Elder's smile dropped. Metal

Elder's smile dropped. Metal saw right through him. Should he tell him? Should he confide in him? Elder made his decision and pulled up a chair and met the piercing gaze of the black wanderer. He took a deep breath and began his story.

"I have...no memory of my life before a few years ago...but just now...i remembered something" at this point Elder found he couldn't meet Metal's gaze any longer and stared at the floor. "I had a dream...a terrible dream...I-I saw my people...dead. Their bodies strewn across the ground...as if they were nothing...I saw...my father..." Elder crushed his eye lids together to prevent the tears from streaming down his face "...I saw him dying...in my arms. I spent so long looking for information about my past...where i came from...and now that i've found it...i almost wish that i hadn't" Elder composed him self and met the Piercing eye's once more. "I remembered the name BloodCloak. Curious, I came to the library to look for more information about that name. I saw you and thought that, given your history, you would be the best person to talk to this about. But i lost my nerve. Until you saw right through my facade."

"But i realise now...I don't want to forget...I don't want to stop caring...I don't want to be like YOU" Metal's gaze almost intensified at that statement, daring Elder to back down but Elder continued "Cut off from emotion...from people...from the world...spending every day as if it were your last because you wish it was...unfrightened, almost welcoming death's cold embrace. Despairing your own existence." Elder shook his head "I don't want to be like that...any man who despairs his own existence...is a coward...and that is something i am not. Emotion is a part of life, good or bad...It is always there and no matter how long you run from it...it will always catch up. That's why you need friends, to help you through the dark times...but when your emotions catch up to you...who will you have, Black wanderer?"

He returned to staring at the floor, letting his hair cover his face, awaiting the icey reply he was to get.

*Crack*

Metal waited a while before replying, his emotins that usually lay dormant began to swirl in a confused mesh, he felt angry, sorrow and the desire to burst out laughing at Elder, due to the over load of emotions Metal simply closed his eyes and thought about an answer once he again opponed his eyes to revial a stare that chilled even the brave Elder to the bone.

From his lips came words thta brough forth his once confussed emotions the hate anger and sorrow seemed to spill out of his mouth with each word. " ... Everyone who would have stood by me is either dead or gone, I don't need anyone but my sword arm and do you know why?"

Metal didn't evn give time for the boy to speak and carried on a hint of amusment entered his voice and it rose slightly in volume "Because in this life if you hold something dear enough it will be ripped from your arms and used aginst you, MY Freinds, MY family anyone and evryone I cared about died abd I had to sit and watch it all ... you say emotion is part of life, in your logic that means there is good to balance out the bad"

Metal's voice again rose by this time many in the library had turned their heads to see the commotion but dared not interupt the Wanderer who was obviously mad with anger yet also laughing somewhat, from a normal point of view it would look like he was going insane. " Tehn where is my good? 17 years I have lived. What is there for my balance, I watched my family and tribe burn, been fed to the outcasts by these Thor forsaken son's of Nifel" Metal guestured to the many hooligans in the room who looked away or prtended they were doing work "The outcasts, bunch of filthy Jotuns what they did to me in their is forbidden even in Nifelheim, and then to top it all off I watched as the last of those who would even trusst me with their swords burned at the destruction of the merderous mountains when we drove back the Romans"

Metal realised he had beeen shouting for a while and returned his voice to a whisper "So ... Bloodcloak ... do not talk to me about being a coward, do not talk to me about having nobody beside me, I had my chnaces I lost them and now I sail in different waters to you, waters filled with the blood of my foes and the hatred that drives me" Metal sighed and passed Elder a book bound in red leather from the shelf next to him "Read it"

Small Push Forward

((Waiting on Josh, but he's taking a while (can't blame him; the amount of work we've dumped on him is just-). I'll just write a little bit, more to Jarret...and to put a small link.))

Magnus was about 2-3 inches taller than Jarret, not to mention much more built in musculature. To compare him against the Berk Watch member was fair and rather fine, but to compare him against Aylen was just...a big...no, HUGE difference.

And yet, here was the male Gryfforson, pushing the two along with almost no effort. Possibly because the two were down to almost no resistance, but heck, he was doing it.

"That table over there seems fine," he suggested, glancing towards the general centre of the library when a raised voice reverberated across its corners. "Glad that wasn't me."

As they walked, he attempted to see whose voice it was, by taking in whatever views he could get through the staggered gaps of the bookshelves. He managed to spot two figures, one with his arm propped close to his body, while the other sported a long black cloak. The cloak arrested his attention, causing him to slow down in his steps, halting in the aisle between two shelves.

If it wasn't the cloak that caught his attention, it was the eyes that did. Although it couldn't be clearly seen, Jarret saw the intensity of a glare that was blazing in the cloaked figure's stone-cold eyes. That glare spoke of untold anger, hatred, depair...all the negative emotions he could think of at his current thinking capacity.

...He'd seen those eyes before.

'Well, well...' he felt a chuckle beginning to rumble in his chest. 'I never thought I'd see this day...'

More tears!

((Hey so I don't really know what the idea for the plot is at this point, but if it involves a conflict with some faraway land or really any news that could be shared by Adaryn to the Headmaster, I'd love to help in "kicking off" the plot so to speak :) If there's nothing in that regard, Adaryn's breakdown can be attributed to spending a stormy night on a rock in the middle of the sea with no sleep))

Recognition dawned on the Headmaster's face when he saw Adaryn. "Ah! There you are. We were worried when you didn't arrive yesterday. Were you caught up in the storm as well?"

Adaryn nodded enthusiastically. "Yes, it stopped us from reaching the island. We had to wait it out on an..." Adaryn suddenly found she couldn't talk anymore. She gulped and soldiered on. "On an-" She blinked hard. Her face contorted. Then, to everyone's confusion, she burst into tears.

The Headmaster shot Alki a baffled look and tried to console the teenage girl. "Is this about being a day late? Because if so, we really don't mind. All you missed was Archiving and Self Defense...." But Adaryn just continued to sob. Kalira made a sound of dismay and nuzzled her rider with her large head.

((Poor Adaryn and Elder! There's a lot of crying in SoD at the moment!!))

((This current chapter is more of a long introductory piece for all the new people. So it will be small things, going from class to class, meeting each other, rekindling old and new friendships, learning things, having some fun. The next chapter will be something really big, but I'm not about to reveal it yet. Just take my word for it - it's gonna be good. Huge, even. Major.

If I were you, and in fact, this goes for everyone, I'd start interacting with other roleplayers. A roleplay is a co-op, you can't just go out on your own the whole time. Sure, the occasional monologue is okay for certain situations, for instance when your character is just entering the story, or re-entering, or perhaps reliving a flashback.))

Thorin, Bolt, and the farm

((Alright I hope this is ok, this happened before the headmaster appeared in elsewhere in the school))

The headmaster escorted Thorin and his companion through the twisting path, he told the story of the student who previously lived on the plot of land, one who had perished in a battle not to long ago, he spoke the name, but the name now eluded Thorin's mind. The headmaster had left the two to explore their new home, Thorin looked around the farm who's ground was still scarred by garden tools “Well... I guess this will do” Thorin said as he turned to his dragon who patiently waited beside him “Not as good as the cove, Eh?” he continued, the Skrill let out a gurgle having no idea what that meant, but agreed anyways. The pair, slowly walked up to the old wooden house, the house looked as if someone was still living in it, clothes where still on the drying line, the weather having dulled the colours of the woven cloth. “Alright I guess I should get those bags off of you” Thorin walked over to the bags that hung over the seemingly un-strained dragon. He slid his dagger blade under the rope and pulled upwards sending the bags to the ground, any iron content in the bags ringing as they knocked into each other withing the burlap bags. “Alright, you can have a break, I will call you back here in a few hours” with that Thorin shooed the skrill into the air.

With Thorin's dragon gone, Thorin could finally get to exploring the school, The streets where still crowded with students having left their classes early, he weaved through the main street where hours earlier they had arrived. Thorin's eyes darted around the unfamiliar faces trying to find someone he knew before agreeing to join the school, but to no avail no faces caught his attention, I should have stayed in berk... Thorin thought to himself as he made his way to one of the benches at the side of the path.

((You may interact with Thorin now if you like))

Hmmm

Alki had no idea what to do. He looked to the Headmaster who just shrugged his shoulders, as confused as Alki. 'What to do? What to do?' He asked himself. The Headmaster sent away the nosey students who were investigating the scene. Alki shook his head and spoke, trying to seem as harmless as possible, "Hey, erm, you shouldn't cry. You're safe and there is no reason to cry. Please don't cry. I don't even really know you, but... I don't know where I was going with this."

He glanced over to the Headmaster, but he was answering the question of one of the students, and was fully absorbed in that. He returned his gaze back to the girl, opened up his arms, and said, "Do you, by chance, want a hug?.. I'm sorry if I'm just making it worse. I'm not really good with this sort of thing..."

Uh

((Your usage of the words 'street' and 'streets' kinda made me start pondering about the school structure.. Would we call the pathways streets, actually? Just curious, nothing more; I tend to think of shopping districts whenever the word 'street' is used for a school campus context XD Sorry, I'm just nuts.

Suddenly I wish someone could draw up a map of the school premises - the caldera - so there's ease of knowing what and who goes where. But meh, that's just a suggestion. Ha.. Haha..))

That's one thing..

((Okay, I'll get to work on the mass PM when I get home. Then after all the discussions thingamabobs, Shadow can draft up the maps and maybe post it in a separate RP-related thread for the others to see. From there, those who weren't PMed can then notify us where their houses, farms etc would like to be located; Shadow will follow-up by including those location choices into the hardcopy draft, and post up the "finalised" maps in the thread again. The maps will update when new chapters call for its necessity, so...Shadow, that makes you our cartographer :P Hoorah, we have an archivist and a cartographer! XD))

in which I am a huge nerd

((Hey so uh this is super weird and nerdy and only kind of related to the map thing but here we go

So I'm not exactly an expert in economics but I was kinda thinking about Berk in terms of trading capabilities -- it's a pretty small island with a pretty small population and seemingly very little arable land, so in order to obtain metals (to make things like weapons, as there aren't any mines on Berk), crops like wheat, and other items they can't produce, they need to be able to trade. Its main industries, in the movie, seem to be fishing and sheep (wool/textiles). They might have also traded dragon body parts (gross, but probably realistic). Then, with the whole "dragons are our friends!" thing and the creation of SoD, suddenly the majority of the young adult population of Berk (which would normally be doing a lot of the fishing/sheep-tending) was busy at school. Also, they would lose any dragon body part trading industry they had. Higher learning is important, but not as important as food and trade, and dragons can only help so much in that regard. Suddenly Berk's economy sucks and there's not enough of anything to go around -- ahh! In order to solve this crisis, the Headmaster grands every student a plot of land somewhere in the caldera (as it turns out, the caldera has a lot better soil and is generally better for farming than Berk). This sort of feudal-ish system gives the students a source of income and keeps Berk's agricultural productivity up to snuff. Also farms are pretty fun to decorate. In the game, Trader Johann is chilling at your farm all the time, but he'd probably only come during harvest season in reality (because plants actually take kind of a long time to grow -- surprise, surprise!). So, that was my long, horrifyingly nerdy explanation for farms in SoD. If it's factually incorrect, has already been said, or is just plain dumb, I apologize.

Also, apparently Berk has discovered the Americas because they have crops like corn and tomatoes that didn't exist in Europe until the Columbian Exchange. Whoops. Well, I guess we can let it slide because dragons didn't exactly exist either, haha))

((I've been drawing maps forever - I love it! Usually simplistic stuff, but I can be rather detailed too.

And they likely haven't discovered America (though there's plenty of evidence to suggest the Vikings were  the first Europeans to do so), they simply received the seeds and crops from trade and found that they can grow them.

I have an idea already for the layout of farms and such. Been thinking about ti since it came up, actually.

Also, as for metals, some they would have to trade for but I feel they have iron deposits on the island. For one thing, Meatlug was just eating random rocks and produced Gronkle Iron, aka steel which needs iron as the base. Plus, all the weapons and tools Gobber makes, there's no way they'd be able to trade for ALL the iron needed for it. Sure, they'd likely reuse old tools, melting down stuff they don't use or that is broken. But the sheer quantity of production hints at iron deposits on the island. You don't need mines to get iron all the time. The mountainous geography of the island itself would easily reveal deposits.))

Truth

((Good point! That gronckle metal is quality stuff. You're very right about the metal deposits -- I hadn't really thought about it all the way through. I think I need to start watching the tv show religiously in order to keep up with all the new info! :)

My brain is stuck in AP World zone (where we're reading about the Columbian exchange), so I apologize for my weird issues with anachronisms. A few days ago, while watching Troy (with Brad Pitt, yum) I spotted a llama in a marketplace scene and shouted "LLAMAS DIDN'T COME TO EURASIA UNTIL AFTER THE COLUMBIAN EXCHANGE" at the screen. I admit, have a problem. I guess the lesson I should take away from this is that a game targeted towards children about dragons shouldn't be analyzed so deeply for historical accuracy.

Also, maps are great. I'm so excited to see the finished product. I really meant to just say that, but my issues with history sort of hiijacked this post. Many apologies.

Also, would it be possible for a thread to be created that just has all the info for the RP in it? Like maps, summaries, and other reference materials, just so it's all in one place and easy to find. I can't remember if someone's suggested it before... sorry if I'm repeating anything, lol

So sorry about all this guys, I'm literally brand new and just butting in on everything... forgive me))

((About the info thread idea- I think it was brought up before, but so far hasn't been implemented. It would certainly be nice. Could be posts for each thing - summary of the story so far, maps, school/classes information, etc.

And there's nothing wrong with being historically accurate. Last chapter, I ended up spending hours figuring out how long it would take a metal cast for a Nadder wing to cool, and also researched the name and origin of the crucible in order to create a Scandinavian name for it, which I then proceeded to use about 3 times and never again.))

Oh, hey there Thorin!

Isabo got instantly bored when her brother left, so she decided to wander around and investigate the school a bit more. Walking outside, she noticed a boy she saw earlier, riding a Skrill, for Thor's sake! She started to approach him, but chikened out in the last moment, 'what if he called his dragon? I could be blown to bits!' She wasn't able to get very far away because of her dragon, who calmly waddled up to him and investigated him, head to foot, unaware of any possible danger. Isabo hissed at the dragon, while signaling to get away. Abort mission! Abort! Her dragon looked at her and chirped laughing-like.

'Uh-oh. You stupid beast! Now he know's I'm here.' She looked around for some way to escape, but inhaled deeply as she noticed no easy way of leaving; so she walked up and fake smiled. Then she grabbed her dragon's harness, and carefully turned around and started walking away.

((yeah, I am late for Elder! T_T))

((So err... hi Isabo... and Thorin!))

The school day had ended, so obviously, Inna had nothing to do. She wandered around the school, obviously having no idea what she's doing, and that, was a plan for the rest of the day. Though soonly, it started to get so boring she decidet to go for the first person she actually saw (Isabo, k?).

It was a girl, with olive colored skin, and curly, brown hair. Next to her, was a dark silver dragon, with spines black as night, and white underbelly. Inna decidet to give this a shot.

"Wow! Did your hair get electrified or somethin'?" She asked in a friendly, cheerfull tone, with no signs of ridiculing.

---

((Nooow, I have no idea what to write as Ismey, obviously, she's still stuck in the library... so... yeah. Still, gunna write somethin' with her too! :3))

Ismey watched the sibilings leaving the room, and ignored the last note from Jarret. She had gotten what she wanted, and it was great... and bad. ((Cuz for the first time in foreveeer (or in the, last few yeeears), Ismey actually spoke to someone fair 'n' honest! :3))

She sighed, and returned to her table.

Curiosity and the dragon.

((Remember the skrill is on his break, so thorin will take offence to that.))

"What is it's name?" Thorin chuckled as the girl carted away her dragon, she turned and before she could respond another voice broke through "Wow! Did your hair get electrified or somethin'?" Another student exclaimed as she motioned to the girl who stood in front of Thorin. "Real mature... It is not me who has the electrifying personality, that one is on his break" Thorin said as he glanced at the two girls.

Elder took the book from the

Elder took the book from the angry black wanderer and met his fiery gaze with one of his own. He took another deep breath. "There is ALWAYS good to balance out the bad" This time it was Elder's voice that began to rise "You're just so consumed by sorrow that you refuse to see it!" Elder rose from his seat and his dragons (who had retreated to another corner of the library once Metal had started shouting) flew onto his shoulders and growled at Metal in defense of Elder. "The sooner you stop confining yourself to solidarity, the sooner you will be accepted by these people. Now see some sense...or i will beat some sense into you."

you just sealed ypur fate

Metal kicked the table from which he sat behind with great force hitting Elder's imjured arm dead on, the dragons either side of Elder almost went for him but his fierce Icy gaze shot them down and stoped them dead in their tracks, at this moment he had the eyes of a very dangerous predator and slowly he hissed

"IF I must come to my senses then sureley you must wake up ... this is real life, not some fantasy land there isn't always good in this life, I have searched and I have hoped and when, from through this darkness with which I walked I found something to hold on to, it too is now gone ... There is not a thinmg left in this world to make up for the things I have done, so go ahead preach your selfrichous Gronckle dung to these mindless hooligans ..."

Metal walked closer to Elder and grabbed him by the collar and pulled him close, he had incapacitated his arm and wouldn't be able to do anything to Metal, softly and menacingly he spoke "... But don't you DARE preach that Gronckle dung to me until you have had atleast the smallest idea of what I have been through. Metal finally giving up on the lump of meat let go of him and put the table back where it belonged with a short kick and returned to his seat.

Apparently there's such a thing as "going too far"

Elder stood and resisted the stabs of pain in his arm. He gave Metal a fiery look and walked away followed by his dragons, who hissed at Metal before flying to join him. Once he was behind a bookcase, hidden from Metal's sight, he leaned against it and let the pain take him. He stood there and gritted his teeth as he put his arm back into the leather strap (it had loosened when the table hit it) Lif and Bani both licked his face. "Guys, i'll be fine" he flashed a smile at the dragons which disappeared as quickly as it had arrived. He walked around the library, looking for a table away from the vicious shadow of a man sitting in the corner.

As he paced the library he noticed some familiar faces sat at a table in another corner of the library. The student teacher from archiving class Still don't know her name, the stocky guy from self-defense ermm...Magus...Madness...Magnus! And another stocky man, who he had never seen before. He decided to walk over and say hi. At this point he needed a friendly face.

Twelve hours, as promised.

((Okay, I’m back. On the one hand, I like to have lots of material to write with. On the other hand, sometimes I wait too long and something IRL comes up that just keeps me from getting to it. Anyways, here we go. Let’s get this plot in motion!))

Being stuck in the middle (or even off to one side) of Jarret and Aylen’s “discussion” had become increasingly awkward, and Jarret’s interactions with Ismey raised more than a few questions, but Magnus knew that now was not the time to sate his curiosity so he kept his mouth shut. When prompted toward an empty table he walked toward it with no small amount of relief, but paused and turned around when the guiding hand on his back was removed. Relief went fluttering away like a flock of spooked birds when he saw what, or rather who, Jarret was staring at - it was the pair from the self-defense battle ring, Metal and Elder.

Magnus was about to dismiss the stare and keep moving, as people like that tend to attract attention by nature, but his ears caught a soft, knowing chuckle coming from Jarret’s direction. Oh, boy. Question #376 - how in Thor’s name does Jarret know Elder and Metal? Too many questions… “Hey, uh, Jarret? The table’s right here… are you going to join us?” Magnus motioned toward the empty table in a relatively quiet corner of the library, hoping to avoid getting embroiled in yet another conflict that seemed to be brewing between the two young men seated across from each other. He knew how volatile the Black Wanderer was, and Jarret appeared only slightly less so.

---------------------------------------

The baby Nightmare explored Hammerstein with every bit of intense curiosity he’d directed at Maceforge, snuffing his boots, crawling under his bearfur cape, curiously nosing his leather belt. “Haha, never seen a person before? You must be REALLY young, little guy!” Hammerstein chuckled when the little dragon hopped up onto his chest, trying to sniff his hair and knocking him over backwards in the process. “Hey, you’re heavier than you look!” The small reptile let out a confused gurgling chirp, and Hammerstein found himself staring into a pair of wide, innocent-looking yellow peepers. Reminds me of when I found Mace in the forest… Those adorable little Nightmare eyes!

The moment was interrupted by a shrill whistle piercing the air, and the little greyish-tan Nightmare scurried over to the edge of the sea stack, looking for the source of the sound. Hammerstein got up and, dusting himself off, saw a person on the main island that he recognized. Hey, it’s Briarwolf! I haven’t seen her since we got back from the storm… The baby Nightmare reared up and screeched in her direction, but turned around with a pleading gurgle and looked at Hammerstein. “You probably can’t fly yet, can you, little guy?” The dragon dipped his head a bit and took a step toward him. “Well, I think I can help with that. Hey, Mace! Let’s get this little guy back where he belongs.” He reached down and picked up the baby reptile, who promptly scampered up onto his shoulders.

Maceforge, having determined that Alyssa’s Nadder wasn’t a threat, had laid his head down and was attempting to take a nap when he was awoken by his trainer. He grumbled a bit about having to get up, but stalked over to where Hammerstein had picked up the little lizard and lowered his neck for the young man to get on. “It was nice to meet you, Allyssa,” Hammerstein said to the quiet girl who’d been watching the events unfold. “I’ll see you around the school!” With that, Maceforge spread his wings and launched off the stone pillar, gliding over to the cliff where Briarwolf was anxiously waiting for her baby dragon and gently landing beside her.

“Hey, Briarwolf!” Hammerstein said cheerfully as he hopped off his dragon. “Haven’t seen you in awhile.” Before he could say anything more, the not-so-monstrous Nightmare wrapped around his shoulders took a flying leap for its trainer, pushing him backwards into the side of his own dragon. “Haha, looks like someone’s happy to see you. When did you get a dragon?”

Briarwolf caught Stormfalcon when he leaped at her, giving him a subtle hug while he nuzzled her. She looked over at Hammerstein, at first seeming wary but quickly warming up. She at least knew who he was, and despite their initial confrontation, he hadn't tried to kill her yet. Or worse.

"Thanks for helping him over here," she said in her typical quiet voice, "I found his egg on a mountain. His mother died, so I'm all he had." She swallowed, setting the little dragonling down so he could go get some fish from her stores. Unsure of what to do, and completely avoiding the other human's eyes, she shifted her weight a little.

"Er...how..ah...how have you and Maceforge been," she asked warily, not sure if small talk was really the best thing for the moment. Ever since...the events...she had had a lot of trouble talking with people about minor things.

---------

Stormfalcon scampered into Mother's den, easily locating the fish. He dug in, filling himself up on tiny herring. Once full, which didn't take long at all, he looked out at Mother and the creature-like-Mother. Mother seemed uncomfortable... Why was that? Could he help? Probably not. But there was something else he could do, though it likely wouldn't help Mother. He snuffled through the fish until he found the largest one there - a huge halibut. Gripping it carefully, he stumbled over to the larger Nightmare and laid it down, gurgling that it was his gift...

Exciting stuff

((Thanks for clarifying the plot stuff! I'll get working on the "socializing" bit ^^))

Adaryn nodded pathetically and hugged Alki tightly, still shaking with sobs. After a long, awkward embrace, she pulled back and scrubbed at eyes. "I'm s-sorry," she hiccuped. "We had to spend the night on a tiny rock in the middle of the sea and it was cold and dark and I didn't get any sleep..." she realized that she was rambling, took a deep breath, and started again. Her voice was finally sounding more even. "I'm just glad I'm home. I'll be fine..." She shuffled her feet and added a little sheepishly, "Sorry for breaking down like that."

"That's quite alright," The Headmaster said, relieved that the issue had been resolved so quickly and painlessly. He shot Alki a grateful glance, then turned back to Adaryn. "Now, down to business. I believe Alki has the schedule for the classes for the year. I suggest you examine it and determine which you want to take. There's no signup, just arrive at the class on time on the first day. I believe you've only missed archiving and self-defense so far... any interest in taking those?"

Adaryn shook her head vigorously. "No, not really." She was still practically illiterate and had nearly lost a few fingers the last time she attempted sparring -- she'd probably only make a fool out of herself in those classes.

"In that case, just make sure you're on time to the classes you want to take tomorrow," said the Headmaster. "I should get back to archery now. I'm sure I'll see you around very soon." With that, he returned to his students.

Just as Adaryn opened her mouth to speak to Alki, the Headmaster turned to say one final thing:

"Oh, and Alki -- make sure she gets a copy of the Brief History! She has a lot to catch up on!"

((ayyyyyy so on this chapter of "Spirit1998 is really ignorant", I don't know if that's how the classes go at all... I tried to go off of previous posts but I'm probably horribly wrong. If attendance is mandatory for all classes, Adaryn just missed a day I guess. Many apologies!))

Nah..

((Attendance isn't mandatory; I mean, Magnus just waltzed into Archiving class without prior thinking save for keeping himself away from the conflict in the Main Hall. XD))

Well, back to school.

After watching rider and dragon take off, Allyssa climbed onto Tempest. "Time to go back buddy," she told her dragon. Tempest grumbled unhappily, but did what she was told and headed back to the school.

((Possible classes: Dragon Care 101, Dragon Care 201, Dragon Riding 101 (ground based), Dragon Riding 201 (glide based), Dragon Riding 301 (flight based), Science, Archiving, Reading & Writing, Wilderness Survival 101, Wilderness Survival 201, Fishing 101, Self Defence, History, Farming 101, Farming 201, Dragon Training 101, 201, and 301 (baby, adolescent, adult). All I can think of atm. I think the "101"s should all be mandatory, and likely every day or every other day. So Dragon care, dragon riding, wilderness survival, fishing, farming, and dragon training. Then, of course, there would be certain voluntary career stuff, like sailing, blacksmithing, etc through mentorships, assuming they have permission first.))

((I'm not saying those are set in stone - it's not my roleplay, I was just suggesting them. But I figure whomever teaches Archiving would likely teach Reading & Writing as well. Since both are rather literacy-based and not many Vikings would be qualified or willing to teach it.))

Isabo looked at the newcomer, and smiled, forgetting her situation for a minute, "Nah, it's always like this," she grabbed a clump of her hair and investigated it, making sure she was correct. Then, she remembered her situation and returned her hazel eyes back to Thorin. She spoke, angrily patting her dragon on the head, "Oh, hello complete stranger. This Deadly Nadder is Aroara, my companion and friend." She looked cautiously around one last time to make sure the Skrill was gone. She exhaled happily in relief and dropped the harness, letting her dragon go. Giving the dragon a stare/glare that told her not to venture too far, in case there was trouble and she needed a quick escape... Even if it meant flying.

Alki nodded to the headmaster, and said comfortingly, "Well, let's not bother the Headmaster anymore, he's clearly stressed. Anyways, I heard there were still some copies left in the Great Hall. I'll meet you there and get Gobber to give you a copy of that amazing book." He smiled and waved to the Headmaster in good-bye, and let her round up her dragon to go. When she was ready, he started jogging the winding path back to school, carefully watching her in case of any problem. Maybe they could go to the Libary afterwards, and she could attempt to read the mammoth of book in peace. Well, everyone who was hiding from the Headmaster most likely had moved on to their next class.

There was a long pause after the girl finished her sentence, Isabo looked awkwardly at the ground and twiddled her thumbs together "I'm Thorin, and you are?..." He said as he stretched his hand out towards the uncomfortable girl, her dragon eying his hand suspiciously as if it would lunge and tear into the hand's flesh at any movement.

...Awkward character is awkward...

Isabo looked at his hand, and said awkwardly, "er, I'm Isabo. It's, um, nice to meet you Thorin." She grasped his hand, and shook it. She carefully let go of his hand, and looked for her brother, hoping he could relieve some tension. He was still nowhere to be seen. Sighing quietly she returned to Thorin and spoke surprisingly calm, "does this make us friend-"

Upon hearing the word 'friend,' (and only hearing that one word) Aroaora raced over to her rider and nuzzled Isabo's hand with big eyes, expecting a token of friendship. When no treat appeared immediately, she looked at Thorin accusingly, and snorted angrily. She only calmed down when Isabo finally pulled out a little bit of dragon nip from her satchel and gave it to the creature. Just for good measures, the dragon laid down protectively at her rider's feet, watching the unfamiliar male. Isabo looked down at the spikey reptile at her feet, then looked back to Thorin helplessly.

((I promise you, Aroara isn't bi-polar, just very demanding. Especially, if treats are involved.))

Never... writting... long... flashbacks... again...

"Electrified personality? I know a few beasts with THAT gift!" Inna exclaimed. Despite this all, she still stayed friendly, and calm... more or less...

Flashback

The battle mark- a scar on Inna’s sisters- Ismey’s face, still reminded her of the day she had gotten both of them in great danger. Inna hated her, but even she had to admit, that Ismey didn’t deserve all the hatred she was given, and even more because, if it hadn’t been for her sister to come in the right time- Inna would have been fried to death. And for some reason, Inna didn’t think that Odin had reserved a place for her in Valhalla.

It was a sunny day in the Artheas main village. Or at least it was, for the snowy island she was living in. You wouldn’t exactly call it summer. Since snow was still thickly covering most of the ground, but not winter either, since a few peaces of mud we’re on Inna’s boots. Inna even spotted a few rivers that we’re not all frozen, and, in very rare places, a bit of grass. It made her happy, though she wasn’t exactly the summer kind of child.

But what made her even more glad, was that the elders spoke, that it was time for Skrills to come, at last! Of course, they came every year, but now, that Inna had killed her first dragon- the mighty Thunderdrum, as people called it, she finally thought, of proving the village, that she has it in her. Or at least that’s what Irina said.

“Inna- you can’t be as useless as I think you are! The Skrills are about to come- kill one, and the village will accept you.” Irina had said in a sweet tone. Like she had eaten way too much honey or something. Because the last time Inna remembered her speaking so nice to her, was when she was trying to convince her to jump off a cliff, because appearantly. She though Inna would be as stupit as that, to do it. And when Inna refused, Irina glanced with an ice cold look, and called her a coward.

Too bad Inna didn’t care.

Inna had rolled her eyes. “I don’t think so, the village will never accept me like they do to Ismey, in this case- we’re on the same ship, though since you are YOU, I think we might have to take a boat. I don’t think anyone would want to build a ship for you…”

“Watch it- brat!” Irina had hissed, though after a moment, she was back to the sweet tone. “Why would you simply think so? But enough of that-“

“Because you’re doing right about everything to get them to love you! Really! Your so sweet by making them sweat they’re backs, in order to make you and Ismey a statue, and of course, don’t forget that you we’re the one that fired the Librarian, which was loved by the villagers very much! Oh- and, you also closed the Hall gates, during the Freeze, so around fifty villagers got frozen to death! And you kept they’re bodies as a reward. I once even spotted you talking to them!” Inna exclaimed. And Irina blushed.

“But if you’re trying to convince me to go out for a Skrill, you may be as crazy as I thought- but still, I think that, if it’s someone like me to go out for one, I have chances!” Inna told and Irina almost started to laugh like crazy.

“Well speaked, Inna!” She smiled. “Now go for it!” Irina said.

“Shut up! I am not some kind of a dog or anything!” Inna exclaimed, but went for the Skrill allready anyway.

The young Blackaik was searching in a forest, and only then she realized how hard it was to find one. Actually, it would be impossible to, if it hadn’t decidet to show up himself. It seemed like the dragons knew how to annoy her too, because each time she noticed a shadow laying somewhere, it disappeared right after she had looked up.

She spent an hour, then two, then three, four! Five! Six! Seven! And the skies we’re already pitch black. It seemed strange how the stars didn’t show up, but soonly, she realized that the clouds have appeared…

…Just great!

Inna sighed. So this is how it’s supposed to go? She knew the way back, but…how was she supposed to find the right track with such dark around and no stars at all? The only thing she had in mind: the Thunder Meadow! And trust me- even the elders themselves didn’t knew why the Hel did they had called it so, because a “Rainbow Meadow” would perhaps be even more fitting. But her sister, never decided to change it’s name, and it annoyed Inna, but what could she wish? Ismey was pretty close with elders! So, she actually spent a bit more time with them, listening to old tales, rather than going out with her sister, and making up they’re own tales. But knowing Ismey and her cold behavior, which only became worse during the days, and melted during a (yet another) story that was told. Indeed- she was more of a winter, and books child!

When Inna told her (as the leader of the village) to change the name of the grassy field for the first time, Ismey glanced and said:

“Every legend has a bit of truth in it”

“Don’t tell me you’re going to tell me an old fairytale come up by a few old grand mothers!” Inna yawned.

“No! You should have gotten the point! Or perhaps I should explain it a bit more clear: The title is true, and it stays as a sign of warning!” She hissed.

“Says a girl who heard that from a crazy old man?” Inna dared to ask. “Oh, well, that just makes it way more clear.”

She only heard- yes- literally a hiss from Ismey’s side. And that was how most of they’re conversations about this topic ended, so Inna decided, that it would be a bit smarter to not say anything at all. And that’s just what she did.

But even so- it sounded pretty crazy to go for it, considering that it was the “Thunder” meadow, but Skrill breathed lightning, not thunder, besides the dragon was the reason she had first come here, right?

A five minutes walk, and she was here. She had a sharpened battle sword with her, which she: surprisingly could hold pretty well.

She saw a few logs around that had stayed here from the last Thawest games.

But just then, she noticed that she wasn’t the only person here, which should have been nice- but it wasn’t. Because the creature could fly. And even more- it was the Legendary Skrill.

At first it did nothing- just watched Inna with it’s yellowish golden eyes. And she did the same. Then the dragon started to walk closer, but now, Inna did nothing.

And at last, she got a full view of it. It had lost or hadn’t received it’s bright purple (or really rarely- but possible- blue) colors, so it was pure silver with bright yellow eyes.

Inna didn’t knew wheter it meant that the dragon is young, or old, but she didn’t realy see much difference in it. Except for the love of Odin! The dragon was huge!

A LOT bigger than an adult Typhoomerang, even though Inna was ready to bet that a fully grown Skrill should be a little bigger than a Nadder. THAT would have been a Skrill she would have MAYbe chances on, but THIS, was a mutant, or God knows what!

One chance: RUN! That would be if only there were not a few freaking logs in her way that had to stop her and make her fall.

“FREAKING DAGGUR’S BOOTSTBGHNUIKUDNJG HDFJGBEFHVJ!” She tried to  scream out the swear she had come up with Dagur when they we’re still allies, but couldn’t finish it as the Skrill roared her in face and touched with it’s tail. “Arejvgbdh erg Jfsdnvdhjsb fggjhy fthvygh! (My head you overgrown reptile!)” Inna yelled.

The Skrill didn’t seem too surprised, so Inna has sure she wasn’t the first one to get shocked like this.

But appearantly, the Skrill was Alvin  The Trencharous (or however do you pronounce it?) with a bit prettier face so it wouldn’t stop unless it gets what it wants.

Another strike of lightning from it’s gigantic mouth- way bigger than the previous one, and she’d have died.

And so, came the hero of the year- Ismey. Inna could’ve sworn that she had heard a battle music appearing.

It started raining. As in, really raining. And then, lightning striked.

“Why did you come here?” Ismey asked loudly while taking Inna’s longsword.

“Adryecvycvewhuegcdh!” (To enjoy the nice ‘n’ calm night!) Inna answered. As if it helped.

“What the? Oh… that makes it harder… Try to move!” Inna shrugged her shoulders and tryed to get up, but her legs we’re not doing anything, and just stayed on the ground.

“Adees?” (Ismeeey?) I said in fear.

Ismey told calmly: “Pretend to be dead, it won’t do a lot, but if I am next to him, your scent will be blown away… The shock paralyzed you! For a little while!”

“Avrekygtrwvr bfsdkjded hfbasdnkj brfh fbjhsna!” (Betrayed by my own legs!) Inna muttered in a grumpy tone.

“SHUT UP! The Skrill is back on it’s toes!”

“Ogrgr? Urbfybcedkjed uhh ychbehchds dubyhef yerb? Ades? ADES!?!” (Oh? And what are you planning to do now?...Ismey? ISMEY!?!) Inna yelled. The dragon was right next to her sister.

With a single scratch of it’s tail. Her face- from her eyebrow to chin was blooding like Hel. It looked even more freaky considering that her face was unnaturally pale. Mey screamed out a howl… and started to cry.

Honestly, Inna would be more surprised if the Skrill started randomly dancing with a pair of glasses on his eyes, with rainbows and unicorns next to him. Because for as long as Inna could remember, Ismey hadn’t cried since… well… forever!

And even when she did, she never cried in front of anyone else, besides herself. She kept the tears as her own business. So it was no surprise that Inna knew the smallest of her. Even Irina knew her better!

If it wasn’t for Inna to remind her sister that she always takes poison with her, both would’ve died, the very same night. But luckily, she did.

Ismey took out her most strongest poison. And it stinked, really bad. Ismey had created it purely by herself. It was blue oliender (lol, how do you pronounce that?) liquid with a little bit of eel taste. Technically, your supposed to give it to the dragon, and it will get sick. The rest will be easy: kill him with whatever you have and voila! Your dragon is dead. Except maybe… how do you give it to him. That’s where they got stuck… And Inna’s advice would not help, either, because of obvious reasons.

No time to waste…

“Drink! DRINK! DRINK I SAID!” Ismey yelled trying to give Skrill the poison. It seemed like the smell was keeping it away. But Mey had no choice but to kill him anyway.

Ismey still had Inna’s longsword on, she wasn’t at all skilled in fighting with it. Well, now she had to. She hit it’s tail, so it seemed like it hurt. It wasn’t completely down, but enough for the Skrill to do just what Ismey wanted.

To scream, her in face.

“Ew, do you ever brush your teeth?” She asked and filled it’s mouth with the poison. “Well, you won’t have to worry about that now!”

Thorin looked at Isabo with a glint in his sea coloured eyes, a crooked smile crossed his face "yea, we are going to be best friends for ever and ever" his voice dropped to the lowest it could go "Forever!" He paused and kept his composure as a confused expression crossed Isabo's face, "Joking!" He said with a chuckle "I would call it 'acquaintances' more than friends at the moment" with that he stuck two fingers in his mouth and whistled two tones in succession, within seconds the Skrill appeared out of the clouds and landed beside the bench. He was quick to mount the saddled dragon " I'll see you around"

Ismey sighed as she heard loud noise. Again. She walked by the two persons that didn't seem to be going toghether well, she even spotted a Wanderer, but tried to go emotionless about it, but she could barely hide her suprise. Ismey hissed.

"This isn't a fair fight, Wanderer! But if you still feel like beating up a ten times weaker opponent, I'd appreciate if you could do your business outside this place, because I don't want to see blood spilled, or at least not yet!"

Ismey watched the other guy limping away and suddenly felt sorry for him. "You sure you we're not too harsh? It's a big deal to get nuts with a Wanderer, so, he maybe wasn't as bad in fighting as I possibly thought..." She said.

A wild Adaryn appeared!

((The class ideas are great!! If only my school had those... Also I'm loving the Pokemon references))

After Alki started down the path, Adaryn turned to Kalira and those few moments of solitude to compose herself completely. "I'm not going to cry again," she said firmly, and swung herself into the saddle. They flew slowly, taking their time so they didn't overtake Alki. "Where's his dragon?" Adaryn wondered out loud. If the librarian had one, he hadn't mentioned it. Adaryn wondered if it would be wise to ask. The few diplomacy lessons she'd taken hadn't covered this.

They landed in front of the Great Hall just moments before Alki arrived. "So what's in this book, exactly?" Adaryn asked as she swung down from the saddle. "Is it just the story of Hiccup and the Seadragonus Maximus? Because I already know all about that...."

((Poor Adaryn doesn't know what she's missed XD))
