Are our accounts safe anymore?
First I just want to clarify, I am not a hacker. I don't even know how to hack. But this scary thing happened twice today: I made a viking for my little sister so I could share gems with her instead of having to pay for them (it also gave me extra gem quests before those were taken away so win-win). I had a headache so I logged her into my account, went to my room, and laid down. Moments later she knocked on my door and told me she wasn't playing her viking. I thought she accidentally hit the wrong viking (I have like four others), so I checked this out. She wasn't playing her viking OR any of mine, in fact this was someone else's viking entirely! At first I thought it was a glitch (because those NEVER happen) so I went to check out the stables, see if her dragons were there. They weren't hers. I immediately logged out, somehow the game connected my account to someone else's viking.
Is this hole in security something to be concerned about? Because I'm concerned now, I didn't need an account name OR PASSWORD to access this other player's account.
Honestly, safety in this game has always been an issue. Hackers don't even need to hack anymore I guess. What has this game come to?
The day this happens to me is the day I stop playing entirely. This absolutely terrifies me.
You say it happened twice? Was it the same random other person's viking or was it a different one both times? Are you still connected to this other person's account to did re-loging at least get yours back? (Eather way scary just curious for more info on this weird as heck glitch)
Asking a quick question because I have a viking with short pink hair, did she also have a flower crown? and was the sand wraith a dark color with blue spots? if so then It was probably one of mine. (Hopefully not but you never know)
This scares me. I really do hope this was just a fluke but if it really is a actural problem we're all gonna have to do something 'bout it. (not sure what, just something)
The fact that it was different people both times makes it worse. If it was the same person I would wonder if maybe maybe your passwords happen to be really similiar or something glitched when they were setting up their account and the system that usually prevents passwords from being the same didn't work resulting in your accounts being confused by the system. This though, this is worse. It's just entirely random.
I hope this doesn't happen to me nor my account. Now i don't even know if i should play SoD anymore
Oh wow... I hope it gets fixed for you and your sister. Hopefully that random viking will go back to it's rightful account. Edit: I am being cautious with my account. Gonna protect it with my life.
Hmmm... The games bugs and flaws don't bother me much, but account security? That's gotta be top of the line to take care of. I also worry about my account getting hacked or invaded.
That is scary, even for me —who's normally confident and secure. Hopefully that's just a wierd, insanely rare glitch.
I would suggest Manage Account and change your password, but Manage Account is broken. There's a re-enter password issue that would try to block you out even if you have entered the correct password. Even if you click the page to get out of it, you cannot submit any changes for it brings you to that barracade again and undos your changes. Forget the bug patching, the security hole needs to be fixed as a #1 priority!
I suggest you to immediately change the password either by doing the Forgot Password thing or by Manage Account (which may or may not work, really depends on RNG at this point), contact Jumpstart support email (support@schoolofdragons.com) about it (it's Friday so they should answer, hopefully), and maybe delete that Viking from the menu if it's still there.
Because that feels like a funky case that happened to me where my password was nonexistent so I could type anything and the game would accept it as a password meaning anyone could go in, had to fix it by changing the password and when I contacted the support, they said I was apparently the only one to have that glitch.
After more info has come up on this thread I'd say deffinitly do not delete the unknown vikings in this glitch because this is a case of the OP actually being in another person's account rather then someone getting into yours and creating a random viking there. So, for anyone reading this if you get this glitch then you'd be deleting an innocent random other person's vikings. Please do not do that. Just try logging out and back in first.
Seeing this post makes me want to reset my password too but I know that the 'reset password' button and support email are selective in when they want to work, so it feels like a bit of a dead-end for us.
I'm terrified it might happen to me, or anyone for that matter. When I logged out I had to exit the game first...none of the vikings in those slots were mine, which is how I know somehow MY username and MY password logged me into their account instead of only viking. It was two different players but I can't remember their names. I just remember one viking had short pink hair and a sand wraith of a different color than my sister's. The other account was a different viking and he had a Skrillknapper. None of my vikings or my sister's viking has a Skrillknapper. I could've destroyed both of those accounts if I'd wanted to. It's a really terrifying thought.
Re-logging got mine back but you know how there's a server call time out and you're logged out of your account? That's what happened and when I logged in again suddenly I'm playing some other viking. I freaked out. Logged out, logged back in, and (when the game finally loaded) I had my account back. It hasn't happened since but still, once is bad but twice is even worse.
