"Ahh the moon mage! I've met her once or twice! She's really kind, well hopefully we can find her for you" Bixby replied to Aspen .

Lathri \Skywing Elf/

“You guys promised me sob stories, too,” Gale protested, but a sharp look from Lujanne shut her up. “Fine, fine. I got it. I suppose we can leave as soon as we can. Close as much distance as we can't before the we run out of light.”

After Gale’s horror story, Lathri had kind of forgotten she was supposed to share her own. Not that her story was anything special. She’d probably tell Gale on the road.

Her fellow Skywing got her desired spell, which Lujanne put on her choker, which apparently was a replacement for the one stolen from her. Then the Moon mage turned to her. “As for you, would you like a few scrolls listing spells and the basics of moon magic? I recommend practicing at night when you first start out.”

Lathri smiled gratefully. “That’d be great, thanks. I know it’s hard to put an Arcanum into words, but any attempts made by mages over the years would be helpful too. It helped me learn the Sky Arcanum.”

She considered asking Lujanne for a concealing spell for her too, but she was fairly sure she could make do without. Her horns were far smaller than Gale’s, not to mention her lack of wings. Also she always had magic if things got hairy.

She turned and wandered into the back of the cave, re-emerging a few minutes later with a leather satchel. She passed it to Lathri. "This covers most of the basics including minor, tangible illusions. Try not to push yourself too much. And do not allows these spells to fall in the wrong hands." After that particularly ominous warning, Lujanne smiled warmly. "I trust you will return these to me at the conclusion of your quest."

"So, shall we get going?" Lathri asked her.

Gale's hand drifted up to touch her newly enchanted necklace and nodded mutely. "Yeah." She murmured and dipped her head towards Lujanne respectfully. "Thank you for all your help."

"Of course." Lujanne smiled warmly.

Taking in a breath, Gale walked towards the exist of the cave. She stood at the mouth, allowing the wind to stir her hair. Spreading her wings, Gale dropped out of the mouth of the cave. She plumetted a few metres before her winds caught the drag of the wind, sending her rocketing upwards into the night air.

Lathri followed Gale to the edge of the cave. “Manus, pluma, volantus,” she chanted, glancing back at Lujanne as feathers began to sprout and then winging after Gale.

Once she caught up with her, her first instinct was to ask where they were going, but on second thought she decided to leave Gale to her own thoughts for a while and just follow her. She would probably talk when she was ready to.

Gale traced the center stone of her necklace, pressing her lips firmly together. Then she smirked, tilting her wings upwards slightly to catch the drag to push her back so she flew side-by-side with Lathri.

Her form shimmered as an illusion began to encompass her, starting from the tip of her horns, extending outwards towards her feet. Soon enough, a completely human looking brown-haired girl appeared by Lathri. Although it looked incredibly weird due to the fact that although her wings had disappeared, she was still flying. Her body shifted upwards then downwards in response to the wingbeats, but it otherwise appeared like she was floating.

"Wut's up, goo' ol' mate? Tis I! A hooman!" Gale cheered gleefully, aboslutely butchering any attempt she was making at an accent.

She waved at Lathri, then seemed to notice her fith finger. She gasped and wiggled it. "Whoaaaa!"

Passing by a rocky spire, Gale flew towards the other side of it. A flash of blue was noticable before Gale re-emegered as a pot-bellied middle-aged man.

"Oi! Check out this chub!" Gale squealed in an uncannily feminine voice. She laughed at the ridiculousness of the situation.

Loteva - Moonshadow elf

Loteva finished feeding Diana, enjoying the whole time. When Zerina asked if they wanted to continue the tour, she bid a hesitant farewell to the moon pheonix. "So, the forge," Loteva asked."I had a friend that was a craftsman. He mostly made weapons, but also jewelry. Are you one too? I assume so, after all you did make that lunar steel." While asking he question, she looked around the nexus. Moon moths fluttered gracefully about, twirling like Moonshadow elves using their key to the Silvergrove. But on the way to the stables, Loteva had briefly seen some ruins. Not all of it was beautiful. Some of it was melancholy, a sign that the world was not how it used to be.

Agh. Enough with the sad thoughts.

She frowned at the sweat dripping down her face, and pulled off her scarf. Small tatters ran throughout. She would have to get another one, whether she wanted to or not. Loteva wondered where the two Skywing elves were. They had practically disappeared. Later on she had a question to ask Lujanne. Thought that woman was a bit kooky, she had deep understanding and wisdom in those eyes.

"Looking good!" Lathri commented, laughing.

Gale flexed her biceps, although there was absolutely no muscle on her current form so the skin just sagged pathetically. "I know!" She cheered.

There was another flash of light as Gale turned to a cliched but gorgeous woman. All common beauty ideals heaped onto one form. Blonde hair, blue eyes, a delicate face, upturned nose, soft curves. All of it which rendered Gale looking uncannily perfectly. Way too perfect. To the point where it almost appeared creepy, creepy for one being to be so devoid of flaws.

"I look amazing." Gale purred in a sad attempt at a sensual, flirtartious tone. It sounded more like she was trying to hold in a fart.

Zerina - Moon elf

"See these wire wraps? I made them myself, wire and all. I do everything from jewelry for my family and the birds to prosthetics like the ones you saw on Jherico and some of the others. Sometimes they get attacked by larger birds like Roc or other raptors, so I do what I can to help keep those flying pests away. As for jewelry, it's not my specialty, but it's a fun hobby. I even made a necklace with a human disguise illusion for a Moon Elf that came through not long ago." Zerina told her new friends, pointing up at the shimmering wire made from the lunar steel.

Of course, as she led them into the forge, the heat hit them dead on. It wasn't as intense as when it was in full use or anywhere near as hot as a Sunfire forge.

"Here we are! I specially designed this place myself! Well....my Dad started working on it since he's also a blacksmith, making weapons mostly or toys for the birds. They love puzzle feeders for treats. Anyways, I just finished a gift for the new human king. Figured I knew the kid already, so I might as well make him something to show he had me as an ally. Even Xerxes took a shine to the kid despite his attitude of being a jerk." She commented, pulling out the lunar steel blade to show it to the other elves. It was a beautiful blade, the etchings of the moon phoenixes and the zen symbols etched into it and the sheath.

(this is what I imagine the blade looking like:  )

Loteva - Moonshadow elf

Loteva examined the blade, clearly impressed. "Quite impressive, I'll hand that to you, Z." She said with a smile. "Those markings look similar to those on my dual blades, just more delicate."

For a little while she explored the forge, exploring and examining all the blades, nickknacks, and contraptions. It was intoxicatingly magical: delicate silver arches adorned the wall, the forge roaring alive with crackling coals and twisting flames.

There was a saddle in the corner, and Loteva had to stifle a chuckle when the thought of Lunos wearing it entered her mind.
To the side of the forge was a pendant. Quite plain, but nothing for Moonshadow elves were plain. She looked at it hungrily, a strange shine in her diverse eyes. Her fingers stretched outward like a dragon's talons, but she soon snapped out of her daze and regained her refined posture. She sucked in a deep breath, and continued on her way. But after taking that little journey of the smithy, she had to ask Zerina something. If Lujanne was busy, perhaps her newfound friend could help her.

"Say, do you know anything on the Ghosting ritual?" Loteva's cheerful expression remained the same, but her eyebrows pinched together. "I have little knowledge of it, and would like to....learn more."

As a Sunfire elf, Moremi had seen all manner of breathtaking blades and weapons, yet this sword still caught her eye, seeming to radiate moonlight and absorb it at the same time. Moremi nodded her head. It was far too good for a human, no matter what kind.
The other elf's interest in the ghosting process caught her off gaurd. She knew little about it, other than that it was moon elf magic reserved for only the highest of traitors.

"Sorry, I can't say that I have personal experience with the ghosting ritual, but my Mom has a few books on the moon arcana. I can show you when we're done here if you want. She might have something on that." Zerina offered, smiling as she allowed her friends to poke around.

"Oh, watch out for the lunar steel vats! I'm working on a new batch of ingots! I was just going to pour them tonight if you guys wanna watch that part of the process." She suggested, seeing Moremi getting a little too close to the glowing vcats of hot metallic liquid that was almost the consistancy of a pahoehoe lava flow with a smooth metallic crust forming on top as she grabbed her goggles, put them on and gave it a stir like a witch at her brew. The hot metal shifted colors: gold, amber, silver and bronze. The metal wouldn't solidify on the seasonal color until it was cooled as part of the magic in case the seasons shifted when she was working on a batch or had to adjust the formula. She used materials to make the colors: gold ore, amber straight from the mines, silver ingots, and bronze to get the colors once they were enchanted, then she enhanced it with aluminum ore, making it light and strong at the same time.

Her gaze quickly snapped to Moremi, who was now looking at her in surprise. She smiled haplessly at her; It really wasn't her plan to lose both her new friends right after meeting them.

"Some of my teammates when I was an assassin talked about it. Since then it's always interested me." Her lie wasn't a total fake. That was partially true. Loteva quickly turned on her heel, thankful that Zerina had interrupted the awkward situation.

Moremi backed away from the hot vats of metal quickly. As a Sunfire elf, she had a tendency to be less than cautious around hot metals and fire.
"I have to say, your forge and metal work is quite impressive. And that means a lot, coming from a Sunfire Elf." Moremi said, addressing Zerina.

Zerina grinned at the compliment from the Sunfire, glad to get her approval even if she wasn't a blacksmith herself.

"You wanna help me pour the metal into the ingot molds? I could use an extra set of hands. I often have to recruit my Aunt to help me with this stage and she usually sends a solid illusion instead. That way she doesn't get burned herself." Zerina offered, figuring a Sunfire could take more heat than anyone else. After all, the race did live in or near volcanoes for the most part. She glanced back Loteva as she went to get what she needed to tip the vat.

"I'd love to see your blades when we're done if you don't mind. I like seeing work done by other blacksmiths." She asked the other Moonshadow, putting on her forge apron - a thing made of thick leather and it even had some fireproofing spells cast on it (her mother's insistance for her little bird's safety) and made sure her goggles were in easy reach on her brow just below her horns.

Moremi smiled, happy to gain some experience with the forge. She looked around for a pair of gloves, grabbing a thick silver pair that hung on the wall. As a Sunfire elf, she could withstand hotter temperatures than most other elves, but that didn't mean she still wouldn't get burned. Slipping the pair over her fingers, she placed her hands on her hips, facing the forge.
"You're a Dragon Gaurd?" She said, addressing the other moonshadow elf. The elusive group of warriors were known across Xadia for their stealth and strength. If the rumors she heard were true, then they had even killed the human king of Katollis. Her curiosity overtook her before she could even think through what she was saying. "Were you in the group that killed the king of Katollis?"

Gale jostled towards the side a bit. "Hey!" She said.

She tucked her right wingagainst her body and immediately began to plumet towards the ground. Flipping herself over, she extended her wings again, catching just enough air to sent her shoting upwards, bumping against Lathri from underneath.
There was another blue flash she returned to her normal state, laughing.

Loteva - Moonshadow elf

Loteva nodded at Zerina, "Yeah, I'll go fetch them after we're finished." It was silent for a minute, until Moremi asked, "Are you part of the Dragonguard?" And then,"Were you in the group that killed the King of Katolis?" She froze, an icy chatter licking her spine like the vicious winds of the Shiverglades.

"Ah," Loteva began, cautious not to slip up her words. "No, I'm not part of the Dragonguard. I wish I were," She let out a breathy laugh, devoid of humor. "And no, I'm not an assassin. The King of Katolis was killed by them, and I don’t desire to have the dirty blood of the enemy on my hands. My job is hunting criminals in exchange for a small amount of money. Sometimes if I'm lucky, a roof to sleep under for the night."

The forge suddenly felt very cramped, and her vision felt similar to the mane of a fuzzy Shadowpaw.

"If you'll excuse me, I'll retrieve my swords now," She announced abruptly. If she stayed any longer, things would've become messy on her part.

Moremi watched Loteve leave, a dark look suddenly clouding the MoonShadow elf's face. She should have kept her mouth shut.

Gale dropped and then flew into her from below, sending Lathri spinning. She kept on spinning, just for the fun of it, faster and faster until she was dizzy and swaying through the air, still laughing breathlessly along with Gale, who resumed her own form.

“You know, I’ve never done this before,” she called out. Playing in the air with someone else, that was. She’d never flown with someone who had wings, due to the small percentage of Skywings that had them. Her mentor could turn his arms into wings of course, and they’d gone on long flights together, but he was a little too old for these kinds of games, preferring to fly peacefully side by side. Which had its own charm, but she liked this tumbling through the sky even more.

Gale snickered as she watched Lathri go spinning. She appeared to be having quite a bit of fun spiraling out, her feathers disturbing the serene clouds.

"“You know, I’ve never done this before,” Lathri called out once she regained control, returning to Gale's side.

Gale blinked, a playful smirk cracking her lip. "What? You've never been on a harrowing quest deep into human territory to return a necklace to someone? Yeah. Neither have I." She said in a teasing tone, knowing full well that it was likely not what Lathri meant.

Her gaze drifted over her newfound travelling companion and towards the SKy Arcanum book she knew the mage kept. She had initally intended on stealing it but now that she was stuck with Lathri, it did not seem like the most amicable idea. She had genuinely considered abandoning her in case she discovered the falsehoods in her story. But she had worded it carefully enough that she doubted they would encounter that problem. So, why not keep her around? Then she could teach Gale in person the Sky Arcanum which would probably be easier than learning from some dum.b book. She could also make her own book and pawn it off. She knew a few folks who would pay a pretty penny for "real" magick spells

Loteva - Moonshadow elf

If she remembered correctly, she had left her supplies and weapons by the entrance. On the way, she reprimanded herself for acting like that. How were they supposed to know about her problems? Actually, they weren't problems. To her at least. Loteva shoved a metallic tasting fist in her mouth, attempting to extinguish a huge yawn.

Clop. Clop. Clop.

Her boots clicked across the smooth stepping stones of the Nexus, echoing much louder than she would've liked. A moon moth landed on her nose, only to be brushed out of the way.

Loteva spotted her bag at the very start of the path, lying pathetically on its side. She picked up her swords first and was about to put them in their sheath, but a howl sounded from behind her. She turned. No one was there. The Moonshadow elf shrugged, and patted her sheath.

When she twisted around to get her bag, it was sitting upright. That was weird. Shadows stretched overhead, looming like thundering storm clouds. Loteva picked it up warily, and stepped forward. Squinting through the barrier, she saw rising rays of sun peer from its dark blanket of night. But as she was being distracted by the beautiful sight, something caught the corner of her eye. A moving shadow.

"Huh. Nice illusion." She muttered quietly to herself. It was probably just another prop to keep humans away, but then it started getting closer, and she could identify it. It vaguely resembled a Moonshadow elf, just not solid. It was smoky, dark gray and purple. And that's when it hit her. This was not normal at all. She couldn't feel any connection to the Moon when it came nearly eight feet away from her. This was Dark Magic.

Her eyes widened, but she stood her ground. The barrier would protect her, it was fine. She smiled confidently, but still brandished her blades.

"Betcha can't get over here, huh?" She taunted. But the figure wasn't deterred. It came closer, and closer until it reached the barrier, and put it's foot forward.

Loteva almost dropped her blades with surprise. She swung wildly, but her weapons passed right through.

I've got to get help.

"ZERINA!" She shouted, running as fast as she could. "MOREMI! ANYONE, I NEED HELP."

“What? You've never been on a harrowing quest deep into human territory to return a necklace to someone? Yeah. Neither have I,” Gale said playfully.

“All right, make that two things I’ve never done,” Lathri acquiesced, shaking her head. “But I meant this...flying. Playing. With someone else.” She shook her head again. “That sounds weird, I don’t mean romantically or anything. I mean this playing around, bumping into each other and everything. It’s fun.”

Her eye fell on something that looked like fireflies scattered on the ground...except from this height, they shouldn’t have been visible if they really were fireflies.

“Hey...is that a human town?” she asked warily, flapping a little higher and closer to the clouds, although she doubted they were visible as anything more than birds from below.

Zerina - Moon elf

Zerina sighed, glancing over at Moremi as she signaled to pour the hot metal into the tube that would funnel it into the molds for the ingots. The hot liquid metal had just had water poured on it when she heard Loteva's shouts.

"We better go see what's going on. Even with the water, it'll take time to cool anyways. Come on, you can borrow one of my blades." Zerina told Moremi, grabbing a scimitar and tossing it to Moremi. She thought the scimitar would suit her more than a traditional blade. She hurried for the side of the forge closest to the main path, where her sharp ears had heard the call for help.
