Malik and his companions looked around as the tent was suddenly cast into darkness, with only a candelabra lighting the large space towards the center of the arrangement. Arcana seemed to disappear as well, with her voice oddly coming from the left as she departed to begin the show.

Malik smiled, awaiting the performance to come.

After an extended pause, a heavy silence fell over the ring. It was profound and thick with a suspenseful tension, not even broken by the sound of rustling clothes or footsteps on the sand. The only source of light emanated from the flickering candle, the flame dancing and casting short shadows over the wooden table.

Then, all of a sudden the silence was shattered.

The sound of someone clicking their fingers pierced the silent veil

Roaring fires leapt up from seemingly out of no where,  crackling flame extending all along the outer ledge of the arena.

This illuminated Arcana’s figure as she stood within the billowing flame, cane clutched in one hand and what appeared to be a journal in the other. The pin that Denva had bestowed glittered almost malignantly in the firelight.

"Castles of old," Arcana began in a booming tone, her voice commanding attention and sense of graduer, "stone molded and placed generations ago by our ancestors. If their walls could talk, what horrifying tales do you think they would reveal? How much blood has stained their mortar? How many souls do you suppose roam their twisting corridors, forever lost- never to be found." She smirked sullenly. "They say that castles all across the land are haunted by lost spirits, their anguish and grief persisting through the floors on which their very blood was split.... or the fires by which their bodies were burnt. You can only imagine the phantoms that haunt the walls of the oldest castle in our lands, the castle who we currently reside under." Arcana’s smirk only grew as she gestured to the direction where the main castle stood.

Plucking up her cane, Arcana stood a step forward, her voice now taking on a softer and much more eeire tone. She rasied a hand towards the fire, slowly lowering it.

As she did so, the fire flickered before dissipating entirely, leaving a human-sized gateway in the wall of flame. It really did help to have someone who could control fire as part of her troupe. She stepped through, now standing directly before her audience.

"One of you, in particular,  I sense has a deeper connection with one of the spirits that haunt this castle." She hummed, her blue gaze landing on Denva. "Denva. Please turn and face Malik, join hands... and close your eyes. Malik, make sure that her eyes are indeed closed."

Malik cocked his head in interest as Arcana walked forward from a doorway of fire.

"One of you, in particular, I sense has a deeper connection with one of the spirits that haunt this castle." Arcana continued, looking at the jewelry maker. However, it was the ringleader's next words that further caught Malik's attention.

"Denva. Please turn and face Malik, join hands... and close your eyes. Malik, make sure that her eyes are indeed closed."

Malik shrugged in compliance with the request, turning towards Denva with a smile. He held out his hands, palms up, waiting for the other to participate at her own pace.

Denva followed Arcana's instructions, turning to Malik, taking the Tideseeker's hands in hers. She blushed a little. He couldn't be much older than she was - maybe a few years? Too bad she wasn't even 17 yet. That birthday was tomorrow. He was good looking. She closed her eyes as Arcana instructed. She'd seen this act before, but she'd never been a participant. She wondered what was about to happen.

Arcana's expression took on a more playful lilt as she noticed Denva's slightly flustered expression.

How cute.

"I am going to test the strength of your connection, my dear." Arcana informed Denva, breifly waving her hand in front of the jeweler's face to make sure that she was entirely unable to see. "I want you to focus on your surroundings. Feel the ground beneath your feet, the weight of Malik's hand in your own. Concentrate on the phsyical sensations around you. This will allow any spirits who may be trying to contact you to demonstrate their presence and embew you with mystical energy." Then she moved to Malik and reached over, gently tracing a finger from his forehead to his nose.

The flirtatious undertones of the action aside, Arcana simultaneously and subtly used her powers to manipulate a small pocket of gravity that mimmicked her action on Malik to Denva. This simulated sensation of being touched without Arcana ever actually having to lay a single hand on the jeweler or be even near her. "Tell me, Denva. Did you feel anything there? If so, please describe it."

Denva placed her hands atop Malik's. Malik focused on her face, briefly noticing a slight pink tinge despite the darkness, but focused his attention on her eyes as he had been instructed. As Arcana spoke, she waved her hand over Denva's face to ensure the fact that the later had complied. As Arcana spoke, she neared to Malik's side, despite her words being directed at the younger girl.

At the end of Arcana's sentence, she lightly touched Malik's face. Her finger traced across the skin from his forehead to the tip of his nose. Under other circumstances, Malik may have commented about the action, but instead settled on a silent smirk.

However, he did wonder what the action had been for. His dark eyes regarded the closed-eyed Ridgestrider across from him, waiting to see what she would explain.

Denva shuddered, feeling a trickle of energy down her spine. She felt it like a drop of cold water on a rainy day that got past her umbrella.

"It's...like a raindrop that got past my umbrella, cold going down my spine, but in a good way. Like a rainstorm after a long stretch of heat. A welcome relief." Denva reported, wondering what Arcana was doing. She didn't have to be a mana user to sense it. It was palpable even to her limited magical sense. All ability users had some sense of magic. Even Ridgestriders like herself. She wondered if the Tideseeker felt it too. She wanted to ask, but that would ruin the moment.

Arcana was unaware of Denva's magical inclinations, but that surprised her. Deva was supposed to describe the sensation of the hair-thin pocket of slightly denser gravity trailing down her forehead to her nose. Not the effects of Arcana’s magic. Which could only mean one thing.

Arcana did not allow any of these thoughts to cross her face, instead she pnly smiled as though that were supppsed  to happen as part of the show a as though Denva had somehow empathically connected to Malik and felt the same things he was feeling.

"Good, now." Arcana flicked Malik's nose, almost in retaliation to the smirk he was giving her. At the same time, she used her powers to mimick the action onto Denva nose without physically flicking her. It was a more noticeable action and more obtrusive so Arcana hoped that she would be able to feel kt that time "And that?"

Malik listened to Denva's description. Somehow he wasn't expecting her words, though he wasn't sure what he had been anticipating, either. Her illustration was oddly specific, and it didn't seem like she was making it up to go along with the show. Malik suddenly felt like a lot more was occurring under the circus tent than he initially believed.

However, Arcana seemed to not find this odd, as she just smiled in response. Before Malik could think more about the situation, he felt a flick on his nose. The action was more outright than the earlier brush down his face. He fought the urge to bring a hand up to the spot, instead leaving them connected to Denva's. The Tideseeker also kept his gaze set on Denva, with her eyes still closed so that she couldn't have witnessed the action.

Denva giggled as something flicked her in the nose. She knew that had to be part of the act. So she just rolled with it.

"That felt like when my mom flicks my nose for forgetting to do my schoolwork because I got a new idea for a piece of jewelry." Denva commented, rolling her eyes under her closed lids at the sensation

Pearl brightens up at the thought of a library. "Oh, thank you! I'd love that! And don't worry, Midnight won't make a mess at all" she says happily. "Could I please go and have a look now?" she asks eagerly.

Terra walks along through the park just outside the city, smiling as she watches Trico, a three-tailed fox and her closest companion, playfully bounce after some butterflies. The two stop to rest at the top of a hill, overlooking the city and the royal palace. "Ooh, a circus! That would be nice to go and watch" the girl says, pointing to the tents. Trico tilts her head as she looks towards the circus, then looks up at Terra sternly. She presses two word into the girl's mind: "Big announcement." Terra smiles "Oh, don't worry, I know. We won't miss it, promise. We're part of the palace 'staff' after all, we have to be there. I ment we could go sometime after the announcement" she tells the fox. Trico grins and wags her tails. Terra grins. "Good. Now, let's head back, shall we?" Trico whines, clearly having too much fun. Terra forms a ball out of the nearby soil, making it soft enough to not damage Trico's mouth, but firm enough to bounce and be bitten. "I'll throw this for you if we head back" she cooes, before adding "There's no rush, we just shouldn't stay out here for hours." Trico yaps and flattens herself to the ground, then chases after the ball as Terra throws it. The girl laughs and follows her friend as they slowly make their way back down the hill-side.

"Certainly," Demitri said indifferently, turning to lead Pearl down the hall. There was still time yet in the day before he would have to head to the grand room. And despite Demitri's cool exterior, he was always rather happy to introduce people to the library and vast knowledge it held. He was certainly in awe the first time he had stepped foot inside, and was still often inwardly enthralled by it.

After ensuring that Pearl and Midnight were following along, the librarian made his way down the hallway to the familiar wooden doorway that marked the library's entrance.

"Here we are." He said, lightly pushing on one of the large doors, the door hardly making a noise as it inwardly rolled on its hinges. Demitri stepped back so that Pearl could enter first and take a look for herself.

Arcana felt relieved to see that Denva had complied that time. It would be embarassing if the very first stunt had failed. She smiled and chuckle, knowing that it appeared as though Denva was feeling the same things as Malik.

"I see." She hummed and extended the hand holding the journal towards Denva. "You may open your eyes. Please take this journal in your left hand and follow me into the ring."

With that Arcana, took Denva by the hand and began to gently guide her through the firey gate. "Legends have said that spirits of old stalk the halls and chambers of our ancient castles... it is said to be good luck to see a ghost for a performer. For others... it is an omen of death."

Denva looked down, taking the book in her hand as she stood up, following Arcana into the ring and through the firey warmth of the gates. She wondered what Arcana wanted her to do now. That thought crossed her mind even though she had seen this stunt before several times over the years. However, the events changed for each participant - no doubt to keep it as realistic as possible and to add to the thrill of the show. She knew the legends of ghosts and spirits as well as anyone. Actually, one time when she visited the castle for a party, she'd bumped into the ghost of a former jester who helped her back to the main hall when she got lost on her way back from the ladies room. He told her that he liked to hang around to see how his grand kids were doing when she asked why he hadn't moved on. That, and he liked to censored people at the anual spirit festivals for kicks. Of course, she hadn't known Mr Ortiz had been a ghost at the time until she asked a guard about him and the man explained he'd d.ied about 40 years ago.

As Arcana led Denva away to the center, Malik shifted into the position he had been sitting in before the scenario he had been pulled into had begun. One of the merchant's legs was propped up over his other knee, and he casually bore most his weight on one arm resting on the seat behind him. The whole air he gave off was 'moderately interested', but his wine-colored eyes were as sharp as ever as he gazed at the scene ahead.

The blond suddenly felt a flick on his shoulder, followed by a very soft, stifled snigger. Mira had slid closer and looked at him teasingly after his previous interaction. Malik rolled his eyes, but didn't hide a grin.

"Shaddup," He mouthed back at her, almost inaudibly, both of their eyes looking back at the scene before them.

Pearl steps through the door and stares in wonder at the huge hall with bookshelves lining the walls. She slowly walks into the room, turning her head as she tries to see as much as possible. When she finally looks back at Demitri, her eyes are sparkleing and she's grinning. "It's amazing" she whispers, hardly daring to speak louder for fear of ruining the moment.

the fire around the ring cut out entirely,  leaving the only light in the tent to be the onr given off by the flickering candelabra placed ominously on the table.

"Please, take a seat." Arcana motioned from Denva to sit down at the table.

She herself took a seat directly across from Denva.

The candle casted long dancing shadows over the circus walls, flickering over the pile of sketches that lay scattered across the top of the table. Each sketch appeared to have been done by a master of their craft, as the portraits were done to perfectly preserve every detail of their faces. Each sketch depicted a different person and there had to be at least 20.

"Each of these sketches are copies taken from the portraits of people who have died over 100 years ago." Arcana’s hushed and serious tone still somehow managed to reach the audience with crystal clarity.

One doesn't need something like microphones when one has someone who can manipulate vibrations and thusly increase or decrease the impact of the sound as all sound is created from vibrations anyhow.

"I would like you to gather up all of the sketches and hold them in your palm, face down. Then I would like you to count these sketches face down onto the table. One at a time. As you place them down you will feel a connection to one... and when you feel that connection i would like you place that sketch gave down into this ash tray." She gestured to the metal tray slightly off to the left before leaning back and giving the go-ahead for Denva to begin.

Pearl stepped in before Demitri, looking around in fascination, eyes taking in the numerous shelves and books within them. Her reaction was similar to many others. Demitri didn't show it, but he was glad she enjoyed the place. While much of the library layout was the same as it had been left to when he became the librarian, he took it upon himself to keep it up and even improve the place in other ways.

"There are many sections," Demitri said, following through the doorway. "So I'm sure many could find something that strikes their fancy in here."

Denva looked over the images, recognizing most of the sketches from her childhood in the palace. She looked them over as she picked them up. She wondered what she was supposed to feel as she picked up the images, putting them face down in her left hand. As she started to place the images face down, she felt like one was callng to her, like it was trying to say something. She put that image in the ash tray face down as instructed. She looked up at Arcana, setting the other sketches face down on the table.

"Now what happens?" She asked, glancing up at Arcana. She felt the change in the air as the other woman spoke. She wasn't sure what kind of power Arcana had, but it was clearly useful for performances like this

the light flickered ominously with every drawing she placed down, until finally Denva had set one into the ashtray.

"Now what?" Denva asked.

Arcana did not speak a word. Instead she merely smiled and clasped her hand over Denva's,  gently touching her palm to the ash tray. She maintained the enthralling and slightly creepy ambiance of the performance with extended pauses and soft spoken words.

"Each of the drawings depicted someone different but you were drawn to this one... and you don't know why. Please, pick up the sketch you chose and read the name written on the front." Arcana sat back

Denva flipped over the image and lit up when she saw it. It was an image of an old Queen - one of her great Aunts actually. From her mother's side of the family. Briolette Gelast, the source of her middle name. She recognized the dark purple eyes that ran in her family. She was affectionately known as Brio for short.

"It's Queen Briolette! My great Aunt on my mother's side twice removed! Her painting is near our quarters in the palace." Denva told Arcana, delighted that her Great Aunt's image was chosen to be part of a circus act.

"It's Queen Briolette! My great Aunt on my mother's side twice removed! Her painting is near our quarters in the palace." Denva seemed postively delighted by this fact.

Arcana nodded sullenly. "When this all began I have you a journal that is over 100 years old. Please open the page that I book marked and read out the paragraph I have circled in red."

The circled paragraph was a short biography stating who Briolette was,  and when and how she tragically died. The final sentence read 'and her ghost is said to haunt the circuses she once loved.'

((Again, I'll let you decide exactly what it says cause it doesn't matter too much, lol))

Denva opened the journal, finding the part that Arcana indicated. It read. "Queen Briolette Gelast, third Queen of the 16th century. Born January 14th, XXXX, she was 19 years old when she was married to King Jerard Lucienta in August, XXXX. She was a patron of the arts, a Ridgestrider who had the power of metallickenesis. Metal manipulation. She loved seeing the circus perform whenever they came to the capital. Queen Briolette would invited them to perform even when it wasn't their time of year, such as at the Solstice Celebrations or New Years festivals. After giving birth to three children - two boys and a girl - with her eldest son taking the throne when King Jerard retired, King Milo took the throne after his parents retired. Queen Briolette passed on at the age of 89 in the year XXXX, and swore that even as a spirit, she'd continue to enjoy the circus. Which is why her ghost is said to haunt the circus that she once loved." Denva read aloud, speaking clearly so everyone in the preview audience could hear her voice. She never liked public speaking, but she was good at it.

(I wasn't sure what year this was in, so I did what they did in video games and just substituted numbers with XXXX so we can imagine what year it is)

Arcana smirked softly.

From the audience's perspective, she had no way of knowing that Denga would choose that one specific card from the 20 unique drawings. So she could not have prepared the materials ahead of time and booked marked that specific section in the journal. How could she have known?

"Denva," Arcana purred, "this moment was always meant to be... looking behind you."

She pointed to the wall directly behind the audience just as the light flickered out.

There, on the tent wall, dripping in some fluorescent liquid that was definitely not there before, was the name of the Queen, below it, the date she died

Denva turned, gaping when she saw the glowing words. The name of Great Aunt Briolette, the day she died....what the heck was going on? She'd seen the act before but never been part of it! She wondered if her Great Aunt's ghost really was haunting the circus!

"Uh...that wasn't there before, was it?" She asked, glancing back at Arcana, pointing at the words hovering above the audience watching the preview of the show.

Upon the name of the queen and the date of her death showing up on the wall behind Malik and his crew, the merchant's companions began whispering quietly to one another.

"How'd she do that," Kai breathed, eyes sparkling with excitement, but his tone low.

"It's some sort of trick, obviously." Marrin scoffed softly in return.

"Then how?" The young Tideseeker shot back.

"Shh," Unexpectedly, it was Mira who had shushed the two. Malik raised an eyebrow. The navigator seemed really into the scenario playing out. He wasn't sure if she believed it was real, or if she was perhaps interested to know the methods Arcana was using.

Collectively, everyone's gaze turned away from Arcana to gaze at the glowing letters gleaming above them. That was exactly what Atcana had intended to happen and crucial for the next part of the show.
Alarmed whispers sprung up from amongst the crowd as all eyes shifted back towards the circus ring leader.
"That wasnt there before, was it?" Denva asked, but by the time she and the rest of the audience looked back around to face Arcana, the ring master had vanished.
In her place was the dead Queen herself, her skin pale with the colour of death and her eyes deeply sunken into her skull. In a lashing movement, she reached out and grabbed Denva by the shoulder as a jump scare

And of course, like anyone given a particularly good jump-scare, shrieked when she saw her Great Grandmother's ghost. She'd seen this part of the show before, but had never experienced it herself! No wonder people freaked out when they saw their dead relatives!

"Great Aunt Briolette!" She squeaked, wondering if it really was the apparition of her Great Aunt! She knew from talking to Mr Ortiz the former jester, that some ghosts did look like that, but most looked like they did when they were alive - or at least as people remembered them

Malik had just turned his eyes once again forward when he just managed to catch a glimpse of a ghostly figure, arm outstretched towards Denva's shoulder, right before touching the latter. Denva let out a scream upon seeing the person herself.

"Great Aunt Briolette!" Denva said in a high voice. Malik raised an eyebrow; the point of the wording on the wall had been to get everyone to look away so that the person in costume could come out. At least Malik assumed it was a get-up. The scenario was clever since most would definitely turn to look like everyone else so that the ghost could perform an unexpected jumpscare on the volunteering participant.

Marrin actually seemed to have been caught off guard by sudden change up front, despite her earlier comment, while Kai had let out a gasp at the sight. Malik just crossed his arms, wondering where the scene was going to go.

The ghostly figure said nothing. She merely extended her other hand and helped Denva up. Then, keeping one hand on the girl's shoulder, she trailed behind her, gently pushing Denva out of the curtained area. As they pushed past the velvet curtains, the ghost disappeared entirely and Arcana emerged from the other side, still holding Denva's shoulder.
Not one did the pressure of the hand alleviate from Denva's shoulder and since it was happening behind her, it seemed as though Arcana appeared exactly where the ghost once was without ever taking her hand off Denva's shoulder. Like the ghost had disappeared entirely, or was never there to begin with
The change was so flawless and effortless, it seemed almost impossible given the time for the switch to have occured.

Denva yelped again, glancing over her shoulder to see if her Great Aunt was still there, only to see Arcana when they came out of the castle! She was seriously freaked out right now. How had Arcana done all this!? Mana manipulation? Illusions? Wind Manipulation? Wow, all those thoughts were running through her head right now but she was still surprised by the whole thing.

"Sheesh! Give a girl a heart attack, why don't ya?!" Denva yelped, seeing her idol behind her again.

The ghost escorted Denva through the curtain to one side.

"Wonder what's happening-" Kai was cut off when a yelp emitted from Denva upon emerging from the other side of the velvet.

The crew exchanged glances, but upon looking back to the curtain that the ghostly figure and Denva had stepped through, the ghost had been once again replaced by Arcana on the opposite side.

((They were only behind the curtains for a very brief time. It was more like she stepped through the curtains and came out on the other side as someone else because the curtains just form a little box around the table with one side open to the audience))

"Sheesh! Give a girl a heart attack, why don't ya!" Denva cried out

Arcana chuckled. "Thank you for your participation, my lady." She cooed. "You may now bow to the audience." She murmured as she flashed a charisma smile at the group spectating and gestured to Denva to take her bows.

The fire along the outside of the ring died out and the rigging was pulled, opening the tent once again to the sunlight

Denva of course bowed as Arcana did, recovering from her surprise. When she stood up again, she had a huge grin on her face as the tent was opened up again to allow natural light in as the flames went out. She turned to Arcana.

"That was amazing! Mom said that while I was in town, I should see about getting tickets for tomorrow's show. Is there any chance I can get six tickets? My cousin Althea would love to come and so would her parents. Oh, I should also mention that she's looking for animals to pull her flying carriage. I'll be sure to mention that you guys are putting Kitty and Purry up for sale after the show. She already has a unicorn from another circus that she rides in horse competitions." Denva told Arcana, eager to get her tickets for the show the next day - her birthday. She was glad Arcana gave her this sneak peak. Althea was going to be jealous. There was some sort of announcement tonight at the castle, so they'd agreed to go the next day since they couldn't go first night like they usually did. She still had to purchase her gemstones, but this whole thing didn't take all that long, she had plenty of time.

Once Denva bowed, the ring of fire blew out and the tent was filled with sunlight.

The crew politely clapped, ranging in manner from Kai's over-excited fashion to Marrin's brief, slower applause. After a few moments, Malik and his companions filed out of their seats.

"That was quite amazing," Malik commented to his friends as they made their way over to Arcana and Denva, the latter who had started conversing with the other. Mira nodded, her hands clasped behind her back as they stepped up to the front of the ring.

Pearl beams. "Thank you, Demitri" she says quietly. She slowly begins to wander the bookshelves, carefully reading the titles of the books a she walks along, still in awe of the place. Midnight sits still and quiet on Pearls shoulder, letting the girl explore without distracting her.

"That was amazing! Mom said that while I was in town, I should see about getting tickets for tomorrow's show. Is there any chance I can get six tickets? My cousin Althea would love to come and so would her parents." Denva asked in a hurried tone, much to Arcana's chagrin.

Arcana kept up a pleasant smile. "Tickets will be avaible for purchase at the booth upon entry during performance nights."

Denva, whose thoughts seemed to be running kilometres in a single second continued on. "Oh, I should also mention that she's looking for animals to pull her flying carriage. I'll be sure to mention that you guys are putting Kitty and Purry up for sale after the show. She already has a unicorn from another circus that she rides in horse competitions."

"I am sure that Kitty and Purry will be grateful to arrive at their forever homes." Arcana commented warmly, looking up as she noticed Malik's approach.

""That was quite amazing." He commented politely.

"We are honoured to recieve such praise." Arcana cooed with a diplomatic bow. "Shall we be expecting you at the performance? I am sure that Alpha would love the chance to show off." Mischeif twinkled in her gaze as she cast a glance at Mira.

"Of course! There's no way we're missing the show after this! Thank you so much for this preview Ringmaster Arcana!" Denva replied, bowing respectfully to the woman. She was still floored by the idea of being able to meet her idol. Althea was going to be jealous! And after the announement at the palace, her family could get tickets to the show! She was totally pumped up about it too.

Denva and Arcana ceased their brief chat, the latter turning to bow gracefully at Malik's praise. He glanced at his friends upon the inquiry before nodding.

"After our business at the palace, I believe we'll be able to stop in, since we're already in the area," Malik chuckled in response to the ringmaster's question. Mira giggled, focusing on the last statement Arcana had made.

"Yes, I'd like to see some more after this," The ravenette smiled. "Perhaps we'll see you there, too, Denva."

[Demitri Lockehart | Librarian]

Demitri merely nodded in response to Pearl's thanks. The girl paced over to the shelves, studying the books and the words scrawled across their spines. However, it was the bird that Demitri focused on. While he doubted the girl would have lied about the bird's behavior, despite her mysterious background, he still wasn't sure just how well Midnight behaved.

But the bird didn't perform any action of worry, quietly perched atop the guest's shoulder.

"Midnight is quite well trained," Demitri commented, after the comfortable silence.

"You are too kind, my lady." Arcana replied to Denva's effervescence. She turned to face Malik when he spoke up.
"After our business at the palace, I believe we'll be able to stop in, since we're already in the area," Malik chuckled cooly.
"Well, I do hope you make it." Arcana murmured with a dip of her head.
"Yes, I'd like to see some more after this," Mira smiled cheerily "Perhaps we'll see you there, too, Denva."
"Oh," Alpha's deep chuckled rumbled as he pushed past the tent flap and walked inside. "I can show you so much more, luv." He flirted as he passed by Mira then inclined his head. "All of your mounts are stationed outside and awaiting your arrival."

"I better get going. I have an order of jewelry supplies to pick up for my Dad anyways. I'll see you guys at the circus!" Denva told Malik, grinning at him and Mira. She was glad to have made new friends. She looked over at Alpha when he said their mounts were waiting outside.

"So what kind of animals do you ride? I have a Wingless Grififn - but you saw me with her earlier, right? I can introduce you if you want." Denva offered, thinking they might be interested in meeting Hoseki. Her brain was buzzing with excitement. She couldn't help it. Her Dad always said it came from her creative side and her parents found it endearing.

After Arcana's utterance, Alpha smoothly pushed into the tent with a flirtatious comment.

"I'm sure you can," Mira said back, a flirty sparkle in her eye. "See you tonight~"

Marrin and Kai rushed outside to get the horse, probably using it as an excuse to escape the atmosphere between the two. Malik nodded at Denva's goodbye, Mira also taking a break from her back-and-forth with Alpha so give a little wave of farewell.

"I'm sure you can," Mira cooed to Alpha "See you tonight~"

Arcana gave a full-throated laugh at the comment, and Alpha's subsequent smirk in response. This was going to be quite the amusing night.

Alpha watched as Mira gave a wave of goodbye, tilting his head slightly with a charismatic smile.

"So what kind of animals do you ride? I have a Wingless Grififn - but you saw me with her earlier, right? I can introduce you if you want." Denva spoke

Alpha blinked. "Hmm?" He was too distracted by Mira to have been paying Denva much mind.

Arcana rolled her eyes. "Dont mind him, my lady. He's no better than the animals he works with."
"Hey!" Alpha gave Arcana a playful shove, the latter laughed

Pearl pulls down a history book, just as Demitri mentions that Midnight is well trained. She grins and nods. "Yeah. I don't think it actually took a lot of work to train him, he just seems to understand more than most ravens" she answers, giving Midnight a little kiss on the head. The bird caws quietly with pleasure.

Denva giggled at Arcana's description of Alpha's behavior, glancing at Malik and Mira.

"The invitation was actually for Malik and Mira. You guys already met Hoseki earlier." She reminded Arcana, knowing Arcana had been helping take care of her wingless griffin

((sorry, I didn't realize Denva was talking to my characters XD))

[Malik Nerio | Merchant]

"Oooh, sure! We can see her on our way out." Mira said in response to Denva.

"Truth be spoken, I'm more of a sailing man, and I normally don't ride anything much more exotic than a horse. Though that's not to say I haven't dealt with some other beasties in my travels." Malik added, not one to shy away from slipping in a boast here and there in his conversations. "However, I can't say I've had the honor of meeting a griffin." He finished smoothly, allowing the main focus to return back to Denva's steed.

[Demitri Lockehart | Librarian]

Upon Pearl giving the bird a peck atop the head, Demitri noticed one of the books she had pulled from the shelf. A history book he knew well.

"Ah, interested in Astrin's history?" The light-haired librarian asked.

Denva nodded eagerly, leading the sailor and his friend out to where Hoseki was waiting for them. Hoseki cawed a greeting, trotting over to greet her human as soon as she was visible in the crowd. She nibbled Denva's dark hair, making her laugh.

"OK, knock it off you! Were you good for Alpha while I was watching the preview?" Denva greeted the wingless griffin, earning a happy caw in return. Denva noticed that her feathers had been groomed and her saddle polished along with her bridle. She made a mental note to thank the animal staff for the circus later somehow. She saw the griffin eye her new friends as she warbled a query.

"Malik, Mira, meet Hoseki. She's a Wingless griffin of the Savanna variety. They tend to look more like leopards, jaguars, that sort of thing. Mostly jungle and desert cats. They're fairly rare, but more common than say, someone riding a giant Roc. My parents knew a breeder so we were able to get her right after she hatched. That's the best time to start training a griffin of any sort really. I've ridden the flying kind, dragons you name it." Denva explained, rubbing her friend's head, earning a happy purr. The griffin warbled a greeting at the two sailors, bobbing her head in a way that made her look like a parrot greeting it's owner. That was a clearly relaxed pose for a griffin and studies showed that griffins had a combination of house bird and house cat behaviors.

Pearl nods. "I find if I study something hard, there's a chance I'll remember it when- when I loose my memory next time" she says, faltering slightly. She shakes her head, pushing that thought from her mind. "Besides, the best way to get to know some place is to learn its history, right?"

Arcana |Circus Ringleader/Perfomer|

Arcana kept her brimming smile up as she watched the group depart. She raised a hand, a silent signal for her on-hand staff to come forth.

All 7 of the main cast members emerged from the shadowed corners of the tent, coiling in around her.

"Rhyme, Lullaby. Make sure they get off the property safely and without trouble." Arcana nodded towards the two twins. While her words her light-hearted enough, her grave tone suggested otherwise. She had no doubts regarding Denva's integrity, it was Malik and his group whom she did not trust. Really, she was telling the sisters to make certain that they would not steal or otherwise cause issue.

Dipping their heads, the twins wordlessly slipped outside.

"Phoenix." Arcana pulled the pin from her hair. "See if you can find someone willing to buy this piece at a high price."

Pheonix furrowed his brow in apaprent concern. "She gave you the pin as a gift, are you sure you want to pawn it off?"

"It is more useful to me as coin than it is as some frivolous glittering that someone haphazardly deicded was valueable thousands of years ago." Arcana held up the piece.

Phoenix sighed and retrieved it. "Alright."
"Don't sell it until after the performances. I need to wear it tonight and I doubt we will be able to craft a cheap replacement soon enough. I don't want to hurt the girl's feelings. Her daddy is loaded and could be benefical to us." Arcana folded her arms.

Phoenix carefully tucked the piece into his jacket pocket. "You scare me sometimes."
"It's just about business." Arcana sighed.

Phoenix acquiesced to her demands and strode off.

"The rest of you." Arcana clapped her hands together as she regarded her remaining troupe. "Help clean this up."

"Awe, man." Sniper complained, scratching the back of his neck with a boyish grin. "I had plans with a lady friend."
"Already?" Arcana raised an eyebrow.

"Well, not yet. But that jewler chick seemed kinda cute." Sniper beamed, seemingly proud of himself.

"That's my boy!" Alpha clapped him on his back, causing Sniper to spring forward in startlement.

Arcana pinched the bridge of her nose. Although Alpha and Sniper were not directly related, Alpha had taken the teenager under his wing... which usually mean endless flirtations. Sniper actually used to be shy, believe it or not.

"Well, all the more reason to hurry and get this cleaned before she leaves." Arcana folded her arms.
Sniper paled slightly then stuck out his tongue. "Fine."

Alpha smirked, watching him go before turning back to Arcana. "Sooo... I'm just going to go now-" He began to casually stroll past the ringleader.

Arcana folded her arms. "No you don't." She jerked her head slightly to the side as a field of gravity enveloped Alpha, hoisting him up off his feet and leaving him stranded in the air.

Without lifting a finger, Arcana floated him across the ring, then floated a mop towards him, forcing it into his grap before depoisting both Alpha and the mop into the center ring. "You're helping."

Alpha muttered something under his breath and angrily began to clean the arena... which was quite the sight to see. Someone angrily mopping....

Chuckling, Arcana turned to Arcangel who had wrapped her arms around the ringleader's leg and was gazing up at her with wide eyes.

"Hey Angel." Arcana smiled at her, a genuinely soft and compassionate expression. "Is something the matter?"

Angel just hid her face against Arcana's back and shook her head.

Arcana laughed softly and picked her up. "You are getting way too old for this."
Angel made a face, seemingly in denial of that.

Arcana shook her head and exited the tent, the 9 year old still in her arms.

The aforementioned griffin eagerly greeted her owner, grabbing a bit of Denva's hair in good-natured acknowledgment. After a moment, the bird-like animal turned to take a look at Malik and Mira.

Denva swiftly ran through the griffin's name, background, and characteristics. Despite the birdy qualities, the markings and build were likewise to that of a large cat. Hoseki even purred, before enthusiastically switching to a more bird-like movement of head bobbing.

Malik faintly smiled. He never had a need for a pet of his own, but stray cats were useful at docks for keeping rats at bay. Parrots were also an interesting companion some sailors choose to keep, so he had seen a decent amount in his life living and exploring many a coast side.

"Awww," Mira clasped her hands together, finding the griffin and its mixed animal qualities adorable. "May I pet her? Or actually... I don't know the best way to pet a griffin." Mira suddenly became a bit warier, perhaps remembering getting nipped by Naia's grumpy golden eagle the first time they had met.

Marrin and Kai walked a bit closer, the latter having resecured the reins of their horse.

[Demitri Lockehart | Librarian]

Demitri hesitated, unsure whether he should press more. While Pearl had willingly given the information about her apparent memory loss, he wasn't sure how sensitive the subject was. Demitri wasn't the best at judging other people's personal boundaries, so he tried to err on the side of caution.

"That is true," He ended up nodding to Pearl's last statement. He walked over to the same shelf, scanning over the volumes resting atop it, finally stopping when he caught sight of a particular one, bound in red. He easily slid it out of its place. "The one you have is good for an overall history, while this one is a good companion for highlighting important events."
