Hey! =D
Well , Shockjaws are amazing racers. They are almost in Toothless level. But , there is a shortcut in that track  ,and it is considered backwards racing , it's not legit. You go up a wall , and then you go back and then you go back on track , which makes the direction pointer , think that the player made a lap.
If , in the beginning of the race they were going up a wall , then they were doing it. If not , it's because Shockjaws are great in acceleration , and that makes them go really ahead of the others;
And yes if possible give me their names , maybe I can recognize one of them!
For the Skrill situation , if it was going in one direction and it wouldn't let you control it , that happens to me a lot. There's any way that a hacker can move your dragon like that.
What browser are you using?

I am using Firefox on MAC.

I found on You Tub some Viedeos showing this backwards Shortcut and tried this way in single mode. There are two jumps, first right at the start of the track. And yes, you set in backwards.

I would never use such ways in race! I don't like cheating like this.

The second Jump I did not managed. But I think this could be the way, the cheaters, which I noticed, had used. Because they fly backwarts in last part of the track, get a trap box a leave it there.

I will send you the names using PM. ok?

Yes, your English was

Yes, your English was understandable :D.  It could just be because Shockjaws are great racers.  IMO, Snow Wraiths (for some reason, it's actually pretty illogical if u think about it XD) are the only dragons that are better in TRR (Note: I said this was my opinion, it's possible you may disagree with that and I'm fine with that, just please be respectful about it and not go "OH my gersh Tooth is so much better I mean D.errr!"  Thank U :D).  The shortcut is a Backwards shortcut.  They usually allow u to win, but don't use them.  They are not legit and are pure cheating.  It's not right to use them, and lots of ppl will hat.e u for using them if u do.  If they are going against a wall at the beginning, that probably means they are using the backwards cheat (I'm pretty sure someone else posted about this).  Their names would be helpful if they were using the cheat, I have raced a lot of racers so it's possible I will know them.  As for the control issue, IDK if hackers can do that or not.  I have had that issue as well though, just try refreshing the page (If there are five or less total players, I would recommend that you stay until the end so you don't lose as many trophies.  if there are six total though, it doesn't really matter unless you are VERY far ahead of 6th place).  If this doesn't work, you can try PMing the admins about it.

Do you know a way to make your Race-Dragon happy without leaving Thunderrun?

And that's intellectuall with 4 Ls...yes

((This is REALLY late, so you may or may not be seeing this, sorry))

Yes they are XD.

I've noticed that the happiness doesn't really matter, so I wouldn't worry about it.  However, some ppl will debate this and say it does matter, but there's not a way to make 'em happy without leaving, sorry.

So , I tought I would make a list of people who you shouldn't race with. It may be a shooter , hacker...I'll put the motive after their name.

Users:

VeryPiccy - She does backward racing , I've raced with her one time.
xxxIcyFrostxxx - She is not hacker or backwards racer , but she shoots a lot.
Julilavigne - She uses the shortcut that is backwards. (Provided by Thunderdrake Devastacia )

If you have any other user I could put in this list , please do a separated post from this.

Do Not Reply , I will need to edit.

*burps* Long Post Alert

Look guys.
The developers added speed boosts and traps into the game for a reason- for them to be implimented.

If you don't want someone to speed boost past you, blast them with a fireball as soon as they get in front of you. It negates their speed boost, unlimately causing them to waste it. May I also point out that if you use a speed boost before the finish line, the speed "rolls-over" to the next race, granting you a nice little speed boost in the beginning of the next race. This again can be cancelled with a quick, nicely timed fireball to the tail.

If you you don't want a trap in the face, don't fly in the exact same flight path as someone else. Fly a bit above or below them. Does that sometimes mean you have to miss the speed ring? Yes. Does that also mean you avoid the gas cloud they just put inside the speed ring? Also yes. I'm not going to just let my traps rot because someone else might be close enough to lick my dragon's tail. You put yourself in that position, and will pay the consequences for it. Sorry not sorry.

Dropping traps in small spaces is using the track to your advantage. My personal favorite is a gas cloud in the tunnel of Fortune Falls, lol

/speaks in news chopper voice

"Looks like we have a 4 dragon pile up in the southwest tunnel here, Alan. Racers should expect heavy congestion and traffic for at least 10 seconds afterwards. Back to you, Alan."

Being fired at doesn't bother me either. I'm a fantastic racer, and can easily gain my position back (if I lost it at all) within seconds. Hence where speed boosts come into play. You see, I enjoy being fired at for the sake of being able to use that marvelous shield + boost combo. It not only gives you a huge gap advantage, but being hit with the shield at such speed blasts the person who fired at me out of the way and into a wall. Oops. Shouldn't be firing at people just because they're better than you, huh?

TL;DR
If you're easily offended by people using traps when racing, don't race me.
I'm a ruthless, cold-hearted jerk

Every track has a different style, and I've noticed that certain dragons do better than others.
Here's just a quick little review of the tracks based on my experiences:

= Popular, Game-Ending Shortcut(s) on this track

= Beware of Backwards Glitch Racing

Fortune Falls:
A basic, straight-forward track. A nice straightway and a few turns. Watch out for traps in the first tunnel, because people like me like to leave them there. Lulz. Skrills and Stormcutters do marvelously here.

Gronkle Run:
Because I'm assuming you are going to be using the shortcuts on this map, pitch is what you need here. The steep incline leading up to the first shortcut along with the equally steep decline can really do a number on dragons with a low pitch stat. Low pitch dragons will usually hit the wall, making the shortcut pretty much useless as the other dragons will have passed you by the time you regain speed. Although you want a nice pitch, there are also a few straight ways that faster dragons can gain speed on, so I recommend a dragon with decent stats is both pitch and top speed. I personally use my Sand Wraith for this track, but Toothless and the Shockjaw work just as well.

Trench Dive:
A long straightway followed by some corners. Similar to Fortune Falls, a dragon with multiple strong suits works well here. A Sand Wraith or Snow Wraith will be right at home in this snowy canyon.

Frozen Warriors:
Again, I will be giving advice on the shortcuts. Turning is a big plus here, as the second shortcut all depends on the timing of the turn. One half second late and you've hit a wall.  Being able to make this turn quickly and efficiently will secure you a decent placement. Shockjaws, Sand Wraiths, and Toothless work very well here.

Wooly Canyon:
Turning, turning, TURNING. This track is all about tight, crisp turns, so choose a dragon that has a high turn stat. Speed is not key here, and even slower dragons can lap others by shaving off seconds from turning time. I suggest the Rumblehorn, Nadder, Gronkle, Hotburple, or Smokebreath.

Forbidding Ice:

The mother of all straightways, this track is wonderful for fast, top-speed dragons. Lots of room allows even the bulkiest dragon to fly unhindered (that's right, I'm looking at you, Typhoomerangs and Nightmares.) This track allows you to hit your top speed with little to stop you, and dragons like Toothless and the Skrill can easily place even without the use of speed rings. Beware though- this track is notorious for Speed Boost use, so if you're triggered by SB usage, stay away from this track.

Racing Musts:
For the competitive racer, these dragons are essential:
Shockjaw, Toothless, Sand Wraith, Skrill, Smokebreath
I've never used a Snow Wraith personally, but from what I've seen, they're strong competetors. Other options include the Whispering Death and Thunderdrum.

Trophy Dragons:
Much like a trophy wife, the following dragons are nice to look at, but leave much to be desired when it comes to applicable skill. These dragons aren't very impressive during the race, but if you want to look good while you take 5th place, be my guest.
Fireworm Queen, Typhoomerang, Boneknapper, Changewing

Unmentioned Dragons:

Any dragons unmentioned in the two sections above I've either not raced with, or fall into the "decent enough" category. They're either "meh" at racing, or I've just never bothered to try them out.

Yes. But one thing is place
Yes. But one thing is place the traps , and other thing is being a complete idiot. Knowing that the person is behind you , and then put every trap in their faces is completely idiot.
It gives you an advantage that you didn't deserve , because you didn't used skill to reach it. If you have a strategy in placing it , then fine.

I didn't knew about that roll-over thing. Meh. It won't help me much , because I only use boots in the finish line if someone is in front of me unfairly. Well , forget. People are such jerks in racing , I'm pretty sure it will come in handy , thank you for that!

Yup. I like to do that shield thing as well. ;)
If they want to be first place , then work more to get it.

Thanks for leaving tips! :D

Gee, thanks for the insult.
I don't think I'm a idiot; I think the person following me that close is an idiot.
I deserve that advantage because I clearly know how to use traps to gain said advantage. My "strategy" is to get you away from me by dropping a trap in your face.

If you can't handle the various usage of traps, don't race.
Or like, don't follow me that closely. Like I said, I'm not going to let my traps rot because people ride my tail. If you can't regain speed after being hit with one box, you are the bad racer. Not me.

I wasn't trying to call you

I wasn't trying to call you idiot , sorry.
Dropping gas and boxes in other's face is not cool and not fair (unless that person did the same to you). But that's what I think. I won't judge you for it. I wasn't trying to call you idiot , if that's what you think.
I mean , after all , I asked if people could respect my opinion. So I need to do the same.

I'm so sorry.I didn't meant to insult you.

Haha, it's always funny for

Haha, it's always funny for me when ppl drop a box or something on my face.  If I race em again, I use my Snow Wraith and beat them XD.

Anyways, I myself don't (or at least try not to) drop a box right on someone.  To me at least, it's unfair, and it really just makes racing annoying.  Gas isn't too bad, but boxes are.  Sometimes u only spin for a second and it doesn't really matter, but then sometimes u spin for like 5 seconds (yes, this has happened to me before) and u can't catch up very easily (well...u can if you're on a snow wraith #OP).

Oh well though, I guess everyone has different opinion.

My Own Tips.
  • Always slow down before sharp turns. If you go too fast, you'll probably end up crashing onto a wall and, as a result, drastically slow down. You can bypass this by slowing down before maneuvering, or you can get a dragon with a very good hover.
  • Do not use power-ups. Placing power-ups can just decrease speed, and can also wipe dust onto your sanity. If you place them in places where you pass frequently, you'll most likely fall for your own trap.
  • Use boosts, but not too often. You can use boosts, but always implement a limit wherein you use them (e.g. You were shot at, You are too far behind last place, etc.) And if you ever use boosts, you should use them in sections where the track is leveled out or straight.
  • Get a cheap saddle. Yep, only use the cheap ones. Yes, they only add a few percent of speed, but at least they contribute. Most of the time, the amount of speed and maneuverability are labeled as "higher" in expensive saddles, but mostly, they're only the same.
  • Practice hard and religously. Self explanitory.
  • Always have fun. Also self-explanitory.

What amazing tips! Thank you
What amazing tips! Thank you so much! :)

I do basically the same as you here in the boosts - if someone shoots me , or gets in front of me will be boosted with boxes , gas and a boost for me to get in front of them.

Btw , have you raced with any cheater or hacker? If so , tell me their names so I can add to the list of persons that you shouldn't race with :D

Hm... I think she's the only backwards racer I've raced with...

=)

Spacebar - Don't EVER EVER release the spacebar.. no matter what happens. just DON'T.

Sharp Turns - Stay to the walls as close as you can and do sharp turns. The REAL SHARP TURNS, the ONE without releasing your spacebar.

Acceleration - Have problems with your Razorwhip/WoollyHowl/Skrills? or want to increase your acceleration more? DIVE just after the COUNTDOWN, it gives you more acceleration than your dragon has.

Bump - Don't stay too close to Snow Wraiths or Toothless' they will bump anyone and will lead your dragon out of control.

OWN OPINION

If you want to be known as a great racer and want to have alot of friends inside of trr don't use boxes, shoot, gasses, and boostsUNLESS if someone does it to you.
