Don't waste your gems on mass event chests.
What do I mean by that? Most of the rich people give like 10K gems for chests, and all they do is exchanging it for the new dragon. That's my own opinion but I think that you are wasting too much for a random hybrid that will be 1000 gems later. Save your gems for the event, but not to get the hybrid instantly, just to have some for the event. (thats my personal opinion please don't get offended)

Yes, you're basically right. I am one of those who buys, for example, 200 chests and then uses an exchange of items to get a dragon. I'm more interested in rewards, decorations that are there (as an event or in chests)
Plus also curiosity about how the dragon is capable in DT, BE, TRR on its animations, glow in the Hidden World etc ....
But everyone may have a different reason for acquiring a dragon on the day of the event besides what I wrote
I mean, I don't see it as a waste if the player genuinely enjoys the rewards they get during their little spending spree. I was quite happy to pay gems to get rare/exclusive items and I was very happy to get the ones I would've liked. I'm not too big on the new dragon but that's not what I was participating for– I was just here for a few items and exchanged the ones I didn't want. I respect your opinion, but I think it's upon the player themself.
How do people even get that many gems. I have been saving for three months and only have around 700 gems. I am trying to save 875 for the nightlight expansion. I am not a member but I am a pretty senior player but I still don't understand how people get so many gems without buying them. Any tips on how to get gems or get the event dragons without grinding DT because I don't Ever have much time to play because it is on my moms phone.
For me back when there was still gem grinding (make new viking, play dt for gem achivements, delete viking and start over) I had about 2000 gems when they took it away. Haven't spent it yet :P. But I know some people's strategy is to buy the trial membership and unlock toothles stable quests. Then spam replace until they get bright night flight. (I guess this only works if you have a nightlight though.) Then they do that and maybe get gems. Currently trying this but no luck so far. Maybe it will work for you though. :)
