Outdated animations
Pretty sure this will go unnoticed but here we go.
I find that there are too many dragons that have old animations. I think they all should have something more unique.
These dragons are:
Typhoomerang
Screaming death
Hobblegrunt
Sweet Death
Shockjaw
Changewing
Mudraker
Smokebreath
Shivertooth
Moldruffle
Fireworm queen
Prickleboggle
Grapple grounder
Tide Glider
Death Song
Slithersong
Dramillion (too stiff)
Razorwhip
Groncicle
Sand wraith
Scuttleclaw
Wooly howl
Stormcutter
Silquifier
I'm saying this for most, of not all player. We want diversity and you could give us more of it with giving us more variety when it comes to the dragons' animations. Please consider these changes!
The monstrous nightmares also need a new one, yes they have a custom animation but it's so slow they almost look like they're in pain when they fly lol
I totally agree with that! New animations would mean dragons with more personal behaviour, and that's what should define them.
About the dragon I have and know:
- Sand Wraith, Woolly Howl, Sweet D.eath and all the other dragons with the Toothless-like animation: CHANGE. It's weird to see dragons who canonically are very different react in similar ways. For each, depending of their origins, their species personality, they could roll over, breath a little ice cloud (that the Woolly Howl's thing, right?) or sand cloud (Sand Wraith) or bury a bit in the ground, like waiting for an ambush (Sweet D.eath), etc.
- Typhoomerang: Definitely needs to evolve! To be clear, the movements are so unrealistic... Always flapping, with the wingspan, is completely outdated... With this wide wingspan of theirs, they should be hovering more than flapping, like a bird of prey in a way. Actually, they would gain in moving a bit like a sailplane or a vulture. And then maybe retract the long neck while flying, a bit like a flying heron. That instead on the constant flapping would be great. The animation we have is the main explanation why I don't use my Typhoomerang that much...
- Groncicle and Stormcutter: actually, I don't personnally see anything to change on these two... Maybe because I haven't used them in quite some time? Who knows? The Groncicle looks like a Gronkle physically, so the flying is okay, maybe on land animation they could use, like the first point I wrote, some new animations. Maybe a "create a little snowy igloo and hide into it"? On the Stormcutter, I've heard people complain about the flying animation, but personnally, I find it quite close to the movie's Cloudjumper, so, for me, nothing to change here. The on land, same, I see nothing to change...
Truly, inspiration from real-life birds is what could really help with giving the dragons their personality, even if it's mostly for flying.
I wholeheartedly agree. They WERE updating old dragon animations for a while, but then they stopped for.. some unknown reason. So yes, I would love to see them continue updating all the dragons that need animation updates.
I think one of the saddest things here is that some of these dragons DO already have updated animations. Smothering Smokebreaths do, at the very least. Smokebreaths have completely unique flight animations in Dragon Tactics, but outside of Tactics it's still the same old stiff-board Toothless animations. Like.. why?! They couldn't at least apply the new flight animations that they already programmed outside of tactics..?
I think the only one I disagree with is the Screaming Death just because.. it doesn't entirely seem necessary given it IS basically just a whispering death with a different head shape. But... I totally would not mind an animations update to screaming deaths. I would love to see my babies with some new moves <3
...But I just feel like Screaming Deaths are of least concern right now. Sweet Deaths. fix the Sweet Deaths. Please, I beg you JumpStart ;- ;
The monstrous nightmare animation and the toothless animations are just way too stiff, robotic, and just overall fake. I mean in the movies and RTTE both Hookfang and Toothless's flying was more natural and looked better. The MN animation just looks straight up painful and everything with the Toothless animation just looks too stiff.
Unrelated but they should update toothless's tail, because he already got rid of the red one for the automatic black one in HTTYD 3.
