Stormfalcon! CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!
((Regarding my delay, I have only five words: new episodes of “White Collar”. Their writing team seems to have mastered the art of the cliffhanger… Ahem. Anyway. Where were we?))

"'Ancient Myths and Legends'... Huh. I'm pretty sure my parents used to read that to me when I was little, but I don't do a whole lot of reading now. I don't have the patience for it like my brother Magnus does," Hammerstein ended with a small chuckle. "He's really something else..."

Alyssa was spared from more of Hammerstein's rambling by a high-pitched screech and a soft thump, followed by the sounds of claws scrabbling for grip on rock. "What in Odin's name was that?" The young man turned around in time to see a small grey-and-tan muzzle peek over the edge of the stone pillar's grassy top, followed promptly by the rest of a similarly colored baby Nightmare. "Oh... hey little guy, whatcha doin'?"

The small dragon paid Hammerstein no heed, and made a beeline for a slightly uncomfortable Maceforge as fast as his uncoordinated little wings and legs could carry him. The larger dragon shied away a bit, prompting a stern look from his trainer, before settling back down with a reluctant grumble. I suppose he can't really do much to me anyway, Maceforge thought. Kinda cute, too...

The orange-and-black dragon laid down flat on the ground to let the pint-sized lizard sniff him. And sniff he did, nose to tail, busily exploring every inch of the big Nightmare before him. Eagerly clambering over, under and around the magnificent beast, the baby dragon spent a solid couple minutes intensely snuffling and exploring Maceforge.

Suddenly remembering that there were humans around too, the small greyish-tan reptile scampered over to Hammerstein to investigate and hopped into his lap with a cheery little gurgle. "Well, hi there! You sure are cute! Wonder how you got all the way over here..."

---------------------------------

As the pair approached the School's library, Magnus glanced back at Jarret over his shoulder and saw several other people not too far behind him headed the same way. Hmm... So much for a quiet place to talk. There's probably a back room or corner somewhere, though... "Well, Jarret, it looks as though we may have some company," Magnus said with a bit of a smirk. He opened the library's front door, holding it for the young man just behind him, and paused to let his eyes adjust to the relatively low light level...

((Not quite sure where to go from there... Aylen was about to go looking for Mag, right?))

Oh man...

((I'm just wing this one...))

Aylen didn't hear Alki very well, having already a couple of steps away from the table, heading for the main door. She only heard something about expecting company. Assuming that Alki needed some space for the visitors he was expecting, the archivist kept going, the book on Old Fitril hugged tightly against her chest.

'Magnus...I hadn't seen him since class. Where can I find him?'

Just as her hand absentmindedly reached for the handle, her thoughts abruptly pulled themselves back together, snapping her attention to the front. Her hand had grabbed nothing but the emptiness that was the air before her. Light was beginning to pour in from where the handle had been. The door was open?

"What...?" Aylen trailed off as she looked up, seeing two backlit figures standing in the doorway.

One was a towering human with a rather built frame, clothed in green, while the other figure was somewhat shorter, leaner and wearing a midnight-blue tunic, its sleeves folded up to the elbows. The shorter figure appeared distracted at first, but not long after, it looked up and locked eye contact with Aylen. Identical greenish-blue eyes stared.

Aylen couldn't help but feel a heat coiling inside her. "You."

~oOo~

"Really? Her Nadder decided to be smug towards you?"

The two young men had a small chat even as they headed towards the library. Magnus had explained about the rescue prior to their return to Berk. Apparently, in defence of rider and rider's friend, his sister's Deadly Nadder had turned hostile and winded the blacksmith, who later learnt of the dragon's cheeky side after managing to establish that he wasn't a threat.

The silence that followed was one Jarret didn't precisely enjoy having, and he was thankful when the blacksmith had something to say.

"Well, Jarret, it looks as though we may have some company."

He grimaced. "Great.. The last thing I need is some Vikings talking their mouths off as if there wasn't anything to shut up about."

His focus shifted onto the gap that Magnus had created by opening the door. It wasn't really the gap that caught his attention; it was the figure that stood rigid within it, a thick book clutched tightly in hands that were beginning to tighten from an emotion. Anger.

Jarret calmly locked eyes with the figure's, observing how the mirror pair began to harden.

"You."

"Hello, sis," he responded, eyes glancing at Magnus and back very swiftly. "Headmaster said you'd be here."

((Ooh.))

Another dragon?!?!

Isabo used the back entrance to the building, so she wouldn't get caught up in all the drama happening in the main Entrance. She happily greeted anyone who passed her way. She carefully made her way up the stairs, her dragon in tow. They reached the door to the grand Libary and Aroara twisted the censored of the glossy bronze handle. Isabo chuckled and said, "be careful there Roary, you know Alki doesn't like having to clean up dragon spit." She spoke in a stern tone, but laughter danced in her eyes. 'Alki must be so lonely, all he seems to do is sit in the libary with nothing but books. Maybe I could..' Well, he obviously did leave the Libary, and he kept himself in a good health and kept his lean form. She didn't know where he went or when he went, but honestly, she was just glad he was taking care of himself and not letting himself completely waste away.

She walked into the room littered with books. "I can your last guest and you made quite a mess," she said walked over and gave him a tight hug. She then turned to books and started gathering them. Noticing a pattern with the books she said, "so they were looking for information about Old Fitril.. Hmm" Her eyes grew distant as she got lost in thought. 'Wonder why. He wasn't that interesting.. Oh well.' She returned to gathering books. With Alki and Aroara's help, they soon cleaned up all the books, documents, letters, or anything else that needed to be put away. "Whew, job job young lassy." She heard her brother mimic Gobber's voice. She couldn't help but laugh. She thought about her plan earlier and said, "Alki, c'mon, I need to speak with you about something." She watched his eyes grow serious but questioning. They both sat down at a small table. She told him about how he should get something to keep him company. She listed off a few animals, cat, dog, bird, sheep, and hesitated to say or "an dragon". Although she didn't remember what had happened to his last reptilian companion, she had heard stories of what had happened. She was relieved when he didn't flinch or appear shocked, but she saw sadness shadow his usually bright amber eyes.

~~~~~~~~~
Alki sighed, he had thought about the idea before, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He closed his eyes and considered his options. 'Cat's are difficult to maintain and shed, dogs are the same. A bird? No, it would give him a headache with it's awful cries. Sheep? No, he wont have a farm animal as a pet. Plus, they are very stupid. Well, that only leaves one left... A dragon.' He just didn't know which one, and he didn't want to take that Personality Test again. Last time it said he should be paired with a Zippleback, and he couldn't even imagine having to stop the bickering between the heads. It wasn't that they were bad dragons, but he just wasn't the right trainer to handle the beasts. He liked Nadders, but having one would remind him too much of Exavier. Nightmares are too agressive and vain for him. Again, nothing against the breed, but he wouldn't be able to control one. Gronkle.. Hm, he wasn't too fond of them, they honestly didn't stand out much to him. He didn't want anything huge like an Whispering Death or an Thunderdrum, although they would be fun to ride. He reopened his eyes, and sighed.  'Maybe I'm too picky. I just can't help it... Exavier did set the bar high though...' He got up, and said kindly, "I'll will think about it, but at the moment, we have visitors arriving at any moment."
Let's see
((Okay, since the plot for Chapter 9 has already been passed by Rock, guess we should also prep for it from now as we go along :) I shall PM-discuss with Rock and maybe a few others about what could happen, then we'll put it forward to the rest. (It's basically like the poll function in the old forums, even though I never participated in those chapters.)
Savvy? :P))
Brief post
The two had been staring at each other for what seemed like eternity, and both were aware of this, knowing that the tall blacksmith near them was beginning to feel awkwardly out of place.
"What business do you have in the library, Jarret? You're too smart for the books," Aylen's voice almost rose in a hiss.
"Is it wrong to see my sister up and well again after her concussion and hypothermia?" Jarret shot back almost calmly, arms slowly folding neatly over his chest. "Or is the position of Archivist so high and mighty that even a blood brother is disallowed from a visit?"
It was evident that the two could launch themselves at each other's throats; Aylen, in particular, seemed just about ready to smash the thick book into Jarret's face. It was only the duty of keeping the book in good condition that held her back. Other than that, she wanted to claw at the young man's face.
Seemingly unfazed by the anger, Jarret continued, "So where are you going with that book?"
"You make me sound thief-like with that sentence phrasing!" she barked, now holding the book in a single hand.
"I'm not accusing."
"Well now!" she huffed. "I'm going to see Magnus, whom is being at least half the gentleman you'll never be."
This time, it was Jarret's turn to glare.
Good! ;D
Inna stepped back.
"I heard that from Gobber allready, thank you..." She said and continued on. "Sounds like a big deal, it's a good thing I was gone visiting my village at that time..." The girl explained and remembered her reaction when hearing about the Outcast attack. At that moment, she had felt so useless. And guilty, maybe if she had been there, she could have saved at least a few more lives, but she wasn't. "The Gods have created us for love, that's true...." She said in a bitter tone. "It's our most precious joy, and our biggest tragedy," Inna kept on. "And the best way of avoiding it, is not to feel it at all... that's what my sister taught me..."
((I totally took the thingie about love being your joy and tragedy from George R. R. Martin! C: Because it's very true, except Inna takes it a bit too serious. :C))
((Aylen, Jarret, there's an icey lady interrupting you!))
Ismey walked over the other side of the library and told the students (Aylen, and Jarret).
"This is a library, you're arrguing can be heard at the other side of the it!" She said in an ice cold tone.
The first view of Thorin.
((Well here it goes, I am not use to third person writing, only first person))
It was a regular afternoon at the school and the students were buzzing in the streets, shopping at the market, feeding and playing with their dragons, studying on the cold iced over benches and chatting in large groups scattered throughout the sides of the path. The street was quite loud, as people tried to talk over the noise of other conversations and the bickering of dragons, a sharp cold screech cut through the noise on the street all the way to the silent bones of the chilled air. Most students had never heard that dragon call before, but the few ones that had shuttered in their warm clothes. A shadow appeared in the dense cloud layer that loomed oddly close to the ground, the shadow became closer and closer until it broke through the cloud ceiling. It was a Skrill, but the person who rode it confused most of the students “How late can one person be? It is already a few days into the school year...” one student whispered to another. With a loud thud, the dragon touched down, everyone shuffled back as far away from the sinister dragon as possible, they clenched their jaws and balled their fists. The teen flung one of his legs to meet with the other and slid off the dragon's neck. A voice boomed from behind the circle of students “Ahh, Thorin, I expected you to be here early.” the headmaster exclaimed as he worked his way through the crowd. “I thought that too... Until Bolt took us on a detour to the lightning storms south-east of here” Thorin said as he walked around his dragon to the large sacks that hung off of Bolt's sides. “Follow me, I'll show you where you are going to be staying” the Headmaster said cheerfully as he walked down the crowded roads with Thorin in tow. Bolt's companion disappeared into the distance leaving him behind in the midst of the crowd, as soon as his rider turned the corner students started to sneer at the dragon “Get out of here beast!” “What an abomination” One of the younger students picked up a hand full of gravel and started tossing the pebbles at the confused dragon. A consuming anger welled in the dragon's soul, with a quick growl the skrill's body started to ripple with small lightning bolts as the air became thick with a strange tingling feeling, the skrill crackled with energy, sending the young student fleeing into a near by building. The dragon took off into the air with a quick flap of the wings and started following his friend's sent trail that lingered in the streets of the school of dragons.
Metal ... giving advice ... for something other than death?
((short post inbound))
Metal sighed at the girl's slightly true, yet foolish remark "Indeed, by not feeling it we won't be hurt by it, but is that not also cowardice? To love, share freindships all these spawn joy and the pain and suffering is the price we must pay for these things or we walk this flat land alone" Metal's cool demanour broke into one of silent suffering "... That is one road I wish not to take again, as lonesome and painful as it is, there is nothing worse then waking knowing that what ever you face that day nobody will be stood by your side" and as soon as it had came it was gone and Metal was back to his old expressionless cold self
Once again, stuck in a conflict I didn't make... XD
((Thank you, Ismey... O.o Magnus really wasn't looking forward to having to interrupt Aylen and Jarret. OTL))
"This is a library," someone nearby hissed, "and your arguing can be heard on the other side of it!" Magnus was relieved that he didn’t have to interrupt the bickering siblings - he’d backed away from the discussion a bit, suddenly feeling very much like a third wheel. “You know, she’s right,” he said to the Gryfforsons, receiving in return a pair of bristling glares. “I don’t know what’s going on between you two, and it's really none of my business, but here and now may not be the best place or time to hash it out. Let's go sit in the back,” he continued, earning another dirty look from a student before lowering his voice even further and taking a step toward the back of the library. "Aylen, you said you had something to see me about?"
((Aylen's normally very composed, but since her brother's appearance,she's becoming more bristly than usual. Prepare yourselves, for she may only get worse as we get closer to the end of this chapter (which may still be a bit far, but hey, it's good to plan and prepare ;P) The planning is going quite well XD))
((Inna doesn't like her sister either, so, she won't be pleased when seeing her either. However, Ismey will react much calmer because she is the cold person she is. In my head, Inna will meet Ismey after her talk with Metal, and end up in the library... Who's the noise maker now?))
I know, can you belive that?
Inna hissed. "Are you saying I AM a coward?" Take you're words back! She though, but for some reason, she didn't have the courage to say them out loud. Not that I am scared, I am sure I don't want to take MY words back... Listening on to what Metal has to say she asked. "Realising that there's noone there for you is horrible. But by being in friends with someone, I allready endanger him. And I bet I am not the only one, am I not right?"
---
Ismey, had allways had the gifted ability of being able to study people by giving them a long look. This time, she needed a small one, and she could allready realise that the girl wasn't in her right character. And the guy was the one that had caused it. Ismey would normally go back and read her book again,  but her ice cold eyes remained watching the two persons, which most likely seemed to be sibilings. Ismey, seemed... well, as out of character as it was, seemed curious about it, mostly because it reminded her of her own relationship between her sister.
She gave Aylen a gaze. "I have no interest in hearing your sad story, which caused you to hate this overgrown," Ismey pointed at Jarret. "Human- like thing. And I am sure you have no interesting in pouring it all out. But either way, it does feel like you make a mess out for no reason. Don't like something in his face- have I said you look alike? Which was actually meant as a compliment... Don't like him actually being here? I am sure my sister won't like me coming here either, but she won't make a tragedy out of it." Ismey explained. She was actally sure that Inna will be heard screaming all the way to Berk, but Ismey's honor was way more important now, and if she gets lucky, Inna won't even notice her.
((Ismey is rude! :C))
((God, I feel so ashamed of my posts compared to yours! So boring and badly written, and I am complaining again, k?))
oh dear, she doesn't seem to happy
Metal flinched and went wide eye'd as he recalled the loss of his comrades in the battle with the romans, their charred limp bodies in the aftermath, suddenly his pocket started to gain weight. Inside was the tags of his comrades that they used to identify each other with. Something at that moment changed Metal his cool demeanour was swept away and what was left in his eye was a savage look of hate and despair. His eyebrows narrowed slightly and his voice sounded somewhat warped "Yes you are a coward ... you are afraid of freinship because you are afraid that you will hurt them" Metal dropped his gaze "I have already watched those I care about die, cut down, burnt, betrayed.." Metal once again met her gazed and slowly moved a step forward so he faced her side on "You have no idea how that pain feels, That burden you have to carry around with you ... Prehaps you may have tasded the bitter pain of losing someone but not like this, not 500 souls who continue to haunt your every waking moment, So fine walk your road alone but when I accend to Valhalla I will be welcomed with open arms" Metal strightened his posture "Tell me can you say the same? do your ancestors smile down on the path you chose" 'Because mine certainly do not' However Metal kept this in his thoughts, not wanting to speak it aloud
((I just. I can't even. -refer to the last GIF in my siggie- BWAH. Aylen isn't going to be too happy about being run down like that, but she'll likely to let it slide more easily. Ohh, sorry...
((Well, she WAS living with Berserkers for around two years... So, that could explain it. She's also usually very polite, Aylen and Jarret got her outta character, both in being rude :C and curious, because according to "Croods", curious is bad! :C (Just kiddin'...) However, there's an explenation about the names question too.
About Aylen: she is a teacher, right?
And in one post you said: "What business do you have in the library, Jarret? You're too smart for the books," Aylen's voice almost rose in a hiss.
I am not sure how loud it was, but I am sure it was enough. Ismey wasn't that far away from them, AND since vikings aren't much readers, the library shouldn't be AS big, right?))
((K, gotta answer Metal! ^.^))
Inna, being the proud girl she was, most likely belived that she was the less coward of the school, however, appearantly, she wasn't. Which just drived her mad, and mainly, because Metal was right about her being a coward. She decidet to skip the answer for that so she just moved on the next part, which didn't bring much joy either.
"Well then, you must have a horrible life..." Inna said, but soonly fixed her words. "And I meant that... feelin' sorry for ya'..." Listening on, she mentioned. "Well, Helheim doesn't seem that bad, Valhalla seems nicer, though." Just then, Metal started even a more touchy theme. "No... they don't..." She said feeling shame in herself.
Metal looked at the girl stood before him his warped demanour slowly dimisnished and with nothing more to say walked back towards the door, as he walked he said "My name is Metal, the last decendant of the Wanderer tribe ... stay out of my way" with that Metal left the room and headed straigh for the library.
Upon arrival he he noticed an unusual sight in the library, people, before when he had visited there was only at the very most one other person in there, regardless Metal picked out a book at random and took up a chair in the corner. he examined the book he had picked up, the title read *Enemies of the hooligans* Metal scanned the contents and towards the end noticed a certain chapter that stimulated his curiosity it was labbled *Wanderer's*. He flicked through the pages trying to find the page and began what he thought would be, a very intressting read
Here we go...
((Alright, I've made up my mind -- I'm jumping in. Hopefully I'll be able to stay relatively active once this gets moving... is this still the second day of school? I think I heard someone say it's been months since it started but I'm going with second day, if that's wrong I can edit this or something))
When Adaryn envisioned her return to the school, she imagined triumphantly swooping down into the caldera with the sun blazing at her back, while an earthshaking roar from Kalira drew an awed gasp from the student body. The reality was less exciting. After a long, exhausting flight, the best the Nightmare could do was slowly coast through the fissure in the caldera, managing to glide just far enough to flop awkwardly on the landing platform. The storm had hit when the pair was within an hour of Berk, and it blew them far off course. Cut off from their home island and too tired to fly back to the south, the young girl and dragon had been forced to wait out the storm on a miserable excuse for an island overnight. Now, drained, hungry, thirsty, a day late for the start of school, and with clothes stiff from dried saltwater, they sat and panted on the landing platform for half an hour before collecting themselves and shuffling off to see the Headmaster. Even after being away for so long, they hardly had the energy to be excited about their return; they regarded farmiliar landmarks and locations with listless gazes, wanting nothing more than hot food, a bath, and sleep. They could celebrate later.
((My idea for Adaryn was that she spent some long period of time away from the school, traveling around, visiting her old home, etc., and thus knows nothing about what has transpired in the past roleplays except maybe some rumors (mostly because I only have a vague idea of what's happened as well). It works for her character, because she wants to be a diplomat. All I need to know is how long she needs to have been away. Does that work for everyone?))
((Hey, guess what, everyone? I ran away from home about 7 hours ago! Why? Because my stress levels went over the top and I went berserk ._. Obviously I'm home now - how else would I be writing out this reply? XD))
The siblings were abruptly cut off from their heated argument thanks to the interjection of an ice-cold voice. With simultaneous movements that stereotypically represented twins, the two had whipped their heads towards the sound of the voice, their matching eyes coming upon the beauty of youth before them.
It was a female about Aylen's age, possessing carmine-red hair and rather pale skin. For starters, pale skin would normally bring about a feeling of worry for illness, but she looked well. Next to be noticed were those stone-cold silver-blue eyes that stared, if not glared, at them.
Aylen's thoughts suddenly strung themselves together, and she blinked rapidly in confusion, words tumbling out of her mouth without her bidding. "Right, pardon both of us - we were caught up in something."
"Excuse you," Jarret gave his sister a look, his body weight shifted away from her as he did. "Since when do you apologise so quickly?"
"What?" the confused reply made Jarret arch an eyebrow.
Turning back to the newcomer, Jarret chuckled mirthlessly. "Insult me as much as the Outcasts do, fair maiden; I know you won't give a care about it should I kick up a fuss. But do keep in mind that insulting my family and friends is probably something one would like to think twice of...especially if it's about my sister."
Aylen visibly twitched at the change in tone of Jarret's voice. It had gone from cool and collected to subtly threatening and murderous, something she had begun fearing to hear since the day she woke up from her hypothermic coma. Berkians had secretly spoken about Jarret's mysteriousness, one that she hadn't been unable to decode herself. Was this one of it?
"Let's go, Aylen. You wanna talk with Magnus, he's right here," Jarret nudged the blacksmith and the archivist towards the back of the library, giving the female Viking an irritatingly charming smile. "If you wish to confirm my identity, then yes - Jarret Gryfforson, roaming member of the Berk Watch. You've already heard my name before all this, I'm sure."
"Jarret, you twit, what are you-" Aylen didn't resist being moved to the back of the library alongside Magnus, but she was unusually furious about what rattled from his mouth. "What's with that?!"
"Just move and save the talk for later, will you?" he hissed through clenched teeth, watching from the corner of his eye as the figure of the Viking faded out in the light. "You better be glad I didn't blow my top at her!"
The brown-haired archivist huffed, not missing the chance to pass a sarcastic remark. "'You should've, then we could renovate and expand the library space to accommodate your overgrown ego."
"I do not have an overgrown ego. I'm just too much of a talker."
"Point taken."
"...Dang it."
((Jarret's protective of his sister under all circumstances, but he seldom shows it openly, all for the sake of his own pride that selfish moron XD. Why didn't he lose his temper? Because he realises Ismey would only shoot him down again, twice in succession, so he'd rather wash it off quickly and avoid tactless conflict. That, and it's a library XD
And then we have the two with a little comedic banter at the end. Jarret expected his sister to assure him otherwise - lol, nope :P))
And it was pretty smart of him to leave the library, instead of staying there! :3 Cuz as long as you don't start mentioning anything about her village or family members, she won't shut up! T_T))
I hope you're alright, Carotius!!!
Finding the headmaster proved more difficult than expected. He wasn't in his usual spot, surveying the student's activities from outside the main building. It wasn't a mealtime, so he wasn't in the great hall. At a loss and wanting to avoid climbing down to the headmaster's house if at all possible, Adaryn decided to check the library. Leaving Kalira to wait outside, she pushed the door open and was surprised to find that everyone in the library was really attractive. She blinked a few times at the gathered assembly of students. Inhabitants of Berk weren't generally known for their beauty, but these people broke that stereotype to smithereens. Whatever they're doing to the new students, it's working, Adaryn decided as she walked in the room. Too late, she remembered that she smelled like the underside of a fishing boat -- within moments, all students within five feet of her had cleared out. Some tried to be subtle about it, but others made audible choking sounds or clapped a hand over their faces and ran.
"Whoops," Adaryn mumbled a halfhearted apology. She made quite a sight -- windblown hair, crusty clothes, grimy hands, and eyes red from lack of sleep. Forgetting the rule about noise in the library, she raised her voice. "Hey, does anyone know where the Headmaster is? I, uh, need to talk to him. It's kind of important."
Time for some entertainment!
Alki saw the girl walk in, looking like a ship-wreck. The libarian scowled when she was loud and disruptive. He walked over to her and said as calmly and kindly as he could, "Hello, miss. I believe the headmaster is watching over a class at the moment. How I know? Look at all the students in here." He scanned the room looking at how a lot of students didn't even have a book or had it upside down. They were just sitting in small groups, chatting qiuetly.. 'Nothing better than hiding from essesments, eh?' He ruturned his gaze back to the girl and smiled. "You should probably go and wash up before seeing him. I'll take you to him after you come back." He was saying that as kindly as he could. He hoped she wouldn't take it the wrong way. He only said that because of the disgusted stares or angry looks that were being flung at her. His amber eyes hushed the students as he spoke.
I'm back!
Elder paced the school grounds before stopping and leaning on a wall to rest, he saw Lif and Bani circling the sky above him. As he rested, he contemplated what he had seen in his dream. The thought of his family being murdered gripped him like an vice and the surge of emotion made him slide down the wall to a sitting position, Lif and Bani landed and curled up near to him nuzzling their head against his legs.
As he sat the vision of his dying father continuously flashed before his eyes. A tear rolled down his cheek again. "...Dad" Elder said, his voice filled with sorrow. Then more tears began to flow and Elder was glad he was alone. Just then a word came to mind...Bloodcloak. This new information caused him to compose himself and wipe the tears from his eyes. "...Bloodcloak...What does that mean?" Elder picked his brain for anymore new information. The library... he thought. The library was bound to have something about Bloodcloaks.
As he walked in he found that the library was much more crowded than he had anticipated. As he scanned the crowd ,looking for some kind of librarian that could help him find the information he was looking for, he noticed a familiar figure ,cloaked in black, sat in the corner reading a book. Lif and Bani landed on his shoulders and protectively growled at the figure. "Guys, Guys, it's fine. He's not gonna hurt me again...i think" His dragons calmed down and Elder contemplated talking to him again. His injured arm, still held by the leather strap, started to ache again. Just seeing Metal seemed to bring back painfully memories. He started towards him.
intressting
Metal slamed the book shut pressed i down hard aginst the table resounding with a large *Thud* noise that attracted some attrention others closer to him didn't turn around and almost seemed to be shaking, The book Metal had picked up seemed to describe his people as some sort of savagetribe of cutthroats who were avid followers and acolytes of Nifelheim.
Metal was pent up with rage howevere his outward appearence contained his normal cold expression, if Metals expression grew any colder hpwever ice may of started to condense in his small corner of the library, it only diminished at the sight of a familiar figure slowly moving towards him, Metal raised an eyebrow which dissapeared behind his hair and leant forward onm his table in genuine suprise
veeeery interesting
As he walked towards Metal, Elder almost flinched at him suddenly slamming his book on the table. As he got closer he noticed that Metal was now looking at him and showing a look of genuine surprise. The sight of his face showing something other than his usual icey demeanour caused a smirk to settle on Elder's face. He stopped at the edge of the table. "Surprised to see me?" He asked "it'll take more than a few blows to the head to take me out." Elder let out a hearty laugh and held out his uninjured hand.
Once his hand had been released Metal leaned back in his chair "and what is it that you want?" Elder smiled at the question. "I wanted to congratulate you" The raised eyebrow he got in reply signalled Elder to continue "on winning the fight. You're also the first decent opponent i've had in a while. I'd love a rematch right now but..." He looked as his restrained, injured arm "...you seem to have temporarily crippled me"
We interrupt this program for some unscheduled cuteness.
((I tried waiting as long as I could for Tempest, but things must keep moving.))
Stormfalcon blinked up at the strange creature that was like Mother but not like Mother. This one was...male? Yes, male, like himself and the other Nightmare. The young dragon started sniffing the male creature-like-Mother as he had with the other Nightmare. So many scents on its pelts. Where had it been? Had it seen awesome stuff? Why was he different from Mother? Were Mother's creatures like Nightmares, all different? They must be! Was every creature different?
He clambered on top of the male creature-like-Mother and snuffled his fun. Mother-creatures were weird. In the process, unfortunately, he set the being off-balance, and both went tumbling to the ground. Feeling ruffled, Stormfalcon looked at the creature-like-Mother with round, yellow eyes, pupils dilated in confusion. Letting out a strange, gurgly meep, he attempted to ask what happened.
---------
Relieved that he hadn't crashed, but still worried, Briarwolf watched as her new dragon climbed to the ledge of the sea stack. Monstrous Nightmares weren't cannibals, were they? Shifting her wait constantly, she tried to think of a way to get Stormfalcon back...then almost whacked herself in the face when she thought of something. It was too simple...
She let out a loud, shrill whistle, one dit and one dah in quick succession with increasing pitch. Hopefully, her dragon heard her and at least looked to where the sound was from...
---------
Stormfalcon blinked, when from a distance he heard a sound. A...."whistle" he thought it was called. Like birds do. Completely losing interest in anything else, he scampered to the edge of the stonething and searched for the source of the sound. IT came again, and he zeroed in on-
Mother!
Feeling excited, he raised up and flapped his wings...but.. He was getting tired. Could he make the glide to Mother? He had to, but he wasn't sure. Hesitating, he called out to her, not sure what to do. Unless... Turning his head, he looked at the male creature-like-Mother and gurgled at him, hoping he might help. Could he help?
I need to get to Mother...
((So, I didn't see anything about Mace having a helmet hence Storm sniffing his hair, not investigating a shell-thing. Lol))
Cleanliness is important!
"Yeah... wash up. Good idea," Adaryn muttered to herself. She hadn't been near a mirror recently, but was starting to get a vague idea of how awful she looked. "Thank you. I'll be back." With that, she shuffled off.
Kalira greeted her at the door. "We're going to wash up," Adaryn informed her. "Think you can fly to the house?" Kalira offered her back in reply -- Adaryn climbed on, and they took off.
Adaryn's farm, after months of neglect, looked sad and empty. "Remind me to get the chickens and sheep back from Phlegma," Adaryn said to Kalira, who grumbled in reply. The botanist had been kind enough to look after Adaryn's livestock during her absense. She hadn't tended to the farm itself, however. The plots were now choked with weeds. Adaryn had a lot of work to do before the farm was back to its usual self.
The house was dusty and dark, but otherwise mostly unchanged. The two set to work -- Kalira was unsaddled, the fire was lit, water was fetched from the well. Along the way, Adaryn caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror and nearly screamed, thinking an evil spirit had gotten into the house. After that, she redoubled her efforts to get clean. Fresh clothes were found, the wooden bathtub was filled, and Kalira dropped heated stones into the water to warm it. In no time at all, a freshly scrubbed Adaryn stood in front of her mirror, deftly weaving her brown hair into a tight braid.
"I feel good as new," she exclaimed. Kalira, almost completely submerged in the pond as she took her own dragon-y bath, hissed in agreement.
After bolting down a quick meal, Adaryn rode Kalira bareback back to the library, hoping that they hadn't taken too long.
((Sorry it took so long for me to reply -- I was in a (minor) car accident on Monday morning and, well, stuff got in the way XD Also sorry for the long reply O.o))
You bet it is!
((Don't worry about it. It's okay. Real life comes first!.. Now, back to the Rp >w<))
Alki watched her fly in on her dragon to meet him, on the inside flinching painfully. "No, it's fine. Well, let's go and find the headmaster." Turning towards the Target Range, he swiftly strode in that direction. He knew she must be wondering why he wasn't riding upon the back of a giant lizard with wings, and if she asked, he wouldn't know what to say. He did miss soaring through the sky, 'but time moves on, as it always has.' He wasn't the same person he was before, but he wouldn't change what had happened. He had his best friend, even if it was only for a short while. He would never forget that. They moved fast, and in a few moments, they were nearing the Archery.
He smiled as he saw the headmaster, and laughed when the old viking said, "Hello, my good friend." Turning to the few that turned to look, he said jokingly said, "He decided to leave his cave of a Libary for once in a red moon, and I couldn't be happier!" When the students had their laugh and went back to shooting arrows, he spoke more seriously and said, "Well, Alki, what brings you here? There must be a reason to drag you all the way out here."
Alki nodded and said respectfully, "A girl wished to see you. Ah, here she comes now!" While he was speaking, he was making motions towards Adaryn and her dragon.
