A World of Discoveries
((Hey everyone, this is just something I was thinking about as I walked downtown in my hometwon a few days ago. How would Hiccup and the others react if they and their dragons were suddenly dumped into our modern day world? What would they think about lightbulbs, which are sort of like the power of Thor in a small glass ball? I decided to write this to figure it out. Let me know what you think. Keep in mind, this is going to sound an awful lot like talking from a very stupid child's perspective a lot, because the gang doesn't know about much of our modern day junk. I'm going to be using a character I made up for a novel I'm writing.))
"Okay guys, let's head back to Berk. This storm's getting vicious," Hiccup said as he and Toothless turned their noses homeward. FIghting the brutal winds that pushed them back, all the dragons could do was maintain their positions. Before losing consciousness, they felt their riders slip from their saddles. They dropped toward them, Toothless grabbing Hiccup and wrapping himself around his best friend to keep him safe. An enormous flashing whirlpool opened up beneath the group as they fell into the ocean. It swallowed them whole before closing up and ceasing the storm instantaneously. The only hint that anything had changed, was the remnants of a red tailfin floating atop the gentle waves along with a few personal belongings that the other riders would never have parted from willingly. These few items washed ashore on Berk and were found by some young children that were exploring and playing on the beaches.

"Marianne! It's time to get up! Your step father and I are leaving now! See you in a few weeks! Love you," Mother called. She groaned and rolled over, and off the skinny twin sized bed. She pulled on her grub pants from her "Ceramics" drawer and scrubbed the sleep from her face. Putting in her contacts, she snagged her morning pills and gulped them down dry, chasing it with the half-full glass of stale water on her nightstand. Marianne made a face at the bitterness. Her German Shepherd puppy, Rocky, bid her a good morning by licking her feet, and between her toes.
"Eww! Rocky, stop that, silly boy! You know my feet don't taste good," she said sleepily. As if he understood, he sat down and stared up at her wrinkling his nose in disgust. She laughed and scratched his ears. He stuck his nose between her knees and sniffed eagerly before she shoved him roughly away from her intimate area. She grabbed a bra that was hanging over the back of her desk chair and clipped it on. After feeding and watering Rocky, she let him out into the large fenced in back yard so he could run around all day and drink from the river that flowed just on the edge of the property line, then grabbed her keys and left for work. A fun six hour shift on her feet at a neighbor's shop and she clocked out about two in the afternoon. She was heading back to her car when she spotted something very strange out of the corner of her eye. Turning she spotted a man in his early twenties, along with a group of nineteen-twenty year olds staring at the traffic lights. She would have shrugged it off were it not for their clothing. They were dressed like...Oh no. Her eyes widened. "Not again."
She pulled out her phone and called her friend Anita. "We have another batch of doves in the eagle's Nest," she said when she heard her best friend's voice.
"Oh boy, who is it this time? The nuns again?" guessed she.
"Try Vikings," answered Marianne. "They look like the crew from the movie How to Train Your Dragon 2. I know, I know, it sounds crazy. But just meet me downtown by the bus terminal. They aren't going anywhere for a while: they're watching the lights change." Her phone crackled as Anita sighed.
"Fine, I'm coming. We're going to have to see if we can get that old clunker up and running," Anita said.
"Rocky's going to be thrilled," they said in unison. Together, the two friends laughed before hanging up.
"Time to make contact," Marianne said to herself approaching the group of young adults. She slipped into Old Norse, a language she had picked up one summer because she was bored. "Greetings, what brings you all here?"
The boy with the black armour looked at her funny. "You speak our tongue?" he asked.
"Yes, I got bored one summer between grades eleven and twelve and learned old Norse. I just did it because I had nothing else to do, and I also wanted to learn more about Vikings, like you. So I ask again, what brings you here?" she inquired again.
"Uh, I don't know how to explain this. You're probably going to think I'm crazy for saying this, but uh, we fell through a water typhoon, I guess," he said.
"Oh great, that'll be fun to get you back to where you belong. What are your names so I can introduce you to my friend who will be helping me?" she asked.
"My name's Hiccup. These are my friends Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Snotlout, Fishlegs, and my girlfriend, Astrid. We're all from-" Hiccup started.
"Berk, right?" He nodded. "Oh yay. A transdimensional portal. My favorite!" she cried sarcastically. "Ugh. My dog is going to drown himself for sure this time. Wait a minute. Where are your dragons?"
"We don't know, someone pulled up in a big closed in cart that runs without anyone to pull it and shot them with sleeping potions before loading them in the back," Astrid declared stepping forward.
"Oh no, did they have a bright yellow uniform on? Or was it different colors of green?" asked the modern day woman.
"Uh, I think they were wearing yellow clothes, but there were a few with really dark blue clothes too. Why? What's going to happen to our dragons?!" Hiccup asked grabbing her upper arms.
"Maybe now isn't a good time to discuss this. How many of you are there? Six? Perfect, we'll get in my van and drive to my parents' place. Follow me," she said wriggling out of his grasp. They allowed her to guide them to her cart-that-runs-by-itself and they all piled in, three in the back, two in the middle, and one in the front. Snotlout, Hiccup, and Fishlegs were in the very back, Ruffnut and Tuffnut were in the middle and Astrid sat up front. Marianne's bluetooth connected automatically upon starting her vehicle. She called Anita immediately to inform her of the change in plan.
"Anita, we have a wee bit more of an issue than just doves in the Eagle's nest. I think the Science Dweebs may have tranq'd the 'gons and taken them to be well, poked, prodded, and sampled," she said. She slapped Astrid's hand away from the air conditioning dial. "Don't touch that. Everyone take the belt that's behind you and pull it across your chest. Put the metal piece into the slot beside the bright red button and push until it clicks. We're not moving until you're buckled up. Anita, meet me at my place in twenty. And bring Dake with you, we're going to need an astrophysisist."
The click of a seatbelt buckle being clicked told her that someone had successfully followed her directions. Hiccup seemed pretty excited about the fact that his seat was comfortably squishy, and held him snuggly like a tight hug. He explained to the rest of the crew how he did it and they tried his method, which succeeded.
"Everyone buckled up? Good, we're going to be going to my place until we can figure out how to get your dragons back. This isn't going to be easy, but it will be doable," she said as she pulled out of the parking spot. She turned on the radio so they could listen to music while they drove.
"Hey, where's that music coming from?" Snotlout asked looking around. "I didn't know there was a band in here. How cool is that?"
"Technically there isn't a band in here, it's coming from the air, actually. Well, it's hard to explain, but I'll try my best. Oh come on, dude, really? Nice blinker, censored. Sorry, that wasn't nice, don't call anyone that," the driver explained. This was going to be a long five minute drive. Questions began flying from everyone, and began to give her a headache. She put a deathgrip on the steering wheel before checking in her mirrors to ensure no one was behind her. Seeing no one she slammed on the brakes, shutting everyone up and sending them all flying against their restraints.
"What was that? What's wrong? Can your people read minds or something? Is something wrong with our dragons? There is, isn't there? Why won't you answer-" Hiccup started.
"SHUT UP! Everyone! Please! I need quiet to drive," Marianne screamed, silencing him. Fishlegs and everyone else sat back, tight-lipped and well-behaved. "Sorry, I have a headache. We'll be back at homebase in five minutes. Do you think you can be silent that long?" A series of nods indicated their answers. "Thank you. Is everyone okay? Answer quietly, as if a baby were sleeping lightly in here. Wake the baby, you have to change the stinky diaper."
Slowly, one by one, starting with Astrid, who seemed thoroughly shaken, they all answered. "I'm fine. Scared, but fine. Hiccup?" she asked looking back at him.
"I-I'll be okay," he responded, voice shaking. "Fishlegs?"
"I just really wish Meatlug were here. That just really scared me, but I'm okay," he whimpered. "Ruffnut?"
"Tuff and me are fine. Snotlout?" the girl answered.
"A bit sore, but otherwise okay. Why did you stop so suddenly?" he asked.
"I had to shut you guys up. There were too many questions. You guys have to understand, I don't do this kind of thing everyday. If everyone's okay, we're going to drive in silence, listening to music, okay?" she said. Hearing no objections, she turned her blinker on and started driving again.
I've always wondered what would happen if the gang got washed into our time!
Edit: is this girl part of some sort of anomally task force, like in Primeval? (I'm in love with that show) It kinda does sound like she helps people from other times a lot.

"It takes strength to fly, dear cousin, but it takes grace to float!" ~ Crysanthemum
Titals: Emma the Artistic, Emma the Insane
Age: 15 (almost 16)
Long golden brown hair, tied back into a tight ponytail, with large hazel eyes and long eyelashes. Her skin is tanned, and almost always stained with soot, paint, or gunpowder. Out in public, she wears a pink t-shirt with an armored fur skirt and brown fuzzy boots, and has a surplus of satchels and belt pouches, along with a battered black helmet with curled horns. When working, she wears a leather apron with her hair tied into a bun and a white tunic with leather breeches under it. Has a black tattoo shaped like a celtic knot on her left collar bone.
One part genius, two parts mad scientist, and all artistic curiousity, Emma is nothing if not interesting. When she was little, she had a fascination with how dragons breathed fire, even when they were attacking the village. When her parents were killed in the Red Death attack, it only served to stoke the fires of her inventive mind, leading her to invent near impossible machines so to better defend her home and everyone she holds dear. Unfortunately, Emma is also a bit of a pyromaniac, and has a dangerous attraction to explosives. This causes her Fellow Berkians to give her a wide berth, and ultimately leads her to isolate herself entirely from the village. She wants to be accepted for who she is, and not ridiculed for creative impulsives she cannot always control.
Abilities: Swordsman, scientific genius and stratagist, dragon trainer, always keeps explosives on hand.

Bouncies by Hattori!
My dragons, Peony and Spindleheart!
Breed: Monstrous Nightmare (Southern)
Appearance: Chocolate brown, with Hot-Pink details and a pale pink underbelly. Has a small scar at the end of her tail from Dagur the Deranged's axe.
Was born on the Island of Crete, but escaped when Drago Bludvist took her flock. Eventually made her way to Berk, where she was captured and put in the Academy. Emma was the only one who could get through to her, after one of Hiccup's attempts at training her went wrong. Ever since, the two have been like sisters. She is hot tempered, stubborn, and ferocious, giving her a rotten reputation amoung the villagers, but she also hides a nuturing and over-protective maternal instinct when it comes to her rider and her adoptive "Nephew", Spindle. She and Nina Haddock's Deadly Nadder, Darrien, have a competitive friendship, but she distrusts any other dragon or rider, especialy Stormfly and Astrid. She also has a grudge against Hiccup, but she'll follow his orders when they make sense.
Abilities: Copy-Cat fighting, glowing pink patterns, the usual bursting into flames
Status: Warrior of her small flock
Hiccup attempting to train Peony in the Arena. Peony: "Not happening, Twig Arms..."
(Edit by Sephira)
Name: Spindleheart, though often just Spindle
Breed: Whispering Death
Stormy gray scales, with turquoise spines and a sunset orange underbelly. Wears a set of headgear that resembles goggles.
Was found underneath Berk as an egg, along with two other eggs. Hiccup, knowing Emma had little to no fear of Whispering Deaths, entrusted one of the eggs to her, after much reassurance that she'd take good care of it. Spindle's personality is shy, sweet, and adorably awkward, with little to no social skills. He often has trouble speaking to the other Whispers he was found with, and is deathly afraid of Hiccup's new Whisper, Shredder. Not knowing any other family, he maintains a stubborn belief that Emma is his mother and Peony his aunt (though he can't really say her name right, so he always calls her "Auntie PeeNee"), even as he discovers his past and lineage. Being slightly more sensitive to sunlight than most, Emma made him a pair of tinted goggles so he can fly during the day. He's an overachiever, and always gets depressed at his poor racing skills, but excells at target and shooting games, thank's to Peony's patient training.
Abilities: Spine-Shot, Tail-Whip, Drilling, very good swimmer
Status: Scout of his small flock
Name: (coming soon)

Hong Taiyang (紅太陽), or "Red Sun"
This dragon is very proud, strict, ordered, and often acts like a bit of a snob... okay, maybe a lot of a snob. But he's also very willing to learn, and knows how to read and understand several languages. He enjoys watching things be created, and loves the structure of the scientific process. He will sometimes give you a message written in a foreign language and watch intently while ou try to puzzle out the translation.

Cold and emotionless, Deathknight is a sadistic maniac who makes Dagur look like Sigmund Freud. He doesn’t care about anyone or anything except inflicting suffering and sustaining his own existence. He’s become a bit of a boogeyman: a nightmarish creature that stalks the deep forests in winter, toying with it’s prey, then ripping it to shreds or dragging it back to it’s lair to kill slowly and painfully. It’s hard to believe such a vicious dragon could have a shred of honor, but he does. If someone manages to defeat him in battle, Deathknight actually won’t attack that person/dragon again if they venture into his territory, but don’t expect him not to destroy you if you try and take him on a second time…

To Be Continued...
The thing about Marianne is that she was struck by lightning when she was five, on a family vacation when her father was still alive, as she was crossing the international dateline. She was also buried up to her nose in a book about alternate dimensions. She was always a very bright child. She found when she came to in the hospital, that she could see the currents that move the universe. At the age of ten, she created her first dimensional portal, I guess. I don't know what else to call it. Later that same year, she found she wasn't alone. It was such a relief for her to find out she wasn't such a freak. There are about ten in total, including her, on planet Earth. Anita is called a Keeper of the Dimension. They keep everything in order and help people get back to where they belong. She and Marianne met by chance at a Trans Dimensional Travellers (TDT) meeting one year. They'd grown up as neighbors, but never really crossed the fence, I suppose. They started hanging out more, and then they ran into someone who got stuck in a similar manner to Hiccup and the gang. It was a character from their absolute favorite movie. So they worked together to beat the government and successfully returned them to their proper dimension. After they were recognised for their work, they swore a sacred vow, and solemn oath to help lost people, no matter what. They've been working on it for nine years when they meet Hiccup and the gang.
It's not hard, for those who have studied or young children, to visualize 5th dimensional probability space where universes separate from each other. In fact it's been suggested babies have an intuituve understanding of quantum mechanics until you play peek-a-boo with them. One of the kid's I was babysitting grasped the concept of wave particle duality within a few hours and explained it back to me better than any book. she actually understood it the way most adults understand 3D space.

On the Subject of Hackers
please read this link, it helps to identify the different types of hackers. I have hacked computers, and servers in the past (despite not being the best at code) but I never do it for personal gain. Unfortunately the hackers most people refer to on the internet are crackers so they bring a bad light on the hacking community in general. I only learned to hack code because I needed to in order to hack my microwave and other software in my house.
Don't be a Cracker you ruin it for everyone!
Marianne pulled into the driveway just a few moments before Dake. He stepped out of his convertable and pushed a button on his remote to bring the leather top up and out of the trunk. The Vikings stared out the window transfixed.
"Hey, can he do that again?" Ruffnut asked.
"Maybe some other time," she replied. "For right now, let's get you guys inside. Hey, you get to meet Rocky!"
"What's a Rocky?" Astrid asked.
"He's my German Shepherd puppy. He's only a year old so he's really energetic," she explained. To get out of your restraints, push the red button beside your hip, the thing that you probably felt when you were buckling up. Let the belts pull back into their storage position, and I'll open the doors. Astrid, see this handle here?"
"Yes, what about it?" she asked.
"There's another one like it on your side, pull it toward you then push the door open." She did. "And now you're free! Everyone else, watch as I push a button and open both back doors." Marianne reached up and pushed said button and stifled a giggle as Ruffnut and Tuffnut flinched away from the doors. "Alright, now everyone out!" She turned the ignition off, grabbed her purse, keys and sanity as she exitted her fairly advanced ride. Remembering the incident on the drive there, all the Vikings scrambled to get out of the vehicle.
Upon entering the house, Hiccup and the others were met by a very excited Rocky, who stopped short upon seeing the visitors. He groaned and let out a howl of dispair as he realized his owner had brought home more Lost People (LP).
"What's wrong with him? Is he sick?" Astrid asked when Marianne came through the door.
"No, he's just depressed because I brought you guys here instead of leaving you standing on the corner of a street staring at the lights and getting really weird looks from my fellow townsfolk," she explained. "Wouldn't be the first time he did that though. Rocky, remember, the last time it happened was over three months ago." He shut up howling and came to investigate the strangers. "Just hold out a hand so he can smell you and get used to you."
Dake came up the walkway. "Uhm...Marie? You've got Vikings for guests," he said when he realized who was in the doorway.
"Yeahyeahyeah, I know, Dake. This is Hiccup, Fishlegs, Ruffnut, Tuffnut, Snotlout, and Astrid, who currently is getting the awkward welcome from Rocky. Stop loving on her leg, Rocky!" she cried grabbing his collar and pulling him off. "Sorry about that. Everyone, this is my GBF Dakota, but everyone just calls him Dake. I called him here so he can fix the machine that will send you guys home."
"Wait a minute, what about our dragons?" Snotlout protested.
"I'll take care of that, don't you worry. I'm just gonna make a quick call and then get to work settling you guys in. We've got two weeks before my mother comes home with my stepdad. They went on their tenth honeymoon. Lucky me it happens just when I need an Elder's assistance," said Marianne ushering them into the tidy little living room. As soon as they sat down on the pleather furniture, a long, large brown smear followed them, marking where they had each sat on the once-white material. "Did you just poop yourself then sit on my couch?"
"Huh? Oh, no. It's just our riding pants. They leave a brown stain just about anywhere," Hiccup said.
"Oh boy, God, what have I gotten myself into?" she asked herself looking skyward.
"You believe in the gods too?! Awh how lucky is that, guys?" the young man with the peg-leg said.
"I'm a Christian, so I only believe in One God," she sighed sitting down on the ottoman. An idea struck her like lightning. The picked up the remote and turned on the television, allowing the newcomers to be hypnotized by the children's show. She and Dake went into the kitchen to talk privately. "Don't ask. They're fascinated by everything, it seems. I need to call Rick and have him get a moving truck that's big enough. Then we can do a rescue and reconescance mission. In the mean time, when Anita arrives, we'll move the Vikings to my hangar. It has a number of alcoves with hammocks, as you know, and the landing-launching pad for the Dimension Crosser."
A knock sounded on the door. Anita entered once the all clear was given. She looked in the living room at the group gathered there who laughed as a coyote was blown up for the ninety-third time. She waltzed into the kitchen to discuss the plans with Marianne and Dake. Rocky wandered in and sat down, looking for all the world like he wanted to deliver snacks. They sighed and put together a platter of snacks big enough that it would have satisfied ten ordinary men thirty times over. There were chips, popcorn (extra buttery), some pickles, cheese, crackers, cookies, and even some triangle sandwiches. Getting down six child-proof plastic cups, she filled them with water, hoping against all odds that the Vikings wouldn't damage anything. She put Rocky's harness on him and sent him back into the living room with the refreshments. And she'd thought Blightlend Hollow was a boring, sleepy old town? There was more action already in only a few short hours than most places saw in an entire month!
Marianne whipped out her cell phone and dialled her friend Ricky. He picked up after three rings, and immediately launched an all-out diarrhea of the mouth.
"Do you realize what we have in our facility right now? It arrived just a few moments ago and they are really angry. I mean full blown-" he yelled in her ear.
"Dragons, I know. Their riders are at my place. I need you to help me bust them out before any serious testing is done. Those poor things won't last the night if we leave them with you guys," she interrupted. Hiccup poked his head around the corner, emmitting a slight noise at the mention of the dragons not making it through the night. "Don't worry, Hiccup. Your dragons are fine. I was talking to a friend about breaking them out of the cells they're being held in. Sorry about that Ricky. I was just walking to Hiccup, the guy who rides the Night Fury. Understandably they're nervous for Toothless and the others. And honestly, who could blame them? New place, new people, strange new inventions that make their world seem very primative."
"I can get them out by sundown. Have a U-haul around back by the delivery bay. Remember, it has to be big enough for five dragons," her friend said on the other side of the phone. "I think you know that after they run the tests, they usually kill what they don't understand."
"Yeah, Ricky. I know. I've attended many TDT funerals, remember?" she asked.
"Okay, Miss. If you would just sign right here, here, and initial here, you can choose your U-haul," the salesclerk said. Signing quickly she swiped her card for payment and grabbed the keys to the biggest truck she could see before dashing out. Dake had given her a ride to the rental store before heading back to her hangar to begin work on repairing and starting up the Dimension Crosser, which he had made for a science fair project in his twelfth grade. It required massive amounts of energy, which he harnessed by charging up two huge solar power storage batteries. They had gotten a professional electrician to install them instead of messing with them.
Anita had stayed behind at her place to transfer the Vikings from the living room to the hangar, after Marianne explained she was going to get the dragons and she needed them to wait for them in the place it was safest to hide. She slipped a bluetooth over her ear and called Ricky.
"I've got the U-haul. Biggest they have. What's the approximate cumulative weight for the five dragons?" she said when he answered.
"Their weight is around thirty thousand pounds, why? What's the max towing capacity?" he asked.
"Thirty-five thousand. We're gonna be cutting it awful close. Give me the directions, buddy. The sun is getting ready to set, and we're running out of time," she said shortly.
He issued the directions from the statue in the middle of town locals called the Horse, because it looked like a horse midstride. She followed the instructions like an old pro and backed up against the delivery bay doors. Ricky was waiting for her, with five very sleepy, drugged dragons. Acting quickly she brought out some sardines she'd brought with her and guided each drowzy reptile up the small ramp and into the back of the truck. Barf and Belch didn't argue with each other and curled around Meatlug and Hookfang, who snorted a two foot jet of flame before falling fast asleep. She and Ricky called Anita, who put the phone on speaker so everyone could hear the news.
"We've got them in a U-haul. Everything should be fine as long as they aren't scared of the dark, and if they don't breathe fire. They're kinda sleepy because of the drugs they were given," Marianne and Ricky said in unison. "I'm sending the antidotes to the tranqs they were given with Marie so she can wake them up. Expect her back in half an hour. I need to get back inside before they realize I'm gone."
He ran back to work while she closed the truck door tightly and got in the driver's seat. She pulled away from the bay doors and was about five uneventful minutes into the drive when the back jerked suddenly. One of the dragons had woken up. She hoped no one would notice as she sped up to cut the time in half. Turning off onto a side street she passed a playground of five-year-olds who were used to strange things happening in Blinklend, and sped off through a grassy field, hoping the dragons weren't getting too bumped up. Pulling back onto the main road she had cut about three-quarters of her travel time out of the equation and drove the rest of the way with the reptiles, mercifully, still. She backed the large vehicle up to her hangar and opened both doors with a little assistance. Together with Hiccup, they lowered the ramp to the ground and ushered the drugged fire-breathers into the metal stables. Phase one was complete. Anita returned the truck with Marianne once the dragons had been checked over, settled in and woken up. They arrived back at the house to find the dragons had gone absolutely haywire, spewing fire and spines everywhich way. And that was all the attack things, not to mention the amount of dung that littered the once-clean floor. The trio of friends groaned and put their head in their hands.
"Alright listen up!" Marianne yelled over the noise. The dragons froze mid movement, and turned their heads to look at her. Their rider counterparts turned too, curious and just a little wary. "I have some ground rules before any more damage can be done to this hangar. First rule: No shooting the walls or main posts that support the roof, that includes spines, fire, and plasma. Do I make myself clear?" The Vikings nodded their heads while the fire-breathing reptiles blinked once in understanding. They sat down where they were and faced her directly. "Rule number two: You make a mess, you clean it up. I have a compost heap out back where I put Rocky's poop, I expect every single bit of dragon doodoo to be in it and buried, or you will be sleeping in it. Final rule: Do as I do. Got it? Good. Now, if you guys have this whole poopy mess cleaned up by tomorrow morning, I'll take you into town, and we can go to the exhibition so you guys can have a taste of what it's like to live in Blinklend Hollow, in the year two thousand fourteen! I'll also answer any questions, alright? The shovels and brooms are located in each alcove. There's one for each of you. I'll assign each of you a semi-private niche, and I expect it to be kept clean. We'll send you guys and girls home as soon as we have this unreliable hunk of machine working properly. Actually, Dake can this thing cross dimensions? I know it can use the leylines crossing the world, but can it go to a completely different world?"
"We'll find out," the astrophysisist replied. "I've never tried, never had reason to. But I'm excited to try! If we pull this off, we'll have done the scientifically impossible with machinery."
"I'm glad you added the 'with machinery' bit," she said. "Because I was also about to crack you upside the head with a manure shovel I keep for just such an emergency. Think I won't use it, try me."
Hiccup and the others found the shovels and brooms fairly easily and set to work. Marianne walked over to the hangar-house phone and cleared her throat.
"If anyone has a problem that is a legitimate issue you can't solve on your own, this gadget will ring the house phone when you lift the metal thing from its hook. Observe," she said lifting the phone. From inside the house, an impressive five hundred feet away, the piercing, shrill ringing of a telephone could be heard. She set the phone back in its cradle, silencing the screaming phone. "As you just heard it's loud enough that it could wake me up even if the power failed, which it sometimes does. If you get scared during the night, and there's no shame in admitting fear, call me by lifting this, and putting it to your ear. I'll give you a few instructions and you can talk to me, okay?"
There was a series of nods. She, Anita and Dake bid them a goodnight and went back to the large, two-storey house. After bidding her friends adieu, Marianne went to bed, changing into a comfortable pair of fuzzy pajamas and crawled into her plush pillow-top bed. She snuggled down between the covers and was just dozing off when the phone beside her head began screaming.
Twisting in panic she grabbed the loud thing and answered it. "Hello?" she said. There was silence at the other end. "Look, if you are trying to reach me from the hangar, just talk. I can hear you."
"Oh, good. I was afraid this thing was broken," Hiccup's voice was garbled and strange, but it was unmistakably his. "I was just wondering where the firepit is for warmth in the, uh, alcoves."
"I didn't put a firepit in them, I put wood stoves. The wood is in the storage room at the back. Push the upper, middle button twice, then the left middle-row button once, followed by the bottom right button, er, the third row, far right button. It'll open the door allowing you guys to get enough wood to last the night. There's also charcoal in there, but don't use it. Use the bundles of kindling, and the pieces of a giant oak tree my father cut down when I was little. One bundle of kindling and three big chunks should do you guys through the night. Put the wood in the black box, and light them afire. Close the door again by turning the lever to the right. If you don't you could catch the hammocks on fire, and burn the place to the ground," she said fighting back the exhaustion that threatened to swamp her. "If you need anything else, just call, okay?"
"Okay. Goodnight," he said cheerily before hanging up. She set the phone back on the receiver and after tossing and turning for ten minutes, finally fell into sleep's blessed arms.
The next morning, Marianne had forgotten about her guests and their pets, as had Rocky. So when they went upstairs for breakfast, a pair of faces peering in the glass patio door were the cause of quite a bit of alarm. When she registered Hiccup's face as friend, not a threat, she straightened up, glaring daggers at him and Toothless. Judging by the greasy forehead prints on the glass, she guessed they had crashed into the door several times before resorting to looking through.
"Ugh, don't do that!" she growled opening the door for them. Toothless, no matter how hard he tried not to, kept bumping into the furniture, coaxing a few groans from Rocky. The biggest issue, however, was the granite countertop being lifted off the island and sent crashing to the floor. "I am dead. My mother is going to kill me. That couter cost a quarter of a million dollars."
"Don't worry, we can get it back onto the box it sat on. Sorry about the damage," Hiccup said hurriedly. "Toothless, sorry, Bud, but you're gonna have to wait for me in the metal building." The Night Fury ducked his head, looking up at his rider with huge eyes. He whined piteously before squeezing back through the door. He dashed to the open man-sized door and fit through perfectly, barely brushing the door jams on either side.
"Have you guys got the mess cleaned up?" Marianne asked when the other Vikings joined her and Rocky in the kitchen. She pulled out two dozen eggs, three pounds of bacon, and a large hunk of back bacon.
"We cleaned it up and then called you about the wood," Astrid explained. "And what happened to this rock? It looks like it's been lifted up by some large force."
"That force has a name, and it's Toothless. He followed me in and bumped into a bunch of furniture before lifting the counter off of its wooden box. Still don't know what a counter is, but I promised Marianne that we'd put it back," Hiccup said. The six of them gathered around the granite slab and hefted it back up onto its wooden pedestal.
"How do you guys like your eggs?" their hostess inquired.
"Uh, we're good with whatever you make," Tuffnut said. There was a small chorus of agreement. She cracked and whisked the two dozen eggs and scrambled them while frying the bacon and backbacon. Ten minutes later, she got out the plates and served her guests breakfast.
"Scrambled eggs, back bacon and regular bacon. Enjoy, while I go and check out the hangar for any poop or damage," she said heading out the door with her dog by her side. She was pleasantly surprised at how clean the floor was. It looked like they had even scrubbed it so as to get the last smear of dragon duty off the concrete and out of the cracks and crevasses. They had earned a tour of the town. But first, something had to be done about their clothes. Their outfits were fine for Berk and other Viking villages, but not for modern day society. Together, she and Rocky walked back into the sun-filled house and climbed up the attic access panel in her mother's closet. "You guys have earned the right to be shown my small, hometown. But we're not going until you're changed out of the outfits you now wear. They're fine for your time, and dimension, but not for here. We'll see what fits from the junk my mother threw up here seven years ago." She poked her head back out of the hole and eyeballed Hiccup and the others. "Okay, Fishlegs, you look like you could fit into my older brother's T-shirt and shorts. Same to you Snotlout. Astrid, Ruffnut, and I can scrounge around in my closets and my mother's closet to find something that will fit, for the duration of your stay. Tuffnut, Hiccup, we'll see what I can find for you two among the many boxes up here. Achoo! Ugh, dust."
She brought down a large stack of boxes, some marked with sharpie, others just plain brown cardboard. From a box marked "August's Old Things" she pulled out two very large, tent-like shirts and tossed them to Snotlout and Fishlegs. She followed them with a pair of basketball shorts with an elastic waistband each. The two dashed off into seperate rooms and came back wearing their new outfits. The girls and her found a cute sundress for Astrid, a pair of jeans and a red tanktop were chosen for Ruffnut, and Marianne slipped downstairs to get changed. She emerged five minutes later refreshed and in a knee-length ruffled skirt with a starburst pattern on it with a white tee for a top. Hiccup emerged with his flight suit over his arm, a pair of jeans draped over his peg-leg, making it less noticable. He'd found an outfit in an unmarked box, he explained, and they fit when he put them on.
Marianne smiled lightly when she saw him wearing the shirt and pants. "Those were my father's. But they look good on you," she said to him. And they did. The turquoise color brought out his eyes, making them a very noticable green, and the jeans fit perfectly and were comfortable.
"Where is your Dad? Or is it a touchy subject?" she heard Astrid ask.
"M-my father died saving my life. It was seven years ago," she said avoiding everyone's gaze. She picked up her purse, keys, and headed out the door. "You guys ready for a tour of the town?" she called over her shoulder.
The Vikings grinned and took off after her.
This is an awesome! I love the different perspective of being in modern times! You need to show them airplanes!! I bet they would think that they are metal dragons! XD Haahaa!!

Spheres of Influence Teaser
Stoick ran right at the huge lizard, bringing his sword down on the edge of its wing. It hissed, breathing a torus of fire into the ceiling, adding to the growing inferno. Deciding that it was finished with all this, the behemoth violently cast Stoick off, lifting its wings. It lashed its tail to clear room for takeoff, knocking Valka away from the cradle and out the door. With a leap it was gone- taking most of the ceiling with it. Stoick panted, forcing himself to stand up from the pile of burning wood slats as his eyes streamed. His legs wobbled slightly as he regained his footing from his short flight into the ashy wall. *creeeeeak*
Outside, Valka was sobbing in horror. “Where are they!?” Gobber yelled, running up.
“Still inside!” she cried. Without a word, he charged through the door and into the smoke stained red with flames. He didn't think twice about risking life and his dwindling amount of limbs to save his best friend and chief.
Valka continued to cry from both fear and smoke as neither man returned. All the while, there were the raging sounds of battle, roaring dragons, and above it all, an even louder roaring of flames consuming freshly cut timber. As she listened to the creaks and cracks of deteriorating wood, her heart sank. The walls had started to fall. Moments later a lumpy form became visible through the smoke. Gobber was returning with Stoick leaning heavily on his shoulder as the final walls collapsed inward. “Whe- where’s Hiccup? Where’s my baby boy!?”
Stoick looked like he could be barely conscious, but what was left of his bushy eyebrows fell. “Gone.”
Alpha's Heir Teaser
“It seems you’re more valuable than I thought.” He spat on the ground, and I saw a slight tinge of red. “You’d better be worth it.” He snapped his fingers, and the changewing zeroed in on him. “Rorrim, hold her down.” Instantly the dragon was at my side, his long antennae wrapping around me. I struggled weakly, but each time I moved his grip tightened, and I stopped moving as my lungs burned as hard as my side.

I love that movie! It's so hilarious, right? I love how Kronk is so big and strong, yet so childish. My favorite part is when Yzma and Kronk are at Pacha's house. Kronk is like the fun uncle everyone wished they had! XD
"This is my variation of double dutch on the single."
(Kronk turning two ropes to either side while kids jump rope)
Then there's also his shoulder demon and angel! And don't forget the map that shows the race back to the palace! Kronk and Yzma fall down a canyon, and still get back to the palace first!
"You know, logically it just doesn't make sense. Your guess is as good as mine."
I think I'll introduce them to airplanes at the exhibition. Sometimes the military base near my hometown does low-flying aerial maneuvers and treat us all to a free show. Not often, and in fact only once that I remember.
They parked in the parking garage downtown, pulling into an obscure spot and preparing to leave. Marianne's phone began ringing, and her bluetooth lit up the inside of the van.
"Oh shoot! It's Monica, my publisist," she said. "I need you guys to keep quiet. Hello, Monica. How are you?"
"Good, I'd been great if it weren't for the fact that my best-selling author isn't at her book signing, which starts in half an hour," her friend said.
"Wha-OH! Right, my book launch," sighed she, putting a hand over her eyes. Slipping into Old Norse she said to the others, "Do you guys think you can behave for about an hour and a half while I promote my book?"
"Who are you talking to? And what language is that?" Monica's voice rang loud and clear. "Are you talking to your stupid international travel buddies again?"
"Sorry, Monica. I'll be there, so don't worry. And I'd greatly appreciate you not call them my quote stupid international travel buddies, unquote. It's interdimensional, and yes I am hanging out with six of them," snapped the author.
A static crackle indicated that Monica was sputtering in anger. Then the line went dead. For five minutes there was complete silence in the vehicle except the rumbling of the engine. She turned the key and killed the van.
The Vikings settled into the front row of seats as Marianne took to the podium to launch her book, "A World of Beginnings." Hiccup leaned back in the chair, comfortable, with his legs at acute angles to his hip joints. The others were similarly arranged, though Ruffnut and Astrid had their knees together and legs closed. She cleared her throat and began to speak, hoping she wouldn't be sick when she opened her mouth. Once she got into the rhythm, however, she settled down and wound up reading two chapters instead of the one she promised. Thirty-three copies of her novel were signed and sold when she packed up the Vikings and took them around the mall.
"The place was packed," she told Anita later. "Like S.R.O. packed. And let me tell you, our visitors weren't the only ones who were fidgetting nervously. My hands were shaking so bad that I had to hold the pages of the book open so I wouldn't notice my jangled nerves."
She went on to explain how when she took them to a chocolatier place, they wound up getting stomach aches bad enough she actually felt bad for them. She picked up her keys again and headed out to the hangar to collect the gang.
"Hey guys, want to go somewhere called the Exhibition? It's a great place filled with rides, games, and food trucks. Oh, and there's also a horse racing track. I know one of the handlers personally, so I think I'll be able to get us some well-trained Clydesdales for a horse-and-buggy ride tomorrow," asked she upon opening the door. The six groaning, moping Nordic people instantly came alive at the thought of new experiences. They jumped up from their hammocks and ran out the door. She laughed and met them in the car. When they arrived, there was very little parking space, but they found one not too far away from the entrance to the fair grounds. After paying for seven adult admissions, they got all-day, unlimited ride bracelets that were bright pink. They went on a ride that looked like a giant, upside-down spider with green accents and black paint. They were all bouncing to get on the ride, but no one was bouncing when they got off.
I love your story! Make more! I've always wondered how the gang would react to modern life ^^

They sampled each ride at the Exhibition except for one that screamed "Suicide." There were very few who were in line to ride it, but when it started to swing, it was easy to understand why. Suicide was basically two caged in metal hammers that had seats and straps for six riders apiece. The motor that ran it brough the seats up, swung them back down, up the other side, back and forth until they reached the top, where the passengers hung for an insanely long time. Just looking at it made everyone but Snotlout feel a little nauseated. The thump of a rubber mallet hitting something wooden followed by the ringing of a bell drew their attention from the terrifying ride that loomed like a giant sledge hammer that threatened to topple at any moment.
Spying the strength game, Marianne grabbed Snotlout's shoulder and dragged him away from the ride. Leading the group over to the game, she paid for each person who wanted a chance to win a stuffed plushy, and let them try their luck. Everyone did well, Hiccup got it half-way up, and Snotlout finally stepped up for his turn. His swing sent the ringer up to the top, where it hit the bell off the pin it was positioned off. The clang of metal hitting the ground told her it was safe to take her hands off her head. A series of groans indicated that a lot of people were waiting for a chance to win something for someone.
Marianne turned to the onlookers. "Sorry, he's new here. And Hammer Throwing is a national passtime where he's from," she said in English.
Yeah, no kidding! :D
This is great!
Hiccup tapped her arm and pointed at one that looked like a harness that made it possible for the rider to appear and feel like they were flying. It was the only other ride, other than Suicide, that they hadn't ridden. Marianne smiled lightly and motioned for them to follow. They got on the ride, except Fishlegs as he was too big to ride so Hiccup offered to stay on the ground with him. He'd go after, he said.
Anticipation buuuuuuildiiiiiiiiiing! XD
Tee hee! I'm so wicked! >:D :P
Yes. You are. First, you don't post for two months... and when you do it's like only two sentences! Come on, please, I'm begging, what happens!!!!
((I have it all mapped out, I just haven't been inspired enough to write it out. >:D You'll just have to keep checking back! MWAHAHAHAAaaa!
...I got entirely too much pleasure out of that... -.-'))
When they all arrived back at the shelter that night after leaving the Exhibition, they collapsed in their hammocks, not even bothering to wrap up in blankets. Marianne smiled exhaustedly and returned to the house, grabbing a quick midnight snack before heading to bed. Rocky snorted a greeting to her before closing his eyes and resuming his dream of treats, chasing cats, cars, and other pipsqueak dogs. She flopped in bed and fell asleep, not even dreaming.
The next morning, the phone screamed her awake, and she answered with a very fuzzy, sleepy, "Hello?"
"Who's this? Could you put Marianne on?" Hiccup was obviously very chipper and a morning person.
"Wh-" She was cut off by a massive yawn, "-This is Marianne. I just woke up, Hiccup. What do you need?" she replied, a bit crankily.
"Sorry. I didn't wake you, did I? We just need to get inside the house to use the restroom. Snotlout's taken to peeing on trees, and I'm not sure if that's uncommon for you guys," he answered. She groaned, rubbing her face.
"Just a second, I'll be outside in a minute," she sighed. They hung up and she swung out of bed, ignoring her sore red-marks where she slept in her bra. She scratched her head and guzzled the tall glass of water beside her bed. She stood up, stretched and trotted upstairs to let her guests into the house. They all made a bee-line for each of the washrooms.

When they came out of the bathrooms, Marianne was looking through the fridge, trying to find breakfast stuff. Muttering a curse she slammed the door closed.
"Well, looks like we'll be going grocery shopping first thing this morning," she announced. She quickly changed into a jeans and a beige tee. She dragged a brush through her hair and pulled it back into a cute pony tail. She lead the group out to the van and they all piled in. She got her keys out and started the vehicle. They drove to the grocery store and went inside. Marianne grabbed a cart and started browsing through the aisles. She put four containers of eggs, ten packs of bacon, and three packs of Canadian bacon with a cornmeal crust.
Turning the cart around she decided to grab a thing of milk, and a large, five-gallon bucket of chocolate ice cream. She shook her head as she looked at it. I'm gonna regret this, she thought. I know I am. She looked around at the others before pushing the cart to the check-out. She paid and had to get the others to help her carry her purchases out to the van. She popped the trunk and everyone dumped their burdens into the back. She closed it and they all piled in. As they headed back to the house a plane made a low pass overhead, and she slowed down out of impulse. She was going so slow the car behind her honked, so she pulled over.
"What are those things?" Hiccup asked in awe. She put down the windows and they stuck their heads out to gawk.
"Those are called airplanes. They're things made of metal that are pushed forward by things called jet engines, which turn a special substance into fire, and a turbine pushes the fire out the back, giving the engines something we call 'propulsion,'" she explained. "See how their wings don't move, and yet they're able to turn in an instant?" They gave a chorus of "uh-huh's" and she smiled. "That's because they've got people inside them. Those people had to train for years before they were allowed to go near one."
"Oooo," she heard them say. She chuckled.
Airplanes are fueled by kerosene which is also what the monstrous nightmare uses to set itself on fire. Don't tell snotlout.
Just please hope this never happens in the USA their airforce would be on those guys in seconds
Lol! Really, though. Especially after 9/11...If it had been in 2000, it'd've been different
I went to the USA for my cousin's wedding and they took everything from magnet wire (i got some more to finally finish my coilgun) to a pack of salt (labeled in korean) in my pocket and ran it through the scanners. TSA does things that are really uncalled for.
Hiccup's leg would be an issue with the metal detectors.
And the story is great! the only part i'm disapointed about is the interchanging of universe and dimension (this engineer/scientist part of me is also the reason I can never enjoy movies)
Also Marianne sounds like a female version of me. I have a bunker in my backyard because of armor testing, a mini tesla coil that i use for welding and vaccuming. and one incident where i had to pay a 2000 dollar power bill just because I decided to make a ray gun with a microwave, tinfoil, duct tape, plastic plates and a toaster. It worked well enough that my neighbour had to call an electrician to fix the overloaded circuits in their house (after the beam went through the test article and a concrete wall). I wanted to setup a particle accelerator in my parent's basement but they said no. so i made a wall greenhouse, 1 m reflecting telescope, rocket engines and various other gadgets (including a snow shoveling robot, very useful in canadian winters can be covnerted to a lawnmowing robot in the summer). I'm currently working on a lifesaving device that occured to me when I got hit in the head with a flashbang grenade.
Wo-ow. I got nothin' but, wo-ow.
*whistles in an impressed tone*
Garth, what in the world is your IQ?! And your age!? Nevermind. Don't answer those. But you really have me beat! I was in both the advanced math and science programs at my school, but I still never built anything like that! Then again, I was more interested in my writing than science... XD
Sidenote, you said you're from Canada? I love your country! I'm hoping to hear from a college in Niagara in the next few days... Fingers crossed that I get one of those two international student places! :)
I'm turning 19 in a few weeks and I'm in Engineering and i've spent the better part of my life around machinery and lego to the point where I didn't have friends. I'm not a genius by any means. I failed a few classes, and there are people in this world that make me feel like I'm not smart. I took advanced math and sciences in high school as well.
And yes i'm from Canada, specifically Calgary. Good luck with your application!
I have no words. How- what- what on earth is your IQ???? That's like... something from one of my fantasy stories about genius kids and popcorn grenades. Well, go you Garth!
My name is Azura Rain in game, and I love to write. In the game I am part of the clan Skyleapers.

My Adopted Dragons and OC's

She is an elegant dragon who is very mature, and loves to fly at night, swooping under the silver moon and stars. When she uses magic, the jewel on her head glows with strange power.
My beautiful Aquaborealis! Here is her story....
Narrated by Iridia:
I swam through the waters by the viking island. It was a barren place, filled with spiky rocks and little greenery. I swam through the mouth of the cove where the vikings kept their boats, a harbor I believe. My tail propelled me along quickly, slicing through the chilly water. I swam around one of the rocks, and popped my head up on the other side. I was curious about these vikings. Their thoughts were so different from those of an Aquaborealis, all loud and darting from one thing to another. Kind of like a school of minnows. Cautiously, I watched the vikings. So caught up in staying hidden from the vikings on land, I didn't watch behind me. A net was thrown over me suddenly, and I whipped around. Vikings had snuck up on me and I was now trapped! Futily, I struggled against the net, even diving under the water to try and break free there. It was no use. A viking with a wiry black beard raised an axe over my head. I stared up at it in fear, and shrank back in the net. Before the axe fell, another viking, a teenager, ordered "Stop! What do we have here?" He put one boot on me, leaning on the butt of his axe. "This is a new type of dragon!" He exclaimed. "Keep it here overnight. In the morning, I will add its skull to my collection!" He ordered triumphantly. The vikings drove iron nails through the net, pinning it to the rock. All the while, I struggled until one of them threatened to drive a nail through my tail. Then I stopped struggling, and prepared for a long night.
Azura's (My viking) POV:
I flew through the storm, on the back of my skrill Spark. Expertly, she rode the tangled air currents, but fighting against the elements was a futile endeavor. Ahead, I spotted Berserker Island. It wasn't my favorite place, ever since I had almost died there a couple times, but we had to wait out the storm. "Take us down girl" I said, patting Spark's neck. She folded her wings, and dove, landing on a rocky ledge above the harbor. I dismounted, and walked over to the edge, kneeling so I wouldn't be seen. Far below, I could see a blue and purple dragon of a kind I had never seen before, not even heard about, imprisoned half in, half out of the water in a net. "I wonder what that dragon is?" I said to myself. Looking closer, I heard two vikings talking not far below. "Well, tomorrow Daggur will have that dragon's skull mounted on his wall. Pity really. Its so beautiful and gentle." Daggur was going to kill that beautiful dragon! I had to help, to rescue it. My best chance would be once it was en route to the arena. "Tomorrow, Spark, we are going to rescue that dragon" I said, looking back at my companion. She stared at me, as if saying "Good. I don't like Daggur any more than you do." I walked over to my friend, and pulled a blanket from her saddle bag. Curling up at the base of the cliff, I fell asleep.
In the morning, once the storm blew itself out, the vikings came. They chained my legs and wings, and dragged me out of the water and up the cliffs to an arena of sorts. The teenage viking from before (I heard that his name was Daggur), was waiting inside, twirling his double bladed axe. I whimpered in fear, knowing that he was going to kill me, and strained against the chains. One of the vikings cuffed me upside the head, and dragged me to the center of the arena. I was chained to the stone floor, and I stared at Daggur in fear as he raised his axe, then let it fall. I closed my eyes, preparing to feel the blade. A clang caused me to open my eyes, and what I saw astounded me. A female viking with copper hair was blocking Daggur's axe with her sword. "I won't let you kill this dragon, Daggur" The female said. "Azura" Daggur sneered. "How dare you return to my island!" He howled, pulling his weapon away and attacking. The female, Azura, dodged his strike, and returned with one of her own. I watched as they fought, neither one gaining the upper hand. Suddenly, a blue and purple dragon leaped down from the netting above. It spread its wings wide and hissed, lightning crackling amid its spiky frill. Daggur stared at the Skrill, and Azura took advantage of his distraction. She slammed the butt of her sword into the back of his head and Daggur crumpled to the ground. The guards had run away in fear, so Azura ran over to me and pulled a pin from her braid and used it to pick the lock on my chains. "Come on" she said, beckoning with her left hand, her right holding her sword. I followed her and the skrill into the stone tunnels that led outside. Once we reached the open air, Azura mounted her skrill and took off. I followed her, launching into the air and beating my wings hard. I followed her all the way to another island, one I had never been to.
We landed in the main square, I cautiously looked around, ready to take off at a moment's notice. A skinny boy with brown hair and a metal leg walked up, acompanied by a black Night Fury. I tensed, ready to fly. "Azura, who's this?" The boy asked. "I took shelter from the storm on Berserker Island and I rescued her from Daggur. He was going to kill her, Hiccup" Azura explained. Hiccup. That must be the boy's name. "I've never seen anything like her" Azura said. I opened my thoughts and 'said' "I am an Aquaborealis. A sea dragon." Azura and Hiccup jumped, looking around wildly before Hiccup realized I had said it. "Oh! An Aquaborealis! There's a few others of your kind here on Berk" He directly adressed me. "Azura, you've never met the other Aquaborealis riders, but there are a few on Berk." "Could I stay here?" I asked Hiccup. "I was seperated from my pod when I went exploring, and it would be nice to stay here." "Of course!" Hiccup said. "If you are okay with it, you could stay with me" Azura offered. I smiled. "It would be my pleasure." Since then, I have lived on Berk with Azura, and I even joined her family of dragons!

This feathered beauty was made by the wonderful Amberleaf7.
She is very gentle and loves hatchlings. She would never hurt anything except in self defense. She also has an excellent sense of humor, and can think her way out of practically anything.

I found Adiria when I was stranded in Berk's wilderness after a failed hiking trip where I had gotten lost. Don't ask why (But it involved red-eyed boars and a piece of bacon). I had made camp for the night, when I saw something streak across the sky (Maybe a comet?) and land in a field not far away. Curious, and unable to fall asleep, I went to investigate. There was a smoking crater in the middle of the field, and through the snoke I saw a beautiful purple dragon who looked like a piece of the night sky. Her wing was broken, so I slid into the crater to try and help. As I approached her, the purple dragon raised her head. "I won't hurt you..." I said soothingly, seeing that the dragon was nervous. Using some rope, and a sutibly straight tree branch, I managed to splint the dragon's wing. Over the span of a month, I helped the dragon- who I had named Adiria- recover. It involved lots and lots of fish, let me say that. All the while, I was unaware that Hiccup and some of my friends were searching for me. One evening, just after the sun went down, Adira's wing had healed and she was ready to fly. "Go on, try" I encouraged her. She leaped into the air, beating her wings hard. Soon, Adira was soaring above the field and across the night sky. I smiled, happy. She landed and looked into my eyes. "Thank you" I heard a melodic voice say in my head. "You... you can talk?" I said, surprised. "Yes. My species, the Galaxy Furies, are telepathic. I know that you are lost, and I can help you back to your village." "Thank you" I said as she allowed me onto her back. We took off and soared over the dark forest. I had never realized that Adira glowed slightly, like the soft radience of stars. We landed in Berk's main square and I slipped off her back. "Thank you" I said, extremely grateful. "I should be thanking you. Without your help, my wing would not have healed properly." "So, where will you go now?" I asked. "I am not yet strong enough to fly back up to the stars, so I will regain my strength elsewere." "You could stay with me" I offered. Adira accepted, and has stayed with me ever since, occasionally visiting the world high in the stars.

I've built popcorn grenades and I got grounded for a month after I put one in my dad's car engine. It was worth it. It was so worth it. for the record my IQ is 117 though i know 5 guys whose IQ is above 150 I don't really like them.
The life grenade still has kinks to work out (it exploded) but that's what the summer semester is for!
to build a popcorn grenade:
- 55g of popcorn kernels
- one 500ml bottle of water
- 2 MRE heating packet.
- 2 small ziplock bags
- duct tape
-label the two ziplock bags A and B
- put the MRE heating packet into a ziplock bag A
- put the popcorn kernals into ziplock bag B
- put bag A inside bag B
- put the nested bags into the water bottle making sure they don't fall in.
To use: (all steps must be done within 5 seconds)
1. pour water into bag A and seal both bag a and bag B with duct tape
2. put the cap back on the bottle and seal it with duct tape
3. throw it at unsuspecting victim
If it doesn't work just add more MRE packets, pressure varies from location to location.
When they got home, the dragons were whining. They wanted to get out and go flying. Marianne sighed. She looked at the weather, then her calendar, and found that it was a new moon that night, with clouds. She sent a silent prayer that there would be maintainence on the radars at the base. She picked up her cell and called a friend.
"Hello?" Joanne Truden answered.
"Hey Joanne, it's Marianne. I've got some doves in the eagles nest who need to stretch their jengers," she said. Hiccup and the others looked at her, horribly confused.
"Hey, Marianne. How are you?" She understood the question as "Who are they?"
"They're the Vikings from a recent," she answered. There was a code between everyone who knew about the multi-dimensional travelers. What she'd just said was "They're from the How to Train Your Dragon Viking village of Berk" which was the only "recent" movie that had come out. "I'm just wondering if the scanners are down for maintainence?"
"Yeah, I called my power company today and they'll be down all night, but they're reimbursing us for that time by providing generators," she replied.
Marianne sighed with relief. "Okay, thanks, Joanne. I'll talk to you later," she said. "Toodley-pipsky." She hung up and turned to Hiccup and the others. "If your dragons can wait until tonight, the army base will be down all night, so you guys can fly around for a bit. Just remember to return to where the bright beacon is. I'll show you guys it about twenty minutes before it's time for you guys to head out."
