I posted this in the last forum annd here it is again.  I was wondering if in the future tha ability to trade in coins for gems could be implemented,  of course it would have to be a chalange.  I was thinking of something like this:

5,000 coins = 5 gems

10,000 coins = 10 gems

So basically every 5,000 coins could be traded for 5 gems.  It could just add another goal to work for in the game.  Please let me know what you guys think.

I spend most of my time obbsesing over 'How To Train Your Dragon.' The rest of my time is spent writing HTTYD Fanfiction. If you love to read Fanfiction, then I would love for you to check out my stories.

:

Ones I'm working on at the moment:

Click the link ----> 'The Legend Of Scale' (Now complete)

and the sequel:

Click the link ----> 'How To Find A Hiccup' (in-progress)

:

A little bit about both stories: The Legend Of Scale sort of came to me one day, it just popped into my mind and wouldn't leave until I wrote 33k+ words on it. It only has 10 chapter, but I can promise you it worth reading.

This story is about Hiccup. He is sick and tired of being treated like a worthless human being who can't do anything right. So, instead of showing the island of Berk that dragons can be trained, Hiccup takes Toothless and flies away. But, he hasn't escaped his problems. The way he has been treated on Berk remains with him, all the hurt and anger festers within him, creating an alternate personality called Scale. And, lets just say, Scale isn't afriad of showing people who's boss and when he becomes king of the dragons, the entire archipelago finds themselves on the brink of war.

:

How To Find A Hiccup is this stories sequel. I'll try to explain it without giving away the ending to The Legend Of Scale, but I suggest you go read that story and then come back and read this.I had a bit of trouble thinking up a sequel, but I feel like I did a pretty good job. That, and with my Beta's being with me from the very first chapter in this story, promises to make it even better than the last installment.

The story follows Astrid and the other riders (now all grown up for this story takes place five years later then the last )trying to find Hiccup. When Johann sails to Berk and sheds some light on Hiccup's where abouts, the riders head out to search for him, but in their travels they discover that Hiccup has gotten himself into quite the predicament. Even worse is that Astrid and her fellow riders seem to run into countless problems in their search for Hiccup, including his worst enemy...

:

'Fantastic' is currently on haitus due to the lack of attention it is getting on Fanfiction.net. Sorry for those of you on here who are following it. I may complete it in the future, but alass, I have to many other ideas that I feel the need to put onto paper.

:

If you want to know more about me and you aren't bored yet, then contninue reading.

:

On Fanfiction.net I have two Beta readers to help make my stories even better. Mycove and NightshadeFromSweden stick to the grapevine mostly, but definitly help make my story as good as it is today. If you notice a decrease in spelling mistakes around chapter seven of 'The Legen Of Scale,' you can thank my Beta's. Check out mycove's profile as well!

I'm a Christian, if you have a problem with that then go somewhere else, I don't need you telling me how silly my belief is. I'm also a huge fan of Christian rock and listen to Skillet, We As Human, Ashes Remain, Fireflight, and a bunch of other people. You should google each band if you like that kind of music, Christian or not.

Berksgrapvine is a fan-made website that I couldn't live without. I didn't creat it, I'm not that lucky. While this site posts everything new and of signifagence about the HTTYD franchise (watch out for spoilers) the people on there are great and a blast to talk to, you should check it out.

Normally I would say yes to

Normally I would say yes to this, but there is a reason that gems cost money:

Everything, as I am sure you know, costs money, and without money, no School of Dragons. The devs need money to continue making the game, and I actually hope they add more features for members so more people support them.

If this WASN'T the case, then yes, I would like this.

Gems

I'm actually in the same boat as this guy. I don't mind donating a few bucks for gems since every little bit helps to pay for the servers and what-not.

What if we can't

You may be right, but this feature really helps people like me who can't pay because maybe they don't have a card number or any paying method and SO need gems.

I totally agree with exchanging coins with gems however is the difficulty they make it, cuz I know it's worth it

I agree

This is a nice idea. Since I completed all the aviable quests and the achivements were created I have a lot of money and have no idea how to spend them.

It's a good idea

This is actually a good idea.. with all the  'unnecessary extra' money, we can change those to gems so that we can buy stuff paid with gems for those without a card. With this, we don't waste any money and make full use of it

I like this idea, because the gems are still hard to get I would probably still buy them anyways, this just saves how much I have to spend and since I'm on a really tight budget I can't typically afford a lot anyways.

The vast majority of websites with pay for special item options typically also have a way to get that for free in a few ways, but not so much of that free item that people who want to spend excessively can get away with only free.

Besides, the memberships are still pretty cool, especially once they start rolling out the 'members only' stuff

If they did this, the game

If they did this, the game would be a whole lot more uniqe than other rpg games like club penguin. many people would want to play this game more, the thing i hate about most of rpg online and that turns me off is that the membership with exclusive item that is actual most of the game gone fo poor people and that the money buying coins/gems don't allow the poor people to buy cool stuff. i understand about the donating but allow poor people to be able to have gem by trading item or lots of coins.

Hm...

Going off of my previous post, it does cost money to run servers. But, seeing as how I'm also like most of you and lack a steady income, I do also see the flip side of this coin.

The best way I can think of getting this to work is in a similar fashion to another website I frequent on occasion. They have a similar item to our gems which can be purchased for real money like the gems can be here. However, unlike in SoD, we can also trade the items we purchase with this money between users for either other items or for coins themselves. Granted, we would need a set standard for how much items are worth per coin to help prevent insane requests (such as 2,000+ coins for 1 Salmon), but that shouldn't be too difficult to implement if you asked me.

Anyway, the other site also has other means of getting their equivalent to gems. This comes through means of doing side quests (as some of you have mentioned in other threads) or watching videos of their sponsors. The latter of which is really easy to do. You just mute their video and go off doing other things until their finished. Once the video is over, you just go back to the page to acknowledge it and are given a small sum of the "gems" so to speak. It's lazy, but it does give users who don't have a card number or their own money to have a way to get some "gems". The problem is that site doesn't cater to the younger audiences this site does, so implementing such a thing would be difficult. Some videos might be inappropriate in some manner to younger audiences or some parents outright block their kids from watching videos.

I'm just shooting ideas here.

Why, what an idea, I understand what you're trieng to say but I got to comment on this, advertisements videos are usually fun and short, you're not gonna lose anything if you watch it or try to know what is it about, after all, you are paid for that, right?

but still, I liked your ideas

Something Hilarious

This is true. And by doing so you're (in a round-about-way) helping the site by giving their sponsors some views. So the "gem" reward is kind of like a little "thank you" in a way.

And what I meant by "inappropriate in some manner to younger audiences" is that some videos talk about products children don't use, understand, or need. Granted, I doubt this site has sponsors from such sources,  but you have to be careful in the advertisement department about what can and can't get through to your users.

And thanks! I just figured it's a different way to go about doing this sort of thing.

True enough

True enough. If they didn't know what they were doing, we wouldn't be here on this site right now. But helpful suggestions here and there are likely something they're happy to see given that we have an entire section of the forum dedicated to it. ^_^
