This week was a lot better at writing up a chapter.  Had so many ideas, thanks to dragonsaremyfriends, it was almost difficult to write it all down all at once.  But I did it.  The plot for me is a lot clearer now and things are starting to take shape with the story.

Hope you guys enjoy the chapter.  Please comment what you think about what the title has to do with chapter.

         Fredrick and I flew

Fredrick and I flew back to the ship which we met Heather on.  Realizing that we are only a short flight from Dragon’s Edge, I decided to stay on the ship until the other girls came back.  Since Heather was just on this ship, maybe she left a clue; seems like she always has something up her sleeve.  If she was searching the ship for something but did not find it, maybe I could find it instead.

About a half hour later, Fredrick and I arrived.  I spent the next couple of hours searching the ship.  Top deck, nothing.  Lower deck, nothing.  Stronghold, nothing.  Captain’s quarters, nothing.  Anything of value had already been stripped off the ship.  All that is left is many empty and smashed crates.  Looks like this ship was either a cargo ship or a trading ship.  Asking Fredrick, he snorted on the former.

Starting to get a bit frustrated with not finding anything, while in the captain’s quarters I kicked my right foot from behind the desk squarely against it.

“Ooo, why’d I do that?!” I exclaimed as I hopped on my left foot, grabbing with both hands my right.  “I heard that.”  Fredrick had laughed as soon as he heard me yell out.

Once I had hopped the third time, I felt my foot step on something papery other than the wood planks of the floor, “Oh, what’s this?”

Quickly forgetting about the pain, I picked scroll.

Opening it up, my eyes lit up, “What do we have here?”

Fredrick gave a short roar.  This usually is his way of greeting friends.

I thought as I walked back to the stairs to go to the top deck, all the while really just looking at the scroll, “The girls must be back.”

“Hey Jarl,” announced Cazi.  “Look out for that crate in front of you.”

“Like I’m going to fall for tha-.  Ow!” Now I stubbed my left foot into a crate.  This time not as hard, but enough to catch me off guard.

“I tried to tell you,” Cazi said putting her hands on her hips.

“Man,” added Meen.  “He must really have found something for him not to watch where he is going.”

         Angie asked, “What is it?”

         “A clue,” I smiled.

“No duh,” Cazi quipped.  “Of course, it is a clue.  What else would it be?  A paper with the news on it?  That’ll be the day.”

         “Sorry,” I chuckled.  “It’s a map.”

         “A map?” Cazi echoed.

         Meen excitedly asked, “Treasure map?”

“Depends on what you are looking for and consider a treasure,” I answered.

Taking the crate, I had just stubbed my left foot on, I set it on its side and laid the scroll down to see.

Cazi was the first to say after a few minutes of looking at it, “Doesn’t look like much of a map to me.  Doesn’t have any distinguishing land masses on it.”

“I think that’s the point,” replied Meen.  “See all the arrows, it looks like there are steps to be followed that will lead to a treasure of sorts.”

“Yeah,” Angie agreed.  “Each step looks to describe a landmark or island of certain sizes.”

I grinned, “You guys are learning.  I don’t have to do everything anymore.”

“Maybe you should… or else I wouldn’t have to tell you that you were about ready to bang your foot against a crate,” retorted Cazi.

“Ha,” I laughed.  “True dat, true dat.”

A moment had passed before Cazi asked, “Don’t mean to ask about the yak in the room, but where is Annabeth?”

“One, this technically isn’t a room,” I said.  “Two, she’s gone.”

All the girls said in unison, “She’s gone?!”

Cazi followed up with, “Where’d she go?  Don’t tell me I have to tell you to keep track of her now?”

“No, you don’t and calm down, I’ll explain,” I responded.  “Heather led us to something that could possibly be a lead in our case, but the connection remains to be seen.  Annabeth really wanted to chase this lead.  Much to my disagreement, I did have to admit Annabeth was more equipped than yours truly to follow the clues from the lead to find the conclusion and or the connection to our case.  The best move was to split up because I have my own clues and leads to follow.  Now we have yet another mystery in this map, yet I would bet my best yak there is a connection to The Secret Symbols of our Dragon Eye lenses and this treasure map.  The most blatant being I see very similar symbols on this map as I studied on those lenses.  I hope and also bet my best boar that Hiccup’s report on the new Dragon Eye lens will show us our best place to start in search of what The Secret Symbols are trying to tell us.”

“Alright,” Cazi said a bit uneasy.  “But you better be right about this.  I don’t like her suddenly going away without a good enough reason.”

“I don’t like it either,” I agreed.  “But she seemed pretty determined to go.  By the way, was Hiccup and the gang there on The Edge?”

“No, actually they weren’t,” responded Meen.  “No one was there.”

         “Huh,” I declared.

Angie said, “We left a note in Hiccup’s hut about making a report on the lenses and that we would be back for either an update or full report in a few days.”

“Sounds good,” I finished and packed the scroll away in my left saddlebag.

With that, there was not anything keeping us there, so we left and returned to out Edge of Mystery.

The sun is now just a few hours from setting, but the skies told otherwise.  The clouds are beginning to darken and I told the crew a storm is coming.  I forecast it mainly to be rain, but also, I expect there to be some lightning.  Still, we are a few hours from the storm, but it is for sure coming.

When we landed, the stillness of the air matched the stillness of Mystery.

         “Where is everybody?” questioned Cazi.

Angie pointed out, “Where are the Speed Stingers?”

Meen folded her arms, “Not much of a lookout security system, yet.”

“Maybe something came up,” I tried to stay positive.

Suddenly, we all heard something get knocked over in the Clubhouse.  Even though we are on the lower levels, the air is so still you could hear a pin drop in the woods.  Getting back on our dragons, we flew up to the Clubhouse.  Landing as quietly as we could, we eased our way over to the door.  We all stacked on the door to be ready for anything that may be in the building; even our dragons stood ready to pounce.

         I counted down… Three… Two… One…

“Freeze!” I shouted as I opened the door and we all rushed in, even the dragons roared.

The figure we saw had in their hands a vase.  So, when we barged in, they lost the handle of the vase, tried to catch a couple times, but finally dropped it.

Looking at the person, we see it is a girl; looks a little older than us.

“Uh,” she said pointing at the vase.  “Someone… uh… broke that.”

“Yeah, you,” Cazi declared, irritated.  “Who are you?”

Rather flippantly, she replied, “Dawn Evergreen the Treacherous,” then she continued to walk around our Clubhouse as if we did not even exist.

Cazi started to advance towards Dawn, I held out my left arm to hold her back.  Do not get me wrong, I am a bit angry and confused too, but I do not want to act in haste and regret an action.

Telling Cazi, “Well she hasn’t tried to kill us, so I think she is friendly.”

Cazi folded her arms and glared at Dawn, “That remains to be seen.”

I was thinking of saying that, but held my tongue.  Most vikings would come back at someone who said that about them.  But Dawn just ignored her.

Dawn walked back around and then right past us, pushing through, and making her own way.  Disgusted, the girls stepped back, not voluntary, as Dawn walked outside.

Cazi was about to say something, having a good guess at what she wanted to say, I put up my right hand and asked Dawn, “What brings you here?  Why have you come to our island?”

Thinking Dawn would answer my question, she in turn asked her questions about our huts, our buildings, the docks… basically questioning everything we did and complain that it was not right.

“How dare you!” demanded Cazi.  “Going through someone else’s huts and homes.  How would you like it if someone went through your home?”

Right before the girls started to question Dawn left and right, I heard Dawn reply in whisper, yet enough I could hear it, “Someone did.”

Dawn must have some thick skin as a lot of the questions, although justified because Dawn is intruding, would make most vikings fight back; Dawn just ignored all of our questions.

Before the questioning could even get started, I stopped it by asking Dawn, “Where did the rest of our friends go?”

“Oh, they went off to rescue someone ship wrecked in the middle of the ocean,” Dawn answered, finally.  “I was ship wrecked myself and swam to shore.  When your friends found me, they soon after that they flew out to find the ship wrecked person.”

All the dragons are very uneasy and questioning Dawn’s presence here, as are all the rest of us.  As I started to talk with the rest of the girls, if Dawn is telling us the truth or not, I kept a close eye on Dawn as she went near Fredrick.  The girls were asking questions to me, but I did not pay attention to them as I am trying to concentrate on looking at Dawn out of the corner of my eye.

Dawn wears a half shirt with a sleeveless shirt underneath, fir skirt, fir bracers, fir boots, basically everything fir, bones as decorations and shoulder pads… basically, she looks more like an  Outcast the way she dresses.

Dawn offered the back of her right hand to Fredrick.  Fredrick is a friendly dragon; however, he just will not let anybody pet him.  Fredrick squinted his eyes and shied away from her hand, slightly.  But after a few tries, he just let her touch him a little bit.  She then walked around in front of Fredrick to his left side.

I think the girls realized I was not paying attention to them as they talked amongst themselves.  Dawn then turned her back to Fredrick’s side and looked at Cazi’s Sparklebolt and Angie’s Nina.  One would think that meeting a Skrill, especially up close, would strike some level of fear even in the bravest of vikings; whether the dragon is trained or not would not make a difference, Skrills have that type of reputation and are not a dragon to be trifled with.

As Dawn tried to offer her right hand again but to Sparklebolt, Cazi’s dragon is having none of it and not accepting Dawn.  Fredrick was not either, he usually does nothing unless I specifically tell him to go one way or the other.  Wanting to see what Dawn would do, I let Fredrick be the judge of it.

Within the matter of a split second, Dawn reached in my saddlebag with her left hand, grabbed the scroll, and ran off down the walkway to the east.

“I knew it!” I exclaimed as I ran after Dawn.

Taken a bit by surprise the girls took a minute to realize what had just happened.  Their dragons, however, were quicker to react.  Sparklebolt, after hopping over Fredrick, instantly tried to pounce on Dawn.  But Dawn actually jumped off the edge of the walkway and down to the middle level, somersaulting through the air and rolling on the walkway below.

If she was not running away from us with the new scroll, I would be impressed.

Dawn is heading towards the forest, but I have a way of heading her off.  The walkways closest to the edge of the cliff are very close quarters, so it would be difficult to fly a dragon in here and just grab dawn.  So, I instead ran to the bridge, which goes up to the stables, and grabbed the zip line handle and jumped off myself.  Jumping off a split second after Dawn ran under the bridge, I flew down to her level, swinging my arms back and forth to jump off and tackle Dawn before she could reach the forest.

We tumbled over each other several times before coming to a stop.  The scroll started to fall off the edge, yet I rushed to the edge or the walkway on my right and reached down for the scroll in mid-air before it could go any further.  Dawn almost fell off the edge too, but was able to climb back up.

“What are trying to do?” she asked in an angry tone.  “Kill me?”

“Well, it’s your fault you ran away,” I stated.

Dawn questioned curiously, “What’s so important about this scroll anyway?”

Cazi and the rest of the girls came in as Cazi responded, “None of your business.  You’ve done enough trouble already.  Would you kindly leave our island?”

“Would love to,” Dawn replied with a fake smile.  “But like I said:  Ship wrecked, swam to shore.”

Meen replied, “There is no ship wreck that I can see.”

“That’s because it is a few miles to the west.  I swam here,” Dawn answered like it was nothing swimming a few miles.

That statement alone was enough to make Cazi and them speechless, even I am thoroughly impressed.

I then ordered, “Now you are coming back with us.”

Dawn sarcastically replied, “Darling, first you want me to leave, now you want me to stay.  Make up your mind.  What if I just run now into the forest?  What are you going to do then?  Hmm?”

“Oh,” I shrugged her statement off.  “Nothing.  But Borgar won’t let you.”

“Let me guess,” she put her hands on her hips.  “Borgar is a Speed Stinger and is standing right behind me… the oldest trick in the book, even if it is a dragon.  Do you-.”

I cut her off to act surprised at her answer, “Ooo.  She’s smarter than she looks.”

Dawn was going to say, “Do you think I am going to fall for that?”  But when I said that statement to confirm her guess, she stopped short, and slowly turned around.

         Cazi chuckled, “Perfect timing, Borgar.”

It almost looked like Dawn is afraid of Speed Stingers, but did a very good job of hiding it, except from me.

“Borgar?” I asked.  He went from growling at Dawn to perking up, smiling at me, and wagging his tale.  I gave the Speed Stinger a single and a vocal command, “Would you kindly lead our ‘guest’ back up to the Clubhouse… and keep an eye on her?”

Borgar nodded his head and lightly head butted Dawn in the back.

“Hey!” she exclaimed as she stumbled forward a few steps.

Dawn became angry and ready to defend herself.

“Ah ah ah,” I waved my right finger.  “I wouldn’t do that if I were you.  You do know what a Speed Stinger can do?  As I assume you know everything.”  I exaggerated that last word.

Dawn reluctantly backed down and let Borgar lead her back up to the Clubhouse.  Borgar did not have to push Dawn to lead her back up; Dawn complied with the situation.

By the time we got back up to the Clubhouse, several minutes later, Dawn replied with a new tone; a tone that did not sound mean at all, “Man, it got dark fast.  Is there a storm coming?”

“Yes, there is,” I answered.  “By the way the clouds formed and what type they are, we should just be in for a lot of rain with some lightning.”

All of a sudden, a stiff gust of wind blew across our island and stayed around.

“And why is the wind so cold?” added Dawn as she grabbed her arms.

“That would be the Cold Front,” I declared.  “Cold Fronts are usually followed by a storm with a lot of rain and some lightning.  Warm Fronts can be tricky as they can do the same but also could be much more dangerous.  Cold Fronts, however, nine times out of ten are followed by a rain storm.  This storm can either be a cell or in a straight-line formation.  By the looks of the clouds rolling back on themselves as the front moves in, we could be dealing with some straight-line winds that have a possibility to have some high velocity.  That’s why I am starting to wonder where are-…”

I am interrupted by the sight of the rest of our friends flying in on their dragons and Asvord saying, “Well, look what the yak dragged in.”

         “Very funny,” I answered.

Hyrith added as they landed their dragons on the platform in front of the Clubhouse, “We didn’t expect you back so soon.  Anything wrong?”

“On the trip, no,” I replied.  “Back here on Mystery, however…”  I trailed off as I stepped back to reveal Dawn.

Out of nowhere a voice yelled, “You!  It’s you!”

The voice came from a boy, looks about the same age as us maybe a year or just a few months younger, “You left me to fend for myself against that Deathsong!”

“Uh,” Dawn said.  For once, in the short time we have known her, she looked speechless and defenseless.

         I echoed, “Deathsong?”

Hattori explained, “Only Elsa came back from a patrol with Asvord, telling us there was a rider and his dragon being attacked by a Deathsong on a small island just west of here.  Knowing what Deathsongs could do, Asvord stayed behind to keep the dragon occupied until we all could get there.  You’d think with our numbers, we would just overwhelm the dragon.  But it literally took all of us to drive the Deathsong away.”

Explod added, “And the way the dragon looked, it looked like it was going to be back.”

“Then with the storm baring down on our necks,” stated Hattori.  “We did not have time to free the guy’s dragon, so we just flew them both back out of danger.  Riptide and Garth are now flying the dragon up to the Stables.”

Cazi smiled, genuinely, “Do you think we should rescue Dawn, or can we just watch?”

“What?” I asked turning around to look into the Clubhouse.

There stood the boy shooting questions at Dawn left and right.  At first, she just held up her hands.  Before long, it turned in to a massive argument that the dragons even cringed at the loudness.

Stepping into the Clubhouse and walking over to try and break it up, I could not succeed.  Fredrick, on the other hand, came over and roared louder than the two were fighting.

“Thank Fredrick,” I replied.  My dragon nodded.  “One of the perks of having a Thunderdrum.  Anyway… What is this all about?”

They both started at the same time.  I held up my right hand and said, “One at a time.  Why don’t we just start with a name?”

The boy replied, “Oh, okay, my name is Michia McClairn.”

On the Subject of Hackers

please read this link, it helps to identify the different types of hackers. I have hacked computers, and servers in the past (despite not being the best at code) but I never do it for personal gain. Unfortunately the hackers most people refer to on the internet are crackers so they bring a bad light on the hacking community in general. I only learned to hack code because I needed to in order to hack my microwave and other software in my house.

Don't be a Cracker you ruin it for everyone!

One thing to make clear: I REALLY LOVE DRAGONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My background story for my main OC

Backstory: Sonora was a very exciting girl. She was just a toddler when she learned of Dragon Fighting. She was five, and didn't understand anything. But she went along with it. Soon, a terrible storm hit, her parents were putting her and her two year old sister into the cellar to stay safe, when a huge wave of flood from the ocean threw down the door and washed away the house, as well as the crate where she, her sister Elira, and all the supplies in their (an axe, food for a week, fresh water, rope, swords, bow and arrow, other Viking stuff, spare change of clothes for everyone in the family, blankets, flint and steel, and a yak hair tent) were washed away to sea. Her parents most likely drowned, and although they couldn't swim, Sonora turned out to be a natural. Soon lulled to sleep by the waves, she curled her sister toward herself and slept. In the morning, as the sun shined into the crate, Sablie saw a remote island not far away. She jumped out of the box, this being a mistake for she didn't expect the ocean water, grabbed the side of the box, and kicked her legs with all her might, holding on for dear life. She paddled in the direction of the island, and got to the shore. Slowly placing the tent far up the shore like her parents taught her, she made quite a cozy home. Starting a fire with flint and steel and driftwood, she took some meat she found in the crate, and cooked it, and mashed up part of it for Elira, who was now crying. Cradling her and feeding her the meat, Elira slowly went to sleep. What she didn't realize is that the crying had attracted a dragon. When she heard a roar, she ran outside with a lightweight sword to defend herself and sister. When she got outside, she saw a rare Sand Wraith. It stood outside, cocking its head at the tent. Sablie dropped her sword as she was shaking terribly. The dragon looked at her, and nuzzled his nose to her. Looking the dragon in full eyes, she didn't see evilness. She just saw warmness. Reaching out her hand, the dragon touched it with his nose. Hugging the dragon and crying, she fell asleep under his wing. She woke up around noon, and found no sign of the dragon. Thinking it was a dream, she gathered the rest of the supplies and took them into the tent when she heard the beating of wings behind her. It wasn't a dream after all! The dragon slowly dropped what he had in his claws, which were fish! Food! Sonora smiled and hugged the dragon. The dragon bent down and extended his wing for her. Un surely, she climbed onto his back, and he took OF on a calm flight around the island. She returned to find her sister crying again, and shushed her gently. After cooking the fish, she mashed more for her sister and gave the dragon his share too. That night the dragon didn't leave the tent, and slept next to it, keeping it warm. After a few days, they moved to a clearing near a spring, with lots of saplings. Using the axe, Sablie cut a big wood pile by the house. Every day at the rise of the moon she went flying with the Sand Wraith, and that is why she named him Moonrise.
When she was seven and her sister was four, she was scouting in the wilderness for any deer she could hunt, when she stumbled against a d.ead Razorwhip and four eggs. She kneeled down and felt each of the eggs, and she couldnt feel a heart beat in the first three. In the fourth one though, she could feel a faint heart beat. She took all four eggs home anyway, and when she came to the tent where Elira was rolling in the sand with Moonrise and cooking lunch, she felt an egg shake. Calling her sister over, she set the egg down in front of her sister, and the egg completely split apart. A baby Razorwhip fell out, and Elira immediately fell in love with her. Naming the baby Razwhipway, the two haven't been seperated since. The rest of the eggs never hatched, though Sablie didn't give it up until a week later, when she broke them in half to use as bowls.     (I included this part of the story because it means a lot to me, and helps understand the ending better)
Sonora was ten and Elira was seven, when a bad storm hit. The next morning, Sonora steeped out of the wooden shack she built to find her beach much destroyed. Calling her sister and Razwhipway (who was now a broad wing) to help clean up when she saw a peculiar sight. A shiny pink body was laying on the beach. It was a Tide Glider. She was a beauty. Calling Moonrise to help her, she pulled the Tide Glider into the yard (which was pretty much beach). When the poor dragon woke up, she looked around, then finally, deciding we weren't a threat, spit at herself. Everyone started in shock at the dragon. She whipped around and looked at us. Her wounds were gone, and we couldn't stop staring (even Moonrise and Razwhipway). Sonora slowly approached her with a sea bass. Not taking her eyes of Sablie, the dragon ate, and accepted a green plant dragons seem to like. After that, she stared at Sablie, and slowly reached out to touch her hand. Sundance was named for the way she danced in the sun, in the mornings. There were now three dragons living with them.
It had been a year since peace was brought to Berk from the dragons, although Sonora didn't know it. She was fourteen years old, and now even Razwhipway could fly. They used hand made saddles from deer skin and boar tusks with wild dyes. Sablie was flying Moonrise around the islands, when she noticed a black dragon that she had never seen before. She of course, knew most of the dragons on her island, and this was one she had never seen. Munching on an apple, she decided to make friends and find out the full look. This dragon was faster than Moonrise, which was a surprise since he was the only Sand Wraith and fastest dragon on the island. She landed where she saw the black dragon land, but was shocked! There was a rider standing next to the dragon saying "This is a new island bud. Do you sense any trouble?" The black dragon snorted, and turned in her direction, where she was concealed behind the trees. The Dragon walked over to the trees now, and pushed Sablie over so she fell in the riders view. He looked as shocked as her. He looked at her and said "Hello, we are friends and don't want to hurt you,". Sablie was scared as she was the time she saw Moonrise for the first time. "Who are you," she managed to say "What do you want from my island," The stranger looked at her and said " My name is Hiccup, and we are not going to take anything from this island. We will help you if you want us to",. Feeling she could trust him, she told him her story, and about Moonrise, who was happily playing with the Black dragon, who looked surprisingly like Moonrise. Afterward she brought him to the shack, where he met Elira, Razwhipway and Sundance, and he told them about Berk. "I think we used to live on Berk, at least that is what mommy said," said Sablie, "But how? I thought Berk fought dragons,". So Hiccup told her about the peace, and Toothless. Finding that they did want to go back to Berk, Hiccup stayed the night, then helped them to Berk, and helping them build a good big Viking hut with stables and get fresher weapons. They had lived peacefully at Berk ever since.
