Sorry for the delay again.  Writers block and being busy.  But last week when this happened, the chapter was pretty good.  So maybe this is a good thing.

Hope you guys enjoy this chapter!

Author note:  Hey GoldenFury.  I talked a little bit about the history of the Shadow dragon.  I may have gotten a few things wrong, I want the details to be correct.  So if you find something that isn't correct or needs changed, could you please point it out to me?

Thoughts of Guilt

Chapter 15

Searching For Answers

Everyone marveled at her “new” dragon.  Anora was new to us, but not new to Annabeth, obviously.  Everybody talked to Annabeth about Anora and when she first got her.

After she had told the story, I suggested, “Now that we solved, ‘The Case of the Missing Dragon’, why not concentrate now on ‘The Secret of The Golden Isles.”

Cazi then teased, “Do you have to name ‘every’ mystery we solve or come in contact with?”

“Maybe,” I smiled, showing a little sarcastic pride.  “That is the second reason we came out here and the reason Hyrith came with us.”

“Jarl, told me about his hunch of where Anora was going to be, so I thought I’d tag along as I was going to come out here anyway,” Hyrith stated.

“Speaking of hunches,” interrupted Annabeth, but Hyrith did not mind as he was pretty much done.  “How did you know that Anora would be on The Golden Isles?”

I began, “Remember back when Hyrith told us of his adventures on The Golden Isles the night of the first feast?”

          Everyone responded, “Yeah.”

“Well,” I continued.  “The part where Hyrith had talked about the one dragon that was a ‘blur’ or ‘reflecting a lot of glare’ and ‘the sharp slashes and the dragon footprints, didn’t remind me of a dragon I’ve ever seen; yet, a dragon I had heard of.  Cazi and I spoke with Annabeth to know more about Anora.  So when I heard how Hyrith described the dragon he saw and remembered what Annabeth said about Anora, both descriptions sounded exactly the same.”

“I see that now,” Annabeth replied.  “Don’t know why I didn’t think that Anora would be that dragon Hyrith was talking about.  At the time Hyrith said and you glanced at me, Jarl, I thought it could be Anora.  However, I thought, ‘It couldn’t be that easy… could it?’  Throughout all my thoughts of where Anora could be and the times I’ve tried to go looking for her, I tried and tried and tried and I always came up with nothing.  So to think that Anora would be this close… be on The Golden Isles, sounded too good to be true.”

“I could see that too,” Cazi added.  “But at the time, I was thinking the same as you were, Annabeth.”

Meen interjected, “So now that we have found Anora, why don’t we move on to ‘The Secret of The Golden Isles’.”

Everyone chuckled as I asked, “So Hyrith.  What clues do you know about the treasure on or in The Isles?  Do you think the crates we saw those vikings carry off is part of the treasure.”

Hyrith looked doubtful, “I wouldn’t think they could have reached the treasure this fast.  I’ve been here for several years, and I still haven’t gotten very far to find what The Legend is all about or the treasure the legend speaks about.  Yet, I know the whole culture here plus the language pretty well for I was born here.  Sure there are a few relics and a couple priceless artifacts, if you know what to look for, here and there throughout the ruins.  But that isn’t part of the treasure.”

Ashley then questioned, “I heard you talk about, ‘The Legend of The Shadow Dragon’ a little bit that night at the feast, is this the true treasure or is there something else, Hyrith?”

“That’s one reason I think they haven’t found the treasure yet, because part of the legend states, ‘If the whole or portion of the treasure protected by the keystone is released, then the curse of the shadows you will receive.’” said Hyrith.

“So what is this… ‘Shadow’ curse.. thing supposed to be?” asked Cazi.

Hyrith replied, “Most of my people didn’t know much about it, but my real mother had told me when I was a young child, that long ago there were shadows roaming the woods.  If anyone would come close to the shadows, they would never come back.  But then suddenly, not a trace was left of the shadows.  Most people just left it up to people’s imagination come to realize it was just in their head.  But-.”

Cazi added, “There is always a ‘but’.”

Hyrith chuckled, “Some said it was because a feud we had amongst ourselves.  It got so heated to the point that nearly a civil war was started.  But as quickly as the feud seemed to get heated, it just as fast stopped.  People started to wonder why, until the woman who started the feud was caught here in the woods trying to run off with the treasures that The Golden Isles had accumulated.”

“The leaders of our tribe were tipped off by some anonymous person that said she would be trying to escape by this very path that we’re on now with the treasure,” Hyrith was finishing up.  “The leaders who had led the chase and caught her with the goods said that when they tried to apprehend her, a large gust of wind swept through the woods.  But there had been no warning or indication in the sky that such a wind would be coming.  No clouds were in the sky and even the moon was full.”

I whispered to Cazi, “Seems like with stories like these the moon is always full.”  Cazi nodded her head.

“It was strong enough to knock over some of the men that were there.  It became so intense that the vikings had to shield their eyes.  But when they did that, the gusts disappeared and the air was calm.”

“Let me guess,” Garth spoke.  “The woman with the treasure had disappeared as well.”

“Exactly right,” Hyrith answered.  “But not only that, so was the treasure.”

Meen then suggested, “So if those vikings we saw were or are still after the treasure, is it safe assume that the treasure the woman got away with is the same treasure that the legend speaks about?”

“Some believed so.  However, the strange thing was when the gusts had blown through no footprint or a sign of the treasure being dragged or carried off was found,” Hyrith replied.

I then questioned, “So if the woman with the treasure did escape but no trace of footprints were found, do you think the Shadow Dragons had anything to do with it?”

“I’m getting to that.  When the leaders had returned, some reported seeing ‘shadowy figures’ in the light of the moon come.  Others said that when the ‘gusts’ had blown up against them that something hard had brushed them.  How can a ‘shadowy figure’ that is supposed to be ‘wind’, brush up against some of them and they report something solid hit them?  The only thing that would explain it would be the Shadow Dragons; although, most of the people of The Isles blamed the leaders for making excuses for their inability to bring her in.  When our scribes started to write down these events, they exaggerated a little and made it into the legend it is today,” Hyrith concluded.  “However, it was rumored that one of the scribes actually knew the woman and still does.  The stories that he would write wouldn’t be on what had happened, but what will happen if the woman, treasure, or the ‘shadows’ were released.  One day this scribe was never seen again.  Also, the night he was last seen was another full moon.  Some said that the same ‘shadowy figures’ he warned about, took him away.”

Throughout this entire story, I kept noticing Anora nudging Annabeth in a way that she wanted her to follow her somewhere.  So I asked Annabeth, “What’s wrong with Anora?  Does she want to take you somewhere?”

“That’s what I was thinking,” Annabeth replied.  “Should we go see where she wants to go?”

“Sure,” everyone replied pretty much the same.

Everyone mounted their dragons and followed Annabeth and Anora.  Star Scream flew next to Anora.  It seemed like both dragons had an extra pep in their step.  Who is to blame them?  They have seen each other in years.

Anora led us back down the path we came, but took a turn to the left.  After a minute of slow flying, Anora landed at spot in the pathway next to a large boulder.

“Strange,” Hyrith said as he got of Sun Rose.  “This is the same spot that the one woman disappeared.”

“Are you sure?” asked my little sister.

“I’m sure I’m sure,” stated Hyrith, who was puzzled.

Asvord then asked, “Why would Anora lead us here?”

Annabeth had gotten off her old friend and started rubbing Anora’s snout, “Do you think that Anora has some connection to this island?”

“Or even the legend?” Hyrith wondered.

Annabeth looked a little concerned when Hyrith said that.  While Anora was walking around the boulder a few times, Explod suggested, “That might explain why Anora picked these islands out all the others to come back to.  Also, how Anora would even know about this spot.”

The moment after Explod had finished, Anora was on top of the boulder and had stepped on something.  A sound came to our ears that sounded like rushing wind, but the air around us was completely calm.  Then all of a sudden, a boulder that was lying against the larger one seemed to pop up the ground and off the larger boulder.

          “Secret door?” Meen stated

Cazi added, “Probably the way the woman escape with the treasure.”

“Yeah,” Hyrith said as he, Explod, Garth, and I walked over to the right side of the smaller boulder.

Garth inspected how the smaller boulder had been up against the large boulder.  He said that if we just pushed it to the side, that it should slide out of the way.

“Why not have one of our dragons take the boulder out of the way?” asked Elsa.

“We might need to put it back to cover our tracks,” stated Hyrith.  “Or rather, be able to open and close it like is supposed to so that those vikings we saw earlier don’t stumble upon the entrance or exit.  I guess it depends on how you look at which one this is.”

“That,” Explod quipped.  “And a chance to show off our muscles to the girls.”

“Let’s all push on three,” I said as the guys readied themselves to push.

Cazi saw the chance to get a tease in, “Wouldn’t it be better to push on the boulder instead of the number three?”

“Very funny,” I replied as I got my hands where I wanted on the boulder to get the most leverage.  “One… Two….. Three.”

We put all our weight into pushing it.  It did not budge the first or second times we tried to push it.  Now we kind of stood back off of it and then pushed.  That little bit have extra ump we put into our push was just enough to slide the boulder out of the way.  We did however have to keep pushing it until the entryway was completely cleared from the smaller boulder.  We looked into the entrance and saw that it was a steep decline to the bottom.  If we just sat on our dragons and just slid down, we could get down.  Although once in, we would have to follow Anora for a way out, the steepness of the hill and the overhang of the cave would make it nearly impossible to get back up.

“Man,” Explod stretched his back.  “That boulder is heavy.”

As both dragon and viking entered the secret passage we let the girls go first, Cazi called back to Explod, “What?  Showing off your muscles is too much work.”

          Explod just rolled his eyes.

Everyone had a pretty easy time entering the secret passageway and sliding down.  The only one that had trouble was Fredrick with his wide frame and his wingspan.  There was enough room for him to get down, but it was tight fit as Fredrick folded his wings back as much as he could.  The force of the downward slide actually helped Fredrick keep his wings back as the decline was steep enough that we actually picked up quite a bit of speed.  The slide down to the bottom was longer than I thought, but about a minute later we were at the bottom with the others.

“I was just saying,” said Hyrith.  “That these caves reminded me of the main stable area underneath the main village.”

The only light for us to see was the girls’ Nadders lighting a fire in their mouths so we could see.  This cavern was about the size of the new stables being built into the caves under Berk.  There were several caves at different levels on the walls that looked like they could lead somewhere.  As we were looking around, suddenly we heard a loud mechanical noise behind us.  What little light that was coming from our entryway, soon went away.

“Well, so much for even attempting to go that way to get out of here,” said Asvord.

“Look on the bright side,” I responded.  “We won’t have to go back and close the door after we get out of here.”

Asvord rolled her eyes, “You always find the good in a situation… no matter how far you dig for it.”

I shook my head, and then looked at Anora and Annabeth, “I guess it is up to you and Anora to get us out of here.”

“I think it is mainly Anora,” Annabeth replied.  “Because I don’t know where we are either.”

Annabeth looked at Anora and Anora responded with a snort and started walking away.  She looked back at us and then started again.  That must have been the signal to follow as our dragons started to follow too.

We walked through several twists and turns in narrow passageways, narrow enough we had to walk in single file.  As much as I could keep track of where we were, we had been heading back in the direction of the main village.  At one point, the passageway got extremely narrow and small that we could barely fit through, before it finally opened into a massive cavern that looked vaguely familiar.

“I don’t believe it,” Hyrith stated.  “So that’s how she escaped?”

          “What?” asked Cazi.

Hyrith said, “You know when I said that no footprint was found and the men reported hearing a ‘rushing wind’ sound and it left as quickly as it came?  Well this cavern here is the old stables built into the Screaming Death tunnels.”

“Oh,” Cazi replied.  “The woman was able to slip through here and escape.  But that still doesn’t explain how she alone could carry the treasure off.  She would have to make several trips.”

“I know,” Hyrith spoke, and then changed the subject.  “As you can see… The place is in ruins with all the pillars and columns knocked down to the floor.”

The cavern was massive, but as Hyrith said, it is in disarray.  Hyrith also stated that we should not stay here long because more columns could come crashing down as the main stables are unstable.  Anora led us to the center of the cavern and kept nudging a large column that was lying on the ground.

Annabeth relayed, “I think she wants the column moved.”

Elsa then volunteered, “Pfft, Meatballs can handle this in his sleep.  Want anything move, Meatballs is the dragon to do it.”

Elsa walked over to the pillar and signaled to Meatballs to move the pillar.  Meatballs seemed like he had been waiting to do something like this for a while; because for most of the trip and while we have been here, he has been rather bored.

A few seconds later, the pillar was moved, Anora walked over to the spot that was under the pillar, bent her neck down, and kept “pointing” at the spot.  We walked over to the spot and saw an indentation on the floor.

“I don’t believe it,” Annabeth said.

“What?” Cazi said.  “Two ‘I don’t believe it’s’ in a matter of moments is rare, just saying.”

“The indentation on the floor here,” Annabeth replied, as she reached for something in Star Scream’s saddlebag.  “The ‘keystone’… is Anora’s charm-necklace I gave her.”

She pulled out the one she kept that was hers that is identical to the one that Anora had.  Somehow Anora’s charm that matches Annabeth’s, is not on her anymore.  But what we found on Anora the first time Cazi, Annabeth, and I had seen Anora she had a different charm necklace on.  I am curious why that charm is not the “keystone”.

Just as Annabeth took her charm and laid it on the indentation and it seemed to fit into place, we heard some rumbling.  Annabeth jumped back picking back up her charm.

“I didn’t do anything,” Annabeth said worriedly.

Hyrith then stated as the ground started rumble slightly, “I don’t think that was you.  I told you guys that this area is quite unstable.  We need to get out of here quick!”

“Well,” Cazi asked quickly.  “Where would that be?”

“Follow me!” Hyrith spoke as the rumbling sounded like it was getting closer and rocks from the ceiling started falling down.

The exit route that Hyrith picked is large enough we could fly out of; but even through this route, rubble was falling down.  Some of the stalactites started falling down too, so trying to fly and avoid flying into them or even worse getting hit by one is hard to do.  Though the choice between getting hit and not, is a no-brainer so doing what you can to not get hit… I made it easy.  Flying above, under, and even shooting a larger boulder with a blast from Fredrick is what we had to do to get out.  I brought up the rear and had the most rubble and falling debris to deal with.

After finally see light and flying out of the tunnel, it caved in behind me as soon as I flew out.  We regrouped back at the spot we first landed on The Golden Isles.

Once I checked everyone was okay, even dragon, I said, “What caused that to happen?”

Ashley questioned, “Could it have been when Annabeth put her charm on the place on the floor in there?”

“I don’t think so,” Hyrith answered.  “Annabeth didn’t move her charm at all.”

“Yeah, all I did was just set it on the floor that was it, honest,” Annabeth assured.

Hyrith finished his thought, “All she did was set it on the indentation.  I think there something else going on.”

Before we could think of something else, Garth said pointing back to the east, “Isn’t that Stormfly?”

We all looked back to the east and there she was.  It was Stormfly with Astrid flying her.  There was someone on there with Astrid but I could not make it out until they got closer.  As they were coming in to land, I recognized the person to be, “Mother?  What are you doing here?” I asked.

She looked extremely distraught and then said, “You must come back to Berk now.”

Asvord was the first to say it before I, “Why?  What’s wrong?”

“It’s your father,” Astrid said, who looked worried too.

Mother said, “He has been accused of murder!”

First of all, nice job! :)

I'm not 100% sure if this is major or not, but Shadow dragons arn't a surprise to Hyrith. The queen did make them in the first place, for they are created by moving an egg to follow a shadow (since because of the sun, shadows change in direction) for a few months. Shadow dragons are just the main threat.

Also, some weird foreshadowing happened in your story. Not sure if it's a coincidence, but there will be a "Shadow curse" in the thrid and fouth series, which Hyrith has but doesn't know it yet (*cough* void *cough*).

The ending also is weirdly connected to the plot of Hyrith's final adventure. He's accused of murder and is banished from Berk.

She was my main dragon, and still is, in the races. She also helped out in leveling up the others, by helping them do the quests untill the very end, so they would get the XP.

Really Playful, Loyal, Doesn't like night time.

Likes to Eat:

Eggs, Eggs, and more Eggs.

Favorite thing to Do:

Play with the other Dragons, her favorite game is Fetch the Chicken!

Intresting Fact:

The Golden Nadder/Sun Rose by AniuRavenwolf! Thanks!

Thunderdrum: Sonarus (Aka: Sonus) - Male -

My second dragon, Sonarus was sorta of a pain. Since from when he was born, he was very wild and crazy, and even more hyper. He loved to jump on people's shoulders and roar in their ears, then run away for me to apolagize. Sonus now loves to steal my sheep, and hide them in the forest, but he is always there where I need him to be. He's BFFs with Thunder Quake, and, oh yeah, he is protective of me.

Wild, Crazy, Protective, and Loyal (Most of the time).

Likes to Eat:

Perch (I still don't understand why.)

Favorite thing to do:

Hide my sheep and pretend he didn't do it.

Intresting Fact:

He said he hates to play Thunder Run...but I can tell he's faking. How? I just know. :)

Whispering Death: Thunder Quake (Aka: Da King, Da Racing Champ) - Male -

I found his egg in the tunnels, and Hiccup let me keep him. When he hatched, he looked at me for one second, and then, well, decided he wanted to be free. He jumped out of the stables, and started slithering to the forest. I chased him, freeing him from bushes, rescuing him from drowning, and TRYING to feed him when he was hungry. One day, a wild smokebreath appeared, and for some reason, Da King thought he was, "The King", and decided to take him on. He started dealing blows to it, but the smokebreath won in the end. Before it laid the final blow, though. I jumped and used myself as a human sheild. It hurt, but I was fine. I called in Sonarus, and he saved us. He put his trust in me, and I have helped him ever since.

Brave, doesn't know his limits...yet.

Likes to eat:

Sheep Steak.

Favorite thing to do:

Drill underground, and camp there, with me trying to find him. Also, play fighting with Sonarus.

By Wutend Bonfire. Thanks!

Scauldron: Waterspout (Aka: Spouty, The Heir of Frost and Pyra) - Female -

One day, I went to Johan's ship. There, I found an egg with a burn and ice on it. This was Frost and Pyra's lost egg! I quickly traded it with Johan, and then I found out that she was sick. I ran home, and placed her on the hearth. 3 days passed. Nothing. Thinking she was dead, I sadly sighed, and put my hand on her egg. Suddenly, a bright golden glow spread around her, and she was born!

I found him in the forest, as a baby. He was crying and whimpering, but I picked him up. He looked at me, and tried to smile. He then yawned, and fell to sleep. I figured he was lost or abandoned, so I took him in. He is addicted to any red or yellow rocks, and will do anything to get them.

Thunderdrum: Eagle Ray (Aka: Booma, Sea Dream, Pearl) - Female -

On new year's eve, I found out that Sonarus was missing! I asked the others to search for him, but he was not found! Depressed, I sadly went home, hoping that he was safe. In the morning, I set out with Waterspout, hoping to find Sonarus. After 5 hours of searching, I spotted something green, and something blue side by side. I patted Waterspout on the side, and we dove in. To my suprise, it was Sonarus and another Thunderdrum! Studying them for a bit, I found out that the blue one was Sonarus's mate! I tamed her, and since then, we had a new addition to my family.

Stick with Sonarus

Intresting Fact:

Some say she's a relative of Thornado...

Zippleback: Sunrise and Sunset (Aka: Dawn and Dusk, Pimp and Pump)

- Male -

Kinda weird... Ok, so, I went to trader Johan's eggs, and found a dragon egg chest. I asked him could I buy it, since I had just enough gems. So, he said yes, and I got a rumblehorn! Yay! One of my most favorite dragons! Excitedly, I took it home, and put it in the hearth. Later on, I checked on it, and hatched it... then, to my surprise, a baby zippleback popped out! What?! I looked at it, it looked at me, and it was silent for a few minutes. Ok... weirdness attack. Whatever, he's still a baby dragon. I held it, and it's left head turned toward the sunrise in the distance. So I called the left one Sunrise. We played for a bit, then the sun was setting! This time, the right head turned toward it, and I named it Sunset.

Playful, Shy, Obedient

Favorite Food:

Sunrise: Squid, Sunset: Octopi

Favorite thing to do:

Turn toward the sunrise/sunset, depending on the head

Intresting fact:

Some people call him Pinky or Purple Butt. He tends to kill people like that... so DON'T!

Nadder: The Silver Nadder (Aka: Moonstone, Silverstar, Diana) - Female -

So that's why Sun Rose leaves one a year, she's going to visit her sister, Mooonstone. How did I know this? I saw it myself. When she left, me and Thunderquake went to she where she went every year (Yeah, kinda like a stalker, but who knows if she goes mental and starts killing everything? Actually, TMI), she flew into a cave. I waited until night, and suddenly, a silver nadder appeared, and flew out. It came back at dawn, and after it went in, Sun Rose went out. They did this, then I couldn't take it anymore. I need to find out who this dragon is. I crept in, and the Silver Nadder shreiked, then flashed it's wings at my face. Startled, I stepped back. It snarled, and backed away. I decided another plan. When I saw Sun Rose, I signaled her to come to me. She first, well, was startled, then frightned. After face-palming myself, I tossed a fish on teh ground. She ate it, and after gaining her trust, I stepped in the cave with Sun Rose, and soon enough, I found out that this new dragon was Sun Rose's sister, and I took her home.

Typhoomerang: Topspin (Aka: Big guy, Wirlwind, FOOOM) - Male -

This one is a sad one... So there was this typhoomerang that I knew very well. We met in a forest, and even though we were friends, I didn't tame him. Dunno why I didn't, he was awesome. So, a few months late, he found a mate and they had a baby typhoomerang. Then suddenly, his mate died. I felt very sorry for him, and because he had to feed the baby, he left the baby typhoomerang with me. We formed a bond, but in the Chilling Horror month, he went to get some fish... and never came back. I waited for days, and I fed the baby myself with some perch. My friend never came back, so I chose to adopt the baby myself. At night, he would have terrible nightmares, and he would go to my room and sleep with me. He had a serios fear of Backbiter, and I was sorta heartbroken that even though Backbiter wanted to play with Topspin and wanted to stick with him, Topspin always was scared of him and either attacked or flew away. But I know, that one day, the nightmares will pass, and the two dragons will grow to respect each other. My typhoomerang... my Topspin.

Always cautious, Defensive, Always on the lookout, Active

Favorite Food:

Eel... I can finally use them!

Favorite thing to do:

Just anything that doesn't involve Backbiter or sitting around

Intresting Fact:

He kills eels for sport... I hate that.

Sandwraith: Sandstorm (Aka: Puppy Dragon, He-who-burrows) - Male -

It's funny how a fishing trip can befriend a dragon. So I was spending some time on my own (Raising a ton of dragons is tough, I need a break), and I was fishing and camping out on the beach. I just caught a bunch of halbut and salmon, and I was frying a salmon. *Growl* Huh? I looked up, then left and right. I then felt the ground move, and I looked down. Two eyes stared back up... "YAH! WHAT ON EARTH?!" I jumped back. At that time, I never knew what a sandwraith was. I'm new here, ok? The sandwraith exploded form the sand, and looked at me. Silence for a few seconds... then he wadled to my basket of fish and started eating everything like he didn't care. "Hey! That's my fish!" He didn't listen, and ate all of it. He then turned, and studied me. He looked like a nightfury, so I was intrigued. He then jumped and flopped on me and started licking my face. "You're like toothless!" I laughed, and he licked some more. "Hey, boy! Stop it!" He kept on licking me, and he soon decided that follow me was a better option than chilling in the sand waiting for who-knows-what to go over him. Smart kid.

Playful, Smart, Seems to always be hungry

Favorite Food:

Salmon (DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO FISH FOR ONE?! *shouts at Sandstorm, he licks me and wadles away.)

Favorite thing to do:

Act majestic

Intresting fact:

First dragon I knew nothing about in the beginning.

Seashocker: Aquashock and Waterskiz (Aka: Zapduo) - Male -

So, a few days ago, I received a present. Not sure who sent it, or why, but I got it. It was wraped in colored leather, and when I opened it, I found an egg. I couldn't tell the species though. It was colored in multicolors, with "Thanks Hyrith" written in bright yellow paint. I shrugged. The only way to find out the species is to hatch it. When I picked it up, I was shocked. No, not the suprised shock. The lightning shock. I fumbled with it, and Telsabeam jumped from the roof. I think she sensed it was a skirll, so I shuddered. I don't have anything against skrills, just after Telsabeam almost burned down my house becasue she saw a fly, I've been a bit careful with her. I do not need another crazy lightning-maniac shooting around my house. I ploped it down on the hearth, and after a few minutes, it shook. I picked it up, and took it to the lavepit for it to hatch. It never did. It just shook, but it never came out. Just before Telsabeam was about to crack it open, Waterspout stared at the egg, and shot a small stream of water. The water touched it, then it cracked. Puzzled, I dipped my hand in water, and touched the egg. Where I touched, it cracked. Then, I actually figured out something. I took the egg to the sea, and placed it under the water. It shuddered, then a seashocker was born. I was extremly happy, and I thought all my dragon were too. Well, except Telsabeam. She grumbled a sign of disappointment, and wadled away. XD

Aquashock is agressive and fierce. Extremly loyal, and will attack anything that he thinks is harming me.

Waterskiz is playful and wild. He loves doing tricks, and is usually the reason why they have so much scars. For some reason, he's addicted to shrimp.

They both work together as a team, probabily because they know that if they argue, they won't go anywhere.

Favorite Food:

Aquashock: Squid

Waterskiz: Shrimp :\

We Are Not Alone, A Chinese and Western Crossover (Later on)

5 months after Hyrith disappeared...

"Who's there?" Jin sat up on his bed. It was 12 in the night, and most of the academy was asleep. The footsteps sounded louder this time. Jin pushed away the covers, and put on his combat glove. As soon as his hand slipped in, a small flame sparked in his palm. The footsteps stopped, and a creaking sound was heard. Silence. He waited for a while, and figuring that there was nothing, slipped off his glove and pulled the covers over his head.

"AHHHHHHH!" A scream peirced the cold air, and Jin fell out of his bed. In a hurry, he shoved the glove over his hand, and opened the door. He lit his glove, and the flame ignited in his hand. Across the balcony, a hooded dark figure stepped out of a room. Jin stood in a battle stance. The flame in his palm grew into a fireball, and Jin shouted to the figure.

"Who are you? Take off the hood!"

The hooded man turned to Jin, and removed his hood, revealing an old man with a long white, whispy beard. The fireball died down. "Master Zhang?"

"Yes, my young student. Why are you here? You should be in your room sleeping, not outside watching the snow fall."

"I woke up because of the scream. Did you hear it too? Did someone get hurt?"

"That was the reason I came, young one. Go to bed, the final practices starts tomorrow. Do you want to get the blade or not?"

"Yes master, but safety is more important. Mind if I investigate with you?"

JIn bowed, and the old master smiled. "Jin, investigate this floor. I'll take the top and bottom floors. Meet after 5 minutes." Jin looked at his old master. He was not usually that kind, but Jin shook that thought out of his mind. He needed to see if someone was hurt.

"Found anything yet?" Master Zhang glared at Jin, and he looked into the final room. Another sleeping student. "Nothing, master." Master Zhang looked at him, and smiled. "Well, I think it's settled. Let's have a seat, shall we?" Jin shrugged. The master jumped, and sat on the railing. Jin climed up to him.

 "Anything, Master?"

"Nothing yet, child. Forget this. It's a good night to be alive, is it?"

"Yes, I agree. You checked every room?"

"Every room, youngling. How about you-" A howl penetrated the air. A Howler flew towards Master Zhang, and the yellow and black dragon growled. Wait. Jin looked at the Howler, and noticed something. That was Dai Pow, Icarus's dragon. He never submitted to anyone, not even the master, except Icarus. Dai Pow circled Master Zhang. He glared at him, and then glared at Zhang.  He kneeled, and Zhang grumbled under his breath. "Curses. Stupid howler." He then looekd at Jin. "Let me see Dai Pow first." He jumped off the railing, and Jin looked as he kneeled and clasped the wingless dragon's head, speaking some words. JIn nudged myself over, then he felt something. JIn looked down, and he saw blood on the railing, where the master's hand was. Sticky, freash blood.

   The last room...

Jin shoved past the master, and to the final room. He didn't check it, since it was the room the master came out of. Jin ran past, and saw a stream of blood running from under the door. He slammed it open, and he gasped in shock.

Mei Hua layed dead in her bed, a large bloody gash in the middle of her chest. Her mouth was open in shock. Jin ran to her, and noticed that the blood was freash. Impossible! The master just was in here! Master Zhang would never commit such a crime! A hand then went over Jin's shoulder, sending a chill up his spine. The master glared at him, his mouth curing into a evil grin. Shocked, Jin tried to speak. "What? How? WHY?!" The master smiled. "Yes, Jin. I am the one. Sorry, but I can't have any witnesses." Suddenly, Master Zhang's form flickered, and instead of the Master from before, a red haired boy, stood in his place. He suddenly jabbed his palm at Jin's chest. A blade then shot out, coming out of Jin's back. Jin gasped, and he fell to the ground. His vision slowly filled with black dots, and he thought his last thought.

Thanks. :)

I tried not to have as a surprise to Hyrith, but trying to have Hyrith figure it out.  Hyrith in the chapter was more puzzled and trying to figure it out, then surprised.

I guess great minds think alike.  I just tried to keep in mind how you have written your books, to portray Hyrith and what he knows to what I read.

I guess great minds do think alike. XD

You did an excellent job of showing Hyrith's character in this chapter by the way, but keep in mind that he knows many things about the Golden Isles, but doesn't really want to share them untill he has to. ;)

Thanks.  I tried my best to go on of what I've read of your stories.  I figured as much, so I've only had Hyrith say answer something if asked a question directly.

Subject do I need why Hmm? Above them can be a Jedi Master, No?

That's why they were subtle and you had to look out for them.  But if you go back through a read, you don't have too, but there are hints with Jarl's father and other characters that there is some tension going on.

Is Jarl's father guilty?  Is he wrongfully accused?  Did someone else do the murder?  Is there even a murder?

There is even a subtle hint in the Title of this story.  I had the title for a reason, so this is what I've been building too....  Hence "Thoughts of Guilt".

On the Subject of Hackers

please read this link, it helps to identify the different types of hackers. I have hacked computers, and servers in the past (despite not being the best at code) but I never do it for personal gain. Unfortunately the hackers most people refer to on the internet are crackers so they bring a bad light on the hacking community in general. I only learned to hack code because I needed to in order to hack my microwave and other software in my house.

Don't be a Cracker you ruin it for everyone!
