The Trial of Riders ~ 9 Spot Httyd RP
As her two allies were conversing with each other, Paz gently pulled Westra out of the way of the playing dragons. After she turned herself back to the conversation, the duo had come back and knocked Paz off of her feet. Fortunetly, she was able to somersault when she hit the ground and semi-gracefully landed on her feet.
She turned to watch the two and smirked at their antics, but suddenly stopped when she remembered her earlier conversation with Minty.
Giving her a pointed look, the dragon got the message. She walked over to Gemina and Hurricane and started chit-chatting with them.
'gooood ridance.' Paz mentally narrated.
((ready-ish! Its evening where I am so won't be able to Rp much))
((My brain has betrayed me... -sigh-. Kk... So while we wait... What do we post? Do our characters just kinda hang around? Or do we chat? Or???))
((I offer an alliance with Stormy (Squid) and Hurricane and anyone open to a 3 way alliance!))
((is it better to have more people in your alliance or less? I know in the Hunger Games, statistically, the smaller your group is the better. After all, everyone wants to win and the more people in your group the more people there are to betray you. Especially when your into the final rounds. On the other hand, you cannot hurt one alliance member without the others trying to take you down. You have more protection, especially in battle. And, it would help in the last round to have more people in your group. BUT, the more people in your group, the more noisy you are thus alerting the enemy... Hmmm. Is it better to have a large alliance? Or a small? Or none at all... ))
((Which is why I limited it to 3 people. A spot is guaranteed for Squid (in the hopes that she'll agree and ally with me XD) and anyone who wants to be in a 3 way alliance))
((I get the feeling that both Xander and Ivy are lone wolfs. Their alliance will probably push both of them out of their comfort zones. And we gotta stick with what our characters would do, not us. Which is one of the hardest parts of roleplaying. So, I think we should keep the alliance small. It I'm good either way.))
Rogue mounted Spartan when the horn signaled the next round. She flew after Xander and Banshee to the battlefield. Astrid explained the statistics of round. Rogue could feel electric spasms coming off of Spartan. She brought put jer bow from its leather case and strung it, slinging her quiver over her left shoulder. She checked her dirk blade before resheathing it. She had taken off her knife belt for the first round, and now she buckled it back on, her throwing knives on one hip and her longer, lethal dirk on the other. She scanned over her other weapons she use for this battle. Spartan flexed his claws and shot off zaps of electricity, eager for the coming battle.
((Gtg bed now. Good night y'all!))
The long low warbling sound of a horn interrupted Ivy mid-handshake. She automatically jerked back to look for the scorce of the sound. One of their overseers, Astrid was balanced on her Nadder. It was time to go. Ivy cupped her hands around her mouth, immitaiding a Triple Stryke. Nightshade dropped the tree she was playing with, looked at Banshee then bounded over to Ivy. Ivy mounted her dragon and followed Astrid over twords a wide open, empty dirt field. Already she was planing and organizing her attack. There was some trees and the edges of the field, if she kept to those, it would offer more cover and they would have to fight less enimies.
Based on Astrid's description, they were to preform close quarters combat, rendering her how and her throwing knives useless. Ivy landed on the ground when she caught Xander watching her. She turned and looked him in the white eye holes in his mask. She almost looked away to carry out her plans when she remembered that her was her ally. And because of that, she had to share her schemes. Discreetly, she gestured twoards the forest. If her and her ally could get over into the tree line, the going would be easy.
Ivy slid off her bow and quiver, she handed it to Nightshade then leaned in and whispered something to the dragon. Nightshade cooed and grabbed her weapons and flew off. Then returned a few seconds later having safely stashed them on the otherside to be collected after the challenge. Ivy arranged her weapons, she kept her intricate dagger and her rather bland broad sword. She headed for Xander and stopped Infront of him.
"Still got those bombs?" She stated.
"Yes I do and It looks like you've got a plan." Xander nodded revealing a hole beltful of them. Ivy smirked.
"Good. We will need the distraction." Ivy turned her gaze back to the forest. "If we can get into the treeline, it should offer us cover. And we will have minimal run ins with the enemies."
'Whatever they may be' Ivy thought ominously.
((okay. It is getting late where I live and I have finals tomorrow. So, imma go to bed. Cya.))
"Hey, I'm almost fifteen, and I pretty strong for my age," she replied to her new friend, "so what's you're name?"
Before she could reply, the horn sounded for the next round.
It was a battle.
This would be easy.
VexyLu was trained at martial arts.
((Just putting it out there, VexyLu is a very talented martial artist, so I want her to come a good place, but she came first last round. Could she come about third? If she does, I promise she won't do so well in the next rounds. (I'm really sorry she is scoring so high)
Anyway, sorry I can't RP a lot, I have limited data atm.))
As they headed to the pit, the three new allies and their dragons stood in one section of the ring, waitng for the trial to start.
"Anyone have an idea for a plan? Weapon wise, we all have axes of different styles, and I know you, Westra, also have a slingshot that might be of more use then your axe. Does that help much?"
"Yeah, my slingshot should help. But I think this guys might help more," she said as Geminia walked towards them. "He has this amazing gel that he can spill all over the ground that is highly flammable. If one spark touches it, the whole thing will be in flames and will become a wall of fire. Geminia is also fast. If he can he around some opponents and spill some flammable material around them and set it on fire, they'd be traped." She suggested. "What can your guys dragons do?"
At Westra's question, Paz gave another whistle, which sent a dagger-like projectile towards her fast she managed to catch in her hand.
"Spine shots and fire that would melt rock."
Aiming for a random tree, Paz let the spine fly.
"How 'bout Hurricane, besides the obvious?"
((Ivy doesn't feel anything for Xander buT... i still ship it
Fite me. ((I ship Draco x Apple from HP. OKAY?!))
((Yay! Hoist the sails! Ship Xaivy is ready to set sail!)
(I am seriously so happy rn. XD))
((Is anyone going to ally themselves with me? If not, can I ally myself with Xander and Ivy? Would Wolf and Buddy be ok with that?))
((Eh. Wasn't there someone looking for a 3 way alliance?))
Stormy first assessed the obvious- the weaponry on herself. "I have an axe, and a..." she reached down into her belt and drew out two daggers. "Two daggers. Oh, wait." She reached into her armor and systematically removed three more. "And that makes five...no, six, there's another." Stormy reached into her boots. "Seven, eight...er, I think we're pretty well stocked up on daggers." She probably looked rather frightening, pulling weapons out of her clothing.
She looked over at Hurricane, who breathed a bout of sparks at the collection of Riders. "Hurricane's lightning can temporarily disable someone's speech, or even bodily parts if we're lucky. I've been working on storing up voltage in multiple ways. We should be good on his part." She waved her hands at the large dragon. "Plus all the spikes and stuff." Hurricane nodded his large head in agreement.
'... That's a lot of daggers.'
Taking stock of what she just learned, Paz came up with her most reasonable conclusion.
"Yeah... We should be fine."
Personality: I think it'd be a bit more fun to find out
Weapons: A bow made from the old scales of my Razorwhips, and two gronkle iron axe blades on the ends.
Species: Howling Wraith (Sand Wraith x Woolly Howl Hybrid)
Age: Roughly the same as the handler, probably a bit older
Personality: He's a bit rough around the edges, and he loves to play pranks, but he can be serious when the time calls for it.
Extra: His fireblast coordinates with whatever he consumes to make his fire, either sand or water. His shot limit also follows whichever he consumes, but if he does use both the shot limits are split in half (AKA 4 sand blasts, 3 ice blasts)
She was soaring through the air on the back of her dragon, and she was quite irritable at being so late to the tournament.
"See what you do? You just had to stop on that island, I told you to go before we left. Ugh." She grumbled, glaring down at the gray and black speckled head of her beast. He rolled his eyes back towards his rider and made a snorting sound, which Bryn didn't appreciate either.
"I promise it'll be fun! You could use this time to meet some more riders." Astrid had said to her in order to get her to go, and she owed the other girl a favor. Fantastic.
As if her thoughts had summoned her, Bryn heard Astrid's voice explaining the challenge, and she patted Draugr on the head. "Let's go, boy, we can still do this." She encouraged, and he made a rather grumpy sound, but she knew that the scaled beast was excited. Unfortunately for her, as she soared down she noticed that pretty much everyone was already in groups, and that did not bode well. Serves me right for being late. She thought to herself, and then shrugged. Ah, well, it'll just be me and Draugr against the world. She gave the dragon another pat on the smooth part of his head just as he landed delicately beside the other riders and their dragons.
Bryn was pretty much ready to go, but Draugr was a tad tired from the long trip. No matter, they would be fine.
The first one to notice the duo seemed to be a boy in a mask, and Bryn made a small sound in between a 'tsk' and a click of the tongue to get her dragon's attention, and the scaled beast turned his head towards his rider before running his muzzle along her shoulder. She scratched lightly under the small row of horns trailing from his eyes, and offered a small smile to the masked man, even if it was more of a smirk. That's pretty much the only kind of smile Bryn knows.
Draugr's gaze, however, was on the flightmare. He tipped his head sideways slightly, to allow his rider to scratch in juust the right spot, and also to pose an question to the Flightmare. When the other dragon lit up and flashed his green markings, the hybrid shook his head free of Bryn's hand and fluffed up his scales in a small ripple, showing off his woolly howl side before they lay flat again. It seemed to be a reply of the same caliber to the flashing green of the Flightmare, he was just saying hello from across the field. Draugr's not one to turn down a challenge of any kind, even if it's just a greeting.
VexyLu noticed a newcomer.
Was she competing?
Why was she late?
Ivy perked up at the sound of wingbeats. She creened her neck upward just as a odd looking SandWraith soared overheard. She watched as a new dismounted her dragon. Banshee, flashed a few stripes in welcome, and the odd Sandwraith raised its... fur? That was when Ivy understood. This dragon must be a Woolyhowl hybrid! Intresting... Suddenly Ivy had a flurry of questions. Like, 'How did that happen?' 'What are it's powers? Frozen Sand?'
Nightshade cocked her head at the intresting dragon. She looked back at Banshee and lolled out her tongue panting. Nightshade looked to Ivy and licked her lips before letting her tongue slid out again. Ivy offered her dragon a smile.
Bryn seemed to have attracted a bit of attention from some of the other competitors, and she nodded towards a smothering smokesbreath rider that she seemed to have peeked the interest of. However, she - er, Draugr - also called forth the interest of the female who seemed to be paired with the flightmare rider. She didn't know any of these people, however, and she slid her gaze over towards Astrid. She got no reply from the Viking she did know, so she let out a plaintive sigh and decided to take her chances with the Flightmare and Triple Stryke riders. They seemed to be a tad more welcoming, or at least more intrigued, than the Smokesbreath rider.
When Bryn started walking forward, Draugr shook out his scales in a flurry of fluff before he trotted after his rider in a good natured walk. He ended up bouncing right on past her, though, and came to a sudden stop in front of the Triple Stryke and the Flightmare, before he raised up on his hind legs and plopped down into a sitting position. He offered them a very toothy smile, before he swiveled his head around to watch his rider approach much more slowly and come to stand beside her dragon. "Pardon him, he's a little excited. He doesn't get to meet new dragons very often. I'm Bryn." She nodded respectfully towards the pair, and then glanced around to survey the others as she reached up and laid a calming hand on her own dragon. A Nadder, two Skrills, a.. Cavern Crasher? She's only ever read about those, and heard the tales from the gang. What an interesting find, indeed.
Stormy looked up at the latecomer. "Heyo, I'm Stormy...uh, oops..." She pulled yet ANOTHER dagger out of her armor and awkwardly set it next to her collection of others. "Sorry about that. Anyways, it's a pleasure. Mr. Grumpy over here, the big titan Skrill, is Hurricane." She gave the Skrill a scratch behind the horns. "Welcome to the Trials."
"Pardon him, he's a little excited. He doesn't get to meet new dragons very often. I'm Bryn." The newest rider announced. Ivy narrowed her eyes at the girl, she had a slim frame like herself and appeared to be a bit older than her. Suddenly there was a loug bang, Ivy twisted around to see the ending sparks of a plasma blast. The battle had begun. Ivy looked and Xander and nodded before taking off. She seperated herself with most of the riders, before stopping, only half way to the trees.
She stood her ground there knowing that if she ran all the way to the tree line, her plan would be obvious, the enimes could follow and so could the riders. She'd rather loose them in the chaos of battle. Ivy just hoped that Xander got the message. Xander had kept pace with her, Ivy stepped out a bit and then turned sideways pressing her back against her ally's. She had never fought with a partner before but she ahd seen vikings train this way before. She had Xander's back, so there would be no sneak attacks, as long as Xander had her own.
Once the fightning truly began, they would slip away in midst of war, using a bomb or two as a distraction if needbe.
Nightshade landed on Xander's flank, her tails raised, at ready.
Following Stormy's introduction, Paz stated, "And I-"
Ok, should would have stated something if Toothless hadn't signaled for the second stage to begin.
"-You know what, We'll finish intros later. Nice dragon and good luck!"
Turning to see the other riders pile of daggers on the ground.
"I'd state the obvious and say that you should proabably pick those up- I just did. *facepalm* Sorry."
After giving Stormy help, she gave a whistle that translated to, "Ready position. Wait for my command."
Readying her axe, Paz also took a stance along with her new allies and waited for Chaos: Part II
The boy just nodded at her, and his dragon seemed to be a tad huffy at the overexcited Draugr, well, that was just too bad. Bryn patted her dragon softly on the side and ran her hand along the ridges above his eyes, it always seemed to calm him when she did that. The female of the duo was no better, so, apparently she had misjudged and this pair was not as friendly as they appeared, but no matter.
Another girl, a skrill rider, did speak to her though. She raised an eye brow in question as the girl pulled some knives from her armour, and the sound of it also attracted Draugr's attention. He turned his head sharply to her and tipped it to the side slightly as he watched her awkward movements, as if he was curious as to why she didn't notice the daggers in her armour earlier - or why they were there at all. Bryn offered the other rider a small smile, patting the shoulder spikes of her dragon to indicate that he should sit down normally, and he complied. He was much more easily accessable at this height, with all four feet on the ground. "It's a pleasure to meet you as well, this spikey beast is Draugr, but you can call him Ghost. He responds to either." She offered this rider a respectful nod, right before thanking her for the welcome. She hoped she wouldn't get welcomed with daggers, though.
The girl with the Nadder seemed to want to speak, just as Toothless decided to start the race. "For Thor's sake." She growled, slapping the stirrups of Draugr's saddle into place before she leaped up onto the back of the startled hyrbid. She turned towards the Nadder girl and offered her a smile and a salute. "Thanks, good luck to you guys as well!" She said as she clicked her tongue a few times and her dragon took off in a bounding leap towards the chaos. Bryn was remarkably fast getting her bow out, and she started shooting at the crowd. She was aiming for helmets and such of that nature, though, because when her unique arrows struck one, they typically caused sparks which then made the arrows catch on fire, causing quite the raucous.
The second round started.
This was going to be fun...
VexyLu ran as fast as she could- she was first in the arena.
Her plan was to run straight through the enemies, as they didn't bother her.
As she approached the first one, she started running even faster.
When got about five meters away, she leaped high into the air, twisted her body, and did a flying round house kick.
She hit the guy hard, right on the right sid of his head.
He collapsed, unconscious.
VexyLu laughed. This was so much fun!
More people approached her and she took them down, one by one, with her smokebreath by her side blasting them.
The next one that came got a right hook in the temple.
The third, a hip throw, on top of the forth.
The fifth a hand in his neck's pressure point.
The sixth, an axe to head.
VexyLu continued making her way through them, towards the finish line.
The seventh, a front kick to the stomach.
The eighth was by himself. VexyLu had some time to blow, so she did guilitin (if that's how you spell it) choke on him. She released his limp body and moved on.
"Madrielle," she said, smiling heartily at VexyLu as she released her grip from the handshake. "I hope you're as strong as you say, or you're not going to make it!"
The viking turned around, looking towards the horn sound that she had heard. Akyra seemed interested in something, and she followed the dragon's gaze.
"Hm. Newcomers?" Madrielle scrutinized the new riders that had shown up. "Hah! The more the merrier. It'll make it more rewarding when I finally win!"
(( Hey, Vexy... I don't think the second round has started yet? ;p))
((It has. But, we are kinda waiting for Buddy to post to describe what is going on))
Toothless had began the battle. Westra ran besides her companions as they raced onto the battle feild. Westra took out her slingshot and launched a pebble at a man who came to attack him. It threw off the man look enough for Westra to get to him and hit him with the handle of her ax. She watched as the man fell to the ground unconscious. Westra looked back at her teammates. "Did you see where are of the other trial members went for then I can send Geminia after them?" She asked.
