Anyone else seen The Book of Life?
I finally went to see it today. It was great. I absolutely love the unusual style of this movie.
Buuuuuuut, the music was dissapointing. There was only one completely original song in the entire movie. :( Granted, I wasn't expecting any Disney musicals... but... only one original song? Really?
Also, I went to the IMAX 3D showing. It was almost completely empty. ._. There was literally just me, and a family of 3 in the entire theater. I guess everyone else already saw it.

For those of you who havent seen the movie/don't want spoilers/are waiting for the DVD to see it/ect, be warned.
Before I start, I just want to say I don't really plan on seeing or buying the movie. Could you answer one question? Just the guy get back to his love (girl)?
Eclipse and Me
I saw the movie. I liked it, it was funny and I had some laughs(Spoiler) like when one of them said,"What is it with Mexicans and dying!":') everyone in my theater room laughed. Still, the only flaw that made this movie number 5 on my list was the fact the battle sences were so rushed. It had no effort. Where as if you compare it to my second favorite movie, Maleficent, those battle sences had so much time put into them while the Book of Life's one was just for the sake of moving foward with the plot. In the end, I liked the movie and it still landed pretty high on my list.

The battle scenes were kind of rushed, but, taking into account that the movie was about love, and not the fighting, I gave it a pass. It's definitely not my favorite movie of all time (the lack of original music composition really brought it down), it's still decently high on my list, because it's not something that has been done millions of times in the same exact way. The execution is fresh, and the cultural impact is great. It would be nice to see more culturally aware movies like this one.
On a side note, I kind of wish Xibalba had John De Lancie as voice actor. He's such a chaotic character that I think his voice would have been a great way to go with him. The voice they got was pretty good, though. Just suave enough for the job.
I do see the movie was about love but at least the first battle had to have some talent in it but no. The lack of original music was a downsider(who made this movie? DreamWorks). I did like the twist ending at the end. John De Lancie would have been an awesome voice actor! I seen the way he plays Discord(Youtube is Amazing!) and I hoped he would play Xibalba, another reason why this movie is slowly moving down.........
Actually this movie was produced by Reel FX Creative Studios, and distributed by 20th Century Fox. XD Dreamworks had nothing to do with it, as far as I know.
And yes, De Lancie would have been perfect. His bizarre inflections and intonations would have been perfect for this kind of role. But perhaps he was busy working on something else. I hear he's releasing some kind of documentary in the near future that was funded through Kickstarter.
The bullfighting scenes were interesting to watch as well.

I do have to admit the bullfighting scenes were epic(though I will never admit that to my friends)
I have to check out De Lancies kickstarter and tell him to do animation roles, or I'll stop watching him on youtube XD
Creative? The whole movie is like one big, colorful, trip. XD The colors and visuals, as well as the detail, are gorgeous.

Depends on who you mean by "the guy". If you mean Manolo, who the trailers focus on, yes. He does indeed come back to life and get the girl in the end. I really would suggest seeing the movie, though. It's how he gets there that's important. :)
