You're welcome.

You're welcome.

They need to have other minigames that allow for different dragons to be used.  If only Fireball Frenzy worked, then you could use your Speed Stingers and Terrible Terrors for.  Have like Speed Stinger racing, which would be like actual racing is for today's sports: on a flat plane in any kind of shape for the course.

I would always like the option to earn trophies, as it stands Thunder Run is the only place I can earn trophies so that there are multiple ways to be with your dragons and have fun.

Speed Stinger racing! Yes! This has been asked for since the release of Speed Stingers. Not sure why it's not a thing already; it'd give players more incentive to buy one.

Ginrei froze my subject...

The whole point here though is that having to send your dargons on stable quests just to get babies to teen or teens to adult takes many times longer than using AA, at least for the former. By using AA you could get a baby dragon to at least teen within about an hour but sending them on stable quests to do it will take DAYS, possibly over a week depending on how active a player you are. I haven't been very active lately since I've been busy trying to find a job and also playing games that I find more interesting now since SoD has been $crewing us so hard lately. They are literally taking away incentives to play the game at this point... do they not even realize this? It's so stupid! They may as well lock the lab doors and throw away the key because no one is going to play AA anymore since it's not worth it and isn't even good for killing time. Just close Alchemy Adventure at this point, SoD... seriously you may as well...

Another thing is that the release of new quests is SO. EFFING. SLOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!! This is a constant complaint for me because I have done EVERYTHING. All the regular quests and all the expansion quests; I've done them all. If there were some decent repeatable quests, other than that stupid worthless one from Wartihog or whatever his name is, that would be one thing but since there are none, even though this suggestion has been made multiple times by multiple people, doing quests to level up dragons isn't a viable option either for veteran players like myself who have no quests to do... Which is rediculous because almost every MMORPG on the interweb (would say planet but...) has repeatable quests. Sure repeatable quests don't give you a whole lot of XP most of the time on these games, but at least it gives you something to do. For veteran players, there is literally nothing to do to keep us interested... except some people race or try to beat the new levels of Tactics, which I'm given to understand is a pain cuz the dodge rate of enemies in higher levels is absurdly high... not to mention all the cheaters that speed hack to win races... SoD is really shooting themselves in the foot with this stuff. The things that should be fun and interesting are either so easy they get boring fast or so hard and don't offer enough reward for the effort that they just aren't really worth it...

If they want us to spend money on this game, maybe they should consider making it more user friendly and stop $crewing over all the players with this stupid BS. I get that they're in some finacial trouble and are stretched thin in terms of manpower, but that's no reason to be pulling this kind of crap trying to force us to spend money on the game for age up tickets by making it so absurdly hard to get a baby dragon to even teen (lvl 5). You want people to spend their money on your game? Then MAKE THE GAME BETTER SO WE ACTUALLY GET OUR MONEY'S WORTH OUT OF IT!!!!! THAT is how you encourage people to spend money on your game. You make it worth our wile to do so by giving your users good stuff that they actually want to see in game. Instead of releasing new dragons/titan forms that no one really likes or wants, focus on fixing what needs to be fixed and enhancing the quality of the game play overall. THEN you can give us cool new dragons and titans that actually look good because, if I may be frank, some of the most recent titans... they're outright hideous... just being honest... and stop making it where there are colors on the dragons we can't change while you're at it! Either that or, better yet, give us a fourth color option on some of the dragons. The devs keep on making the game to where it's not even worth playing. Do they not understand that they are literally committing career suicide with all the crap they keep $crewing us with? It's rediculous! Literally the only good thing they've given us recently that a lot of people wanted is the boar pit... and I am slow to count that because a) it's only available for a limited time and b) it's yet another GEM PURCHASE ONLY ITEM! UGH! *rolling my eyes* Like we don't already have enough of that; especially with farm/hideout decor and animal pens and the animals to go in them. smh Rant over... for now anyway...

I hatched a Dramillion and another Nadder near the beginning of October and used just stable quests to get them to an adult and got both of them to an adult yesterday. Insanely ridiculous that it took me that long just to get 2 dragons to adult. When AA and ER gave more xp it wouldn't have taken nearly that long. Nothing I can do about it I guess. I'm just going to have to adjust my method of raising dragons and hope that they reverse their decision someday or add in something to replace AA and ER.

Edit: I checked the dates that I hatched the Dramillion and Nadder, Dramillion was hatched October 10, Nadder on October 11, so it took me 2 weeks to get them to an adult. Not as bad as I intially thought but still a lot longer than it used to take. I started hatching a Fire Terror today so that will probably be 2 more weeks of trying to get a dragon to an adult.

And just for the record, there are a lot of kids on this forum and in game, and cursing will not help your cause.  Staying calm, voicing your concerns, and having a conversation about things will work a lot better in the long run.  Showing respect even when you are upset is something that you will need to work on.

Excuse you

I didn't curse... I used words I can say in a flipping church and not get ugly looks. If you can say it in church without people glaring at you then it's not a curse word. And frankly, the SoD team doesn't deserve respect after all the crap they've pulled on us lately. Especially considering they did this without warning and we had to go in search of a straight answer to find out the truth about what was going on. So you can climb down off your high horse and go fly a dragon. I'd tell you what I really think about this little mini lecture but that's the most gentle way I can put it. I'm in my twenties so you can keep that kind of advice to yourself.

I know you're upset and I competely understand why. I'm just as upset as you about this but please don't take it out on drums. He was only trying to help. I looked back at some of your posts on this thread and you have used cuss words in some of them, the p word and s word for example.(I don't cuss so this is as specific as the examples get) I'm sorry if the people you go to church with don't view those words as cuss words but they /are/ commonly understood as cuss words and I have seen the admins warn people about their language for using those words. Also, drums wasn't trying to insult or upset you by reminding you about the forum rules. We all need reminders or help from time to time, no matter what our age is. :)

Did I sneeze? I'm sorry.

Frankly...

Ephesians 4:29-32   29 Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.  30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.  31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice.  32 Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.

...You should not say any cuss word.  But not only that, you are supposed to build up others.  Respect all no matter what they do to you, because if someone sees you as someone who gets angry at a game, do you think they will listen to you if you try to tell them about Jesus?  Cussing at all, you are grieving the Holy Spirit of God.  We are to let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander and malice be put away from us.  We are to be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.

There are actually funny alternatives you can use.  If I am angry at something or frustrated, I look to make myself laugh or others laugh.  Because the one of the best thing to do in a bad situation to make it less bad is to lighten the mood and have someone laugh at you; but I will be laughing with them.

Christian Alternative Cuss Words - Tim Hawkins

All I'm trying to say is that people will listen to you more effectively if you do not portray yourself as crossing the line with anger.  I am not saying you cannot be angry, because even Christ was angry when they were selling items in the temple.

Ephesians 4:25-27  25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.  26 Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,  27 and give no opportunity to the devil.

We can be angry at things, but we can be tactful with our words that meet the occasion.  With our anger at something, we can present ourselves as someone respectful, give reasons for our position, and show others that we disagree with something but can show why we are angry.  We won't be angry just for the sake of being angry.  We will use our anger for good use to change something.

If you treat things in the church building as something not important, then you are not respecting the right things.

---

I'm 22, Junior in college.

I am going for a major in Animation at a Purdue school in Computer Graphics Technology, which is well known for their technology degrees.

I have taken 3 computer modeling classes and this semester taking a Game Development class learning Unreal Engine 4, the same engine powering Fortnite.

Before going to college, I looked at SoD and thought it was a poor game overall.  Graphics, programming, you name it.

If you knew half as much as I do, you would have much more appreciation for Game Devs of all levels.

For just one asset of a game, here's the pipeline that I am currently using:

Sketching and concept art, research, model my creation in Autodesk Maya, UV snapshot (The "skin" of the model), import the picture into Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator, paint the UVs, export the UV as a jpeg, go back into Maya, open the Hypersader (that holds all the materials that you can apply to models), apply the imported jpeg to the material, check to make sure all the lines line up (If I am just doing color, no problem.  But I am a pattern to my texture, like a brick texture, I am currently working on making sure every seam of my model the bricks line up.  Believe me, a lot harder than it sounds), set up a camera, and take a final render.

That's just the modeling part

Now, export the model as a .fbx to keep all the materials and painted UVs attached to the model.  Open Unreal Engine (which btw if you play Fortnite, you already have access to Unreal Engine, just have to download it.  Just open the Unreal Engine tab in your Epic Games' launcher.)  Import the .fbx.  Make sure everything travels with the static mesh.  Place the mesh, and then check to make sure the character cannot pass through the object.  Check the collision mesh.  If there are holes, things should pass through.  If it is a solid wall, then it is not supposed to pass through.  If anything here is not right, take the model back into Maya, check the collision mesh, fix it, import it back into Unreal Engine, and finally place the static mesh.

I haven't even touched the programming part of Unreal Engine, then the lightning, content, cinematics, animation, just to name a few things you can do in Unreal Engine.

There are a ton of things that just go into one asset in a game.  Now, SoD, uses the Unity 3D engine, but the fundamental things in game engines are the same.

All I am saying, is you don't know what goes on in designing, producing, and maintaining a game.  If you had researched first how much actually goes into a game, I believe you would have a different tone about how your view SoD.

I now see SoD as a good game.  Not a great game, but a good game.

For my midterm project, I spent 9 total hours and got this:

Which by the way, I got a perfect score on.  Learned how to do my own textures, experimented, and learned a new modeling technique in making round tires with bending a flat tread in a complete circle.  2 hours researching, 5 hours modeling, 1 hour painting UVs and setting up the render, 1 hour working on the Project Summary for the assignment.

Here is a render of my latest project:

My next project is to model a '67 Ford Mustang Fastback.

If it takes me 5 hours to model a low-poly (low graphics) Model-T, then guess how long it will take to do a Thunderdrum with painted UVs, animated, and programmed for idle motions, Thunder Run, Fireball Frenzy, normal flying, gliding, stationary flying, feeding animations, playing animations, gathering items animations.

If you have all of this pm, ShamiraStrider, thank you very much.  For anyone reading this pm, thank you.

You are amazing with animation. I wouldn't even know where to begin on something like what you've done. Imo, you could work for a video/online game company or for a movie company.

Would it not be so funny that if things go full circle... I end up working on this game?  XD  I mean, it is quite possible with the career I have chosen.  I would like to work in movies, but video games have peeked my interest in equal amount.

That would actually be really funny. It'd be a cool story to tell as well: "I started out playing SoD, went to college and majored in Animation and ended up getting a job at SoD." You'd probably become a celebrity in game and on the forum because you started out playing the game and ended up working there. XD

With my background as a player, I would be a perfect person for any PR relations to the player because I would be a player to help Game Dev and Admins.

Now, this has me seriously thinking... I wonder if they have a way I can intern and actually see if I could work for them?

That's true. Someone who has spent time playing the game would be a very good person to have working on SoD.

I don't know. I know others have posted that question on the forum before but I don't remember what answers they got. The best thing to do would probably be to pm Brynjolf and see if he has any info that would help you or email support.

If you're in your 20s, then you should be better at controlling your anger. I'm also in my 20s and I think Drums' is as well. I'm not religious but I try to live by the natural morals of society and the humane treatment of others. It's just a kid's game. It's one thing to rant, which is fine, but you have to remember that this forum is mainly for kids, not adults. So, if you want to use it, you have to remember that young kids are reading your posts. You're setting an example of behavior by how you conduct yourself as an adult. Besides, it's not an effective way to influence the game developers to take you seriously.

I still use Eel Roast and the "eel feeding/playing/egg feeding method" for the first 5 levels... (Tip: Only play 1 level of ER then exit and repeat, this way you earn 18 XP for each game. Otherwise, the game reduces the XP if you continue on to the next level, essentially making you work harder for less XP for every level you beat.)

As for the Teen levels, those are knocked out with winning 3-4 battles by switching at the end. And with how glitched the battle servers are these days, it's not that difficult to activate duplicate/triplicate battles for multiple XP if you really need it.

I don't hatch duplicate breeds, mostly because I find that navigating/using just 1 of each breed is more than enough. I don't really have a need/desire to level up multiple dragons, so the recent XP changes aren't something that I even noticed. I'm sorry for those of you that relied on the ER/AA methods in the past and now must change your gameplay in order to progress further in the game. Good luck and remember to have fun...

Final Word

Let me end this argument with this last thing and then this topic of conversation needs to be over and done with. Please don't respond to this.

As much as I would love to read you lot the riot act about how I neither care for nor intend to take any of your "advice" to heart, instead allow me to leave you with some practical advice. When dealing with someone whose frontal lobe clearly hasn't fully developed yet (in other words, they have emotional and impulse control issues because the frontal lobe of the human brain which houses those functions doesn't fully develop until age 25) one thing you do not want to do is try to give them "advice" on how they should be expressing themselves or behaving.

Why? Because all that is going to do is throw a nice big pile of gasoline, rocket fuel and fresh tinder right into the path of an already out of control wildfire. Not only will you just make the person even angrier than they already were, said person is then going to redirect that anger onto you. With some people it's better to let them get their rage out of their system in whatever way they see fit, be it by slaming doors or going on a semi-demonic rant, wait for them to sufficiently cool off and then, and ONLY THEN should you approach with your so called "advice." Otherwise you're just going to make the situation even worse and prolong their rage. As you all just did. The only time you should ever step in before a person with these issues has calmed down is if their rage sets them on a physically destructive war-path, punching walls, kicking furniture, etc. In that case it's best to redirect that anger into something else like a punching bag and let them physically and mentally exhaust themselves lest those angry fists get turned onto you which can happen if you aren't careful.

It is a small miracle, frankly, that I didn't go off on all of you and make an even bigger fool of myself because after reading all that crap I was about ready to blow up like a hand grenade that landed in a field of active land mines. Not exaggerating; my anger really can be that explosive and destructive when provoked too much and I am far from the only person with such an issue. The only reason this did not happen is because I went on a rant while I was taking a shower and that helped me calm down a bit so I could think more clearly.

In short, it's best not to poke an already angry bear, even if you have the best intentions, unless you want to be mawled to death.

My deepest and sincerest apologies, Your Grace. Sometimes we forget that the rules don't apply to royalty. Thank you for reminding us simpletons where we stand. I can only hope you will find it in your heart to forgive me.

I did not know this about you, so I am sorry if I caused any harm.  But I had no way of knowing you are like this because it is very difficult to find these details out online unless the person asks.  Most of the time, if a person asks another person about this when they are not friends and have never met, they won't answer the question and say, "I don't know you."

One thing you should know about me, if I feel I am attacked or something is said against me is not true or if someone is incorrect, I will defend myself or say what is true or correct someone if I think I can help the situation.

You did not know that about me, now did you?

So, I didn't know something about you, you didn't know something about me.  That all got thrown into the pot which boiled over.

I had been waiting for a response from you from my above post.  I would like to hear one from you, either on here or by pm if you don't want to post on this thread anymore.

Again, all I was doing was defending myself and correcting you by saying it is not easy to just simply create a quest in SoD.  There are a ton more things involved than just writing it and applying it to the game.  I was trying to inform you so you could make a better judgment.  After reading you could still have the same judgment, I was only trying to help you understand the situation better because I am currently helping to make a game in college.

She's stating the fact that she's under the age of 25 and has yet to fully develop the frontal lobe of her brain (which applies to everybody under the age of 25) and in her opinion, it justifies her behavior... I'll have to definitely remember this excuse the next time I need one. lol

I'm sorry if I what I said upset you. I was just trying to help. I would never purposefully post something to upset someone. That's just not the kind of person I am. Any advice I give, I give because I genuinely want to help.

I'd like to leave some food for thought before this thread d.ies. If you choose to completely ignore it then that's totally up to you but I do feel I need to say something about this.

Have you ever thought what's going to happen when you turn 25 and still have a problem controlling your anger? I can guarrantee you that your temper won't just go away when you turn 25 because weaknesses we have don't just magically go away. We have to /work/ at making ourself a better person. It's like someone who is trying to break a drug, alcohol, or cigeratte addiction. They can't just say "Well, this will magically go away on its own." They have to recognize there's a problem and work on it. They also have to work to stay sober because once you've been addicted it's very easy to slide back into that life. The things they were addicted to are weaknesses for them that they must work to avoid. We all have weaknesses and some of those weaknesses are aspects of our personality(being too critical of someone, having a bad temper, ect). We just have to acknowledge them and work on them.

Again, not trying to upset you or anything. I really do just want to help. I hope that there's no bad blood between us and we can just move past this. :)

Sorry, but for at least one of you that will be impossible. I have a low tolerance and patience level in general; patience has never been my virtue. But there is one thing that sets of my hairtrigger temper from 0 to Nuclear in the blink of an eye and one among you has just pushed that button big time. The only reason I am restraining myself is because I don't want to get banned from this site, which if I let off probably would happen. I am so far past angry  I can't even see it in my rear-view-mirror. I honestly scare myself when I am that mad because I do not know what I am capable of doing in that state of blind rage. I am not exaggerating when I say I had a minor seizure in the shower because I was so mad and the anger just kept mounting the more I thought about it to the point I was hyperventalating, couldn't breathe, my arms and legs went numb, I lost control of my fingers and blacked out and fell to the floor. I literally felt like my throat and insides were burning. And yes, if severe enough emotional stress of that magnitude can cause neurons in the brain to misfire which is what casues seizures. If I had a brain condition I could have had an aneurysm and died so it is not a joke that those comments made by that person literally got me that angry. This is exactly why you shouldn't intentionally provoke someone who has anger issues because you can cause them to hurt themselves or others. It is not a joke so do not treat it as such with your stupid sarcastic remarks.

If I am doing something wrong, I would like to get better.  What do I need to work on?

I replied above that I meant no harm but was only trying to point something out.

There have been a lot of people on the forums for a long time talking bad about the game, me included.  Now that I have taken classes in modeling and game development, I have a new appreciation for what goes on in making a game.  Some of what I said had a basis for me realizing that there is a lot that goes into making a halfway decent game.  With your very voiced opinions on the matter triggered me to have to reply.

If there is anything that I could help with, I always want to help people I meet.

I'm not at all trying to be rude when I say this but I sincerely think that maybe you should seek out some medical help for your anger. It's very scary to hear you describe your anger in this way, especially so because you admit that you even scare yourself. Before you get upset and think I'm calling you mentally unstable or something, let me reassure that I'm not. There's absolutely nothing wrong with admittting you need to seek out medical help for something, in fact, it takes a very mature person to do so. I would hate to see you do something in a state of rage that you can't take back and might even go to jail for or even end up d.ead because your anger is so bad that you have a heart attack. With that being said, it might be best to let this thread d.ie before it totally erupts and gets negative attention from the admins.

Just the fact that you actually blacked out from rage due to a simple online forum post should be terrifying to everybody around you, including yourself. This reaction is beyond what's considered normal, whether you're under the age of 25 or not. And I hate to say it, but that excuse won't hold up in court after you've snapped and murdered someone for taking your favorite parking spot. Powers is right, you most definitely need to seek professional help. She's just a lot nicer than I am about saying it.

My sarcasm tends to reflect my low tolerance for this type of entitlement behavior, especially in adults. I didn't have to reply in the first place and probably shouldn't have. I've never been very good at sugar-coating my words to other adults and I had forgotten for a moment that there are kids reading this. If I could edit that sentence, I would. I apologize for using such a graphic example.

I probably shouldn't be getting into this this, but...

I know that what the game has done to the XP is very annoying, I'm  annoyed too, believe me.  It's really poor communication.  However, as annoying as it is, I learned to realize the game for what it is: just a game.  Sure, you do have to pay for a few things, but there's the option of not having to pay and succeed withou that.  Shamira, I know you're upset, and I completely understand, and I'm sorry to hear that you're frustrated, and you have evry right to be, as I am a bit frustrated too.  I'm also in my early 20s, not even 25 yet.  As annoying and upsetting as this whole thing seems, I've learned to go along with it.  I stopped paying for my membership starting about a little over a month ago.  I recently leveled up a baby Flightmare into a teen, then an adult.  It does take more time now, but it's really worth the effort, in the end.  It might be harder for you to go just "go along with it," so I'll leave it up to you.

One last thing: I'm sure the users here reminding you of the forum rules aren't trying to upset you.  It may seem that way.  Believe me, I don't like it when people in real life let me know when I'm doing something that may be wrong.  However, I don't think their intention was to provoke you or add fuel to the fire.  They were just trying to set a friendly reminder of the forum rules as polite as they could.

In the end, I hope you have a good day. :)

. Name: Emily. I've also been called Ember and Bird Girl as nicknames by people I know.

. Gender: Female

. State: California

. Age: Old enough to know better XD

Birthday: February 1 (Aquarius power!)

. Hair Color: Blonde ( though most of my SoD vikings as well as Raineir my OC have some shade of brown)

. Favorite color(s): Purple and green

. Favorite Gemstone: Amethyst.  It is my birthstone, after all.  Plus, it's purple/violet!

. Favorite movie(s): How to Train Your Dragon, definitely. Also, probably Pirates of the Caribbean (the first one) would be my favorite live action.

. Favorite TV shows: Dreamworks Dragons, Top Gear (until the 23rd season), Hawaii 5-0 (not really anymore, it totally went downhill for me the most recent seasons), Modern Family, Lone Star Law, Gilligan's Island (60s show, my dad watched it when he was younger and introduced it to me), Avatar: The Last Airbender

Favorite food(s): CHOCOLATE, anything Reeses, and my mom's spaghetti

. Pets: A cat, two Scottie dogs, and two chickens (both hens)

. Favorite animal: Oh, where do I start? I'll do top 5 in no particular order: domestic cat, birds, elephant, sea turtle, domestic dog, and dragons. Oh, that was six. It's hard choosing just five!

Hobbies: Birding, birdwatching, exploring the outdoors, HTTYD, and doodling random stuff

Superhero alias: Might as well, since I created one for myself back in high school. Peregrine, able to fly at fast speeds, has super strength (raptor talons have a STRONG grip), hawk-like vision, and can talk to animals, mostly birds.

Fun facts about me: I have a huge passion for nature, especially birds.  I'm not afraid to touch or hold bugs, insects, amphibians, and reptiles, including snakes.

Hogwarts House (according to Pottermore): HUFFLEPUFF!

About me (in SoD)

. I joined SoD on: March 5, 2017.  I created my forum account on January 27, 2018.

. Main Viking(s): nakataGreenThumbs and Seerboldraven

. Main Dragon(s): nakataGreenThumbs: Lightning the Shockjaw, Skyhopper the Titan Deadly Nadder, and Claw the Sand Wraith. Seerboldraven: Flash the Titan Skrill and Silvermist the Flightmare

. Clan: The Light Fury Racers

Trophies: 393. So far, all my trophies are from racing, which, for me, took many races. I've gotten a lot better, but I'm in no way the best.

. Main Dragon for Racing: My Sand Wraith, Claw. Sand Wraiths may not have Toothless' speed or acceleration rate, or the speed of dragons like the Skrill and Razorwhip, but they have a very good top speed at 8.8, and they have a better acceleration and turn rate. This, in my opinon, makes them one of the best racing dragons.  For my second main viking, Seerboldraven, it's Silvermist the Flightmare. Not quite as good acceleration and turn rate as the Sand Wraith, but the speed is the same (8.8), and the turn rate is still good for a race.

Main Dragon for Battle: My Whispering Death, Thorntail. I also use my Changewing, Ghost. For Seerboldraven, it's Whisper the Whispering Death.

My code: EZEPJ4, just in case you want to be friends but can't find me in-game.

Random Fact I just came up with: If dragons were birds, let's face it: the Night Fury would either be a Peregrine Falcon because both are really fast, or a Barn Owl because both are stealthy and have a hair-raising screech.

I am fully against Hacking in SoD!

This is nakataGreenThumbs, my main SoD viking, with one of her first and main dragons, Skyhopper the titan Deadly Nadder. The screenshot was taken while Skyhopper was shaking her head XD

Proud member of The Light Fury Racers!

Here's the story about how my OC viking Raineir met her dragon:

Berk was not an easy place to live. It was cold, it snowed there most of the year, finding food was not always an easy task, and, yes, it was cold. Oh, and the almost constant dragon raids didn't help matters either. To Berk's vikings, it was either kill or be killed, no other option. Well, except for one viking girl. Much like Berk's heir, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, Raineir Feralsome was considered an "odd one out." Except, instead of wanting to prove herself by killing a dragon like Hiccup, she didn't like to kill. She thought there had to be another way like Valka, Hiccup's 'dead' mother. One day, Raineir was exploring the forest in Raven Point. She liked to explore the land of Berk, learning about its geographical features. Seemingly out of nowhere, a screech of pain rang out. Alarmed, Raineir ran towards the source of the noise. Coming upon a cove (yes, THAT cove), she looked down and saw a small group of what appeared to be hunters, since they were holding spears and bows and arrows. They were surrounding what looked like a Skrill. The poor dragon was in bad shape. There were wounds on its sides, and had trouble fighting the hunters off in her weakened state. Raineir quickly climbed down and made herself known. "Hey!" She shouted, "step away from the Skrill, and none of you will get hurt!" She drew her sword and moved in front of the dragon. The leader stared at her, then laughed. "You?" He said, "a mere girl willing to fight to defend a beast?" She didn't flinch, only glaring more fiercly at him. Making up her mind, she charged at him, sword ready, not to kill, but to possibly knock him and his goonies out. As she was about to do so, a a small bolt of lightning came from... the sword? The lightning hit one of the hunters, instantly knocking him out. Surprised, Raineir looked at her sword in shock, then glared at the leader again. Not wanting to become the next target, he and the rest of his goonies ran away fast. Once they were gone, she turned towards the Skrill, taking medical supplies out of her satchel. The Skrill looked at her in shock, obviously surprised to witness a human protecting a dragon. Raineir put her hand out. The Skrill seemed hesitant, but then she put her snout gently on the girl's outstretched hand. Raineir set to work on cleaning and bandaging the dragon's wounds. She decided to name her dragon Flash. Flash, once fully healed, let Raineir become her rider. Because Raineir had saved Flash, Flash would never stop protecting her from any threat. They're more than just friends; they're family, and will always be loyal to each other, no matter what. This story happened about a month or so before Hiccup discovered Toothless.

Here's how Raineir met Scout:

Raineir was having a pretty good day. Hiccup woke up from his coma a few days ago and was getting used to his prosthetic, and the war between the dragons and Berkians was finally over. She went to go get some fish for Flash's dinner, and aside from nearly tripping over Fungus, Mildew's sheep, and listening to Mildew complain about that, not much happened with that. Upon arriving home, she set the basket of fish in front of Flash (Flash stayed with Raineir and sometimes slept in Raineir's room instead of the stables) who promptly started eating happily. Raineir heard a tiny squeak come from somewhere. Confused, she looked around for the location and source of the noise. It sounded like a Terrible Terror. Flash suddenly stopped eating and growled at her fish basket. "Flash, what-," Raineir peered inside and out flew a pink and yellow Terrible Terror with reddish brown horns and back spines. Flash roared in alarm and growled at the intruder. "Whoa! Calm down, girl. It's just a little Terrible Terror," Raineir tried to calm her down. She held her hand to the little dragon, who looked defensive. "Hey, it's ok, little guy." the terror growled at that. "Oh, I'm sorry! You're a girl, then." Happily, the dragon nudged Raineir's hand. "I think I'll name you... Scout! What do you think, do you like that name?" Scout squeaked happily at that. Soon enough, Flash warmed up to the little newcomer, though was still sometimes annoyed by the little dragon's antics and 'singing.' Raineir soon trained Scout to search/scout out objects with hand signals. Her new friend warmed up to Raineir's parents and fellow dragon riders/friends pretty quickly (Snotlout is an on and off case).

How Raineir met Claw:

It was a fairly stormy day on Berk, with rain coming down in plentiful amounts, though no thunder or lightning. Raineir was riding Flash on their evening flight, despite the weather. They landed in the cove, when a loud roar was heard. It sounded like a roar of distress. "Deja Vu," Raineir said. This was what happened right before she found Flash. She climbed back on Flash and they flew into the forest, towards the source of the roar. In a large clearing was a purple... Sand Wraith? It was a Sand Wraith! The poor guy looked lost and confused, so naturally Raineir wanted to help. Cautiously and slowly, she walked up to the dragon. The Sand Wraith turned around and noticed her standing a few feet away from him. Alarmed, he got ready to attack if necessary. He growled loudly at her. Flash got into her attacking position as well, ready to defend her sister if needed. Raineir calmed Flash down. "It's ok, don't worry, girl. I got this." Flash calmed down, though she still looked wary. Surprised at the bond between a dragon and a human, the Sand Wraith seemed to calm down a little as well, though still a bit defensive. Raineir then noticed the scars on the dragon's right side, as well as the fact that the left wing looked broken. She slowly held her hand out to him. "Hey there, boy. You must have had a tough time with humans, huh? I can help you with that wing of yours, if you let me. I won't hurt you. I promise." The Sand Wraith seemed hesitant, but then he slowly pressed his snout into Raineir's palm. "Ok, I'm going to need help getting you back. I'm going to let out a call, so don't be startled when I do, ok?" The dragon nodded. Raineir let out a Night Fury call. Soon, Hiccup arrived on Toothless, and together with Raineir and Flash, they created a large sling which the two dragons carried the Sand Wraith to the village in. The dragon was hostile to the other villagers, but Raineir calmed him down. Gothi was able to fix and bandage his wing. Unfortunately, even when fully healed, Claw, as he was now named, would always fly abnormally, though he was forever grateful to the viking girl who helped him.

How Raineir met Fireball the Gronckle:

It was peaceful on Berk once again, now that the Berkians and Outcasts were allies and Dagur was no longer a threat. Raineir was getting ready for her early morning flight with Flash. She was just finishing tying her second braid when she heard a loud commotion outside. Well, Berk was almost peaceful. There was still the occasional viking arguement and of course, untrained dragons wreaking havoc. Raineir groaned. "Not again," she said. Hurrying outside, she looked around for the source. Sure enough, there was a crowd of vikings. Raineir then noticed what was annoying the vikings: a stray and agitated Gronckle. He was obviously untrained and not used to so many humans, as he was growling and whacking his bludgeon-like tail into a few buildings, also shooting lava balls all over the place. Hiccup was already there by the time she approached the scene. Though Hiccup was one of the best at training dragons (both he and Raineir were pretty much tied with that), he looked at her and said, "Rain, can you help me train this Gronckle?" Although Gronckles were normally relatively easy to train, this one was proving to be a difficult case. Raineir agreed, and slowly approached said dragon. The Gronckle noticed her prescence and growled lowly at her, pawing the ground with his feet. "Hey, it's ok, boy. We aren't gonna hurt you. You're safe here." She then carefully held her hand out, revealing a small rock. The Gronckle looked surprised at the peace offering, but then he ate the rock happily, shooting a fireball in the sky afterward. He then nudged Raineir's hand. She smiled. "That's what I'm gonna call you. Fireball."

How Raineir met Earthgrinder the Whispering Death:

On the little-known, forested island of Rock Pine (I just came up with that), there were few dragons. One of them was a Titan Whispering Death. He lived in the tunnels he dug deep below the land's surface. His name was Earthgrinder. Earthgrinder's tunnels were dug deep in the forest, and for good reason. Now although very few humans have come to Rock Pine in the past, Earthgrinder was still very cautious. From past experiences, he knew what humans were capable of. He was searching for food one day, when he heard a ruckus going on. It sounded like distressed dragons and... humans! Growling, Earthgrinder readied himself for the intruders. Out of seemingly nowhere, 6 or 7 dragon hunters emerged, looking for more dragons. Having captured the island's other dragons, they turned their attention to Earthgrinder. Wanting a rare, uniquely colored dragon, they charged at him. Earthgrinder fired at them and dodged their weapons, flying away from Rock Pine. He went searching for another island to live, and came upon Dragon's Edge. Not noticing the built structures, Earthgrinder went to the forest and dug tunnels to live in. The next day, he heard... human voices! He shot out the tunnel and prepared to attack those on his island. He saw 7... teenagers, it looked like. And were those dragons protecting them? One of them, girl with dark brown hair and violet eyes (Raineir), with a Skrill next to her, came up to him slowly and cautiously, putting her hand out gently. Earthgrinder wasn't sure what to think. After a few moments, he decided they were good and pressed his snout into her palm. Since meeting these young humans, Earthgrinder soon became used to living with them and their dragons, especially the girl, the first human to show him kindness.

About Raineir

Full Name: Raineir Feralsome

Age: 19-20 (by the time of How to Train Your Dragon 2)

Gender: Female

Height: Shorter than the average female. 5 ft, 2 in.

Hair Color: Dark brown, tied into two semi-long braids in the back. In HTTYD 3, she now has wavy, shoulder length dark brown hair, which now has a purple streak on the right side.

Eye Color: Violet

Wears: Long sleeve gray dress, dark green leggings, brown fur boots, and two belts, one around the waist and one cross body style in which she keeps her sword. She also wears a necklace with a silver pendant of a Skrill. In HTTYD 3, Raineir now wears a short sleeve gray and purple top, gray leggings, Skrill-inspired skirt, Skrill boots, Skrill arm bracers, and metal shoulder guards. She still wears the waist belt, but instead of just one cross-body belt, she has two that cross over each other. She also still has the Skrill necklace.

Dragons: A Skrill named Flash. Flash looks like a regular Skrill, but has noticeable scars on her sides from when she was wounded by dragon hunters, about a month or so before Hiccup met Toothless. Flash, in an act of graditude, accepted Raineir as her rider and life-long partner. Like Hiccup and Toothless, Raineir and Flash proved that friends aren't just limited to the same species. Flash's personality is a little different from the average Skrill, though being one, she can have a bit of an attitude, and like Toothless, can be sarcastic and snarky. Nevertheless, Flash is a very loyal partner to Raineir. She is very affectionate towards her human sister (Raineir) and other humans and dragons she trusts. She and Raineir are very much like siblings. Raineir also later befriends a Terrible Terror she names Scout, who she taught to "scout" out people, dragons, and objects using hand signals. Scout is very friendly and playful, though not afraid to fight if her friends are threatened. Sometime between Mildew's betrayal of Berk and the war between the Berkian, Outcasts, and Berserkers, Raineir found and helped Claw, a Sand Wraith lost and confused in the forests of Berk.

Other Dragons: In addition to her three main dragons, Raineir has also trained many others: Earthgrinder a titan Whispering Death, Silvermist a light violet Flightmare, Fireflower a violet Monstrous Nightmare, Lightning a violet and green Shockjaw, Fireball a Gronckle, Bluebird a Deadly Nadder, and many others.

Main weapon: Electro, her trusty Gronckle Iron sword. Upon meeting Flash for the first time, Raineir defended her from dragon hunters, and discovered that her sword has the ability to shoot out lightning bolts.

Personality: In the first movie (if she were in it), she was much like Hiccup, though not as awkward (sorry, Hiccup). She and Hiccup are still very similar to one another. Raineir is intelligent, sometimes sarcastic, and very witty. Like Astrid, she is fully willing to fiercely defend her friends. She is a very kind and good-hearted person, always ready to help out her friends and family, though not afraid to call them out when they get out of line. She doesn't like to kill unless it's absolutely necessary. Raineir, like Hiccup, likes to consider herself a peacemaker.

Unofficial, Official Title: The Lightning Rider

Fun fact about Raineir: For an unknown reason, Raineir has an immunity to lightning, and eletrical shocks don't hurt or affect her negatively in any way. She may have been born this way, or maybe she gained it early on in her life, both probably foreshadowing her becoming a Skrill rider.

Neara... burned my subject...

The ease or difficulty of the coding of new features is not the issue here. I couldn't give a rat turd about that. The problem is the fact that they flung this massive pile of mokey crap on us with no warning and no readily available explanation as to why it was done, let alone one that would appease any of us.

I know coding isn't easy. I played a game called Spark Project for a while a long time ago that was all about building your own small scale games from scratch. I sucked at the coding stuff in spite of the fact that this game simplified it to the extreme. I would have needed a step-by-step "for dummies" explanation just to figure out how to make the characters walk. I enjoyed the building aspect of it more; creating the maps, making mazes of tunnels, raising mountain ranges, painting and decorating the scenery, etc. Even when it frustrated the living crap out of me when I couldn't get the scenery to mold the way I wanted it to.

Putting all that aside, none of that excuses them for not telling us that they were going to do something like this and it doesn't change the fact that they shot themselves in the foot by making a part of the game many players spent a lot of time on so unenjoyable and not worth playing anymore. It would have been bad enough had they just done that and actually told us outright that is had been done, but the fact that they did it with no warning and no acceptable explanation is beyond the pale and I dare say we all have a right to be absolutly furious about it and express that in our own ways. I used so called swear words because in my rage it didn't feel like alternative cuss words were sufficient to adequately express just how mad I was and to be honest still am. Perhaps my word choice was inappropriate for some, but I will neither apologize for it nor will I lay down and take it when I feel as though I am being attacked for it.
