Choosing An Ice-Type Dragon?

Hi there! I'm still relatively new to this game (Though I have played it on facebook years ago, but quit due to how frustrating loading times were).

 

I currently have enough gems to either purchase a titan upgrade, a new dragon, or supplement my Ruffrunner snoggletog cookie quests (I currently have 55 viking cookies and 97 toothless cookies, with 8 days left for the event).

 

In my situation, I am in most need of an ice-type dragon that I can use in dragon tactics (so groncicle is sadly not helpful, though I love my cherry sherbet-colored dragon. I'm sorry Coolidge). A fairly good racing/fast ice dragon is optional, as I've got two fantastic racing dragons already that can handle most opponents (Not furies. I am not a 3 month member). 

 

Would you guys please suggest me an ice dragon for my needs? Thank you so much for any help! :D

If you're wanting one for DT I suggest the Woolly Howl. It has long range attacks and can do some pretty good damage, especially when they're level 50. With practice they can also be good racing dragons. They're turn rate isn't very good but if you practice with them they can be pretty good racing dragons. I've heard Shivertooths are also good racing dragons(I haven't raced on mine in a while so I can't speak from experience) but I don't think you can use Shivertooths in DT.

Long-range? That's perfect! My viking's been acting as an ice-dragon stand in (So it can be a bit frustrating in terms of range). I really love titan wooly howls as well with their antlers.

I've raced against a titan wooly howl though, and surpassed them. I'm more for agile dragons with excellent maneuverability vs speed, but learning to race with each dragon species is what makes it fun. I'll be sure to try the wooly in racing out!

What about the other strike class ice dragon, snow wraith? How does it fare against the wooly howl?

I haven't used my Snow Wraith in DT yet but according to the SoD wiki it has long range attacks as well. I'm unsure how much damage it does though.

Snow Wraiths are AMAZING in DT. When lvl 50, they do 940 damage on weak attack (slows opponents movement by 2) and 1998 damage on second attack (10% chance to stun). They have camouflage as a special ability in DT. I used to race with them and the turn rate is bad. All of the attacks are long range but the snow wraith at lvl 50 only has 1600 health. The weak attack boosted against poison enemies is 1410 and the strong one is I forgot. Use your snow wraith like a sniper and hit enemies from a long distance. Snow Wraiths sre one of the best at DT.

Snow wraiths are basically glass sniper cannons then? But that's not gonna be a problem. They can't hit you if you knock them out first XD

Update: I've chose my new ice dragon (And is very happy!)

Hi again! Thank you guys for the valuable information about ice dragons! I've decided to go get myself a wooly howl over the snow wraith because... I admit I'm a tad jealous of all those fury-like dragons. 

 

I tried racing with my new Wooly. Though they have impressive speed, HPowers have said, woolies have some issues with maneuverability (I found myself crashing once or twice on walls, even though I know the race courses well). I haven't tried her yet in DT, but as soon as she hits level 10 I will! I'm also about to test her in ship events if she fares well with gronkles and hobgobblers. ( ;w;)/ Thank you all again so much!

 

Also, I'll just put it here but NO ONE have told me woolies have such beautiful eyes? Like oh my gosh?

They have eyelashes???

Happy to help! :) Woolly Howls are one of my favorite in game dragons. I love the colors you chose for her. She's very pretty and I agree about their eyes. I love their purple eyes.
