Truth be told, I would call myself a casual gamer.

I'm not competitive unless it's an attainable position, but otherwise you won't be seeing me anywhere near "contests" and such. ThunderRun racing is no different, though because of the Snoggletog events I forced myself to be competitive for the cookie jars.

I like it though! Especially when using different dragons. Unlike Dragon Tactics, you could actually use all dragons! With each dragon, you get to learn more of your companion. Which one needs to turn earlier for sharp turns, which one needed delicate handling or else the last thing that'll embrace you is the cold hard mountain wall, which one excells in tricky maps and which one's made for more straighter maps. It's pretty fun!

The VERY THING that really ruffles my feathers is... I suppose "Unsportmanship"?

"But Vic, this is MMO. And if the game allows it, just get over it?"

And of course I understand that. Just like other MMO games I've played including player vs player types. It's just that, isn't it a BIT TOO MUCH that you're using a ruffrunner vs my stormcutter, we're basically 1 vs 1-ing each other (Literally just the two of us), and yet you leave EVERY kind of trap in your arsenal against my dragon? That's the type of unsportsmanship I was talking about.

I know I have been in this game for less than 4 months, but I figured that true dragon racers would avoid using dirty tactics just to win.

This isn't exactly a rant post. I'd just like to see other people's thoughts and opinions on "dirty tactics". And yes, I'm not exactly a "pure righteous" gamer who hasn't resorted to such. (Team shooting-type games where you spawn camp, leaving traps, or abusing game-legal cheats, such and such).

This cosmic dance of bursting decadence and withheld permissions twists all our arms collectively.

But if sweetness can win,

and it can.

Then I'll still be here tomorrow, to high-five you yesterday, my friend.

I agree with you, tho I have less tolerance to being shot at than traps, cause traps are easier to dodge. Being fired at.. is just straight up annoying.... Tho the people who drop trap after trap after trap... I don't think should be racing.... cause most of the time they still don't win. It's so much more fun to race someone on the same experience level as you without the use of traps, plus you learn other tricks that way. Which turn will get you there quicker, which path will get you ahead, all because you're following someone else's tactics and not focusing on firing at them (really really really bothers me and the only time I'll drop a trap on someone now) or tossing traps at each check point. Either way... I agree, it's super annoying...

Some information on me?

Sure Why Not....

Was kinda obvious but :T

19... Birthday was the 18th of December....

Getting bumped.

Leaving the race after it's finished and getting a timer for "not finishing the race".

Those Nightfury racers with maxed out armor blasting boosts every single race. I try to avoid players like that.

Getting shot at I normally don't mind, unless it's one of those dragons that have blinding shots making it hard to see upon impact.

Turning too sharply and smacking the wall.

Activating a shield only for it to not appear or stop your dragon completely.

I don't get that shield at

I don't get that shield at all. I thought it's suppose to form a shield around you, not slam your dragon's brakes XD

Is it a bug in ThunderRun racing then? Or did Snotlout throw his shield at you in hopes of protecting you but ends up hitting your dragon's head instead?

Sooo, first things first. When I made this account I choose hookless as my username because hookfang and toothless were my two favorites out of the gang's dragons at the time, and I combined their names. I just want to clear that up so people don't take it the wrong way. :)

My bestest forum buddies:

From the bottom of my heart, I'm grateful that you guys are my friends. I really don't know what I'd do without you. You're sometimes the first ones I say good morning to and always the last I say goodnight to. You've helped me grow so much over the time I've known you. I could be feeling like everything is going downhill, but you guys always make me smile. You're the ones I go to when I need to vent all the emotions inside or when I need to do some high-quality fangirling. You make me a better person.

Internet friendship is such an interesting thing. You get to know that person from the inside. You get to know them through who they really are, not the money they may or may not have, not through appearances. You know their true heart and thinking. You have a shoulder to cry on and someone to celebrate with even if you've never met each other, never seen each other. They know you better than anyone in your reality does, and they accept you for who you are on the inside, not what you look like on the outside. You meet people with the same fandoms, same hobbies, same idealogies, same morals as you do. You relate to these people who you've never met. People you don't even know the names of. People who could live half a world away from you. People who you never would have met otherwise. These people, these friends. They support you no matter what. They understand you. They love you.

It's a beautiful thing, this type of friendship. It's completely backwards from real life, because you never see them. You just know them. "Don't judge a book by its cover." can't even apply. You have no cover to judge. You just get right to the wonderful pages. Everyone who I've met here proves that the internet can be a wonderful thing. And that there are so many good people in this world full of darkness.

You guys are like siblings to me. You aren't even just fri(end)s anymore, because there's an 'end' in friend. You guys are fam(ily). Ily means "I love you."

...And I love you all 3000 <3

About Me:

The first and most important thing you should know about me is that I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses. I enjoy studying the Bible and learning from it. I live by Bible standards and strive to apply Bible principles in my life everyday. Of course, I'm not perfect and would never claim to be. However, when I make a mistake I do my best to learn from it and then do my best not to repeat it. I apologize when neccessary and accept correction where it's needed. I happily talk about my religion and beliefs with others but I don't force it on them. If they aren't interested or tell me they don't want to talk about it, I respect that.

Honestly I've utilized the traps and boosts a lot. In my view, it's a tool to use to win and learn with (maybe that's just my honed MarioKart instincts, LOL). I never use it on noobs, and I try to give them a chance, but if I'm against a racer who's just as good as me and we're in a neck-to-neck race, I let 'em have it.

If people use them against me, then I see it as a challenge and I know they're a good racer, not a bad sportsman. I've learned to never fly right behind someone else XD . However, I think that using a speed boost right before the player ahead of you wins is kind of ''unsportsmanish''.

I know a lot of people are against using the ''tools'', but I never hold a grudge about it, and I do it myself in a hot competition. I'm guessing not many people think like this.

Hey there! I'm Knight Fury, (in-game my username is TheMandilorian).

I've been playing SoD since Oct 2013,so I guess I'm considered a veteran gamer. I have an insanely big collection of dragons that I'm very fond of and love to ride around. Currently I have around 13,500 trophies from racing.

My clan right now is The Heart and Soul of Dragons. I hop around from clan to clan every few months because I don't like to stay put long. ''Pfft, no loyalty. At all. Especially during CoC.'' I also have my own clan, The Knight Furies. Sometimes I 'go rogue' for a month or so when I don't feel like dealing with clans, so I leave.

Here are some facts about me!

Fav books:-How to Train Your Dragon (All of the books)-Warriors-Wings of Fire-Narnia-Hunger Games-Knights of Arrethtrae-The Dragonkeeper Series (Donita K. Paul)

Fav food: Almost anything my mom makes. Japanese food is REALLY good though

Fav color: Black, dark green, violet

Fav animals: mammal-Cats  birds-Barn Owl  Sea-Orcas

Country: The USA

Fav movie character: Rey (Star Wars) Toothless (HtTYD)

I suppose we're some of the few cuz that's what I think as well...I agree, it is annoying when people boost right at the end...but only a bit. I get over it.. :P xD

I very much agree with your opinion.

Boosts and traps are indeed tools, especially if you're racing against seasoned or skilled racers.

Such things should be left faaaaaaaaaar away from newbies .I watched some of them crash on walls a few times. Had to go back in the racing track just to show them the way, SOD put more arrows in the maps I beg of you.

Put some fireworm dragons on them arrows!

Different play styles

There are players who play TRR for fun and who don´t mind coming in second. They try to race on different dragons including slower dragons.

And there are players who play to win and use every ressource at their disposal to achieve that. The only thing they don´t like is using speed boosts because they can´t react to them fast enough.

Shooting at other racers doesn´t slow them down (as far as I know), so the spikes (players who play for winning) usually don´t do that.

Both playstyles are fine, they just don´t mix very well. If you are a casual racer, try to avoid getting into races with power gamers or leave such races before they start. You can identify most of them by maxed-out equipment (Toothless or Skrill gear) and using a Fury to ride.

And, my wish to the power gamers: once you win, please stay in the game so that the other players still have a chance to finish and get their rewards too. That´s only fair, don´t you think?

Unfortunely now... You get a time penalty for leaving the count down lobby to the race.... Which is extremely ridiculous.... So most newbie racers are trapped in it when they're only there to do that starter quest to introduce racing or just getting into it....

Shooting doesn't slow you down, just irritates the one being shot at and slows the shooter down cause they have to let go of the go button (For mobile at least) to fire.

I had a two minute time penalty once for wining a race by default. What happened was everyone else decided to quit the race. I was the only person dedicated to get the race done, since I only quit when there's an emergency. Naturally, once the other competitors quit the game, the race ended early. I got +10 trophies and the promised cookie jar, but somehow I was kicked from entering a room basically for actions I never committed. Technically I didn't finish the race, so I agree if the time penalty can be a bit of a pain.

A note, we weren't even at the second lap and there was only 2 other people in the race when it started. Those cowards...

Call me whatever names you like, but the truth hurts. Racing takes skill and complaining about losing on a slow dragon only makes you a sore loser. Nobody is going to stop racing on the night lights/toothless just because you're on a slow dragon. And if you don't like the traps/boosts don't use it. Nobody is going to stop using it because "YOU" don't like it.

I can't stand complainers in thunder run.

Has Anyone Told You Before...

You do realize you are extremely aggressive in your responses.... Right? It's a game.... It's here for fun, chill out. There is several ways to address something without angering your peers with the first sentence. Because at that point, no one cares what you think, because, it appears, you don't care what they think. Starting your comment with "Call me whatever names you like, but the truth hurts" is a pretty low blow. This is also not a "truth", this is an opinion. If you think it's fine to drop traps to go ahead, others would think it's an easy stepping stone to win. Of course no one is going to stop using these because others don't like it, but they will have less people to race with. I absolutely loath racing a lot of people for this reason, so I don't. Easy as that.

Also.... We aren't talking about US using the traps, we're talking about when they're littered all over the track. And if you don't like complainers in TTR or otherwise... Don't respond.

I'm going to leave it at this, if I didn't care what you think I wouldn't be responding to your reply. Yes, everyone has a right to their own opinion but you shouldn't wear it on your sleeve and wave it in someone's face. Yes I might have come off a bit too agressive, but with complaints like these it's the same thing over and over.

"Why should I race you if you have ruffrunner or toothless?" And that's our problem why? Anyone can be skilled at racing a not so fast dragon. Even pro's on a toothless don't always win. Sure if you want a fair race then so be it, but what i always try to point out to things like this is you can't expect everyone to drop what their doing just because the other person disagrees with it. Especially littering tracks with traps. That's just another style of racing, end boosting too.

I do however consider unsportsmanship to be complaining. There's a better approach than to say, "And of course I understand that. That's the type of unsportsmanship I was talking about." Which if you ask me sounds exactly like a complaint. It reminds me of those players that cry, "I'm not racing you because you're on a toothless."

-Just an FYI, consider getting yourself a geared up sandy...

Hmmm... Still pretty Aggressive... but okay.

Unsportsmenship = complainer? how about when they have two boxes and drop it in a row, then pick up another box right after and drop it then and there? Is that fair? As she was saying, "yet you leave EVERY kind of trap in your arsenal against my dragon?", I'm assuming that's what she meant. I don't mind some traps here and there, but when it creates an obstacle to maneuver, and I'm the only other player around. Yeah, that'll irritate a lot of people. Doesn't mean we'll complain to them once we're out of the race. We'll just stop racing them.

But since the topic was already presented by Vic, on the forums, a disscussion is started. Therefore many different opinions will rise and we can talk about how this effects us, and what we do to get around it. Plus, we also learn why other people like to use them as much as they do, as KnightFury stated, she enjoys using them cause she thinks it's more sportsmenship to use. We don't come here to complain to the devs that they should take them out of TTR. You're right, it is there for a reason, it is allowed to be used, but doesn't mean we always enjoy it. So we say how we avoid it, and carry on. Not a single one of these is a personal attack on Vic directly though, what you're statements have looked like... Appears to be a personal attack on her....

And just because you put the snappy comment for last doesn't mean you made it better.... because, "FYI... Consider getting yourself a geared up Sandy" is still pretty low XD I race on a Fury, a geared up one at that, and I'm still annoyed with the traps. Again, you are right, I don't always win with a geared up Toothless, yet I know every shortcut, proper turn, and glitched path in every track to win. Yet I do lose to several other types of dragons, I don't mind, I rather enjoy that cause now I can learn from them. Those who don't race me because "You're on a Night Fury", well that's their problem. But if they do race me and they continue to think they can't win on speed alone, and drop traps to make a whole new track. Do, annoy me from time to time. I mean, a new track to go through is actually pretty fun. I personally am more annoyed with being shot at than the traps, but it's clearly not the same for others here. At this point, it's more of a place for people to say their pet peeves in racing. :T

So, I'm not lying, you're right on several things, you just... Don't need to call people down while addressing it. You're just so aggressive in responses XD It's still personal preference, those who complain CONSTANTLY about what dragon YOU are using... nearly making it a core focus point to every conversation they have. I will agree are pretty annoying on their own, therefore making their actions rather annoying.... I still don't think Vic falls in this category though as she just goes about how some things annoy her, again, they're not trying to get the traps taken out of the game, they're not trying to get people to stop using them. At least lessen the amount of times they use it.

My opinion on this subject has always been different than most people's opinions. I don't think it's right or fair to call players who use powerups "dirty racers" or to say that they "use dirty tactics." Powerups have been put into the game by the devs, therefore, people are free to use them and should feel that they can do so without people calling them out as "dirty racers." There is only one area where I'm against powerups. I do consider it dirty and bad sportsmanship for someone to boost at the end of a race just so they can win. When people do that it's obvious all they care about is winning. Any other time though I like powerups because it adds more to the race. The track becomes an obstacle course in addition to it being a race track. In my opinion, using powerups(knowing the best spots to place them) as well as avoiding them takes skill. In the end, everyone has their own racing style. Some people like powerups and some don't but everyone's opinion should be respected. No one should look down on someone for using powerups and no one should look down on someone who has chosen not to use them.

Edit: After seeing the comments that people have made over the few days this thread has been up I guess I stand corrected on the "my opinion on powerups falls in the minority" thing. XD It looks like the view on using powerups has changed since I first joined the forum. It used to be considered a big no-no to use them and you were looked down upon, bullied, or black-listed by other players(meaning they would not race you) if you used them and the people who didn't approve of them greatly outnumbered the people who wanted to use them. I remember that in the past threads that discussed powerups would be filled with "I hate powerups" and/or "I hate people who use powerups" comments so I actually never expected so many people to reply saying they liked powerups. lol.

My opinion in this is quite the normie one, I think, but gameplay mechanics that have been added to a game can and should be used. There's no dirty tactics, just tactics, unless you're literally cheating, of course.

If peoples' normal gameplay has to be altered because their opponent doesn't like it, idk, just seems weird to me. Not saying that this is the case here! It's just a mindset I see a lot on this forum.

ETA: What's up with normal racing being called 'dirty racing'? Seems unfair to people who just play the game like they're supposed to. Is it to shame people into not using power-ups?

From what I witnessed in the past, the phrase "dirty racing/racer/clan" started out that way - to shame others into not using the powerups (a certain previously influental top clan was pretty big on using that phrase in a derogatory way)... but recently, many of us have taken ownership of that phrase and use it frequently among each other in a fun way. To us, racing "dirty" doesn't mean racing "unfairly", it just means racing differently.

I agree with most opinions here. It was the idea of devs to create and add traps + boosts to the races. It is up to everyone to decide whether to use traps and boosts or not.

I don't use any traps or boosts. The only time I use Power-Ups is if I know I'm racing with a hacker/cheater, or a person who uses Power-Ups.

For me, races are a relaxing place, so if someone doesn't race fairly, it's really annoying and pretty stressful. It's also a good way to make me angry :/
I remember, in the past I deleted two or three friends from a friend list just because they was using Power-Ups in every race.

As I wrote at the beginning, it is up to everyone to choose whether to race cleanly or with Power-Ups. No one will do anything about it.

The only thing you can do is to create a list of players who do not race cleanly. I have this list for many months. Without this list, it would be difficult to remember who all uses Power-Ups.

Dragon racing peeves of mine...

One; Speedhackers of course. They ruin racing for everyone...plus if you get into a race with one, ya can't leave without getting yourself a time penalty.

Two; speaking of the timer, everyone including innocent players suffer from the time penalty which was supposed to eliminatie the use of players ticking themselves in.

Three; Say your racing someone and your both head to head and tail to tail. Your approaching the finish line of the third lap and it's gonna be a close race...everything is fine until the player you were racing against uses a speed boost at the last second before reaching the finish line. You both go back into the lobby with the player who boosted appearing innocent as if he or she didn't use a boost...
Next race I make sure to boost and trap back to let him or her know I saw what happened.
In my opinion end boosting is cheap and there is no skill involved in winning that way. Good races are always ruined by this method.
Don't get me wrong...I enjoy trapping and boosting frenzys (TRR would be boring without them) but at least make it look like you used a boost instead of using it to secretly secure a win. You can tell if someone end boosted by looking at the map and watching the players dot burst forward at the very end and if you race that player again afterwards, then the rest of the boost from the previous race will show up in this race and the player will speed at the beginning of the race.

Four; shaming players who use Toothless. He is apart of the game and we used our own money for him.

Five; getting bumped. This one doesn't bother me as much because it happens quite a bit...but yeah.

im starting to change opinion

im a newbie too to sod, and ive always have been against traps but not so much boosts. but traps are truly a skill and do add that spark to the race. but when it comes to staying away from your opponents back its very tricky due to the games lag where your viewing them all over the place. ive found that my oponents seem to be more to the right of where they should be as if im looking through water. this makes it hard to pinpoint where they are and where u should be to be out of the way.
though this is where boosting comes in, if u have got a player who is in front of u and is using traps u can use your skill of boostting and now you are in that winning position.

but with myself may i have be notice, i have not got the max speed for racing gear which i apoligise for saying it so much. but im finding that the fact i have less speed stats; this is im finding that i get bumped more than i should if i had the best speed gear. because never i hear players with best gear getting bumped every race so easiely.

in the end its just a kids game, as veryone says. but really us teenagers and adults are the ones mostly spending money on the game, i would think. and so eventually as the bugs never get fixed if so to happen, then thats bound to be the death of the game, if it was to happen.

A few things to think about when it comes to racing and the utilization of its tactics (shortcuts, clothing, boosts, traps, Toothless/Light Fury) and hopefully easing some of your frustration.

Some clans (like Great Heights and Bandito Gang) are considered "racing clans"... which means we offer a team-like environment and skills training for players that are interested in competitive racing, because they enjoy the art of competition, win or lose.

We encourage our members to wear full gear, use their fastest dragons, and to use traps/boosts at their own discretion (although we recommend not using them against new/slow racers). We especially encourage the use of traps/boosts against clanmates, as this helps them to train each other.

Whether you're the one boosting, dropping the traps or dodging them... a race with powerups improves your focus, agility, and reaction times. Being able to gracefully control a boosted dragon around a corner or just barely dodging a box often gives a better sense of accomplishment than simply winning a race. Being a skilled racer isn't just about speed... it's about speed and tactic. Using shortcuts is a tactic that nearly every racer utilizes these days, same with racing gear and a fast dragon. Successfully using/avoiding powerups requires a higher multitasking skill set, and it's meant to be challenging for both sides in different ways.

This is also why we discourage our members from leaving races/avoiding racers who are highly skilled and/or use powerups, because it's the perfect opportunity to follow, watch, and learn. Furthermore, even if you choose to race "clean" and find it difficult to dodge traps, it just might encourage you to "go off the beaten path" and discover/use slightly alternate paths that still result in a win. :)

I agree with you Strykana and Passion I also think it is a very good opportunity for racers who wish to get good. Because clean racing is very slow and is usually much easier because almost every semi competent racer is aware of the shortcuts, the gear, etc.. Altough if I know of someone who just races for fun and does not wish to get better for a competitive reason, then I will race clean and slow :)

Re: Don't

This is the way I see it:

You have no control over what other vikings will do.  You only have control over what you're doing.  You must be the shining example of good in this world.  Others will see that, and some will respect you for it.  Folks that enjoy casual racing will enjoy racing with you.

If all you're after is trophies, then you've got to use the fast dragons, and all the tools at your disposal to win.  If you're here to just enjoy the race or build experience with your dragon, it doesn't really matter whether you win or lose.

There are all levels of skill in the game, and even when racing on a Hobblegrunt, you'll win a race once in awhile.  You can beat Toothless on a sand wraith, if you've got some skill and some luck.  Even the best riders bounce off of a wall from time to time.

Racing against masters like Explodantor, Adad, Strykana and the like is a great way to learn.  See what they do, learn the shortcuts, challenge yourself, and build better skills.  You might not win, but you'll be better because of it. (And with enough practice, you might win!)

There are also plenty of kind racers who, even though they're way better than you, will let you have a win, especially if you try hard and race with them a lot.  I've seen that on many occasions.

Another tip I've found useful is to try for a 3-person race.  Then, as long as you finish (or at least get close), everybody gets trophies.  This means don't wait until the time ticks down...  Click ready as soon as you're in.  If everybody in the room does that, you benefit in 2 ways:  less waiting, and a better chance for 3-person race.

Totally agree with Stry and Kibbles here. Very well said. As mentioned before, it's about skill. We do understand the frustrations of not having access to the best dragons (maybe you do and are against using them as an example) but maybe instead of venting you should explore more in the racing world.

Some players I know never boost or trap. But pushed enough, they join the dark side. ;)

I understand why you'd be annoyed to fly on a stormcutter while a crazy ruffrunner racer is dropping traps everywhere, but that's part of learning. Even if you don't have full gear on your character, some of my teammates I know don't have access to this yet kick me and other fast players in the censored all the time.

take a deathsong as an example, those dragons are so fun to race with but so hard lol.

I do own Ruffrunner, and I worked hard to get them for the sake of having a racing dragon that can beat fury-users (And because I don't own either toothless or lightfury).

But I just... Don't want to tryhard.

And the main issue of my post was not to look down on people who use traps and boosts, but to show "Hey, my dragon only has a 7.5 speed compared to your 9.2 speed dragon. Why are you using every trap to basically cause my dragon to lose to the 20-second timer?"

I can't remember the penalties to losing to the 20-second timer, but it was either the DNF negative 5 trophies, or the 2-minute racing cool down.

I don't mind losing, but I don't like how they're pretty much ensuring me to lose HARD even if the winner was obvious.

I’m so-so

Let it be known that I suck at racing. Like I'm an easy beat. But people love to hit Dart or Ruffrunner and I'm cool with that, it's the very reason those traps exist. I understand how it could be frustrating. I'm trying to reach an achievement for racing and, well, let's just say it'll take me quite some time to come close to the first pendant. When things start getting frustrating (I am competitive) I take a break and either move on to another mini game or go check out my farm, maybe go to Berk Docks and play there or go do something productive irl. Then later come back and enjoy the game. Sportsmanship isn't present in everyone, and the truth is, they see Ruffrunner as a threat (and they are wise to do so) so they lay as many traps as they can to increase their chances of winning. They take advantage of the game's resources, you should do the same. Ruffrunner accelerates pretty fast. Get a mystery box as soon as you can and spring something. Only reason I suck at racing is because I'm in poor control of my dragons, but strategy I'm good at.

Aka Cryp or Cryptic, occasionally Fang. I have the same username in the game (my main viking). I have all three Night Lights but so far they're the only event dragons I have. Ruffrunner is my favorite and I really hope they become available for Dragon Tactics since that's my favorite minigame. AND I REALLY HOPE DREAMWORKS ALLOWS ADULT NIGHT LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY HAVE EVERYTHING TO GAIN AND BECAUSE MY LIL FURIES WOULD LOOK SO COOL GROWN UP!

Racers that glitch ahead? I dunno if anyone else has this problem but some racers, even the ones with slow dragons, they somehow glitch forward. Like I was 1st and then this Whispering De.ath blinked very far in front of me.

People that use Toothless, the Light Fury, or the Night Lights. Y'know scratch that because if I had them I'd be using them too.

Hackers that race. This is becoming a problem. They use unfair means to become 1st place and that makes my angry.

Sparta's backstory

Sparta's name was originally Ocean before she became a rogue dragon rider. She is the sister of Eir and Nikora Stormheart making her Ocean Stormheart. When Drago Bludvist destroyed her island she wasn't able to escape unlike her sisters who separated once they had left their burning home. Sparta then chose a different name, learning to survive in the wild and in her spare time, try to find a potential home. One day as she was building a makeshift shelter she heard the growl of a pained animal and followed the sound to see a dragon trapped in a net hanging from a tree. This creature was the most beautiful thing Sparta had ever seen. In pity she cut the rope freeing the dragon. Instead of flying away, the dragon stayed. That was when Sparta forged an unforgettable bond. She decided to name her new friend, Evley, also discovering she could talk to dragons. After hiding and running for five years straight, they both had enough and made an oath to never run again after they've found a suitable island. This island turned out to be Berk where Astrid and Heather misinterpreted her as a dragon hunter. She eventually told them who she was, clearing up the conflict. Now she's spending her life with new friends in New Berk and adopting dragons.

There's sometimes little pockets in the walls you can go through if that's what you're talking about, the blinking glitches I think are either hackers, or something's up with your connection or idk.... Haven't figured that out

The server issues over the past few months have caused visual lag of your opponents in TRR (dots jump around on the track map, dragons appear to fly through walls, etc)... that being said, there are a couple hidden shortcuts that involve small cracks/holes in walls as well... but it sounds like the "glitching ahead" that you're talking about is more lag-related.

There are several highly skilled racers in TRR at any given time, the combination of their speed and use of shortcuts can frequently appear as though they are "jumping/glitching" forward along the track because there is a delay in the server communication.

Speed hackers can also appear to glitch ahead as well...  but there is usually an additional variant that happens with a speed hacker- such as starting before the countdown timer reaches 1, having finish times that don't match actual times, or finishing a race extraordinarily faster than possible (such as a highly skilled racer that uses 3-4 boosts).

Lastly, never judge a dragon by what's on their Racing Stat Card... most of them are wrong in the game and have been for years. Whispering Deaths are actually quite speedy, contrary to what their racing stats say. :)

I mean, traps and boosts are a normal part of the game, so I don't really have too much issue with people using them.  Then again, I don't race as much as I used to, so... yeah.  I admit though, I have gotten a bit irritated when I would be just about to cross the finish line, only to see another racer boost past, just barely finishing before me within the last second.  Of course, I've kinda done that too, so I don't really get as irritated like I used to.  The one thing that really gets me angry is when people speedhack.  I'm pretty sure most others here who don't hack to win also dislike it.  Hacking to win a race is cheating.  It also gives the player doing it an unfair advantage over those who actually work hard by following the rules.  Really, if you feel the need to break the rules in order to win races, what does that say about how good of a racer you actually are?

Trophies: 523. So far, all my trophies are from racing, which, for me, took many races. I've gotten a lot better, but I'm in no way the best.

. Main Dragon for Racing: My Sand Wraith, Claw. Sand Wraiths may not have Toothless' speed or acceleration rate, or the speed of dragons like the Skrill and Razorwhip, but they have a very good top speed at 8.8, and they have a better acceleration and turn rate. This, in my opinon, makes them one of the best racing dragons.  For my second main viking, Seerboldraven, it's Silvermist the Flightmare. Not quite as good acceleration and turn rate as the Sand Wraith, but the speed is the same (8.8), and the turn rate is still good for a race.

Main Dragon for Battle: My Whispering Death, Thorntail. I also use my Changewing, Ghost. For Seerboldraven, it's Whisper the Whispering Death.

My code: EZEPJ4, just in case you want to be friends but can't find me in-game.

Random Fact I just came up with: If dragons were birds, let's face it: the Night Fury would either be a Peregrine Falcon because both are really fast, or a Barn Owl because both are stealthy and have a hair-raising screech.

I am fully against Hacking in SoD!

This is my main viking, nakataGreenThumbs, with her main dragon, a female Titan wing Deadly Nadder named Skyhopper, who's clearly taking a snooze here.

Here's the story about how my OC viking Raineir met her dragon:

Berk was not an easy place to live. It was cold, it snowed there most of the year, finding food was not always an easy task, and, yes, it was cold. Oh, and the almost constant dragon raids didn't help matters either. To Berk's vikings, it was either kill or be killed, no other option. Well, except for one viking girl. Much like Berk's heir, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, Raineir Feralsome was considered an "odd one out." Except, instead of wanting to prove herself by killing a dragon like Hiccup, she didn't like to kill. She thought there had to be another way like Valka, Hiccup's 'dead' mother. One day, Raineir was exploring the forest in Raven Point. She liked to explore the land of Berk, learning about its geographical features. Seemingly out of nowhere, a screech of pain rang out. Alarmed, Raineir ran towards the source of the noise. Coming upon a cove (yes, THAT cove), she looked down and saw a small group of what appeared to be hunters, since they were holding spears and bows and arrows. They were surrounding what looked like a Skrill. The poor dragon was in bad shape. There were wounds on its sides, and had trouble fighting the hunters off in her weakened state. Raineir quickly climbed down and made herself known. "Hey!" She shouted, "step away from the Skrill, and none of you will get hurt!" She drew her sword and moved in front of the dragon. The leader stared at her, then laughed. "You?" He said, "a mere girl willing to fight to defend a beast?" She didn't flinch, only glaring more fiercly at him. Making up her mind, she charged at him, sword ready, not to kill, but to possibly knock him and his goonies out. As she was about to do so, a a small bolt of lightning came from... the sword? The lightning hit one of the hunters, instantly knocking him out. Surprised, Raineir looked at her sword in shock, then glared at the leader again. Not wanting to become the next target, he and the rest of his goonies ran away fast. Once they were gone, she turned towards the Skrill, taking medical supplies out of her satchel. The Skrill looked at her in shock, obviously surprised to witness a human protecting a dragon. Raineir put her hand out. The Skrill seemed hesitant, but then she put her snout gently on the girl's outstretched hand. Raineir set to work on cleaning and bandaging the dragon's wounds. She decided to name her dragon Flash. Flash, once fully healed, let Raineir become her rider. Because Raineir had saved Flash, Flash would never stop protecting her from any threat. They're more than just friends; they're family, and will always be loyal to each other, no matter what. This story happened about a month or so before Hiccup discovered Toothless.

Here's how Raineir met Scout:

Raineir was having a pretty good day. Hiccup woke up from his coma a few days ago and was getting used to his prosthetic, and the war between the dragons and Berkians was finally over. She went to go get some fish for Flash's dinner, and aside from nearly tripping over Fungus, Mildew's sheep, and listening to Mildew complain about that, not much happened with that. Upon arriving home, she set the basket of fish in front of Flash (Flash stayed with Raineir and sometimes slept in Raineir's room instead of the stables) who promptly started eating happily. Raineir heard a tiny squeak come from somewhere. Confused, she looked around for the location and source of the noise. It sounded like a Terrible Terror. Flash suddenly stopped eating and growled at her fish basket. "Flash, what-," Raineir peered inside and out flew a pink and yellow Terrible Terror with reddish brown horns and back spines. Flash roared in alarm and growled at the intruder. "Whoa! Calm down, girl. It's just a little Terrible Terror," Raineir tried to calm her down. She held her hand to the little dragon, who looked defensive. "Hey, it's ok, little guy." the terror growled at that. "Oh, I'm sorry! You're a girl, then." Happily, the dragon nudged Raineir's hand. "I think I'll name you... Scout! What do you think, do you like that name?" Scout squeaked happily at that. Soon enough, Flash warmed up to the little newcomer, though was still sometimes annoyed by the little dragon's antics and 'singing.' Raineir soon trained Scout to search/scout out objects with hand signals. Her new friend warmed up to Raineir's parents and fellow dragon riders/friends pretty quickly (Snotlout is an on and off case).

How Raineir met Claw:

It was a fairly stormy day on Berk, with rain coming down in plentiful amounts, though no thunder or lightning. Raineir was riding Flash on their evening flight, despite the weather. They landed in the cove, when a loud roar was heard. It sounded like a roar of distress. "Deja Vu," Raineir said. This was what happened right before she found Flash. She climbed back on Flash and they flew into the forest, towards the source of the roar. In a large clearing was a purple... Sand Wraith? It was a Sand Wraith! The poor guy looked lost and confused, so naturally Raineir wanted to help. Cautiously and slowly, she walked up to the dragon. The Sand Wraith turned around and noticed her standing a few feet away from him. Alarmed, he got ready to attack if necessary. He growled loudly at her. Flash got into her attacking position as well, ready to defend her sister if needed. Raineir calmed Flash down. "It's ok, don't worry, girl. I got this." Flash calmed down, though she still looked wary. Surprised at the bond between a dragon and a human, the Sand Wraith seemed to calm down a little as well, though still a bit defensive. Raineir then noticed the scars on the dragon's right side, as well as the fact that the left wing looked broken. She slowly held her hand out to him. "Hey there, boy. You must have had a tough time with humans, huh? I can help you with that wing of yours, if you let me. I won't hurt you. I promise." The Sand Wraith seemed hesitant, but then he slowly pressed his snout into Raineir's palm. "Ok, I'm going to need help getting you back. I'm going to let out a call, so don't be startled when I do, ok?" The dragon nodded. Raineir let out a Night Fury call. Soon, Hiccup arrived on Toothless, and together with Raineir and Flash, they created a large sling which the two dragons carried the Sand Wraith to the village in. The dragon was hostile to the other villagers, but Raineir calmed him down. Gothi was able to fix and bandage his wing. Unfortunately, even when fully healed, Claw, as he was now named, would always fly abnormally, though he was forever grateful to the viking girl who helped him.

How Raineir met Fireball the Gronckle:

It was peaceful on Berk once again, now that the Berkians and Outcasts were allies and Dagur was no longer a threat. Raineir was getting ready for her early morning flight with Flash. She was just finishing tying her second braid when she heard a loud commotion outside. Well, Berk was almost peaceful. There was still the occasional viking arguement and of course, untrained dragons wreaking havoc. Raineir groaned. "Not again," she said. Hurrying outside, she looked around for the source. Sure enough, there was a crowd of vikings. Raineir then noticed what was annoying the vikings: a stray and agitated Gronckle. He was obviously untrained and not used to so many humans, as he was growling and whacking his bludgeon-like tail into a few buildings, also shooting lava balls all over the place. Hiccup was already there by the time she approached the scene. Though Hiccup was one of the best at training dragons (both he and Raineir were pretty much tied with that), he looked at her and said, "Rain, can you help me train this Gronckle?" Although Gronckles were normally relatively easy to train, this one was proving to be a difficult case. Raineir agreed, and slowly approached said dragon. The Gronckle noticed her prescence and growled lowly at her, pawing the ground with his feet. "Hey, it's ok, boy. We aren't gonna hurt you. You're safe here." She then carefully held her hand out, revealing a small rock. The Gronckle looked surprised at the peace offering, but then he ate the rock happily, shooting a fireball in the sky afterward. He then nudged Raineir's hand. She smiled. "That's what I'm gonna call you. Fireball."

How Raineir met Earthgrinder the Whispering Death:

On the little-known, forested island of Rock Pine (I just came up with that), there were few dragons. One of them was a Titan Whispering Death. He lived in the tunnels he dug deep below the land's surface. His name was Earthgrinder. Earthgrinder's tunnels were dug deep in the forest, and for good reason. Now although very few humans have come to Rock Pine in the past, Earthgrinder was still very cautious. From past experiences, he knew what humans were capable of. He was searching for food one day, when he heard a ruckus going on. It sounded like distressed dragons and... humans! Growling, Earthgrinder readied himself for the intruders. Out of seemingly nowhere, 6 or 7 dragon hunters emerged, looking for more dragons. Having captured the island's other dragons, they turned their attention to Earthgrinder. Wanting a rare, uniquely colored dragon, they charged at him. Earthgrinder fired at them and dodged their weapons, flying away from Rock Pine. He went searching for another island to live, and came upon Dragon's Edge. Not noticing the built structures, Earthgrinder went to the forest and dug tunnels to live in. The next day, he heard... human voices! He shot out the tunnel and prepared to attack those on his island. He saw 7... teenagers, it looked like. And were those dragons protecting them? One of them, girl with dark brown hair and violet eyes (Raineir), with a Skrill next to her, came up to him slowly and cautiously, putting her hand out gently. Earthgrinder wasn't sure what to think. After a few moments, he decided they were good and pressed his snout into her palm. Since meeting these young humans, Earthgrinder soon became used to living with them and their dragons, especially the girl, the first human to show him kindness.

About Raineir

Full Name: Raineir Feralsome

Age: 19-20 (by the time of How to Train Your Dragon 2)

Gender: Female

Height: Shorter than the average female. 5 ft, 2 in.

Hair Color: Dark brown, tied into two semi-long braids in the back. In HTTYD 3, she now has wavy, shoulder length dark brown hair, which now has a purple streak on the right side.

Eye Color: Violet

Wears: Long sleeve gray dress, dark green leggings, brown fur boots, and two belts, one around the waist and one cross body style in which she keeps her sword. She also wears a necklace with a silver pendant of a Skrill. In HTTYD 3, Raineir now wears a short sleeve gray and purple top, gray leggings, Skrill-inspired skirt, Skrill boots, Skrill arm bracers, and metal shoulder guards. She still wears the waist belt, but instead of just one cross-body belt, she has two that cross over each other. She also still has the Skrill necklace.

Dragons: A Skrill named Flash. Flash looks like a regular Skrill, but has noticeable scars on her sides from when she was wounded by dragon hunters, about a month or so before Hiccup met Toothless. Flash, in an act of graditude, accepted Raineir as her rider and life-long partner. Like Hiccup and Toothless, Raineir and Flash proved that friends aren't just limited to the same species. Flash's personality is a little different from the average Skrill, though being one, she can have a bit of an attitude, and like Toothless, can be sarcastic and snarky. Nevertheless, Flash is a very loyal partner to Raineir. She is very affectionate towards her human sister (Raineir) and other humans and dragons she trusts. She and Raineir are very much like siblings. Raineir also later befriends a Terrible Terror she names Scout, who she taught to "scout" out people, dragons, and objects using hand signals. Scout is very friendly and playful, though not afraid to fight if her friends are threatened. Sometime between Mildew's betrayal of Berk and the war between the Berkian, Outcasts, and Berserkers, Raineir found and helped Claw, a Sand Wraith lost and confused in the forests of Berk.  Raineir's secondary riding dragon is Fireball the Gronckle.

Other Dragons: In addition to her main dragons, Raineir has also trained many others: Earthgrinder a titan Whispering Death, Silvermist a light violet Flightmare, Fireflower a violet Monstrous Nightmare, Lightning a violet and green Shockjaw, Bluebird a Deadly Nadder, and many others.

Main weapon: Electro, her trusty Gronckle Iron sword. Upon meeting Flash for the first time, Raineir defended her from dragon hunters, and discovered that her sword has the ability to shoot out lightning bolts.

Personality: In the first movie (if she were in it), she was much like Hiccup, though not as awkward (sorry, Hiccup). She and Hiccup are still very similar to one another. Raineir is intelligent, sometimes sarcastic, and very witty. Like Astrid, she is fully willing to fiercely defend her friends. She is a very kind and good-hearted person, always ready to help out her friends and family, though not afraid to call them out when they get out of line. She doesn't like to kill unless it's absolutely necessary. Raineir, like Hiccup, likes to consider herself a peacemaker.

Unofficial, Official Title: The Lightning Rider

Fun fact about Raineir: For an unknown reason, Raineir has an immunity to lightning, and eletrical shocks don't hurt or affect her negatively in any way. She may have been born this way, or maybe she gained it early on in her life, both probably foreshadowing her becoming a Skrill rider.

There's a speed boost (not hack) from mystery boxes that people often use to hit you last second and win 1st place. You may not like it (I don't) but it is a fair thing in the game.

"I do not get distracted eas- ooh, look at that bird!"

Yeah, I'm aware of of that speed boost, and it's totally fair since it's something that's supposed to be in the game.  I don't get as upset/irritaed as I used to about it.  I'm very frustrated with people who do hack in order to win races, which is the second thing I mentioned.

Yeah this Skrillknapper just swooshed past my Ruffrunner and a Light Fury (yes she was beating my pathetic ash). I was actually flying pretty decent, somewhat keeping up with a Light Fury. And all of a sudden...ZWOOP! Skrillknapper flashed by. No way that chonky boi could outdo the Light Fury especially when he was like half a lap behind me when it happened. I didn't know it was a hack until now. Lol
