The One Tool Drawing Challenge.
Warning: I am bad at explaining.
Hello everyone! Hope your day is going well.
I had an idea for a drawing challenge that is designed (hopefully) to help improve your art skills, so thought I'd post it before I forget. It's where I'll post a prompt, usually a word, for you to create a drawing from. A bit like Inktober, but weekly. The drawing can be in digital or traditional, whichever you prefer.
But here's the challenging part.
You can only use one tool. For example: if you're doing a drawing digitally, then you can only use, say, the airbrush for the entire art piece. Even the eraser is out of bounds. Same principle with traditional art, too.
A few things to know:
I'll post a prompt every Friday or Saturday.
You don't have to do every prompt.
Doesn't have to be a full on scene! It can just be a sketch of you so wish.
Please do not reply directly to this or the prompt posts.
Have fun! :D
Any questions? Ask them below!
Please do not reply until you see the first prompt post.
Decided to give this a go, did a little digital fall tree for the challenge with the charcoal brush on Krita!
I think this is a fun idea! I need to improve m digital art skills anyways
Tracking :p
*Screms* Why would you limit me this way?! XD either way I think I'll have to give this a shot XD
I am unable to say no to this XD I shall get started soon!
This sounds like fun. I'm going to try this, since I've been wanting to try new art tools.
Interesting challenge! I might try.
I will definately try!
Tracking! (just a bit confused, does it mean that we can only use ink for this week's prompt?)
Alrighty! Thank you!
You say "ink", I say "Sammy Lawrence"
Honestly, this'll just give me ideas, and how can I say no to ideas?
I dunno man, I'm just wanting to doodle stuff, haha
I had to! xD
I mean, he's full of ink!
I could've done other characters, but the "no eraser" part is what stumped me cos I use the eraser a lot.
(Yeah, he's one of the characters! but the challenge would've gotten boring if it was just him. Pretty much, if it was in the series where he's from, it was a passable attempt for the challenge. Hence why mine was all over the place, lol)
Tracking!
Here is my INK!
I don't know what it is; maybe some sort of inky squid monster? I made it using only the Ink Pen on ibisPaint X. This made me realize how much I love to use the bucket tool, so it was hard doing something without it.
Tracking. Might try this later.
Ooh! I'll participate!
Imma edit this once I'm done :)
(Does the undo button count as a brush...?)
Krita brush called Sketching-3 Leaky...I think it's basically a quill XD I really liked the way the curves got thicker…but I guess the lines of the squid are too squiggly for it to show.
I like this idea, especially that it’s a weekly thing instead of daily. Might do more :)
(Oops...will take that into account for the next one :'D just pretend the arms don't look as uniform as they do.)
Awwwwwww. This looks really fun! Not sure if I'll do this week's or not (just got done with Inktober and am burnt out) but I'll track this thread and hop in whenever I can x')
Edit: Disregard everything. I made a thing x')
A lil' inky winged.. doggo.. thing? I made this using only the elipse tool. Pretty fun! (I couldn't help but start already. I like this idea too much.)
Thank you! Very drippy yes yes. Was kind of a pain to do since.. only using ellipses. But I wanted to do something f u n k y x')
Inky Night Fury.
Thanks! It is kind of spooky XD
That's amazing! I love how textured the feather is.
Cool!
I once had some ink that you could use a feather to write with, but I am not sure where it went. I think you had to mix the ink with water, and I remember adding too much. So instead, I just drew the feather digitally. It also reminds me of a pine tree branch. It was made using the "Rake pressure" brush on Adobe Fresco,
Thank you! I'm definitely going to use it for feathers again.
so what's this week's challenge going to be?
So anything from Transformers to ET?
Question:
Would it be cheating to paint over unwanted lines with say... the background color (default being white) as a means of erasing? (ew e,)
Hallelujuah !!!!!!
That's awesome! Although... Why does it have a flag on it? XD
This week's prompt is... Ink!
This can be interpreted however you want. It can be that you only use ink, or it can mean that the drawing is of something inky (eg. squid). Be as creative as you want!
