The wild Thorin fled!

Isabo was utterly bewildered by what had just happened. She turned away as soon as she saw the Skrill, "Sorry you deathcloud, not today." She murmured to herself. When the rider and dragon finally left, she slid onto the back of her angry and confused Nadder, who had been jolted onto her feet by Bolt's arrival. They calmly mosed to thier last class of the day, deciding that that was enough interaction for one day. Upon arriving, they quietly sat down and listened to what the teacher had to say. Listening to what the teacher had to say about how to survive in the wilderness calmed the extremely tense pair. Soon they were doing tasks; cutting wood, building shelters, fishing, and all of the sorts. Isabo was content and forgot about the Skrill.

((This is a time-skip, so you can ignore it if you want to keep the current time we are currently on, but this character wont be able to interact with anyone until we get to this point... Sorry if this is a problem! >.<))

When Isabo and Co. were finally finished, the sky was getting dark, but there was still plenty of time to get back to thier own individual farms. Some of the students that were in the class decided to hang out, tell stories, possibly play a few pranks until they were forced to go back, which wouldn't be long. Isabo somehow got roped into staying, well a few of the people also staying were her close friends, so she didn't really decline when they asked. The group sat around a campfire in a small cave in case it rained. Many tamers were sitting on the few logs that they could find, some students were sitting on the ground. Isabo got a sturdy spt on a log, her dragon somewhere nearby, but the rider knew/thought that she would be safe in the company of the group.

((Trainer Spottedbreeze called back Isabo, and sent out Alki!))

Alki nodded, "well, there's more in it than that. A lot more; but, let's let you have a look yourself." He smiled happily while opening the door to the large enclosed area. He couldn't wait to see her reaction to that monster of a book. It took him a minute to scan the wave of people for Gobber, surrounded by curious new trainers. 'He's obviously enjoying the attention.' He thought, making eye contact with the blacksmith. Gobber said something, but Alki was too far away to hear it. He walked over to Gobber, and told him why he was there. Gobber happily obliged, and pulled out a book. He handed the book to the girl, who wasn't prepared for the weight and almost dropped it. Alki couldn't stifle his laugh in time, but corrected himself quickly and "shut his trap".

Alki used Heavy Book!

((It's super effective!!))

Adaryn staggered under the weight of the book, then flushed red. He's laughing at me! "Isn't it supposed to be a brief history?" She asked, bewildered. She flipped to the first page, assuming that it had to go pretty far back in Berk's history to justify such a large page count, but it began with a short biography of Hiccup. She looked up at Alki, feeling overwhelmed. "Either this book isn't as brief and it's supposed to be, or I missed a whole lot." She said, her voice slightly frantic as she pushed a few stray strands of hair back into its braid.

((Sorry for the short post! I was thinking that Adaryn could have her time skip while struggling with the book (poor thing needs to practice her reading), and then she can join the others in the cave or go home or whatever. It'll only take another post or so to get to a good spot for the time skip. Is that ok?))

((Also I think Alki and Adaryn would be cute together oops))

I second the time skip! *stands heroically*

((I just hope it's okay with everyone else. I don't want peeps gettin' mad. It might have to wait a little bit, becuase there are discussions on-going at the moment. Oh well.))

Alki nodded and said considerately, "Oh, well a lot has happened in the past few years and they decided to add it to how the school came about, in a long heavy book. Also, sorry for laughing, I really shouldn't have." He scratched his head, looking at the ground apologetically. He stood like that for a few moments but suddenly looked back up, and said happily, "Well, I should probably leave you to reading, it's actually not a bad read; but first let's get you out of this over-crowded room." He waved in goodbye to Gobber, but the other male didn't seem too see it, and led her back outside the building, and said kindly, "If you ever need my help or just someone to talk to, I'll just be where I normally am, which is the Libary. I'll see you around." As he finished speaking, he started walking towards the Libary, but was slow enough that if she had anything to say in responce, he would be able to hear it.

In Which Adaryn Doesn't Fail at Reading as Much as Expected

((I had Alki say a line, just to speed things up a bit -- I hope that's alright! I tried to make it fit with his character but if you want me to change it, I will. Sorry for not asking your permission first))

Adaryn glanced from the book to Alki, and then back again. Making up her mind, she scrambled after the older Viking. "Um, I think I'll read in the library," she blurted out. "I mean, if that's okay with you."

Alki nodded. "Of course. I'll be doing other things, but that's what the library's for, after all."

Adaryn followed him to the library, where Alki immediately went off to do his librarian duties -- shelving books, keeping the peace, and so on. Alki had been right -- the library had cleared out. Only a few students remained, quietly reading or doing homework. Adaryn found an empty table and settled down to read.

Not for the first time, she cursed her upbringing. If she had been born a Viking instead of a forgotten child in a peasant family, she would've at least been exposed to reading and writing at a young age. "I think I need a verbal summary," she sighed, but plunged in anyways.

She skimmed through the first section of the book -- the battle with the Red Death, the founding of the school, all that she was familiar with. Suddenly, a group of runes jumped out at her. Adaryn recognized her own name printed in the book. She read, sounding out the difficult words under her breath:

Strange Cases involving the Personality Test

The Case of Adaryn, a Girl from the Mainland.

Green eyes widening with every passing word, Adaryn realized that somebody -- she didn't know who -- had summarized part of her life in this book. She read slowly, but now more eagerly.

In this case we see an instance of the Personality Test displaying Surprising Accuracy. Adaryn, born and raised in acute poverty in a sea-oriented village on the mainland in an area known as Demetae, arrived at the school in long skirts and bare feet. She displayed extremely timid behavior, quite the opposite of the rowdy Viking children that were now her colleagues. Adaryn hardly spoke, never made eye contact, and displayed various other Nervous Tendencies. Therefore, her Personality Test result shocked everyone -- Montrous Nightmare. This caused a stir among the Senior Trainers, who debated whether or not to allow her to take a Nightmare egg. They feared that she would be incapable of controlling such an aggressive, high-energy dragon, and as a result would be maimed or even killed by it. They questioned the accuracy of Gobber's test. Nevertheless, due to those senior trainers that argued in Adaryn's defense (most notably Hiccup), Adaryn was permitted to Hatch the Montrous Nightmare egg. What followed was a remarkable transformation of Adaryn's personality, as she proved to have more than enough willpower to match the sprightly Nightmare, whom she named Kalira. This case proves that the Personality Test often knows more about an individual than they know themselves.

"Wow," Adaryn murmured under her breath. I never knew I caused such a fuss. She thought of Kalira, and where she would be without her dragon. Very unhappy, that's for sure. Suddenly she remembered that she was supposed to be catching up on what she'd missed while traveling, not reminiscing. She flipped to a page with unfamiliar events and began there.

((~Time Skip~))

Hours later, she still sat with the book, in a state of shock and awe as she struggled through page after page of runes. Dragon trade? Romans? Wanderer tribe? The sheer volume of information proved hard to take in. I missed this much? She came to a point when she couldn't read another rune, and shut the book. A quick glance out the window revealed that she'd read for much longer than she'd thought -- the sun was setting. The library was now completely deserted. She hadn't seen Alki in hours. Was he still here? "Alki?" she called quietly.

((Wow, that was a lot of writing! Again, I hope that you don't mind me writing a line of Alki's dialogue. Also I hope it's ok that I shoved Adaryn into the book. So sorry if that's a problem!))

Hmmm, what to put as the subject...

((Don't worry, your representation was spot on. Trainer used Embarrass Alki!))

Alki was comfortably dozing behind his desk in his chair in the quiet peacefulness of the now almost barren Libary. Since he was a light sleeper, he woke up immediately when he heard his name. The sudden movement made him fall out of his chair, letting out a loud "Oof". At a snail's pace, he got to his feet and walked towards the familiar voice, and said, "yes I'm still here, you need anything?" He moved his hair out of his face, trying to remember who he was speaking to. It took him a minute, but he soon figured it out. He sat down in a seat next to her, and waited for her to ask him a question.. Or somethin'.

((Sleepy Alki is not a thinking Alki. These are my words of wisdom. Have fun.))

In which Adaryn says the wrong thing and is a dork in general

((We can wait for you guys to finish up if needed))

"I thought you'd left," Adaryn explained. Still in a fog from reading, it took her a few seconds to focus on Alki's face. His eyes were a very interesting shade of brown and yellow. She hadn't noticed that before. And his hair was all messed up, but somehow it still managed to look nice. She pondered this for a moment. They were sitting really close to each other. The silence dragged on, and still she just gazed at him. Suddenly she realized she was staring and jerked out of her daze. "Um, I like your necklace," she blurted out, trying to give herself an excuse for staring. "Is that a Nadder spine?"

((Looks like Adaryn mentioned the one thing she really shouldn't bring up. What a dork. She's never going to be a diplomat at this rate! Also, I think she may be crushing on Alki. Whoops. No pressure for Alki to like her back or anything... it actually might be more entertaining if he doesn't XD I hope her affections don't inconvenience anyone))

Oopsy Daisy! Sorry ('x')

((I'll just get this out of my system, then I'll stop, I promise. Again, sorry, I just got carried away. Please don't hurt me. ; - ;))

Alki looked down, and fiddled the Nadder spine without saying a word. He looked back up, and tried to hide his emotions and keep a happy face as he said, "yea, it's from my last dragon, Exavier. Did you ever hear of us? I still can't believe we got that far in the big league." His smile turned into a grimace as he continued, "yea, but he's gone now and, this is all I have of the big lug." He stuffed the spine down his shirt, "Well, that's enoough about me. What did you learn from reading this big old book?" He changed the subject, not wanting to talk aboout his deceased friend anymore, chance he would shed some tears.

((Honestly, he's even thinking about relationships and/or crushes at the moment. He's too busy trying to sort out everything going on and figuring out which dragon to choose as his next scaly companion; which I, myself, am still trying to figure out at the moment. By the way, for anyone reading this, suggestions and ideas are still extremely welcome.))

((I don't know how to go on... JOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH. AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! *has mentally stabbed self multiple times*))

"Okay, are we all comfy? Yes? Good."

Away from most of the ruckus that had so far occurred in the library, Jarret got his sister and Magnus to seat themselves. He took a swift glance back in the direction of the two figures, but found that his view had been blocked by a shelf. Again. Oh well, more pressing matters to attend to anyway.

Turning back to the two, he worked up a flippant smile. "So what's the issue, sis?"

"It's not an issue nor problem, as you put it, unless you're talking about your recent bout with that girl," Aylen wasn't too keen on being warm with her brother - at least not yet. "In which case, you're an idiot. Again."

"Oh. Well, I suppose you could handle yourself in front of her, especially in your state of mind?" he shot back rather calmly, folding his arms across his chest as he leant back into the chair.

There was silence, one where Magnus found himself shifting uncomfortably in his seat. He had unusual penchant for getting into trouble that he didn't make, especially around Aylen, and it was the same for his twin, Hammerstein. The archivist noted the avertion of his eyes.

Slamming the book she had carried onto the table, she faced the blacksmith. "The storm earlier during my class. Something is off about it."

"It's just a storm."

"It isn't. Shut your trap if you don't know," she snarled at Jarret, who stared at her in surprise. Referring to Magnus, she continued, "And also...what do you know about Old Fitril the Watchful?"

nyoom

Adaryn found herself getting misty-eyed for the second time that day after hearing Alki's story. Exavier... Alki and Exavier.... Those names sounded familiar, but she didn't have a clear memory of hearing them. "Well, I learned that I shouldn't travel very much, because I missed everything. I still haven't processed all of it." She smiled. "But apparently I wasn't completely forgotten while I was gone, because there's a little passage in the book that talks about me."

((Alki could always get another nadder, and their relationship will be this super complicated thing because Alki would always be like "you're nothing like Exavier" and "how could you ever live up to him" (maybe he wouldn't actually say this but he would feel like it) and the nadder just tries his/her hardest every day to get Alki to like him/her, until finally Alki realizes that his new dragon is completely different from Exavier and that's ok, and he doesn't have to feel guilty about moving on and getting a new dragon after Exavier died. And then he and the new dragon are bffls and everything is happy the end :) that's my suggestion))

((I just remembered I hadn't

((I just remembered I hadn't done a reply to Isabo! O_O haha... it's not late at all...))

"Ah, well that just about explains it," Inna smiled. She had not been talking to anyone so friendly for ages, which made it feel a little wierd, but on the same time, she was glad to know that not everyone in the world hated her. "So... how are you liking it here at School? And for how long have you been here?" She asked.

Although...

((Although deep down in Alki's heart he would feel that. He would never think it or say it. He'd just see Exavier anytime they did anything (good and bad); and he would be extremely over-protective and would never fly in front of anyone in fear that they would want him to race again (and him not knowing how to say no and disappoint them). This will obviously be a problem, because this dragon is a utter show off and constantly wants everyone to have thier eyes on it (not decided gender yet) every second. Oh, how my wheels in my head are turning. Thank you for giving me ideas..))

Isabo thought for a moment, "I've been here for about a moon (month), and athough this school seems nice, I don't like the flying all too much." She gave her dragon a icy look. Her dragon just waddled up and put it's large head on isabo's shoulder, and licked her face. Isabo pushed Aroara's head off of it's perch and rubbed her face, removing the slobber, as she did so she said happily, "I've spoken enough about myself. What about you?" Her eyes bright with curiousity.

"Afraid of heights? Don't

"Afraid of heights? Don't worry! I am afraid of fish, which makes my dragon hate me! More or less, in the first days of the school, Rosethorn ate flowers to keep herself alive." Inna still felt guilty about that, but after a week or so, Inna got (more or less) over the fears, and was able to catch some fish. "I've been here for a year or two, I don't even remember, I was gone durring the Outcast attack though..." Inna told.

---

"For as far as I can remember, the Wanderers have no problems with the Winged*, so no, it's seems fine to me." Ismey said. "I don't suppose anyone around here has been able to kill you yet, aye? And don't tell me how many attempts have been made, because I am sure it's happened far too many times."

((*Winged is Inna's and Ismey's tribe, and the name is the best I could come up with... so... yah...))

Damaged goods

It did not take Thorin and bolt very long to reach the farm, but as soon as they landed Thorin noticed something was missing, the belongings of the previous owner had been carted away, leaving an indent in the ground where Thorin had moved the items to. “I hope they did not take anything” Thorin muttered as he approached his burlap bags, he slowly undid the knots that kept the bags closed. He spread the flaps of cloth apart to expose his gleaning iron armour, he shuffled through the bag to expose a large leather-bound book. “School of Dragons.... A brief history” Thorin slowly opened the weathered book, the slight breeze that filled the air ripped the fragile pages out of the beat-up book, and scattered them throughout the small field “Stink'n piece of... trash, what a way to start off the year...” Thorin grumbled as he painstakingly picked up the strewn paper.

The cold air bit into Thorin as he and his dragon made their way over to the school's library, with a thud, Thorin dismounted his dragon and waved it away. In one hand he held a burlap sack filled with the papers and the leather binding, and with the other he shoved the stiff door open, he entered the quite busy building and approached one of the librarian's.

((I am not sure if there is a RPer that would Handle such a situation, or if their character is a librarian, if not tell me, thanks))

Metal snorted in replace of a laugh but still managed to keep his placid expression, Metal racked his brain for any mention of her tribe but couldn't bring a thing to the surface of the stormy sea that was currently his thought process for the day. "Winged tribe? ... sorry don't remember them at all and as for the attempts on my life, nobody has yet to even get close to me, they are either too afraid of me or of Stoick and the events in self defence class sure as helheim wouldn't encourage them" Metal

Oh, hello. Welcome to my crib.

((Actually, Alki's the current Libarian, and is also Isabo's older brother is is very protective of her, so it might not be wise to speak anything about Alki's little sister. You've been warned~ Also, I don't know how to cope with the different time zones D:))

Alki looked over at the newcomer and said patiently, "hello, by the looks of it, you have arrived a bit late for the first day of school." He left what he was doing and walked over to him, "So, what brings you here?" His bright amber eyes were curious but careful. You can never trust complete strangers. He quickly glanced around him and stopped for a minute on his latest assignment, Adaryn, but quickly met Thorin's gaze again, his eyes sharp and knowing as he saw the book. 'Ah, that's what it is.' He thought silently.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
((This is before Isabo left for Wilderness survival training. Alright?))
Isabo looked at Inna and smiled, "I wish it was as easy as that." She remembered what was the root of her fears, and shivered fearfully. She quickly regained herself and smiled, "I hope I can get over my fears as you have yours." The thought was still in her head, and she wanted the protection of her brother once again, and to be told that no one would take her away again. She sighed deeply, 'I am not a child anymore! I can handle myself!' She called her dragon and spoke, "well, I'm glad to talk to you, but I should probably go to my next class." She turned, but paused and said happily, "If you don't have any plans, I like to have some extra company." She smiled kindly, and grabbed the horn of the saddle, and jumped on her scaly friend's back, and looked back her hazel eyes bright.
((Oh dear. It seems Josh and I are going to be far behind the RP time at the current rate. In that case, Josh, I hope you don't mind we fast-forward to keep up with Alki and the others, since we already discussed about what's to happen next. There is still that little detail Rock suggested in the PMs, so we can have Magnus "repeat" what he knows there. We'll go with that, aye? Yikes... My sincerest apologies to all.
((I fell off the planet and got sick... I did sixteen-hour days Thursday and Friday setting up and tearing down A/V systems for a couple events, and between the exhaustion, sleep deprivation and the hard manual labor while deeply inhaling 20-degree foggy air, my temporarily depressed immune system let in a sinus infection just before I spent all weekend volunteering at my church. 0_O I'm just now getting over said sinus infection, and my catch-up posts will be forthcoming. Thorin looked around the library, it seemed quite busy, an unnatural number of Vikings where actually reading. His eyes kept scanning the faces, but one lad in a dimly lit corner stood out, he was clad in black and was twiddling with widdeling knife, Thorin was just able to avoided eye contact with the stranger. Thorin's attention shifted to the man standing in front of him, he placed the sack on the nearest table and tipped it over to expose the destroyed book "Yea, I am looking for a replacement for this poorly made book, are you able to help?" Thorin motioned to the paper filled burlap sack.
Trainer recalls The Joshinator. Heavy damage sustained!
((Well, I’m pretty much better now. It was just the combination of having an insanely packed weekend and then getting sick in the middle of it (i.e. freeze-drying my sinuses with subzero fog...) that sucked the life out of me, so I spent all day today doing/thinking/being exactly nothing. My goodness, it was beautiful… ;-P That said, I’m back and I’ll honestly try to be more regular, so let’s get caught up. Onward and upward!))
Magnus was still feeling rather uncomfortable as he sat down, caught between the bickering siblings, but his ears perked up at the mention of Old Fitril the Watchful and the recent, oddly abrupt storm. “Not a lot, truth be told, but nobody really knows too much. He tended to keep to himself, and with the kinds of things he saw, nobody could really blame him.” That last phrase earned him a pair of curious glances. “I have to agree with you, Aylen, there was definitely something about that cloudburst that felt off. It didn’t seem like a Berk storm, and the timing was awfully coincidental.” Pausing for a breath, Magnus realized that he had left the topic of the old archivist dangling, and that his audience was impatiently waiting for him to pick that topic back up.
“Anyways, back to Old Fitril the Watchful. They say that it was his last voyage to the northern end of the Barbarian Archipelago that changed him. When he came back, he was reclusive, paranoid, antisocial… and had developed gray hair. He’d never say what it was he saw up there besides a runestone, but it had to have been something special.” He paused again, knowing that the rest of the story wouldn’t be so easy to narrate. “I actually found myself up that direction once, on a trading voyage. As I’m sure both of you know, what we call Helheim’s Gate was the Red Death’s nest, but local legend up north has it that the runestone found by Old Fitril marks the real gate to the afterlife.” Not quite sure how to interpret the incredulous looks he was getting, Magnus continued on.
“Honestly, I don’t think that’s actually what it is; like I said, that’s local superstition. But the fact is that something gave Old Fitril the Watchful a healthy nudge toward insanity, and I have no idea what to think it actually was. They say that, every once in awhile, a soul will try and resist being taken to the afterlife, creating a storm with wind and thunder but no rain or hail. The harder the soul fights back, the farther and faster the storm is flung away from the gate. The less superstitious rumors have it that the true explanation for the writing on the runestone, whatever it is, lies buried in a network of caves in the area. Old Fitril got closer than anyone else, but after seeing what happened to him, nobody else has dared to poke around...”
Drawing a deep breath after finishing his story, Magnus noticed that all three of them had hunched over the table in the candlelight. He sat back upright and placed his folded hands on the table. “So that’s what I know about Old Fitril the Watchful. Why do you ask? You’re not planning to do some exploring up north, are you?” He looked at Aylen, not at all reassured by the expression on her face, and tried to ignore the memories from his own voyage. Things he’d plainly seen, but still couldn’t quite explain...
----------------------------------------------
“Ehh, we’ve been fine,” Hammerstein said nonchalantly. Remembering that Briarwolf was unusually shy, he looked away in an attempt to avoid making her uncomfortable. “I’m still learning stuff about Mace every time we go somewhere new - he’s a full-grown dragon, but just barely. Certainly not old and wise by any stretch of the imagination,” he quipped, prompting an indignant glare from Maceforge. “I get bored with the School sometimes, like today, but there’s still some stuff that I’d rather learn there than by hard experience. Plus, my brother’s the school blacksmith and repair guy, so I hang around to keep him company.” Hammerstein glanced at the small dragon nosing around in Briarwolf’s pack, and then off into the distance. “What about you? Now that you have a dragon, are you going to join the School?”
‘Certainly not old and wise...’ Hmph. You’ll remember that later… Maceforge laid down on the grass with a snort, wrapping his tail up beneath his wings and settling down for what he hoped would be a nap longer than thirty seconds while his human talked with the girl. He closed his eyes and relaxed his breathing, thinking about nothing in particular…
Halibut.
*sniff*
Halibut. Again.
Why am I dreaming about fish? The Monstrous Nightmare’s large nostrils twitched and flared, and another breath confirmed the unmistakable scent of his second-favorite food. I’m not dreaming about fish. There IS a fish…? Partially opening first one eye and then the other, Maceforge’s sleep-blurred vision confirmed the presence of a large flat fish on the ground that wasn’t there before. Just on the other side of the seafood sat the baby Nightmare who had been bugging him earlier.
Impertinent little twerp interrupted my nap again… but that’s a pretty big halibut. I guess if he wants to be friends that much, I can be nice. Maceforge rumbled a soft thank-you to the small lizard and gave him a gentle nuzzle before snatching up the halibut and laying his head back down. Watching the inquisitive young dragon reminded him of when he found Hammerstein and followed him home. He certainly wouldn’t have given up a fish almost as big as himself then… I guess the little guy must really like me.
((No direct replies, pretty please? I’m sorta considering adding a flashback for Maceforge, and I may need to edit Magnus’ story in the event that I missed something or contradicted something else. I need to get to bed and finish getting better…))
((Get well soon, Josh! Make sure you rest proper, or we'll all book the next flight just to make sure you do XD))
Quiet corner. Flickering candlelight. Creaking doors. Chatter dying into low murmurs.
Aylen noted the changes in atmosphere when the young blacksmith spoke up, and honestly, she wasn't rather caught off-guard by the mood change. The area felt somewhat more oppressed, and it seemed to have gone darker than when they had first sat. The library chatter - whatever amount of it that was there earlier - had died down as well, almost to silence.
...An eerie, hushed silence.
Part of her believed that the mere mention of the old archivist tended to bring upon this mysterious feel - more than once had it occurred but never did she make known of the matter. The sudden storm of today pulled the last card on her.
"...runestone found by Old Fitril marks the real gate to the afterlife," Magnus was saying.
At this, Jarret's odd-coloured eyes visibly sparkled with curiosity, and he was soon leaning in close to the burly young man. His sudden intent on listening to the story made the current archivist uncomfortable, more so when she silently realised a strange smile forming on the leaner man's lips.
Magnus gave the two whatever he could possibly know of Old Fitril the Watchful. He was probing himself to be quite well-versed in the books as compared to an ordinary Viking blacksmith. For some reason, that...didn't seem too surprising. Strange.
"Why do you ask?" Magnus was looking at Aylen, his expression contorted in apprehension. "You're planning to do some exploring up north, are you?"
"Actually, I think I'm about to," she grinned almost uncontrollably, searching through the book for the map.
Jarret looked over at his sister, a matching grin suddenly on his face. "I have a mental map of where you're intending for. Shall we?"
"Please tell me I'm not being dragged along..." Magnus was beginning to stare at them with wide-eyes, his hands moving upwards in a manner of a 'no'.
"Sadly, my friend," the male Gryfforson chortled, slapping a hand on Mag's shoulder, "you're already in on this one. Let's go see Herald."
Aylen huffed at her brother's final statement. "Since when were you given explicit permission to refer to Headmaster by his name?"
"I never was," Jarret smirked as he stood.
Watching as her brother turned around and headed for the doorway, Aylen finally caught sight of the Viking who was first to arrive at her Archiving class. She blinked, realising that she hadn't caught his name until now. Well, that had to be embarrassing even by the slightest.
How long had he been standing there? How much had he heard?
Nudging Magnus, she urged the blacksmith towards the exit, murmuring as softly as she could, "We'll need more than just the three of us."
...?
Alki carefully grabbed the book from the burlap bag. He watched as a group of people left, but it honestly didn't bother him. He unfolded the book and inspected the pages, hoping to savage this in some way. He sighed heavily when he finally knew it wasn't worth the time. 'How did he end up with a book like this?' He looked back at the man not much younger than himself, and said, calm as can be, "I believe I can get you a replacement." He walked back over to his desk, grabbed one of the copies from underneath the bulky table, and swiftly returned to Thorin. He happily handed him the book, feeling Adaryn's confused stare. He would explain in a moment, but first he had to handle the matter at hand. He smiled uncomfortably, wanting the stranger to be on his merry way.
He glanced to the window and was relieved to see his sister heading out to her next class; and with an companion besides her dragon for once! His eyes grew soft.
~~~~~~~~~~~

Isabo smiled happily, and patted her dragon's side to tell it to start moving. The dragon sensed what she was feeling and cackled excitedly in responce. Isabo just managed to say, "Race you ther-" before her dragon beated it's wings loudly and began fly towards their destination. For the first time in a long time, she didn't wrap her arms around her dragon's neck in fear, and silently beg Odin for mercy. Her competitive side got hold of her and they flew, somewhat recklessly; as well as very uncomfortably, for they hadn't practiced that much.

In any case, they got there, safe and sound.

As he approached the trio he heard a passing comment from magnus "You're planning to do some exploring up north, are you?" Hearing this, Elder decided to stop and idly look at the books on a nearby bookshelf while he listened in more. He wasn't the biggest fan of eavesdropping, it was sneaky and deceitful, but when it had to be done, it had to be done. Aside from a journey up north, the conversation yielded little more information. Apparently it was so important that the headmaster had to be talked to. He then noticed that the archivist looked directly at him causing him to quickly turn his head and continue to browse the books, out of the corner of his eye he saw them walk away and when the footsteps receded, he made his way to the table they were sat at, red leather bound book in hand, and sat down to learn more about his people.

payment.

((From the research I have done, it seems true viking currency was called penningar, but, I only spent a few minutes researching, so it may still be wrong))

Thorin looked down at the book that the librarian had just handed him, it was in good condition “How many penningar will that be?” Thorin said as he inspected the leather-bound book. His eyes split from the book and looked back up at the librarian's face, It seemed oddly familiar, like as if he had met him somewhere “Have we met before? Or maybe I have met a sibling of yours” Thorin scanned the book-keeper's face for any clues. The librarian raised a bough at the question as Thorin scanned around the room.

I'm watching you.

((If you are going to do this, you better do this right. Also, I'm glad to help. *Grabs gasoline and carries it towards bonfire* >:) Let the fun begin.))

Alki shook hius head, "It's free. The school giving these away to the students. I'm just don't know how you ended up with this- err this." When Thorin asked about him, Alki searched through his memory, looking over anyone he had met, taking several heartbeats. He finally replied, shortly, "Nah, I've never met you, and, my folks don't live 'ere, so you must a complete stranger." He didn't even think for a moment about his sister, who wouldn't have had the nerve to talk to stangers, let alone this cocky viking.

He was a curious creature, so he asked, "Why would you get the impression that you would know me?" A grin appeared on his face, clearly anxious for the great laugh he was going to get from the answer. His eyes shown brightly in the candlelight, looking like the small flickering flames burning the wax.

Thorin used Recall name!

((Cocky?! How dare you! {Checks Charie post, sees nothing and hisses} I'll show ya Cocky!Let the Games begin!))

Thorin watch as Akli's face contorted to a sadistic joy, “Well, To be completely honest with ya, your face reminded me of a girl, her name was... Um... Isa-bode...Is-..Isaboo?..Isa...bo...Isabo!, her name is Isabo!” Thorin chuckeled off the embarrassment of recalling the girl's name. “Yea, we met when her dragon came sniff'n me. She is quite the timid creature, nearly left without saying a word!” He continued. Thorin watched as the Akli searched for something to say.

U gon' get rekt

((Excuse the grammar ^. Also, you're just asking for it!))

Alki eyes grew wide, then narrowed, showing his anger. He let out a small laugh, "You can't be serious. Who put you up to this?... Wait, you're not joking are you." He shook his head, smiling angrily. "Tsk, tsk. Stay away from my sister, or I'll have to make you." His voice lowered on the last part. He quickly returned to his usual perky self and spoke kindly, "Now, please leave before I have to feed you to the hungry wolves in the wilderness." He pushed Thorin out of the Libary doors, and growled lowly for stay away from his family. His amber eyes now wild and dangerous like a wildfire in the forest.

((Wait, is Thorin now going to go and track down Isabo, just because he's not supposed to? Find out more on our next installment.))

The crushing red haze

((Oooh Conflict!, lets see how this will pan out!))

“I would suggest you do not touch me” Thorin hissed at Akli, he focused on pushing the numbing red haze out of his mind. Thorin looked around, multiple people stopped on the path to see what the fuss was about, -No!, not now!, these people will get hurt, He will get hurt...- Thorin thought to himself as his sea-blue eyes roared and his fired soul stirred in the blacks of his eyes. He shot the angered librarian a dark look, “If you back off now, you will not loose your hands” his voice lowered to intimidate the man who stood in the doorway. “And by the looks of you... You need them.”

A new challenger appeared! (Not really)~

Alki just turned his head and said, "just get out of my sight. I don't want trouble, so just leave." When he didn't hear the familiar pitter-pattering of the door closing and footsteps disappearing he said, "Why are you still here? We don't have any issues, as long as you don't disturb my family." He knew that the hard-headed viking wouldn't listen to him, and said angrily. "Do you think I want to fight you? Honestly, that's the most censored thing I've heard today." His amber eyes narrowed, and he said kindly to Aradyn, "Sorry, but I must leave for a moment. I will be back shortly." Then he walked by Thorin, opening the door, when suddenly, someone grabbed his sleeve. He turned and was about to say something harsh, but realised who it was.

As Isabo was flying, being the reckless competitive person she was, her arm hit a branch, a tough one at that, Her arm suddenly started throbbing, and there was blood seeping from the decently sized cut. Isabo started getting dizzy and so Aroara, feeling fearful for her rider, flew straight to Alki. By the time the Nadder arrived, Isabo was in a sleeping-like trance with a small fever to match.

Alki instinctively looked at Isabo, his eyes fearful, and thought to himself, 'I hope this will heal up okay...' He rubbed Aroara's forehead for her good work, and the dragon cooed in responce. Alki turned to Thorin, his amber eyes angry, saying "This isn't over yet." Then lead Aroara towards the closest thing to an infirmary they had, the small home he and his younger sister shared.

Thorin watched as Akli walked

Thorin watched as Akli walked away from the library with his little sister laying in his arms, his face still piping with anger. Thorin looked around, almost every pair of eyes where focused on him, by that time the red haze had completely lifted from his mind, the staring students oblivious that they where even in danger. One by one the students returned their focus to their tasks, Thorin looked down at the ground, the thick book was laying on the ground, during his confrontation with the book-keeper he had loosened his grip on it and had balled his fists. Thorin used his two tone whistle call his dragon, within seconds bolt was at his side, he quickly mounted him and took to the skies.

Patchin' her up.

With what he had, Alki carefully cleaned the wound, and bounded it with some thread. He sent Aroara out ot get some water for Isabo to drink, but the girl was pretty well awake by then. She still needed the fluids, anyways. Isabo gratefully accepted the water the winged creature brought to her.

She closed her eyes and said angrily, "Alki, what were you doing when Aroara found you?"

Alki looked away, but then looked at his feet, and slowly said, "a stranger told me that he talked to you. He seemed pretty dangerous, so you should stay away from him." Suddenly, SMACK, his cheek was suddenly fleshy and immensely painful. He sighed, getting to his feet, "I'm not going to let you get hurt again. That's final. Get some rest." He knew what her answer was going to be. He heard the familiar shuffle of feet and sighed once again. "At least let me help you get there..."

Isabo was still pretty mad her her brother, but she couldn't argue at this point. He was obviously worried about her. She muttered, "Fine, but don't cause any more issues tonight. You got that." The girl felt his uncertainty, and sighed. He eventually accepted, and wrote a note to the instructor about why she was late and the condition of her arm. Telling him to keep an eye out for her if things got to straining.

The next issue was too get on Aroara's back. She tried to pull herself up the dragon's side, and on to it's back, but suddenly pain shoot through her arm, and she flinched, making her plummet towards the ground. Thankfully her brother saved her and she said thank you.

Alki gingerly lifted her on the saddle sent them on their way, knowing that the Nadder would keep her safe, as his Nadder had done for him. He quickly returned to the Libary, and was relieved that Thorin had left as well. He returned too Aradyn's table and said his apologuizes...

((Aww, Carotius... That's no fun! Take your time and get unsick, okay? We need to get Shadowclaw in here with those herbal remedies of hers. I wonder if I gave you some sort of web-transmissible virus... Hmmm... That'd definitely rewrite a few textbooks! XP And for the record, I had a sinus infection, not the flu. GET IT RIGHT. XDDD

So, I've been PMing with Mudslide, and we determined that this little escapade is the perfect opportunity to introduce her to the party. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen... here comes a new character!))

"You're right," Magnus mused, now lost in thought and giving little attention to the gentle nudge from Aylen or the young man who had just walked off to a seat. "There's no way the three of us is enough for a trip like that. Believe me, I know..." He chuckled lightly. "We'll definitely need a boat and crew, a supplies person, maybe someone to do any necessary excavation in those underground caverns..."

Looking up across the library, Magnus spied a familiar mud-brown braid hunched over a book and a candle, and a grin crept across his face as an idea formed in his head. "Actually, wait here for a minute. I'll be right back." The pair of puzzled expressions he was met with caused him to laugh again. "I think I know someone who might be interested in our little adventure," Magnus said as he turned and strode across the library toward the aforementioned studious form.

When he returned, Magnus was accompanied by a rather petite female Viking, a solid foot and change shorter than himself (and proportionately thinner). "Aylen and Jarret, this is Mudslide. My twin brother had a run-in with her Whispering Death not too long ago, which is how I met her, and I'll bet she'd be a great addition to our little group."

((Catmint. Great for colds and flu. Make a tea with it, it seriously will help.))

Briarwolf relaxed slightly when Hammerstein stopped looking directly at her, feeling a bit grateful for his rare act of forethought. She stiffened again, though, at his question about her going to the school.

"I..ah..I'm not really sure," she answered, shooting a glance at the dragons, "I suppose I should, but I'm not exactly a social person. But... I could try. For Stormflacon. He seems to like being around other dragons, anyway." She turned to watch as the dragonling chirrupped in delight at Maceforge's acceptance, before yawning and curling up next to the larger dragon. Briarwolf sighed in resignation.

"I don't suppose you could give us a lift there," she asked, sounding tired even though she wasn't, "I'll need to grab a few things, but it's not much. I'd rather not have to take a boat there..."

General questions

((Hey guys I just have a few questions,

Is the plot still being worked on? Or is it the adventure in the works?

And along with the question above, there was talk of getting a map of the school and any other major area to cut confusion, that is being worked on, right?

Lastly, this is more of a statement rather than a question, with all the time changes, there has been some confusion (on my part at least) so I was wondering if we could make a proper system for such situations, anyways, thanks for reading))
