Jessa of the Sheikah/Gerudo

Jessa had fun traveling with Naboris, Grumf and the animals. Trixie, Maxilar and Floofy had become fast friends and enjoyed chasing each other around the halls inside Naboris herself. Thankfully, the Divine Beast didn't mind. Jessa made sure he knew the basic language greetings: Sargso meaning Thank You, Sav'otta - meaning Good Morning, Vure, meaning bird and a few other key words.

"Now remember, Goron may be allowed in the village no matter the gender, but that's only because we can't mate with them. Men aren't allowed in the village no matter what, not even if a Gerudo Vai is married. Riju is our current leader and Buliara is her bodyguard. She's stern and scary looking, but when she's playing with animals like Trixie, she's actually pretty chill." Jessa advised, smiling at Grumf as they stopped about a mile's hike from the village, about halfway between the village and the Kara Kara bazzar, where she'd take her normal pit stop. Maxilar was currently resting in her backpack. She'd dump him in his pile of dirt once they got settled. Trixie yipped happily, eager to be home again.

Grumf the Goron and Floofy the shadow kargarok

Grumf said "Thanks for the ride!" when Naboris let them off ((I'm assuming that's what stopping meant)) then told Jessa "Right. No dudes other then Gorons. Got it. ......actually..... I assume male pets are ok too right? They aren't mates ether so the same logic should apply?"

Floofy was a little late to get off but it didn't matter as he had wings. He only joined his Goron when he noticed the group splitting. As a familiar shadow passed over then Grumf said "See? Told ya he'd follow when he saw me leaving."

Jessa nodded as she got off Naboris, Trixie on her heels as Floofy flew down to meet them while Trixie ran over to a nearby cactus to do her business. There weren't any voltfruit on this cactus, but that didn't matter at the moment.

[You are both quite welcome. I'll be out near the Gerudo Ruins if you need anything.] Naboris told the two passengers, giving an audible "You're welcome" rumble for Grumf's sake as Trixie came back.

"Naboris says "You're welcome" and she'll be over at the Gerudo Ruins if we need her. And I think we can take Floofy's emergency diaper off now. I'm sure he'd apperciate it." Jessa relayed, then remembered what Grumf commented on.

"Yes, male animals are allowed. We need male Sand Seals to breed them after all. My big guy's one of the biggest. His name's Nabu - it means "Knowledge" in our language. He's a real sweetheart. He'll probably be the most willing to take on a rookie rider. He's very smart and very patient with students in Sand Seal riding classes. I let Essa use him as a lesson Seal since I get too busy to ride him often. You catch on fast." She confirmed as they approached the gates to the town.

"Now remember: Vure is bird, Sav'aaq is "Good Day" and can be used all day as a formal or informal greeting. Vai is "woman" and Voe" is "man". You need to make sure you emphasize the double a sound in Sav'aaq and the Q as if you're trying to hock a loogie. At least that's how I learned it from Mom when I was a kid." The young woman reminded the Goron as they approached the gate. "Watch and learn." She hissed, raising a hand to wave.

"Sav'aaq ladies!" She greeted, Trixie bounding ahead to jump on the two women in greeting. It was the only way she really knew how to greet the people she liked after all.

Galroh stroked his chin at this information, before turning and looking at Zeraena in a silent question of 'why didn't you mention this?"

Zeraena awkwardly chewed her lip for a second before saying "Oh yeah. I honestly forgot we did that." which... she really had. It'd slipped her mind while she'd been telling the story but she also knew part of her hadn't wanted to share that information with Galroh yet anyways. Of course.... she couldn't say that to him.

"Where is this artifact right now? I would like to see it for myself." Galroh calmly said, to Zeraena's relief, moving on with the subject. She glanced over at Draiil because he'd been the one to stash it, before glancing back towards Galroh and saying "We'll see if we can get it to you. It might take us a while just because it's supposedly really volatile. I wouldn't want to endanger you."

Galroh nodded, waving them off as permission for them to go and do so.

"Sav'aaq." one replied. The other stared at Floofy and gesturing to him with her spear (not in a ready to stab pointing it at him sort of way just sort of a lean to point him out sort of way) and asked "Another beast friend Jessa? What even is that?" for even if Jessa's note to her mother had warned about Floofy apparently news had not spread to that specific guard.

Grumf piped up "A-Actually ma'am. That one's mine. His name is Floofy. He's a shadow kargarok."

"Never heard of such a vure. ...If it even is a vure." the guard told him.

Grumf replied "Yeeeaaah. Most people haven't. He's from somewhere else. And yeah. He's a bird. I mean, vure."

The guard talking to Grumf looked mildly amused. "Can you say Sav'aaq?" she asked. Grumf tried to repeat it but didn't quite get the word right because of lack of practice. The guard he was talking to looked even more amused. She found it funny when tourists s.crewed up the greetings.

The one who had greeted Jessa said "Not bad for a first try." then said to Jessa specifically "I assume you gave him pointers. He clearly needs more practice though."

As they walked Draiil told his partner "So you know how Fred and I had to really look for somewhere special to hide the thing? You might find this interesting."

He lead Zeraena to an old storage room (that was quite a good distance from the hideout as it was not related to the hideout at all). Not just any storage room though. An underground Sheikah tec storage room that as Draiil explained Fred had apparently just known about the entire time they knew him but hadn't been able to tell them about because of the obvious language barrier. It had a bunch of random gadgets and stuff that were well worth looking at in their own right.

Fred was also in there....messing with the artifact.

Draiil scolded "FRED!" the guardian stalker dropped the thing and Draiil zipped over to shove a towel under it (the towel had been in the room as Draiil had wrapped the object in it hoping to avoid too much physical contact) in case it was delicate enough to break from a fall.

Draiil continued "What made you think it was a good idea to touch that huh?! You could've been sent who knows where and we might never have been able to see each other again!"

Fred gave an alarmed chirp and hugged Draiil in apology.

Draiil said "Easy on the ribs! I'm delicate. ....I'm also still annoyed with you. That was BAD Fred!"

Zeraena wasn't quite sure what Draiil had meant until they actually got there. She didn't have time to let out an 'ooh' of wonder because of the right-off-the-bat scare with Fred messing with the artifact thing, but after that, she gave the place a very thorough look around. "Huh. How long have you known about this, eh? This place have anything to do with how you re-built Fred?" she questioned, immediately wanting to fiddle around with some of the gadgets but opting against that for the sake of the task at hand. Which was the artifact. ....She wanted to touch that, too. Plus she did want an excuse to go over to Fred and just take a look at him too.

Draiil (who was still stuck in Fred's claws) admitted "No. I just nicked things from some of the few tec labs for that. Fred lead me here when I asked him to help hide the thing. He must have been in here before at some point and remembered it."

Fred was in many ways not a regular guardian. While not naturally as aggressive as in their corrupted states as people were use to them being the guardians could be a lot more standoffish then the divine beasts. They did not require a partner the way the beasts did and it wasn't uncommon for them to completely prefer to be left alone. But not every guardian and not even every guardian of the same type were made for the same job. Many were ment to help lead the charge against Ganon rushing in aggressively and offensively. Some however were defensive running around behind the lines of their more aggressive comrades meant to help move villagers out of harms way and protect them so they would not be forgotten in the heat of battle. Draiil had deduced that Fred was a part of that second job description. A much more personable guardian so tolerant and gentle towards those considered allies that a child could put finger paint on him and he would not care.

Unlike many guardians who did not care if they got interaction as long as they did their job Fred was somewhere in between the divine beasts and other guardians. He did not need to be partnered with anyone but he enjoyed company and could even get bored if left alone too long. When Fred got bored he started exploring things. Leading to the situation the Yiga had walked in on.

Once Draiil had convinced Fred to let go of him he carefully checked on the artifact and said "Whew. I don't think he broke it. Imagine the trouble if he had. I hope there isn't a monster somewhere in this room now."

Draiil said "Keep in mind. We don't know anything about how it activates. Just touching it could do random things for all we know."

Draiil decided it was a good idea to check the room for anything weird before they tried to take the artifact to their boss. They didn't find anything and Draiil thought that meant they had a lucky escape from trouble.

For the Yiga clan that was true. Elsewhere however.....

Somewhere around the base of d.eath mountain another weird goron (though one that was weird in a very different way from Grumf) and a lynel were tossed to the ground out of thin air. The lynel was pink with white patches and had a mane of a sort of light peach or creamish tan color. Ferdinand felt a throbbing in his right horn. Putting a pawlike hand up there he found half of it had been broken off. Then as he looked around to see where it might've gone he found....it had ended up wedged in some of the rocks in the Goron's back. The lynel quickly g.rabbed it to remove it and throw it away hoping the Goron wouldn't notice and get insulted. Lynels and gorons did not get along where they had come from.

Jessa nodded to the guard, gesturing between Floofy and Grumf.

"Yeah, on the ride here with Naboris. I gave him a few pointers for our language. Floofy's relatively harmless and is good friends with Trixie. You should see them playing together sometime. I made sure he could at least roll his Rs properly." She admitted, nodding to the Goron.

"Met him when I was at Castle Hyrule. Trixie liked him right away and you guys know how she is about strangers. The vure is called a "Shadow Kagarock". They're from someplace called the "Twilight Realm" which somehow connects to both his world and ours apprently. They used some sort of artifact to get here and since they can't find it, they are unfortunately stuck here until they can find it again. I offered to give them a place to stay in the mean time. You know Mom's always letting travelers stay with us when the inn's full, or even for the heck of it." The girl admitted to the two older women.

"Oh and Lady Riju will be expecting my report on the afairs at the castle. We had a little Divine Beast trouble, but Naboris helped us get the situation under control." She added, smiling at her Goron friend. It was clear even to these women that their introverted "Sister" was quite comfortable with these two strangers despite the fat she was a known introvert.

One of the guards said "Yes. I think Lady Riju will very much want to know about how things went given the....unexpected parts." She looked Grumf up and down in a way that made him just a little uncomfortable but it was actually more suprise over what Jessa just told her then suspicion of Grumf even though it outwardly looked it. After all, Jessa had left for a meeting with royalty and she came back with someone from another world apparently. That was even less normal then the trip was suppose to be by at least a magnitude of 5. The other guard asked "Is the shadow kargarok dangerous?"

Grumf replied "Not really. He CAN be if someone trys to hurt him or something like basically any animal. I mean he's really strong because he flys and all but he's not any worse then a horse when it comes to real aggression. He's not going to try to eat anybody's kids or anything like that if that's what you're worried about. He might go after smaller pets but if I'm allowed to stay with him I'll be able to put a stop to that before any bad things happen."

The guard who asked the question noted "You are sure of that?"

Grumf nodded. The guard told him "I have no reason not to believe you espessully given you're with one of our own. We'll give you the chance to prove your word without any restrictions."

"Thank's ma'am." Grumf replied before the guards gestured for the group to head into the city.

Grumf looked around as they passed the entryway finding the odd almost claylike look of the buildings interesting. He wasn't very familiar with adobe even though he had been to his world's version of Gerudo desert and had seen ruins of Gerudo structures. It was very different to look at an alive and active town then to see its d.ead and eroding state. For Grumf he couldn't help but wonder how similar these Gerudo were to the ones back in his world. How much was this like looking back through time at the extinct race when it was still in its prime. Grumf's curious looks were given curious looks right back as he and his bird looked weird but the Goron barely noticed. He was use to Floofy being stared at.

The kargarok pulled more attention to him when he decided to take a drink from one of the two small aqueducts that ran through the bazaar/main area of the town. He put himself in full view of everybody in the marketplace when he did this.

Grumf was pleasantly surprised to note that Floofy did not send everyone panicking like had happened a few times he had entered some other places in the past. The bird had been clearly seen being allowed in by the guards and that helped a ton. There was however one random Hylian women who looked like she might be about to run screaming should Floofy approach her. Likely a tourist or merchant who did not sign up for seeing anything weird today.

Jessa of the Sheikah/Gerudo

Jessa smiled as a few of the kids ran forward to greet them. They were used to Maxilar so a Shadow Kagarock would be no big deal for them and barely gave the bird a second glance.

"JESSA'S BACK!" They squealed, tackling the older girl. Jessa yelped as she landed on her backside in the adobe street, laughing along with the girls as Trixie yipped happily, getting stuffed with treats by the girls, none of them older than five. She couldn't help laughing along with them.

"Hey guys, yeah, I'm back. Sorry I was gone so long this time. Were you all good girls while I was gone?" She asked, earning hugs and chatter from them.

"So who's the new goron?" One girl demanded, glancing at Grumf. "And what's with the weird looking vure? I've never seen one like it before!" another asked. "Is it one of your pets Jessa?" Another demanded. "It looks big enough to hold a person, can we ride it like we can ride Maxilar?" A fourth asked, walking right up to Floofy without an ounce of fear in her.

"Milla! Come on guys, it's not even my bird! And my friend's name is Grumf, Floofy belongs to him. Weird name, I know, but it's his bird. Floofy's also good friends with Trixie. I'm sure that if you ask Grumf nicely, he'll see if Floofy can give you rides later once we speak to Lady Riju." Jessa told them, earning the puppy eyes from the girl who asked if they could ride Floofy - Milla. She was the youngest, four years old. None of them were older than a decade. Considering Hylians, Gerudo and others like them lived longer than humans, that would be considered a youngster. They all grew up around Maxilar so they were used to odd creatures of the night, but it was clear they'd never seen anything like Floofy before. One of the girls, a youngster named Resuta, was looking over Floofy with a critical eye. A second girl, a 7 year old named Rainuri, was poking at Grumf a little while her one year older sister Sotako tried to pull her back while Milla simply stared

Grumf the Goron and Floofy the shadow kargarok

Grumf confirmed "He might tolerate people other then me riding him if we do it a specific way." then felt someone poking at him. "They're tattoos." he said assuming he was being poked at because of the markings on his skin.

Floofy honked once and flapped his wings a few times in display before folding them back to his sides. He regarded those looking at him with equal interest for a moment before raising one of his spindly storklike legs to relieve a random itch he apparently just got. For a bird of prey he really didn't have the most frightening talons. In fact while he had toes he barely had talons at all. It was just another thing added to the list of things he should have but didn't.

The kids were now enthraled with Grumf and Floofy.

"How come your vure doesn't have talons? He looks big enough to lift a Sand Seal if he wanted to." Rainuri asked, pointing at Floofy's claws. Jessa was also curious about that. That was a pretty good observation from the little girl. She'd make a good scientist.

"I was wondering the same thing, if he's a bird of prey, how come he doesn't have talons like a hawk or an eagle?" Jessa asked, glancing at the claws of her birdy friend

Grumf the Goron and Floofy the shadow kargarok

Grumf replied "Because kargaroks don't k.ill their food with their feet. They do it with their beaks."

This of course lead to the obvious point of "But...he doesn't have a beak. Actually, how does he even eat?"

Grumf replied "Regular kargaroks do. Only the shadow ones look like Floofy here and they seem to use magic to make up for the things they lack. He can still peck and stuff even though it makes no sense."

One kid asked "So...he eats with magic?"

Grumf told them "You're going to love this! Watch." and proceeded to give Floofy a treat. Somehow Floofy took it and ate it holding it with nothing as if he had a beak before the food disappeared down the hole in the center of what should have been his face.

One said "He's like Maxilar!" remembering the way the stallhorse made food vanish into a stomach that didn't exist.

"He IS like Maxilar." Grumf agreed "He's also full of dark magic in a very similar way. I don't think it's Ganon's though. It's twilight magic which is it's own thing but still totally dark magic."

Rubblus found himself laying face-first on the ground, his head throbbing slightly along with some part of his back. He groaned gruffly, before catching a bit of pink movement out of the corner of his eye. And that's when he remembered Ferdinand.

"Hey..... HEY!!" he growled, pushing himself up and off of the ground. He grabbed Ferdinand by the wrist, scowling at him angrily. "WHAT did you do." he demanded. "Do you really think your lynel magic tricks are going to get you out of this? Hmm? Teleporting us makes no difference." he growled, although he was mildly aware that wasn't exactly what had happened. He was still a little discombobulated after having a lynel smack into him and then fall on him so he was jumping to conclusions mostly out of instinct.

Ferdinand started "HOW SHOULD I KN-" then froze. A look of horror crossed his face and he slowly pointed towards the top of the volcano with his free but shaking hand.

Rudania had picked up the portal stuff and while he was slow to leave the volcano's crater because he didn't want to abandon the warms he was also curious and so now he was just sort of....lazily poking his head out trying to see if he could find anything without having to move. The energy that caught his attention was gone pretty quick so he was already starting to loose some interest in his current wanting to be left alone to recharge state. Still, he was considering whether or not it was worth flying his drones down there. Did he care enough? He knew he should but....did he?

Rubblus arched an eyebrow at Ferdinand, but luckily for the Lynel, Rubblus wasn't suspicious of him enough to think Ferdinand's pointing at something behind him is a trick. So he turned and looked and....

At first, he wasn't really sure what he was looking at. But then he realized the issue. The THING poking out of the top of death mountain (which looked a little different from his but he wasn't paying attention to that right now.)

"By Din.... What in the blazes is that?" he breathed, for there weren't Divine Beasts in the world both he and Ferdinand came from.

"I was hopeing YOU would know! It's YOUR mountain!" Ferdinand said.

Rudania got a little further out of the volcano and sort of paused there before turning around and going back in. He then set loose a drone which flew all the way down and made a pass over where the two were. Ferdinand in his terror managed to pull loose from Rubblus for long enough to shove himself against a cliff with a large overhang while the thing passed. The drone saw Rubblus but not Ferdinand and if the Goron decided that Ferdinand's idea was a good one it might've only saw part of him. The thing continued circling once it had spotted something weird. "What is it?" Hissed Ferdinand in a whisper he could barely keep a whisper.

Rudania was naturally not very suspicious of Gorons. All he ended up doing for now was telling Yunobo [There's a weird looking Goron with dark skin and a red back at the base of the mountain.]

Yunobo thought [What? A red back? Does hair dye work on rock?]

[You're asking me?] Rudania sent.

Yunobo continued [No, just...another thing I didn't mean to send. Maybe there was just weird lighting or something.]

Rudania wasn't sure how lighting could cause what he saw but he didn't care enough to argue (plus...might've not been a good look). Instead he just watched what he could see through his drone.

Jessa smiled, seeing the girls were perfectly comfortable around Floofy despite the fact he was different. It was a good thing they were used to Maxilar after all. That certainly helped. They DID grow up around him for the most part.

"OK guys, I think that's enough questions for now. You can pester Grumf for information about Floofy later. Right now we have to go see Lady Riju." Jessa told the kids, earning a collective awe of dissapointment from the group. She rolled her eyes in response.

"Don't you kids have chores to do anyways?" She reminded them, making them scatter. That worked every time. She grinned in response.

"The chore reminder. Scares them off every time. Come on, we better get going. Lady Riju is expecting us." The young Geridah told Grumf as she led the way throuh town towards the palace.

Grumf followed Jessa giving a friendly wave to the palace gaurds when they passed them. The palace gaurds didn't really react other then following the group with their eyes. They didn't make a fuss over Floofy as they had been within veiwing distance of that kid swarm moment. Though they hadn't been in hearing distance they could see enough to know Floofy wasn't a threat even if he was weird looking. They might have stopped him just in case if he and his rider weren't following Jessa but as things were they left the group alone.

When they got in front of Lady Riju Grumf kneeled ((as I'm sure that would've been one of the things Jessa would've told him was polite)) but Floofy didn't. Floofy didn't understand such things. Luckily Buliara didn't hold nonspeaking animals up to the same standards.

As the group came in Riju said (with a tone that turned into slight suprise for a moment when Grumf and Floofy came in before returning to normal) "Jessa! You have returned. And you've.....brought friends I see. I'm going to assume that's going to be explained in the story you're about to tell me."

"At least the Goron knows some manners." Buliara said.

Jessa knelt as she approached Lady Riju's throne, pleased to see Grumf knew royal protocols. Or at least cultural ones. Even Buliara approved.

"It will be Milady. And it's a rather interesting story too." Jessa replied. She started with her arrival at the palace, then Yunobo's, Link's and Rudania's arrival and why Naboris left the desert. Naboris had been curious about what was going on with her two brothers and was coming mostly to keep them in check. She told them how Grumf arrived and about his missing artifact. She also explained his relationship with Floofy and Floofy's relationship with Trixie. She didn't go into too much detail about the tour of Naboris of course. She also mentioned Prince Sidon's brief visit. And of course Rudania's and Naboris pranking those two tourists by roaring at them to scare them.

"Naboris nearly scared the living spirit out of me! All of us either ended up laughing or either scolding one of our Divine Beasts for that one." She commented, then went on with the story. "I gave Grumf here a few pointers on our language on the way back with Naboris. I figured that way he could at least roll his sounds properly. We actually got swarmed by a few kids when we entered town. They seemed pretty interested in Floofy too. Especially when they found out he was like Maxilar."

Riju said "We noticed Vah Naboris leave when she did. I'm glad to hear it wasn't because of a problem. Or...at least not something that continued to be a problem. The news of that missing artifact is a little concerning. Not going to lie."

Grumf said "We did try to look for it Miss Lady Riju, ma'am. Teba and I were out for a whole night with Link, Medoh and Rudania looking for the thing. Apparently the beasts couldn't even pick it up so I don't think it came to this world with us."

Riju said "I don't know whether to be relieved or feel bad for your lack of a way home."

Grumf said "Thanks for the worry but if there was a way here I'm sure there's gotta be some way back."

"Hmm....At least he's in good spirits." Riju noted before continuing "Oh and....just Lady Riju is fine. Thanks. You don't need to make a long chain of politeness."

"Sorry." replied Grumf.

Buliara added in a bit of a snappy manner (since she just talked like that) "You should wait your turn next time too."

"Sorry." Grumf repeated.

He stared confusedly as the giant monster eventually crawled fully out of the mountain, revealing it to be some sort of giant lizard with really weird legs. Rubblus scratched his head while trying to figure out what in the name of Din that thing was. Now, it was too far away to really tell when Rudania had set loose his drones, but he spotted.. SOMETHING flying towards them from the direction the giant monster was.

Just then, Ferdinand suddenly ripped free of his grip and hid under a nearby rocky outcropping. Rubblus quickly went after him, but not because he wanted to hide. Because he didn't want Ferdinand getting away from him. Especially if the Lynel had even ACCIDENTALLY caused this.

Whatever the flying thing was, it cast a red beam of light down at the ground. At Ferdinand's question, Rubblus narrowed his eyes at him, before proceeding to peak out a little bit and get a glimpse at the drone. "It is some sort of.... flying, heavily armored.. thing." he described rather vaguely. He then turned back to Ferdinand to stare him down. "And for next time. I don't recommend you try running like that again. You wouldn't want me to think you're trying to escape when you don't mean to."

He turned back around, peeking out at the drone. He was considering trying to ground it, but he didn't trust Ferdinand to not run away as soon as he was distracted with doing that.

Ferdinand said in that same barely whispering voice "Why are you worried about me at a time like this? Don't you see everything is horrible right now?!"

The drone circled quite a few more times before Rudania assumed who he was looking for had moved on and started searching elsewhere. It was frustraiting when this happened. Little people were so freaking easy to loose!

Nothing the flying thing flying away Ferdinand said "We should get out of here before that thing comes back!"

Rubblus furrowed his brow at Ferdinand, frowning at him. "Run? And let that thing get away? You really are s.tupid. We've got to ground it and figure out what it is! While this might not be a part of Death Mountain I've seen before, it's still death mountain. I can feel it. If that THING is on MY mountain, want to know what it is. You should too. It might wander down into Lynel territory if we don't get rid of it." he huffed, using that last part as leverage to get Ferdinand to help him. Even though he was fairly confident he could do this on his own, it didn't hurt to have back-up and to keep Ferdinand occupied with something other than running away.

Ferdinand said "A-Are you implying that you want to PICK A FIGHT WITH THAT THING?! ALONE? YOU ARE IN-" before he could finish the word insane the drone was back as Rudania had heard the yelling through it. Ferdinand spat up some fear fire as he put his hands to his mouth to both try to cover that up and shut himself up.

Rubblus gave a gruff 'hmph' at him, not even flinching at Ferdinand's abrupt fire belch and instead looking back out when the drone came back. "Well, I'm only taking it on alone because the only other guy around is a mewling little kitten! STAY HERE!" he growled, then curled up and swiftly rolled out from under the outcropping.

He made a bee-line for a boulder he'd spotted just before taking off, stopping by it and uncurling so he could pick it up. Said boulder was bigger than his head, so... he could very easily hold it in one hand. Once he had it in hand, he turned to face the drone and yelled "HEY! OVER HERE!"

Ferdinand obediently stayed where he was though he did wonder for just a moment if he might be able to sneak off.

The drone of course fell for it since Rudania was not expecting aggression.

Rubblus waited until the thing seemed close enough, then just upped and chucked the rock at it. He was prepared to get another one or even just.. try to jump at it if that ended up not working.

Because it took Rudania by suprise it did end up working. As the thing started to fly out of control Ferdinand chucked a second rock at it from where he was. (His logic being that the fight had been instigated and the safest thing was to end it as fast as possible)

The drone crashed to the ground in a catastrophic failier. Some of its gears even fell out through a crack in its side.

Ferdinand waited several seconds stiff as a statue to see if it would take off again before asking "Is it....is it down?"

Meanwhile Rudania was rather insulted. He sent [YUNOBO! My drone just got attacked!]

[What were you doing with it?] Yunobo asked as there had already been a few times where one of the drones was taken out for being annoying.

Rudania and Yunobo had to long distance talk the situation out before coming to any conclusions but as things were explained Yunobo started to realize that maybe Rudania was right about this not being normal. He decided to go tell Bludo in case this weird person and their friend were going to be coming into the city.

Jessa of the Sheikah/Gerudo

Jessa put a reassuring hand on Grumf's arm. Sort of her silent way of saying "Even I made that mistake once, don't worry too much about it," and "Buliara's like that with everyone" sort of way. She turned her attention back to Riju.

"Thankfully, we were able to get Rudania and Medoh back under control. Both their handlers are still learning how to communicate with them, but are improving. Also, I should mention that Zelda's kitchen staff were grateful for our delivery of voltfruit for their stores. They wanted me to ask if we could send another harvest next year. They'll pay top rupees for it too." She reported, a small smug smile on her face. Though she had noticed the colorful banners and decorations already starting to go up in the town market. She knew what that meant: The Summer Nights Festival was starting - the first big event of the season. She never missed the nightly parties that came with it. She always made an appearance even if it wasn't for long thanks to her introverted nature. It was also a time for Maxilar to have a little fun since they used the rock ledges not far from the village (closer to the Gerudo Gateway stables actually) for horse races. The owners of the stables would often let the Gerudo woman borrow their horses for the races. They even provided the food for Maxilar since Jessa often helped with their own needs around the stables when she was on her way back from visiting her Dad

Riju noted "I'm glad our gift has pleased them. Hopefully that means Zelda is reassured just as I hoped."

She then took a moment to get Grumf's side of the story and ask him a few general questions about his bird and the world he came from before turning attention back to Jessa.

"I would continue this discussion but I should let you two go for now to enjoy the upcoming festival. I don't know if you'll have to get ready or what."

"Festival?" Grumf asked.

Riju told him "The Summer Nights Festival. You and Jessa showed up just in time. It'll be up and going in an hour or two then continue on through the night."

Jessa grinned a she stood up, adjusting her backpack as she did so. She bowed one more time to Riju before responding.

"Thank you Lady Riju. We'll just drop our things off at my place then go help get the festival ready for tonight." She told the younger woman before leading Grumf outside with Trixie on her heels.

"You're going to love the Summer Nights Festival, Grumf. It's the first big celebration of the summer. We do it the first full moon in the season. It lasts a whole week and goes all day and night. There's Sand Seal races, horse races out by the plateaus, all sorts of yummy food, and even combat demonstrations." Jessa told Grumf and stoped, hitting her face with her palm. "I should've asked Riju to invite Link and Zelda. I know Voe aren't allowed in the village, but I know Link will find some way to sneak in." She realized, Trixie yipping at her owner as if to say "Uh, DUH!" in Fox.

"Oh well, maybe I'll go ask her later. Come on, my house isn't too far from here. We can drop off our stuff and see where we're needed. Mom will have a food stand and knick nacks too, knowing her." She mused, thinking of what her mother sold for a living.

Rubblus watched the drone crash, not exactly all that appreciative of Ferdinand's help but he tolerated it for the moment. Once the thing had finally crashed, Rubblus waddled over to it, prodded it with the toe of his metallic sandal, then glanced up at Ferdinand and said "I believe so."

He looked back down at it and realized that this wasn't any sort of animal at all. It was a machine. (For, like Grumf's version of the Gorons, Rubblus' home actually had some functioning technology to it too. Not robots, of course, but he knew what gears usually tend to do.)

"It's not even a monster. It's some sort of flying machine. Who made it is the question, now." he noted, starting to take it apart and look at the parts it was made up of. Specifically, he was looking for some sort of insignia or something.

Ferdinand crept over to look at the object himself though he didn't touch it. "That metal looks....weird. Is it even metal?" he noted given the almost stonelike texture despite it being stronger then stone and shaped more the way metal was shaped (A.K.A. not showing much sign of having been carved the way stone might) Then he realized "Wait...if someone made this....are we about to be in trouble with whoever owns this thing?"

Rubblus said "I hope so. Perhaps HE'S behind whatever happened to bring us here. But don't think I'm completely dropping you as a suspect yet."

He stood back up, peering around at the mountainscape surrounding them. "I say we head towards whatever that big lizard creature was. Surely there's someone else around here trying to figure out what that thing is, and obviously they would head towards it to check it out. Plus.... that's where the flying thing came from." he finally decided, looking back towards Ferdinand.

Ferdinand was of course horrified. "YOU WANT TO GO TOWARDS THAT THING?! YOU ARE COMPLETELY OUT OF YOUR MIND! Do you have ANY idea how big something would have to be for us to see it poking out of the top of a volcano like that? We must be ANTS to that thing! Or at the very least some type of bug even if the size difference isn't quite that bad! Do you know what lizards do to bugs? DO YOU?! Here's a hint. They DON'T invite them to tea partys! ....Unless maybe they're planning to dunk the bugs in the tea. They EAT them! If you haven't caught my drift here!"

Jessa smiled, looking back at Grumf.

"Don't worry, Mom's used to me bringing home weird animals by now. But I did make sure she knew you and Floofy were coming in my letter. She knows how to take care of monsters thanks to lots of experience with Maxilar. We'll get him in his pile of dirt, grab something to eat and go check out the start of the festival." She told the Goron, a smug grin on her face.
"We also keep what you gorons would consider gormet rocks on hand in case of Goron visitors. They often come to town and Mom likes to be prepared. Her name's Raleona by the way." She added, leading him to an adobe home near the Southeast Sand Seal stables. You could hear them barking from the home, but Jessa liked the noise. She could be close to Nabu here. The house in question was decorated with woven decorations for the Summer Nights Festival, along with the typical weavings of Vah Naboris and Nabooru, the first hero of the Gerudo, and of course Lady Urbosa herself. Most Gerudo homes had these images year round.

"MOM! I'M HOME!" Jessa called as she opened the door, a redheaded woman poking her head out of the kitchen where you could smell the cooking salts and spices. Her face lit up when she saw her daughter.

"Jessa! It's about time! I heard from the kids you were back! Maxilar's stable is all set up for you." Raleona greeted, pulling her hybrid daughter into a hug before seeing the Goron.

"And you must be Grumf. And I'm guessing this handsome vure here is Floofy?" Raleona asked, nodding to Floofy and Grumf as Trixie ran into the house, settling on her bed with a cute little yawn to take a nap.

Grumf kind of chuckled at Floofy being called handsome. That didn't happen often. Luckily Floofy didn't seem to pick up what the chuckle was about. Grumf continued "Yeah. I'm Grumf, that's Floofy. I'm guessing you're Jessa's mom right?"

Floofy investigated one of the lights and got his face a little too close basically flashing himself when he pecked it. Noting the kargarok's shaking his head afterwards Grumf told him "If you don't like the light don't put your face up against it you weirdo."

Raleona chuckled and smiled at the Goron as she went back to the kitchen for a moment to check on whatever was cooking. From the smell of it, it was gormet salt grilled meats.

"Yup! But you can just call me Raleona. Or Rae for short. Everyone does. Either one works fine. Anyways, I'm making lunch if you want something to eat before going out to see Nabu. Oh and Jessa, I made sure there was a fresh pile of mud and dirt in Maxilar's stall out back. Lunch will be ready in five minutes, so that gives you both time to clean up and get settled." Raleona told the young Goron, seeing what Floofy was poking at. The lights gave off a slight blueish glow thanks to the material they were made out of. Jessa saw it too.

"Those lamps are made with luminous ore. We use them to light everything around here. The gold light comes from what filters we can use to make them seem more like daylight." Jessa explained, smiling at Floofy's curiosity about their little gizmos. "They're Sheikah tech by the way. One of my Great Uncles or something invented them about two centuries ago."

Grumf noted "I guess if you have access to sheikah tec why not right? I mean, you got a cool thing. Why not use it. I don't know if we have luminous ore where I come from. Though...maybe we do and it's just not named or called something else. Side note. I'm not going to be expected to eat what you're going to be eating right? I mean, our species don't exactly eat the same thing."

Rubblus irritably bared his teeth at Ferdinand. "Yeah yeah yeah, I GET it already! And frankly I think it's pathetic! What are you, a Lynel or a mouse!? You can TELEPORT for pete's sake! if that thing comes after us, then YOU'LL just zap us out of harm's way. You can do that, can't you?" he growled, more in a demanding tone than an inquisitive one.

You know, not even to mention the fact that if a lynel gets hit mid spell cast it sort of ruins the attempt. Takes a few seconds, you know. Ok, now I'm just rambling."

Rubblus punched the ground in a move similar to what Bludo often does, but this was more inspired by annoyance than anything else. "Look. Do you wish to find out what happened or not? Why there's a giant lizard inside of a volcano? Where that flying machine came from? Hmm?" he questioned, then pointed at Death Mountain. "We will ONLY find that stuff out if we actually LOOK AROUND! Dangerous or not!" he growled.

Ferdinand actually wasn't all that curious about the lizard. As far as he was concerned the lizard could keep the stupid mountain. But he was a little worried he was about to get pummeled if he admitted that. So he just sort of whined a barely audible "Ok."

Rubblus narrowed his eyes at the Lynel, not really getting a very reassuring vibe from that barely audible little mumble he did.

The Goron marched over to Ferdinand, giving him a prod towards the direction of the volcano the giant lizard crawled into. "Alright you. Mush." he ordered, set on not letting Ferdinand out of his immediate sight. The he more quietly grumbled "Of course, when something nuts happens, I get stuck with a lynel. And not even a proper warrior lynel. A pink lynel."
