Earning Gold

Hey Iriss. One great way to earn more gold is to complete job board tasks. Many of these jobs will have you growing crops, raising livestock and collecting goods like eggs or wool, or catching fish. You can turn these in to the job board for big rewards. I'm sure your fellow players will also have some great suggestions on how to earn more gold in the game!

Fire Pits

Another really easy way to make a few gold is to light the fire pits in the Wilderness. There are 5 of them (that I know of) but you don't have to light all 5 in order to gain 150 gold. If you can find 3 or 4 of them, just go in a big circle between them all, lighting them using your dragon's fire as you go. You'll eventually get a little announcement saying something along the lines of "Congratulations!" and it'll give you the gold.

Hope this helps!

There's some fireplaces in the school to that do that. There are like three or four of them. One near the beach fishing area, and two near the great big waterfall in the school. One on the path up it and the other across from that path. There's another near the fishing pond by bucket and mulch.

I tried the trick of lighting

I tried the trick of lighting fires and we got coins! A whole FIVE coins. So we tried again, thinking we already had a job board quest open that we'd finished by lighting fires. Again, we got a pop-up that granted us FIVE coins.

That's a far-cry from 150 coins.

I'm also trying to figure out how many coins you earn for doing job board tasks.  As far as I can tell, it costs 224 coins to grow enough corn for the Maize whatever it's called, and you get 100 coins for completing it.

The sunflower job on the farm gets you something like 30 coins. Yay, that's enough to buy three worms.

Are we doing something wrong here? My son loves this game, but he's only 4, so I have to help him. He accidentally sold his free sheep, so we're trying to earn enough to buy him a new one, but at this rate, it's going to take us a week!

The fire pit deal was recently changed.

As for the produce, one 'seed' will usually produce more than one 'food.'

  • Corn produces 3 ears per seed. Each seed costs 14g. The reward is 100g for 16 ears. Therefore, 16 divided by 3 equals 5 and some, so you need 6 seeds to complete the job. 6 x 14g = 84g to complete the job. The reward being 100g, you subtract the price to complete it (84g) and end up with 100 - 84 = 16g profit. And you'll have some corn left over, which will eventually add up.
  • Sunflowers produce 12 flowers per seed. Each seed costs 30g. The reward is 140g for 36 flowers. Therefore 36 divided by 12 equals 3 even, so you need 3 seeds to complete the job. 3 x 30 = 90g to complete the job. The reward being 140g, you subtract the price to complete it (90g) and end up with 140 - 90 = 50g profit.

Now, the time to grow and water needed.

  • Corn requires 2 water per seed to grow in 5 minutes. 6 seeds times 2 water equals 12 water total per job. That's 12 water every five minutes, equaling 36 water for an uninterupted 15 minutes. Assuming you have the water, that's 16g every 5 minutes, for a total of 48g every 15 minutes.
  • Sunflowers require 3 water per seed to grow in 15 minutes. 3 seeds times 3 water equals 9 water total per job. That's 9 water every 15 minutes. Assuming you have the water (likely), that's 50g every 15 minutes

All in all, out of these two, Sunflowers are more profitable. This makes me want to type out a whole post on the economics of farming, though... -sigh-
