I'm not going to get offended if you guys disagree or get offended. Or if you offer a different opinion. Lets be real. Whether we're adults or kids, we're at a point where we can talk about this stuff. We need to be real with each other.

When I first got Facebook, I commented on videos. Unfortunately, the responses i conjured were ridiculously rude. Eventually, I decided it wasn't worth the hype, and the maturest decision was to back off. Since, i've kept negative comments off, and attempted positivity and encouragement.

However, I read comments every once and a while. Probably a mistake. What baffles me is the level of immaturity. The insults people throw at each other. Over different opinions. I understand people have the right to express their opinion. But using that excuse to justifye immature behaviour? There's a difference betwen over-sensitivity, and acting like a jerk.

I'm not one for sugar coating, but unecessary negativity baffles me. When people put their opinions on a pedastle, and treat others like bugs. Act like they're "the chosen one." (<- This doesn't exist) It's really really sad.

I need to stop reading facebook comments.

Do what I did and leave facebook entirely. I have the messenger app so people who I care about can still contact me and everyone else can just continue thinking I'm a recluse who didn't "defriend" them while I never, ever have to see their racist and bigoted comments again. Honestly best decision I ever made for how to deal with extended family.

As for videos, yeah that's a problem. People don't understand when videos are actually harmful, such as when they showcase real abuse, or when art should be accepted as art and not critiqued as "it's an animation so clearly it's made for kids and therefore how dare it not fit my morals." Both of these are the issues that keep me from reading comments on videos. I use the app now and that way I can just watch what I want to, support creators I want to support, and not deal with the children fighting in the comments.

I use a variety of social media platforms, including Facebook, to promote myself (through Facebook pages) and specific business's i need to endorse. I'd love to leave Facebook, but i can't unfortunately. I will limit my time, however. In addition, some of the cooking pages offer an amazing variety of recipes to try.

I find it absolutely hilarious when, because of a video, suddenly everyone is a doctor or a veterinarian. It just emphasizes a level of immaturity. Society is crumbling because of this.

Thanks for commenting!

I'd understand the immaturity

I'd understand the immaturity if it was on Youtube or Reddit or some other place where you're anonymous, but Facebook? Really? They know that people can find out where you live through that, right? That's pure stupidity, plain and simple. There's a point where it goes beyond 'having a voice' and straight into butthole territory.

I haven't used Facebook for anything but games, off-site. It's gotten really dumb for me. I don't need it. Everybody I talk to can be contacted by phone.

Also going to add, that while some users and youtubters are adults, a majority of the viewers are children. I'd expect a level of immaturity, however, that's stereotyping every child as immature. Lets be honest, some adults are ten times more immature than children. And some children are very very mature. That's always a relief.

We live in a time where people love to scream "social injustice" on everyone video. I mean, social injustice is important, but screaming it on every single video?

I agree with everything you've said. I was so frustrated last night. I feel like i'm watching society crumble in its own wrath. And i'm helpless to do anything about i.

Anonymity does things to

Anonymity does things to people. They feel they can say whatever they want without consequence, and for the most part you can.

If it makes you feel any better, the internet doesn't represent what's going on in society. Violence and crime has actually gone down by half since nineteen ninety-one, if you can believe it (in the U.S. at least, I don't know where you live). I guarantee you if you met most of these people in real life, they put up a front and act like a civilized person (besides children maybe). I wouldn't take any of it to heart.

My mom and sister experience the same thing on Facebook. That's half the reason I don't want a facebook account. The other half being I'd rather spend my time on this forum and the game. I guess I really need to get a life. XD

Anyway, I totally agree. There's absolutley no need for people to be rude. People can express their opinions without being rude or getting offended if someone doesn't agree with them. My mom and sister have told me so much about what goes on on facebook. It's ridiculous. Everyone should just be mature and realize everyone's got their own opinion and the right to express it but should do so in in a respectful manner. My advice is to try and limit how many comments you read and if you do see negative things try to just ignore it and move on.

I AM IRONGIRL

Just dump your phone. I know it sounds stupid, but when I got rid of my iPhone and replaced it with a blueberry- I have never been happier. Not having to answer to the world is freedom. Freedom to live your life without the anxiety of replying to every single comment. Here's my advice, dump all your electronics except your computer. It's been scientificly proven that people without phones and gagdets are Far more happier than those who get caught up in what the world is doing. Focuss more on YOUR life, not your Facebook life.
