The Night and the Fury (DoB Ep. 3)
I'll admit; I'm kind surprised there hasn't been a thread made for this episode yet. It's been a few days. Oh well. I can't say much since I only just watched last night.
Anyway... Yeah, I STILL can't stand Dagur. I know there are probably people out there who do like him, but he makes me uncomfortable. He's definitly earned the title of Deranged to me. O.o;;
Yeah, well, I can't imagine Stoic will be very happy that Hiccup has now made Dagur an enemy of Berk. Last time he showed up (Dagur), they were trying not to make an enemy out of him. At least, for now, Dagur's not doing like Alvin and trying to train his own dragons. That could get ugly...
I don't think Stoick will be too peeved with Hiccup over it given that Stoick was willing to go to war with the Berserkers if it meant they didn't kill Barf & Belch. He was ready to stab Dagur in the back (literally) so the Berserker chief wouldn't behead the Zippleback.
As for making an alliance with Alvin, I don't know. Dagur specifically said he wanted to take Hiccup down himself, meaning I can't see him making an alliance with somebody who would willingly take such a thing away from him. That aside, I think Dagur's the bigger threat here. Alvin doesn't have an armada for one. Although the whole fiasco with Mildew being on his side is definitely something worth being wary about if you asked me.
Dagur DID say in Twinsanity that he had heard from someone that Berk was training dragons, but he wouldn't tell who.
I agree, he gets on my nerves. Though frankly, with how much of his sanity just isn't quite there, I can't exactly see him being a particularly formidable enemy to Hiccup and the gang. I guess the fact that he has an entire tribe of warriors behind him makes things interesting... I wonder if he's going to ally with the Outcasts later? O_O He also hasn't yet caused such problems as accidentally releasing a super-sized mutant Whispering Death into an underground tunnel beneath Berk...
You mean the Screaming Death? That's what I think made that whole. Albino, mutated Whispering Death that is going to cause much strife -nods- I can't wait XD
Hey! Make sure to check out my New episode names! forum. It has the names for the next three episodes!!! Hope to see u there :)
I liked the episode... a lot! o.O
But Daggur creeped me out! ^_^; seriously... no offense to him but he is like... realy outta his mind! xDDD
I'm wondering how the gang is going to solve TWO wars:
First the one against the Outcast, who are having their own dragons now.
Second the one against a WHOLE DIFFERENT VIKING CLAN/VILLAGE.
And don't forget that "little" problem with the Whispering and Screaming Death.
Oh, and the hundred wild dragons that haven't been trained yet (Remember the Changewings)
I can't wait to see what Hiccups plans are!
My thought is the war with Berserkers couldn't be delayed that much: it is not easy to hide the fact you train dragons... However, I think the armada won't be the only weapon in Dagur's hands, but we'll see.
As for an alliance between Dagur and Alvin, it's not that unlikely: both want the same thing but they may hide each other their final wish to have Hiccup all by themselves.
Do you think we'll see some new dragons in the next episodes? I'll love also to see some other species be trained by the Riders. Have only to wait!
Apart from the Screaming Death, which I don't think will be very trainable, I imagine we'll see at least one skrill. Maybe Gobber will get a dragon now XD Not much telling. It would be cool to see a friendly-ish Skrill, after all. Also, someone mentioned elsewhere on this forum some dragons that might be appearing in the new series and movie. Not sure how reliable the information is, but it's worth a look.
So, Dagur first declared himself Hiccup's brother and now has it in for him. If they do not make a comparison to Loki and Odin at some point, it will be a perfect opportunity missed.
More like Loki and Thor, like in the Marvel-verse. (In true mythology, Loki's the brother of neither of them, so...) Which... considering Hiccup rides Toothless, who is a Night Fury and supposedly "the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself," would be rather fitting, I think. Chaos and Lightning. Of course, such a comparison would only be superficial, since Dagur is in no way as intelligent as Loki XD
In the mythology, Loki and Odin were blood-brothers, which is to say, honorary brothers. It's a pretty big deal. Dagur's declaration of brotherhood with Hiccup was never formalized, but the parallel is there.
Granted I only did a cursory browse on Wikipedia, so enlighten me. Where is it mentioned in myth and legend that Loki and Odin are blood-brothers?
This link seems to cover it pretty well. The exact meaning, as you will see, is a trifle uncertain, but all the myths and myth-based stories that I've read have gone with the popular interpretation and routinely referred to them as blood brothers.
Hmm, interesting. Still, the Odin-Loki brothership would work better if it was Stoic and Dagur/someone. For Hiccup-Dagur the best correlation would be Thor-Loki. -shrug-
Either way, you're right that it'd be a missed opportunity not to draw a connection to either pair.
