It's either you or Shadow...

((I was doing the same, waiting for someone else to hop in... I'm not really doing much besides walking, and I thought Inna's question was directed at you. I don't know anything... XD))

((Ah, yeah...not really much I'm doing either. Just walking/following along. ^^; I could figure something out, if I must))

Hm...

((I think Inna's question was directed toward me as well. I'll make a quick post in response, but don't expect anything grand or long. I'm kinda distracted making an icon for a buddy of mine for a different site. OTL))

Totally understandable.

((I don't think it's possible to create a long, grandiose reply for a situation like that... XD Anyway, you're fine. I would've jumped in already, but I thought it might be inappropriate when I'm not directly part of the conversation.))

Uh...

((I suppose you're right on that one, Joshinator. I'm fine with anybody jumping in and answering questions since I don't want this whole thing revolving around me anyway. <_<;;))

"Well, I don't know much

"Well, I don't know much about Whispering Deaths and to be fair I saw this Owlient guy- I mean- girl, maybe once in my life in the hatchery as a baby, but I guess I was too worried about my own problems at that moment!" Inna said and continued on. "But I do belive that the dragons from the same kind could build a better friendship, after all: they do have more less same abilities and communication..." The girl finished and heard that Rosethorn's hissing had stopped.

Thank Thor, I belive that she would have caused even more attention than Sharksneeze. Inna thought and waited for someone's answer.

((Just a thing- Rosethorn hisses instead of... whatever she's supposed to do. And she rarely roars...))

One of my hobbies? Resurrection of threads... XP

((Well, uh, sorry guys… I got a little hung up in the big RP, or I would’ve posted earlier. Do you all think we should put this thread out to pasture, or keep going and hang out at the geysers? I’ve really enjoyed this so far… Also, this is in reply to Mudslide’s post on November 12, back on the previous page.))

“Huh, that’s interesting. I guess it makes sense, because Whispering Deaths don’t exactly seem like the most social dragons anyway.” Hammerstein glanced at the aquamarine-highlighted beast slithering alongside Mudslide. “It just seems a little weird to me, because Mace was always playing with other dragons - for that matter, I had to watch him constantly to keep him from running off with another trainer!” He looked to the other side at his Monstrous Nightmare with a teasing smirk, causing the dragon to fly off with a snort and perch atop a tree some distance ahead. As the small group approached the Wilderness Hot Springs, he let slip a sigh of relief - never had he so looked forward to being clean, and after a day like this the steaming pools of water seemed incredibly inviting.

((Short post is short. For lack of any really good ideas to get the story going again.))

Mudslide cocked her head to the left as she looked over to Inna, clearly interested in what the other girl had to say about this Owlient Whispering Death. And while she did think Inna had a point, there wasn't much Mudslide could do or say to persuade Sharksneeze that not all dragons were cut from the same cloth. "I dunno..." Mudslide began and kicked at a small rock as she walked alongside the taller girl, "Shark's gonna need some t'ahme be'fer he's up t'ah meet'n 'ther dragons." Which was true given the way Sharksneeze seemed disinterested in the subject matter.

Truth be told, the Whispering Death had no idea what the other girl was yammering on about. The winged basilisk was still learning the Norse language and also had the slight disadvantage of having Mudslide for a rider. And by that we're reffering to the young dragon rider's thick accent. Sharksneeze was learning what the brunette's words meant. Problem is, while Mudslide was still speaking in fluent Norse much like the other Vikings around her, the brunette's vocabulary was distinct enough that it was easy to pick out in a crowd. So while Sharksneeze was getting better at understanding what words corresponded with what emotion, action, or idea, the Whispering Death wasn't having an easy time with doing the same for a Viking whose accent was considered perfectly normal in Berk society.

Mudslide glanced over to Hammerstein, dropping her hands back down to her sides as he confessed his own issues raising a baby dragon in a school filled to the brim with the scaled beasts. By the sounds of things, he had fostered a Monsterous Nightmare with the exact opposite issues of her Whispering Death. For some reason it surprised her to the point she stopped walking for a nearly a minute before being literally butted back into reality by Sharksneeze bumping into her from behind.

With a diffident titter, Mudslide resumed her walking pace even as Maceforce took to the trees to sulk after his rider's tease seemed to have miffed him. "Sure is might fickle, ain't he?" she asked to no one in particular. The brunette's chuckle began more genuine at the display of emotion from the creature before realizing they had reached their destination; the geysers.

Sharksneeze, for his part, didn't look entirely thrilled at the idea of taking a bath, which greatly contrasted his young rider in her eagerness to not feel like the namesake (for once). The Whispeering Death huffed down at his rider as she flopped down onto the dirt and started to pull her boots right off. Mudslide pulled her helmet off and shook her head, already looking forward to at least having  clean headgear as she intended to scrub it first.

Sharksneeze, on the other hand, seemed a bit disappointed that Mudslide wasn't pulling out her fishing rod and some bait. The dragon gave another dijected chuff at the sight. However the inquisitive dragon seemed to be formulating some plans of his own even as Mudslide removed her helmet from her cranium.

((Short post on my part as well. I'm up for continuing in her if other people are.))

((W00t!))

Shadow had been keeping herself a slight distance away from the others, listening and watching rather than participating. Truth be told, she was starting to get a bit tired. She had been flying with StormFalcon a lot this morning, and then all the ruckus here happened... the hot springs were certainly looking welcome.

As Mudslide prepared to jump in, Shadow simply dropped her knasack, kicked off her boots, and jumped in without another thought. The hot, soothing mineral water immediately improved her mood, and it was already dislodging the grime that had accumulated on her from a certain dragon's maw.

Elsewhere, StormFalcon had been keeping a close eye on his rider and her new friends while remaining at a distance. He wouldn't go back down until Shadow called him. When Maceforge flew to his own perch, though, Storm figured he didn't have to be bored while he waited, and the other Nightmare was a good enough distance away that Storm was sure Shadow wouldn't be mad. With a quick jump and flapping of his wings, he was airborne, climbing up high. He loved doing this. A quick tumble, a downward angle, wings tight to his body, he shot towards Maceforge like an arrow. Just before hitting the other dragon, Storm flared his wings so that the impact was a playful tackle.

"Wanna play some more," he asked, laughing, "They'll be busy after all. Come on, I'll show you my stash of toys."

((Shortness continues. So...I actually had to remind myself that I'm playing me and not my persona, Briarwolf XD

And yeah, Storm's talking in dragon lingo, hence the italics. And the 'toys'....well, I think his definition could use some work. Overgrown, scaly cat-lizard-dog-bird...thing.))

Party time!

((Oh, y'all have no idea how I've missed this thread (actually, you probably do, but whatever). You guys just brightened up my day! ^u^ Not sure how I wound up being such a major character in the big RP, but it kinda soaked up all my spare writing time for a bit there. That said, I find it rather funny that these are probably some of the longest posts any of us make, and we're calling them short... XD))

"Haha, you'd better believe it! Fickle is a good word... Easily distracted, short attention span, snarky attitude and loves to play with other dragons or people - every inch a Monstrous Nightmare, snout to flamboyant tail." Hammerstein chuckled as well at the description of Maceforge - it brought back memories of his baby dragon romping around the house, chasing after butterflies and wrestling his brother's newly-hatched Gronckle. "He doesn't run off so much anymore, though - I can always count on him to be there when I need him." Coming up to the mineral-caked edge of the hot springs and watching the girls take their boots off, Hammerstein decided he'd just as well leave everything on - the sooner all his stuff became un-flammable, the better.

"Ohhhh, that's nice..." He waded into the pool, all clothing and accessories included, and gently sat down in the steaming mineral water. Sinking deeper into the spring, he looked over at the edge of the forest, where his dragon had been gleefully pounced upon by Stormfalcon, and laughed. "Haha, yep. Definitely still a Monstrous Nightmare. Those two make quite a pair, don't you think?"

--------------------------------

Maceforge sat perched on a branch, watching the small group of humans and the large spiky dragon beside them as they approached the pools of water. Well, I think I've had enough Mace for one day. Lucky I didn't warm him up a bit right there... Hearing a whistling sound overhead, he looked up to see a familiar grey-and-tan blur rocketing toward him in an aerial dive. A smile curled up the corners of Maceforge's toothsome mouth as he braced his wing-claws against adjacent branches and prepared to be hit full-force by a party with scales. Bring it on!

Stormfalcon's impact was lessened by the sudden flare of his wings, but it was plenty to knock the orange-and-black dragon out of the treetop and into a clearing. Maceforge found himself rolled over on his back, playfully pinned by the peregrine-colored reptile. Wanna play some more? They'll be busy, after all. Come on, I'll show you my toy stash! Storm clambered off of Maceforge, who quickly righted himself with a big grin. Absolutely - you have a toy stash out here? Lead the way!

((Cool! I'll play along with that. Nice to give our dragons some character development of their own. And yeah, that would be a pretty accurate description of our two Nightmares... overgrown cat-lizard-dog-bird things. XD))

"I'am start'n t'ah t'ink most dragons 're fickle in the'r own way," Mudslide began with a contemplative look. "Ya know... kinda like how Vik'ns 'r stubb'rn."

Mudslide found herself standing at the edge of the spring, unsure of just how to proceed as Hammerstein and Shadow took the initiative and jumped right on in. The brunette had been considering removing her leather torso armor, but no sooner started to undo the straps beneath her left arm before she felt herself being lifted off of the ground. She was unable to surpress a yelp before being flung into the frothy, warm waters. She sank down to her chest, the water having absorbed a lot of the impact, and just sat there looking like she'd just been electrocuted by a Skrill for nearly a minute. It wasn't until Mudslide picked up on the bizarre sound of what was supposed to be laughter from a certain Whispering Death that she snapped out of it, turned around, and nearly fell over again in her endeavors to give Sharksneeze a piece of her water-logged mind.

"What was that f'er!?" she hollered, albeit playfully, at the snickering serpent.

Laughter from a Whispering Death is a strange thing. It sounds more like off-key, thick tree branches being slammed together in hurricane-force winds than someone giggling with mirth. The sound likely originated from the rows of sharp, growing teeth spinning at a casual pace and, due to the distortion of the dragon's mouth as it attempted a toothy smile, the enamal hit against one another in an unnatural fashion.

Mudslide's sudden "temper" didn't last long. She had long grown to love that sound since it wasn't every day that the Whispering Death found something amusing. He was a hard shell to crack and even harder with people he didn't know around to hear his merry chortle.

"Ya'll 'er lucky I'ah loves y'ah, Shark!" she shot back in a mocking attempt to save face. Sharksneeze didn't seem perturbed in the least, garnering him a minor splash of water on his lower belly. Mudslide had originally been aiming for the Whispering Death's face, but she was still rather short in comparison to the dragon and didn't have the force behind her strike against the water's surface to do more than make a small wave against the hulking beast.

Sharksneeze however had never been a fan of water. It came with being from a species that spent much of its time underground. He didn't detest the clear liquid; he merely disliked being wet. The Whispering Death didn't seem fazed by Mudslide's attempts at chastising him, but he did drop his bizarre chuckle in favor of moving a little bit away from the water's edge. That seemed to abate Mudslide as well, but she did miss having her dragon companion close-by.

Doing her best to appear as if she wasn't bothered by the distance, Mudslide sat back down in the spring water just in time to see her helmet floating past her. With a quick florish, the brunette grabbed it and began to scrub the dirt from its iron surface before dunking it underwater. She brought it back up upside down and used it as a bowl of sorts to dump water on her mangy brown hair in an attempt to loosen up the dirt and twigs that had collected in her thick braid. Already the water around her was changing from crystal clear to a murky tan as the earthen materials began seperating from her clothing and hair.

((I'll admit that I've missed it as well. And I still haven't looked into that other RP either. <_<;;))

[Not related with your RP but with the title indeed]

Who's the beast now?;)

Anyway, 8 teeth for the lower jaw and only 2 for the upper one. How could she possibly eat?

[By the way, I'm following this story since the beginning and I hope you'll carry it on: it's fabulous! And now I'll know when you update it;)]

Oh..

((Actually the camera is stuck in my character's head while waiting for a fish... Of course, you may also read that "Wait!" as a surprised expression the game puts on in seeing what it has done.

As I told to Josh elsewhere, you are great storytellers and that comes from the fact that without any particular action or plot you built an exciting story I couldn't take my eyes off. You have my praises and my esteem!))

Nah, that's fine.

((I was kinda kidding anyway. Life has been busy so the wait has been a non-issue, although I could write something up if you don't want me to wait for ya. As long as you post up what you've been drawing. *attempts and fails to look stern* I'm actually imagining right now what I'd be thinking if our little side conversation was interrupted by Mudslide being picked up and thrown into the pool... *chuckle*))

((EDIT: Not to mention that you've got to figure out what kinds of "toys" a Monstrous Nightmare would be stashing in the wilderness. Good luck... O_o))

^^;

((Lol. And part of what I've been working on it already, on deviantArt. It's a webcomic based off my friend's Nuzlocke games. It just started, only 3 prologue pages up. The other thing I'm working on will be up eventually, but it's also not SoD/HTTYD related.. ^^; I've been practicing drawing cats, and have a small project going with some sketches that I'll probably upload to dA, and then hopefully take one or two of them further through the process of inking, colouring, etc.

And good luck with your drawings, Shadow!))
