I hardly ever make a thread at all, but I feel like giving out some advise for Roleplaying

This advise is done for all structured RPs, the rating or content depends on the will of the host. It will contain all the basic rules on creating a structured Roleplay. All information will be posted on a reply below. Please do not reply to the post below.

This is the most important rule in structured roleplays. Godmoding is having your character unable to be hit. This isn't just having OP characters, but taking control over everything else in the RP: Weather, NPCs, and on the top of the list, expecting or controlling other player's characters in the way the godmoder would want.
{Examples of Godmoding}
"She growls scary enough for everyone will wet their pants." That is controlling somebody else's character. You can explain the sound in description, but the player chooses the emotion/reaction to the growl.
"He pulls out his sword and swipes the beast, killing it." Only if it is not something controlled by the godmoder, it is not okay to instantly kill something. Even if it is the weakest monsters, it is up to the player to decide if it dies. The man could pull out his sword and make a swipe, but the beast could be dodging it.
In other words, Godmoding is taking control of the entire roleplay. Hosts will have the right of controlling the weather and their NPCs, but nobody has the right to control other character's thoughts and actions.

Ego Sue
Characters with ego can still be a good character if change/development is involved while the character progresses. However, if you personally claim that your character is better than everybody else, then that just makes the character really dull in result. Nobody would want to hear continuous rambling on how great your character is and all they want to do is talk about themselves.

Mary Sues / Gary-Stus / Marty-Stus
The proper definition of a Mary Sue are characters driven from the author's wishes and desires. Most Mary Sues tend to have more power and little to no faults; in addition to having a friendship, romantic, or even a family relationship towards any or all the author's favorite characters.
Mary Sues often have enemies out to get her so that the author's character gets attention. The Mary Sue would rather want to get attention, creating dramatic moments when a character ignores her. If the author feels his or her Mary Sue is being ignored, the author may overspice the character's response and have something bad to happen to the Mary Sue and have her plead for the other characters to come to her aid. In conclusion, Mary Sues are characters that tend to shine brighter than any other character in the roleplay.
*Note: Marty Sues or Gary Stus are male Mary Sues. The same rule applies to them equally.

A notorious rule in roleplays is overpowering (OPing). OPing is smaller than Godmodding, but it makes a character to the point where there is nothing they can't do. It doesn't matter how much powers and abilities a character has for the character to become overpowered. Overpowering in weaker characters are having the best rank in everything they do and everything they joined. They can receive unlimited gadgets, or gaining new abilities to solve problems with ease; most commonly, impossible to take down or defeat. Overpowering makes the character really unlikable, and like the Mary Sue, it just pushes back everybody else's character. If you make a character, limit its abilities and come up with weaknesses and flaws.

Instant fixing / Switchblading / Twinking
Whenever there is a problem that comes up, there is a character that happens to pull up the right tool and fixes it single-handedly, no matter how bad a situation is. There could be a reason why the player brought up the situation in the first place. Another example is having to be at the objective without any difficulty going there. The player would rather have the characters struggle to make it from A to B. In Role-plays, it is unacceptable for players to come up with an ability to solve a problem right away.

This applies to making OCs and having them appear in roleplays:
It is not recommended to make a character exactly like you. You can make a character relatable, but don't match its emotions off of what you think about what is going on.

Have your character make mistakes. Give it some flaws.

Never make a character better than you. Some people will make a character that is themselves, but enhance their skills such as drawing, singing, dancing, etc. Some people will give them powers; thus making them really powerful. Typically, it is greater than themselves in general. This can lead to Mary Sueing and/or OPing.

Never make canon characters or OCs better than they are. In roleplays, all characters are nerfed.

There is a few valid definitions of Powergaming.
Maximizing Skills
Do not add powers or abilities to your characters especially without explanation. Some people will constantly add new abilities to your characters to make it out of situations, and typically the character would not use that power again. Players will find this extremely obnoxious and they can reject your character.
Another example of Character Modifications is adding new abilities to other player's characters in attempt to overpower them against enemies. Although realistically, the characters would love the new gadget or the new power, but the players would not be pleased having their character enhanced to superhuman power. This is very similar to "Twinking" which is outfitting the character with all the best gear where the character becomes immensly powerful, or unbeatable.
Drop-Down Characters
Do not force a player to play a character that they don't want to play. Don't take it personally if a player would drop their characters because they don't enjoy playing them. The player has every right whether or not they get to keep the characters, lose their characters, or even kill off their characters. If they have dropped them, do not strive them on picking them up again; otherwise, the player will have a greater desire not to play them again.
Forced Participation
The final form of Powergaming is to force others to participate in unwanted role-playing. For instance, a player who unilaterally describes his character as doing something with (or to) another character that would usually require the other to play along —such as having a fight— is considered to be powergaming.

Like Powergaming, there are many ways to descibe Metagaming; but all in conclusion, a basic form of Metagaming describes a player's use of real-life knowledge concerning the state of the game to determine their character's actions, when said character has no relevant knowledge or awareness under the circumstances. This can refer to plot information in the game such as secrets or events occurring away from the character, as well as facets of the game's mechanics such as abstract statistics or the precise limits of abilities.
All characters shall not be aware of real-life circumatances prior to the role-play. For instance:
Shared Minds
Do not have your character have the same opinion about something. If a character happens to like another, all the characters would like that person, but they would manage to pick on the character that they all hate. Not all of your characters should have the same interest, thoughts, agreements, and opinions; in addition, don't have your characters to like every other character.
Secondly, never have your characters defend each other all the time. For example, if one of your characters are in an argument, don't have every one of your characters disagree to the character arguing with yours. If your character loses an argument and become upset, don't have your other characters talk down to the character that won the argument. Winning an argument means you made more valid points than the other person; therefor, one shouldn't even talk down on the winner. It is okay for them to feel bad for the loser, but don't talk down to the winner like he or she is a jerk.
Player vs Character
This is more towards the Real-Life Scenario. Never assume that a player's person is equal to the player. If there is something about a character's personality that you disagree with, do not expect the roleplayer to feel the same way about it. Try your best not to call players by their character's names, nor guess their interests or personality based on what their character thinks.
Instant Participation
Do not have your character randomly jump in on a conversation when you have a reply to it. Nobody has the ability to hop into a scene at exactly right moment. You must have a character not know what is going on or what has been going on before he or she comes in. Whenever someone pulls up a topic you are interested in and your character is not around, it's illogical for the character to jump in and have the right response to.
Don't have your characters get involved in everything. That will get other players to keep their characters from getting into their scenes.
Fourth Wall / Self-Awareness
This is commonly for Structured roleplays that prohibit satire plots. Breaking the Fourth wall in structured role-plays can elliminate plot devises set for the roleplay, especially if it is set in a real-life point of view and the other characters are not self-aware. If the character insists about the fourth wall in a real-life set roleplay, that will completely destroy the logic of the story. In satire role-plays, it can be a common occurance, but destroying the fourth wall is for cartoons. Text-Based Roleplaying is literature, so Self-Awareness must be limited. If you were to do a fourth wall joke in literature, it has to be one that can be missed.

Instant Drama
Do not have your character explain an incredibly tragic past and wants to tell you all about it on your first meeting. Most real people don't like discussing their dirt. Something that you don't do is telling someone instantly what they've been through, especially if it has happened years ago. Explaining something tragic that happened is something that should be personal, and it is up to the other player's characters to find out.

You must never copy and paste a lyric to an existing song to and claim that your character had written it, and of course copy paste somebody else's artwork and claim that your character drew it. Don't take existing work and claim it as your character's work. That would be basic Plagiarism and it is a copyright violation. If someone were to be very sensitive about false credit to their work, they can sue you.
Never denounce yourself so you can get players to respond how you please. That's a form of manipulation and manipulation is a social crime.

Do note: This sin is the number one cause of RP deaths. If you feel like any reason to stop roleplaying, whether it is personal business, behind on schoolwork, or a loss of interest, you have to let people know that you are bailing. You should never just leave without telling other people, otherwise that would hurt the roleplay for the rest of the people.
I have seen people who has asked to join a roleplay but never do anything else. Some could submit a form and properly join the roleplay just to bail out right after without a notification of leaving. You have to let someone know if you have changed your mind.

Thank you for posting this!

I actually was trying to go over my OCS and make them more realistic. I've felt some are a little over the too and this was a great read to help me. Thank you four the hard work you have put in this. I know I am guilty of accidentally godmoding when I first joined, and have op characters. Now that I have read this it gives me a better idea on what not to do!

Thank you again!

My girl Rhei

by me

Name Rheileen
(Include Photo/Screenshot)
Rhei has dark copper blonde hair, that in certian lights may appear to be brown, it hangs down slightly over her aqua eyes, the left of which has three scars running over it from an incident with a skrill when she was a child. Her body and face were scarred during multiple stages of her younger life, so she tends to cover up, and wears a long sleeved black dress/tunic, leggings, gloves/bracers, boots, and a red face scarf. Rhei also loves hoodies, and will most likely be seen wearing a black nightfury hood. Lastly, when she flys at high speeds, Rhei tends to wear a pair of goggles, which otherwise, may either danfgel around her neck, alongside her family medalion, or sit in the pouch she has on her belt.
She carries twin sabres as her weapon of choice.
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Personality: Rhei is a hardworker, and rather mature for her age, this doesn't stop her from loving to kick back and goof off however, and she loves hanging out with people like herself, or even new groups. She works best in a classroom, or team enviorment. Whule she loves free time, she can never truely relax, because her brain is always racing a mile a minute. Rhei loves reading, and enjoys seeking out the parallels between the real world, and that of books. Including finding her role in each story, and trying to pinpoint the major characters, she may or may not talk about this.
While Rhei is typically peacefull and doesn't like picking fights, she will 100% stand up in a fight, and finds it hard to back down, she has a rather quick temper, and as such, won't leave a fight till she has managed to make the other guy remember to not try that sort of thing again. She is also highly protective of her friends and dragons.
Skills: She is highly trained in most forms of sword-fighting, and knows some acrobatics and martial arts, she is a relatively good cook, and an up and coming healer. So while her healing skills aren't the best, she can manage in a pinch, and keep you alive until a real healer is around. Also, she is an up and coming master of speaking Dragonese.
Weaknesses: Rhei has a strong fear of falling, and therefor of heights. If however she is on her dragon, the fear will subside, and she can manage. She is a poor swimmer, and can get anxious if grabbed in a dragons claws, this is mostly due however to her time fighting and fearing dragons as a child.
Other: Rhei is not native of Berk, and actually comes from a French settlement further south. Fortunately, she learned Norse from visiting traders, so this means she is skilled in speaking French as well as Norse.

I'm thinking of starting a new roleplay myself see this link :http://forum.schoolofdragons.com/content/roleplay-ideas-3

Could I link this in the rules when I do start one? I think it would help with new players!

Great thread! These are all things I have had to learn through myself through bits and pieces; hopefully new roleplayers will not have to do the same with this information openly out there.

I would also like to add, BE CAREFUL WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES! They are not romantic, cool, something you can fix easily, etc.. they are (often) long-term MENTAL (sometimes physical, depending on how they cope) STRUGGLES that your character has! Do your research and portray it as accurately as you can! Seriously, it doesn't hurt to google "depression in characters" (or whatever mental illness) and reading one of the many guides.

Portraying characters with mental illnesses wrongly not only annoys other people, but it can hurt people with mental illnesses' overall reputation to naive/uninformed people. It can give bad stereotypes and misinformation to normal people and other people who want a character with said mental illness, and the cycle goes on.

Thanks SoD!

If you guys see me in-game (I'm a viking named DeadlySilverNadder-- creative I know lol..) and you try to talk to me and I don't respond but jump or do emotions, I'm probably muted.

A wild post appeared!!!

Hey, do you mine if I link this thread in future rps? Often times in the rules section it just says "normal RP rules" but if your new to rping, you don't know what that means. Listing out all the "normal" RP rules in the rules section takes up space and deters people from reading that rp's rules unqiue to it. It would be easier to say "normal RP rules" then link this thread.

Wolf is my in-game character. Her full name is 'Wolf and Star'. She takes on my own personality, which is quite similar to that of Lynx. During quests, Wolf loves to muck around and try to break the system by utilizing glitches- just for laughs, but she always produces reliable results. She is a fair Viking and she never uses glitches for her own personal gain. Some of my profile info will be listed below:.............

Lynx is bold and loud. She is like Luna Lovegood in the sense that she is rather... odd. Loud, shameless and weird. She is more animal-like than human. Lynx enjoys being flashy, showing off her skills. Once she sets her mind to something, she is naturally good at it. The problem is that she loses focus easy and doesn't like setting herself to standards. She craves adventure and can grow bored easily. She is particularly fast on her feet but has low stamina levels. She is strong and tall for her age. Lynx is stubborn and laid-back most of the time. She does not like to follow orders. Some of her skills include: being double jointed, the ability to be able to climb almost any surface, very good at mimicking animal sounds and is EXTREMELY good at sneaking around. However, there is a side to Lynx that she does not show very often. She is very lazy and selfish at times, mainly because she lacks compassion towards humankind, caring more about dragons and animals more so than humans. This tendency causes her to be merciless in the face of battle.

.....................Art was done by Marg The Loony and Chameishida

Lyra is very sheltered and shy. She suppressed her emotion and looks down on those who do are emotional. Lyra can be rudely sarcastic at times and accidentally offend someone. Don't expect a public display of remorse. This does not mean she is feelingless though, she feels emotion, but, she is just very insecure about it. She does not like showing weakness or personal attachment, more insecurity, and less sociopathy. Though in fights, she doesn't appear to have a sense of honor and isn't afraid to fight dirty. Lyra is willing to do anything to ensure her well being, and the well being of her mother. Which could be a weakness. She values her self-preservation. She usually has her hood masking her pale delicate face, which sunburns easily and long hair.

 Art was done by DuskDayBreak

One of Nyx's most defining traits is her brash and sarcastic attitude towards everything that breathes. She is the type of girl who does not have to do much to stand apart from the crowd. However, Nyx is no way an extrovert, the reason why she puts herself in social situations is purely one of two reasons, the first one being is that she wants to go people watching. Where she sits in some corner and watches people, how they react and their social cues. She just observes them, untangles their motives and finds their interests. The second reason is that she wants to show up the competition, along with being stubborn, Nyx is a show-off. The problem is, natural talent can only get you so far. Because of her years from people watching, she has become very keen on observations. Smarter than the average person, she is able to look at any given Viking and deduce a thing or two about them. Sort of like Sherlock Holmes but not nearly as skilled. With her great intelligence, comes social anxiety. Nyx buried this under layers of brashness but, this insecurity can be sorted out by the way she avoids social and emotional get-togethers. Due to her inability to express her social anxiety, Nyx finds herself at a lack of friends. She usually plays this off as her not wanting any friends but sometimes, when a dragon is your only friend, you can get lonely. The result, she makes a lot of enemies. Usually because of her showoff-ness and Brash attitude, and sarcasm. In reality, Nyx wants some friends, but she sees this as a weakness and as part of her insecurities which she buries deep inside of her and does not let anyone see. She's not edgy, she's just misguided.

Aeryn Nyght

 Art was done by Tosilohi

Aeryn also has a sense of show-off-ness, an over-the-top, dramatic character. She takes any given situation, brandishes it with a flare of sarcasm and performs, drawing attention to herself all the while managing to act edgy or sweet, or however she wanted to be perceived. This need of hers to put on a show made her invaluable to the man while she was on his side. Like the theatre kid she should be, Aeryn has expertly crafted this skill of taking on different personas, and she isn't afraid to add in some cliche drama to her dialogue and actions. Constantly referencing pop-culture, Aeryn is interesting, but the tiring person to be around. The problem with her extroverted, boldness is that few get to witness the actual Aeryn, not one of her many characters. In a sense, it is quite similar to the multifaceted personality disorder, only, Aeryn recognizes her many personas. She chooses not to show anyone her true colors due to some insecurities. These different personalities are the shields she has put up for emotional protection. With Aeryn, you never know if her reactions are genuine or just part of the show.

Gail Cyrek

 Art was done by Katarile

Gail is very softspoken. She does not like attracting much attention as people have a tendency to stare. She is very insecure about her face and does her best to conceal it. She gets very annoyed if someone asks about it. However, with this silence comes the ability to listen. She observes the world around her and is able to spot even the tiniest of details. This silent brilliance has made her a stellar judge of character. She reads body language very well and has a certain flare of stubbornness about her. Still, she is very dark. Generally, when she speaks, most people cannot hear what she says, which is probably a good thing because what she does say is usually pretty dark or gory. She often says random and slightly disturbing things and speaks extremely softly anyone can barely hear her. Gail seems to be pretty timid but is generally ruthless. She is a bit of a pyromaniac and will do almost anything to get her way.

Wiggles the whispering death ate my subject

So much yes to everything here. Espessully leaving RPs without saying so and signing up and never posting. Those two are just rude! Espessully in RPs with limited spots where that spot could go to someone else actully interested. Leaving without saying so can be exused if there was a reason like the internet going out or suprise grounding where the parent didn't have the decency to even let the person explain but most of the time it's just rude and only rude. It's most common early on and if you get a RP going it usully stays strong for a while but my goodness do these k.ill so many RPs on this forum alone.

Seen here with a snow nadder and a statue Termite gave her because she couldn't sell it.

(Wiggles bit it's left arm off.)

Below is my profile pic made bigger to show the amazing detail

It's Hypergoof going berserk with a durian mace.

(Drawn by my amazing sister)

(She even drew the fur on the shoes)

(My in game character)- A friendly young Viking who interacts better with dragons than with people. This is partly because although she now lives on Berk her family was originally from the Berserker tribe. When Dagger came to power Hypergoof, her sister and her parents were forced to flee as they were terrified of their new chief after he threatened to kill Hypergoof's parents for speaking out. The family found a new home on Berk. After working hard to get the Hooligans (what Hiccup's tribe was called in the books) to trust her (mostly) Hypergoof got a job working at a dragon rehabilitation center which is part of the reason she knows so many dragons. Hypergoof has a few problems. One, she is terrified of hot things. (A problem I myself have) She will not touch any stoker class dragons as a result. (With the exception of two individuals) She will still try to help a injured stoker as long as she doesn't have to touch it. Her other problem is also based on one of mine. I am Hypersensitive to sound and certain noises hurt me. Hypergoof has this too but in her the pain can cause her to go Berserk. One of the worst noises is whistling. She will attack anyone who does it near her. (Note this does not mean that I will fire troll those who's character whistles in game. It is a character trait for role playing and storytelling only.) Hypergoof also can't stand large crowds for too long. She will often retreat if things get too noisy. Hypergoof is a good fisher and farmer but a horrible fighter. (Unless she goes Berserk in which case she may get hurt but will do significant damage to her opponent.) She is generally friendly unless she gets stressed out in which case she becomes snappy. Most of her friends are dragons. Because of this Hypergoof has picked up dragoneese and speaks it quite fluently.

Littlebird (Hypergoof's sister) and Hypergoof's parents don't have much back story at the moment. None are in game.

Termite- Is one of Hypergoof's few human friends. (She is in game now as HypersFriendTermite. The chances of seeing her are low though. If seen she will probably be with Wiggles.) She is a woodworker hence the name. She didn't trust Hypergoof when they first met but soon found that they had a lot in common. She is the true trainer of Wiggles but often leaves him with Hypergoof when she must work on something.  Hypergoof and Termite like to take dragon food out into the wilderness ware they wait to see what shows up. A pass time they lovingly call dragonwaching.

(wants to chew on Mildew's new chair just off camera)

(FUN FACT: Mildew is one of the only people Wiggles doesn't like)

A young rambunctious whispering death with a sweet heart but a naughty mind. Hypergoof's friend Termite adopted him as a baby when his whole family was killed by dragon slayers. Unlike most of his species Wiggles could be described as... cuddly. He wants to be friends with everyone he meets and seems completely oblivious to his size and appearance. He simply does not understand that he is scary and is baffled that some people won't play with him or give him a hug. His best friend growing up was Termite's mutt of a dog Drool, and Wiggles learned the odd habit of waging his tail from his canine friend. Most dignified dragons (especially whispering deaths) are appalled by the behavior but no amount of laughing at Wiggles or begging him to stop for the sake of dignity will change anything. Wiggles simply doesn't care. All that matters to him is how much fun he's having. He will even allow himself to be dressed up for snoggletog and will parade around in the Jingle bells and antlers with pride. (As seen here.) Wiggles is an all around charming and sweet creacher but he is not without flaws. He can not be left alone for more than five minutes or else he will chew on something, especially furniture. Usually damaging it beyond repair. He can not be taken to a marketplace because the concept that Termite "hasn't bought that yet and so he shouldn't eat it" is something he can not seem to grasp. Nore is the one that "That doesn't belong to us!" Termite has taken to carrying a bag of dried mutton strips (Mutton is Wiggles's favorite) to redirect the serpent's attention if she catches him with the look in his eyes that she learned to recognize as his "I'm going to chew on that" face. Despite her best efforts Wiggles is a hand full and Termite often leaves him with Hypergoof if she has to go do some woodworking. Wiggles thinks of Termite as his mother but he thinks of Hypergoof as a friend and enjoys playing with her. Hypergoof shows no fear towards him at all and will even let Wiggles hug her if he asks permission first. (Hypergoof does not like being touched without warning but will happily accept a hug from a friend.) Interestingly Hypergoof found that Wiggles is a very good racer despite his poor eyesight.

(Relaxing at home)

The first dragon Hypergoof ever rescued and one of her closest friends. He is a Pink and Blue deadly nadder. When he was a hatchling his curiosity got the better of him. He wandered away from his nest in the dead of winter and found himself lost in a blizzard which would have been the end of him if he hadn't stumbled onto the front lawn of Hypergoof's house. His crys alerted the family who quickly took him in out of the cold and thus saved his life. Cuteseepie and Hypergoof have been friends ever since. Cuteseepie has a mellow gentle nature broken up occasionally for excitement at an adventure. He will defend Hypergoof or if need be prevent her from attacking someone who whistled. His level headedness balances out against Hypergoof's goofyness rather nicely.

(Showing off again)

A skrill that Hypergoof found injured while dragon watching. Her success in helping him helped her get the job she currently has and also built up a friendship between Hypergoof and Ziggy. It probably helped that Ziggy is not a very old skrill, only having just left his parents, before somehow getting hurt. Much like a cat Ziggy tries to be more dignified than he really is. One moment showing off his impressive wingspan with a majestic yawn and the next he's off chaiseing a light or a leaf when he thinks no one is looking. He often roles his eyes when Hypergoof playfully teases him by saying his name in a funny pitch or calling him "The Zigster" but a poorly hidden grin betrays the fact that he doesn't mind as much as he lets on. Ziggy is decently friendly to most people who don't insult his dignity (only his close friends are allowed to do that) but he is still technically a wild skrill. He spends most of his time off chaising storms and doing whatever else wild skrills do only he stops by every once in a while to visit Hypergoof. Manny people wonder why he keeps coming back as he always seems more annoyed with Hypergoof than anything but it is just a mask. A false front. He secretly really enjoys her company. In fact perhaps Hypergoof's absurdity amuses him. FUN FACT: Before meeting Ziggy it was Hypergoof's life dream to see a live skrill. (Partly her Berserker heritage) For her meeting Ziggy was akin to meeting a celebrity. Of course things got more normal between them as they got to know each other but Hypergoof is still pretty darn proud that a skrill let her be his friend.

(Knows the owner of this house hates it when he sits there)

A young flightmare who was one of Ziggy's friends then also became Hypergoof's friend when Ziggy brought him to Berk. Unlike Ziggy though, Causemoe decided that he liked Berk and the school so much that he would stay. He is a complete showoff and loves to be the center of attention. He can get huffy if he finds someone who does one of his favorite things better than him. He especially hates it that Wanda can glow brighter than him. She often tones down her glow when she's near him to spare his feelings.

(Knows the best places for the best view)

As mentioned before, Hypergoof is scared of stoker class dragons. When approached by a fireworm her normal reaction is to flip out as if the little dragon was a bee. Wanda however is an exception to this rule and not only is she a fireworm but she is a fireworm queen. Hypergoof once got herself lost in a snowstorm and was found by one of Wanda's workers unconscious and soon to freeze if something wasn't done. Wanda is a very empathetic dragon. Even though she didn't trust humans she didn't want to see a helpless creacher d.ie in such a way. She took Hypergoof into her nest to warm up. Hypergoof was stuck there for several days not knowing which way was home until Cuteseepie tracked her down by scent and took her back to the village. During Hypergoof's time in the nest Wanda decided she liked this little human. Hypergoof was terrified of most of Wanda's children and since Wanda didn't understand Norse yet Hypergoof communicated her unease by sticking as close to the fireworm queen as she would allow. Purposely mimicking the bodylanguig of a scared puppy to get her point across. Wanda was sympathetic of Hypergoof's fear and allowed the little human to stay near. Keeping the meaner members of her family at bay until Cuteseepie could find the lost viking. Wanda was a bit suprized to find that a dragon was the one looking for the girl. She has a healthy dose of curiosity in her and often visits Berk for "research purposes" as she calls it. Wanda is curious about humans and wants to learn about them. Hypergoof is grateful to Wanda for her kindness and will come when she calls. Something Wanda finds amusing but also gives her an easy target to study. Personalitywise Wanda is the type of person one might have a fancy tea party with. She is every bit a queen but is also an intellectual with a kind heart. She hangs around Berk to study the uneeq human and dragon interactions there. Seeking how to possibly spread that type of friendship for the good of dragon kind.

(Wonders if she'd get in trouble for blasting me into the water behind the camera)

A pink thunderdrum who someone in the dragon rehab center found as a baby then dumped on Hypergoof since no one wanted to deal with the hatchling. Their relationship started out terribly due to Hypergoof's sound sensitivity. In the beginning Hypergoof could barely stand Burpetta but eventually the dragon realized that her loudness has hurting the human and learned to be more gentle with Hypergoof's delicate ears. Sometimes Burpetta can be careless but she never means any harm and will correct her behavior when she eventually realizes she did wrong. She is kind by nature but loves a bit of mischief now and then. She also has a bit of the stubbornness common in her breed. Once she sets her mind to something it is difficult to convince her otherwise.

(Sleeping like the baby he is)

A screaming death. He is the baby of the group despite being the biggest member of it. When Alven found out that one of the eggs he'd planted under Berk had hatched a screaming death he decided he wanted such a beast for himself. He knew he couldn't capture the adult so he decided to get his hands on a hatchling. He captured a bunch of the successful breeding pair's family members in the hopes that more of them would carry the incredibly rare screaming death gene. The captive dragons were force bread and after many many attempts Alven got what he wanted. He didn't get to keep it though as a couple Hooligans who had snuck into Alven's hideout looking for helpful info about future plans found the baby screaming death instead. They took it back to Berk to figure out what to do with it. Several people wanted to kill the little guy before he could grow into an island eater but Hypergoof over heard and was horrified. She knew what it felt like to be disliked for what she was rather than who she was. Some people didn't trust her because she was a Berserker. She knew it wasn't fair to judge someone that way. She stole Chomp and (With Wiggles and Termite's permission) hid him down Wiggles's tunnels. Wiggles didn't mind and enjoyed having a roommate to play with. Chomp stayed there unknown until his loudness and the sheer amount of food being brought down there gave him away. By then though he was old enough that he had enough personality to proved him a gentle giant rather than a monster and he was allowed to stay. He is not at all a full grown screaming death and has the personality of a giant toddler. He is surprisingly gentle especially considering his breed. He is so mild tempered that he will stare blankly at fire trolls wondering what they are doing. He will only engage if he thinks it's a game. Despite his gentleness his size and strength can be a problem. He will occasionally knock someone over with his tail by accident then stare at them in confusion not smart enough to understand why the person fell but knowing it was still somehow his fault. When other screaming deaths were allowed into the school Chomp was thrilled to have playmates his size. Chomp is very much still a baby mindwise. He is very food oreeinted and can be prompted to do nearly anything for a snack. It's a very good thing he doesn't consider humans food. It's hard to imagine that he could ever be related to the screaming death who once tried to eat Berk but he is. The danjoris one happens to be his somewhat distant uncle. Fun fact: Hypergoof often refers to Chomp's uncle as Mr. Island munch and insists that she will continue to do so until his actual name is found out or created.

(LOVES sand)

(I really shouldn't be suprized)

A female sand wraith. Punaluu comes from a subspeasys of sand wraith on a volcanic island with black sand. (Like the beach Punaluu is named after.) As such they adapted to the environment by becoming black. A side affect of this is that now the subspeacys looks even more like a nightfurry than the normal ones. Some money hungry showmen found out about them and decided to make a quick buck. They stoll an egg from this island and paraded the black hatchling around claiming it to be a nightfurry. This charade ended when they made the mistake of bringing their show to Berk. Seeing that the dragon was being treated badly the Hooligans took the baby from the showmen and took it to the dragon rehabilitation center for treatment for whip wounds and malnutrition. Punaluu is much healthier now and is a happy energetic young sand wraith. One problem she has is that her dark coloring is only designed for a certain type of area and she can not camouflage most of the time because of it. Not being able to hide occasionally gives her episodes of anxiety but a quick trip to a beach ushuly fixes it. She is very shy around strangers but around those she knows she is a complete goof. She can also be a bit naughty. Sometimes she feels out of place like she doesn't belong and so interacts well with Hypergoof who doesn't fit in all that well ether.

I have been guilty of doing the leaving RP thing without saying randomly. I don't know if I did it on this forum though (maybe I have), but I really don't remember doing RPs on SoD forums. But it mostly happens because when I do something that makes me "commit" to something my mind instantly backs out and everything instantly feels like a chore to go on for whatever reason. Then once I am gone for a while, I feel guilty and then not go on for even longer.  Then I come back because of worrying too much but don't say anything because I'm too worried. Because of this, I don't do any long term roleplays. (It's just too unhealthy for me + disrespectful to the other people)

this also probably explains why i don't come on the next day in games when I say "i'll be on tomorrow"

Wiggles the whispering death ate my subject

I thought of something.

I wouldn't know what to title this one.

Maybe The Vengeful Hero or something.

If your character has a vengeful streak that's ok. It's ok to have a character who will snap at others and hold grudges. However a problem starts when you expect everyone else to see all of the actions your character does as justified. You can get away with whatever you want in a fanfic but in RPs some social rules are still in place within the universe and while you may break them don't do so always expecting to be the one who was right in the end. Your character might be wrong or their opinion might just be outnumbered. And please don't state that you hold the same view as your character to try to soften the way the other characters are judging them. It's fine to share that you and your character do line up a lot when they do but a fight maybe isn't the best moment. It makes it seem like you're taking the disagreement of the characters personally. Now, if you ARE taking it personally maybe that needs to be talked out out of character but people will probably end up telling you some of the other stuff in this paragraph as well as the characters aren't the players thing.

Actively Disliking A Character.

I don't just mean that your character and someone else's characters don't get along. Tapping in on the hive mind sort of problem what I'm really talking about is when the player doesn't like a character so they automatically make all their characters hate the hated character even if they barely met. They latch onto any reason at all even going so far as to have had their characters hear storys of the hated character from their other characters as an excuse to attack that character. Even if the hated character was designed to be picked on the hostility can easily go much further then what is deserved. It can quickly become bullying and sure, you're not bullying the actual person but the player probably still won't appreciate the fact that their character can't do anything because they're too busy fending off attacks.

I am putting this on my track list because I'm gonna need this.

Anyway, absolute yes, yes, and yes at all of it. Great job nailing and describing what the rules mean. I had these experiences role-playing as well so I can relate to all of it.

Funny, the one that bothers me the most would actually be grammar issues. You can basically call me a Grammar N.azi if you wish ^v^. And I might be a hypocrite saying this because I have committed grammar sins a couple of times that I have noticed: commonly sentence fragments. But I see comma splices, run-on sentences, and even text talk and those bother me a LOT. The word choice kinda bothers me.

To Hypergoof: I Vengeful Hero sounds like it would perfectly fit the rule in my opinion. Great job nailing that one too.

I would like to add one too:

Never take RPing too personally!

This is self-explanatory, but I'll do my best to describe it. I seen people in RPs that just becomes too emotional when something occurs in the RP. If there is propaganda or conflict and the character just does something wrong, making mistakes is apparently a death threat to them and the author takes that as an attack. Role playing is not life, it's just a game. It is a pastime; a hobby; it's for fun. Don't take it like it is your reason to live.

Edit: I must admit though, that I have made some of these mistakes RPing as well and the sin I'm most ashamed of is abandonment. Sometimes I completely lose interest and I was very shy back then so I didn't tell anyone I was leaving. I break the Shared Minds rule too because some things I find about a character in a RP, it irritates me to the point I alter my character's personality. I'm currently working on controlling that and become a more confident RPer. I have German in my blood, so I have kinda a temper problem. ((no offense to Germans))

And I should listen to myself too, not to take RPs personally.
