Oh yeah you have a point. An ENB already requires double the juice to run properly. I think that 2gb vram would be the minimum you need to be able to run the game with a lot of graphic mods ;_;

Haaa yeah I saw that one! It's so odd how it's so clear how everyone hates the fad combo, yet a LOT of the new triple-A games are going to be... that, most likely.

Hold Y for POOWWWWEEEERRRR

Nintendo completely dumping the wii/wiiU systems and overhauling their console line.

Don't get me wrong, I don't necessarily DISLIKE the Nintendo Switch/think it's worse than the Wii U. In fact I don't have a Switch, though from what I've seen they seem a bit over complicated... But it's the fact that all the games they've made for the Wii up to this point have been rendered unuseable unless you specifically keep the Wii U. Plus they're not making games for the Wii U anymore so even if you prefer it over the Switch, whelp too bad the new Switch only takes cartridges.

Idk, it just feels like everything I've bought for the Wii U up to this point seems useless now? I mean, it just sort of gives me the doubt that what if they do this AGAIN, then the Switch is completely useless too. So why bother?

Maybe I'm just over-reacting and this is how it normally goes for console upgrades.

Is it just me or was the Switch specifically made to appeal to hipsters/nostalgia.

This is kinda the case with all consoles and new generations, though some companies do keep a bit of support for older consoles at times. It all seems to be going so fast, though! There tend to be 5 years between 'new console releases' but I can barely get used to a new console before a 'newer' or 'better' version pops up on the market.

What do you mean with unusable games, though? I'm sure that I can still play games on my wii and wii-u, but I suppose they took down the online services? Or the online store?

Though it surprised me that the Wii-u was such a... flop? It barely had any games despite being a pretty cool console. I think the actual lack of games may be to blame on the system itself, as it was tremendously difficult to develop and port games to the Wii-u. Many companies simply gave up on it and just stopped advertising wii-u support. I feel like that's the reason why it didn't really get much time to shine, aside from the poor marketing.

The Switch isn't a hipster or nostalgia thing-- it's actually meant to be a hybrid console, but mostly handheld. 'Big' consoles don't do well in Japan, but the Japanese play a LOT of handheld/mobile games so the handheld market is doing much better in Japan than it does in the west. The west doesn't like handhelds; the west wants big ol' powerful consoles.

Nintendo created the Switch in order to appeal to both sides-- it is advertised as a mostly handheld console in Japan whereas it's advertised as a normal console (w/ hybrid stuff because gimmicks) here. A pretty smart move from ol' Nintendo, I say, but I'm not sure if it's doing well over there because the Switch is still bigger, clunkier and pricier than say, a phone with Miitomo and Line Play.

I don't have a Switch yet. I'm waiting for a better version with fixed flaws. I heard some things didn't work that well so far; scratchy screens when docking, lag in 1080p, etc. I'd gladly buy a Switch if they fixed those issues- but I don't think the Switch's worth the money at this point. The game lineup is quite cool so far, though, unlike the wii-u's.

When I found out that they

When I found out that they were coming out with the Switch, I almost blew up because this is how the story goes for my life:

Christmas 2009 I got a Wii. It was my first game device and I've played on it ever since.

Weeeeelllll, the Wii-U came out and they stopped making games for the Wii. I was unaffected at the time because I wasn't that into gaming yet, but then, after I played The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Super Smash Bros. Brawl, I started seeing some of the cool things for only Wii-U.

Finally, after waiting 2 years for one, I got a Wii-U for my birthday in September last year! I was so happy that I had both that and the old Wii so I could play every game that had come out and would come out, and I got a bunch of games for Christmas!

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE! In October my older sister was visiting and she got excited and told me, "Have you heard about the Switch?" and I was like, "What?" so I looked up the trailer.

Now that I finally got the "newest" game console, it's old and they're going to stop making games for it.

At least the new Legend of Zelda game is both for Switch and U. :3

I can imagine your disappointment when the Wii-u ended up not being a big hit like most of the previous Nintendo consoles. It's also pretty unheard of for a company like Nintendo to cease support for a console so quickly... Compared to the Gamecube and the Wii. I mean- Playstation stopped producing PS2s in 2013 and even though the PS3 was out, PS2 games were still being made.

Nowadays I don't even buy new consoles anymore. Aside from the fact that they're super pricey for me currently, it feels like they're being released so often I'm afraid that if I buy something, a 'better' version of it will pop up next week!

A good thing about consoles is that you'll alwyas be able to buy physical games for them. There's plenty stores that sell games second hand for cheap, so even if the Wii-u will no longer be supported, you'll still be able to buy (cheap!) games for it. ...whatever few there are, though.

I heard that BotW isn't really worth it on the Wii-U. I considered getting the game but some friends told me it roesn't run as well and it doesn't utilise the controller's screen at all. I'm going to wait for an updated Switch first.

I filled in all of the compartments of my desk with spackle.

Tiny Houses.

Sure they're cute, but they're not cost efficient and the people buying them would just be better off with a mobile home/rv.

They're really just trends..

How tiny? :þ

If people really want a tiny house b/c it's a trend then.. lol. Tiny houses aren't supposed to be trendy, hipsters! They're supposed to be shelters for people who have no alternative. Having little space isn't hip nor does it do much for the environment in general, but I suppose that most 'trendy' people will realise that when they move into their trend©house.

I personally really like the tiny house idea: it works well for places with dense population and house shortages. Here muncipialities are building container- and those little 'in-between house' homes because it's impossible for people to find a house to rent. I've been queueing for a home for 8 years, so it's nice to see that something's being done about the housing issue at least.

Mallow, grab my curls!

Ahh, I couldn't list it off the top of my head, but I think I've seen like these people with 2-3 children and a large dog thinking they can cram into a what- 700 square foot tiny-house? Essentially a space smaller than my bedroom.

I think most of my issues with tiny houses is rooted in all the HGTV I watch. Basically these people cram themselves into these tiny 'homey' sheds so they can 'see the world' or 'have a house without the cost!' or 'leave less of an impact on nature'. It's most definitely not because they have no alternative- usually these people move out of fairly nice homes. I guess I can understand if you want to live a simpler life- but for thor's sakes almost all these peoples' problems would be solved with an RV. It's just SMARTER, and certainly more cost efficient.

All those reasons you stated- THAT'S A SMART USE OF THEM! I have no problem with that- it sounds like a great idea! But when you've got a family of 6 and you're moving from a much more well-suited 2 story house into a 700sqft shed on wheels- sometimes they're not even on wheels- it's just not a smart idea. Especially since these families usually move into these tiny-homes while all their kids are around 2-5, not even accounting for when their kids get older. It irks me to no end how little thought people put into this.

I feel bad for the camera crews who film these tiny house shows, because I know it's unpleasant squeezing all of that in there to get shots of everything. Rest their souls.

A lot of big families live in small houses here- but I do agree that a family wih 3 kids and pets is too big for such a space. I mean, my house is smaller than that but pretty close in size and we have just enough space for two people and a couple small pets. I couldn't imagine having to fit four to five people AND pets in there.

An RV would be an affordable option for rich people who want to live smaller, indeed. Plus, depending on the vehicle they'll also have the ability to /actually/ move around and live that nomad life they want so much. Then again, an RV may not be ínnovative' or 'hipster' enough. Nowadays people tend to be really into those weird dome things you can build in forests. I absolutely hate those things aaa!

You have... tiny house TV shows over there though? That's both hilarious and sad. Especially since TV shows like that lure people into joining a stupid fad en masse.

I'm definitely for the idea of building small houses- but not as a gimmick for rich people to feel good about themselves for. It just seems like a waste.

It has that many because it's

It has that many because it's nice to be able to complain about things you never get to complain about anywhere else-- after I used this, it helped me overcome some of my anger towards the things I complained about because, even if you don't have a bad life, it feels good to finally get feelings out.

If you're just looking at this thread and not some of the other peoples' posts, I know it can make them look negative, but even the happiest people need to complain once and a while. :3

That's a better way of looking at it

That's awesome that it's helping you! I can totally get just venting out feelings and getting support for it, that's always great for people -- I just find it kind of funny that this thread is over 1000 yet the thread of positivity is a bit over 100.

People are more likely to complain about things than praise them; kind of like how some people never leave a review for their perfectly fine local pizza parlor until they finally get a pizza they don't like. Positive things can easily be normalised and happiness should be the default state, so people don't think of sharing minor positivities in their life that often because they don't pay much attention to it.

It's a good thread for people to vent and discuss in. The fact that people are keeping to this thread when it comes to sharing minor annoyaces and such is a good thing. :þ I guess it's nice to have a place where you're welcome to complain without ruining the good mood or derailing the ongoing conversation too much-- unless someone says weird stuff like the whole 'Reeee women are bad!' debacle early in the thread, of course.

Another thing to remember is

Another thing to remember is that, because happy things are seen as default, people all just kind of nod along with each new post in the Thread of Positives. However, in the Thread of Peeves, people often end up discussing things to try to further understand them, share an alternate viewpoint, or simply publically sharing agreement, so there's a heck of a lot more replies to comments on this thread.

I never get tired of my friends; I want to be with them every minute of the day, but I only get an hour on the computer, which means I only get an hour with them. That's fine. It's all fine, as long as I get to talk to them. I'd take 15 minutes and be happy.

My friends don't always feel the same about me. I'm pretty sure they want a week or so without me in it once in a while, so they stop replying to my messages. But they don't tell me that they want some time alone.

I don't know what my problem is, but I can't stand not hearing from my BFF. I get depressed when she doesn't talk to me. I haven't been on at the same time as her in a month. I always send her a message, but she's stopped answering the past few days even though she's been on.

I don't mind someone not wanting to talk to me for a little bit, but i wish that she would tell me. I want to tell her that, but I've already been bugging her enough already.

I just really wish I could understand when people don't want to talk to me; that's the biggest problem (that isn't too personal :3) I've been dealing with the past year. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if they just don't feel like talking-- that makes me feel like I'm immature, which makes me even more upset.

Am I immature and/or too clingy?

OCs being able to speak dragonese.

I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate from this, but it really urks me when peeps start talking to their dragons. Don't get me wrong, I had my character speak to their dragon in my short screenshot story, but that was only for comedic purposes. :^) The books and francise are two completely different things, so if your OC is talking to their dragon and lives in the francise universe, there's something wrong. It makes my pet squid cry, so plis.

Aaaand I'm out. Cy@ disappears under my blanket

Mixing Canons

This first paragraph isn't really a response to you, but this just made me worry that people actually think my OCs speak Dragonese. They do in my screenshot comics because...they're screenshots. No facial expressions. Had to come up with something interesting. But Dragonese doesn't exist in my prose works that I've written for my characters. (One could say I've created two extremely closely-related universes for my characters that are AU to each other. ...That's weird to think about.) I really put it in to my screenshot comics for comedic purposes, like you did, because in a story with mostly dragon characters that only had a few possible poses, I found my attempts at making a comic with non-talking dragons uninteresting, hence completely stealing Hypergoof's idea to have Dragonese just for those comics. It never occurred to me to make that a thing in my "actual" OC universe.

That said, though, this phenomenon you are talking about - where speaking Dragonese is an actual trait of OC characters - is called "mixing canons." It happens when there's more than one version of a story/universe, and a fan wants to take elements from one and put it into the other to have elements of both in their fanfiction. Having a problem with this is a bit like having a problem with other people's ships in terms of how fandom interacts with each other. Easily solved by avoidance and absolutely ridiculous to have a problem with it at all, but we all get emotional about it anyway and can't really help it. ;) (Though that statement is still more true of shipping. Oh, shipping.) XD

For me personally, I also usually prefer no Dragonese just because the dragons of the movie franchise acting like our beloved pets is largely the reason I connected with the franchise to begin with. If the author has the dragons talk, they often get personified to the point where they lose a lot of those animal aspects, and that's just less fun for me. I'm also a canon stickler, so I rarely like to see mixing canons in anything...though I'm more accepting of them than I am of AUs or outright canon contradictions, I'll admit. So yeah, usually no Dragonese for me, either, in the movie franchise at least. The exception - seen in my own work but also other people's work that I read - is in screenshot comics. I prefer Dragonese in screenshot comics because otherwise, the dragon characters don't really have much personality because they don't have expressions. They just rumble and growl, and a lot of potential jokes and character moments are lost. In prose, you can make up for this by having the dragon do specific actions and expressions that interact with what the human(s) is/are doing, but in a screenshot comic, you're really limited on that. So when an OC exists only in screenshot comics and not in prose fanfiction or hand-drawn comics or roleplaying, I'm inclined to give speaking Dragonese a pass.
