A Dæmon's Tribulation - Roleplay Thread
Yagi, still laughing said "Oh oh..Here she's come!"
Running towards her was a wierd looking red raccoon creature, presumely a shadow ((It's what Roku called Daemon)). Roku growled and braced herself, it is a small harmless animal, she could take it on, unless Oh no she's actually a little scared, her resolved broke the last few second and she decided to flee, running on all four. A human child is still a little bigger and ill-equip to do it under the table compare to the smaller animal so it's ungraceful and she knocked into the table enough time that some people start to notice something wrong. Roku escaped from the other end of the table, trying to make it into the bushes.
"Not exactly. Think more like a regular loaf of bread with cinnamon inside." Violeta replied, Heru fluttering into his silk moth form and sliding into her pocket as his owner handed over the sweet buns.
"Pretty much what Violeta said." Heru added, nodding his little head from his new hiding place
"Never had things like this before, mostly because my parents don't do cooking." Coronach shrugged, glancing over to watch Aligerous gather his cereal-most likely cheerios or fruit loops as the circles were his favorite.
"Personally, I enjoy the sweet breads, especially the brioche! It's amazing with goat butter! That's pretty much the only milk producing animal we can take on the boats anyways." Heru commented, having a bit of a sweet tooth like his human. Violeta had to giggle at that.
"Heru here is Mr. Sweet Beak to the kids in the clan. Nobody other than me has gotten a Daemon yet, but the Clan is actually hoping more of them will. We looked up some old records from when humans and daemons got along, so as far as we could tell, Gyptians in particular got along well with them." Violeta told Conorach, watching her Daemon eat it's cereal.
"So what kinds of animals can you turn into? I can do silk moth, burrowing owl and red hawk." Heru asked Aligerous out of curiosity, his shimmering wings looking opalescent in the sunlight
"You're telling me... how did that even happen?" Reg said, rubbing the spot on his face he'd been hit. He was still out of the loop of his surroundings, only just noticing Corsen, Aurvang, and Sika all run towards a table. Suddenly, a small but clearly human figure darted out from beneath the relative hiding of the table.
The dark-haired kid raced towards some bushes, but Corsen grabbed at the human's sleeve with her teeth, trying to slow her down long enough to get a good look at the girl.
"Hey..." Reg got up, striding over to the scuffle to rein back the red panda. "What's going on here?"
"Boo" A crow suddenly made itself appear right in front of Roku, right when she made her exit as well as another very big bat that looks like a fox and in the series of event after event, The red raccoon rat looking thing caught up to her and grabed on to her sleeve and make her stumbled on her stepped ultimately stopped her in her track before she reached the safety of the bushes. This is bad, people are going to look her way soon, adults.
For the animal not so big, it pocessed some unexpected strength. The thing with this though is that when a dog, however small they are, when they grabbed on to you you'd usually allow it to assert its strength in fear of accidentally hurting it
Roku is, the type of person who would hurt a dog
She pulled and throw her hand around to try to throw the daemon off with all her strength. Before resort to using her feet to try to kick it away. Yagi is obviously unhelpful and Roku was so in the cornered animal state she forget about her newly develope shadow power.
If she was scared of a red panda before she's terrified of the Flying fox now. She did noted the weirdness of the animal when she first ran passed it a few moments ago but with it dived in to pinned her down like a falcon divebombing a duckling, a scaringly big bat with a fox-like face, all unnaturally pure white, Roku would see the this daemon as the immmediatae threat and unlike Duckling with it short helpless barely-wing or The pigeon she saw vainly falpping about in it last moment to bat away at the falcon, Roku has arms, well one available arm anyway and she's about to grabbed on to those weak soft mambrane and yank it off if the daemon if she has too. She's no ducklings! she's no prey animals!
And so she did, reaching out to grabbed on to bat's wing in the attempt to pull and swung it to the ground. She noticed shadows loaming over her, not Yagi's doing but the adults and teens attracted by the comotion.
"Lucky, people round here are... not hateful of them, but still mistrustful..." Coronach felt a little bit of envy to hear that from Violeta. While her parents were pretty impressed with the Dæmon that was Aligerous, they still sent her off to the private school. A look of mistrust painted on their faces. She snapped back to reality when Aligerous came back, a bowl of cheerios held by his mouth. He then was asked about his forms.
"My go-to form is a raven." he started, putting down the bowl first. "But I have this one-" he gestured to his fox form "And a horse-which is what got us here." he smirked, gesturing to the school grounds.
"He tried to teach me to ride, and we may have gone too fast and apparently he has troubles stopping."
"and that's the first time she had her bones snap, crackle and pop." Aligerous finished, a smirk on his fox face.
Sika watched with his beady black eyes, confused by what was happening. Why were they fighting the girl? He'd only meant to scare her. He felt Jach's glare on his back, warning him to not get involved, but of course ignored it.
He flapped up and hovered above the weird little fight going on. That teen could pack a punch, by the looks of it. The poor red panda was being thrown about everywhere, and -- oh no, Aur had joined.
He knew a bat's wings could be delicate and easily torn if caught on something, and those hands heading towards Aur's wings did not in the slightest look friendly. He folded his wings and dropped to just above the flailing human and daemons, then tried to pull the bat away while squawking to the panda to let go.
Fights weren't his thing at all. In fact he usually ran away from them as quick as he could.
Ah Roku really did underestimated the daemons. With Yahi barely shifter between three mostly identical animals, she forgot how dangerous these shadows shifting abilities and various powers can be. Roku grew desperated and scared when the snake coiled around her arm moving its face closer, ready bite.
"You deserved it, this is all your fault" Roku swore she heard Yagi said from somewhere unseen.
The teen cringed away with her eyes close but the bite never come, she then suddenly feel weightless as she's being lifted up with easr by the back collar. In which she let out a surprise squawk. Thinking that the snake has shifted back to the flying fox to finish the job. But she barely has anytime to struggle or is too in shock to do so when she was dropped rather unceremoniously on the chair at which she immediatally inches away from the table and almost fall off of the chair she was dropped on. She was panting and shaking and patting herself to check for any damage, eyes wild.
A plate of food landed in front of her and she flinched hard. Looking at it like it was alienate object then at the older teen responseble for both carrying her here and giving her food like he is crazy, at the daemon cuddling up to him with fear and hatred, at the other occupants teen at the table, then at the food again like she doesnt understand.
"So what was that?" the teen asked with slight annoyance in his voice after telling the adult off three time, an action Roku was thankful for but refused to admit it. She refused to speak to him now too as she looked at him. Similary to the way a child refused to speak when they done something bad....or just facing with strangers, or both in this case.
The scene Lorelai had caused was quickly shown up by yet another scrabble in the courtyard.
The purple haired woman snapped her gaze around to glare at the teens causing the disturbance. Typically, that was her job.
"Should we... ahh... help?" Serena hummed as she followed Lorelai's gaze.
"Let them deal with it." Lorelai scoffed. She turned on her heel, strolling across the grass. Mentally, she made a note of of group. Fighters. Good. They needed to be to survive in a place like this.
Lorelai grinned, halting in front of a second year boy. "You. Clean this up." She gestured to the pile of papers she made.
The ivory parchments were now being scattered by the gentle breeze. All of the dozens of reasons she got detention were lost to the wind.
"Ah?" The kid blinked up at her wirh glazed eyes.
"You have two choices." Lorelai growled menacingly. "You can do it yourself, or I can make you." She reached her hand out to touch his shoulder.
He immediately flinched away. "No. I... I can do it."
The kid wasted no time, running feebly after the papers as they tossed and turned into the turbulent breeze.
Lorelai chuckled, folding her arms. Azul wasn't even here and yet the infamy of her abilities were enough to cause chaos.
Michael cringed. "Wasn't that a bit... harsh?"
"Says the guy who just hit a little girl." Lorelai retorted.
"Hey! I did not hit her!" Michael protested.
Lorelai laughed. "They have to learn who is in charge... especially with fresh meat on the block." She turned, eyeing a group of first years with an soft albeit stern expression.
Reg had reached for Corsen during the heat of the bout, though the younger teen flung the small animal about and out of his grasp. The dark-haired girl also grabbed at the bat daemon that'd jumped into the mix, causing it to react in anger. The sight made the redhead's stomach feel queasy. Corsen still kept an iron grip until Kriivthi pushed all of the daemons off the girl.
Reg finally picked up the red panda, shoving her small form under his arm as if she were a narrow duffel bag, securing her into place.
"Why?" Reg barked at Corsen, the latter's white ears bending slightly at the boy's question, though Reg wasn't sure if the behavior was due to anger, shame, or fear. No matter, Reg didn't understand what had caused the fit to occur in the first place.
"The human there was messing around with powers in hiding," Corsen spoke in a pant, beginning to regain her breath after having been flung around like a ragdoll. "It's what caused that wretched pocket fire tool to hit you."
"..." Reg didn't know how to respond. Amidst Corsen and the other daemons going after the young girl, he'd already forgotten about the lighter incident that'd occurred only a minute or two beforehand. It had been surprising at most, so he wasn't particularly mad about the ordeal, at the moment at least. He was more curious as to what the girl had been trying to accomplish.
"What were you wanting with this?" Reg asked, lifting the lighter in question up. The unnamed girl hadn't answered Kriivthi, but the ginger still pushed the query, hoping to get some sort of response as to what had led to the girl supposedly using her powers in order to manipulate the lighter.
Roku still stubbornly refused to answer to either teens but she did perk up a little when Reg brought out his lighter and her eyes zero in on it, frown uncurled.
Jach swore under his breath and went to retrieve the crow. 'Why?' He asked Sika, clamping the treacherous bird in his arms.
'Well, you weren't doing anything,' Sikastan muttered.
Jach sat down at the table again, just as Kriivthi plunked the girl in the opposite chair. He was just about to say "Hi" when a teacher came over, and he snapped his mouth shut again. He hated attracted the attention of any of the officials in the school. He let Kriiv handle it, then glanced over to the girl when the teacher had gone. She looked furious, he thought.
He stood up again and made his way over to Kriivthi. 'You both alright?' He murmured. 'I saw the way you reacted when Aur was hurt.'
Reg felt heavily annoyed when the girl still chose to keep her mouth shut, which he made evident through a loud, exasperated sigh. The only thing hinting at the girl's prior motive was due to a smile creeping across her face upon seeing the uplifted lighter. The look lightening her face at least indicated that the girl had some sort of interest in the object itself.
"I don't know what's interesting you so much about this," Reg scoffed irritably. He leaned forward enough to lightly tap the item of interest against the young teen's forehead, a light form of payback for it smacking his face earlier, before tossing the empty lighter into the girl's lap. "But it's useless now, anyhow."
"The Gyptians still think that Daemons are sacred creatures, gifts from the Gods to represent our souls on Earth. So of course my family welcomed Heru when he showed up." Violeta told Coronach, gesturing to the Daemon as they stopped at a bench and sat down.
"It's true! They had a huge festival for Violeta's birthday when I showed up! I'll be honest, I was a little embarrassed. Most of the time, I was chased off for being a Daemon." Heru chimed in, settling on Violeta's lap while they ate the bread her Mom made
Unfortunately, Roku doesnt stick around long enough to heard the very important last part.
The minute Reg got too close, Roki reached out with lightning fast reflect, and snatched the lightning away from the older teen hand like snake strike its prey while simultaneously grabbed the food with her other hand. And break into the sprint. Snickering along the way. She doesnt go very far. Only round up to corner where there're not many people there and she sat down, stuffing her face with food and inspect her steal. Yagi was already there waiting, looking at the lighter in her hand too with mild interest but Roku paid him no mind.
Triumphantly, She tried to light it only to hear a resounded click and not thing happened. She tried again, click click click click, growing more frustrated each time. She has been trying to steal the empty lighter the entire time!? Finally have enough, she stood up at full height and throw the lighter away as far as possible in anger, before sitting back down with a huff. Yagi was on the floor, laughing.
"Maybe you should start making me shrines," Aligerous smirked haughtily to Coronach
"If I do you'd get a bigger head than usual." the girl rolled her eyes, pushing her fox formed Dæmon away playfully. She glanced up to see some sort of fight a little ways away, but chose to ignore it. Let them get in trouble, hay maybe she'll be sent home for 'safety' or something.
'Fine,' Sika muttered, burying his beak under Jach's arm.
'He's gonna sulk,' Jach said. Then to Sika he said: 'Look, I know you were trying to help, but getting into a fight is dangerous. We could have got detention.' He spat the last word with disgust. Detention was torture to them both. Soooooooo mind numbing.
'Oh, where's she going?' He murmured when the girl made a run for it.
Violeta had to giggle at Aligerous's joke about the shrines.
"We don't exactly build shrines to Daemons, but to the spirits of our ancestors. We used to believe that Daemons helped guide the souls of their hosts to the afterlife. Some still do actually and think that Daemons will still do that even if they aren't attached to a human." Violeta told Coronach, glancing over at what looked like a fight starting. She couldn't help rolling her eyes at these Westerners and their antics.
"It's true, we Daemons have similar legends. Well, those of us with Ancestors that used to bond to Gyptians and similar tribes anyways." Heru chimed in, shifting to his burrowing owl form and settling on Violeta's lap to eat one of the buns she had
Coronach just nodded at that, she didn't necessarily believe daemons were spirits, nor did she believe they were guiders of the afterlife. If that was the case, Aligerous would have taken her away a long time ago, but it was still interesting to hear about.
"Hmm, I wish that was true-but then again ravens are very ominous." Aligerous purred, though he currently was in his fox form still. He finished his cheerios and gave a frown, but he put the foam bowl in Coronach's bag, shuffling other supplies to make room and not squish the bowl, probably for later projects.
"Is that why you chose a Raven as one of your three forms? I know Heru chose his three forms because of what was sacred to my people." Violeta asked Aligerous, geuinely curious about that. The Silk Moth, Burrowing Owl and Hawk were all sacred to her people, so that was why Heru chose those for his three forms when he first bonded with her. He'd originally been a Jackal when he first arrived, but then he dropped that form for the three he had now.
"True story. Took me about a month to drop my old jackal form. Personally, I prefer being able to fly. It's fun! Just wish I could get big enough to take Violeta up with me." Heru allowed, wishing he could turn into something large like a dragon, but those were mythical creatures and no Daemon had ever been able to turn into one. So that was out of the question anyways.
"Actually, a raven was my form before I met Coronach." Aligerous sighed "I always loved to fly, and ravens are extremely underrated, but it was a little bit after I found my fox form, and then a horse which I really wanted to share with her."
"You know, Gyptians often trade horses for other tribes. I could teach you how to ride if you want. We have some horses right now back at the camp. We won't be leaving any time soon, so Mom enrolled me here. We have friends who are breeders after all." Violeta offered, jerking back at the direction of the Threta River, where her family had made camp.
"It's true! We've got Conomera, Akhal Teke, Blazers, Azteca and a few other breeds." Heru chimed in, wondering what breed Aligerous turned into.
"So what breed do you use as your animal form? Would you mind showing us?" Violeta asked, voicing her Daemon's question aloud
"No problem," Aligerous hopped off the table and found a little bit of an open area before he shifted to a lovely black stallion thoroughbred. "I don't do saddles, I don't do trading and if you even think about it i'm gonna bite you." Aligerous snapped playfully at Coronach, who rolled her eyes.
"I couldn't get rid of you even if I tried." she pushed his face away when he came over to nuzzle her. she looked to Violeta "Our first ride outside our little hiding place is why i'm here,"
"Gosh you say it like we're in prison."
"I mean it's not too far off. But it's also the first time I really felt the WONDERS of hearing broekn bones snap together." she wrinkled her nose, the memory was not a fond one at the end
"Yeah, I'll need to get one," Reg sighed, the comment followed by a disgruntled red panda murmuring under her breath. Corsen struggled out of the young man's arm, landing lightly on the courtyard ground. Reg remembered that Kriivthi had mentioned having lived at the school for a few months over the Summer. "Know any nearby stores that may sell some? Even a match pack will do at this point."
"I will only allow a metal one that's refillable," Corsen dictated, watching in distaste as the same lighter as before was flung back onto the ground across the outside gathering space. "Those disposable ones are even more horrible."
The small red creature padded towards the discarded lighter, taking the small capsule into her mouth and bringing it to Reg's feet. He silently knew Corsen was waiting for him to properly discard of it and didn't hide rolling his eyes while he leaned down to gather it up.

The man has the face of the lion. or what Roku thought the lion's like. With the bead and hair closely resemblence a lion mane and the eyes sharp piercing and hungry like a predator behind the pair of glasses.
"In this file contented all your past, the stuff you might want to get rid of...or even something you yourself didn't know and want to do more. It will be yours to do as you please, IF you both remain and do well in this school. That's what the school is for, right? To educate. Maybe you'll learn something by the end of this.
"Why would I want to keep you around? Well those idiots are both right and wrong on a few things; You don't exist, you are a nobody or at least seems to be. It would be as easy to dicard you but that would be a waste of resource in my opinion. A nobody like you can be made and mold into practically anything. we can raise and made example out of you. The part where they are wrong? is that you are somebody. or used to be. It's the best of both world in my opinion."
--------------------------------------------
Roku felt herself sliding down from the wall she leaned on. She's sombered up after the adrenaline rush and frankly, she's bored. She didn't make any move when the small red animal reappear the retrived the lighter she threw away. Now that's it nor the food is her current fixation then she is left with nothing much to do. In the end, her hands wander and ended up terrorizing the grass again by ripping them apart, absent mindly.
So that man has tied her into this school on top of her having to find the escape route herself, or perhaps that's task has always been not too challenging to begin with it's just that she can't commit fully to the idea of leaving when it's down time like this. Maybe Yagi was right in someway that she might fair better in here than the outside world, however fish out of water she is.
speaking of Yagi, where is her? The Tasmanian Devil Daemon is no longer by her side anymore even when she herself is shrouded by the shadow casted by the wall. It's peaceful here, Roku doesn't feel the need to look for Yagi, with how he treat her, maybe this is better.
-------------------------------------------
Yagi wandered. it's rare he'd have any other motive outside of harrassing Roku. But strangly, something else caught his attention today. He couldn't pinpoint exactly where or what it is but he's been hearing whispers amoung daemons. About the certain someone. If the rumor is true. Yagi needs to quickly make sure if they--if he would be a threat or not, but Yagi doubt they'd be friends. He slipped into the shadow in his search.
'Hello, Herch,' Jach sighed. Aaaaaaaand there was the relative peace shattered. He returned to his chair and crunched on the last of the food on his plate. 'What song was that?
Sika struggled from Jach's arms and flew down to perch on the wolf's head. 'What's up?' He asked, picking at the fur.
(Sorry for it being short...)
Lorelai’s shoulders tensed up as she heard the faint thudding of a boosted base. She instantly knew exactly who it was, her expression soaring ever so slightly.
“Oh, no.” Michael whispered. “Girl, we gotta retreat. Come on.” He reached out, grabbing her arm.
Lorelai pulled away, glaring slightly. “No. I can handle that nuisance.”
“No, sweetie. You can’t.” Michael cooed.
“Oh, go suck a walnut.” Lila retorted.
Serena looked like she had something to say but was unable to get it out when the courtyard doors burst open and out trapised a ginger-haired nuisance with a mischievous twinkle in his emerald gaze.
The annoyance stampeded across the courtyard, singing at the top of his lungs as he disturbed the first-years, startling quite a few of them. After making a rather unnecessarily dramatic leap from a table, their eyes connected.
‘Hel. No.’ Lorelai mouthed at him.
Completely unperturbed, he sauntered over to her.
"And oh! I gotta go! I gotta make somebody my foe, cause I'm just a lonely man." He practically yelled.
Folding her arms, Lorelai rolled her eyes, unable to cease the festering resentment that rose within her.
She used to love to sing. She would sing to anyone who would listen. And now, like some archaic curse, she could no longer sing for others. Not like she had. Not like she used to.
Still, she and Herschell used to perform together. She couldn’t sing with him unless he had earplugs in but they found ways to make it work. A part of her sorely missed that. Of course, her expression gave none of this away.
She continued to eye the boy as he danced off, causing quite the scene as he leapt onto a nearby stand, plucking some pencils up as if they were a microphone. He had to be wrestled off by a teacher.
Not dissuaded in the slightest, Herschel grooved his way over to the food, tossing his daemon, Maylandi, a few bagels before finally settling himself down at a table with a few others.
Azul, as always, was no where to be seen. Her daemon much preferred to keep his distance, only intefereing if he deemed it needed.
Lorelai tilted her head as she watched one of the tablemates literally vanish, blipping out before he was quickly forcefully grabbed. A ghostly apparition of his form materialized, looking quite flustered.
‘Aww, he’s shy.’ Lorelai cooed patronizingly mentally.
How a kid like that ended up friends with someone like Herschell was beyond her entirely.
“I am going to talk to them.” Lorelai hummed.
“Don’t you dare.” Serena said.
“Yeah. last time you did that, we had to stop you from bashing his brains out.” Michael warned.
Lorelai scoffed. “Don’t be so dramatic.”
She paid no heed to her friend as she dismissed them and strolled over. Her hips swaying with each cat-like motion. She approached from behind, giggling softly to alert them of her presence.
“Oooh, carrot-top~” She purred flirtatiously, using her favoured nickname for Herschell, and one she used to speak with affection. “Horrendously out of key, as always.” She cooed as she perched herself on top of the table, crossing one leg over the other. It was a bit harsh. He was actually quite the decent musician. Not that Lila would ever admit such things.
She briefly surveyed the table before returning her attention to the ginger. “I’ve always told you to pull your pants up. If you keep wearing them at your ankles like that you might... trip.”
Sheens of purple hair fell to the side, rolling in ripples down her back as she leaned towards Herschell, emphasizing the last word, her breath ghosting over his cheek. Pulling back, she returned her gaze towards the rest of the group. “Who are your friends?”
Violeta examined the horse form of Aligerous. She had to admit, she was impressed. The breeders that they were transporting right now would be jealous.
"Now, I will admit, I barely know enough to keep my seat on a horse, but I can tell you that Aligerous is a fine specimen of Thoroughbred. They're great speed and long distance animals. I actually learned how to ride on one myself." Violeta commented, Heru nodding in agreement from his perch on her shoulder.
"Yeah, the breeders would be jealous! That's for sure. How do you keep your coat so shiny?" Heru asked, doing a little bird hop to shift his position on his human's shoulder. He'd told her that it was rude to touch another person's Daemon after all. He was glad she respected that
Lorelai giggled again as Herschell pulled away from her, seemingly avoiding eyecontact.
In her defence, he was the one who started it by approaching her during his little musical number. And she was never one to give up the bait.
"You know...." Herschell mumbled rathed unhelpfully.
"Yes, I meant casper over there." Lila was about to point in the direction of the appiration, but the boy had vanished entirely. She sighed.
Herschell's face lit up with a teasing smile. "That's probably the nicest thing you've said to me in.. how long has it been since? And come on, it's not like you didn't like my clothes this low before."
"Oh, hun." Lorelai laughed, a cheery tune that spilled from her chest. Her tone dropped to a hushed whisper as she once again leaned closer to him, her lips brushing against his ear. "I liked them on the floor." She playfully poked Herschell on the nose before returning her attentions to the rest of the group.
"My name is Lorelai, for those of you who aren't aware. But please call me Lila. Lorelai sounds far too formal." She trailed off briefly, guaging everyone's expressions. "Ah, don't worry, I promise I don't bite.... much." She giggled coyly, her tounge licking across her lips.
Azul was hanging out in a near by tree, hidden deep within the foliage as he fluttered his iridescent wings. Wiggling his anntena in the air, he sensed for the vibrations and changes in the air around him, alert for danger.
Roku jumped at the sudden loud artificial sound follow by a sound of a singing teen. She turned to look at the offending sound and saw the owner of the noise jumping from groups to groups. Don't come here, don't come closer! She growled, not unlike cats being threaten with water. Luckily, the nuisance seemed to find his target in the group that attacked her. She frowned, That group spell trouble. She has half a mind to follow them around to gather info or payback but after the attack she had enough of them for now and instead decided to retreat into the shadow, to some other part of the school she has yet to explore.
-----------------------------------------------------
the foliage that provide Azul's cover also provide a nice shade of shadow. Perhaps the old daemon with a lot of experience would have foreseen this coming or perhaps he couldn't but from behind, Yagi was seemingly seeping out of the shadow, materialize fully and landded on the branches.
"Well I'll be darn. It really is you." The Tasmanian Devil said "You reek of a geezer smell"
The two has never met before. But to Yagi the story of the particular Daemon is like a bogey man to the young street daemons, some listen to the tale with awe and inspiration while others listen to it in fear and dread. Yagi hasn't decided on his stand yet but suffice to say this daemon is...an interesting discovery.
Azul felt it almost instantly. His sensitive antenna picked up the slightest change in the air, and his small feet felt the vibrations of a larger creature. He tasted the earthy tones of the wood beneath him with his feet, detecting the chemical changes within the bark of the tree. It did not seem to recognize this new creature as a threat.
Trusting the experience of the tree on which he perched, Azul remained stagnant, waiting the newcomer to reveal itself.
"Well I'll be darn. It really is you." The dæmon appeared forth from the shadows in the form of a Tasmanian Devil. "You reek of a geezer smell."
Azul simply turned his head, gazing at the marsupial serenely. It was not often anymore that he was recognized. After all, this stories had become legend. A legend a lot of dæmons chose not to believe. Besides, most of them thought him to be dead. He did a pretty good job at setting up a tiger to fall in his place.
It has been a good century since he had last visited that portion of the world. But he was somewhat knowledgeable of the devil population there. For one thing, the Tasmanian devil population was one of the only two species in the world known to possess a contagious cancer that could transmit between devils.
A darker part of him stirred, musing quietly if that cancer would work on this dæmon if he was in this Tasmanian Devil form.
Quickly shutting those thoughts down, Azul merely waved his antenna at the dæmon in greeting but did not speak to him. He turned away from the animal, returning his gaze to the courtyard once more. While it was a risky move, it demonstrated that Azul in no way felt threatened by the Tasmanian Devil.
One of the perks of being an insect was the sensitivity. It was incredibly advanced and part of the reason why flies often know you are coming to swat them long before you actually do. As if they can see the future. A butterflies antenna were capable of sensing minute changes in the wind, and could even tell the time of day by using sensitive light-receptors within their club-like tips. If this Tasmanian Devil made any kind of movement, Azul would know.
Yagi was slightly taken aback with lack of responce but he wont let it deterd him.
"Fine, I can do the talking" He said, pacing a little until he settled down on a sitting position. "You are like a legend among us street kids. I think a bunch of us took your ideal to the heart of you know, down with bonding humanity, living freely and causing chaos and all that. There are bets going on if you are still alive. Some said you would come back to start another war yourself, some said you betrayed your own kind or even actively hunting down the naughty daemons. Some said you've gone soft, bonding with a human and having new fancy names, is that what you prefer to go by now?" He grinned widely and almost innocently but in a way that screaming gotcha! at Azul.
"Fine, I can do the talking" The other Dæmon concluded after a few moments.
While Azul was not looking at him, his delicate frame felt the trembles the larger animal created as he paced back and forth before finally settling down. Azul could track his movements but still gave no indication or acknowledgment to the younger dæmon.
The Tasmanian Devil began his little tangent. Some said you've gone soft, bonding with a human and having new fancy names, is that what you prefer to go by now?"
Azul could tell from the tone of the annoyance's voice that the dæmon was under the impression he was messing with Azul or had somehow gained the upperhand.
Azul did not acknowledge this as remained serenly upon the branch.
It did pain him greatly to hear that a few dæmons had followed in past philsosophy, idolizing his horrific legends as something to aspire to.
Once again, that darker part within him was whispering softly, suggesting excessively grusome ideas.
Azul, as usual ignored it.
He was silent for a long time, almost like he was not going to repond again. And then finally, after many moments, he spoke. "I never started the war. That was a fate the humans brought upon themselves. I was just a player in a bloody, bloody game." He did not bother to look away from the courtyard or face the dæmon he was speaking to. His voice was hoarse and cracked, deep and scaly from long periods of not using it. The gritty aspect of it was unbeoming of a small blue butterfly, and also slightly intimidating. His tone gave no indication of any emotional attachment, he stated it simply and plainly, as though he were stating a mere fact.
He no longer held it within his old heart to get riled up over trivial topics and prying conversationalists.
"All of that is rather ironic, coming from you, Yagi." Azul chuckled darkly after another long pause, reflecting upon the Tasmanian Devil's statement about bonding and going soft.
He had been waiting in the courtyard for wuite some time, observing everyone and everything. He knew about Roku. He had been watching everything.
((EDIT: Made some dialouge changes. Let me know if Yagi's name was never said yet because then Azul would have no way of knowing it and I can edit this))
"Thank you, I think it's the lack of having to hide form haters that really brings out the shine." Aligerous laughed, tossing his head. Coronach rolled her eyes, smiling at her Daemon's attention bringing beauty. She once suggested they could learn to do fur clippings, but Aligerous refused- but did like the idea of having his coat look different.
Coronach opened her mouth to ask something else before almost falling off her seat at a random dude, who started dancing breiefly on their table. It scared the frick out of her as he also was singing without a care in the world. Aligerous reared back a bit, startled by the sudden thud when the stranger's boots hit the table, but when the kid went off Aligerous started nodding his head to the beat.
"Not bad." He purred watching him go off to bother others
((Wait imma add it real fast, I forgot about Hershell dancing XD))
'Ooo.' Jach made a mental note to search for the song later on, then pushed the iPod back to Herch. 'Have you heard of--' He was interrupted by a young lady perching on the table and murmuring to the ginger. He immedietely took a dislike to her and shrank back in his chair, trying to make himself seem small and invisible. He had seen her around, and by the looks of what he'd seen and heard she did not bode well.
Sika smiled, or smiled as best a crow could, leaned down and snatched some of the bagel the wolf was holding. He flew up and out of reach, quietly cackling his laughter.
(Oops. Ignore this.))
"Yeah, I bet you did."
Lorelai scoffed a bit at that comment, pressing her hand over her mouth to smother a laugh. She side-eyed Herschell with an incredulous expressionn as if to say 'look who's talking'. Shaking her head a bit, she decided to ignore her ex.
The second newcomer shrunk away from Lorelai, causing the woman to frown.
He was about her age, his hair was dark which deeply juxstaposed his pale skin.
"Hey, what's wrong?" An expression of genuine concern flickered across her face, her tone taking on a soft and motherly drawl. "You have nothing to fear from me." She tilted her head with a pleasant smile. "Unless you hurt someone I love. But you're too smart to do that, aren't you?" She cooed, reaching over to Jach, trailing her fingers over his cheek. Retracting her arm with a giggle. "Nah, I am just playing. I promise." She crossed herself, drawing her index finger across her chest. "I'm a friend."
It was well known among the older students that Lila would do anything for those close to her- especially her friends who she protected like a mother bear.
"Wow, great. Who decided to build this place in the middle of nowhe-" Reg could barely finish his griping before he began to hear music gradually increasing in volume. Someone with a portable speaker emerged from the castle-like building into the courtyard, the music only growing louder along with them.
Reg remained silent while the unknown individual bounced around the courtyard, interacting with various people and terrorizing the outdoor furniture by jumping atop various pieces. The teen's voice joining in, the fellow ginger seemed to be hosting an improvised concert for the surrounding gathered groups. The entire thing was met with various reactions; Reg's own was mostly neutral, neither impressed nor very annoyed.
After the lighter-haired redhead, Herschell, as Kriivthi had introduced him as, ceased the song, he conversed some with Kriivthi and Jach, of whom all seemed to know each other rather well.
However, another figure waltzed up to the group next. Reg had to force himself not to stare as a beautiful purple-haired girl sauntered over to the table where Herschell sat. The two exchanged some words, some for the others to hear, then some hushed ones only between the duo. Despite not hearing the whispered words from where he stood, there was a clear tension between the two, though he wasn't interested in finding out the relation right then.
"Reg," The word was the only thing Reginald felt inclined to respond with after Lorelai introduced herself as Lila to the group. Instead, Reg zeroed in on the rambunctious redhead.
"I hear you have lighters," Reg got straight to the point. "How much to get me one?"
Aurvang glided around the courtyard, staying fairly above the peoples heads and inspecting the behaviours of everyone else. The partially dissipated crowd from the falling girl had redirected their attention to some commotion going on near the front of the courtyard. A ginger bullying a younger girl for what appears to be a bow, the action caused Aurvang's eyes to narrow and the purple haired girl that helped him out of trouble didn't appeal to the bat either. Mentally noting to avoid that group like the plague for later in the future. His attention went to where the girl fell down, not much of a trace left save for a few spots of blood, and the girl who fell was standing tall and chatting with another girl a few feet away. The dæmon made another mental note to most certainly avoid that one. Deciding his exploring was done, he folded a wing and spun around to return to Kriivthi. Getting side tracked by Sika highstepping over to something, flickering his fur until he was invisible and diving down to land behind the crow. Revealing himself again and then proceeded to mimic the crow's actions step for step, jumping around and also scaring the teen the crow targeted for the fun of it.
Kriivthi tilted his head and blankly blinked at the sudden flying lighter, vaguely looking around the table for the source of the action before letting out a small laugh. Which he covered with his hand and swallowed back the amusment. Then watched as the seemingly angry red panda raced off somewhere.
"Well... that was something..." he cooed.
