Although not one of the fastest or largest dragons in the
Archipelago, the Snifflehunch is a cretaure as unique as its
namesake. These dragons make for charming sentinels for
islanders that want to be unknown to the outside world, since
they are one of the best Trackers in the dragon world. Although
they are fairly rare, and nearly impossible to comeby, training
your very own Snifflehunch has already become a challenge.
My name is Jyharri and I will explain the basis of dragon
training, the Snifflehunch.
A true puppy to its breed, the Snifflehunch acts more like a dog
than even the infamous Gronckle does. This makes them
relatively easy to approach due to their calm nature - and the
fact that they have rarely seen humans before, so making a
good first impression is all apart of the taming. Although not
yet discovered in School of Dragons, this is a guide based off of
only one Snifflehunch that I've encountered in my adult years,
Gultlaff.
Disclaimer: A majority, but not all information on the Snifflehunch can
be summed up from my experience with Snifflehunches (raising them,
training, etc), so take these words with a grain of salt.
Step 1: Location
Like I have mentioned previously, the Snifflehunch is a very
rare species of dragon that was previously inhabiting the
ancient north of Valka's former sanctuary. Although I won't
reveal the location on where I tamed Gultlaff, searching in
areas between the Unnamed Islands will be a good place to
start.
Step 2: Introducing Yourself
When you finally find a wild Snifflehunch, approach it like you
would any wild dragon - carefully and cautiously. If things go
well, the Snifflehunch should walk up to you just find, maybe
stick its tongue out in a playful manner. Try not to get too
comfortable though, the dragon is known to sneeze fire at any
given time, so be prepared... and maybe bring a barrel of
tissues. After that, just let the dragon lick the food you've
brought with you off of your hand.
Step 3: Forming a Bond
It may be tempting to climb right on top of the Snifflehunch's
back and head, but be wary. The spines on its head are
especially sensitive to touch and sound. Gently find a suitable
spot and climb on, then slightly tap the draon's horn to lift into
the sky. Flying is rather easy with this dragon because of how
responsive it is to all manner of stimulation (in the case of
Gultlaff, he had a few "sweet-spots" I took advantage of).
Step 4: Solitude
Now with all dragons, a Snifflehunch will like its private time.
Only this time, you will most definitely need yours! As I've
experienced with Gultlaff, a Snifflehunch tends to stay
extremely close to the rider that bonds with it, meaning every
day, hour, and minute that close. If your personal life seems to
become less so, send your Snifflehunch on a few quests, or
somewhere far enough where you can get some peace.
However, make sure you fine tune a call that will bring your
dragon right back to you in case of any trouble.
Step 5: Forever Friendship
Once you've bonded with a Snifflehunch, they will become as
close as buttons with you until the day one of you parts. During
my research, I've discovered that these dragons tend to get a
bit possessive other their riders if another dragon comes near.
In the event of such an interaction, simply let your dragon
know that your other dragons aren't a threat to the
relationship. Be warned though - this lovable dragon would
outcompete even a Sand Wraith for loyalty to the bitter end.
Extras: Titan Snifflehunches
When any dragon becomes a titan, it does becomes twice as
strong and aggressive than its broad wing stage. However, the
aggression factor can be countered with a titan wing
Snifflehunch because of its calm personality. As of yet, there
isn't too much information on how the growth affects the inner
dragon because I am still experiencing it with Gultlaff. However,
he has still been as loving and calm as many of his kind.
Now this makes me want the Snifflehunch in the game. xD At least we can enjoy it in Rise of Berk for the time being. Good read as always. ^^
Ooo, I'll be on the look out for that! That'll give me something new to watch! ^^
These guys sound adorable! I might get one of these over-sized puppies for my group if they ever show up in game
I thank you and everyone esle that has kept track of my DT: 101 Series. Pretty soon, this series will go up on YouTube because I'll have time to make videos on it. Also, really do want all the HTTYD 2 dragons in the game
