consequences. We have to keep fighting, even if we can't see the end of the road right now.  Roar Phantoms!     by Art

Jeez... Talk about not arguing...

You guys-_-

All the clans are as diferent as the people in there.

Artic Fox, even though there are a lot of weird and hard things in the clans ( especially the top ones-_-) and a lot of arguing...

I'd still recomend you to join one. It really is fun:)

But I'm talking about my experience in Fearless.

Before it I was in a bunch of diferent clans as well. And it all was diferent. Some clans were really good but then they just stoped existing. Some were, well, weird... And one of them, actually kicked me out after te first weak.

As you see it takes time, but when you'll find the right clan you'll know:)

Your entry was denied only because we know for pretty sure that you'll leave.

As my arguement said, which i will type again for the third time,

"I object to this, a Viking should have the choice of pick on which clan he/ she may wish to stay at, clans which expect 100% loyalty should not be the type of clans you should be looking at but clans which support the decision of the individual viking no matter what, even if that includes going a different way. You never know whether the clan you pick is the right choice or not."

Again, your arguement is inconsistant, you are essentially backing up the aforementioned statement.

"So you can only come in if you want to stay and become the part of the clan". - From the image.

My advice to Artic Fox was that if so he choses to join a clan, he should consider the the many options, should it be a clan he would join just for a fun?, Or a clan in which he would affirm his loyalty to.

Of course there are more than just 2 options but these seem to be the most common at this point in the game.

You dont have to post it again and again for three times. if you didn't noticed yet, your arguement has been already answered.

"I agree, the viking should have the choice of picking his own clan. but jumping around the clans is not appreciated around here. I just pointed out the expectations of most of the clans. I do disagree in the point that "You'll never know whether the clan you pick is right choice or not"

we can know which clan suits us. Every clan's terms, conditions, requirements, expectations, rules and regulations are very clearly stated in their clan threads. if we're wise enough, we can choose our clan perfectly."

From the top ^

Again, I didn't pointed out my voice on your above mentioned arguement. This is what I gave my comment about:

Hattori wrote:

Asvald Veleif wrote:

Can you not see the massive discrepancy in what you are saying? You are saying Snow Leopards doesn't enforce loyalty to the clan, yet in the picture, it clearly shows you do as evident of my denied entry.

Your entry was denied only because we know for pretty sure that you'll leave.

from the top ^

My suggestion to Arctic fox. Choose your clan wisely. Once you chose your clan, it should become your family. many good clans expect their members to be loyal to them.  So they wont find it nice to change clans day by day. Read every clan's thread thoroughly. Choose a clan which is best for you. Have a wonderful gaming along with your clanmates!

Yes, it has but you keep deviating from it. My arguement is simple and concise.

Loyalty to a clan should be thoroughly thought through, especially for clans that value it as a criteria for entry. If you are unable to provide such loyalty, a better option would be to roam around until you can find a clan in which you will decide to stay at.

Actually, I'm not deviating. I'm only answering your points by far. one cannot deviate from an arguement after it's over.

I do agree with you in that point. Players who needs a clan should go through the Clan's policies thourougly and choose a clan which suits them the most before entering it. For a fact, that's what I'm pointing out from the beginning.

Guys...

Timeout guys. I don't care who is in the right or who is in the wrong but it is a bit too shameful arguing like this is public... I don't want to sound pushey and tell you what to do, but please. If you want to do any further arguing, PMs will do. Whatever you guys want to do with YOUR clans, it doesn't concern me. Anyone who likes those conditions, join and those who don't, won't join. Please don't chide me for posting this it isn't meant to hurt anyone. :( I feel so bad for needing to tell me family off... Just please stop argueing over this clan matter, please...

Um, just so you'd know, we already did. It isn't necessary to stop again. Besides, there's nothing here to be ashamed of. I haven't seen any opinions or arguments that ended up in a more mature way like this, thanks to asvald. And also, its not an serious argument. Just pointing out both our opinions on the clans. So no need to worry about anything.

They were not arguing.  They just love to debate each others opinions.

We do hope you find your right clan that fit who you are and what you want out of the game.  PM does mean private messaging, but only on the forum not in the game.  You will see where people names are on the right handside, it says send PM (private message).  Click on it and it will put that person into the TO: area.  The you can write your message.  Go luck and see around.
