The Mysterious Frozen Fire - Chapter 22, Part 1: The Truth Revealed
Thank you for your patience with me as I have been very busy with a lot of things out home these last few weeks. Things are finally starting to hidedown for me, so I can get back to finishing my story.
One thing to note from the last chapter. The reason I named the island, "Icestorm Island" was because I was planning on adding an Arctic island all along. It just so happened that they type of island I had in mind for this story was was exactly like the new area that they added. So I thought, "I might as well call it Icestorm Island, because that is exactly what I had in mind." When I posted the first chapter of The Mysterious Frozen Fire, I wanted to have an Arctic Island in my story. And that was a few months before we even knew they were going to add a new area; that so happened to be an arctic island.
This was kind of similar to the fact that Jarl's little sister's name is Elsa. I didn't even know about Frozen and the character named Elsa in it when I started my first fan-fic. Some of you that have been reading since then, should know that to be true.
Since this is the first part of the last chapter, I am planning on having the second part done by the end of the week. So stay tunned for that.
But for now, enjoy Part 1!
The Mysterious Frozen Fire
Chapter 22, Part 1
The Truth Revealed
“Koll!” I exclaimed as a recognized the voice.
Asvord asked, “Why are you doing all of this?”
“That is not important right now,” Koll said. “What is important is me bring you back to my master.”
“Your what?” asked Cazi.
“You’ll see,” Koll said as he walked towards us.
Meen then said, “I think you should have said… Hello to my pan!” she added as she through her pan at the guy.
He stumbled back. As this caught him off guard, we all started to rush him. Cazi was the closest, so she got their first. She threw a right cross, but he blocked it and quickly secured both her arms behind her back.
“Okay. Hold it right there!” he ordered as he had a hold of Cazi. “That was a very unwise thing to do.”
Asvord sarcastically said, “What were we supposed to do? Welcome you with open arms?”
Koll replied, “You do have a point there, but I thought since you were trapped you could not go anywhere.”
We all then relaxed slightly as the man kept hold of Cazi and walked her back the way we all came. Cazi gave me a look of, “I can take him. Let me have him.” I shook my head slightly and returned a look, “Not yet.”
The Changewing then brought up the rear “herding” us back the way we came. Once at the secret door, the man had Dagmar reopen it. It revealed the large group of vikings that had been chasing us were grouped together right in front of us. Koll stopped and waited until everyone came out, including his Changewing. Cazi looked at me, “You know I can take him, we can’t let them just capture us.” I moved my eyes down to look at my left hand. I held out my pointer finger slightly to indicate, “Hold on, Cazi.” I then thought to myself and kind of chuckled, “Pun not intended.”
Cazi was looking at me like, “Why are you waiting?!”
The man then ordered, “Arne, get over here!”
“Yes sir,” Arne replied.
“Take this girl back to base, and get some men to take these others with you,” Koll told Arne, as he started handing Cazi to Arne.
Cazi got wide eyed at me. I nodded my head, “Now Cazi! Fredrick, thunder blast, forward!”
Simultaneously Cazi hit Arne in the head with her helmet, reversed Koll’s grip on her arms to where she had his and flipped him over her back, while Fredrick shot a thunder blast forward, wiping out all the vikings that were grouped together. Koll flew up and over Cazi and hit the ground on his back. Now he was clearly caught off guard. Fredrick’s blast knocked everybody in its path off their feet and in the same position that Koll was. Snowball then fired, on his own, at the Changewing. Snowball’s fire was not actually fire, but liquid ice; because when it hit the Changewing, it frozen on contact keeping the dragon pinned down momentarily.
I exclaimed as I jumped on Fredrick, “Come on guys! Let’s get out of here!”
We exited the cave to find that it might have been better to stay inside because there was a bigger battle outside. Fredrick suddenly shot a blast to my right without me giving a command.
“Thanks,” I patted my dragon. “Didn’t see those nets coming.”
I nudged Fredrick to fly high enough to get out of the catapults range. Once there, I steadied Fredrick and quickly got my eyeglass out. I looked at the ensuing battle below. We would not be able to turn the tides in our favor unless we were able to knock out the catapults on the ships. My friends could not get close enough to the catapults because other small boulder catapults as well as archers were giving too muchn cover fire for the catapults. My friends just could not get close enough.
So as to not draw attention to myself and the others I made a plan to get to the catapults.
“While Koll’s men are concentrating their cover fire for the catapults and the catapults fire on the dragons,” I replayed to the others that had been there. “We’ll get off our dragons and rush the catapults. Once we have the catapults we’ll turn them against Koll.”
Asvord was getting ready to follow, “Asvord! You are in no shape to follow. Stay on Spiker and help the others draw the catapults attention away from the rest of us.”
Asvord looked like she wanted to come, but knew I was right.
Cazi, Annabeth, Dagmar, Meen, and Thoreous followed me on their dragons as I led them around to the east. There was a large glacier that could provide the cover we needed to dismount our dragons. After we landed on the other side of the glacier, we got off our dragons then signaled or commanded them to go help the others. Before our dragons left however, we all got our weapons out. Cazi reach for her shield that was built like Hiccup’s, Annabeth pulled out both her swords from their holders on her saddle, Ashley acquired her sword from its holder strapped to her back, Dagmar grabbed her sword from Snowball’s saddle as well, Meen had her sword in its holder behind her back and also took out both her pans, Thoreous grabbed his battle axe, and Elsa got hers as well. I grabbed for my sword from Fredrick’s saddle. Since I was going to be in close combat, I did not put on my bow and left my quivers on my saddle.
Even though Elsa is small in stature, she could hold her own in a practice battle with Asvord. Still I stayed with my little sister at all times; she stayed right behind me.
We caught the archers by surprise as we rounded the corner of the opening near the ground. They were not expecting a ground assault; they were only equipped for short and long range bows and arrows.
Several of the archers stopped firing and started to rush us. One viking tried flat out bull me over. All I did was I dove down and rolled into his feet knocking him over. I kept rolled back up to my feet to see another viking coming at me, using his small sword he had on his hip. I parried his attack by standing my ground and blocking his forward momentum. When the swords collided, I did slide a few feet because the viking came with such force. However, I quickly subdued him as I was pushing back on him, but suddenly stopped pushing and jumped to the side. The viking was not expecting that.
Annabeth skillfully used both her swords to disarm two other vikings’ bows. She had a few assailents come from different angles. But she spun around twice, sliced all three vikings’ bows in the process, and finished it off with a punch in the stomach of the viking that was in front of her. The viking slumped over in the snow.
Though Cazi only had her shield, she knew how to use as a weapon and not just something to defend with. She would first allow the viking to attack. Then she would block their attack, whether it was a swiping motion with their bows or a crossing punch, with her shield. Once she blocked their attack, she would counter-attack by first hitting her aggressor in the face, therefore stunning him, and she would throw an uppercut to the chin then swinging her shield around to hit the viking either on the side of the head or the side of their body.
Ashley took to the higher ground as there was a line of boulders along the coast. Several arrows were shot at her, but she dodged every one of them. Ashley was going for the first catapult on the nearest ship. She ran across the boulders and jumped into the first ship to meet with the catapult gunner who had with him a small sword. They parried and attack for a few seconds. But the viking was no match for Ashley as she baited him into striking low, Ashley blocked him, and swung her sword in a circular motion and disarmed the viking. His sword went flying to the left and landed in the cold water. She finished him off with a punch to the stomach and knocking a nearby crate over his head. The other viking that was helping to load each net came rushing over as well, but was knocked unconscious because Ashley jumped and pushed with her legs into the guy, she had been fighting, into the other viking. She had just captured the first of three catapults. Cazi jumped up there with her to help load; and the two of them started firing on Koll’s own men. They started their fire on the vikings that had just come out of the cave, the same ones that nearly caught us.
Meen was having a ball with her pans. Each viking that came her way was met with a loud, “CLANG” over the head on their helmets. Meen blocked any and every attempt they had in trying to attack her, but the results… still the same. Meen left a trail of motionless bodies strewn about behind her. Each viking that tried, key word “tried”, to attack her in any way and some face time with her pans. Literally. They followed that meeting up with a face plant in the snow.
While all this was going on, I had been battling a few vikings myself. They tried to use their bows as swords. They attacked a few times, however when I had their bows pinned on the ground I threw a left cross and then a kick when they had gone off balance by the punch. After I completed subduing the third viking, I motioned Meen and Thor to take the second catapult.
Since Thor was following Meen, he did not have to do much anything while reaching the second catapult. Although, he did plenty once he got to the ship. While Meen was taking care of the gunner for the catapult, Thor was swinging the flat side of his axe against the vikings weapons they had picked up. After knocking their weapons to the side, the vikings then ran back to the other side of the ship. Thor threw his axe at them, but they stepped aside as the axe hit a large mast.
“Ha you missed,” said the viking gruffly.
The second viking the grabbed for axe and started coming towards Thor. Just then, both vikings were covered up with a sail sheet that had fallen down.
Thor breathed on his axe and rubbed it, “Maybe I miss on purpose.”
Meen had come over and finished knocking both vikings on the head. Meen and Thor had successfully captured the second catapult.
Annabeth, Dagmar, Elsa, and I were on our way towards the third catapult. There was not very many vikings near this one. There was only one gunner operating the catapult. All we had to do was knock out that viking and we had that catapult. I was about ready to call out to my friends to do something else when a loud foghorn coming from the open sea sounded off. I quickly got my eyepiece back out and looked out to the open sea.
Koll had reinforcements coming!
“Three incoming ships!” I exclaimed.
I told those that were with me to get on their dragons and warn the others and to regroup at the glacier. I wanted to stay and fire the last net on some nearby enemy vikings. They let out their appropriate dragon call for their dragon. Each dragon came and they got on their dragons and flew off to warn the others and regroup. I fired the net on the vikings that had been closing on this ship fast to take back the ship, but I stopped them in their tracks. I stepped back from the catapult and was about ready to call for my dragon. I was stepping on to the side of the ship and then felt myself go head over heels over the side of the ship and land on a slab of ice below.
I heard a voice say, “You won't be able to find us where we're going. Only a true Mollerson would know where to look.”
Then everything went dark!
I already told you this but for the sake of commenting I"ll say it again haha. okay so it's fun, interesting, mysterious (i didn't tell you that did I?), and CHAOTIC! it's an amazing chapter haha. Oh and you were right. The way I fight is funny XD and yes, you are making it exciting enough! ;p
Awesome battle scenes, but theres one thing and its not a complaint. I changed Cazi's weapon to a dager a long time ago. Sorry about the confusion
I love the action... and that last bit about a "true Mollerson" was really mysterious!
Sorry for not reading it for a long time, because of the final chapter. Its AWESOME! Can't wait for the next (and I think the last?) chapter!
Okay. I'll make the changes in the 2nd part. There won't be as big a battle scene, but there will be some.
