Modern Day Dragon Trainers | RP thread
I watch as this girl gets the dragon a fish. I suddenly get the strange feeling that humans aren't as bad as I think they are. But, then again, they did destroy night Furys, and built tall, grey trees over my habitat and kill some of my flock. I continue to watch the girl and the dragon for a while before I take off to spend some time alone, just me and my thoughts.
Nakarae soared high above a lush forest with his siblings at his sides. He spots a gronkle chomping on rocks below and spirals up into the clouds.
"Let's fly through the city," Norake called over to him.
"Good idea," Norakee replied.
Nakarae was tempted to agree with them but he remembered their mother who had died saving Norake from poachers, "Wait. What if the humans capture or kill us!"
"They wouldn't dare do that to us!" Norake argued as she tilted her wings and glided towards Nakarae.
"Look out! Riders flying towards the clouds!" Norakee screeches interrupting our argument.
I built a powerful blast in my throat letting it out and barrel rolled through it.
Is there another dragon like me? As I was walking, I wondered about this when I saw a girl feeding an almost the same dragon as me. Should I go closer or not? That's when I noticed a bush nearby. Maybe I can hide in it. I went closer. I tried to sneak softly, but failed thanks to a stick. So I ran quickly into the bush hoping they wouldn’t see me.
Oh, come on! I do not believe it! Maybe I could still escape. The black golden fury is already too close.
Today was a nice day. Sunny, warm, and a little breezy to cool one off.
Erin, a great big yet strange dragon laid on a warm rock by a small creek. At first glance one would think she was a strangely colored Night Fury-though that's only partially true. At a double take you would notice the extra pair of smaller eyes, a strange chin horn and even antennae's that swayed gentle in the breeze.
She was quite content with her life actually, nothing went wrong and no other dragon dared to mess with her-mostly because while she had a nasty bite, she was also nearly as big as a Monsterous Nightmare. Though her being quite the oddity made her a sight to behold-and one that some still existing dragon trappers would like. Smooth scales like her's made really nice bags or even pants.
Though little did she know, a stirring was happening nearby. One involving creatures similar to that of half her ancestors-The Night Fury.
---
"Lets see.." Casper whispered, tapping a pen to her lips as she thought. "The Reaping Fury: A creature thought to have d.ied off several thousand years ago still lives today. Being as elusive as a ghost themselves, they are actually- Ree are you even listening?"
The woman looked to her own dragon, Reaper, a real life Reaping Fury in the flesh purred contently on her trainer's lap. Well trainer isn't really accurate, more of her friend that happened to be a human. It was a long story, but that was one that could be told at a later date-if Casper ever got her input on a Reaping Fury in the famous Book of Dragons.
Yes it still existed, though the Orignal one was kept somewhere sacred there were copies upon copies everywhere, and nowadays it was as special as the Declaration of Independance. It was a key in dragon training, and with every year and every new trainer, there was yet much to be added-espeically with every new species that seemed to appear. Casper wanted to get something about Reaping Furies in there, seeing as while they weren't as wanted or as special as Night furies themselves, they were still a big part of her life and she hoped maybe she could even inspire young trainers.
Reaper gave a grumble of reluctant awakening, she opened her eyelids to stare at her friend before looking at the city before them. It was a great city, filled with many dragons and their riders, but because of that many rules were set in place. Why? Well, when you have both dragons and technology-it tends to get a little overwhelming. But during the day it was always as beautiful as one would think-even when your sitting on top a building with your legs dangling down in a carefree way.
"Oh stop it Ree, you know that this was bound to happen eventually. And just think: what if we helped find a Night Fury?... Wouldn't that be something..." she trailed off and watched as various dragons flew by both free and accompanied by humans.
While there was almost every species you could imagine, there was a lack of one species in particular: the Night fury. Rare beyond all belief, they were really the start of it all. Or Toothless according to the History books. Yes while Ree was a fury, she was only a mere subspecies much like the Light fury, or a Night Light-which were in high demand due to their heritage and b.lood. Furies were always wanted, but night furies were the real prize. If even a splash of NF b.lood existed in a dragon, they could be used for races, experiments and even-Odin forbid it- dragon traders. That's why Casper wanted something up about Reaper and her species, she believed that Reapings were actually the first furies before the NF, and if they could just examine more about them-maybe they could even find more and protect them...
But that was only if she could get her stuff written down and accepted by the Book's Watchers, those who are direct decendants of the Orignal writers and Riders. Those who seemed so enlightened that they have to be a little selfish to be able to even touch it. It disgusted her, but of course laws were laws.
And there was only so many she could break without getting in trouble.
A few minutes of flying wore off my invisibility and I hovered above a park(That is where I assume Dakota is. You can correct me) to wait for my siblings.
Norake arrived and spun around to look for me, she soon spotted me. "Wheres Norakee?"
"Right here," Norakee replied as he materialized next to me.
"I see furys down there," Norake calls to us.
"What are the doing! The're right next to a human," I replied.
-Szonja. i answered.
I turned my head curiously. What do you want from me? I growled curiously. I looked at her. She didn’t seem dangerous at all so I came out of the bush and stretched out my legs. It felt so good they didn't hurt anymore. I was strange about something, though. Azule was smaller than me. At that moment, I stretched out my wings because they were already very boomed.
As the minutes passed by, a Deathgripper landed to a nearby pond for a drink. He looked at the Furies curiously before taking his attention to the water. He seemed quite old and his body was covered in scars.
Once he finished drinking, he started walking a little bit foward to the Furies, but then stopped. He didn't know who they were but wasn't growling at them, and just sat there.
Norake let out a roar as she dove down towards the ground. Time for some fun. "FREEEE THEEE DRAGONSSSSS!!!!!!!!" she roared. She continued her decent until she was a few feet above them then she pulled up. I watched as my siblings dove down saying similar things. "Regroup," I called and raced for the cover of the clouds.
Any other day would make Erin curious to go check out the other dragons. Today was not that day, she hated being interrupted in her sunbathing time-and sometimes it was just one of those days where she was not in the mood to hear draconic battle cries.
"Crackling sparks!" She cursed, rolling over and sitting upright to listen, her night fury-esque ears twitching and slightly moving to listen. "Of all days there's a commotion! And I just got to dreaming..." she shook herself off and started heading over, knowing that they'd surely stop if they saw her massive bulk coming towards them-though the thought of finding something interesting peiqued her interest.

"So, what do you think we can add?" Casper asked Reaper again, moving the paper to let her dragon see what was written. Fun fact: furies can actually read... or Reaper can... ish... It made editing and adding interesting. Reaper sniffed the page and let out a small sneeze, thankfully not on the paper.
"Ah right, your horns right?" Casper nodded, as if the dragon had actually answered that way. "Horns retract..." she summed up as she wrote.

"What are you doing here?" Norake asks the strange fury.
"We wern't attacking you we were freeing you!" Norakee exclaims.
- But as I saw, she doesn't need freeing. I shouted.
"Oh we didn't think of that." Nakarae responds.
"Playing?" Nakarae asks.
"Um... well... uh..." Norakee stamered
"What he means is that we have to hunt, protect and grow our teritory, run from poachers, and try to stay alive. Ussualy only dragonets have time to play, we didn't have that time." Nakarae explains.
"Why would we be anywhere near humans," Norake snaraled. "They are dangerous and dragons should have never been trained by them in the first place."
"You're wrong," Norake groweled. " Humans kill dragons for fun, have you experianced that?"
"Whats your name?" Norakee asked ignoring his sister.
Guardian looked at the dragons in the air, then stood up to walk away. As he jumped over a fallen tree, he notices another kind of Fury-Like dragon.
He approached Reaper cautiously, only to then stop noticing she wasn't alone. Not really wanting to disturb them, he started facing the other way to leave, but accidentaly crushed a tree branch.
Reaper whipped to stand. putting herself inbetween her and her rider. The tree they sat on overlooked the city, but honestly Casper had forgotten where they were for a second.
"Ree what is it now?" Casper sighed, tired of the countless interruptions. She got up, folded her paper, put in in her saddle bag... then looked up. "Don't move Ree..."
((Reaper talking will be in italics when she talks))
"Who are you? What makes you think you can sneak up on me?" Reaper hissed her silvery horns sliding fully into their full size. Her lilac pupil slitted into a barely seeable sliver in her nearly full black eyes. "Answer me Gripper" she hissed, using the nickname 'gripper' as nearly an insult.

Erin continued to stalk through the forest, her tail hovering just barely over the grass and rocks while her limbs stomped on other various objects in her way until she came upon a strange sight. Furies speaking to one another. Like actual furies-though she couldn't be sure. Many dragons nearly seem like the fabled Night Fury, and Erin could never be sure anymore-though it was funny to watch them talk when they had no idea she was here...
"Answer me!!!" Norake roars loudly.
"Lets meet this Dakota, okcomeonNorakee(ok come on Norakee)." Nakarae says before diving down to land in frount of Dakota.
Guardian stayed calm and wise despite the behavior of Reaper.
"My deepest apologies to have disturbed the both of you. I just never have seen a dragon like you, and my curiosity brought me to approach. I had no intention to harm the both of you." Guardian replied, sitting down.
---
Appalla was sleeping on a rock, away from the Fury pack. She seemed to have felt a presence nearby and looked around with her head, trying to figure out who could it be.
Reaper calmed down, Casper wasn't too worried in the first place and even dared to get a little closer.
"A D.eath Gripper... never met one before." the woman whispered, sitting a little ways in front of it, Reaper nudged her rider's arm, not liking this at all. "Oh shush Ree, i've dealt with worse."
"You promise no harm will come to us?" Reaper asked, still not too sure on the dragon's intentions.
"Why would I? I'd rather eat fish than humans and other dragons. I'm too old to hunt down big preys." Guardian replied. "After all, a Fury Protector must keeps his promise to keep Furies safe." He then says.
Reaper looked at the dragon again, then sat down as well. Her spikes retreating back as she calmed down-a bit.
"Fury protector?" she asked, glancing to her rider from the side of her eyes.
"I've been protecting the Fury species most of my life. It's a traddition I passed down in my family throught the years. Our goal is to save as much Furies as we can and protect them if they call for help." Guardian replied, laying down on the grass.
"At least the dragonet is smart" Norake says as she lands next to her brothers.
"Um... Azule? Are all humans like this?" Norakee askes.
" I'm Norake and theese are my brothers Nakarae and Norakee." Norake answers.
"Boop!" Norakee rawrs after booping Dakota with the tip of his tail.
"That's... that's actually pretty cool..." Reaper admitted sheepishly, a little embarressed that she had nearly attacked the older dragon.
"I've never seen markings like that on a D.eath Gripper before..." Casper whispered, suddenly holding a sketchbook and now currently sketching Guardian, looking up every once in a while to make sure she got it right.
"Forgive the human. She's been hit in the head too many times, and she tends to be dragon nerdy." Ree looked over to the human with much love.
"YES!" Norakee exclaimed. "Look at her! I want to curl up in a little moss nest with her!"
"Ok" Nakarae replied.
"I guess I will stay>" Norake says.
Dragons were abundant in the Viking era. Vikings fought, killed, trained,
and even rode dragons. Thousands of years later dragons still exist. People
have learned new methods of training them. Some people keep them as pets.
Some people hunt them for sport or food, and some people train and ride
them. However some people still believe that humans should not care about
dragons and that we are better off without them. Schools have been
started to teach people about dragons. Laws have been made to keep people
from abusing dragons or their powers. Most dragon species still exist in
large numbers but one dragon species is so rare it may even be extinct.
Night Furies. Night Furies are hardly seen. Only a few unconfirmed
sightings happen every year. They were hunted to extinction a long time ago.
Some people think that they still exist but other people think that they are
gone.
Dakota is one of the few people who belives they still exist. Because she has two of them. Azule nudged her and growled. "All right silly girl i'll get ou some food." Dakota said while getting Azule a fish.
