The 13th Sign ★ [The Roleplay Thread]
"The whole place is something to get used to, even when you're born there," Kalden responded, slightly pulling Luca out of his hood with a curious gaze to the other male. A thankful smile following soon after.
"Ahh, you guys are a blast." Maikela's oddly deep voice caught his attention, dropping his arm and watching the extended arms move. Pulling his head back, still looking like a confused kitten in some manners.
"Perhaps this place wont be as atrocious as I had presumed." She finished it off with, earning a raised eyebrow from the white haired boy. Shaking his head slightly as he searched for something to respond with, but settled on an awkward smile and silence as he had nothing to add.
Myr heard the manticore taking off, carrying Sauren and the other boy. Luca took one of the secret tunnels down, leaving just Maikela. For a moment, she thought the girl would approach her and call her out for following them, but it soon became apparent Maikela would just ignore her in favour of figuring out how to get down.
The pink-haired girl leaned forward, took a deep breath, and vanished over the edge of the balcony. Myr wasn’t surprised. Maikela was using her illusions to turn herself invisible so she could clamber down without anyone seeing her.
When she was younger, she had often wished for Invisibility or Illusion Manipulation as a secondary power, but she had to admit she couldn’t have asked for anything better than Density Manipulation. When one was invisible one still had to work at opening locked doors, but she could just walk straight through. Her only worry was being spotted, a problem easily overcome with enough practice and experience.
Myr considered her options as she looked at the now vacant balcony. She could follow their example and launch herself off the balcony, manipulating the density of the air she fell through to slow her descend. But she didn’t really feel like letting everyone see her.
She decided to just go through with her original plan: stay inside the building and take the quickest route down.
A few minutes later she walked out into the courtyard, where a large number of students and teachers were already gathered. Myr stuck close to the walls, not feeling comfortable in a crowd.
She spotted Sauren, seemingly plastered vertically against a pillar and looking completely at ease. Hmm, so Floor Tilting…interesting. Not a Scorpio power. I wonder if she has one?
She saw Maikela had joined up with the two males again, and briefly considered getting closer to them again. But she decided against it, feeling a new attempt after her previous failed one was pushing her luck.
She found a dark corner, a little away from everything where she could observe the events in peace. She settled there and waited for the orientation to start.
The conversation hit a lull, with Maikela receiving nothing but a tight-lipped, awkward smile from Luca.
Maikela returned the smile before tilting her head slightly, remembering that black-haired thief from earlier. Lifting her chin, she studied the crowd.
Again. Another valuable Ally to have. Her father had never requested anything from the esteemed Myra because he always had Maikela to do his dirty work. Maikela who could reduce her body to the size of an ant, slipping into pretty much any area. Of course, as much as he had encouraged her to practice her shifting abilities, she had never been able to make a complete transformation until yesterday.
Maikela located the green streak of hair huddled in a dark corner and attempted to catch her eye. She beckoned Myra over with a coy smile.
"I would like to introduce you to an acquaintance of mine." Maikela hummed softly to her group. "She is an expert in.... Relocation and rehoming lost artefacts."
((Dang I love the new academy sigil, Dill. Nice work!))
((I tried posting last night but the computer crashed and it was late. I want Sauren to have a l.ove life with someone of the opposite gender, but first... drama))
[l.ove life got changed to SPAM for some reason o.o]
Sauren watched in her periphereal as Maikela made an attempt to introduce the thief from earlier to the group. It didn't pass her notice how Luca got flustered earlier when he looked at Kalden, or how Kalden seemed so adorably oblivious to the romance blooming around him everytime he walked into the room.
Her mind was already sorting through good matches for herself, something she'd picked up from reading too many books during her spare and time watching secondhand how love played on the field. She wanted a soulmate, a companion, to share her secrets, desires, concerns with, but the only way to do that was through one heck of an unstable method: love.
Ever since she'd turned 15, her father had prompted her to begin looking for a lover. Sauren knew what he meant. You're an impeccably lethal match, but you might as well try. Maybe you'll find someone.
She'd tried dating another girl in the desert once. That had gone distrastrously when Sauren tried to woo her with a pet Deathstalker scorpion. Honestly. Rezshei was pretty hands off about her SPAM, mainly because it was there practically no thing there to be concerned about due to potential suitors being frightened away by Sauren's romantic attempts.
Kalden seemed to be the target of many flirtations from probably everyone he met; Sauren had yet to approach him in such a manner, but she really didn't see any point in dancing around something so important. Luca was an arrogant jerk, but if he could set aside his impossibleness for the better, maybe... but so far he was a negative. If she didn't see any positive development soon, she'd have to stick with just roasting him instead of trying to date him too. And Maikela... Sauren would be better off trying to wrangle a cobra into a sock and giving at a gift to Nix. While the Pisces girl had many admirable qualities, those qualities were better suited to Sauren as a business ally and possibly a friend, nothing more.
Doug remained confused for a bit until Kyra explained that it might be some invisible classmate bumbed into them on accident at which his excitedment skyrocketed like a puppy "So that just now could be our schoolmate? Hi schoolmate!! Your ability is very cool! I hope I'll SEE you soon!" He shouted and waved dumbly and enthuastically to the empty air, Unaware that Ayo has already turned visible and creeped away alone the wall and sea of students.
Myr knew she was spotted when Maikela's eyes roved over the crowd and locked onto her. She was hardly hiding, after all. The pink-haired girl’s features morphed into a sickly sweet smile and she beckoned her over to join their little group.
Myr considered ignoring her. After all, she didn’t have anyone she cared about for Oberon Nix to go after if she embarrassed his daughter. But she decided not to. No sense in antagonizing the girl on the first day of school, and she had to admit she was curious.
She pushed herself away from the wall and sauntered towards the group, Maikela’s smile turning smug as she did.
“Maikela Nix,” Myr said coolly. “Fancy meeting you here.” She crossed her arms, green eyes boring into blue and pink. The message was clear: I’m not a dog to come running at your beck and call.
((Just to be clear, Myr and Maikela have never met in person))
Kyra noticed the sudden appearance of a splash of color. She glanced over and saw a student making herself visible. She wondered if it was whoever bumped into Tirali earlier. They soon reached the courtyard and saw students gathering in front of a temporary stage for orientation.
"Ok you two, when orientation starts, you're going to have to be quiet." She reminded the pets, earning a chirp of acknolwedgment from Tanto. She rubbed his head in response, knowing her friend would keep Silverscale quiet.
"You know, I have a theory on what type of dragon Silverscale might be. I think she might be a Moonscale Dragon and a Metalscale hyrbid. I've seen larger ones in zoos before and they're very majestic creatures. Moonscales usually like to associate themselves with their elements - usually air or water signs. Especially when they're hyrbids. People have been breeding miniature dragons as pets for years. My parents have a friend who breeds both Metal and Moonscales. I can send Miss Rosali a picture and see if she can confirm what breed of dragon Silverscale is." Kyra offered, figuring she might as well voice what had been going over in her head pretty much since she met Silverscale and Kyra. She glacned back at the boy Doug to see if he was still with their group
((I know. She just said acquaintance to be dramatic))
The raven haired thief sauntered over, staring at her with indignation. "Maikela Nix. Fancy meeting you here."
If Maikela noticed the reproach, she did not give any indication to it. Instead she offered another one of her smiles. "Myr, right? Welcome. I never expected to see you here. It's a pleasure." She cooed.
Who knew that this school would be perfect for forging such valuable alliances. "I suppose everyone should introduce themselves." She nodded to her group
Myr saw straight through Maikela’s façade of the pretty empty-headed girl. She had dealt with enough ladies trying to convince her that the jewelry they wanted her to steal had originally belonged to them. She heard the intention behind Maikela’s soft cooing voice. She wants to see if she can use me.
Myr had no intention of being used by anyone, but she decided to play along, just for the fun of it.
“Likewise,” she replied pleasantly, tilting her head a little. She was rewarded with a dazzling smile from the other girl.
“I suppose everyone should introduce themselves,” Maikela said. Before either of the males could open their mouth, Myr beat them to it.
“I know you are Luca Morrison,” she said to the shorter one, before turning to the other one. “But I don’t know you.” Which means you’re either not important, boring or both.
((I just noticed everyone had their name in the subject box, I don't usually read the subject box so I didn't know, was supposed to be doing that? ))
I heard someone shouting and waving at the place I just been, then make a pun as bad as the ones I would make. I really look forward to my time hear.
((Luca's shorter than Kalden... XD and thanks, Bo! :P))
"I would like to introduce you to an acquaintance of mine." Maikela's soft voice spoke, her sentence slowly fading in Luca's mind and he barely noticed the gesture towards the girl they saw eariler. Other voices of different houses seemed to seep into his head and began to translate inside. A few broad statements about him from a pair of girls seemed to scream in his head as it was translated from their native language to his. In his attempts to tune it out, he let in other voices to try and change the topic, but only managed to create a hall of echoing voices with no real words to understand. All bleeding together and only growing louder in his head, causing his eyes to close and head to bury further in his hood as he tried to focus on a person near him. Taking a few steps backwards in hopes to hide from his groups eyes.
"-Hi schoolmate!! Your ability is very cool! I hope I'll SEE you soon!" One voice yelled, still fading in and out as it rang into Luca's ears.
"-and see if she can confirm what breed of dragon Silverscale is." Another voice spoke, less faded than the other, but still echoed out in certain areas.
'Shut up' His internal voice sounded, trying to drown out the rest of the voices. Needing to repeat the statement a few more times in his head before he almost let it slip out loud. His mouth opening in the shape to sound out the two words, and a breath brushing by his teeth, but to his relief. No voice. No sound.
'10... 8.. No... 10.. 9.. 7... NO. 10. 9. 8. 6?.... no...' Luca thought to himself, trying to focus on his own thoughts than everyone else's voice entering.
'10. 9. 8... What came after?' He opened his eyes and stared down, looking at his hand and flattened it against his leg but was still able to see all of his fingers. Voices still loudly pouring into his head as he tried to focus on counting backwards.
'10... 9... 8....' he pushed each finger closer together as he counted them, spreading them back out on his leg as he ran out of fingers to close together.
'7.. 6... 5. 4. 3..'
“I know you are Luca Morrison,” He heard the sentence in a muffled tone, but heard his name loud and clear. Snapping his head up to the girl who spoke his name, not entirely sure when she got there.
“But I don’t know you.” Her attention moved to the taller male and her facial features almost appeared to say something crude in her mind. But Luca just chopped it down to the fuzzy power spike of his. The voices from everyone seemed to have d.ied down, and he could just barely think.
'Supercilious?' He questioned to himself, looking to the new girl's posture and the way she spoke. Though he's sure she introduced herself, he most certainly never caught her name. Though, didn't bother to ask the question in hopes someone else would just say it for him. Still echoing numbers in his head to keep from hearing other people's voices, but was still able to listen to the group talk for the meantime.
“I know you are Luca Morrison,” Myra commented before regarding Kalden “But I don’t know you.”
Maikela wore a pleasant smile as she gazed over at the group. Her smile faltered slightly when she noticed the expression that Luca wore on his face.
He reminded her of a turtle, retreating further into his hood, his eyelids pressed harshly against each other, almost as if he were in pain. He shuffled backwards slightly behaviour not too characteristic of him.
Leaving Myra to speak with Kalden, Maikela inched over towards Luca. She laid a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You okay, hun?" She asked very quietly, her voice laced with genuine sounding concern.
She had always been taught that a proper lady shows compassion and empathy in every situation. She had been acting on auto-pilot since the moment she arrived so feigning compassion came like second nature to her.
A hand on Luca's shoulder caused him to shiver a bit, looking over to the owner of the hand and voice. Nodding his head in response and waving his own hand slightly.
"Yeah" He quietly mumbled out, trying to force a smile towards the pisces girl. Though he found it odd, she didn't entirely strike him as the caring type, more the mock and laugh with a hint of michief rather than this.
'This is why I gave up trying to figure out Pisces...' He thought, an small genuine smile morphing over the forced one as he thought about his encounters with them in their cities. He looked at her with a slightly larger smile again and lifted his head more to look around, finding an small form on a pillar.
"You think she ever gets dizzy when she does that?" He mused, tilting his head to the Scorpio girl hanging out on the pillar side.
"Yeah." Luca croaked, forcing a smile which gradually morphed into something more genuine.
Returning the expression out of politeness, Maikela withdrew her hand, settling it gently in front of her as she rested her parasol on her shoulder. She opened up the umbrella frill, adjusting it so she stood within the shade it generated. Sunlight shone through the lace, casting intricate speckled patterns onto the ground below.
"You think she ever gets dizzy when she does that?"
"Hmm?" Maikela followed Luca's gaze to where Sauren stood, looking as unapproacheable as always on the pillar.
A giggle fell from the short girl's lips. "I'd imagine that she would get used to it after a while. Unfortunately, if I were her, I would likely be hurling my guts out." The joke was uncharacteristically crass for a woman of Mikela's station, a sublte hint at her true personality which lay buried beneath the pink lace facade that she maintained.
((@Sky and Ocean, you don't have to; you can put whatever you want into you subject, but we do both because we can and it helps keeps track of who's who throughout the RP))
The word "guts" drew Sauren's full attention, thought she didn't look in the direction of the word right away, and neither had she not been eavesdropping, either. Oh, she recognized that voice. Maikela. Just saying how weak her stomach would be if she attempted floor tilting. Wonder if you've already tried that and lost your heart in the process, Sauren thought wryly.
She slid a knowing glance at the two from her position on the pillar. With a slight censored of her head, she invited them over if they wished. Tilting for herself was a piece of Pisces pie. But maintaining a tilt for others was slightly more difficult since it wasn't her own body and gravity she regulated. And other bodies were notoriously difficult to regulate when trying to tilt. But she'd mastered it before any of the others had, impressing both her tutors and her father, earning free reign over her tilting from Rezshei.
On the flip side, being in charge of other people's gravity had its merits. The epicenter of gravity was you, and you alone. And if you were strong and smart enough, gravity was both your friend and your weapon.
Sauren shifted position, sitting up instead of looking like a chained pillar prisoner, and looked up from her perspective, out on everyone. To everyone else, she was facing the ground but looking horizontally.
((@Wolf and Star: Her name is Myr, not Myra :) ))
The boy’s actions confirmed Myr’s initial assessment of him. Definitely boring. “Pleasure,” she said curtly, before her attention was caught by the other two. Maikela put a hand on Luca’s shoulder (Myr almost snorted at the fake display of concern, but managed to hold it in), who seemed to be experiencing what looked like a serious headache. She wondered what was causing it. Maybe his power was overwhelming him momentarily? She knew he was a Sagittarius, but she didn’t know what ability he possessed, or if he had more than one.
Eventually, it seemed to dissipate, and Luca looked at Maikela with a grateful expression that told Myr the pink-haired girl had him wrapped around her little finger. I’d watch out if I were you, boy.
“You think she ever gets dizzy when she does that?” Luca asked, looking at Sauren, still plastered to her pillar.
Maikela giggled. “If I were her, I would likely be hurling my guts out.”
Myr’s eyes widened slightly at the crudeness of the comment. There you are, she thought, amused at the short glimpse of Maikela’s true personality.
Sauren seemed to have heard them talking about her, and subtly invited them over. Myr wasn’t one to take this kind of initiative, preferring to observe from the sidelines, so she waited and watched what the others would do.
"I'd imagine that she would get used to it after a while. Unfortunately, if I were her, I would likely be hurling my guts out." She spoke, earning scoff from the white haired male, watching as the scorpio girl had invited them over. In which he narrowed his eyes and gave a large smile in response, shaking his head a for sure no. Then nodded his head towards the group, practically saying 'Ha, no way. Come here.'
((Battle of the wills mwahaha))
Sauren smiled, truly smiled, at Luca's blunt rejection and his own invitation. She considered the offer, anticipating Maikela's next move.
She really didn't want to talk to humans right now, but she wasn't just here to learn how to handle her fluctuating vertigo, as her father had implicated.
"You're going to Nysa to keep in touch with some of our more subtle allies, and get closer to the source of the irregular events that have my men spooked..."
Though both she and her father had grown up in the toxic Scorpo Desert, they put on a refined facade to strengthen their alliances and intimdate their colleagues. They were proper savages, as Rezshei liked to put it. Thinking of him made Sauren sigh wistfully, though the feeling didn't last long.
((Yeah. I have an OC named Myra so it's a force of habit lol))
Maikela noticed the gesture, Sauren inviting them over.
Over to talk or over to walk up the sides of walls?
Maikela was not sure which.
She was also blatantly aware of the reproach in Myr's gaze as the onyx haired thief regarded her. Myr did not even know the petite heiress and already seemed to detest her.
Sighing inwardly, Maikela shifted her gaze towards Luca who was rather comically shaking his head, rejecting Sauren's invitation then countering it with one of his own- all without speaking a word.
Sauren remained unflappable in her resolve and merely regarded him with a thoughtful expression.
Maikela found herself chuckling at the standoff that emerged between the two. "Ooh. Cat fight." She hummed teasingly.
Sauren saw Maikela chuckling, teasing with "Cat fight". Indeed.
She sat stubbornly on the pillar, side-eyeing Luca and the people that surrounded him. The fellow thief from before seemed to have already drawn conclusions about Maikela, given how her suspicious gaze toward the Pisces, a wise thing to do in Sauren's opnion. Kalden, as ever, was oblivious to the ulterior motives of his new acquaintences and remained polite and soft-spoken.
((Is everyone going to eventually meet up in one large group, because they're all clustered in cliques right now...))
((Feel like that would be a lot to manage but... maybe?))
((We are supposed to eventually head off into the unknown--I will slash your tires with my face and microwave your cat if you break into song--and it seemed like we should probably meet beforehand? Also, when will we get ripped from our scheduels to go hunt down the evil?))
((Maybe we could do that now? But it doesn't look like everyone's online... Maybe... Hey Geek, are they gonna do a tour? Cause if they do, then we can group up in 12 or with whose ever active and everyone can get to know each other that way while going a tour through the school.. yeah? Also.... Where is everyone else... Cause only a handful of us are posting lately... But.. not 12 different peoples...))
"Ooh. Cat fight." The teasing sing song voice came from the small girl had earned an eye roll and a smile from Luca. Looking back to Sauren with a questioning gaze, having noticed she got distracted by what seemed like her own thoughts. Slowly moving his head towards Maikela and Kalden again to see if she'd come.
((It's almost midnight here, so I won't be posting again tonight. Whatever you end up doing, can you just take Myr along?))
((That all sounds good!))
((That's okay, take your time :)..))
Doug followed along with Tirali and Kyra after the shouting bits. They are into the courtyard now and he looks around at the students and the building in amazement while the other two continue to discussed about their pet, a topic Doug himself gave up on relating, atleast for now. He spoted the famous boy with the winged horse from earlier, Luca Morrison, right. and then there was a person stuck weirdly on a pillar, cool! Doug didn't joined in or make a commotion, he just looked on at the weird stand off with interest.
(Nysa has a Yule Ball!!!))
Maikela directed ger unwavering gaze to the stage as a woman whom she assumed was the Headmaster began to speak.
She would be lying if she said that she was listening to all of what the older woman had to say. Although the mention of a dance caught her ear
As much as she hated the hours spent learning how to waltz and ball room dance, she did enjoy a good old-fashioned ball. Especially considering her popularity among the richer families. She always had suitors during the winter holidays which was both exhausting and annoying. Greedy fathers attempting to marry off their sons and daughters to Maikela in Hopes of inheriting Oberon's wealth and company. Fortunately for Maikela, Oberon was extremely selective about potential suitors and never found any of the matches to be very advantageous. Which worked out well because Maikela doubted she would never allow herself to be married. She played fast and loose, definitely not one for commitment.
The older sutendents began to clear out as the orientation came to a close. An instructor who Maikela instantly recognized as a fellow Pisces spoke up, directing all new students to follow her. Sighing, Maikela glanced at Kalden before daintily picking her way over towards the gathering crowd
((I won't be able to post for a bit, just have Tirali follow Kyra or Doug if anything important happens))
((So can I just make earlier's Dean Mavery into the Scorpio Administrator then?))
Orientation having finished, Sauren looked around and spotted last year's Pisces administrator coming to round up a crew for a tour. Might as well join the bandwagon while she still could. Standing up, she reshifted her gravity epicenter, placing it delicately on each student's head as she lightly stepped from head to head, never spending more than 2 seconds on each, and made her way to the group of Kalden, Miakela and Luca. Her last steps were strategically placed on Luca and Maikela's heads. She hopped down from from Maikela's cotton-candied head, anchoring her gravity once more to the everyone else's dull epicenter of motion.
She tossed them both a wry smile before averting her attention to the Pisces admin.
Maikela instinctively jumped when she felt a weight pressing down lightly from the top of her head. Years of combat training siezed her body as she lashed out, instively grabbed Sauren by the back of the neck when the Scoprio landed on the ground, her thumb poised to jam inbetween two vertebrae.
"Eek! My apologies. You startled me." Maikela gasped after a moments hestation. She was half tempted to go through with her inital attack but decided that it would not be a good maneuver to make allies. Instead she fell back on her facade, covering her hair with her hands. "Ew! Do you know where your shoes have been?" She wrinkled her nose slightly.
Luca's began to close and his head began to drop as he listened to the Principle speak, her words slowly lulling him to sleep. But quickly jolted his head up and shook it a bit to wake up at the sound of cheers. Looking around at the older students as they began to discuss the upcoming event Luca had heard so much about.
"Alright. If the rest of you gather around, we can get this show on the road." A voice spoke as people started to break off into groups, he didn't catch a whole lot about the orientation and grew slightly confused when the middle aged woman spoke. Growing even more confused when something lightly tapped his head and a girl fell to her feet on the ground in front of him. His head bouncing around similar to a startled kitten or confused parrot, wide eyes focusing on the lashing Maikela. Finally noticing it was Sauren who had walked on his head.
"Why... Uhm. Okay" He mumbled, shaking his hand through his hair to try and dissipate the weird feeling of someone stepping on his head. Making his hair a little more messy than before, but now a little less spikey.
Myr watched with amusement as the silent standoff between Luca and Sauren erupted. Before it could be resolved however, a loud voice called their attention to the stage, where a middle-aged woman who introduced herself as headmistress Belda Starling began the orientation.
Unlike some of the others around her, Myr listened to the woman’s words with rapt attention. Not because she was such a rule-stickler, but merely out of lifelong habit to gather as much information as she could, in order to be prepared for everything.
As Belda moved from a history lesson to the rules to how the classes would be, Myr allowed herself a soft groan at the woman’s words. She was out of her comfort zone as it was. She had no interest in ‘cooperation’ or ‘teamwork’. She was here to learn how to control her secondary power, and that was it.
As if it wasn’t bad enough yet, the woman next announced the “Celestial Lunar Festival” which sounded like the exact kind of event Myr would want to avoid at all costs. Judging from the cheers erupting around her, those feelings were not shared by anyone else here. Why would they? Most people here were from the upper classes, where this kind of thing was second nature.
Eventually, the opening speech ended. Belda announced a tour of the school (Myr doubted she would learn anything new, but it didn’t seem like she would have much of a choice) and instructed them to wait to be herded into groups, before thanking them for their attention.
Slowly, the courtyard emptied, until only she and a select few others remained, including the group she had been talking to before. Myr did a quick headcount and ended up at twelve people, including herself. One from each house, unless she was mistaken.
Sauren finally detached herself from her pillar and made her way over, by hopping onto people’s heads. Myr instantly decided that if the Scorpio tried that with her, she would shift her own density and let the girl fall inelegantly to the ground. Maybe Sauren knew this, because she took a different path, one that landed her on Maikela’s head last.
Predictably, the pink-haired heiress wouldn’t let her get away with that, and grabbed Sauren by the back of the neck as soon as she touched the ground. She didn’t go through with her attack though, instead slipping back into her pink facade after a moment’s pause. “Ew! Do you know where your shoes have been?”
Sighing, Myr sulked towards the group gathering around the Pisces woman who would apparently guide her group, trying to look as unapproachable as possible.
A hand lashed out and gripped the back of her neck. After years of honing her reflexes against dune snakes and poison darts, Sauren own hand's sna.tched out and gripped Maikela's wrist, holding onto it with a vice-like grip.
"Eek! My apologies. You startled me!"
Seeing who it was, she was tempted to snap Maikela's dainty wrist right then and there, but considering Maikela had the grace, or sense, enough not to do something horrendously rash in the public eye, Sauren released her grip.
"Ew! Do know where your shoes have been?" Maikela whined with a hint of disgust, wrinking her nose.
"I do. Care for me to share a few ventures?" Sauren asked, raising an eyebrow. Luca took the surprise better than Maikela, or worse, depending on how you wanted to see it.
Myr, the thieving Capricorn, sulked over. Sauren withheld a smirk as Myr attempted the same attitude Sauren accomplished without thought. Unapproachable yet approaching anyway.
Sauren tilted her head at Myr in an ackowledgement of their shared cri.minal histories, thought Sauren doubted Myr would catch the meaning of it. Points for her if she understood it.
"care to venture a guess?" Sauren needed, her lips parted in a taunting expression
Maikela pouted slightly at the response. She playfully stuck her tongue out before her own attention was directed to Myr when she noticed Sauren glancing at the Capricorn.
A giggle softly expelled from her lips as Maikela's mouth twisted into a wry smile, the events that had occured mere seconds ago completely forgotten. "She is absolutely adorable, isn't she?" She candy-haired heiress cooed in a tone hardly above a whisper to Sauren gently. "She's really trying." Maikela clasped her hands in front of herself, swaying lightly on her heels.
Myr watched as the act between Maikela and Sauren played out. Both girls were playing nice in the public eye, while getting their real messages across perfectly.
Myr narrowed her eyes at Sauren as she chittered at Maikela, considering the Scorpio. Unlike Maikela’s dainty manners, Sauren didn’t try to hide behind a pretty face. Perhaps a side effect of growing up in the merciless Scorpio Desert.
Myr had had dealings with the House of Scorpio before, though not with Sauren directly, and she knew Poison Generation ran in that family, though it was a rare trait. Assassins flocked to the desert in great numbers, to coat their weapons in poison and ensure even a failed assassination attempt would prove fatal.
Myr had never dealt with poison suppliers, seeing as they operated on opposite sides of the criminal spectrum. However, she knew there was one infamous Scorpio, well-known for their lethal, high-quality poisons, as well as their mysterious identity. No one had ever been able to find out who they were.
It was very hard to keep one’s identity a full secret, especially when dealing with a large part of the criminal circuit, most of whom were very good at finding out secrets. Unless…one had a very powerful father able and ready to wipe out all their tracks.
Myr smirked as it occurred to her she might have discovered the identity of the infamous poison mixer. It might not be a bad idea to try to get on Sauren’s good side, should she ever decide to change her field of work in the future.
So when Sauren tilted her head in her direction with a knowing look in her eyes, Myr gave her a mischievous smirk of her own in return.
((Me: Sauren's first power isn't an exact secret but it's not common knowledge either due to the abundance of rumors and lack of affirmation
Everyone: *treats it like it is a secret and gets it right on first try*
Me: Sauren notices more things than other people do since she's Scorpio
Everyone: *notices the same things she does*
Me: Sauren is in the illegal trade market
Everyone: WE'RE ALL CRIMINALS WHO ARE VERY OBSERVANT AND KNOW WHAT SAUREN'S FIRST POWER IS
))
"She's absolutely adorable, isn't she?" Maikela twittered in a conspiratory whisper. "She's really trying," she added, clasping her hands in a manner that seemed to indicate Maikela was playing up the sympathy for the Capricorn thief.
"Mmm." You're adorable, Sauren shot back in her thoughts.
The smirk Myr sent back was promising, but it didn't solidify anything... yet. Sauren noticed a thoughtful look in Myr's eyes, the way she regarded Sauren with a new light.
She knows, Sauren thought, turning away from Myr with one last wink, letting her know she knew. It didn't hurt to have some leaks in the information balloon, especially if those leaks served to add a taste of intimidation and obligation towards one's better common sense.
((LOL!
Excuuuuuse yooou. I was the first to do the illegal criminal underworld thing. So, uh, there! Bleh.
Randomly knowing things for plot convience is Maikela's job. XDDDD
I'm not being serious. i just feel like that has to be said because you can't really hear tone of voice online which makes it hard to be scarcastic. Don't worry, ILY all <3))
Maikela noticed the two girls regarding each other, each boasting a small smirk and a wink. The heiress rolled her eyes. "Jeez, get a room." She mumbled under her breath before turning on her heels and walked towards the group of students gathering around the Pisces administrator.
Doing a quick head count, Maikela decided that there was exactly 12 other students. She suppressed a chuckle as she gazed around at the rag tag group.
Wouldn't it be ironic if everyone was from a different house?
The likelihood of that was extremely low, albeit plausbile. Bitting down on her inner lip, Maikela allowed herself some time to think whilst she waited for their silly little "tour" to begin
Doug has a hard time paying attention. It's true that he is very excited about this school thing but it's hard to focus with such overwhelmed excitement combine with the fact that he knows only a little more than halves of these vocabularies and what they meant. Plus Doug was never one to have long attention span. He went through the Principle speech with few more knowledge and a few more amount of excitement. On the dance in particular. "Let's go together!" Doug whispers to the two he already befriended, Kyra and Tirali, not knowing if everyone is suppose to go anyway or not or if the tradition of asking someone out to a much long future dance has any tie to something more than platonic. (When he heard dance he thinks breakdancing) and just like that his attention shifted again than waiting for their answer. The boy bounced in place and still look around. He perked up when Riya returned, a lady who he has mentally assigned as nice now, He was glad that she's the one who going to give him tour as she mentioned when they first met.
Doug was a few fortunate soul who wasn't a victim of Sauren's little antic and even more, miraculously, some how missed the scene entirely. He only caught the tail end of the conversation ("Ew, Do you know where your shoes has been?") with confusion as he has no context from eariler, a confusion that stayed only a 1.5 second before he again shifted his interest elsewhere.
and that where landed on one of the more unapproachable one in their little group, Myr the capricon whom for the life of Doug wouldn't notice any warning spotlight sign and keep out! barrier even if they are as visible as day.
"Hi, I'm Doug What's your name?" He whispers enthusiastically at the taller girl.
((@The Bohemian Critic: Oops, this is my first RP (well, not really, but it is the first one with a little more complexity and layers) and it’s sometimes tricky for me to decide what’s common knowledge and what isn’t.
Myr is in fact very perceptive (as a thief, she has to be) and notices a lot of stuff. But maybe I let her jump to conclusions a bit too quickly, I’ll change some things if it bothers you?))
Sauren turned away after a last wink, leaving Myr thinking that maybe her time at this school wouldn’t be completely wasted after all. She waited for the others to join them and the tour to begin.
“Hi, I’m Doug! What’s your name?” a voice piped up beside her. She looked right and saw a small boy, a few years younger than her. She didn’t recognize him, but his bouncing enthusiasm caused her to take a dislike to him almost immediately. She wasn’t here to make friends, after all.
“Myr,” she said and left it at that, hoping the boy would take the hint and leave her be. She should be so lucky.
Before Maikela had walked over to converse with Luca, she had acknowledged the girl who had previously been in the upper story of the school with them as 'Myr'. Myr had cut off Luca before he had been able to introduce himself, but she turned to Kalden with less recognition.
"But I don't know you." She finished her sentence. The girl seemed to be the first other Earth element sign that Kalden had interacted with at the school. Kalden didn't mind the words themselves; Luca seemed a celebrity, Kalden had no presence outside of the Virgin City. But he wasn't necessarily a fan of the insinuations behind her words, nonetheless.
"Kalden Sternok." Kalden responded simply, tilting his head in a formal greeting by the book. "Pleased to make your acquaintance."
