I Think You Should Watch Centaurworld (pretty please?)

Okay, I rarely go out of my way to recommend media to people but I have to have to must make an exception this time.

  • You like Adventure Time?
  • or perhaps a grabity falls?
  • just a good light fantasy in general?
  • themes of love and grief and learning to heal?
  • cool emotive songs?
  • gracefully handled darker subjects?

then please watch Centaurworld. It has your usual hallmarks of a wacky kids animated show, like fart jokes and thinly veiled adult humour and a jarringly creepy and dark Big Bad, but it goes a step further by treating itself and all of its characters with such immense kindness. Not in a nothing-interesting-or-dramatic-happens-to-them way but in a they-are-all-respected-by-each-other-and-the-writers kind of way.

You know how pretty much all character archetypes come with certain annoying or bad qualities that kind of drags the whole thing down? Not in this one! The very autistic one is not mocked or treated like a child the entire time. The group diva doesn't think himself above everyone else. Even the bully who's main trait is 'is mean to main character for no apparent reason' has moments of kindness and also isn't hamfisted into a 180 backpeddle 'fixed' personality.

Also in episode 2 there is a Taurnado that's objectively the coolest thing I've ever seen and has an amazing song so if nothing else just watch/listen to this bit.

And it's finale is incredibly gratifying, if you're worried about a hollow conclusion or a bit of a letdown. Avoiding spoilers as much as I can, let's just say that it features the best love tragedy since Romeo and Juliette, and leaves itself a complete and finished story (cause, y'know. netflix's infamous practices).

Bugs and glitches that have happened to me so far in-game:

 

i get daily pink blobs in some maps,  also daily my dragons dissapear, (did i spell it right?) and you can't mount them,  also once when i was doing a quest to age up my teen Whispering Death, Sparksaw, i had her mounted and my finger pressed the "show avatar" button, but my viking didn't dissapear, my dragon did!  then i was sitting on nothing and i spun and couldn't control it!  the joystick wasn't working, so i had to reload the game, but when i got back the quest restarted.
