Tirali felt something run into her, but when she turned around, there was no one there. "H-hello?" She stammered. "A-anyone th-there?" She felt a prickle run down her spine. Was it a ghost? She glanced around nervously, checking if there was anyone nearby who could've bumped into her.

Finally, Kenneth Miller shows

Finally, Kenneth Miller shows a rare sign of defeat. The stubborn man huffed as an answer and turned to his son. Make a not at all subtle gesture around himself, point at his son, then punch his hand "Remember, son" He said then stompedd off without a goodbye to either his son or Riya.

Doug just waved with a grin, He's already a happy kid but that grin seemed like the happiest he's ever been.

Tirali called out to Doug "Are you coming with us? We should probably get there a little early"

Doug smile just become impossibly brigther

"Coming! and thank you, Miss" He said to Riya, with no further explaination what's it about. He leave her to rejoin Tirali and Kyra as the girl continue to talked but as he got there. Tirali suddenly jolted in place and stammering "Hello? Anyone there?" Doug wasn't sure what she meant or what's it about.

Luca's smile returned to his face and he sent a playful glance towards Kalden, searching for something else to talk about before another presence joined them. All three turning to welcome the greeting new face, Maikela quickly responding in kind. Luca giving a tight lipped smile hoping she wouldn't notice too much, but figured he'd introduce himself.

"This is Luca, that is Kalden,-" Maikela pulled Luca's introduction right out of his mouth, a finger pointing towards the owners of the names spoken. A gaze, almost akin to a death glare was sent towards the back of the small girl's head, then softening it as he rose his head up.

'Presumptuous' Luca concluded, pinning the trait to Maikela's name and face, then let the girls interact with odd body language seeping through their whole encounter. Luca's eyes watched the subtle masks that were tossed on when they spoke, and his ears deciphered the practiced tones they sang to one another. Almost like they knew each other, or was at least, very aware of one another. Which then brought up more bubbles in his spider web of thoughts.

'Who exactly are these two'

His emotionless face just glanced at Kalden, morphing into a question and a glance behind himself to remind them of the original task at hand. The two girls seeming done with their greetings, which allowed Luca to step forward with an open smile.

"Aight... I'm.... quite sure we can walk and talk" he sang, still holding a friendly, happy-go-lucky demeanour then went to walk on.

Kalden stayed silent as the Pisces introduced them all to the newcomer. Maikela and Sauren seemed to hit it off with each other fairly quickly, which Kalden thought interesting. Even though they were both Water signs, the two seemed as different as day and night in several regards. The two spoke a few words in a hushed tone, but Kalden was not sure what was being exchanged. Kalden noticed Luca glance his way, perhaps also wondering about the encounter.

Kalden decided not to pay it too much mind as Luca pushed for the group to continue on. Kalden's attention was soon easily captured by other details until the Scorpio spoke up with a question aimed at everyone.

"Have you attended Nysa before?"

"No," Kalden responded after a few moments more of silence. "I didn't even know about such a place until recently."

"Tirali? You ok?" Kyra asked, glancing back at her friend as the crowd of students heading to the center courtyard had begun to thicken. She wondered if someone bumped into the shyer girl. Tanto twittered his own concern, looking over at his new friend's owner from his spot in her backpack.

Maikela could feel the heated stare boring into the back of her skull. She turned slightly just in enough time to watch Luca's facial expressions shift, now boasting his typical charismatic grin.

Maikela offered him a sweet, but apologetic smile. She had just wanted to save them time as they once again picked up the pace, strutting towards the courtyard where they held the orientation.

"Have you attended Nysa before?" Sauren questioned with a polite tone.

""No," Kalden responded after seemingly considering it. "I didn't even know about such a place until recently."

"I can't say that I have, either." Maikela murmured with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

Of course, she was always aware of it. Although her knowledge was very limited There were few things that she was not aware of. Being the daughter of the most popular news station owner had its perks. For every secret Oberon allowed to slip through the cracks, he kept dozens of others. Most he refused to tell even Maikela, claiming that he was waiting for the day she claimed is title to reveal everything. It could be very bothersome.

"Considering that they drugged me, kidnapped me, and imprisoned me to transport me here, my opinion of this place is not exactly favourable." She commented drly, her tone dropped a few notes to its normal level before quickly returning to its previous tone. "If Kalden had not taken it under jurisdiction to interfere, I do not know where I would be currently." She cooed pleasantly with a grateful and semi-flirtatious smile in Kalden's direction.

"Aight... I'm.... quite sure we can walk and talk" Luca said in a sing-song voice, carefully maintaining a nonchalant attitude. She noticed his furrowed brows and glance at Kalden, so he probably wasn't as clueless as the others were. Well, the one other was. He also managed to evade her conversationally boring question, which she found both intriguing and suspicious.

Kalden seemed pretty chill as he said, "No. I didn't even know such a place existed until recently."

"Mmm." Sauren nodded, feigning understanding as she began walking again, letting the others catch up as they pleased.

"I can't say that I have, either," Maikela mused. "Considering that they drugged me--" So that was who the dosage was for, Sauren thought, I wondered why they ordered some from me. She kept her face impassive as Maikela continued her short tirade in dark tones, "--kidnapped me, and imprisoned me to transport me here, my opinion of this place is not exactly favorable." Maikela's tone had now shifted into conversationally normal. "If Kalden had not taken it under jurisdiction to interfere, I do not know where I would be currently," she cooed with a grateful smile at Kalden. Sauren caught underlying layers of flirtation there too.

"How heroic," she said, her tone flat. She continued walking, opening her palm her Dashte to settle, and stroked her ebony carapace with her thumb.

Maikela took note of the look she had received from Sauren but did not give any hint that she understood its meaning. She was well aware of Luca and Kalden’s hidden intelligence, hence why she had been so careful earlier.

Sauren did not seem particularly amused by Maikela’s antics if her offhand comment was anything to go by. But Maikela did not seem to mind. Instead her attention was directed at the small turtle-like creature that took up residence in the older girl’s palm.

She found the creature to be rather cute and regarded it with a warm smile.

I chuckled to myself. Maybe I would enjoy my time here after all. One of the girls asked if the person I had bumped was okay. I bit my lip. You really shouldn't I thought, but i couldn't help it "Are you?" I whispered into their ear.

Sauren acknowledged Kalden's response with a short "Mmm,". Contrasting, Maikela almost casually, but darkly, relayed the information about having been drugged, as well as the kidnapping and imprisonment details she hadn't previously mentioned. The girl's tone perked back up after a moment.

"If Kalden had not taken it under jurisdiction to interfere, I do not know where I would be currently." The girl flashed a cute smile in Kalden's direction, her voice similar, in a far toned-down version, to that she had used with Luca earlier.

"How heroic," Sauren dryly commented about the event. Was Kalden the only one slightly fazed by the situation Maikela had experienced? It wasn't that the mousey-haired boy was unused to being around crime. Aside from petty crime, Virgo was an infamous House for illegal underworld activity thanks to their abilities. Certain areas of The Slums thrived off it. Tech manipulation allowed many to become skillful hackers. Invisibility powers were sought after to perform high-level theft, or quiet assassinations. Even force field users were hired for protection, such as smuggling illegal goods around the continent. But some of Kalden's company seemed surprisingly nonchalant about the discussion of criminal activity. Just who were they all?

"Not a problem," Kalden responded to Maikela, a smile with a mixture of a bashful and slightly puzzled settling his features. He not quite sure how to reply with Maikela's attention directed to him in such a manner. "I just hope such a state doesn't befall you again. I much prefer your company as is."

"Not a problem," Kalden mumbled. Maikela could have sworn she saw the tips of his ears flush red. "I just hope such a state doesn't befall you again. I much prefer your company as is."

A large grin spread across her face as she beamed at the other boy, tyring her best not to look at Sauren smugly. "Aww." She trilled. "I guess that makes two of us." She sang with a wink.

Tirali noticed there was nobody close enough to have run into her, so she relaxed a bit, though still on high alert. Kyra was asking if she was alright. Then a voice beside her whispered, "Are you?" Tirali jumped, but when she turned to see who it was, there was still no one there. But I'm sure I heard someone... Maybe it was just my imagination? she thought. She walked up to Kyra, looking over her shoulder a few times. "I'm fine, I guess. Just... Jumpy." Silverscale squeaked at her, and she stroked his head gently. Her hand was shaking just slightly.

Kyra shrugged, glancing back at the animals. They didn't react to whatever it was that bumped into Tirali so it probably wasn't a threat. Tanto was super protective of his owner after all.

"If anything was a threat to us, Tanto would let us know. He's super protective by nature. It's a griffin thing. Once they consider you part of their group, it's for life. Same thing with Nekomata. If they like you, they'll protect you with their lives." She told her friend, scanning the crowd in what she hoped was a subtle way. She noticed some climbing vine near where they were and reached out to the plant.

"Did any of you see anything? Like who might've bumped into my friend here?" She asked the ivy, earning the plant equivalent of a shrug.

"Sorry miss, so many students. It's hard to say who might've been rude to your friend. It could be a student with invisibility from one of the air houses practicing their power forgetting the rules of the crowd." The ivy replied, Kyra relaying what the plant said to her Tirali.

"I asked the ivy if they saw anything. Unfortunately, it was too crowded. They think it might've been a student with an invisibility power that bumped into you by accident while practicing." Kyra told Tirali, gesturing to the climbing ivy

Dashte caught Maikela's attention, drawing a warm smile from the Pisces girl. Dashte regarded Maikela with beady onyx eyes. Sauren withheld a chuckle, feeling the judgement radiating off her pet's glittering exoskeleton. [Only Sauren is able to detect and understand Dashte's mood/thoughts.] But the scorpion played it up, scuttling back and forth on Sauren's palm, swaying her barbed tail.

Sauren glanced slyly between Maikela and Kalden, but kept her remarks to herself. Maikela avoided her gaze as she pointedly answered Kalden, grinning smugly.

Have your oblivious boyfriend, Sauren thought with glee. I'm fine with just me and Dashte. But the lonely ache in her heart demanded an explanation... and some company. Her face remained impassive as she watched the exchange between the Pisces girl and Virgo boy.

She turned to Luca.

"I think I saw you around a couple weeks ago," she said. He hadn't spoken much since she'd arrived, but with some sleuthy prying and desert charm, Sauren would be able to crack his shell a bit and peer inside his inner workings.

((Ooo I love me some good ol oblivious romance... I'm totally shipping Maikalden...))

((Dashte's in her small scorpion form, fyi. Also, keep in mind that I'm telling anyways some of Sauren's thoughts, but unless otherwise stated, none of the others can read her.))

Luca's expression turned bleak, his thoughts empty as he listened to the Picses answer.

"Considering that they drugged me, kidnapped me, and imprisoned me to transport me here, my opinion of this place is not exactly favourable." This earned a furrowed brow and quick glance to her, his gaze falling to the ground as he thought more about it. Being from Dyeus, they had an odd mix of Law and Military, but they had also helped create the rules for the school. Or at least, what they could get away with legally. His thoughts about the legal inquires of the actions for shifters in particularly began to drown his brain, barely letting him catch the fliteratous exchange between her and the Virgo. But he managed to catch enough of it to let the topic float off in his head.

'Yeesh... Get a room' He thought, glancing back once more at the two, only to realize the Virgo seemed entirely oblivious towards the girl's attempts. So instead of letting the sentence breathe out of his mouth, he decided against it. Stopping at a corner at the sound of the old lady's voice scoulding a young male.

"I think I saw you around a couple weeks ago," The not so recongizable voice from behind spoke, assuming it was for someone else, he continued to stare at the teacher in silence. But a quick look behind him told him it was actually meant for him.

"Oh? How interesting you'd see another student in a school you go to.... I do believe I saw you around within the last couple weeks as well" he spoke in a causal manner, watching as the old teacher's attention was caught by a pair of girls down the hall. The lady's heels making near thunderous steps towards them and a distinct "Go to class" echoed from her mouth. The teen she was dealing with sending his own form of death glare towards Luca as he passed to go to his class. Though earned no reaction from Luca besides the passing friendly stare.

Seeing the hall clear of other people, he continued on. The new hallway they turned down had a wall of lockers and a wall of glass, letting in natural light from the sun. Through the glass you could see the courtyard on the floor below, filling up with teens and some teachers.

'Oh... Right... Wrong floor... Was suppose to go down the stairs and not turn right... My bad... Maybe they won't notice' Luca thought to himself, still walking like nothing was wrong as he silently tried to figure out how to get them inside the courtyard below.

Kalden's words had prompted a very happy reaction from the Pisces. Maikela seemed to sing-song her next words. Kalden wondered about it; he had just been speaking simple words of truth, but the girl beamed at him. She even closed one eye in a wink.

Did I say something humorous? Kalden ran a gloved hand through his hair once as he thought it over more. He was intelligent in many regards, but his interactions with individuals in such a manner had been slim at best. He was struggling to come up with well-thought-out responses to this conversation.

"Glad we're on the same page, then." The teen settled on with a nod of approval in the girl's direction. "We should all be mindful in an institution that utilizes such tactics."

Maikela placed her fan over her lips in an act of muffled laughter in reponse to Luca's scarcastic response. She had always been scolded for laughing at such humour as it was conisdered "unladylike".

Maikela tilted her head as a student passed by, having just been chastised for something he appeared rather disgruntled. She flashed him a friendly smile similiar to Luca's before directing her attention towards Kalden, still as oblivious as always.

"We should all be mindful in an institution that utilizes such tactics." The Virgo had been saying, apparently quite dumbfounded by her comment.

Resiting the urge to roll her eyes, instead responding with a quiet nod. With a small smirk, Maikela shot Sauren a look 'this kid is as thick as a wall'. She mused quietly to herself, turning her head to the large window casing that allowed sunlight to filter into the hallway.

Pausing, Maikela noticed the courtyard below them, new students pouring in for the invitation. Rather than state the obvious, Maikela glanced at Luca.

"Were you planning on having us jump out the window?" She teased him sweetly as she daintily tapped the glass of the window, angling her chin towards the courtyard below.

((XDD. RIP. Maikela will flirt with anyone and everyone. Even Sauren. I am just waiting for the right opening but it will happen.))

Myr | Capricorn

((I’m just gonna plant Myr immediately at the school))

Myr turned a corner, sighing as she made her way down. She had been at this school for a few weeks already, but she had been informed that today would be the official start of the new curriculum, and it began with an orientation. Mandatory attendance for everyone, down in the courtyard.

True to form, Myr had spent the weeks she had already been here learning the lay of the land. Knowing which hallways lead where and what was the quickest way to get where you had to be was essential for a thief. It wouldn’t do to get lost in some huge mansion while on a mission.

So she had left her room a few minutes early, taking the shortest path to the courtyard and smiling a little on the way at the people who obviously hadn’t prepared themselves as well as she. She saw people running completely the wrong way, a look of blind panic on their face. She hadn’t offered them any help. Why should she?

She heard a girlish voice talk nearby. Stopping for a moment to pinpoint her location, Myr moved to stand behind a pillar that she knew would hide her from view if the girl continued on her way to the courtyard. She couldn’t resist peeking at her as she passed, safe in knowing she could see the girl, but not the other way around.

She recognized the girl whose voice she had heard. Maikela Nix. Heiress to the empire her father, Oberon Nix, had built from the ground up. Myr wrinkled her nose in disgust. Maikela was holding a parasol so pink it hurt her eyes, and seemed to be flirting with a boy she didn’t recognize. There were others with them too: Luca Morrison, a famous Dragasus racer; and a girl she recognized as Sauren Kavvyndesh, another girl born into wealth and power. She knew for a fact both girls were involved in their father’s businesses, and neither was completely on the right side of the law. It’s easy to play around in the darker parts of society if you’ve got a powerful father ready to catch you if you misstep.

She wondered why they were here. Shouldn’t they be attending balls and other aristocratic events, where the rich flaunted their wealth for the common folk to gawp and be jealous of? Or maybe their fathers had sent them here under the guise of mastering their powers, while they really intended to form friendships and alliances with other students? After all, everyone here possessed one or more abilities that could certainly be of use for expanding businesses.

She wondered what abilities the four people in front of her had. She had to admit she only knew of one: Maikela was widely known for her Illusion Manipulation. Her thieving instincts warned her that lack of knowledge could be dangerous, and she resolved to figure out the abilities the four people in the group possessed.

I wonder if they have conflicting powers like me? she wondered. From what she’d always been told, it was impossible to have abilities outside of your sign, but she had heard gossip that there was a sudden surfacing of people having different powers than they were supposed to. It hadn’t interested her at first, but since she turned out to be one of those people, it might be good to learn more about these occurrences. She decided to follow the group, the empty, echoing hallways making it easy to trail far behind them and still eavesdrop on their conversation.

So you're the fun type, Sauren thought with sadistic glee at Luca's snide remark. Great. Now she could roast him all she wanted and not care a flippin camel hide about it.

Luca seemed to be paying attention to anyone and everyone but her, and the way they were going to get to the courtyard for orientation. The locker hall was mostly empty, and down below, students were gathering and teachers were reconvening.

"I know a faster route," Sauren said curtly, brushing past Luca. She started off in a spring, heading for the end of the hall where a doorway to a viewing balcony was. She opened the double doors and gestured everyone to join her on the balcony.

"If anyone has a ridable pet, go ahead and let me know," Sauren said, setting Dashte on the railing. "Whenever you're ready, my friend," she told her scorpion. Dashte clicked her pincers in acknowledgement. With a deep, throaty growl, Dashte merged into a lion-sized manticore, minus the human face, replaced with the regular lion's face.

"Dashte can only seat two, but she can fly with up to four. Which means two will need to hold on for dear life," Sauren said, eyeing them all. She knew she wouldn't offer Luca a seat behind her; he already had a ride, anyhow. Perhaps Maikela, to help move their alliance along, but it'd be cruel to force Kalden to dangle a good 185 meters in the air. It would be satisfying to see Miss Pretty-in-Pink dangling from Dashte's claws... And the other girl that was trying and failing to discreetly follow them.

You have the most unique ways of keeping alliances, her father's voice echoed in her mind, reminding her of the time she once threatened to drown her cohort if he didn't quit babbling about his undying love for her. He couldn't be permantly silenced, unfortunately, seeing as how he was their best pickpocket and runner.

"That one already has a ride," she said, pointing at Luca while looking at the girl she recognized as Myr. "But you're free join us if you wish." After a lifetime of listening for every little breath of air, the muted thump of feet on the sand dunes, it was pretty easy to hear footsteps in these halls.

((Yeah, he's only been there for a few weeks. No races at the school tho, that was when he was at home.. Oh and Luca's horse is in her stables....))

Luca let a laugh seep from his lips as Kalden responded to Maikela, giving the guy a pitty smile.

"Oh my gods mate.." He chuckled, deciding to just shake his head and continue walking. Maikela quickly digging up his confusion with her comment.

"Were you planning on having us jump out the window?" She spoke, earning a knowing smile from Luca, but Sauren raced ahead to show them the belcony, explaining her creature's ability and what they'd have to do.

"Or we could just take the slide" He stated, pointing behind him to a wall he knew all too well. But he let the others choose what they wished to do.

"I know a faster way." Sauren interjected and began to lead the group down a corridor.

Maikela glanced around, noticing a flash of green hair from the corner of her eye. With the smile still plastered on her face, Maikela followed the Scoprio down the empty hall. The next time they rounded a bend, she noticed it again. A flash and then nothing. To literally anyone else, it would have been a trick of the light. Or a misconception. Not to Maikela's trained eye. No. Someone was following them.

"If anyone has a ridable pet, go ahead and let me know," Sauren lead them to a balcony, throwing the doors open.  "Dashte can only seat two, but she can fly with up to four. Which means two will need to hold on for dear life. But you are free to join us if you wish." She directed at their follower.

So she does know. Good. I don't have to say anything Maikela mused as Sauren and Luca bantered. Smiling to herself, Maikela shrugged and approached Sauren "I'll find a way down on my own, thank you for the offer." She purred, snapping her fan closed and hooking it to her belt

"If you so insist," Your highness, Sauren said, outwardly nonchalant. Luca seemed set on taking his own route, so perhaps today she wouldn't see anyone scream for their lives. What a bummer, but Sauren knew better than to mope. That had been beaten out of her by age 4. Rezshei brokered no argument when it came to his ideals and daughter.

"Kalden? Wanna have some fun?" There was nothing more fun that ripping off a potential pair. She'd been the devious mastermind behind many distrastrous and humilating breakups.

Luca gave a half roll of his eyes to the girl, about to mention his dragasus was in her stables, but the topic had seemed to move on.

"You know... I remember the DA saying something bout not having large ridable pets inside the school... Most certainally not to be riden on during school hours" He commented, then glanced down where the head of the school was gathering students.

"You sure you wanna play that card so close?" He sang, arms crossed and head tilted.

Myr followed the quartet to a balcony, where Sauren revealed her pet, a hand-sized scorpion which grew to the size of a lion in the blink of an eye. Apparently, they realized the quickest way to the courtyard was straight down.

Tharn was where he always was, snuggled safely around her upper arm. He couldn’t change into anything bigger than he was, but then, sailing through the air and attracting the attention of anyone with eyes wasn’t really her style anyway.

And speaking of attracting attention…

It seemed she had been spotted, as Sauren directed a comment in her general direction, inviting her to join them. As if she would show herself now. Sloppy. A few weeks of not having to work for her food had made her lax. She would have to practice somehow, keep her skills up. But in the meantime she decided to stay where she was rather than make a quick escape, and see what Maikela would do. The girl had just politely declined a ride down on Sauren's manticore, and was turning back into the building.

After all, Maikela didn’t have her father behind her now, and Myr had technically not done anything wrong. All she had done was follow the group, and if she wanted to, she could easily spin it so that she just happened to follow the same route they did. So she waited, leaning comfortably against the wall with her arms crossed.

And if things turned heated, she always had a few tricks up her sleeve.

Luca went to counter the statement but closed his mouth instead, looking through his library of words in his head for the right one to pin to Sauren.

'Supercilious' He settled on, then found another word to better replace it.

'Pompus'  He thought, final on the trait and etched it into the girls features, this trait now claimed by the girl in Luca's mind. Another presence had made itself known to the girls, their body language giving away the other's position. Snapping his head to the person a ways away.

Kalden Sternok | Virgo

Kalden casually peered over the balcony that Sauren had led the group to. The drop here was lower than Kalden usually ventured down in his own territory. Kalden was used to essentially clinging to the sides of a cliff face, where structures jutted outwards from a range of dozens of feet to dozens of stories into the air in a collage of various ways. Some areas in the under-city didn't even have railings, relying almost solely on sturdy Virgo-crafted contraptions and construction underfoot instead. Many Virgo children were self-taught from a young age to rock-climb without gear. They knew how to navigate both natural Earth and man-made infrastructure, if only for the sake of shortcuts to higher platforms during busy days when the walkways were crowded, or escaping with goods stolen from street merchants. If one didn't have good footing or balance, the upper areas of The Slums were not for those without a head for height.

So the height itself, provided he had stability, didn't bother Kalden at all. However, the idea of being suspended mid-air with nothing but an animal beneath was new to him. He eyed the shape-shifting creature as Sauren offered the other seat of the animal to him.

"If you don't mind, then why not," He complied in response to the Scorpio.

Luca hummed, and decided to step back, going towards the wall he knew and pushed it open, revealing a slick flooring and dimly lit light bulbs at the top.

'Trash chute? She's been here longer than me and she doesn't even know the secret tunnels?' he thought to himself, glancing back to the others before falling inside. Sliding down in a large spiral and slowing himself as he neared the end, quickly pushing open the other wall and popping out behind a pillar in the courtyard. Looking up towards the balcony where the others were.

"If you don't mind, then why not?" Kalden replied. Sauren nodded, gesturing for Kalden to mount up behind her. Sauren watched with a mischevous eye as Luca followed what he believed to be a secret slide. She'd given him fair warning and simultaneously blown him off her scent.

Little did he know that the tunnel entrances changed every three months, some staying the same, others swapping with known locations. Tunnel doors even appeared and rearranged themselves on student maps. But it was up to the student to find out the tunnel's final destination, something the Dean had taught her last year. The tunnel doors always switched locations on the first day of school. Next time Luca tried his secret tunnels, he would have quite the surprise.

First prank of the year, Sauren thought with malovelent glee. Turning to Kalden, she told him, "Hang on," before Dashte lunged off the balcony railing. They stalled in the air, Dashte's wings full extended, before gravity took over their mass and pulled them downwards. Dashte flew close to the building wall, and Sauren latched their gravity to the vertical sides of the structure, letting Dashte safely run full-throttle down the side of the tower. Sauren leaned back against Kalden behind her, her body almost parallel to Dashte's, as the manticore continued down. They both would've preferred Dashte run vertical as a Kelpie, but her hooves would've broken something on the way down. At least the manticore's paws were large and soft.

Kalden hesitantly mounted the manticore behind Sauren. Luca had disappeared during the last minute, and Maikela and the newcomer seemed to have alternative ways to descend.

Kalden's stomach lurched for a moment as the animal beneath him jumped right over the balcony after Sauren's brief warning. This barely gave Kalden enough time to figure out how to politely hold on to Sauren. The three stayed suspended in mid-air for a moment before Kalden felt the pull of gravity in his stomach. He clamped his jaw so as not to grit his teeth during the first few moments of jarring descent.

However, the feeling soon disappeared. It seemed as if they were running alongside the structure behind them, almost no different than if the manticore was running along the ground on the Earth below.

Huh, Kalden thought, temporarily alarmed by her power display. His body was stiff due to the weird shift in gravity, additionally, he was not used to touching others, and Sauren was leaning back to him as her pet ran down the wall.

Kalden managed to suck in a breath, relax his body, and loosen his grip as he got used to the short journey downwards.

Maikela straightened out the hems of her jacket, smoothing out invisible wrinkled with her palm. She took a breath then pressed her hands against the rim of the balcony, hoisting herself up on to. She gazed down at the periless drop below, biting her lip slightly. It wouldn't do to have the others aware of her... talents. Her father's secrecy was at jeopardy if anyone else knew that she was not just some ditzy heiress. Looking back across the balcony Maikela observed her options.

The courtyard lay sprawled below them, students mingling together and chatting amongst one another. A roof sloped along the edge, next to a metallic support pillar that held up the balcony.

Maikela closed her eyes. She leaned forward. Her form flickered. She then disappeared entirely just as the fell off the edge, vanishing into nothingness

Sauren Kavvyndesh Σ Scorpio

Dashte began to slow her pace as they neared the base of the tower. With a terrific leap powered by muscular haunches, Dashte landed not far from the growing; crowd of students. She trotted to a complete stop and laid down on her stomach, letting Sauren and Kalden off.

The adrenaline of the ride, however brief, flushed Sauren's cheeks with excitement, her hair windblown and somewhat disheveled.

"Here we are," Sauren announced, sliding off Dashte's already shifting back. She kneeled and held out her hand, letting Dashte scuttle across her extended hand, up her arm, and onto her shoulder where she stayed out of sight, and therefore out of mind.

"What'd you think?" Sauren asked, not so much out of sympathy than conversational motive, as it seemed the nice thing to do after such a ride. Kalden was a nice boy; nice to a fault, it seemed.

And I still didn't fly, Sauren thought smugly, spotting Luca arrive from the tunnel ending.

"Orientation begins soon. Best find yourself a good napping spot," Sauren said, deciding to part ways with Kalden for now. She waved over her shoulder as she disappeared into the crowd, a skill she'd learned when training for intel-recon for her father's missions.

"Miss Kavvyndesh," a soft voice purred behind her.

Sauren twisted around at the familiar tones. "Dean Mavery," she said with a forced smile.

"I hope that wasn't Dashte I just saw," he said with a raised eyebrow.

"Maybe, maybe not," Sauren said with a sly smirk. Out of sight, out of mind

"I was hoping last year would've tampered your desert hobbies," the Dean said with a patronizing smile.

"When you discover how much fun rulebreaking is, I may consider breaking a few less rules on campus," Sauren retaliated with a wink, re-disappearing into the crowd again. There was talk of Sauren's notorious desert "hobbies". It was one of the main school gossip topics, something Maikela would definitely want to get her hands on once she caught wind of it.

Let the rumors run wild, Sauren thought with a self-pleasuring grin as she walked up a discreet pillar as casually as one would up stairs. She pocketed gravity to the side of top of the pillar, lying along its length. To onlookers, it looked like invisible bonds were chaining her to the pillar, and in all fairness, it was true. But those bonds were of Sauren's own making and mastermind.

Ever since she had been discovered using gravity tilting, her father had secluded her from the others, adults and children alike except on nights of Ecstacy. Rezshei kept everyone in the dark about both of her powers for two particular reasons. First, it did one good to have a surprise counterattack, which would be Sauren in this case, and second, the allure of rumors and uncertainty was something Rezshei couldn't resist, especially when he ruled the desert dunes and the Scorpio syndicate. True Scorpios knew what she was capable of, but many other signs she came across assumed her main power was sand bending, snake charming, or something related, not something as deadly or lethal as poison infusion.

As she got older, Rezshei loosened the reins of her second power, letting it build the foundation of Sauren's renown and reputation. Now, all she was known for was her gravity shifting. And both and she and Rezshei preferred it like so. That way, when one encountered Sauren's poison capabilities, no one would be the wiser.

Shifting gravity took its toll, however.

Many pegged it as an odd addiction, others thought there was somehting chronicly wrong with her natural center of balance. The desert apothecaries thought her body wasn't made for normal gravity, like everyone else was. And those mumbling old fools weren't far from the truth. Ever since Sauren could remember, she'd always had the haunting feeling of vertigo, though the apethecaries labeled it dizziness at the time. When she finally discovered her second power, she'd never felt better as she ran on the undersides of bridges and up the sides of crumbling ruins.

Rezshei was releived when Sauren finally found a solution to her constant vertigo. He had been worried he would've had to dispose of her had she continued in such a seemingly uncurable, and unhelpful, condition.

Now that she'd been doing it for the past deacde and a half, her vertigo had vanished almost entirely, but one could never be too cautious. Sauren would collapse from a surge of vertigo at random, but thankfully, those only seemed to happen every other couple of months. Sauren secretly carried a stash of almonds and has ginger tea twice daily in private in her room. That and lemon water.

((What is the Dean's gender?))

((Edit: I'ma make him boy because I can mwahahahaha plus he's something of an older brother to her, you know, an uncorrupted--so far--role model of sorts. I've kind of taken the liberty to fabricate a non-romantic history of the two during last year's school period))

"Ohhh, whew. That makes sense. I thought it was a ghost or something." Tirali said with a light laugh, a bit embarrassed about her overreaction. "I wonder who it was though? Maybe we'll see them at orientation. Do you find it helpful to be able to talk to plants?" Wow, I'm talking too fast. Still a bit shaken up... I don't think I'd like being in an area with someone who randomly turns invisible to scare people.

Kyra shrugged, glancing at the plant as they made their way into the courtyard.

"Sometimes, it depends on the plant though. Some plants like creepers, roses, lilies and birds of paradise flowers are more intelligent than others. Pro tip - unless you want to end up talking about the weather all day, do not talk to wild sunflowers or weeds like daffodiles." Kyra replied, Tanto twittering agreement as he "discussed" what happened with his new dragon buddy. She looked up in time to see what she could've sworn was a mantiore fly into the courtyard. She had seen Manticore in zoos before - the human faced, scorpion tailed lions always gave her the creeps. She tried a riddle challenge with one of the zoo ones once and barely passed. She made a mental note to stay on the manticore rider's good side. Even tame manticore used as mounts were easily offended. Especially if you called them "pets". They preferred the term "companions" when they were tame. She asked one at the zoo once and they confirmed since it had been a pet before it got too big for it's humans to handle

((I honestly don't have a huge preference for the gender. I'll say woman for now, unless someone wants it different for a story reason or such.))

Kalden unmounted after Sauren, her pet soon shapeshifting back into its smaller form. Kalden's thick hair was windswept, the locks loosely tangled back.

"What'd you think?" Sauren questioned after things had taken a moment to settle.

"Very... fast." Kalden said after a moment of thought, an uncomfortable feeling in his hands. "I thank you for the ride."

It was certainly a quick mode of travel, but not something Kalden would rush back to try again anytime soon, especially from any greater height. He still heavily preferred solid structures, and having his feet on the predictable ground once again was wonderful to the Earth sign.

"Orientation begins soon. Best find yourself a good napping spot," The other turned, soon lost in the crowd.

Kalden let loose a large breath as the two departed, closing his eyes in concentration. Luckily the ride was fairly gentle in terms of physical shock, the only huge impact he had received was when the creature jumped to the ground. The Virgo rubbed his gloved fingers together for a few moments, dissipating the energy threatening to escape.

After successfully departing the energy back into the environment, Kalden sighed. He ran practiced hands through his hair, pushing it, aside from some stray strands, back into mostly the same style as before.

Finally somewhat comfortable in my surroundings, I watched my hands as I slowly saw the color returning to them. I scurried over to the side so it didn't seem like I appeared out of nowhere, after all there were a lot of kids. I scooted along the wall, hoping to not be too noticeable.

Luca watched as the giant mutlianimal creature landed, shifting into the more unnoticable creature and hiding somewhere on Sauren's person. A short exchange between the previous riders lead to the female parting her way, and left the barely shakened male to recover himself. The gloved fingers running through the light brown hair in attempts to fix it had caused an odd shiver to crawl down Luca's spine. Needing to shake away the blush that started heating up his cheeks at the features of Kalden.

'Nah.. I don't.. Think... I.. Go that way. No' He thought to himself. Darting his eyes everywhere but the other male in search of another topic to fill his web of thoughts. Then remembered Maikela and the other girl that were still left on the floor above. Luca's feet took him Kalden's side as he stared at the belcony he came from.

"What you think Maikela and that other girl are doing to get down?" He cooed, head slightly tilted as he tried to look for the two girls.

Still under the cloak of her illusions, Maikela leapt through the air.
Her feet hit the side of the slanting roof, sending her off balance.
Maikela twirled her parasol around, wedging the handle into the place where the wooden joints met. She held on to it as she skidded off the roof, her legs dangling over the emptiness below.
Catching her breath, Maikela hooked her legs around the beam and unhooked the parasol.

Gather her strength, she launched herself from one pillar to another before landing on the main circular beam that supported the balcony.
Maikela gripped the beam then inverted, hooking her leg over the pole. She loosened her grip on her hands and let go, hanging upside by her single hooked knee.
Rolling her shoulders back, Maikela reached down, re-gripping the pole and tensing the muscles along her back and shoulders.
She let go of her leg and lowered herself down, hooking her knee once more. She repeated the process, essentially cartwheeling down the side of the pole and silently thanking her step mother for the pole dancing classes.
Smiling to herself, Maikela straightened out her clothing then walked into the crowd of new students

Luca's bright red and white hair stood out among the crowd. So Maikela made her way over towards the male.
"Hello." She smiled cheerily as she shattered the illusion of invisibility around her, reappearing out of thin air and startling a few of the students around her.

((Aight I am gonna be honest.
Pole dancing is not as bad as a lot of people seem to think it is. I have done classes for like a year now and it's so much more about strength and discipline than anything else...
And that is my TED Talk for today lol!))

As Kalden finished tidying himself up, a glance out of the corner of his eye alerted him of Luca walking over to join him. The other male's eyes were diverted, already looking upwards as he settled at Kalden's side.

"What you think Maikela and that other girl are doing to get down?" Luca asked in his usual cool tone that Kalden had grew to know in their short time together.

Kalden squinted as he followed the Saggitarius' eye line. Although Kalden had gotten more accustomed to the brighter climate in his several-day journey with Riya, he still waited for a moment for his eyes to adjust to the vibrant natural light of the sky.

"I'm not sure," Kalden said, shoving his hands into his pockets. "But I can't imagine anything flashier than the manticore scaling down the side of the school. I guess we'll see." A bit of laugher crept into his tone at the end.

He barely finished the sentence when Maikela appeared next to Luca with a greeting. Kalden stared deadpan out of surprise, but that surprise almost entirely stemming from the fact that he wasn't expecting Maikela to use an invisibility tactic. If from any other house, perhaps he would have been more shocked, but being from Virgo territory, when around a third of the population turned invisible, he had been startled far worse before by a person randomly reappearing.

((a few singers/dancers I like incorporate it into their music, it's a very amazing artform. the amount of strength and balance needed is probably a ton, so kudos to you.))

Luca chuckled at the comment, and thought about the creature.

"How was that?" He sang, not able to recieve an answer as the short cotton candy haired girl appeared beside them with a simple hello. Causing Luca's already spiky hair to straighten completely up, now appearing more like a spooked long haired kitten.

"Oh gods..." He breathed out, slightly jumping from the girl, quickly darting his head from her to the belcony above.

"Well, arent you just the cutest thing." She teased him with a smirk, coiling her finger around a lock of her own hair.

"Don't think I felt like this since I went to Virgin City....." He mumbled again, though had hoped no one heard as he didn't quite know why he even spoke out loud.

With a knowing smile she casually stretched out her arms. "Ahh, you guys are a blast." She hummed, her tone one again dropping a few octaves to a more normal pitch. However it was quickly diverted back to that ditzy tone she typically uses. "Perhaps this place wont be as atrocious as I had presumed."

Kalden stood back as the two companions spoke to one another, crossing his arms, trying to remember the third power a Pisces could possess. Riya had animation and empathy, but neither of those would explain Maikela's stunt. Kalden had a good memory, but it still took a moment to sort through thirty-six powers and remember which went to each specific House off the top of his head. He shook his head, settling on Maikela utilizing illusions, though it didn't explain how she actually descended a full story. It did, however, all seem somehow fitting, she was kind of unpredictable, more than he knew.

Kalden eyed her hair, beginning to wonder if it was real.

Before his thoughts could wander too much down a random road, his ears perked up at the mention of his city once again. Luca seemed somewhat disgruntled by the situation. Kalden's red-brown eyes tried to read the other young man. He wondered what it was about his hometown that seemed to strike the wrong chord with the Sagittarius. There were many things it could be.

"The whole place is something to get used to, even when you're born there," Kalden said sympathetically, but he kept his response low and discreet so as not to dredge too far into an unwanted subject. He left the sentence open-ended in case the other would rather move on to another topic.

Tirali listened as Kyra described the most interesting plants to talk to, although she was a bit distracted by Silverscale and Tanto squeaking and chittering to each other. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed a flash of color appear by a wall. She looked over and saw someone that looked to be a fellow student, somewhat shorter than average. She was scooting along the wall and appeared to be trying not to be noticed. Interesting that trying not to be noticed makes you more likely to be seen, she noted to herself. She glanced ahead in time to see a strange creature flying overhead. I know I've seen that kind of creature before, but where? Then she remembered; it was a manticore, legendary creatures that were both respected and feared. She wondered who the owner was and which House they belonged to, probably one related to the desert or heat, she guessed. She knew it wasn't a good idea to get on the wrong side of a manticore or its rider, as both were generally not friendly.
