I couldn't help but laugh when I looked away from my screen for three seconds and turned back to see this.

Okay, maybe "laugh" isn't the right reaction, but still... I was far amused than I should have been.

Yesss, wonky camera 'glitches' (that are pretty much impossible to remove without breaking something else). Love it.

Uhh...hey Sharksneeze... you look a little..er... hungry there... Everything okay buddy? Sharksneeze...? Sh-sharksneeze what are you doing?? Shark-! x.x

Found out the other day that Nightmares are totally hollow! XD

*Hammerstein happens to be walking by*

Whoa, hey! Sharksneeze! Not cool! Spit him out now! *looks at me like, aww, you're no fun...* You're going to have an awful hard time getting salmon without a trainer... (low rumble from behind me) or avoiding getting crispy-fried by Mace, for that matter. *oh, fine...* *spits out ShadowclawFC* Thank you. Now, uh, you may want to go take a bath... I hear gravel and dragon saliva will do quite a number on your skin.

*Turns around to leave, Mace is looking down at him with an impish, dragony smirk* Uh-uh! Don't even THINK about it, pal. I taste like perch and broccoli, and I don't go down easy. I've got a mace, remember? *snort* Come on, let's head back to class. And no funny business. *Mace licks Hammerstein's hair* HEY! That qualifies as funny business, buster! Now I need a bath too... This stuff's flammable! *Mace acts like he's about to sneeze* Oh, nuts...

Er, Sharksneeze is Mud's dragon, but um... yeah. Still hilarious.

And yes, Apparently all dragons are hollow, but Nightmare especially so. -thinks of the Thunder Run glitch that showed half the Nightmare- heh, yep.

Whoops, wrong trainer...

That's what I get for RPing after midnight. XD You must've walked by at the wrong time then. Conveniently, I can't edit the post now...

Wait a sec... Hey, Sharkie! Don't you try and go slither off to a hole just yet. Aren't you forgetting someone? Like, maybe, Mudslide? I see a lump there, and it ain't salmon-shaped! Don't make me get Mace involved! ... Uh, Mace? Where'd you go, buddy? *silence* Mace? *more silence* MACEFORGE? *Sharksneeze turns around and looks at me deviously* Oh, this can't be good...

Laughing so hard... I can't breathe...

I love how you guys are personifying my dragon as a cannibal when he's usually just a big baby. XD

[/looks behind her] What? It's true!

Sharksneeze snorts, looking non-too pleased.

No, you aren't EATING anyone.

Sharksneeze leans over and licks ShadowClaw.

Oh great... No eating people!

Sharksneeze looks over at Maceforce menacingly.

OR DRAGONS! [/shakes a fist]

I know right? I cracked up just reading it again!

Hammerstein blinked, surprised to suddenly not find himself inside a Whispering Death, and even more surprised to see Mudslide sitting on the ground in a pile of wet gravel and, well... mud. "Thank you for letting him out, Sharksneeze. You know, you two are lucky to be alive... With those six rotating rows of wicked-sharp teeth, you'd stand a better chance against an angry meat grinder!"

So why didn't Sharksneeze just -

"Wait a sec, that's it! Sharksneeze wasn't actually trying to eat you guys, he just wanted some attention! Aww... Is that it, Sharkie? You just want someone to play with?" *nods* "Well, that's easy to fix... but you don't have to go eating people to get their attention, you know." *Sharksneeze droops his head apologetically* "But that's ok, you can play with Mace!" *both dragons whip their heads around with an indignant snort and glare at me* "What? Sharksneeze needs a friend, and Maceforge needs to pester somebody his own size once in awhile - did you BOTH just roll your eyes at me? Sheesh..."

((Ok, your turn... XD))

"He can always play with StormFalcon."

*wipes off some mud*

"Assuming Storm doesn't divebomb him. That would probably turn out bad for both of them...

Hang on... Where is Storm-"

Quite suddenly Shadowclaw disappeared, and in her place was a lithe, grey and tan Monstrous Nightmare, who was certainly demonstrating just how much of a nightmare he could be.

"Mmph mm mph!!!" Storm blinked, looking at the ground beneath him and raising up slightly.

"Get off me, you big lump! You can't sit on my shoulders anymore...! x.x"

Whispering Death

Sharksneeze looks back and forth between Maceforce and Stormfalcon. He seems interested in the idea of having a friend of his own species, but is unsure on how to proceed about getting one.

"Aw... Stormfalcon just loves ya!" Mudslide proceeds to laugh at this, until her own Whispering Death begins to curl around her, resting his bulbous, spiked chin on top of her head. "Ya'll 'er get'n too big f'er this, Sneeze!"

Sharksneeze whines before giving off and indignant huff of hot air. He raises his head slightly, but remains curled around his rider to the point only her head can be seen by almost everyone.

Mudslide preceeds to roll her eyes at the childish behavior. "Sheesh... Y'er cute 'n all, but ch'ya can make friends with oth'r dragons too, ya know!"

Sharksneeze releases a low grumble before raising his head a little further. He looked at Stormfalcon with confusion (Why was he sitting ON TOP of his rider? Was that fun?) before glancing over at Maceforce expectantly. The Whispering Death cocked his head to the right, unsure of his to proceed, let alone appear friendly while still keeping an eye on his rider.

OHMYTHOR TOO FUNNY BAHAHAHA TOO FUNNY STAAAAHP!!! *ffffffzzzzzt*

((Oh my gosh, you guys! The mental pictures in this thread are comedy GOLD! XD I don't know how I can keep going; I'm gonna need a grin-ectomy! Stormfalcon's utter obliviousness had me convulsing with laughter! And seriously, Mudslide... a shy, protective and socially awkward Whispering Death? Absolutely brilliant! Makes sense, too - they're kinda the oddballs of the dragon world. Oh, my... How am I supposed to write when I'm constantly giggling every time I check on details from previous posts?))

Hammerstein made a valiant attempt not to burst out laughing, but it was a losing battle. "What is this, Gang-Up-On-Your-Humans Day? *suppressed snicker* I'm sorry, but we are just not having the best day as dragon trainers, are- HEY! PUT ME DOWN!" Hammerstein's good-natured ribbing was abruptly halted when Maceforge, with an ornery grin, picked him up in his mouth. "Seriously?! Mace, put me DOWN!" said a muffled voice attached to comically flailing arms and legs sticking out from between the Nightmare's jaws ((see this for a fabulous visual)). "I won't fit through that scrawny neck of yours anyway! Let me out!" Of course, he knew perfectly well he'd fit just fine, and in fact he had been gutting salmon earlier so there was a distinct sensory temptation, but Maceforge had another idea so he just sat there doing exactly nothing.

To anyone walking by, the scene looked cartoonishly absurd: a tan-and-grey Monstrous Nightmare sitting on top of his prostrate trainer, a 90-foot Whispering Death coiled up like a spring with someone's head peeking out beneath his chin, and a large orangey-tan and black Nightmare with the limbs of a wiry young Viking poking out the sides of his face. Hammerstein continued, "You really are giving new meaning to the term 'Monstrous Nightmare', you know! Great example for Sharksneeze too. Poor thing obviously doesn't even know how to act around other dragons, much less people, and here you are making me look ridiculous!" Still nothing. "Okay, fine. I give. Can we be done with this? You smell like rotten fish, old dragon nip - and leather! What have you been eating?!?" Awkward silence, the only sounds being the chirping of birds and the low rumbling purr of the dragons' breathing.

"What, do you want me to apologize or something?" Maceforge nods, sending Hammerstein's limbs flailing all over the place. "Hey, easy! Okay, to whom? Sharksneeze?" Another nod. "Seriously?" A more forceful nod, this time poking Hammerstein gently with a couple fangs. "Ow! Okay, fine... Sharksneeze, I'm sorry I snapped at you earlier. I didn't mean to scare you or anything, I was just worried about my friends and I was afraid you were going to hurt them," came the muffled apology. "Can I be done now?" Maceforge shakes his head, again gently poking his trainer. "Ow! Geez, was that really necessary? It was wrong to assume that you were nasty, stubborn and mean just because you're a Whispering Death; I know each dragon is different. Okay, can you please put me down now, Mace?" After a short pause, Maceforge gently lowers Hammerstein to the ground, leaving him dripping in highly flammable Nightmare saliva.

"Not to interrupt... but I'm still... a Shadowclaw... sandwich... over here!" When Hammerstein looked over at where Shadowclaw used to be, he once again failed to suppress a chuckle. "Storm, you do know that she's supposed to be on top of you, right? Not the other way around? You're a bit heavy - she can't fly very well with you on her back." Stormfalcon blinked, looked down at the ground, and gently lifted himself up to let Shadowclaw, still covered in mud, crawl out from underneath him. "Now that that's over... let's go take a hot bath in the Wilderness Geysers, guys. You two look like mud pies, and I'm a walking bonfire waiting to happen. The dragons can play while we get cleaned up."

((Wow, that was longer than it probably needed to be... but you know how it goes, these things sort of write themselves! ;-P You all don't mind that I RPed your dragons and characters a bit, do you? Hopefully Sharksneeze heard my muffled apology... I really feel for the poor guy. Sounds like he's pretty lonely and reclusive... and currently still wrapped around his trainer. Your move, Mudslide! XD))

I think it may be my fault this turned into a rp...lol

((No no, you're good. And in all technicality it's my move. Also, I happen to be playing me and Storm rather than my Viking...ah well. We're pretty much the same anyway.))

Shadow got wiped the mud off the front of her shirt, which of course did nothing more than smooth it down to a more uniform brown-muck coating.

"I'm not sure if the dragons quite understand what 'play' means," she said, glaring at Stormfalcon before turning back to Hammerstein, "But sure, I think this big scaly puppy may have sprained my back." She felt a nudge from behind, and looked back to see Storm acting very apologetic.

"Oh, fine," she told him, "I forgive you. Just don't do that again. Now, shoo, go play with the others. I bet Sharksneeze is great at hide'n'seek!"

Well, technically...

((According to her last post, Sharksneeze was still protectively coiled around Mudslide, so... not quite sure where that leaves us. But yes, thank you for turning this into a roleplay - I'm having an absolute blast! \m/ (|d^_^b|) \m/ ))

"Well, Mace, what are you waiting for? Go play! Storm's already halfway to the beach... bet you can't catch up!" Maceforge happily bounded off after Stormfalcon, excited to have another Nightmare to play with. "Haha, they really are like puppies sometimes, aren't they? Well, let's head out to the Geysers. Mudslide, you coming?" As Hammerstein looked back over his shoulder, he saw that Sharksneeze, though loosening up a bit, was still wrapped around his owner. "You can come too if you want, Sharkie. Don't know how much you like water, but there's plenty of open space to dig around in."

NO WAY!!!

Sweet baby Thor in a thunderstorm, that's just fabulous! XDDDD I literally cannot stop laughing now... I'd better stay off the game for a bit, or I'm gonna get a faceful of Maceforge! *uncontrollable snickering* It's a SHADOWCLAW SANDWICH! BAHAHAHAAAH!!! Oh, that's rich...

Still laughing uncontrollably. Thank you for the diaphragm surgery I'm going to need now...

What I want to see...

is Sharksneeze curled up around Mudslide! I know the game won't do that, but I would positively hideof laughter if that picture suddenly appeared in this thread. Somebody needs to do a sketch of this scenario, pronto! XD

And I just checked... Unfortunately, the Nightmare's pose places his chin about a foot above Hammerstein's head. :'C

I may...may...just sketch that. I think I can manage a Whispering Death.

And huh... What about when the Nightmare lays down? Might be a little tough to manage a shot at the right time, but if you could catch it as the head is coming down with Hammer(Mace, right?) and Maceforge in just the right positions... -shrug-

Sharksneeze cocked his head further to the right as he witnessed the odd display of "affection" between rider and Monsterous Nightmare before quickly raising his head further. He peered down at his own rider who was, for lack of better terms, not liking the look in his white eyes.

"Uh... Sneeze? What'ver y'er t'ink'n, I'm already aga'nst it!" Mudslide attempted to flail and shove the spiked coils away from her, but to no avail. They wouldn't budge and she was wary of potentially hurting the dragon physically, let alone his feelings. She was well aware that he was already perplexed about dragon interactions. And, outside of herself, the Whispering Death wasn't even sure how to deal with humans. He'd been quite content to just stay on their farm and pretend they didn't attend an academy full of other humans and their dragon companions.

With a huff, Mudslide made a move to begin climbing over the dragon's coils. However she stopped herself once she caught sight of Hammerstein and his current predicament with Maceforce. Without really meaning to, she began to snicker which quickly evolved into full-blown laughter. She fell back into the mess of coils and vanished from sight, the only indication she was still alive being her whoops of laughter and the occasion snort as she valiantly tried to regain control (and failed).

It wasn't until Hammer's yelling began to calm that she regained her composure. Mudslide wiped a tear from her eye and grabbed used the spikes on the coils to haul herself up to peek over the pile at the other Vikings. And good timing too. She heard Hammer's apology and couldn't help but smile as she peered up at her dragon companion's face to gauge his reaction.

Sharksneeze, on the other hand, was perplexed beyond believe. Humans really were such strange creatures. Still, he did understand the word after his rider stepped on his tail one too many times with how close he lingered to her as a baby. The Whispering Death began to rumble deep in his throat, trying to let Hammer and Mace know that he understood and forgave them. However, he wasn't able to stop a short rumble in a mimic of his rider's laughter shortly after Mace released his rider from his very jaws.

Mudslide looked over to Shadow, glad to see she was all right despite the bulbous weight of the Nightmare and the mud cacking her clothes. She looked up at her own dragon, a sweet smile etched across her face. "Go on 'n join 'em, Sneeze! It'll be fun!"

Sharksneeze was wary, but wanted to believe his rider had good intentions. He slowly uncoiled himself, but hung rather close to his rider as the two approached the Nightmares and their respective handlers.

"Sneeze usually likes water." Mudslide said as she kept a hand on the Whispering Death's flank as a sign of reassurance. She looked up at the dragon, who was eyeing Stormfalcon curiously. With a chuckle, Mudslide pat the dragon a few times. "Hope you guys don't mind 'ol Sneeze. He's just shy is all."

((I'm honestly finding this whole thing rather amusing. And thanks, Joshinator. I'm just making this up as I go to be honest. I wasn't expecting a RP to come out of my screen-shot either, but I'm thoroughly enjoying myself none the less. Thanks you two. ^_^))

The pleasure's all ours!

((Haha, I don't think any of us were expecting this, it just sorta... happened. I'm finding it beyond just amusing... forget watching movies! And thank YOU for letting us hijack your thread! XD Also, I wouldn't advise letting Hammerstein catch you calling him "Hammer"; only his mom calls him that, and anyone else who does gets a faceful of iron! Everyone calls him Hammerstein or Mace, because he always carries one around, but once he got a dragon and named him Maceforge things got confusing...))

"Aw, he's fine. I know how it is. My brother was really shy too when we were kids - I could never get him to stop building things and come out of his room! He just couldn't figure out how people worked for the longest time, and was afraid he'd look silly if he said anything to anyone. He still doesn't have many friends - it just takes him awhile to be able to trust someone, and I think Sharkie's probably the same way as my brother."

Hammerstein turned to walk toward the Wilderness, and called back over his shoulder, "Let's get going, guys... I don't want all this stuff to dry out on me! Looks like Stormfalcon and Maceforge are already off playing somewhere, so why don't you come with us, Sharksneeze? I bet the hot water would feel nice on all those spines, huh?"

((Yeah... I guess it did. I justed wanted to post a screenshot and I came back to this. I'm enjoying myself though. And you're welcome? XD Ah... Got it. I wasn't aware of this, so I'll try and be mindful and not let it slip from Mudslide's mouth. Yeah, that would be kinda confusing. XD))

Muslide laughed a little longer, shaking her head all the while. She waved a hand dismissively as she managed to regain herself once more. "'Ol Shark's 'bout the same way mah farm. He'd rather we stay there all dey long d'en talk tah oth'r dragons." She reached back and pat the Whispering Death on the chest as he'd since risen up to his normal stature. Taking this as a good sign, Mudslide followed after Hammerstein, Sharksneeze keeping close behind her all the while.

"He's not a huge fan o' water. Prefers dirt. Can't say I blame 'em though." She said with a cheeky grin before stopping mid-step. Sharksneeze bummed against her back and tilted his head once again in confusion. Ignoring this, Mudslide started walking again.

"By the way, I didn't catch ya'lls names."

Shadow followed the others, quite ready to be free of the quickly-drying mud.

"Name's Shadowclaw," she said, hanging off to the side, "You can call me 'Shadow.' The speedster up there is Hammerstein, but we all just call him Mace." She reached down while still walking and picked up a small stone, then tossed it at Mace's back, a mischievous grin on her face.

Just thought I'd give you a heads-up... XD

"Hey, who threw that?!" Hammerstein whipped around to try and see who it was. "Shadow? Haha, you've gotta work on your poker face; that was too easy. You'll regret that later, I assure you..." he teased with a devious smirk. "Like she said, I usually go by Mace - see? I've got one right here. And don't you guys call me Hammer," he said while brandishing the morningstar strapped to his belt, "unless you feel like getting a faceful of 'I'm never doing that again!'" Taking this as a threat, Sharksneeze quickly wrapped around the front of his trainer and growled menacingly. "Whoah, easy there, Sharkie! I didn't mean to scare ya, just making a point. I'm not gonna hurt anyone, unless they're an Outcast or a Roman of course. I just don't like being called Hammer, is all. Here, I'll put the mace away." Hammerstein tossed his mace into the bushes and backed up a bit. Sharksneeze slowly unwrapped his rider but stayed protectively in front of her, still entirely not sure about this particular human in front of him. "Yikes, you're scary when you're mad!" Sharksneeze rumbled again and bared his enormous teeth, as if to say and don't you forget it, either! "Don't worry, I'll be nice. I don't feel like getting the Sharksneeze treatment; I've already been eaten once today, and once is very much enough!" Hammerstein quipped as he turned around again and continued walking, this time a bit lopsided because of the mace he wasn't carrying on his belt.

Mudslide continued to follow alongside Shadow, occasionally glancing over her shoulder every few seconds to make sure her dragon was okay. The brunette nodded in acknowledgement to the verbal introductions and was about to present her own name when Sharksneeze made a noise behind her. Without stopping to think, she looked behind her just in time for Shadow to throw a rock at Hammerstein, causing her to miss the entire fiasco until the boy yelled something in retort to the treatment. Startled, Mudslide jumped slightly and stopped walking, causing her dragon to bump into her once more.

Upon regaining herself, Mudslide managed to catch the end of Hammerstein's own introduction, thus causing her to miss the "Hammer" bit and only catch onto the mace. She would have laughed if not for her dragon's protective reaction. The behavior was not uncommon for the Whispering Death, but it still threw her off every so often. To be honest, she never carried a weapon of her own outside of a gardeninghoe or shovel in her farm even before she recieved her dragon's egg. It was then she caught onto the "Hammer" bit during the Viking's rushed apology to the snarling Whispering Death whose head was looming barely five feet from her own. It was a bit of a miracle she heard anything at all over the ruckus. "Woah there! Take it easy!" She shouted while digging her worn-down nails into the dragon's dark scales to scratch his flank. It did little to appease the thunderous growls and the sound of gnashing teeth as the rings of fangs spun deep in the Whispering Death's throat. But slowly Sharksneeze complied after the weapon was tossed aside, giving Mudslide a chance to come back into the view of her fellow Vikings and dragon companions.

"Sorry 'bout that," she confessed in an attempt to make amends for her dragon's behavior.

Even after uncoiling, Sharksneeze remained close to his rider, seeming to find the entire situation rather unamusing. True to his name, the "whispering" that he species was renowned for kicked in at a low frequency, but he ablidged his rider's request aside from that. Mudslide reached back and gently massaged the dragon's exposed underbelly in an effor to entice him into calming down again. And it seemed to quell the "whispering" into nothing more than a dull hum if nothing else.

With a sigh of relief, Mudslide pat the dragon's scales reassuringly. "There ya go!" Taking this as a good sign, the brunette turned back around and started following after Hammerstein and Shadow again. She cupped her hands behind her head and walked at a slower pace with Sharksneeze's bulbous head gently bobbing back and forth on her immediate right as he slithered along next to her.

Remembering her manners, Mudslide offered a cheeky smile that revealed her crooked teeth and missing upper left canine. "By the way, mah name's Mudslide!" She dropped her hands to her sides before thumping herself on the chest with her right fist. "Folks just call me 'Mud' f'er short." With a quick flourish of her wrist, the pocket-sized Viking reached over and pat the side of the Whispering Death's jaw without even so much as a glance to ensure she wasn't going to impale her palm on a spike. "Ya'll seem teh know his name, but this here's Sharksneeze!" The dragon in question snorted in response, clearly still on edge about the whole "mace" thing. Mudslide sighed good-naturedly, sounding more like a tired mother than an exasperated teenager. "Take it easy there, Sneeze. You're fine!" The Whispering Death turned her head a bit to look at her, seeming to think more along the lines of being more concerned for her safety than his own. Mudslide quirked an eyebrow at this before chuckling under her breath. "I'll be all right too, ya overgrown snake." Taking her word (for now), Sharksneeze gave an indignant huff before turning his head away to look ahead again as they walked.

Mudslide quickly followed suit with her dragon, but soon found something else to be confused about. "Hey, 'stein?" she tepidly questioned. "Yeh okay?" She was, in fact, referring to his strange, lopsided walk.

Oh, I'm sorry... Did I mention my verbosity is contagious? }>:-D

((Mudslide. Just...wow. You legitimately just scared me spitless with your description of Sharksneeze. Thanks, I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyway... O_o "Usually just a big baby..." yeah, RIGHT. I put myself in Hammerstein's shoes before I read that, and got a bit more immersion than I bargained for! XD

Also, I'll give you a tip: long RP posts don't seem as long if you break them up into paragraphs instead of a solid wall of text. Otherwise, they're exhausting to read. How else do you think I get away with it? ;-P))

"Huh? Oh, yeah I'm fine," Hammerstein said, turning around to face Mudslide but continuing to walk backward toward the geysers. "I'm just used to carrying my mace, is all. My legs still haven't figured out that it's in the bushes instead of on my belt... But yeah, I'm fine." That last part wasn't entirely true - Hammerstein was thoroughly shaken by his recent and unusually close encounter with the gigantic, angry Whispering Death who was now warily following him. He suddenly felt very defenseless without his dragon; with Maceforge nowhere nearby, if something bad were to happen... Stop it! he thought to himself. The old days are gone. Trained dragons don't hurt people... Hammerstein tried to fight down the memories of watching his parents go out to fight dragons, wondering if they would come back in one piece, but the spine-covered behemoth that was suspiciously eyeballing him didn't help one bit. This is ridiculous... he thought as he sighed and turned back around, but he couldn't shake the image of that mouth full of razor-sharp teeth and the ominous rumbling whisper that was practically a death sentence until a few years ago...

YOU COULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT SOONER!

((Scaring you wasn't my intention! But, as with being a Whispering Death, they're supposed to be intimidating and downright scary. I'm still trying to get used to the idea that he's this big, bad dragon that's following some petite little brunette with a thick accent. <_<;;

I had tried that in previous posts, but I guess I keep forgetting to check my formatting before submitting my posts. I haven't RP'ed in a while, so I'm feeling more than a bit rusty. OTL

And I'm seriously considering added Hammerstein via friend-code in game.))

Mudslide cocked her head to the right this time as she continued to watch Hammerstein's bizarre gait. She supposed his explanation made sense and she was fine with leaving it at that. But still... the brunette wasn't sure if she should admit it where her dragon could hear her, but she felt terrible for making him alter his lifestyle for the sake of her scaled companion. At the same time, she couldn't necessarily repremand Sharksneeze for being wary around weapons that were once used against his kind. The Whispering Death had never had a weapon pointed at him (or so she sincerely hoped), so it must have been instinctive to feel threatened by such an object being pointed at you. But Hammerstein said he was okay... right?

As Hammerstein turned around, Mudslide felt like she'd lost her chance to say anything. She had never been the most comfortable with touchy subjects, especially with those she'd only just met, but the vertically-challenged young woman was determined to try and get to the bottom of this somehow.

"Uh... 'Stein?" she asked rather meekly. Finding the docile tone bothersome, Mudslide bit her tongue and pressed onward. "If it really both'rs y'eh, go get y'er mace back." Sharksneeze exhale a deep howl from the depth of his maw, clearly thinking against what his rider has just suggested to the young man. Worried this might disturb her companion and make him cross with her, Mudslide quickly reached up and attempted to scratch the dragon's chin. But Sharksneeze wasn't having it and raised his head entirely out of her reach (which, albeit, wasn't very hard).

Mudslide quickly drew her hand back to herself and stared up at the underside of the dragon's bulbous jaw. "Shark...?" She hadn't wanted it to, but her voice sounded pained as if the Whispering Death had struck her. Even the monstrous serpent couldn't ignore her and the shrieks coming from deep in his body began to slowly hidedown. Eventually he caved and lowered himself down to eye-level next to Mudslide and released a short snort before butting the side of his chin against her shoulder. Taking that as a sign of forgiveness, Mudslide quickly slung an arm around the dragon's body just below his wings and pulled herself closer to him. It actually took a bit of maneuvering this time, but the brunette pressed the crown of her skull up between several spines on the underside of the Whispering Death's lower jaw. Sharksneeze pressed back down in return before raising himself up again, bringing a giggling brunette Viking clear off the ground along with him.

Mudslide quickly wrapped her other around her dragon and dangled there for nearly a minute before letting herself drop down beneath the Whispering Death's head. She maintained their contact by keeping an open palm gently pressed against his swarthy scales before finally looking back at Hammerstein. "I think..." She shook her head before continuing with a small smile, "I t'ink so long as y'eh don't weild it 'round him, Shark'll ignore y'er mace." Sharksneeze did nothing to either agree or disagree with this rider, but the Whispering Death seemed at least willing to give it a try.

Problem? *trollface* XD

((Oh no, it was just fabulous. Anyone who can pull me into a story that vividly within a few paragraphs has earned my respect as a writer... and my friend code. ^u^ But seriously... Reread that post, put yourself in Hammerstein's boots and just imagine staring up into the gullet of an angry, ominously rumbling 90-foot meat grinder that wants you for lunch! O.o ))

I've gotten used to the whole "big scary dragon, pocket-sized Viking" thing by now (it's kinda cute, actually), but what still trips me up is the heavy accent. I can't figure out if it's a Mississippi twang, a Texas drawl, or a West Virginia butchering-of-the-English-language... XD ))

Lost in memories, Hammerstein continued walking absently until an unexpectedly soft voice tickled his ear and derailed his train of thought. "Hmm?" he mumbled, not really paying attention... until his preoccupied mind simultaneously registered Mudslide's words and Sharksneeze's agitated grumbles and moans. Looking back ((again... when are y'all gonna catch up? Sheesh... XP)), it was obvious that the dragon wasn't too pleased with his trainer's suggestion; she was attempting to calm him down, probably for the sake of those nearby, but he was having none of it. Hammerstein didn't want to go on alone and leave his friends there, but neither did he relish the prospect of getting too close to the irate Whispering Death again. He decided to stay where he was, a few yards ahead of the group, and wait.

At precisely that moment, Hammerstein heard and saw something that he simply did not anticipate. "Shark?" The single plaintive syllable cut through the still air with the sound of a wounded heart. A sound that spoke of an intimate relationship between the trainer and her dragon, one that runs deeper than mere friendship or loyalty, one that was pained by Sharksneeze's stubborn rejection. As the enormous dragon slowly quieted his distressed vocalizations and lowered his head to Mudslide's side, a deliberate and heartfelt apology was plainly visible on the normally inexpressive face of the Whispering Death.

It took awhile, but the revelation eventually hit Hammerstein like a freight train: Sharksneeze actually cares about her, every bit as much as she loves him. Despite all the earlier craziness, he never actually believed that such a nightmare-inducing creature could have that sort of voluntary two-way relationship with a person... until the evidence was giggling and playing right in front of him.

When Mudslide finally turned around and addressed him, Hammerstein found himself staring awkwardly at the pair. "Ya know, 'Stein, ah think as long as ya don't wield it around 'im, Shark'll ignore yer mace..." she mused. "Ehh, I probably won't need it any time soon - I don't think Sharkie needs any more reasons to be afraid of me today." He glanced up at Sharksneeze, and thought he saw a look of understanding in the dim white eyes. The dragon knew he had run Hammerstein through an ordeal most would have run away from in fear or disgust, and the fact that he persisted in leaving behind his only protection gave Sharksneeze some small measure of trust in the human.

((Holy smokes... I wasn't kidding when I said these things write themselves. I have exactly zero idea where that just came from... o.O I think that should catch us up to where Inna jumped in. *sheepish grin* Sorry Inna, you just happened to walk in on a moment of tension that had to be resolved. XD))

Inna walked by and saw three

Inna walked by and saw three students and they're dragons hanging out... and then:

"A whispering death!" She yelled and jumped on her dragon back and ran to the dragon.

As the girl got closser the whispering death changed it's position to agressive and over- protectingly stood beside the girl that seemed to be the owner of his.

"Woah!" Inna said and sharply stopped. "Uh, I wasn't going to hurt her..." Inna said and looked at Mudslide. "I just... wanted to look at you..."

Uh...

Mudslide wasn't even aware of an upcoming new arrival until she heard Sharksneeze's growls return at nearly full volume. Perplexed and eager to cease the infamous 'whisper', the brunette whipped her around in all directions in her search for the cause.

Sure enough, she spotted another dragon heading toward them.

An unfamiliar voice rang out from behind the newcomer, indicating it had a rider. Mudslide quirked an eyebrow at the girl, clearly confused by her words. "Uh... hi?"

It's party time! P.A.R.T... Y? Because I've GOTTA!!!

((E-cookie to whoever gets the movie reference first! XD Two's company and three's a crowd, but I guess four's a party!))

"You may want to back up just a bit..." Hammerstein had to yell to be heard over the increasingly perturbed dragon, the earthquake-like bass and threatening whisper emanating from its throat all but drowning out his relatively weak voice. "He seems to get anxious around other dragons or people!" The new girl and her Nadder both wore expressions of confusion and no small amount of intimidation, but they complied and gave the aggravated Whispering Death more space.

Shadow stepped back, her mischievous grin long gone. She had been about to say something teasing back at Mace, but then the whole Whispering fiasco happened and the comical air just disappeared like a spiderweb in a blizzard. She just stood off to one side, awkwardly watching the proceedings. When the other rider appeared, she stepped even further back, suddenly unnerved by the amount of energy the newcomer possessed.

She could have plenty of energy herself, of course, but only around people she was comfortable with. People she considered friends. Strangers, though... she slowly moved towards where Mace was waiting for them to catch up, hoping no one noticed her, until she was parallel to him rather than Mudslide and the newcomer.

((So, yeah explaining away my silence by showing how uncomfortable my character has been through all that happened. ^^; Short post is short))

Cheater... XD

((Kidding, it actually works pretty well. Things definitely got serious fast, but I sense a bit of lightness coming into the group with Inna once ol' Sharkie calms down.))

((I have nothing to add; it's Inna's turn probably. Why are you still reading?! Go away. ;-P ))

((Yeah, I know, it was all hilarity and then Mace nearly became a shish-kebab. A Mace-kebab.

And nyeh, make me XP

Edit: (hey, it let me edit~) If I see any more spikes my blood pressure is gonna spike. @.@ So many... so..so many spikes... and spines... and spikey-spiney fin things... I apparently cannot draw spikes/spines from a direct POV... I can do them angled or on the sides, but looking straight at them X.x I did my best, though, so it should turn out fairly well. Yes, I'm talking about the drawing.))

Well, let me add some inspiration...

((To help you scare the pants off anyone who looks at your drawing! In the best way possible, of course... Also, SPIKIES!!! *trollface*

Toothless isn't a small dragon by any stretch of the imagination, but that Whispering Death makes him look like an hors d'oeuvre... O.o Also, on that last pic... Star Wars, anyone? XD ))

I'm sorry...

((I'm sorry Sharksneeze is so spikey. I can't imagine trying to animate one of these things, let alone draw one. <_<;;

Although... I'm not ashamed to admit that I now have the toy for this dragon. <_<;;

EDIT:

I just found this, and now I'm thoroughly concerned.

((Eh, no worries. I agree, though... Animating would be HORRIBLE. Especially traditionally. Digitally may not be as hard, but still. Spikes. x.x

And... Venom 10????????? Say what?! OxO;;;;; Umm, yeah, now I'm scared. Although...now I want to make antivenin using Shark... I'm weird.))

((@ Shadow:
Yeah... It would be. Traditionally animating this thing would be a serious pain the rear. Maybe that's why they made the Book of Dragon's animation short using rather whimsical looking cartoon-y dragons. O.o;;

I was shocked to see it was venomous as well! It's scary enough it can dig through boulders no problem, shoot its spines similar to a Nadder, and seems to be immune to the screeches of a Thunderdrum. But now it's poisonous?!

As for the anti-venom... It might not be a bad idea. It might be harder than getting it from a Scaldron though. <_<;;

@ Joshinator:

I haven't the slightest clue, but out of all the known dragons (sans possibly the Red & Screaming Deaths), only the Night Fury has surperior stats. The biggest exceptions to that though is that the Whispering Death has a higher attack, armor, venom (Night Fury has none), and jaw strength. That last one makes sense, but the first two are still concerning. O.o;;

You could get venom from Sharkie... if he'd cooperate! XD

Yehh... higher attack than a plasma blast? I don't wanna find out firsthand, thankyouverymuch... And with armor that tough, my previous question still stands: unless by sheer force of will, how the heck did Toothless tackle and hold down that thing? O_O

((Well... Maybe Mudslide could get it for them? O.o;;

And yeah, I'm wondering along the same lines. Toothless is winning in shot-limit, speed, and firepower though (although they seem to regularly ignore shot-limit in everything). I'm guessing maybe Toothless is just that much of a BAMF or that Whispering Death was further along in its years. O.o;;))

((Considering just how big it was, and it's dusty-dull colouration (which didn't seem to be tied with the tunneling at all), I'd say he/she was a rather aged Whisper. Still, I think it's just that toothless is so bad-donkey (I'm sure the actual word isn't allowed) that he can win...well, he probably will win... against even a Screaming Death. I mean, they beat the Red/Green Death (so many Deaths... lot of yeuses) so the Whisper must have seemed fairly easy in comparison.))

((That is true. So It's not difficult to imagine Toothless besting a Whispering/Screaming Death.(s).

"Uh... I um, yea..." Inna hesistated. "I am sorry I ran so quickly... uh, all of you... I am Inna by the way- and this is Rosethorn..." She said and pointed at her mint green nadder. "What's your name... everyone?" She asked and hoped the whipering death won't kill her.
