Hey everyone! Spy here, and I want to bring you my newest species; The Frilled Acidspitters!

The adoption rules will be posted below, along with the dragons and a tracking post. So, three posts. Please do not reply until I have them posted.
You can read the info HERE!

Please do not try to ignore the long info, I spent a good deal of time thinking of it and typing it, plus the info is needed for an accepted story.

If you need some inspiration, I'm working on Rumble Outbreak's story.

Sorry for the watermark, I don't feel like removing it .-.

Anyway, please do not reply until I have gotten the three posts down. Thanks for reading!

Adoption Rules

1. Do not reply to the do not reply posts. Very self explanitory. If you do, I will stop doing these.

2. You may not adopt if you have been mean to me in the past. There will possibly be a few acceptions, but I do not want my dragons to go to mean owners.

3. I must be credited. If you do not credit me, I will take back your adoption. These are made completely by me.

4. Thank MajoraTheHylian! She helped me decide the name for the species! Thanks Majora!

5. Do not argue or be mean. If you do not get the Acidspitter you wanted, chill out. I am trying to be nice, but these each are unique. The colors are all different. There are as many patterns as I can think of. I will keep making these until someone messes this post up, I run out of ideas for patterns, or this thread goes inactive.

6. Your story must start with Strawberry and I leaving Berk with you, us guiding you to the island. If your story does not, I will likely ignore it.

7. There is reserving, but only on very special acceptions. I will not just simply reserve one for you. You must have gotten some special acception/reason to get one, likely via pm.

8. Backstories must be at least three decent paragraphs! I will not read anything shorter, but feel free to write more!

9. You may adopt one per pack! This might be changed later, but right now, one per pack until you have five or more. Then, you may adopt one every other pack.

pattern: 1

pack: 2

number: 3

name: Glacier

gender: female

personality: Glacier is an active Frilled Acidspitter. She likes to go wandering in forests. She is awared of strangers and attacks them when she sees any.

backstory:

I always stay tuned to Spy’s new adoptable dragons. One early morning, while I was having some bread and milk for breakfast, I looked out the window and saw that Spy has come back from a journey with one of her Aquaborealis, Strawberry. She was setting up a table for people to sign up for a guide to an island full of a new species she has found, called the Frilled Acidspitter. I was super excited to hear that. So I ran out of the house quickly with a slice of bread still being chewed in my mouth. Loads of people were signing up to get a chance to go to the island. I signed up for tomorrow and went skipping back home.

The next day, I went to meet with Spy at the harbour on Berk. She asked me if I was ready for the trip and I nodded my head joyfully. I rode on Ocean and Spy rode on Strawberry. And she guided me to the island of Frilled Acidspitters. On the way, Spy told me some information and tips on taming them.

Soon we arrived at a huge island. There was a big forest there. Spy said she’ll wait at the rocks here while I go find one. I thanked her and ran to the forest with Ocean. There were sounds of the bugs and birds around. There were many tall trees. I barely see the sky. Flames and I walked to a place near a small river. Suddenly, some acid spitted near us to the tree around us. The tree dissolved a bit. I thought it was a changewing but when I turned my back around and plan to deal with it, I found that it wasn’t a changewing. It was what i wanted to own, a Frilled Acidspitter.

The Frilled Acidspitter flared her fangs wildly and started to hiss. I feel that she was trying to scare me off. Well though I was a bit scared, I didn’t back off. She swung his tail around and started to spit her acid and venom to me. Ocean and I dodged it and I started to try thinking of a way to tame it. She kept chasing me. She tried to bite me but Ocean warned me immediately and I jumped and ran quickly. Soon I thought of a plan to tame it. I took out an eel I caught earlier yesterday from my bag and threw it on the ground near the Frilled Acidspitter while running and trying not to get dissolved. She jumped off the ground with a terrified look. I spent this moment shooting a net on her while she’s not paying any attention at all on me. I went near it and she struggled to get out.

I took out a large piece of meat walked to her. And for the first time, I saw how beautiful she looked, probably because I was busy trying to keep myself alive. Her light cyan coloured skin looked fantastic with the icy blue frills. She has white markings over herself. I stepped another step forward ‘Hey girl, you look pretty nice. Would you want to come home with me?’ I said, as I held out my hand. She gave a tiny growl at first but after she saw my smile, she lend forward. I shut my eyes because I thought my hand would be dissolved. But what I felt, was a head in my palms. I was very delighted to tame a Frilled Acidspitter. I got inspired by her icy blue frills and named her Glacier.

I rode on my new friend Glacier to meet up with Spy at the beach on the island. She was drawing a picture of the Frilled Acidspitter. She noticed me walking back to her with Glacier and smiled. We went home together and I gave Glacier a large bucket of fish as soon we arrive home.

Sorry, Rejected.

Ok, well, sorry, rejected.

First of all. Where did Flames come from?

Second, the acid is one of the last lines of defense. Flaring their frills is one of the first.

Third, they eat the eels, but wouldn't eat it instantly from an unknown person. They would look at it curiously, then test it, and glare at you while it eats the eel.

Fourth, Frilled Acidspitters are very, very alert. They are always on the watch. It says so in the intro for the info page.

Fifth, the markings are actually a very light cyan.

Sixth, the bonding is too quick.

Fix that, and you've got your story! It's a great start though!

There were sounds of the bugs and birds around. There were many tall trees. I barely see the sky. Ocean and I walked to a place near a small river. Suddenly, I heard a tiny but fierce growl. When I turned around to see what’s behind, I was shocked. It was what i wanted to own, a Frilled Acidspitter. She was flaring her frills wildly at that time, which looks a bit scary,

I was a bit afraid of her at the beginning and thought of running away. But as I thought taming one was the purpose of coming, I stick up and walked forward. I took out an eel I caught earlier today and threw it near the Frilled Acidspitter carefully. She looked a bit curious and sniffed it. Soon as she saw me smiling, she eats the eel slowly and glares at me at the same time. I was relieved that I wasn’t killed yet. And for the first time, I saw how beautiful she looked, probably because I was too nervous. Her light cyan coloured skin looked fantastic with the icy blue frills. She has very light cyan coloured markings over herself. I took another step forward slowly ‘Hey girl, you look pretty nice. I never saw any of your species. Would you want to come home with me? I’d take good care of you’ I said, as I held out my hand. She gave a tiny growl. ‘It’s ok, girl. I’ll promise that I’ll give you loads of food every day, yummy food.’ I said as I smiled and walked nearer. She thought for a bit and felt more comfortable. Soon, she lent a bit forward. I shut my eyes and expected my hand to be dissolved by her acid. But what I felt was a head in my palms. I was very delighted to tame a Frilled Acidspitter. She walked to Ocean and hissed something to her friendlily. I think she was saying ‘hello’. I got inspired by her icy blue frills and named her Glacier.

take 3 !

heres the new one :

I always stay tuned to Spy’s new adoptable dragons. One early morning, while I was having some bread and milk for breakfast, I looked out the window and saw that Spy has come back from a journey with one of her Aquaborealis, Strawberry. She was setting up a table for people to sign up for a guide to an island full of a new species she has found, called the Frilled Acidspitter. I was super excited to hear that.

Ocean and I walked to a place near a small river. Suddenly, I heard a pack of unknown creatures coming. When I turn my back around to check out, I was very surprised. It was a pack of Frilled Acidspitter hunting for food. I looked at them behind a log to make sure they didn’t see me. Every one of them looked stunning. But my eyes can’t stop looking at one particular one. The one I was glaring at was a lady with cyan coloured skin with icy blue frills. Her markings were also in very light cyan. I decided to try to tame that one.

I asked Ocean to stay back a bit and tiptoed to the pack with an eel in my hand. All of them noticed me and walked to me slowly, probably because all of them wanted the eel. ‘No I meant you.’ I said as I pointed to the one I like. All of them looked at each other since they have no idea on what I said. I remembered that Aquaborealis can communicate with them so I asked ocean to tell her I want her to come with me. After some talk between Ocean and the Frilled Acidspitter, she finally came out.

I gave her the eel and she looked at it curiously. But later she ate it slowly and looked at me at the same time. ‘Hey girl, you look pretty nice. Wanna come home with me?’ I said as I gave a warm smile and walked a bit forward. She looked a bit scared and backed off a bit. Then, she gave a tiny growl. She flared her frills and I knew this wasn’t going to be good. I didn’t move much. Later, she raised her legs and moved forward to me. She swung her tail to me and started spitting acid out to me. I dodged everything and tried to think of a plan. Soon, I found that she was slowing down. When she wasn’t too close to me, I took another eel from my bag and gave it to her. She hesitated and looked at me. Then she ate it while looking at me again. I gave her a couple of more eels and she started to trust me. I held out my hand and try to tame her. i expected my hand to be dissolved by acid. But what I got was a head in my palms. I’ve tamed her. I started to try riding on her. Well, it took a few eels at the beginning but it was fine later. I saw her frills once again and thought that it would be nice to name her Glacier. She kinda likes that name too and gave me a cute look.

I rode on my new friend Glacier with Ocean next to me to meet up with Spy at the rocks on the island. She was drawing a picture of the Frilled Acidspitter. She noticed me walking back to her with Glacier and smiled. ‘Seems like you’ve tamed one.’ She said as she looked through Glacier. ‘Yup.’ I said as I smiled back. We went home together and I gave Glacier a large bucket of fish as soon we arrive home.

Thanks Majorathehylian!

Pattern: 1

Pack: 2

Number: 6

Name: Aora

Gender: Male

Personality: Aora is a bit cocky and thinks he can beat anyone. He's still trying to get the upper hand in me. He loves racing and fighting other dragons (he doesn't poison mine or Berk's at my request). He is also just a touch conceited and when no one is looking he admires his own reflection, but at his core he's sweet and loving. He doesn't like it when others of his pack are picked on and is fiercely protective of them. He has a secret fear of storms and sneaks in for comfort when it booms and bangs outside. He loves eels and fish and enjoys his frills being scratched. That and a warm fire are his favorite things in the world.
Backstory (At least three good paragraphs):

I felt nervous as Leir and I followed after Spy and Strawberry. She'd come back to Berk recently with tales of a new dragon species and had offered to take me and see if I couldn't tame one. After hearing about them I'd prepared some wooden armor for my body as they did have a potent venom. I also had a small bag of eels. Leir wasn't too happy about them but I'd tightly tied them and he had settled. I still didn't understand why dragons had such a dislike to them but perhaps one day some Viking would figure it out.

We finally arrived on a humid little island where we quickly took off our extra layers of clothes. I had hollowed some small wood trees to make armor for my arms and shins which I tied on. I placed a metal plate under my shirt in the front and back. I pulled on some thick gloves, tied my hair back, and checked my boots. This was the best armor I could come up with to protect from their poison. When I found one I would put on my wooden mask but it was too hot to run around with it. Spy had laughed herself silly at my funny outfit but had nodded approvingly when I explained it to her. It was an interesting idea and we'd soon see if it worked.

Spy gave me one last rundown of all she knew about them before we made our way into the jungle. That's all I could think as we trooped on looking for any sign of them. For quite some time we trekked through the heat finding nothing before Spy motioned me over and pointed out some tracks. We both crept quietly following the tracks until we saw a cave in the distance. We hide behind the trees and watched as a pack of the most color blue and green strange dragons came running out and off to hunt or do whatever it is they did in the wild. Spy motioned to the entrance of the cave and then at a single one coming out on his own. He was a beautiful mostly green fellow with blue frills and striking green stripes. I watched as he took another path towards the river for a drink. I pulled on my mask, grabbed my bag, and followed him.

The male was drinking water as I trod up to him. He heard the thunk of my armor and leaped away from me before turning to stare in bewilderment. My first impression had done the job. I tapped my wooden armored arms together challengingly and the fellow seemed to get the gist of it. His frills puffed out and he rose up on his hind legs growing larger. I attempted to look larger as well by raising my arms above my head and letting out a whoop. He replied with his own guttural cry before he lunged at me. I had enough time to stick my arm out in front of me. His teeth got caught in the wood as he tried to bite and I used my other arm to thwack him across the head.

The fellow managed to pull loose after a few sharp tugs and he danced about me cautiously. I turned my body with him so that he never got behind me. He didn't seem to like it and tried to run straight for me with his head lowered. He smacked hard into the metal on my chest. With a startled cry he plopped onto the ground his eyes looking unfocused. I'd outwitted him in battle. I rubbed my chest glad that he hadn't been far enough to get a good run up. Now came the hard part.

I pulled out a snake from my bag, yanking off my mask, and holding it in front of his eyes. A few minutes later he recovered and the first thing he saw was the snake. He snapped it up happily and ate it. Then he eyed me suspiciously not trusting me. I smiled softly and pulled out the next one. "Come home with me and I can promise many more,"I spoke softly to him. He tilted his head thoughtfully as if he understood me. Finally he took the next snake and happily ate it. He ate two more before he let me place a hand on him. Playing hard to get? Finally I was scratching him behind the frill and he was practically purring. After that Aora was mine. He took me for a run about the island and that was it. I'd won a friend for life in him.

There are a few little errors, but they're very minor. Like calling eels, snakes xD

The bonding is a little sudden, and typically they wouldn't charge right at you, but I'll let it pass since we were discussing via pm ;)

Adopted! Take great care of Aora, as he will be somewhat defiant the first few weeks in your clutch :)

No.

Have you read the Adoption Rules and Adoption Form?

The Adoption Form must be completely filled out with an original backstory that fits the dragon for even a chance. Please read the Adoption Rules and Adoption Form.

A few tips to a good bonding

First you must find a pack and hopefully lure one out alone (eels are handy for this). Perhaps the best way is to find their nesting cave and watch until one emerges for some reason.

Second, you must impress them in combat or battle. First off they show off their frills, then raise up on hind legs to intimidate. Third they only spit acid as a last resort. They use their tails to wrap around preys arms, legs, body, etc. (also they are smart fighters generally and don't randomly charge about. Aora is a unique individual who does but that's his personality really). Remember they can fly for short spurts and are probably excellent jumpers.

Third, once you impressed one in combat you feed it eels. It will be hesitant and watchful but will take the food. It may take several eels and coaxing to earn their trust. It is not instantaneous. Just because you've won the fight doesn't mean you have completely won them over. Some will be harder to gain their trust. Keep trying.

Don't give up! These are wonderful dragons and they will be great companions. Hopefully this little guide helps. And hopefully I didn't forget anything Spy?

Good. Luck!

That's Pretty Much It.

Not really, that's pretty much it. Anyone who fully read the info should have gotten that. They are excellent gliders, fairly bad flyers, and okay jumpers. They can jump and glide somewhat upwards from it, catching wind currents and able to glide like that for hours. Their swimming ability is pathetic in compatison to Aquaborealis.

Thanks for the name Majora!

Adoption form:

Pattern: 1

Pack: 2

Number: 1

Name: Althea

Gender: Female

Personality:

Althea was aggressive at first, but she had a good heart. She loves helping others and seems to be very loyal.

Backstory (At least three good paragraphs):

Icewing, my deadly nadder, followed Spy and Strawberry cautiously. We didn't know what was waiting for us on the island, We watched as the island slowly came into view.  Spy landed and told me what she knew about the dragons. Icewing and I trekked through the underbrush, looking for a pack of Frilled Acidspitters.

Icewing stayed behind me, watching for any sign of danger lurking in the shadows. After ten minutes of long trekking, I felt like giving up. I stopped moving when I saw tiny bits of meat. "Come on girl," I murmured. Icewing stopped playing with a leaf of some sort and followed me again.

We followed the trail for quite some time, sometimes it ended, and we would have to look around for more pieces. I bet it's the Acidspitter. I thought. I kept walking until I bumped into something. I looked up to see what it was, and it was a Frilled Acidspitter, and its' friends.

"Oh.... heh..." I chuckled slightly as the dragons slowly circled me. "S-sorry I didn't see you there." I murmured. They didn't seem to care much for my apology. Their frills moved up recklessly, and hissed. Icewing roared, trying to scare them off, but it didn't work.

They stood on their back legs threatingly, and slashed their tails. I was frightened, but there was no where to go. Acid began to drip down from the dragons' mouths. "Icewing" I whispered. "Fly." I got onto Icewing's back quickly. She shot for the sky right before one of the dragons, a light blue with a dark blue frill, almost bit me.

Some of them started to fly towards me, but as soon as they had started, they stopped. All of them, after a while, began to run up a mountain near where Icewing and I were flying. I knew what they were about to do but it was too late. One of them grasped Icewing's wing in their teeth, and she fell to the ground.

Tumbling from the sky, I braced myself for landing. We landed a little ways from the rest of the pack, and we had nothing to defend ourselves with. Icewing was badly injured, and she couldn't fight. I saw a nearby lake, and franticly searched the water, hoping for an eel. I found one just in time, they started clawing Icewing violently.

I held up the eel and yelled "Who wants some dinner?" They all looked up from their attacking, and started running towards me. They crowded me, snapping for the eel. I kept it out of their reach for as long as I could, and threw it to a nearby tree. I didn't see who caught it, but it didn't matter. We had to get away.

I helped Icewing get up, with her wing severed and her body covered in scratches and claw marks. I helped her run away.  I saw a face of one of them look up, but it didn't matter to me anymore about taming one. After one of them finishing off the eel, they all turned towards me, pushing Icewing slowly across the rugged terrain. We didn't get very far before they all started attacking us.

Just when I thought it was all over, one of them looked up at me affectionetly. It was the dragon I noticed earlier that had grabbed the eel.  All of the others had stopped, when they realized one of their own was helping me. She helped me carry Icewing the rest of the way back.

I decided to name her Althea, because she helped me heal Icewing.

((Althea - healer in Greek))

    Sorry, Rejected.

Again, the bonding is waaaaay too sudden! These dragons would not trust you and take food from you instantly! They would not crowd you, unless they were about to tear you to pieces after you angered them greatly (Killing their hatchlings/eggs for example)!

Sorry, rejected. But, if you fix that part, feel free to try again! It's a great story otherwise!

    Thank majora!

    Pattern: 1

    Pack: 1

    Number: 2

    Name: Flashfire. (Flash for short)

     Gender: Female

Personality: A bit of a hothead she doesn't like other dragon species and prefers to stick close to her own kind or me. Flash has a habit of trying to scare off strangers with her frill and height. She loves warm days and sunbathing. Aora keeps her out of too much trouble and doesn't let her actually hurt anyone. We are hoping with time she'll warm up to Berk. She doesn't let anyone ride her ever.
Backstory (At least three good paragraphs):

Spy and strawberry once more joined me on my trek back to the island. Aora had been quite lonely lately and we thought a visit home would help him. We landed on the beach and this time I felt confident enough not to bring any armor. Today it was me, Aora and a bag of eels. I let him run on ahead as I followed him through the thick foliage. I was surprised when he stopped to sniff and then went in a complete different direction from his old nest. Where were we going?

Aora stopped short behind some brush and knocked me off my feet with his tail. I sighed softly. He and I were still finding our common ground. He liked to act like I was a unruly child that didn't listen but I knew given time we'd get there. I heard the sound of many feet running by just in front of us. Then I crawled over and peeked through a bush just in time to see the tail end of the pack running by. I quickly pulled out a chunk of eel and threw it at the legs of the last Frill. She stopped and looked about. After seeing the food she happily ate it and continued looking. I tossed out several more pieces while the pack got further away.

Aora nodded approvingly and padded off a ways as if to say 'it's all yours'. With a shake of my head I emerged from the bush arms held out. The red, orange and yellow lady was quite stunning. I noted she had the same markings as Aora but in a green color. Was Aora looking for a mate? I wasn't sure but I didn't have time to think about it. The fiery lady opened her frills and hissed at me. Then she rose up on her hind legs and hissed louder.

I nodded my head to her and dropped my bag. She swiped out at my feet with her tail but I was used to Aora doing this, so I jumped at the right moment and landed again. Her eyes blazed as if she was taking it as a challenge. Something told me she wouldn't be easy to beat. She swiped out at me again, with her tail, and I was a second too slow. It wrapped about my arm and pulled. I grabbed the tail with my other arm and pulled back. "Nuh-uh!" I grunted as we tugged against each other for a bit. Then she gave another sharp yank and I fell off my feet.

I groaned and held tight to her tail as it came unfurled. She went ballistic and reared at me as if to bite, but Aora was there. He lunged between the two of us and blocked her bite. Aora held her off long enough for me to rise and let go. Then he jumped out of the match but she was after him. Oh forget this!  I grabbed onto her back and tried to hold on. She freaked out, forgetting Aora, and trying to reach around and bite me. I grabbed her neck in both arms and we ran about in circles for a time as neither of us made any ground. Finally I found the spot behind her frill that made Aora collapse with joy everytime I scratched. We dropped like a rock as her legs gave out and her eyes rolled back in her head.

Somehow I untangled myself and made it to the eel bag. I placed a few pieces before her. When she awoke from her brief episode she ate them while eying me and hissing. She hissed whenever I came near so I threw her eel bites, each time a little closer to me, forcing me to come a little closer. She refused to get close enough to touch me and I had a feeling she wouldn't be coming home today.

"We'll see you tomorrow you fiery Lady, " I tossed the last piece to her and climbed onto Aora. We took off running and she followed until we arrived at the beach. She hissed at us but watched us leave. The next day we arrived and found her waiting in the same spot. It took several more trips but she finally warmed to me and we made progress. She let me scratch on and pet her but didn't want me riding her, so when she finally came home with us I rode on Aora.

(I sort of assume there's a spot behind their frills that does that. My dog has a spot that does something similar so I took it from him.)

    Adopted!

I remember seeing a little part off when I first read it, but then had to go for a bit and didn't get to reply. Just skimmed over it again and couldn't find it, so I guess it's good xD
    Simple enough, and Adopted!

Take good care of Flashfire! Personally, she was my favorite out of all the ones I've made for the Adoptables. Take great care of her, she is quite rebellious!

    Thanks I got the feeling

Thanks I got the feeling she'd be a hard Adopt when I looked at her. She makes you work for every inch. Quite the opposite of Aora. I still don't know why he led me to this pack but I've learned to trust the dragons.

I wonder if it was the fight that was off? I didn't intend her to give me a fight when I wrote it, but she pretty much took the story her way. So much for my 'easy'  second adoption. Lol dragons.

    Here's A Passing Story.

Since most people are not getting it, I will do a somewhat basic adoption.

My character will be Faun, with her Flightmare, Roark. And I'll write in first person, since I typically write in third, but many people write in first. I will try to keep it more simple, but as anyone who has read a backstory I've written lately knows that I often go off into detail. There will be a few grammatical/spelling errors, and whoever finds all of them gets a custom one! Any mistakes are likely to be on purpose :3

    Pattern: 1

    Pack: 1

    Number: 3

Name: Fiery Winds (Many people know I like to use two word names xD)

    Gender: Male

Personality: A courageous little male who is quick to anger. He likes to run alongside Spy's Rumble Outbreak. Eels flee when he runs into a river, but never goes deep enough to catch one of his own.

    Backstory:

I woke up one morning. My flightmare, Roark, was watching me nap from his spot next to my bed. He yawned, and got up. I tried to wipe the sleep from my eyes as Roark left the room.
Roark returned after a few minutes, and he urged me to follow him. I got ready, and braided my hair sloppily. My scarlet hair tried to break from the braid as Faun mounted Roark and he brought me to Spy's stables. As I dismounted Roark on a small lawn near her stables, Spy emerged with Strawberry, her Aquaborealis.

The red Aquaborealis was strikingly beautiful, and had wonderful markings. As Spy walked over to meet me, I explained to her Roark had brought me here.

"That would make sense, I did find some new dragons. Meet Rumble Outbreak, the Frilled Acidspitter!" Spy responded, and motioned to a reptillian dragon with two layers of frill, stripes, and bright colors. It hissed at me, and flared its frill. Spy took a fish out of her bag and tossed it high in the air. Rumble shot acid at it on his back legs, and the fish melted to ash.

"Woah! It shoots acid?!" I shouted, surprised at the dragon. It was bigger than a speedstinger, but smaller than an Aquaborealis. The dragon looked satisfied, and walked back to the stables on four legs.

"Like 'em? I found an island full of them!" Spy said proudly.
I gasped, and Roark widened his eyes. "A new species, and that many?! I want to go!"

Spy chuckled playfully, "Alrighty. Follow me and Strawberry!"

Spy launched into the sky, riding Strawberry. Mounting Roark, the two of us barely caught up.
After a while, we reached the island. Spy handed me a bag of eels, and Roark growled. "It's ok Roark, they're not for you."

He was still tense. I patted his head, and mounted him. Spy said she would wait with Strawberry on the beach, and probably draw in the black sand. Strawberry had fun chasing crabs around the rock.

Climbing on Roark, we dove into the forest. After a few minutes of searching, I found some tracks. I tried to get Roark to get a better view, but he culdn't break through the thick trees.

We followed the tracks until the forest gave way to a field. A pack of Frilled Acidspitters were hunting. It was a amazing sight! They were in a great order!

I reached into the bag of eels. Roark growled, and I shushed him. He grunted and shrugged me off. He tensed up as one of the Acidspitters sniffed the air. It was a bright red one with yellow stripes and orange frill. It hissed and raised its frills.

The rest of the pack sniffed the air, and soon all of them looked towards me and Roark. I reached into the bag and threw an eel at them. They all hissed and stared to run towards me. I ran to Roark, eel in my hands. He panicked and jumped into the sky. I saw Roark start to soar to the beach.

As the group glided over the field, I shoved an eel in front of me. They all approached me, hissing.
"Um, um... H-h-hi. Umm... Uh, um... Ca-can-can I..." I stuttered. One of the dragons hissed at me, and flared its frills. it was obviously the alpha.

"Um, n-n-not t-t-to bother you d-d-dr-a-dragons, but," My voice was shaking, along with the rest of my body. These dragons were no joke. "c-can I m-m-m-meet you?" I said and pointed at the red one with yellow markings and orange frill. The alpha looked over and motioned it with its head. They discussed a bit in hisses and growls, and the red Acidspitter growled as it approached.

    "H-h-hi. I'm F-f-faun."

Spy's advice echoed in my mind, Don't be afraid of them. Show them fear and you'll never get their respect. Show them that you can controll their chaos.

I cleared my throat. "I am Faun. I want you to join my family, Fiery Winds." I pointed to the red one again.

It hissed, flaring its frill fiercely. Standing on its back legs, he was taller than I.

Fiery Winds watched me with glaring eyes, as I tried to get onto his back. He lept and glided around, and we fought like that for over an hour.

By the time I gave way to his surperior defense, my eel bag was empty, and my legs felt like jelly. Fiery Winds approached once more, on all fours. His frill was down, and his eyes were soft.

I reached out with a bruised hand, and he didn't burn it with acid. Instead, he placed his muzzle gently under my hand. I smiled, ear to ear, and Fiery let me mount him.

We glided to the beach after the alpha considered me worthy. Roark was sitting on a rock, taking a nap in the sunlight. Spy was just finishing a drawing in the dark sand, and Strawberry was making her own doodle. Of course, it kept getting ruined by the waves (She was too close to the ocean).

"I see you have tamed one," Spy said, nodding in approval.

Roark woke up, and yawned. Once he saw Fiery Winds, he yelped and got ready to attack. I introduced everyone to my new Acidspitter, and Spy guided us back to Berk.

Fiery Winds decided to stay with us, and he often goes off, gliding in the wind currents.

That is a passing story, I know it's a bit long, and there are mistakes. Mistakes made on purpose :3

There are actually exactly 10 mistakes. "Woah" isn't one. That's how I spell it.

But I did not adopt this one, I am just writing a story. Idk why I picked this one, but it's a passing story. You may not use this story to adopt this dragon.

    Alpha Adoption

    Pattern: 1

    Pack: 1

    Number: 4 *Alpha*

    Name: Tigra

    Gender: Female

Personality: She is very aggressive to anyone she sees as a threat. Tigra is protective of her pack and will do anything to see they are well looked after.
Backstory (At least three good paragraphs):

I flew alongside Spy and Strawberry on Absol's back. (My Aquaborealis) We had been flying for a while and I was starting to get a little sore. Just as I was about to ask how much further, the island came into view. Circling it once, we landed on the beach and I gratefully slid off Absol's back.

I'm hungry. You should catch me some fish. Absol nudged me with his tail.

"You're an aquatic dragon! Can't you get it yourself?" I glanced up at Absol and he rolled his eyes before diving into the water. A few minutes later he made a large splash and sent several dead eels flying towards me as his form of protest. "AAH!" The eels dropped onto the sand and I quickly jumped back. "Haha very funny..." I kicked the eels away towards the forest then got the feeling we were being watched.

No sooner had I thought that, a Frilled Acidspitter ran out from the trees and growled at me. Looking behind her, I saw the faint outline of a cave with what looked like other Acidspitters inside. She scooped up the eels and swallowed them all quickly before turning her attention back to me. Just as she was about to snap at me, Absol grabbed me by the shirt in his mouth and flew over the aggressive female, landing behind her.

Realizing we could possibly tame her, I patted Absol's nose. "Put me down. We need to see if she can come back to Berk with us."

I'll convince her myself. Absol set me down then turned to the Frilled Acidspitter then seemed to have a conversation with her through growls. Shortly after, they circled each other and bared their teeth. Absol made the first move and flew at her, snapping at her side. The female rolled away then spread her frill and hissed, getting on her back legs to appear larger. Absol was unimpressed and roared then swung his tail at her, hitting her side and causing her to crash into a tree. The female fell to the ground and I saw her leg was badly injured. Quickly jumping in front of Absol, I urged him to stop and turned my attention towards the female. By then, the other members of the female's pack had gathered around and were eager to help their Alpha. I realized Absol and I needed a way to show we were there to help or else the pack would attack and definately overwhelm us. Seeing a few herbs nearby, I snatched them up and crushed them to make a paste. Turning back to the female, I met her gaze and spoke slowly. "I'm here to help. This paste can help with the pain in your leg but I need you to not attack me...after I'm done, you can attack if you want if you're not satisfied..."

After a few moments, the female seemed to nod and grunted to her pack, making them all step back a little. I knelt down in front of her and gently spread the paste on her leg and wrapped a few large leaves around it. As soon as I was done, I stepped back and looked at her. "All done..."

Absol had another conversation with the female then turned to me. She says thank you for helping her and wants you to know her name is Tigra. Tigra said something else to Absol and he continued. She also said that she owes you a favor for what you did so she would like to accompany you for the time being...if she likes what she sees at Berk then she will consider moving her pack to the area as well.

My eyes lit up as I turned back to Tigra. "Thank you. I promise you won't be disappointed. Let's get back to Berk." With the help of Absol, we managed to get Tigra onto his back and we began making our way home.

Tigra spent the next few weeks with us and observed everything closely as her leg healed. At first, she was aggressive to most of the dragons and wanted to attack everything that crossed her path but only stopped when she remembered her favor to me. She eventually mellowed out a little but still eyed the dragons warily. At the end of the third week, Tigra spoke to Absol and he looked at me.

Tigra has enjoyed her stay and wishes to bring her pack. She also said that she has become very fond of you and would like to stay in the village...but she is still able to keep an eye on her pack too.

I nodded and looked at Tigra. "Of course that's alright. I am glad we were able to help your leg and managed to form a new friendship."

    Eh...

It's pretty good, but just a whack from an Aquaborealis' tail and a hit from a tree wouldn't do enough to a Frilled Acidspitter for it to give up. It might limp a bit, but wouldn't give up that easily. Especially an alpha with a pack that depends on it.

    Sorry, rejected.

Just fix that part, otherwise your story was great!

    Backstory Edit

    ((I bolded the new part))

The female fell to the ground and I saw her leg was injured but she didn't miss a beat. Hissing loudly, she got back up and went to plan B since Absol wasn't phased by her threatening displays. Scraping her feet in the dirt, she charged at Absol and leapt onto his back, snapping at his neck. Absol roared and rolled over quickly, trapping the female beneath his body. He quickly righted himself and kept her pinned. Just as he was about to strike, I jumped on Absol's back and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"Absol, stop! If you attack now then we'll be overwhelmed!" Absol kept her down but glanced around and notices the other members of the female's pack had gathered around and were eager to help their Alpha. I realized Absol and I needed a way to show we were there to help or else the pack would attack and definately overwhelm us. I gave Absol a warning look then slid off his back, rushing to the lake. After several minutes and much difficulty, I caught another eel.  Seeing a few herbs nearby, I snatched them up too and crushed them to make a paste. Turning back to the female, I met her gaze and spoke slowly. "I'm here to help. This paste can help with the pain in your leg but I need you to not attack me...after I'm done, you can attack if you want if you're not satisfied...the eel is also a peace offering..."

After a few moments, the female seemed to nod and grunted to her pack, making them all step back a little. I knelt down in front of her and gently spread the paste on her leg and wrapped a few large leaves around it then set the eel in front of her. As soon as I was done, I stepped back and looked at her. "All done..."

She gulped down the eel and Absol had another conversation with her then turned to me.

Hey Spy :-) BTW I liked your story.

    Pattern: 1

    Pack: 2

    Number: 4

    Name: Zendaya

    Gender: Female

Personality: Zendaya is curious about new things but will not leave the safety of her pack. She is dignified and regal. She's very, very protective of her pack and would even hidefor them. Also she's a bit sassy.

    Backstory:

"So you're telling me you found a new type of dragon called the Frilled Acidspitters on an foresty island? Could you, if you don't mind and if it's not to much trouble, show me where they are?"I asked Spy, in awe and amazement. I hurried around to grab a few of my things, mainly salmon, eels, and angler fish and a shield. Then I took out a whistle from my pocket, which called my most trusted dragon friend, Sparky. Sparky, my monstrous nightmare, was there in an instant. I climbed on Sparky's back and met Spy and her Aquaborealis, Strawberry, at the beach.

She was already there waiting for me. "Alright I think I'm ready. I hope I didn't keep you waiting," I said, trying to contain my excitement. Strawberry and Sparky leapt into the air and spread their wings in unison. While following Spy, Sparky flew lower to the ocean and snatched a perch. She gobbled it up happily and looked backed at me with a huge, toothy, mischievous smile. Knowing Sparky only does that when she's hungry, I grabbed a salmon from my bag and threw it to her. She snatched it out of the air and growled contently.

Before I knew it Spy and I were there. The little island had a forest covering most of it. Spy and Strawberry lead the way to were she saw them last. But alas the Frilled Acidspitters were not there. So Sparky and I searched around for any clues of where they went. To the north we saw about six pairs of foot prints heading towards what looked like a cave up ahead. I had Sparky stay behind, not wanted to look like a threat. Bringing my shield with me to protect myself from the dragons' acid I continued following the tracks.

When I got closer I saw six Frilled Acidspitters in their "lair". Unfortunately I only had three eels in my bag. One of the dragons , it seemed, was watching for danger. The alpha who was keeping watch was blue with purple and cyan frills.  When it saw me she flared her frills and hissed, waking up the other Frilled Acidspitters in the process. Then they got on their back legs to look bigger than they really are.

Quickly I grabbed the three eels from my bag and threw one of them towards the Frilled Acidspitter I was after. That one came a little closer smelling the eel that was still in my hand. I dropped the eel on the ground and she, the alpha who woke the rest up, walked out and grabbed it. She gobbled it whole and looked at me, expecting more. After giving her the last eel I stammered, "I-I-I don't have anymore. Err I mean I don't have anymore. I could get you some but only if you come back to Berk with me."

Secretly, I was hoping I wouldn't have to fight her. But it seemed that would be the only way. So I looked at her with a threatening glare, not directly in the eye though. Knowing most dragons attack when someone glares at them threateningly. She flared her frills and I held my shield tighter. Then she got one her hind legs making her look bigger, must bigger than me. Still I didn't back down. Next she swished her tail at me, trying to trip me. It didn't work I jumped before she tripped me. I knew what would come next- acid and venom spit. So I held my shield higher, covering most of my face and upper body. But no acid or venom came. Odd... I thought. I lowered my shield, just a bit, but then came the fangs and the biting. I backed up a bit. Yikes, I just made a huge mistake... I thought. Thinking, the fight was hers, she stepped closer towards me. Now was my chance I stepped towards her and held out my hand. I hoped she would put her nose in my hand but instead she grabbed my leg. I'm done for! I'm never going to win this. I thought.

Some how Sparky knew I was in trouble and came to my rescue. Sadly, I knew that meant I wouldn't win this important battle. "I'll be back! Mark my words," I stated. I came back every day at the same spot for a week. The same thing happened every time, I lost the duel. Then on the seven day I won it out of sheer luck. She had used the same moves in different order but on the seventh time I kind of sensed that she was going to try to trip me most of the time. Knowing this I went around in a circle to confuse her. It worked she got so dizzy that she unable to attack. I quickly jumped onto her back and held on tight. Realizing I had won she let me stay on her back for a little while. When I finally got off I held out my hand and finally, that magic, most wanted moment came, she put her nuzzle in my hand.

Now I had to come up with a name. I thought and thought for a while. A name an alpha needed. Finally I came up with the name Zendaya which means to give thanks . And yes, yes I did give thanks for finally winning! Then Zendaya, Sparky and I went back to Berk. I sighed, "I finally did it."

((Hopefully the bonding wasn't too sudden.))

    (Top two by me)

    (By WolfLight)

    Main Dragon: Sparky

Personality: Fierce, protector of all my dragons, the alpha/leader of all of them (no matter how much Queen dislikes it), a little hot headed, stubborn at times, sarcastic, silly at times, and most importantly: very loyal

Back Story: When I first came to the school, I was allowed to choose one dragon just like everyone else. But I felt like something, a dragon, was calling me. I wondered around the hatchery for a while searching for the perfect dragon companion. Then my eyes  laid on the monstrous nightmare eggs. At the very bottom of the bin was an odd color for a monstrous nightmare egg, it was pink. Of course I picked up that one 'cause it's my favorite color. The next thing I know is that I feel my arms tingling, like this was that moment you know when something is right. This is what was calling me. I hatched the egg and a cute, pink, little monstrous nightmare hatched. I named her Sparky because of she seemed to have a fiery personality. I knew right then that Sparky was the perfect dragon for me! The two of us, after long days of training, enjoy exploring, racing, and fishing together.

Every time we explore we almost always find a new dragon which I train with the help of Sparky. Out of the fifty times we have explored we have found forty five dragons. She mainly likes to explore to find more dragon friends. I just explore for the fun of it. I'm starting to run out of room in my stables. Guess I'll have to build more!

When we race sometimes she runs into the walls. Then blames me for making her run into the walls and smacks me with her horns. She then runs into the wall so I hit the wall as payback! I've tried to help her with the turns but she just ignores my "training" and reverts back to her old ways. (Sparky just read this and smacked me in the head with her wing.) Fine, fine Sparky doesn't run into the walls I do (If that makes any sense). I don't she does. She can't read it this small. Haha. -Yes I can, Cooler! Grrr, you better run when I find you!- Oh sure of course I will... y-YIKES H-HELP!!

And Sparky trying to fish haha... it's hilarious! She shoves her head into the water and tries to bite at the fish when they are to far away and then she blows bubbles angrily when she doesn't catch them. Not only does she do that, but when she gets really annoyed she flies into the sky and dives down into the water. Then she freaks out when fish swim under her belly. She takes off saying, "Nope, nope, nope. I'm done with fishing! I'm out, peace!" Then she flies off and leaves me behind. She usually comes back but only after she raided my fish stockpile. -Ah, yes I do do that. Fish may be tasty but they're slimy!-

Extra: I adopted her on June 15, 2014. She and I have been together for more than three years now. She's my first and most favorite dragon, just don't tell the other dragons about that. Sparky loves to eat salmon, it's her favorite, and occasionally a perch. Sparky loves Snoggletog so much that she wears antlers and jingle bells all year long!

    Night Fury OC: Plasma

Personality: Independent, free willed, exclusive most of the time, almost too trusting, laid back, and very stubborn (even more stubborn than Sparky and trust me, Sparky is VERY stubborn)

Back Story: One sunny day not-so-long-ago, I was walking through a forest, feeling the breeze in my hair and having fun on my Alone Time. I like to have an "Alone Time" at least once a week, for about an hour, so I don't go insane (Some would say I am but I beg to differ) and today was one of them. I was alone or so I thought. The whole time I felt the hair on the back of my neck standing straight up as if someone was watching or even following me. But there was no one with me at that time. I would turn around frequently, checking to see if anyone was following me or to see their eyes in the darkest corners of the forest.

At one time I thought I heard a whoosh sound from a tree's leaves. Then I thought of something: What if it's not a person but a dragon?! Slowly I sat down and pretended to rest. Slowly but surely, something can up behind me and nudged me on the shoulder. By now I am already used to things nudging me so I turned around and saw a night fury behind me. She was missing her left tail fin. It was as if she had gotten in a fight with another dragon because her tail fin was all slashed and she had bloodied slashes on her (all are healed now and you can't even see scars). But she was not like a normal night fury, she had blue on the back of her wings, two front legs, ears, and back of her body. I knew she was hungry why else would she be following me. I gave her a fish I had brought with me and she looked at me with her big eyes. She beckoned me to get on her back and was very trusting, almost too trusting, and laid back when I finally did. But we couldn't fly yet not matter how much she wanted too.

I knew I to get a tail fin for her so I decided to make one. I based it on Toothless' but with one change I made it so she could fly where ever she wanted without a person on her back. I didn't want her to be dependent on a person. Unfortunately the only fabric I had at that time was pink so that was what I made it out of. (Which is why one of her tail fins is pink.) I put it on her, with a descent amount of struggle, and when I did it fit like a charm. She immediately wanted to fly and so she did. Soon I was joined by Sparky, whom I mounted to get ready to fly, and the rest of my dragons who wanted to fly along side Plasma. They seemed to have already know her cause she didn't mind when they flew beside her. Apparently they had they were secretly protecting her from dangers and watching her to make sure she was alright.

I never did find out which dragon she fought and lost to. I just assume that it was against a monstrous nightmare or skrill. I do have a saddle for her if she wanted me to fly with her. Plasma is independent most of the time and prefers to fly by herself. But on occasion she lets me ride her and when she does she chooses where we go. Which is fine by me. I may be her trainer but I know she's independent and doesn't need no human. Plasma usually stays with my other dragons but other times she goes off and leaves to go on her own adventures. Where? Well I don't know but she always comes back within a week or two.

They would likely go into a barrel-roll if you lept onto their back randomly, but other than that, your story was great!

Adopted! Take great care of Zendaya, she can be a fighter!

    I hope it's alright :D

    Hey, Spy :)

I've been watching this thread, but I've been reluctant to try and adopt one because I'm usually not good at writing backstories. But they're awesome dragons, and the one I wanted hasn't been adopted out yet (as far as I know), so...

May I please adopt the first one?

    Pattern: 1

    Pack: 1

    Number: 1

    Name: Flarefang

    Gender: Male

Personality: He is loyal and protective of those he considers to be his “pack”, and won’t let anything hurt them. Despite this, he does have a bit of a mean streak and often picks on smaller dragons. Even those close to him can fall victim to cocky shows of power, or petty acts of revenge if they do something to make him angry.

Backstory: (...*Nervous cough*...) Sorry it's a bit long. I kind of got carried away and wrote more than I intended. Which doesn't happen often, so I just went with it :P

“What in Thor’s name is that?” I asked, looking in bewilderment at the frilled dragon. I’d never seen anything like it before.

“It’s a Frilled Acidspitter.” Spy explained, “I found a heap of them on an island. They’re the new species I was telling you about”.

“Oh”. That would explain why I’d never seen one before. “It’s so awesome…I’d love to try and tame one”

“If you like them that much, I can show you the way to the island.” Spy offered.

“Really? That would be great! Thank you”.

Soon, me and Mirage were on our way to the Acidspitter’s island, with Spy and Strawberry leading the way. When we landed on the warm island, Spy stayed behind with her Aquaborealis while me an Mirage ventured into the island to find our new dragon. It didn’t take us long to find a pack of them, gathered in a large clearing in the forest. I had dealt with pack dragons before, when I tamed Mirage, but I was still intimidated by the thought of facing a large group like this. I reached out for the support of my dragon, and was relieved to find that the dark red Changewing was still by my side.

I crept closer for a better look, and scanned the pack of fire-coloured dragons until one particular Acidspitter caught my eye. It was yellow, with beautiful orange and red markings. It was sitting some distance away from the others. Maybe I’d be able to separate it, so I wouldn’t be up against the entire pack. I kept my distance as I carefully circled around, trying not to be discovered.  As I approached where the dragon was sitting, it unexpectedly whipped its head around to face in my direction. Immediately, it began to flare its frills and hiss, its tail flicking angrily. I froze. It knew I was there, even though I still remained hidden by the trees. I guess it was now or never. Slowly, I pulled out an eel from the bag Spy gave me, ignoring the disapproving growls from Mirage, and tossed it in the direction of the Acidspitter. Catching the scent of the eel, the dragon looked back towards its pack before curiously stalking forwards towards it.

That’s when it saw me, attempting to hide in the shadow of a tree. It took a step back from the eel and flared its frills further, hissing more threateningly than before now that it knew what it was dealing with. I took a deep breath and motioned for Mirage to keep back so that the Acidspitter didn’t feel as threatened.  He did as I asked, but I could tell he was watching closely, ready to fight acid with acid if it came to that. I stepped towards the Acidspitter, holding out another eel towards it. But I had to back away again, as I was met with more furious hissing and the dragon raised itself onto its back legs, looking terrifying at its full height. But I was determined to tame the creature. Looking back, it probably wasn’t the wisest move. But despite my fear, I stepped forwards again, hand outstretched towards it, looking towards the ground, remembering what Hiccup had told us about how he trained Toothless…

The next thing I saw was the dragon’s mighty tail sweeping across the ground, knocking me off my feet. I barely managed to dodge the acid spray that followed, but I rolled aside and jumped to my feet. Mirage leapt forwards growling, but I once again motioned for him to stay back. He was just causing the Acidspitter to react more wildly. Reluctantly, the Changewing withdrew to the shade of the tree again, still softly growling. I looked back to the Acidspitter. It was still hissing and flaring its frills, but didn’t attack again. It glared at me but kept its distance, watching to see if I’d try to approach it for a third time. I didn’t. This wasn’t going how I planned. Realising this, the dragon tilted its head to the side…and smirked at me. Mocking me. Leaving the eels lying in the dust, he turned and glided back to where his pack was. I was more determined than ever that this dragon would be mine. But it was getting late and we needed to return home for the day.

We went back a few days later, but this time I told Mirage to stay with Spy and Strawberry. He was going to make things a lot harder otherwise. I went on alone, with a new plan. It took me a lot longer to find the same pack again, as they were not in the same clearing they were in before. But I found them, and “my” Acidspitter was once again sitting away from the others. He immediately growled when he saw me, clearly remembering me from our last encounter. I once again tried the eel approach, but, as I expected, it was met with only a menacing hiss and more frill-flaring. I placed the eel down and began my new plan. The dragon once again raised to its back legs as I withdrew my axe, still hissing at me. I was less afraid this time; I had become quite adept at deflecting acid sprays with my axe, because I was used to dealing with Changewings. I leapt towards the dragon, waving my axe threateningly. This time I was hoping to earn its respect, show I was stronger. It let out an angry growl, quickly losing its patience with me. It attempted to slash at my axe with its claws, but I was quick and dodged. I don’t know how long the encounter lasted, but it felt like forever. I dodged sprays of acid and slashes of claws. I even had to de-tangle myself from its tail more than once. I continued swinging my axe at it, hoping to wear it down, but I was very careful not to actually hit it. I was not aiming to harm it.

But then, I was hit with a blow I was too slow to dodge. I stumbled, and temporarily lost control of my blade. I watched in horror as a deep cut opened on the Acidspitter’s left foreleg. It roared in pain, and I stepped back, guilt overwhelming me at what I’d just done. I wasn’t trying to hurt it. I’d never do that. It stalked towards me, limping slightly but still determined, still hissing wildly. But I just backed away. I didn’t want to accidentally hurt it again. Trying to train it like this was a bad idea.

I looked at the dragon. “I’m sorry.” I said, tears forming in my eyes. I dropped my axe to the ground, backing away from it. “I-I’m sorry…”

The dragon stopped, taken aback by this. It looked in confusion to my weapon, laying abandoned on the forest floor, then to me, who was now refusing to approach it again. Slowly, it began to relax a little, as it seemed to understand what was going on. I jumped as it began to approach again, until I realised its frill was down this time. I reached out to it, as if in apology for what I’d done…and as the dragon gently pressed his muzzle to my hand, I knew I was forgiven.

If there's anything wrong, let me know and I'll fix it :D

    Few Errors, Almost There Though!

Pretty good, very few grammatical errors (Which I understand, I typically reread almost everything I type more than once xD).

The only part(s) that are off is that their acid is strong enough to melt that axe, unless it was made of something like Diamond. No that is not a MineCraft reference, but my own knowledge. Plus the acid is a last-resort thing.

If you fix those parts, I'd be happy to adopt Flarefang to you!

For the time being, I'll reserve that one to you while you fix the story :)

I'll try to fix the errors, I didn't realise thier acid was so strong! Thanks for reserving him while I fix it, and for giving me another chance at it :D

Np for reserving it, and Ty!

I wasn't sure how popular they'd be when I started making them Cx

    :D

Alright, I've got the new version. I've fixed the gramatical errors (that I am aware of), and added/slightly changed a few parts. The new parts are in bold.

    Backstory:

“What in Thor’s name is that?” I asked, looking in bewilderment at the frilled dragon. I’d never seen anything like it before.

“It’s a Frilled Acidspitter.” Spy explained, “I found a heap of them on an island. They’re the new species I was telling you about”.

“Oh”. That would explain why I’d never seen one before. “It’s so awesome…I’d love to try and tame one”

“If you like them that much, I can show you the way to the island.” Spy offered.

“Really? That would be great! Thank you”.

Soon, Mirage and I were on our way to the Acidspitters’ island, with Spy and Strawberry leading the way. When we landed on the warm island, Spy stayed behind with her Aquaborealis while I ventured into the island with Mirage to find our new dragon.

I took a deep breath and motioned for Mirage to keep back, so that the Acidspitter didn’t feel as threatened.

I barely managed to dodge the slash of its claws that followed, but I rolled aside and jumped to my feet. I realised that I had pushed my luck by approaching it directly like that. It had no reason to trust me.

I once again tried the eel approach but, as I expected, it was met with only a menacing hiss and more frill-flaring. I placed the eel down and began my new plan. The dragon once again rose to its hind legs as I withdrew my axe, still hissing at me. I was less afraid this time; I had become quite adept at deflecting acid sprays with my axe, because I was used to dealing with Changewings. I leapt towards the dragon, waving my axe threateningly. This time I was hoping to earn its respect, and show I was stronger. It let out an angry growl, quickly losing its patience with me. It attempted to strike at my axe with its claws, but I was quick and dodged. I don’t know how long the encounter lasted, but it felt like forever. I dodged furious slashes of the dragon’s claws, evaded sharp teeth that I knew contained powerful venom. I even had to de-tangle myself from its tail more than once. I continued swinging my axe at it, hoping to wear it down, but I was very careful not to actually hit it. I was not aiming to harm it.

After some time, the Acidspitter drew back slightly and swished its tail angrily preparing to spray its acid. I stepped forwards confidently, axe ready to deflect it as I had done so many times with Mirage. But something seemed different with this dragon. Suddenly unsure, I jumped out of the way at the last moment. But my axe caught part of the acid spray and was knocked from my hand, melting as the acid broke the gronckle iron blade down into nothing. This dragon’s acid was much more powerful than a Changewing's, the fact glaringly obvious as what used to be my weapon gathered in a pool at my feet.

I considered running away at that moment, not wanting to meet the same fate as my axe. But I’d come too far by that point. Praying it didn’t fire its acid again, I took out a dagger from my belt and continued. More cautiously this time, as the dagger was now my only weapon.

I dropped my dagger to the ground, backing away from it. “I-I’m sorry…”

The dragon stopped, taken aback by this. It looked in confusion to my weapon, lying abandoned on the forest floor, and then to me, who was now refusing to approach it again.

Again if there's anything that needs to be changed, let me know :P

(I'll probably open the thread for the full body afterschool, I had to get to sleep early since we have testing today, and I have some homework to finish ^^;)

Be careful of how wary Flarefang may be around you still!
