Kriivthi Mæla | Aurvang

Kriivthi stared at Reg in embarrasment as he waited for a possible scolding, pulling his head into his shoulders in attempt to make himself look smaller.

"Anyways, whatever. Accident. I get it. Just go inside next time. Especially if this keeps happening to you?" Reg spoke in a much less angry tone than what Kriivthi was expecting, his words caused the darkly dressed boy to drop his gaze to the ground. A quick glance over to the long brick wall with no entrance inside brought his attention back to the other teen. He opened his mouth wide to counter it but, again, snapped his jaw shut and stayed silent, still not sure if he could find the right words to speak. The ginger's dæmon then asked if he was alright which Kriivthi could confidently answer he was fine. Only couldn't get the words out in time as the white bat crashed into his back and scrambled onto his shoulder angrily clicking.

"Stop falling off buildings! Or I'll hurt you!" Aurvang barked, glaring while still letting out some agitated clicks towards his human. Kriivthi simply stared at the dæmon as he thinned his lips, not sure what to do after that burst. All the while Herschell is laughing in the background, then made his way past the two and towards Jach.

Neveah | Drishti

You could,” Lila said, sounding strangely hesitant for a moment. That hesitance was gone a moment later though, as she purred “But are you sure that is what you wish?”

The sly tone brought Drishti's head up. He pulled his long body in a little and flicked his tongue at Neve's face, who turned to him with a small frown. They exchanged a series of what sounded like grunts, hisses and a few half-formed, curtly-spoken words that seemed to be their equivalent of a language comprised of looks and raised eyebrows. Completely incomprehensible to an outsider, yet when they turned back to Lila they seemed to have reached an understanding. Drishti settled back on Neve's leg, but his eyes were watching Lila intently.

“What could go wrong?” Neve asked airily, though in a tone that suggested she would very much appreciate Lorelai telling her if there was truly something serious. Then she followed it up with a more lighthearted: “Your voice can’t be that bad.”

She wondered if she should alert the girl to the presences in the vents above them, but decided against it. She wanted to grant them their privacy, and as she’d said to Lila, what could go wrong?

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

Lorelai’s question prompted a quick and rather odd exchange between Neve at her dæmon, Drishti. Lila figured it was some form of communication reserved strictly for the two of them. The older girl tilted her head, not once did the pleasant smile leave her face. Really, it was quite ingenious as she entertained the idea of  attempting such communication with Azul. It would be useful to speak with him without the prying ears and eyes of others.

Given the behaviour Drishti had previously demonstrated, she assumed that the dæmon was taking a far more cautious approach to Lila’s ominous warning, likely advising her against it.

The pair had reached some sort of conclusion, it had seemed as Neveah turned her attention towards Lorelai once more.

“What could go wrong?” Neve questioned.

Lorelai resisted the urge to scoff, instead she merely gazed at Neveah with a neutral expression. What could go wrong? Lorelai could lead Neve up the stairwell, to the highest tower in the school and then push her out the window. Something told her Neveah would not fare as well as the kid who had jumped from it earlier.

“Your voice can’t be that bad.” Neve added with a grin.

Lorelai actually laughed at that one. “You have no idea.” She purred, rolling to her feet. Crouching down, she lowered herself to eye-level with Drishti. “I swear I will allow no harm to befall your girl. You have my word.” She vowed as she daintily drew a finger across her chest.

Lorelai elegantly rose to her feet, strolling towards the door of the dance room where she paused in the entryway. “I suppose I can do this acapella.” She murmured mostly to herself as she gazed at the discarded speaker in the corner of the room.

Lila herself had never been under the influence of her own spell. However, she had consensually experimented on her friends with it. Their descriptions of the sensation varied slightly, however, a few things appeared to be uniformed.

Firstly, it was a sensation of euphoria. The sound that blossomed from Lorelai’s throat was a nectar of the ears, drowning out all other senses until all that remained was the perfect song, hitting the brain with a high like no other. This was where the accounts varied. Her more religious friends likened her voice to that of their god or gods, and her song their salvation, drawing them forward. Her more academic friends claimed that her voice was the song of knowledge, the voice of the universe beckoning them to explore. Lila’s theory was that the song appeals to whatever drives the listener, an irresistible temptation that brings them forward because the result is always the same. They always move towards her, mindlessly ambling after the astonishingly enchanting melody, and nothing short of total incapacitation could prevent them from achieving that goal.

Another thing Lila had often noted in others is that they were never aware of the trance-like state they were put in. According to her friends, in that moment, nothing else mattered to them but the song. Their other senses faded entirely and after the trance was broken, they had no recollection of anything that occurred during their trance, only the song. The song was the only memory of their time under her influence. They would be standing in one spot, and wake up in an entirely new spot. A few of her victims had even broken down crying at the end of a deeply emotional song, their minds likely longing for the high once more. Lorelai could not figure out what predisposed someone to react in such a way because not everyone did. She guessed it could have been an addictive personality or a generally emotional state.

Taking a deep breath, Lorelai tilted her chin downwards and began to sing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zl0l1nttD8

A pure and euphonious melody bubbled from her lips, drifting elegantly through the air before settling upon whatever ears would listen. It was delicate and light, deceptively welcoming while damping any kind of fight or flight instinct to draw the listener in. A song of false truths and broken promises. Dangerously beautiful, much like the singer herself.

~“Come with me....”~

Lorelai slowly began to back out of the room as she sang, extending a beckoning hand to Neveah. She drifted backstage with plans to draw the girl out onto the main stage where the acoustics were far better. The empty theatre produced an echo around her voice, projecting it out into the absent audience in a way that sounded magical.

~And you’ll be....”~

Of course, Lila was completely unaware of Roku lurking in the vents or else she never would have agreed to sing. And if Roku was still within earshot of the purple-haired woman, she too could be affected by the song.

~“In a world of pure imagination...”~

Neveah | Drishti

Drishti had been on high alert from the moment Lila had begun to hint cryptically at her mysterious power. Her ominous promise had only increased that feeling. That had been the essence of their mysterious conversation: suspicious, they agreed to let Lila sing, on the condition that at the first hint of something being off Drishti would use his ability to manipulate sound to shut the whole thing down. So indeed, what could go wrong?

Quite a lot, as it turned out.

The moment Lorelai opened her mouth, several things happened. Or perhaps more accurate, did not happen.

Instead of getting up and following Lila like moths drawn to a flame, both Neve and Drishti remained on the floor of the studio, not entirely absent but not fully present either.

At the first feeling of the sticky, deceptively beautiful tendrils crawling into his ears, Drishti had slammed the full force of his ability down on it, deflecting the brunt of it away from him and his human moments before it ensnared them. But he couldn’t fully negate the siren song's effects, having never before encountered a sound with so much power behind it. He needed all his concentration and focus to maintain his current modicum of control and not get swept away himself. Which was also why he hadn’t already lunged at Lorelai by now, instead twisting his body into tense coils as he strained to keep the song at bay.

As for Neveah, she was left sitting on the ground, immobile with a strange, confused expression on her face as her mind tried to sort out the conflicting feelings bombarding it. On one side the beautiful, irresistible sound trying to lull her under and on the other the deep, burning feeling that something was seriously, dangerously wrong. She was aware that Lila was the cause of all this, but unable to do anything about it until the girl stopped singing.

In short, neither was enchanted into mindlessly following the siren, but they couldn’t fully shake the song's effects either. And Drishti's protection, such as it was, didn’t extend all the way up into the vents, leaving Roku vulnerable to Lorelai's deceptions.

Roku and Yagi feat. the boy wonder

Roku unfortunately, despite her lack of interest in the conversation, was already flew too close to the flame, or in her case, the latch. Something comfotably within the hearing range.

Yagi suddenly reappeared next to her as though he somehow sensed what's about to happened. He spoke in a voice that at the moment Roku couldn't decipher if it's filled with bubbling laugther or concern

"Oh my...I don't think this is a good ide---"

Roku's immediatally being pulled back into that stage with the boy. He's look like he's still in the mood of dancing but he's currently fidgeting with the old recorder, changing the song.

"It's going to be a while before they reopen this place again, we can be here for a bit..."

wait that didn't happened right? This wasn't what happened? There are---we were----

The new song began to play it's weirdly felt like it's played a distance away or under water but the boy doesn't seem to notice, he ran up to Roku and took her hand in his again. lead her toward the center of the stage with the spring in his steps

"There's nothing to be scared of. With the two of us, we can take everything the world is throwing at us. We're each other saftest place. In fact look at them"

Roku looked, noticeing how dark the stage suddenly have become and in darkness she realized that the once empty room is now filled with people, all fancy dressed and all are looking toward them, looking toward her.

Don't look at me! Don't look at me!!

"Hey hey it's okay. They adore us! We'd no longer have to run away ever again."

"There's food here, clothes a place to sleep, no one is out to k,ill you. I wonder why you'd want to runaway" Yagi said but he wasn't there, his voice came out from the boy's mouth

"I think I prefer...if it's just you" Roku told the boy. Who blinked like a deer in the head like, heh, deer, before let out an airy laugh only he could produced.

"Then just us it is then!" He waved with all the flare of the showman (actually his clothes changed too, there're stupidly tall top hat on top of his head, when did that happend?) and suddenly all the audiece disappear. "We can do whatever we want here! What do you want to do, no one will get in between us. and I will never leave. I will n e

Roku, stubborn and determined and strong-willed in term of survival as she is, frankly, isn't as strong willed when it comes to temptation and fixation. So she's immediatally being put in the trace without any struggle. Her mind's wander into the prison of her sweetest dream while her body, in the entraced state, creeped closer toward the latch while her vocal cord hummed softly along with the voice without her knowing it.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

The first irregularity was the stillness at which Neve and her dæmon lay, their eyes appeared to be distant and foggy and yet they remained unmoving. To say that such a response to the music took lorelai by surprise was an understatement. She had never encountered such a reaction before and something told her that Neveah’s dæmon was partially responsible because the only people in the past who had been able to resist her cry were deaf people.

Could the dæmon generate silence around small portions? Lila doubted that was the case. If he was able to entirely block out the song, they would not have been affected at all. Maybe he was able to deflect the sound waves up to a degree? Maybe he was a telepath and was able to prevent his human from moving?

Not discouraged, Lorelai continued her song, sashaying up the stage.

~”Take a look and you’ll see into your imagination.”~

She crooned, the melodious tune circling the amphitheatre like a cat stalking its prey. A certain lethality was poised beneath the sweet, promising poison words.

~”We’ll begin with a spin, travelling in a world of my creation.”~

Spreading her arms out to the side, Lila spun on her heels to gaze back at Neeve who still remained backstage with a wicked grin.

~”What we’ll find will defy explanation...”

Azul, on the other hand, knew almost exactly what was going on. He stood by Neve’s foot, waving his antenna, picking up the diversion of the vibrations caused by the soundwaves. While the extent of his ability as an insect was nowhere close to the supernatural ability to detect vibrations that Drishti seemed to possess, it was capable of recognizing irregularities in movements. He knew that the dæmon was manipulating the sound to decrease the effect it had on his human. An admirable feat as well. But he could not exactly see the helpfulness of it. Either way, both were terribly vulnerable.

Backing up, Azul took flight, fluttering back into the amphitheatre as soaring in circles above Lorelai. He was an ancient and powerful dæmon with centuries of mastering his abilities. Azul was surprised that poor Drishti was holding up so well against Lila’s song and by proxy Azul’s power. The younger dæmon must have really cared for his girl, another trait Azul could respect.

~”If you wanna view paradise.. Simply look around and view it.”~

Lorelai’s song flooded the theatre, filling the void with empty venomous promises of paradise. Of beauty. All of it was for the taking.... If they just followed her.

((Random fact: A butterfly's "ears" are on its wings. They are also hyper sensitive to sound, so much so that they can sense the vibrations of a spider's web while flying in order to avoid being caught))

Neveah | Drishti

Drishti was trapped in a conundrum of his own making. He could feel his strength slipping away at an alarming rate, and he knew that before long he would have to give in to Azul’s power. His only chance lay in cutting off the sound before he got to that point. But to do that, he had to abandon Neveah to the siren’s song, however briefly, because he couldn’t protect both of them and regain control of his own body at the same time. And leaving his human to Lila’s control, even for a moment, was a thought he could hardly stomach.

It hurt. But he knew he had to.

Half in an effort to delay the inevitable, he waited for a quiet moment in the song, when Lila had to draw in a breath.

He pulled back the shared portion of his power, gathering it all into his own body and focusing on the cracked open door. Then he moved.

---

Neveah wasn’t too sure what had happened. One moment she was struggling to keep from getting tangled in the sticky hypnotic web Lila was weaving, the next her mind was clear and she had a snake looping around and on and off her body frantically asking if she was all right, while the vibrations caused by the door being slammed shut thrummed through the floor and up into her hands and feet.

“I’m fine! I’m fine…” Neve assured him, taking a few shaky breaths and catching the snake in her hands when he came back over her shoulder. The closed door effectively muffled the song, meaning that while she could still sense the vibrations of Lila singing her heart out on stage the two of them were surrounded by blissful silence. Except for Drishti’s hissing, his words both worried and angry: “Her dæmon is too strong… How dare she… Never felt that much power before…”

“Thanks,” she said, as insufficient as it felt, stroking the smooth scales. “If she ever does that to us again, you have my full permission to spit at her.” She felt the snake tense up underneath her fingers and quickly amended: “Or maybe just give her a taste of her own medicine. In fact,” she tapped the floor sharply and traced the vibrations the action sent out, “you might have to do that anyway. Unless I’m mistaken, this room only has one door.”

Roku doesn't have a good time

Roku blinked and the boy changed again, his face's suddenly cover in the deer mask. The stupid cra.ppy creepy one he made from cardboard paper and wore around a lot on the street. with the fancy top hat still placing on top of it.
He continued to pulled her forward, forward forward, where they are going? the edge of the stage coming closer and closer...
"What are you doing?" Roku asked, trying to keep her voice even.
The boy turned toward her, the mask covered his expression but the way the face of the deer's being drawn made she think he's grinning.
Then he fallen backward off the stage
"....!" Roku screamed without any noise and reached out to grabbed him by the collar before he fell off.
"This bring back memory isn't it?" The boy asked as if his life wasn't hanging on a threat...wait they're on stage, the fall wouldn't ki,ll him right? right?  "Come on. let me go and jumped with me, you said you wanna be here with me forever. this is the way to do it."
"No" Roku couldn't think of the intelligent way to response
"Well if you insist, how about a little switch of place?"
Roku gasped as she suddenly become the one being hang on by the boy's hold .
"Shall I let go or are you going to say anything" he asked, the mask making him look much more menencing

"Please"

"Yes?"

"Please"

The boy paused in contemplation, then "Nah, you deserved this"

He let go

and the latch gave away and Roku toppled down.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

Children were falling from the sky.

The door leading into the dance studio slammed shut, cloistering Neve mysteriously inside. And the next thing Lorelai knew, a child was falling from the sky.

Lorelai's song cut out in a screech as instinct coiled around her, seizing her limbs and chasing her to spring backwards over her hands, narrowly dodging the falling child. Pressing a hand against her chest, Lila briefly gawked at the small girl.

She seemed to recover quickly as pleasant laughter bubbled from her lips. "It's raining children." She crooned before crouching.

How long had she been in the ceiling?

She must have been drawn to the song.

But how did she get IN the ceiling???

"Hello." Lila cooed to Roku in a friendly tone. "Do you drop in like this often?" She hummed with a good-natured smile on her lips.

Azul fluttered past, landing on Lila's head. He recognized Roku as Yagi's girl and immediately began looking around for the dæmon, keeping his senses on high alert. The Tasmanian devil appeared to have a liking for shadows.

Roku doesn't have a good time

The combination of the fall and the cut off of the song broke Roku from her trance. she landed quite unceremoniously and painfully on the floor. Like any dream, a fall rudely and abruptly pulled her back into reality. Lefting her a gasping mess

For Loreleai and Azul a few things can be noticable regarding of Roku. There's a darkness around her, shadow dancing wildly and however dark the theater might be before has become even darker as if Roku or Yagi has suck all the little light available away. The siren song seemed to have bad effect on Yagi, making his power go haywire. Unlike Drishti, the young daemon doesn't have any countering power and the only way he could remotely stand a chance against Azul is throught pure spite and determination which doesn't do much in the looming shadow that was Azul. With him attempting to escape it in the formless shadow and him trying to fight it and the dream itself upsetting him, Yagi became nothing but the lashing out formless shadow figure.

But Roku fell first and Yagi didn't and with the song stopped and the dream broken, Yagi was free to leave and leave Roku alone he did, without any ounce of hessitation. but he did it without taking his shared power away from her. So for the first time ever since...well morning with the lighter incident. Roku gained somewhat control over the darkness manipulation and she has no idea.

Roku, with the tear still prickling her eyes, wiped her head around violently to look at her new surrounding. Her eyes land on Loreleai and she immediatally came up with severall assumption;  This lady--teen? Lady?? is responsible for whatever just happened. She is a threat and Roku did not like the way she cooed and look down on Roku. She also didn't like that how disorriented she was having that dream taken away from her. Even if Loreleai wasn't a threat, Roku was grouchy and weak and Roku hate showing vulnerability.

Roku bared her teeth and quicky flipped over to expose her middle less and be less vulnerable, like cats. For the second time of the day, no, morning even, She found herself in a pickle. Once again she's being put in a crossroad between fight or flight. As usaul she doesn't feel the need to answer Loreleai, only slightly backing away.

Neveah | Drishti

THUMP.

Neve didn’t actually hear it, considering the soundproof room she was in, but she definitely felt something rather heavy hit the floor of the theatre. She checked upwards and yes, the two heartbeats were gone from the vents.

Whoever it was, they seemed to have startled Lila into ceasing her song, so Neveah got up and made her way over to the door. She pushed it open on a crack and, once met with silence on the other side, opened it fully and slipped out. She felt Drishti slithering after her and stretched out a leg to enable him to climb up.

“We just –” Drishti hissed into her ear as he realized her intent.

“Know,” Neve whispered back. “But what if she someone else?”

Drishti grumbled something about not caring about anyone else, but obligingly draped himself around her shoulders and helped her turn towards the stage.

“Do you drop in like this often?” Lorelai could be heard crooning from up ahead. They both flinched, just before realizing there was no sirenic quality attached to the sound. Quietly, Neve climbed off the stage, although she was under no illusions of somehow hiding her arrival from Lila.

Drishti guided her to a bit of clear floor between the seats, meanwhile whispering what the situation looked like. Once he was sure she was safe, he slipped off her to head for Lila, making no effort to hide his anger. He placed himself in front of the girl, rearing up while making sure he was between her and his human, spreading his hood and displaying fangs and hissing so loudly it echoed around the empty theatre.

From the sound of it, Neveah was pretty sure that if it wasn’t for her dæmon's particular reservations if it came to his venom Lila would already have a faceful of it by now. She still might, the moment a single hypnotic peep passed her lips.

Well. All right, maybe not. Irreversible damage, and all that. Fear of retaliation from Azul. Neve couldn't really judge how strong the older dæmon was, but Drishti had seemed rather intimidated by it. Still, spitting venom was not the only unpleasant surprise Drishti was capable of.

She considered for a moment going up to the newcomer to see if they were alright and if she could do something to help, but Neve could feel their heartbeat thundering through the floor and decided against it. They felt stressed, and the quick gasping breaths she could hear were panicked, and without Drishti she wouldn’t be aware of the situation enough to be able to anticipate them lashing out or something like that. The smartest thing to do was stay here, out of harm’s way, and keep track of the situation.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

The girl looked understandably confused and then terrified.  Hunching over in an animalistic way, teeth bared.

'The pair comes from the streets.'

The memory of Azul's voice echoed in her mind. "Oh. You're Roku, right? And you're dæmon is Yagi, the Tasmanian Devil." Lorelai murmured.

The sound of footsteps drew her attention towards Neveah who was creeping out from within the confines of the dance studio.

Drishti prowled over towards her, displeasure exuding from the full length of his very long body. The snake rose up, hissing menacingly, fangs exposed and glinting in the dull theatre lighting.

"You're going to scare the poor girl." Lorelai sighed softly as she gazed at the dæmon, then past him at Roku. Her eyes returned to Drishti, her expression slightly concerned. "Besides. You have no right to be this angry with me. I specifically asked for you and Neve's consent. You gave it. Even after I warned you. You still gave it." She placed a hand on her hip, pinching the bridge of her nose with her other hand. She remembered the days she could sing for her friends. She could sing without these kinds of consequences. "You know I used to love singing. As a girl, I would sing to anyone who would listen. Every mundane thing could be a song to me. But that was before I was cursed." Her tone dropped slightly with a genuine mournful expression.

Azul remained absolutely still, seemingly the only one noticing the dancing shadows in the room. But then, they were gone. Vanished. It appeared as though Yagi had stuck around after all. Azul could not help the small smirk that wormed his way out his even smaller face. He knew it caused Yagi much distress and neither of them were particularly trying.

Making a soft unmusical humm, Azul returned his attention to Lorelai and Drishti.  The snake dæmon appeared to be taking the route of the aggressor. If Azul was bothered by it, he made no move. Instead, he continued to perch calmly on Lorelai's shoulder, still in the unassuming form of an innocent little butterfly. He felt no threat from this other dæmon and therefore saw no cause to act on it.

He also did not appear at all affected by Lorelai's statement, but it did still hurt. They have had years to figure that out, but Lila's grief was deep. Grief for her mother. Grief for the friends he had caused her to lose. And most of all, Grief over losing the one thing that brought her genuine happiness.

Neveah | Drishti

Sound manipulation was a partially shared power, and Neve had been using her part of it to be able to hear Lila talking over Drishti’s increasingly loud hissing. Her condescending speech only enraged him more, and Neveah could tell he was rapidly getting closer to doing something he would regret. But Lila’s final words sparked a decidedly unhelpful pang of sympathy in her chest, along with a really terrible idea.

She gave the floor a sharp rap with her knuckles. The hissing cut off at once, and in the ensuing silence she could both hear and feel Drishti sliding back to her. She waited until he was up on her shoulders again before stating: “First of all, no, we didn’t consent to be turned into mindless puppets. You didn’t tell us what was going to happen. Second…I get the feeling you’d really like to be able to sing without zombifying your audience, so would it perhaps be worth it to experiment a little, with your song and Drishti’s sound manipulation? I have no idea how it works, but who knows…maybe we could neutralize the siren part, at least a little, and turn it into a normal, if admittedly beautiful song.”

Neve could almost hear Drishti’s bewildered thoughts and she couldn’t avoid a whack to the head before she’d managed to explain her reasoning to him. Once he quieted down, she waited for Lila’s answer, meanwhile keeping track of the vibrations in the room to make sure Roku or her dæmon didn't surprise them all.

Of course, she wasn’t making this offer out of the kindness of her heart. Any kind of resistance to Lila's song during her time at the school would be invaluable, she could tell that much already. Even the practice alone would be worth it. And if it didn’t work, well, they’d be no worse off.

Roku not having a great day

Roku eyes rounded. How could she know--? There's a confusion but also alarm set off in her mind. This person has somehow know about her through an unknown method. She could be dangerous, she's not to be trusted. Also Tasmanian? Roku doesn't know what that words mean but Devil she knows. if it's meant to describe Yagi, then Roku think it's rather fitting.

Suddenly, something sped out from the door behind the theater which made Roku jolted. But the snake was fast and it was able to finish its action in putting itself between Roku and the older teen with its face away from her. Clearing the intention that it wasn't going to attack Roku in one swift mood, as such Roku didn't saw the snake daemon as a threat, but an oppartunity. In the fight of the animal, if two predator easy fighting each other, the prey could make their escape. It same apply to this; it's an opening for her to make an escape. The plan has taken over her mind that any conversation or even mention of her has slipped through her eyes (She didn't want to mentally translate anything anyway)

Unfortunately, the snake suddenly moved away to return to its owner, whom Roku has just noticed. the turn of event that cut off her escape chance made her paid a little more attention to the conversation. but only a little, she still doesn't fully understand what's going on. Well if they're going to keep talking to each other, might as well go back to take that chance.  Roku, who didn't notice the newcomer lack of eyesight has no idea that the blinded girl was keeping track of her, decided to once again fled the scene. But there's not much else for her to go but deeper into the backstage, using all the props and tools and curtains to help cover her. She could enter the vent from outside of the building but the exit within the theather is too high for her to get back in so she has to find another way or somewhere she could hide and wait it out.

((Roku recuring theme: Oh wow Roku has a choice to fight or flee, will she finally stand up for herself and her friends this time??

“First of all, no, we didn’t consent to be turned into mindless puppets. You didn’t tell us what was going to happen." Neve objected as her daemon retreated towards her.

"You did not ask." Lorelai countered. "I assmumed you knew."
She did not exactly strive to keep that ability a secrect and it was often one of the first things first-years were warned about.

Neveah's tone softened slightly. "Second…I get the feeling you’d really like to be able to sing without zombifying your audience, so would it perhaps be worth it to experiment a little, with your song and Drishti’s sound manipulation? I have no idea how it works, but who knows…maybe we could neutralize the siren part, at least a little, and turn it into a normal, if admittedly beautiful song.”

Lorelai's mouth fell open ever so slightly at the offer. "I-" The scound of scurrying feet caused her to glance at Roku as the girl fled backtsage. "Oh." She made no move to hinder the escape of the small girl, instead she merely watched her form disappear into the shadows. "Well then." She murmured and returned her gaze to Neve.

"No." Azul whispered in Lila's ear. "Say no."
Lorelai's lips turned downwards in a frown. She would love nothing more than to be able to sing for others again.... but she also was not willing to teach Drishtri an exploitable weakness if by some miracle, it did work.

"It won't." Azul whispered, accurately guessing what Lorelai was thinking. "If you think that has not already be tried on me, you'd be mistaken. They tried everything to stop me." His tone sounded mournful.

Lorelai was not sure whether or not Azul was lying. He had never lied to her in he past, but he seemed very adament about her saying no even though a part of her appeared to be genuinely considering the thought.

Lorelai's frowned deepened as she stared at her feet for a few momenmts. Shaking her head, she lifted her chin up. "I am sorry." She gazed at Neve.

Reginald nor Corsen received a response. Kriivthi only opened and closed his mouth a few times as if struggling to come up with words to reply with. Before Reg could become annoyed once more, the long-haired boy's own daemon flew over, chewing his human out with a series of scoldings and odd clicking sounds.

Still, Kriivthi did not utter a word. Reg wondered if, despite trying to hold back his anger, he'd still managed to come off too harshly. The poor teen seemed to already have some trouble talking due to shyness, and it only seemed to worsen due to the situation.

Herschell had walked off at this point, only increasing awkwardness in the silence between Reg and Kriivthi.

Reg looked away from the other boy and his daemon. Since talking to him seemed to only prolong the scene, he hoped they'd just leave if he ignored them. From his seated position, he backed against the same wall. Reginald rubbed the arm on the side he'd slammed into the ground with, already feeling the soreness begin to seep in, taking another inhale of nicotine to calm his nerves.

Neve cast her mind back at Lorelai’s words. Had someone warned her?

Huh, maybe. She might have been a little too preoccupied getting used to her new surroundings to take note of any resident school menaces.

“Azul,” Drishti hissed softly in warning. Neveah twitched her fingers, rotating her hand as though turning up the volume button. “It won't,” she caught Azul whispering, sounding surprisingly sad. “If you think that has not already be tried on me, you'd be mistaken. They tried everything to stop me.”

There was a small pause, then Lorelai murmured, “I am sorry.”

Neve hummed. “For yourself, I’m sure.” She rose to her feet, intending to leave. “I don’t suppose I could ask for a few practice sessions regardless, or for you to refrain from singing to us at all.” Her voice hardened slightly. “If it does happen again though, I won’t call him back.”

“Breakfast,” she whispered to Drishti, turning her back on the pair, and he began steering her out of the theatre the same way they’d gotten in. She doubted Roku would be interested in company, and honestly she needed a break herself too.

“Question though…” she said, slowing and lingering before the exit. “If your dæmon is so powerful, can’t he control the siren part for you? It may be a shared power, but it still stems from him, right?” She was pretty sure Drishti could take the vibration detection away from her, although he’d admittedly never done so.

  1. “For yourself, I’m sure.” Neve responded.

Lorelai just chuckled. "For you."

“I don’t suppose I could ask for a few practice sessions regardless, or for you to refrain from singing to us at all.” Her voice hardened slightly. “If it does happen again though, I won’t call him back.”

"Fair." Lila shrugged, returning to her lackadasical nature once again, not at all seemingly remotely concerned.

“Question though…” Neve lingered in the exit. “If your dæmon is so powerful, can’t he control the siren part for you? It may be a shared power, but it still stems from him, right?”

Lorelai shrugged. "No idea."
"Inexperience." Azul twitched his head but offered no further explanation.

A thoughtful expression crossed Lila's face as she turned toward Neveah once again. "During class tomorrow, get outside and stay here. Bring ear plugs. They won't work inside but they should be fine outside. Or come back to the dance room because I will be singing. Whether you like it or not, I consider you a friend now and I protect my own. A group of students will be waiting behind the school building for you. They are also my friends. There is a certain cruel teacher here whom abuses her students and needs to be taught a lesson." Lorelai grinned. "And I am the only one who can stand up to her without facing too many consequences." She waved farewell to Never with her usual charismatic smile

Kriivthi looked back down as Reg turned away, now internally debating if he should leave, or try and talk again. His form slightly flickered out before he took in a silent breath, leaning against the wall with Reg as he looked over to the other red head dancing around Jach to another folk song. Thankfully, the volume was quieter, causing him to be less obnoxious than before.

"So, what did you think of Herschell's giant collection of random crap?" Kriivthi cooed, deciding to just change the subject entirely.

“No idea.” Lila didn’t sound particularly interested in it. But at the same time Neveah caught a soft “Inexperience,” from Azul. His or hers? she wondered and came within a breath of asking before Lorelai spoke up again, warning her of a planned concert during class and advising her to bring earplugs and stay away. “I am the only one who can stand up to her without facing too many consequences,” she proclaimed smugly. Neve privately decided to reserve her judgement until she had actually met the teacher in question herself.

Processing the instructions, Neveah stopped, turning back and tilting her head with a faintly amused expression. “I get the feeling people are either your friends or your enemies.” She paused a moment longer. “I suppose I should be glad I’m in the right category for now.”

Her stomach chose that moment to loudly remind her she hadn’t yet eaten anything today. Without waiting for whatever answer Lila might give, she walked out of the theatre.

Reg flicked off the ashy end of the cigarette. If Corsen were in either of her mammal forms, she may have crinkled her nose.

"Eh?" Reg suspired, before elaborating a bit more on his thoughts. "Impressive, I guess. How's he get it out here when there's nothing around?"

Reg grew up in cityscapes his entire life and was not used to the feeling of living so far to other establishments due to the school's situation. It was a rather daunting feeling.

Another glance was sent towards the ginger in question, still bouncing around a probably annoyed Jach.

"He generally waits until days like this, and goes after whatever the parents bring in. But, I guess before that, he and that Lila girl would sneak out and find ways into town" he cooed, cocking his head as he thought of how they possibly could.

"Don't ask me how they got there... They just did" He chortled.

Corsen decided to dawdle a few yards away, out of the smell of the smoke, lifting one leg once she settled into a corner and lazily gandered at the surrounding area. Now that the food fight had commenced, the most notable thing to watch was Herschell dance about to another tune.

"Hm." Reg droned, closing his eyes as he tilted his head back against the scratchy bricks of which the wall was constructed. At Kriivthi disclosing that he doesn't know how the two teenagers managed to find a way to a town so far away, Reg considered the information. He doubted there were many well-received crossover relations going on, considering the hostility. Reg would have to consider the advantages and disadvantages of associating with both for the future, at least if he was to get a steady supply of lighter fluid and cigarettes. Whether that was paying one to bring them in, or getting them to show him ways to sneak out of the facility.

Unless Corsen allowed Reginald to use quantity manipulation of his free own will; then Reg would happily stay out of the feud altogether.

"Hm." Reg hummed again, thinking back to the interactions leading up to the food getting tossed around. "Guessing it was a bit more simple when the two top dogs were together."

"I don't know... Wasn't around when they were together. Got here pretty much when they broke up" Kriivthi shrugged. Thinking about what he's heard from others who actually did witnessed the relationship.

"Other people say they were like two peas in a pod, got in trouble a lot and I guess just pure tyrants when they were together" He explained. Some stories went vaguely through his head of them.

"Pretty sure some people are happy their animosity is toward each other rather than on them now" He cooed.

"But then again. Heresay... So, I have no idea what it was actually like" He reminded, remembering the two spent the summer stringing together rumours to throw each other under the bus.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

“I get the feeling people are either your friends or your enemies.” Neveah paused in the doorway. “I suppose I should be glad I’m in the right category for now.”

Lorelai just continued to smile pleasantly, giving no indication of emotion towards the younger teen’s words.

Neve vanished from the door frame, leaving Lorelai isolated. Except with Roku who may or may not still be around. Lila did not know, nor did she particularly care to find out.

“Well, that was certainly interesting. I hope you’ve learned your lesson.” Azul lectured.
“Oh, yes.” Lorelai chipped, poison kindness dripping from her lethal tone. “I really did.”

Azul stilled immediately. He knew that voice just as much as he knew his girl. She was furious with him. Far angrier than she had been in a very long time. Despite his many years, it truly scared him.

Lorelai began to skip up the stage, exiting out through a back entrance.

The light of the day was nearly blinding after her eyes had become so accustomed to the dark. Blinking away the harshness of the sun, Lila skirted along the anterior of the building before finding another back door and slipping back inside to the vacant hallway. Most of the first years appeared to be still outside and the older students either in their dorms or in the entry ways.

“Tell me, Azul.” Lila cooed in that same toxically pleasant tone. “Is it true that you can control the siren’s song?”

“Yes.” Azul said simply.

“Is it true that this entire time you could have taken the ability away?” Lila continued as she headed up the stairs.

Azul sighed. “Yes.”
“And is it true that this whole time, I have been suffering... and you could have helped but refused too?” Lila purred once more, ascending the final staircase to her room. Strolling down the hallway, she reached her room and pushed her way inside.

“Honestly.” Azul sighed again. “You need to learn to master your abilities. I cannot allow you to rely so heavily on me. You cannot learn if I am your crutch.”

Lorelai took a breath, and gently shut the door to her room.

Then there was silence. Deafening silence.
“YOU KILLED MY MOTHER!” Lorelai screeched, her pleasant mirage suddenly shattering. “YOU WATCHED MY MOTHER D.IE THEN YOU WATCHED ME AS I HURT THE PEOPLE I LOVED! YOU WATCHED ME DESTROY MY LIFE AND YOU LET IT HAPPEN.”

“You keep resisting me. You can’t control your powers because you continue to hate them and yourself.” Azul reasoned, his tone flat and logical.

He never argued. He was far too old too. And it infuriated Lorelai.

Lorelai laughed cruelly. “All of these years... you could have done something. I COULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THE ONE THING I LOVE AND YOU FREAKING TOOK THAT FROM ME!”

Azul did not reply, seeing that Lila was past the point of being reasonable.

Lorelai cussed him out rather loudly and obscenely then pointed at the window. “GET OUT!” She screeched, shoving it open. “Now.” Her tone dropped to a deadly whisper.

Azul fluttered his wings, crawling out of the window. Lorelai nearly slammed it on him, but the daemon was able to sense the vibrations and quickly get out of the way before the window hit the sill.

Growling, Lorelai whirled around, gripping the chipping white wood of the vanity mirror situated in the corner of her room. She stared at her reflection, tears rolling from her eyes and dragging her mascara down her cheeks in long dark streaks.

Her purple hair was a mess, strewn across her face, sticking to her dampened flesh and stained by the varying colours leaking from her eyes. Her lipstick was smeared, turning the corners of her mouth upwards in an illusionary half-grin.

Sniffing, Lorelai pulled the back of her hand across her cheek, smudging her makeup even further.

Slowly, tendrils of purple smoke exuded from her shaking fingers, drifting through the air in a soft purple sheen. They wound their way up her legs, dispersing into her room, hanging in a heavy fog.

The same mist spilled from her eyes, causing a haunting effect as Lorelai glared, her body still quivering.

Sitting back, she composed herself and sat down. She patted her face dry with a makeup wipe before entirely removing the look. Picking up her primer, Lorelai once again began to apply a fresh face. Her hands moved in perfect stability, as though she were performing surgery. Her hands moved with expert precision and she looked entirely and utterly calm once more.

The one thing that gave away her true emotions was the ever-present gas filling up the room.

Performing the last touches on her immaculate winged eyeliner, Lorelai steadily rose herself from her seat, folding her hands neatly into her lap. By now, the smoke had ceased rolling off of her form in inky tendrils, but it will still very much present in the room.

Lorelai slowly made her way over to her closet, opening up the overflowing storage unit and selecting a blue sundress from the hangers.

Credit: Design in a Teacup)

She had made it herself and had just wrapped up the project rather recently. It was definitely her new favourite article of clothing, but now she beheld it with a mixture of irony and disdain.

Peeling her old clothes off her shoulder, Lorelai allowed them to crumble to the floor. She slipped the sun dress over her body, fixing the collar around her neck and the bow around her delicate waist. Lorelai exchanged her pointe shoes for some light blue wedge sandal heels. The ribbons from her shoes were tied in criss-crossing patterns up her calves and drew attention to the small butterfly adornments that appeared to flutter across her ankles.

Dusting herself off, Lorelai took a breath and opened the door.

Smoke spilled from her room, dissipating almost instantly now that it had finally hit some form of circulation. Any passerbyers would probably assume that Lorelai had smoked it up chasing a high.

And unfortunately, a student just so happened to be walking past, attempting to get to the astronomy classroom which also resided in the tower directly adjacent to Lorelai, corrected by an indoor bridge.

As the student passed by Lorelai’s room she began to couch, deep racking convulsions that pulled her onto her knees.

Lorelai gazed at the student with bemusement as the poor girl rolled onto her side, grasping at her throat emitting strange wheezing sounds. She stared at Lorelai with wide eyes, as if trying to ask for help but her lungs could not receive the oxygen to formulate words.

“That looks like a nasty allergy attack, there.” Lorelai murmured heartlessly. “Pity.” She hummed as she delicately stepped over the writhing form of the student.

Azul had been waiting for her in the hallway, drifting in the air as he observed the mess Lorelai had caused.

Lorelai did not acknowledge him, plastering an all-to pleasant smile on her face as she strolled past leaving both Azul and the choking student behind.

Azul was well aware of this behaviour, Lorelai would act like everything was fine. This is what she had been taught since she was a child. Instead of processing her emotions, she would simply ignore them. And she would continue to be furious with Azul, finding minute and subtle ways to punish him. This would likely continue for months.

Azul landed on the student’s head. “You really did have a bad allergy attack.” He rumbled.

Then after a few moment’s hesitation, he fluttered after Lorelai, and the smoke naturally dissipated, leaving the student gasping for breath.

"It's fine, I don't think everything gets totally ready until tomorrow." Coronach shrugged, swinging her legs over the chair and getting up "Lets go then, I think they're..."

"Down the hall where it ever so clearly says 'Registration'" Aligerous reminded with a smirk,

"Ah right. That way." Coronach smiled, leaving Violeta to the registration.

"Ugh, what a bunch of drama." Reg smiled grimly at the thought of such a couple. He was not unused to such duos, those that fed of one another's faults. In fact, those seemed to be the majority of the types of couples in crowds he hung around until recently. The constant break-ups, backstabbings, make-ups, and repeats of the cycle were far too much drama to be worth it in Reg's mind. He felt that the aftermath of those outcomes is what turned him off the dating trail, only interested in short-term relations and nothing more.

"You signed up for those class things, then?" Reg asked, shifting the conversation away from other people's relationship spectacle.

Kriivthi breathed out a smile and quietly agreed, sending another confused glance towards the other ginger who was now just pestering the other teen.

"Nah, haven't signed up for this year" Kriiv replied, pushing off the wall and looking for those signs leading to the registration office. Seeing as most of the parents are out here, the office would probably be a short line for the time being.

"I can show you were the thing is, if you want" he mused.

"Sure, that can repay nearly giving me a concussion," Reg remarked crotchety, unable to keep back the snarky remark due to his nature, though he had no venom behind his words. He took one last puff of his smoke before rubbing the end against a sandy spot on the ground. In the past, he'd have left the entire cigarette there, but Corsen had trained the redhead to be more mindful of his habit, even if he had no interest in quitting. Reg dramatically got to his feet, brushing off his clothes of any dust that may have coated them from either his fall or from having been sitting on the ground. "Lead the way, then."

Violeta smiled, glad she had her new friends.  She had also asked for permission to go visit her family, and to bring Connie with her, which the teacher agreed to, giving them signout passes. Violeta thanked her and went outside, surprised to find her friend waiting for her.

"Hey, I got us permission to leave the campus. I figured now is a good time for me to give you that riding lesson I promised! Keep in mind, I just know the basics, so there's that to consider." Violeta offered, showing her friend the dismissal passes she got so they could visit her family.

"It'll be fun! Her mom's making brisket and pilaf for lunch!" Heru chimed in, doing happy loops in the air as a shimmering silk moth

"Look, if you ever have a chance to fall from the sky and land on me. You're more than welcomed to do just that" Kriivthi let out a small laugh as he lead the way back into the building. As suspected, the line was short, with a couple girls leaving the office and talking about leaving the school with some passes allowing them back in after their adventure.

The sign up sheet was rather basic to Kriivthi, but the long list of classes was a little overwhelming to him. Each having their own little blurb to describe what it's for. Not like the teachers outside weren't handling that well enough. There were the core classes that every basic school had, already marked down so they didn't need to write it in. The secondary and option classes were the ones that had Kriivthi scratching his head. Some athletic based one with sports, dance, bootcamp with combat, along with several more. While others were science based, astronomy, bio, chem, physics, environmental, computer, ect. Any class marked as an Art class had ranged from mechanics to film, to basic art classes, and so many more. The last bit of it was dæmon orientated, however there wasn't anywhere to write down the classes they wanted. Instead it was structured as a personal questionaire, mostly about how close their bond was. Kriivthi didn't take much time to finish filling everything in.

'How old is your dæmon?

16

How many powers does your dæmon have?

3

What powers?

Dream manip

Echolocation

Invisibility

On a scale of 1-10, how much control do you have over these powers?

6

How far can your dæmon travel from you?

Pretty far

Are you able to feel the injuries of your dæmon and vice versa?' Kriivthi stilled for a moment, pursing his lips in thought of all the possible outcomes that could come from him telling the truth. Remembering a few kids who wrote down 'yes' had disappeared shortly into the school year. The thought then decided his answer, writing down the two letter word, 'No'. Reading over everything, he found the sheet was fine and then handed it back to the teacher.

Reg followed along after the dark-haired teen, taking up a form of his own upon arriving to their destination.

Blahblahblah, He thought as his blue eyes skipped over anything that didn't seem particularly important. Since he couldn't choose his own core classes, he didn't bother reading what they were. Reg quickly scribbled in only the necessary information for the personal identifying questions.

Reg picked the bare minimum for secondary classes, just adding anything that seemed either slightly interesting or easy to perform in, before glancing down to the final part. Unlike the other areas of the form, the classes centered around daemons were structured differently, asking for more of Reginald's attention than the earlier parts had.

Reg wrote a quick '11?' next to the question asking for Corsen's age. Then '3?' under the section asking about how many powers he and the daemon possessed.

Reg was briefly stumped on the part asking about his control level over the powers. He added a generous '5???' in the blank space. However, it was the last question that Reg was the most puzzled about. He hadn't even been aware that there were daemons and humans that could feel each other's pain. He answered this with a firm 'No.'

"Wow, I wish Corsen would feel my pain, then she might stop pecking me and pulling my hair." Reg mused as he turned in the form.

"Shut up," Corsen clawed Reg's leg from the ground, having shifted into her red panda form once more on the journey to the registering room.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

Placing a pair of sparkly blue sunglasses over the bridge of her nose, Lorelai sashayed down the hallway, her matching blue purse hung daintily from her wrist.

She strolled past a pair of students and entered into the office, pressing her fingers against the sides of her sunglasses.

Already inside the office was the lithe boy Lila immediately recognized as Casper, but other than him and Reg, it appeared relatively empty.

Pursing her lips, Lorelai sashayed towards the desk, her glittering headband glinting with each sway of her hips.

"Ah, Lorelai. What do you have for me this time?" The security guard currently manning the desk asked.

Lila smiled and opened her purse, pulling out a bright pink sheet of parchment paper marked up in delicate cursive with a sparkly gel pen. "The usual. A few poems, recited some Shakespeare. It's scented, as well. Thought it would add some spice."

The security guard took her paper, slowly bringing the altered questionnaire up to his nose and sniffed. "Hmm. It's nice."

"Strawberries." Lila giggled.

The guard unfolded the questionnaire, his expression soured as he scanned over the paper. "My dæmon is older than the sh.it stain on the ceiling of the cafeteria that has been there since first year." He read aloud in a monotonous and unamused voice.

"Did I write that?" Lila gasped in shock, pressing a hand to her chest. "Oopsies."

She turned and strolled out, blowing a kiss at Kriivthi on her way past, the subtle scent of her lavender and coconut perfume lingering in the air after her departure

Kriivthi waited for Reg to finish up his form when the purple haired girl strolled in, conversing with the attendant before he read out loud one of her answers. The profanity caused Kriiv to tilt his head and raise an eyebrow as she played it off like a joke. Now making Kriivthi wish he did the same on his own if that's how they'd respond to it. But alas, he already handed it in. He internally sighed, letting the butterfly girl pass by with ease. Rolling his eyes at the kiss that was blown his way, having no interest in humouring it. Reg having handed in his and they began to walk out. Kriivthi chuckled at Reg's comment, waiting until they were further from the office and out of sight of any teachers before chiming in.

"Yeah, it's definitely nicer when they feel what they do to you" He purred, sending a coy side glance to Aurvang who was wrapped around his shoulders as a snake. Slightly grumbling to himself but not protesting.

Kriivthi ignored Lorelai's blown kiss, and Reg disregarded the entire thing.

"Eh?" Reg responded as Kriivthi heavily hinted at having the exact bond they'd been talking about. Reg glanced behind them, judging the distance between where they were walking now compared to the room they'd just been in. He realized Kriivthi had waited to admit the truth until they were out of earshot of the teachers.

"Wait, is having that a secret or something?" Reg inquired, shaking Corsen off his leg as she attempted to climb it to hitch a free ride.

Kriivthi let out a long debating sound, while swaying his head from side to side.

"Not quite... But... Not really something you want the school to know either. Heard others say they put yes, even if they didn't actually. Then they were 'moved to a new school for better training', but... No one really hears from them after" he hummed, pulling his hands up to make quotations.

"I don't know. Just think it's better to play it safe" he cooed, stuffing his hands in his pockets.

Reginald turned to look at Kriivthi, ignoring the pouting red panda, whining from not being picked up.
"Creepy. Wonder why it's such a big deal beyond... what we already got going on." Reg muttered, indicating the bonding and shared powers humans and daemon pairs already had. Nonetheless, he was glad he'd learned a bit more on the subject, as he'd not even known about the phenomenon.
"Know when we get results back for the last thing?" Reginald asked, figuring even if Kriivthi hadn't done this before, he might know more than the redhead.

"Pestering Jach?" Kriiv chortled as he sat down by the other two. Herschell nodded with a wide closed smile.

"Absolutely" He sang, rolling Kriivthi's eyes.

"Reg and I were wondering when those results come back for that questionaire on the registrations. Figure you would know" Kriivthi asked, Herschell thought for a moment as he processed what questionaire he was talking about.

"Oh! Yeah, uhm. Tomorrow? Generally? If not then the day after. But, it comes out pretty quick. Why what you guys put?" Herschell barked, leaning on his hands and crossing his legs.

Reginald Eason Pierce | Corsen

"I wrote that the red rat and I can be separated as far as I can throw her." Reg crossed his arms. "And I have a great arm."
Corsen looked horrified for a moment, but realized she'd never been thrown by the male before. Furthermore, they actually had a general understanding of the distance they could be apart from one another.
Corsen sighed at her human's horrid sense of humor.
"Fine." Reg huffed, raising a finger for every point he brought up from memory. "Pretty good distance apart. No shared pain stuff. Medium level of shared power control."

"Sounds like fun." Coronach smiled, giving a side glance to Aligerous who perched contently on her shoulder.

"I could teach the basics, I mean it's not human standards, but it works." Aligerous shrugged

"And how the heck did you get them to allow us both to leave?" She asked, a little surprised. Usually it took a minute of persuasion (and lying) to get out.

Maylandi stopped her yawn midway as Reg spoke, snapping her jaw shut and looking to the red panda with confused horror. Her own human simply chuckling at the statement that was followed up with more simple answers. She slinked over to the other dæmon as a wolf with a tilted head.

"Are you okay with this human?" She whispered, genuine concern on her features as she looked between the red head and the panda. Kriivthi, once again, simply tilted his head, internally thinking of the answers he gave and wished he could of been as snarky as Lila or Reg. Then gave his answers to Herschell who simply nodded and hummed.

"Yeah you'll guys will be fine. Results should be out tomorrow" He sang.

Lorelai -18- |Azul -Dæmon-|

Humming under her breath, Lila walked with a perky step down the hall. She paused by a metal door, the plaque above the door read "Principal's" etched into the metal.

Lila tilted her head as she surveyed the area. The lock to the door had been placed behind metal bars... probably because of how notorious she had been for breaking into the office.

There was also a new camera mounted to the wall.

Lorelai hummed gently and clicked her fingers. Azul zipped above her head and settled onto the camera, extending a Wing and blocking it out entirely.

Still, the metal gate did not budge.

Lila approached to investigate, trying to stick her fingers through the metal wires. She did not get very far. The lock on the door was well guarded.

Tilting her head, Lila attempted to figure out a way to remove it. But there was no control panel or lock. The next logical assumption is that the camera mounted on the wall had something to do with it.

Pausing, Lila called Azul back to her. She explored further down the hall until she encountered another member of the security team.

"Halt!" Lila called as the guard passed.

The older woman faltered and shakily gazed at her, just as Azul discreetly landed on the guards shoulder.

Lila extended a hand towards her. "Hello, Emily." She cooed, reading the name off her jacket. "My name is Felix Kaliya. I appear to be having trouble accessing my office. Do you suppose you could assist me?"

Emily's eyes widened briefly before she dramatically nodded her head, shaking Lila's hand. "Yes, sir, right this way, sir."

Lorelai grinned, following the woman. By making her believe Lorelai to be the principal, she could ensure that this hapless guard would obey all of her instructions.

Lila paused just out of range of the camera.

"You just need to look here." Emily smiled, gesturing up towards the camera. "Once it recognizes you, the gate should open."

Sure enough,  the gate slid open, revealing the lock.

Removing the key from her belt, Emily opened the door for her. "See?"

"Much obliged." Lila cooed as she strolled over. However, as soon as she fell within range of the camera, the gate sprung shut and the door slammed closed causing Emily's to jump back in alarm. "Huh. That is odd... must be a glitch in the system."

Lorelai frowned as she glared at the camera. "Must be. Now why don't you go fix that for me?"

"Right away, sir!" Emily scurried off.

"How much longer will she believe that I am Felix?" Lila murmured to Azul as she watched the woman go.

"Not much." Azul responded.

"Hmmph." Lila grunted as she once again turned her attention to the blasted camera.

Belief was a funny thing. Despite all physical, tangible evidence presented to them, people will find a way to believe in the impossible like the world being flat or mind controlling radio waves. It was genuinely astonishing the things Azul could make people believe deep within their heart of hearts.

Sparing one last glance at the tricky camera, Lorelai stalked off. She obviously could not get in alone. She needed help. And unfortunately, she only could think of one person with the power set that could help her.

Roku doesn't have a good time

Roku found her hiding spot behind some pile of props. She tries to muffled her pants from the stress but it doesn't seem anyone or anything has giving her chase on paid her anymind, the fact the two just seemed to continue on their conversation. With nothing for her to do and her life on the line (at least from Roku's perspective) She paid attention and give it a listen more closely this time. She doesn't understand all of it but it doesn't sound bad or implie that any of the girls are evi,l as she once thought. at lest not at the level of the evil-mustache twirling villains.

But Roku's mind are warped and she's in the constant mindset of mistrust and antagonising everyone and everything. So even if the lavender hair girl isn't quote on quote evil, it would take more than that for Roku to not being hostile and skittish around her or anyone she've met today really. The conversation soon died down and one of them, the snake girl, left. The purple haired girl stick around a little longer, talking to her daemon. and getting close to where Roku was but eventually walked passed and out through to back door. Ah so that's the exit. But between one of the two, Roku felt safer to exit the same way the snake girl, the lesser of the two evil, did. After all her daemon did helped Roku made her escape.

((Roku who's not really literate or know the tradition of school would never register for class herself so everything has already been done by the guy who sort of blackmailing her in her flashback since her enrolling here is forced and a little unorthodox already. I'm not sure if you have any plan on the school npcs so I don't want to just make him the principle yet until allow or know that it's not contradict with anyone (like Wolf) but I feel like he'd at least be very big and high up in school stuff. I have not decided on the name yet but I'm just gonna dubbed him lion bearded man with glasses (from Roku perspective) for now))

"I'm used to it, now," Corsen responded to the wolf with a reassuring expression. "He only jests, even if it's in poor taste. I'm assuming our relationship isn't exactly normal from an outside perspective... but I'm fine, thank you."

Corsen remembered early on when the redhead was in a far darker place, devoid of much humour of any sort. Even if she did not quite understand humanity's taste for facetious jocularity, she acknowledged coping mechanisms. In a way, Corsen knew that over time she would probably pick up elements of Reg's humour for herself as they bonded closer.

Neveah | Drishti

Luckily the food fight appeared to have subsided by the time they got back to the courtyard. Even more luckily, plenty of food seemed to have survived it. Neveah grabbed a tray and took her time passing every table, sampling everything she thought smelled good and occasionally feeling Drishti pick up things he wanted. Once at the end they had to take a trip back, because the dæmon decided he wanted something he’d passed up earlier after all.

He could have gone himself, of course. But apart from not wanting to leave his human alone, it probably also helped that riding on her shoulders was a way of travelling that didn’t require him to put in much effort.

Once done, Drishti picked out a sunny table. Neve put the tray down and settled into one of the chairs while the snake slid off her and stretched out in the warmth. She began working her way through the food, listening to Drishti describe their surroundings with his mouth full and pulling at the sound waves of the conversations going on around them to listen in to those as well.

Which was how she picked up on the idea that they should probably head to the registration office relatively soon, since she apparently had to sign up for her classes there. Neve told Drishti as much, and once they were through most of the food she decided to finish her last muffin on the go. She waited for Drishti to gulp down whatever his last morsel of food was before getting up and dropping off the tray, munching on the muffin as she felt the snake periscoping around to find the office.

Once they entered it, Neve sniffed, trying to pin down the faintly familiar scent. “Smell?” she asked. The snake flicked his forked tongue out, tasting the air. “Lorelai. Just missed her.”

“Probably good,” she decided. He gave a short squeeze in agreement and led her up to the front of the desk. She felt for the top of it and told the occupant she needed a registration form.

“Here you go,” the guard on duty hesitated for a second. “Do you need me to, uhm...”

Suppressing a sigh, Neve shook her head with a slightly forced smile. “No, thank you. He can read.” Drishti punctuated that statement with a short hiss and wrapped the tip of his tail around the offered pen.

Preferring the sunny outdoors over the awkward looks she could tell they would get in here, she walked out again and let Drishti steer her to another sunny table. This time she flattened the sheet on the table and rotated it slightly so he could read it for her. Apparently the core subjects were obligatory, and her parents had given her advice on a few secondary ones to pick. She chose a couple more that sounded interesting, Drishti nudging her hand to the right place on the paper. Her handwriting was a bit crooked, and the lines weren’t exactly straight, but overall not intelligible.

The last part of the form was a dæmon-related questionnaire. She skimmed through the first three questions quickly, giving Drishti's age and power set. The fourth made her pause.

On a scale of 1-10, how much control do you have over these powers?

“Huh,” she hummed, pen poised over the sheet. “Funny phrasing.”

As far as she knew, not all powers could be shared in equal measure with human partners. Neve had no control over Drishti's empathic inundation, for example. But the fact that the school skipped over these nuances and just generalized “control over these powers”...

“Almost sounds like they’re asking how much control I have over you,” she muttered to Drishti, who leaned forward to inspect the letters up close and presumably check if he had read them right.

Since she’d been using his shared abilities in her daily life for about three years, Neve wrote down 8. 9 for vibration detection, 7 for sound manipulation, leaving out his solo power. If anyone asked she could explain her reasoning later on.

How far can your dæmon travel from you? was the next question.

Well it’s not like we’ve ever measured it. Drishti usually stuck pretty close to her, but as far as she knew that wasn’t because of any physical inability to leave. She wrote down At least across the courtyard.

Are you able to feel the injuries of your dæmon and vice versa? He had gotten pretty good at warning her in time to prevent injury from happening in the first place, but if it did then yes.

Neve scribbled down that last answer, still mildly puzzled with the odd questions. She went in, handed in her form and left the office again, wondering how strictly regulated this ‘orientation’ thing for today was.

12 years old is dramatic (Roku)

A few moments later, Roku found another place she deemed safe and quiet enough to be. She has enough excitement for today already thank you very much, eventhough her life on the street was much more dangerous. A quiet moment of breather for her to reflect are far inbetween and too much could lead Roku to the darker place but currently Roku does welcome them.

It was...complicate, Roku doesn't do well with people. She hate people, she hate Yagi and the demon and she hate being with herself and her own thought. The only person she felt comfortable to be with was no longer there. and she cursed whatever spell the purple hair girl has put her in, remind her of that and took it all away again. Forget not e.vil, She hate her. She hate everyone, she hate this place.

First, she was attacked by a bunch of daemons over an empty lighter, no, first she was caught by the janitor and was force to clean herself, no, first she was running away from some student guard then almost k,illed by some jumping lunatic who wouldn't stay dead---not dead---notdeadnotdeadstillalivestillbreatherandhurtandohgodallthebloo.dandbones Afterward the lighter incident she was rudely put into her worst nightmare (dream, you want it to stay that way forever) by someone more powerful than her.

This is isn't any better is it? It may not have been the lawless land of ki,ll or be ki,lled she was once it but said lawless land isn't actually lawless to begin with was it? There are rules in the society but those who leak in the shadow like her simply not follow them, same with this school. She may not fit in but she doesn't have to play it by the rules. If anything the school was like those bar she was once put behind, seperate her from more harsher outside world but doesn't mean that the place itself would offer comfort, if anything it caged her until her inevidable demise without giving her any options like the outside world was, yes. She has to escape....eventually after reaping all the oportunity this place could offer her drie.

"I promised the lady at registration I'd bring her some of the fabric we have for sale. And a batch of pomegranets that we brought with us from up river. Her daughter loves them apparently. The fabric is for the lady's sister for her dress shop. She needs some of the silk we brought." Violeta replied, Heru perched on her shoulder as a burrowing owl again.

"We also promised to bring her some sweet buns when we came back to check in." The Daemon chirped, wiggling his birdy eyebrows the way he'd seen his human do sometimes

"Bribary..." Aligerous gasped "Why didn't we think of that?!"

"Probably because we thought it was illegal." Coronach smirked, "The way they stare at us makes it seem like we're bailing out of prison."

Violeta burst out laughing.

"Well, I probably shouldn't say "bribery" per say. It was more of a business deal. And I'm a Gyptian, so we do deals all the time." She told her friends, Heru laughing at the looks on their faces
