Zhanhuo is far too passive in your story. I see none of his personal traits. It's very... hm... typical. For lack of a better description.

Tracking, I'm going to try

Name: Mei Shilin

Personality: Calm, empathetic, serene

Backstory:

    Legends spoke of legendary dragons with mystical powers. Their power could range
from fire, water, and even earth. They were said to be some of the wisest creatures alive and
their lives spanned thousands of years, if not more. The dragons were said to have long
serpentine bodys and they had an elegant beauty to them that was unmatched by any other
creature. Some were know to be be quite aggressive, whilst others were know as peaceful
creatures who kept to themselves. These legends were passed down for years, but they
were more than simply legends for the dragons were real. At least they were, for now
dragons are never seen and they simply fade into nothing but legend. At least, thats what
most people believe...

China, 3000 A.D
    Mei Shilin stared down into the starry reflections in the water below her. The light of the
stars seemed to light up the entire forest around them. This beautiful forest had been her
home for as long as she knew, and she had always lived alone in this peaceful place. Sure,
there were other creatures who called this forest their home too, but she was the only
dragon. The forest was filled with many trees, lush grass, and a few sparkling streams and
was a place of unparelled beauty. It was even said to hold many crystals of every kind you
could imagine and more. She had been the guardian of this forest for thousands of years
and she was the one who had created every crystal hidden deep within the forest.

       Ru walked silently through the forest admiring the beauty of it. It's sad that this is one of
the only remaining forests in the world she thought to herself. Instead of cherishing the beauty
of nature though, people just kept on building more and more cities...and destroying more
and more of nature until almost none remained. Sadly this forest was next, in a few hours
they would come with their machinery, ready to conquer and destroy what little remained.
She continued trekking through the forest, pausing when she saw a nearby pond. As she
neared the pond she noticed a large green serpentine form with scales that held the pattern of
a thousand stars. She stared, awestruck. It can be a dragon though, can it she thought. I
thought they didn't exist anymore.

        She walked forward slowly, freezing as the dragons intelligent green gaze met hers. The
dragons eyes made it appear old despite it's youthful appearance, and they made her appear
wise....as if the dragon was staring into her very soul. "You need to get out" a loud voice
boomed behind her. At the sound of the voice, the dragon vanished into the water casting a
rainbow of droplits into the air. Ru turned, frustrated that someone had  to show up. She
recognized the person as one of the workers who was here to destroy the forest. " The
machines and other workers will be here soon" he said, "I'm here to make sure it's all cleared
out before they start". "Didn't you see the dragon" , Ru asked, paying no attention to what he
had said.

       " There was nothing here but a snake" the man replied. "It slid into the water when I
showed up".  " It wasn't a snake, it was a dragon" Ru countered, confused that the guy had
mistaken it for a snake. "It was a snake, besides everyone knows dragons are nothing but a
legend", he said, his voice letting her know he was done with this topic. Ru scowled silently,
perhaps the dragon had cast some sort of magic on the man. Dragons were know as beings of
magic in the legends. She gazed at the sky, it was nearly dawn. " Why can't you just leave this
forest as it is" she said. " There are enough cities in this world already, why do you need more"?
"It has nothing to do with me", the man said. " I'm just following orders, besides it's just a forest"
" Now you should get out, they will be here any minute" Ru turned to leave, glancing back to glare
at the man before she finally left.
    When Ru was nearly out of the forest she heard a loud rumbling noise behind her. She
turned watching in amazement as large a colossal walls of rock jutted out of the ground, creating
a wall around the heart of the forest. She glanced up at the jagged tips of the rock outlined
against the pale blue sky. The wall of rock was nearly twice the height of the trees. I wonder
what did this she thought to herself, as she walked through the few trees remaining outside
of the rock wall.
                As Ru trekked out of the trees she saw several people approaching on machines. "
Why do we have to get stuck with all the fieldwork jobs" one of them complained. "Just shut
up" another one said. "Besides, I think we're there." He peered down at the cooridnates the
boss had given them. "Yep, this is it" he said. He looked up from the map, and then
narrowed his eyes in confusion. " Where's the forest", he said. " It should be here according
to the map, all I see is this huge cliff." " Same here" another said. " Is this some sort of joke or
something because it's not funny" Ru watched in amusement as several minutes later, after
looking around a little the workers left. The dragon must have hid the forest by creating
the huge wall of stone that now surrounded it. She smiled cheerfully to herself, the forest
would be safe for as long as the dragon remained remained.

That first part where Ru thought is was an illusion...it was really just the mans unbelief...or perhaps his unwillingness to admit he saw the dragon because he may have some sort of selfish plan on trying to capture it or something. I don't know though...that shall just stay a mystery, because I'm writing a backstory instead of a fan fic...fan fics are not my thing. They are fun to read but I'd never have the patience to write one, I don't have the sheer talent either :p

Another named diety dragon

Another named diety dragon has appeared, having travelled many moons to seek a worthy companion.

The dragon is called Jiangliu (江流), "river flow". He is patient, calm, and flexible. This dragon comes from a line of Serpentfangs said to have died out long ago, who can draw upon the ancient magics often associated with their species in the lands from which they hail. His body bears a nebulous pattern resembling the Angel nebula. Jiangliu can summon the power of water. The river bends, but does not break. Do you have what it takes to make this indomitable diety dragon your ally?

Pleasekeep in mind that, despite special named adoptables being adoptable by people who already have one of the original seven serpentfangs, you may only adopt one special per person. Choose wisely, for there are more to come.

Now that I see that it's going by element... I'm not going to try for Zhanhuo... waiting for either light, lightning, and maybe ice. Most excited for light... but lightning would be cool too.

I was actually going to finish the Chinese elements of Wu Xing first, before getting into more typical rpg-like elements. You probably know this already, but that means that the next two will be Wood and Metal.

Aiming for 11: Wanqueng Liu

Okay I'm going to try and earn Wanqueng Liu the dragon of wood and life because at first I intended to wait but when I saw him I knew he was the one. Anyways, I'm going to apply my real-life personality traits but insert them into the httyd universe.

How we met:

My most recent dragon, the adolescent Monstrous Nightmare Ragefire, was in desperate need of training. I am ashamed to say that because he was the "baby" among my fleet that I couldn't help but coddle him and as a result I am the only one to blame for his unruly attitude. My solution to my sassy young dragon was to go on a month-long hike/camping trip so we could bond and better understand what we needed of each other. Perhaps it was a bit too ambitous but I figured forcing us to work together would be beneficial. The best (and worst) part of my plan was that Ragefire and I could not yet fly together because of his age, forcing us to work together.

We started off on an isolated forest together but immeadiately ran into problems, Ragefire, like any proper Nightmare had both an affinity for setting himself on fire and a bad attitude. I was horrified to learn that our training exercises together posed an enormous threat to the wildlife, and found myself constantly stuggling to stop Ragefire before he caused any permanent damage.

Our trek led us deeper into the forest and soon we had to struggled to get through the foliage, it was especially hard for my dragon because of his bulk. In order to calm my dragon I had taken to reading to him every night, hoping that the activity could bring us closer. In fact when I'd read from one of the two books (one being a mythology guide and the other a classic fairytale) not only would Ragefire settle down but also the entire forest seemed to hush. Both of us began to look forward to those moments together.

Unfortunately, despite the emotional headway we were making it seemed as though no matter what nothing could be done to control Ragefire's flames. More and more often I'd be forced to beat back brushfires and also frighteningly enough I found it harder to control them. Strangely enough, however, on more than one occasion a fire I should have never been able to stop had been put out, almost by magic. Still the damge to the trees made it clear that an ancient, isolated forest was too dangerous for a stoker class dragon to be trained in. It was then that I decided to try and head back to the mouth of the forest where a few friend would be waiting to take us back to Berk.

Even though I had made up my mind to go back early it felt as though the forest became hostil overnight. Brambles were constantly snagging at us, every root seemed to want to trip us, and poor Ragefire seemed to always end up tangled in hanging mosses. In fact the entire forest seemed in general darker and more confusing than it had ever seemed before. Soon, in our wanderings, it became apparent that not only were we behind schedule but also very lost. On multiple occasions I scaled trees to find a way out but was always met by the same sea of green tree tops and the agitated rustling of the leaves around me.

We began to panic, our month was almost up and there was no sign of a familiar path, let alone a coast. I had begun to wish that I had brought any of my other dragons so we could call it quits and fly out, I even became desperate enough to try flying  out on Ragefire but each time ended in crashes. The food was also running out, the berries that were so plentiful before were all gone and it seemed as though the fish in the river could no longer be caught; the situation was getting dire and we were both realizing it.

At this point Ragefire was becoming more irritable, and honestly so was I, and all of the progrees in training that I made seemed to be unraveling by the hour. Ragefire finally snapped one evening when we were trying to get through a particularly tricky space between the trees. He had once again gotten snagged and tangled in the finger-like branches and hanging mosses, but this time with an enraged roar he burst into flames for the first time in days. Despite my commands he wouldn't calm down or put himself out, he just continued to rage and struggle effectively setting the trees and surrounding brambles on fire. It was then that a foreign and enraged roar sounded throughout the forest. So load that is shook the Earth and probaly rattled every tree in the forest.

Silence rang after the sound, even Ragefire stopped squirming for a moment, the only sound was of the burning forest. Then, almost as if he came from the wood himself a massive dragon unlike any I have ever seen before burst from the forest. He was snake-like in appearance, and strangely beautiful with his brown scales and vine-like pattern, he almost seemed like the trees brought to life. The beauty only lasted a moment through, because with a savage roar he flung himself on the still burning Ragefire in attack. To my horror the two dragons began to savagely fight, but it became apparent that my adolescent Nighmare was sorely outmatched by the ancient being we had offended.

True to it's snake-like appearance the strange dragon began to wind around Ragefire and I watched in horror as his flames slowly began to get smothered out along with the fires destroying the forest. I couldn't stand to watch anymore, and even though I was powerless, and ran up to the dragon and began to feebly punch him. I sobbed and begged for him to let Ragefire go, but he didn't seem to listen and care. At the height of my panic I began to beg, apoligizing for Ragefire behavior, explaining that we were young and didn't know what we were doing, promising to never hurt the trees again, and saying that it was all my fault.

As I spoke the dragon began to loosen it's hold on Ragefire and turned it's attention towards me, and it struck me:

"You're only trying to protect the forest you love, aren't you?" I whisped.

In answer the tree around me seemed to be swept in a gust of wind and suddenly the dragon released my nightmare and stalked towards me. It all made sense now, this dragon was only doing what he could to protect his own. Obviously he was stubborn, wise, and wild like his forest and had decided that he had to stop us before we did any more harm.

"You are the forest" I said, "You are wild yet patient, unwilling to be tamed yet fair to those who deserve it. You gave us us every chance didn't you? You cleaned up our messes, you warned us away yet we didn't listen. I'm sorry, I am so sorry, I only wanted to help my dragon grow."

he cocked his head, listened to my words, then he stood up taller looking down his snout at me for a few moments. Suddenly he shot his head forward, a few inches from mine, and snarled. I flinched but did not step back, and we statred at each other a few moments. I could hear Ragefire rustling in the backgroung, beginning to stir. It didn't matter though, for me in that moment, I was trapped in the strange dragon's eyes.

Suddenly he bowed his head to me, he was not submitting, I could tell that much, but rather was acknowleging a respect for me. Awed by this a fell to my knees and bowed my head back, until I felt a warm gust of wind and a nudge on my forehead. I raised my head and in a wild sort of way he tossed his head back before displaying the side of his neck to me.

Understanding the message I climbed on, directly behind his head gripping his horns like I would on a nightmare. He straightened up before almost gliding to where Ragefire was shakily standing. The dragon growled at my Nightmare, and shockingly enough Ragefire my stubborn, unruly dragon bowed his head in respect and submission. It was so shocking that I had to laugh earning glares from both dragons before I quieted. With that the mysterious dragon leapt up past the trees and into the starry night, I could hear Ragefire sloppily flapping not far behind.

Riding that dragon was like trying to ride the wind or a chaotic stream. He wound through the sky like a ribbon, whipping himself around, sometimes falling and othertimes dropping me only to catch me again. It was terrifying and exhilerating all at once, an expirience I'll never forget and never get used to.

At the end of the night he brought me all the way back to Berk, dropping me off at the edge of the wilderness. But that wasn't the last time we met, far from it he is one of my closest friends. He visits me sometimes, tempting me into the woods to play and fly, other times me and Ragefire (All grown up) visit him at his forest.

After meeting him and scouring the library at Berk I learned that he was an Oriental Serpentfang, an ancient breed of dragon quite similar to those of Eastern Legend. Not only that but I learned tht he was Wanqueng Liu, the dragon of wood--wild, free, and yes stubborn. I knew that I could never tame Wanqueng Liu, but then I wouldn't want to, he's too beautiful as he is--like an unexplored, anicient forest. I was just happy and blessed to be his friend.

Whew, that was longer than I thought, probably full of mistakes too seeing how late it is, sorry. Anyways I hope it's okay, I kinda pictured Wanqueng Liu as an ancient guardian of his forest; every bit as unbeatable as nature. I have to say, I'm quite attached to that dragon, especially after writing that story (sorry it's so long by the way). I fell in love with him because of his plant-like design, because belive it or not, I love nature myself (I plan to study Environmental Science so I relate to his desire to protect the forest). And needless to say, I am in love with these dragons because I'm quite of fan of Eastern dragons, they are often the subject of my sketches in real life because I'm haven't mastered online art programs enough to put them up yet. Anyways, again I hope this is worthy of Wanqueng Liu, I await your feedback patiently.

P.S. If you need it

name: Wanqueng Liu

Gender: Male

Personality: "He is wild, unruly, and persistant . . . Wanqueng Liu can summon the power of wood. The trees are all knowing and all seeing, but they never speak."

P.P.S. I also watched and enjoyed "Spirited Aaway" that was what originally got me drawing eastern dragons instead of just western style ones.

This is an excellent story.

This is an excellent story. It does suffer a little from the random ride on dragonback, but the rest of it is good enough that I can forgive that. To be honest, I'm suprised I haven't noticed you around before.

I don't expect anyone to be able to top this story, but I will be leaving Wanqueng available for a few more hours, to make sure that anyone in any timezone who is interested at least has a chance to make a submission. =3

subject ?

Yeah, to be honest I donk think I've met you on the forums either but I think that thats because I'm relatively new and have actually been participating for an even shorter time. Anyways down to business about Wanqueng Liu, have I earned him yet? I'm only asking because I am unashamedly desperate for that dragon :) and if you really need it I could post an another background story to get him (that wouldn't be preferable but I'd do it). Anyways thanks again for you terrific work I hope to hear from you again soon.

P.S. If you earn a special dragon does that mean you are no longer able to get another serpentfang from later batches?

With the forums going down

With the forums going down (and then having to work most of today XD), I've made you wait on the verdict longer than I had anticipated. Adopting a diety dragon is seperate from adopting one of the normal Serpentfang dragons. You may only adopt one diety and one "normal". The normal can come from any batch, but "diety" dragons will always have some kind of special texture present on their bodies, and will most likely come with their names predetermined, or be explicitly called a "diety".

Anyhow, there has been ample time for people to write a story if they were interested in Wanqueng, and you have no competition even still.

Congratulations.

Wanqueng Liu (戰士柳) is yours.

Thank You!

Yay, thank you so much, he's amazing! And sorry for rushing you a bit, but as you can see I really wanted this serpentfang :) Wanqueng Liu looks incredible and we'll definitely be on the look out for any of the regular serpentfangs that catch our eyes. Thank you again, you did an incredible job and I'm very happy to have recieved this dragon.

I can't take it anymore...

Gonna try for Xiongmeng Dao. I can't stand looking at her and wanting her to join the pack. XD

Name: Xiongmeng Dao

Gender: Female

Personality: Brutal, Efficient, and Impulsive

  "Sister, it was not your fault." Mei Shilin ran up to me. "It was an accident!" Wanquen Liu growled. "Hey, it wasn't my fault. It fell down near Zhanghuo!  He should have caught it! Plus, it was his idea in the beginning! " My oldest brother growled. "You were the first one who agreed with this mess, genius. Besides, it was Xiongmeng's responsibility. Blame her for not stopping us!" My responsibility. Those words stung. I hissed. I was my fault. I WAS THE REASON WHO STARTED THIS! Jiangliu put his body between my two brothers.

  "Guys, lets settle down. We need-"

  "We need? WE NEED?" Zhanghuo roared, and the sky started to glow red. "YOU NEED TO THINK, WATER CHILD. XIONGMENG SHOULDN'T HAVE COME WITH US! IF IT WASN'T FOR HER, WE WOULD BE SAFE!"

  My heart sunk. I roared. I sped off. My fault. My fault... My sister put her paw on my shoulder. "It's not your fault. Don't listen to-" I turned around, my eyes glowing stormy grey. "MY FAULT? I HATE YOU ALL! YOU HEARD THAT?" Mei Shilin stopped, and the brothers stopped fighting. "I HOPE YOU TOOK THAT IN!"

  Daggers shot up from the ground, and swirled around me.

  Jiangliu stammered, then my sister started to speak. "Xion-" "SHUT UP!"

  Without thinking, a dagger flew forward.

  It impaled my sister in the chest*, and she fell to the ground. It started to slow down.

  Jiangliu plunged down after my sister, but an iron fist punched him away.

  Slashes.

  Screaming.

  Rage.

  BLOOD..."

  I roared, and slammed my fist on the ground. I breathed hard, then looked around. It was a nightmare. Sweat dripped off my brow. A nightmare. A nightmare, but it was true. The truth of that night. I growled, then flew out of the cave. I flew around. Slashes, Screams, DIVIDED "ENOUGH!" I shouted, and shot a dagger into the forest. A squeal, and I saw a dead boar lying on the ground. It flashed twice, and I saw Mei Shilin, blood ozing from the wound. I roared, and shook that tought away. Forget it.

  Xiongmeng, you're stronger than this. I concentrated, and tried to forget that haunting event. I need to fly. Yes, I need to fly. I dove down, and stared down. The sight was beautiful. Lush trees dotted the ground. Dragons flew around me, and I saw packs of dragons hunting on the ground.

  It opened up to the plains, where packs of dragons ran around, some grazing, some fighting each other, some lazily sleeping and dozing off.

  I flew farther, and I entered the taiga, the air got chilly. I was gronkles eating the rocks, then I flew up into the foreign mountain ranges. I never explored this region before. I didn't care. I must escape my past. I tightend my fist, iron sprouting on my palm. I dove down, and impaled a boar on the spot. I dove down, and grabbed it with my left talon. I soared back up, and threw it in my jowls, crunching the flesh and bone instantly. I was so strong, yet so weak.

  The nightmare flashed in my brain for half a second, and I howled in rage. I charged, and without any apparent reason, battered my tail against a mountain. Nets of iron spread around it, then in fury, squeezed the iron together so hard, the entire mountain crumbled and fell into rubble.

  Suddenly, either when I snapped into reality, or when I heard the first boulder, I was aware that I was right under the mountian. I twisted my body, and swirled around the debris. Spiraling, I weaved around the falling earth. It was getting easy, then the rays of light that where shining on my body disappeared. I looked up, and I saw a boulder, larger than the others, fall above me. Shooting several beams of iron, I attempted to hold it up, but then without concentration, it melted, and I collasped under the rubble. My vision darkened, and I blacked out.

  When I woke up, I couldn't see anything. I pushed out the rock on top of me, and summoned iron to smash away the rocks around me. Then, I looked up and saw that I couldn't calculate the boulder's dimentions. This was the boulder that I was beneath, which was becoming a pain. At this point, I was getting extremly irratated. Even with my powers, I was still stuck.

  "Wow. Uh, this is odd?" Sounds of a human filled my ears. Great. A person here to tease me for my suffering. As is I didn't suffer enough. I looked around, and spotted a boy jump off his glowing white dragon**. He saw me, and walked closer. "You certainly arn't from around here. Got into a bit of a mess?" Do no question my powers, young one. I hissed, and a iron dagger shot up from the ground. He can't hear me, so I need to make him understand. I aimed it at his chest, and he backed up. Good boy. Now, if you don't disturb me, I'll get out of this in no time. "Woah. It's ok, I'm not gonna hurt you." Leave me alone! I trusted the dagger closer, and he stopped moving. "You know, that looks like a nasty situation..." I glared at him, and 2 more daggers flew out of the earth. He got the message. He backed up farther, and I looked left and right. Two iron cables flew out of the earth, and using my will, attached them to the rock. Now, time for the tricky part. I need to make sure I don't press too hard, or it'll break. Now, if I-

  ZAP!

  The bouder above me turned to ash, and I stared at the boy. His dragon had 7 glowing spots swirling around her, the lazers dimming. They then disappeared, and I stared at the child. I'm not gonna medle with a viking baby and his crazy dragon anymore. Now get lost. I thought to myself, and I took off into the sky. "Hey! Not even a thank you?" I looked at him in the eye for one last time, and he raised his hands, and took off on his dragon.

  I was saved by a child. Better keep this a secret. If people find out, who knows what they will-

  TWANG! TWANG! TWANG! TWANG! TWANG!

 Sharp pains shot up my chest. Blood dripped from the 5 wounds, and the agony made my vision turn red. I saw 5 archers standing on the mountain. "Shoot it down, men. This will be a trophey! He'll pay us well!" Poachers. They think they can hurt me? I roared, and with one stroke, slammed a iron wall beneath them. They flew up, and I shot an iron fist, knocking them through the sky. Vulnerable beings. Ah! The wound. It hurt, and I landed on the moutain. I'm not the healer, but if Wanqueng Liu was here, he could help me...

 No. Forget him. I shoved that thought away, then they came back as a swarm. I fell to the ground, and howled in pain. Then, he came again. Yes. The boy.

 "Now what?" He put his hands on his hips, and I snarled. Back away. I summoned up the dagger again, but he just walked away from it, and looked at me.

 "You can trust me. Gets into trouble a lot, huh?" He walked closer, and brought up some herbs. I looked into his eyes. They gleamed with feirceness, but trust. Fine. I brought the dagger back down to the ground, and he placed them on the wound.

 My first reaction? It stung. A lot. I roared, and slammed him to the ground. "Woah! Hey! What?!" Roaring, I summoned up 10 daggers, but before I hurled them down...

 The pain stopped. It ceased, and I calmed down. The daggers dropped, and clattered on the floor. I looked at the wound, then looked back.

 "I'm not a master healer. Yeah, ask Jasmine if you want a better treatment. But it got the job done."

 I just stared. He was so much like my family. I studied him, then paced around. He was different. Different than other humans that I was around. Some harmed me. Some ran away. Some betrayed me. But... this one trusted me and cared for me. I looked at him, then he looked down. Iron bubbled, and I soldified it into the shape of me. I nudged it to him, then he picked it up. "I guess that was a thank you?" I shrugged, then I flew off. "Hey! Wait up!" I turned around, and he caught up on his dragon. "You were troubed by something. I saw it in your face. Want me to help?"

 I looked at him. He smiled, and I looked at him. Joy. Something useful in a long time. Something better than the herbs. Something better when he shot at the boulder. Trust. I roared and smiled, and flew up into the sky. I looked down, and he stared at me. Worthy child, let me tell you my story.

*Calm down. She ain't dead. She just got badly injured. That's why she's here in the adoptables.

**The glowing white dragon is Neontaze. She's in my sig.

 Yeah. That's all for now. I ran out of time. Hoepfully this will work. I hope you're satisfied ;). If you want, I could post the second part, where Hyrith heals her and gets her back to normal, heals her momories. Don't worry. No overpoweredness included. It also explains why she attaced her sibilings and what the event was. I really hoped it was fine. Extremly hoping it's better than my first. I really want this dragon, for I've been obsessed with "bending", and she has the most intresting personality out of the 5 (In my opinion). Plus, I know how to deal with that sort of thing at my school. Again, I really want this dragon, but if you think you need more info/not good enough/worse than the frist, just let me know. Thanks!

I would much prefer the other

I would much prefer the other dragons in the Wu Xing series not to be involved with your backstory, let alone be harmed in it. It tends to... intersect unpleasantly with the stories of other adoptees.

;w;

I'm gonna try for Zhanhuo. ;w;

Personality: He used to be war-like and fierce in a time before. He can be fierce or righteous if he chooses to be. Fortunately, his enormous energy allows him of offer much in return. He trusts the company of a spiritual person, the one that truly worship him as a deity.

Back story:

Nee-var's house was located on the near the face of a hill, at a higher elevation than the quiet village below. It was only one-story high and quite reminiscent of a temple or shrine in design, including distinctive features such as overhangs and multi-tiered slanted roofs. The red cottage was small and had four octagonal windows at its facade.

Nee-var drew her attention to a cloud of unusual size and appearance. She had been out in the sun, had taken a cold bath, had her meal, and was then working on her scriptures. She called for her best walking stick and climbed up to a place in her home which would give her the best view of the phenomenon. It was not clear at that distance from which mountain the cloud was rising, its general appearance can best be expressed as being like a rocky umbrella pine, for it rose to a great height on a sort of a trunk and then split off into branches.

She saw dark, cloudy ash thrust upwards by the first blast and then left unsupported as the pressure subsided, or else. It was eventually borne down by its own weight that it spread out and gradually dispersed. In places on the mountain it looked white, elsewhere blotched and dirty, according to the amount of soil, dust and ashes it carried with it.

She was entirely fearless, describing each new movement and phase of the mountain to be noted down exactly as she observed them. Ashes were already falling, hotter and thicker, followed by bits of magma plumes and blackened stones, already charred and cracked by the ongoing flames.

She looked round as a dense black cloud was coming up from the mountains, spreading over the earth like a flood. She had scarcely sat down to rest when darkness fell, not the dark of a moonless or cloudy night, but as if the lamp had been put out in a closed room.

As the raging volcanic flames slowly approaches at the direction where the village had located, she silently stepped in her home and made her way to a great shrine located in the middle of her home.

She lighted incense sticks and placed them on a serpent-like holder. She looked over to an old-fashioned bright red bell, next to the incense. Softly carrying and cuffing it with her palms, she whispered a few words to the bell, and it began to feel quite warm to the touch. The bell makes a soft ringing sound by its own. She'd let go of the bell as it levitates and rings on its own. The bell suddenly shook and dissipated into what it seems to be red stardust in thin air. A loud, bearish roar was heard.

Slightly startled, Nee-var went outside to the source of the roar. Then, she saw him.

A great red serpent-like dragon with the antlers of a deer, the head of a crocodile, the ears of a cow and with the glowing eyes of a demon. The claws of the dragon were hawk-like and were as sharp as daggers. His whiskers were like light strings moving with the day breeze. The belly of the serpentine beast looked like the serene stars of a night sky.

The dragon gave out a slight roar and approached Nee-var. It placed its warm whiskers on Nee-var's cheeks. Attempting to telepathically interact with her.

Nee-var started to silently converse with the great dragon as flames slowly licked the earth near them and the tiny village below. Nee-var eventually fainted in front of the dragon due to inhaling the toxic, volcanic fumes in the air.

The great dragon moved away from Nee-var, it subtly floated towards the erupting volcano leaving behind a light trail of stardust, visible from the dark, ash covered sky above. He hovered above the fiery mountain and summoned bright scarlet orbs of ember from his own claws. The orbs floated around the dragon as he gave out an ear piercing primal roar. The orbs began to absorb the flames surrounding the mountain, ridding the land of raging fire, only leaving behind dry, hot ash. The dragon with all of his strength cloaked himself in a coat of fire and dived straight through the volcano.

The flow of lava seemed to stop. It began to flow moments later, but in reverse. The volcano acted like an absorbent for the flames and lava. The dragon finally busted out the volcano and sealed it with cooled lava, stopping the release of more dark ash and toxic fumes in the sky.

The sky began to brighten up, enough for the dragon to see the aftermath of the devastation.

The land looked barren. The lively pasture is now reduced to ash, ember and dust. There were burnt trees and the loss of lives of a few sheep, but no serious harm were made.

The dragon, all worn out and tired after a battle with the fury of Mother Earth slowly went it way back to Nee-var's premise. It looked at Nee-var's cold, unconscious body and placed one of his warm claws to her abdomen. Nee-var twitched her eyes and let out a rough, whooping cough. She was beginning to wake up. The dragon let go of her and preceded to float away into the breaking sky.

Nee-var regained consciousness.
The last thing she had saw is the great dragon, slowly disappearing with a bright flash of fire in the still ash covered clouds.

"Zhanhuo, thank you. Thank you for saving us all." She softly whispered.

(Ahh, I can't write as good as last time. I tried ;m; . I just hope that you'll get a good read, even when its not eligible for Zhanhuo.)

(Also, Nee-var is supposed to be a monk, and met Zhanhuo at a time before. She worshipped him as a deity and protector. And in return, he gave a bell to summon him when time calls. I just wanted to portray him as a protagonist.)

As much as I would love to

As much as I would love to see you take this dragon home, I cannot accept this story. I have already rejected one person for not using any of the given traits in their story. It would be very unfair to accept yours despite the same issue being present. "he is warlike" and "used to be warlike" are on very different sides of the temperament spectrum.

To be honest, the whole reason the special Serpentfangs have their personalities set is to force people to get creative with how to incorporate them into their stories. I find that when I leave the personalities up to personal preference, they tend to fall into a very specific set of typical trends, and to be frank, that gets really boring and impersonal.

I want to try for Xiongmeng

I want to try for Xiongmeng Dao.

Personality: Brutal, impulsive, effecient as you stated in the short summary on her.

Backstory:

       It was said that years ago there was a great famine.  Few remember how long it spanned, only those who survived knew . Creatures from all around the world vied for what little food remained and the lives of countless many were lost during what was called “The Great Dragon War”.  Only the strongest and most ruthless survived, there was no room for mercy in that savage time. Dragons were the most powerful at the time, and the war centered on them, for no other creature dared challenge them. Few tried out of pure desperation, but met their fate, unable to mount the slightest challenge.  The strongest of that time were the dragons of a superior race, ones that were gifted with great powers over the elements. Even with their great prowess over the elements though, few of these extraordinary beings survived.

           Xiongmeng Dao padded out of the cave, her metallic scales glinting in the harsh sunlight. Ravenous, she rose into the air, scavenging for what little food she could find. She headed for the ocean, it was one of the few places food could be found, but even there it was scarce. Upon arrival she was quickly met by the opposition of two dragons. Instinctively she pierced them with multiple frigid steel blades, before diving deep into the water. She swam at a moderate pace as she searched, there was no need to worry about the two dragons. She had shown no mercy, aiming straight for their hearts. She hunted for hours, scouring the depths for whatever she could find, but to little avail.

        After several hours, she finally found a small school of boxfish. These were the most abundant of what little fish remained, due to them being very venomous. Only dragons of her kind could eat them without repercussion. She lunged forward, devouring a few in quick, precise bites. Before she could devour another, she was thrust away by a tempestuous torrent. She whirled around rapidly, searching for the source of the torrent. She was met by the golden gaze of a vivid blue dragon. She instinctively sent her blades at him, but they were repulsed by a great deluge of water. She swam downward rapidly, releasing multiple iron daggers at the dragon, but it avoided them each time, using it’s water to push them away.

        Recognizing that she stood no chance against this dragon while in its natural element she swam rapidly to the surface, hoping the dragon would follow. She rose into the air hovering high above the water. Moments later the dragon appeared, followed by a cascade of water. She swiftly countered it by creating a wall of iron before diving down and sending a rapid array of blades at the dragon. It summoned a tremendous wall of water in a futile attempt to block her attack, but it was too late. She had met her mark, as multiple blades pierced the dragons chest. He let out one final chocked cry as he plummeted into the water. Xiongmeng Dao did not stay to watch, only diving silently back into the water in search of her prey.

         This was her life for countless years, hunting and killing, relentlessly, for that was the only way to survive. Many seasons later the famine finally came to an end, but it came at a great price. Innumerable creatures and dragons had died out as a result of the famine and the war. Scarcely any of her kind had survived, most of the elite dragons had died in battles over the little food that they could find. The few who did survive, like Xiongmeng left and are rarely ever seen, fading into nothing more than legend.

Hope it's okay.

Wait. You don't have to do a taming story? DX

XD Perhaps I should have

XD Perhaps I should have mentioned. I thought it was implied, seeing as I've acepted vikingless and humanless stories in past adoptions. Actually taming the dragon is uneccessary (and if we're perfectly honest, more than a little unlikely :P). The dragon doesn't even have to interact with any other character, as long as the story is good. =3

Try for Mei Shilin
Name: Mei Shilin (stone demon forest)
Personality : Gentle, peaceful, empathetic,patient, and wise. Her connection to the earth  gives her a sense of serenity and allows her to calmly discourage humans from bothering her. She can't stand for innocent blood to be she'd.

Backstory:

The dragon had been asleep for a long time. In this time the world had turned, as it was oft to do, and it had changed drastically. Where once dragons had outnumbered man, now man was quickly catching up on dragon. Where once there had been more species of dragons than the eye could behold, now numbers had dwindled down to a countable sum. Humanity was creeping up upon nature and in the first blink of her eyes, the dragon felt the Earth's unease. Humans were a silly creature that did not or understand the precious balance of nature.

The green dragon rose shaking off the dirt that had accumulated in her rest, and peered around the Crystal cavern that winked and glowed with the pulse of the earth itself. She had often slumbered here being near to mother earth. Yet never had she slept so long. She twitched her tail and flexed her various body parts getting the blood pumping again. Her body was both green and patterned with the nebula itself. With every shift of her mood the nebula seemed to pulse and shift. If one watched long enough they might be able to tell her moods from the nebula, though anyone who knew her wouldn't need it to know. She was a peaceful and tranquil dragon who was given to deep thoughts and who felt what others felt.

Mei Shilin, as she was known, rose up into the air and flowed through the deep cavern system traveling up and through various tunnels before reaching it's end. It's end had once been a slim crack in the earth on the side of an old mountain, but that had widened overtime into an almost passable cave entrance. If she hadn't woken soon, in a few more turns humanity would have probably stumbled upon her waking her anyway. Mei Shilin paused at the entrance encouraging the earth to split a little more. She slithered through the entrance and paused long enough to encourage it to close back the same amount. Then she was flying into the sunlight. She blinked her eyes letting them adjust while also soaking up the warmth of day. The earth about her sensed her pleasure and flowers bloomed in her shadow. Mei Shilin nodded her head gratefully to the earth and took in the delicate floral smell before traveling to the ocean and a good meal.

Once she had eaten her fill, Mei Shilin was content to float lazily letting the winds carry her forth as she thought. Even up high she could hear the pulse of the earth as if a second heart beat in her chest. It had been this way her entire life and she was glad of it. Still in this moment she considered what she should do. She did not like this feeling of unease the earth had about humanity's encroachment. It bothered her to feel the tranquil earth out of balance. So after a time of deep thought she decided she would meet a human and gather some knowledge on these strange creatures. Before now she had always kept away from human settlements, even when others of her kind sought them out to understand them, she had been happy enough with the earth and nature. She had run across a warrior or two in her time, but they had always either avoided her with a deep reverence or sought her ought. Those that sought her out found their path oft went the wrong way or that they came upon a dead end. Mei Shilin had never hurt them just encouraged them to continue on their way elsewhere.

With her mind set up, Mei Shilin took in her current altitude. She lowered down traveling below the clouds and shivering a little. It was cold here and from what she could tell a few days had passed. The winds had carried her far from her usual home. Yet she was not lost, because she always knew where exactly on the planet she was and where her cave was. No being as attuned to the earth could ever hope, or fear, getting lost. Mei Shilin traveled along the colder currents flying by islands but finding not one she liked. Some were uninhabited by humans, while others where inhabited by vicious warlike humans. Finally she found one to her liking and hovered just in the clouds, peeking down at them. It was an island of brute like beings but these were different. For among them traveled dragons, mostly foreign dragons to her, but dragons nonetheless. Mei Shilin noted that the dragons outnumbered the humans and seemed quite fond of the wingless two-legged creatures. She watched for a time struggling to decide what one to follow when she noted a dragon she did recognise. Well not exactly recognise as she had never seen him before this day. However he was of the same type of dragon as her. He was a purple dragon who did not have a special affinity to an element but nonetheless was from the same part of the planet as her. Mei Shilin watched intently as a small yellow haired human climbed onto the back of his neck,  gripping his horns tightly, and laughing as he suddenly rose up with a woosh. Then the pair were gliding off across the ocean, dipping down near the water, as a pack of small (Terrible Terrror) wild dragons splashed and flew about them happily for a time. Mei Shilin followed the two keeping to the clouds and watching them interact.

The pair landed on a distant island, the small dragons long ago having gotten distracted and gone off to inspect something else, leaving the two on the wild Island. Mei Shilin hovered above feeling the island in her head. She could tell that wild men, like the girl, lived here as well but they felt different. The houses they built were more sparse and there wasn't a dragon on the island. Mei Shilin got a feeling of unease as she watched the two of them disappear into the thick forest. Forgetting her mission of watching from afar, she lowered down and followed their trail into the thick and dark depths. The earth seemed uneasy here more so than on the girl's Island. In fact she'd sensed an almost peace on that Island as if the earth was content there. It had cemented her desire to study these strange beings. As Mei Shilin worked her way through the thicker jungle, finding it harder to get through, she heard a human cry and then a draconic roar of fury.

Mei Shilin tried to follow the trail but found herself getting off course the longer it took. She heard another cry, a painfilled human one, then a wild roar of savages and a draconic bugle of fury. With a shake of her head she urged the earth to help and open a path. The ground shook and shifted sending trees to the left and right making a perfect path for her. Mei Shilin flew as fast as she could and emerged on a frightening sight indeed.

Her purple brother was tied down by ropes and wild men pilled atop him. He bled slightly from the fierce fight he'd put up. Looking at the earth she could see the wreckage from the fierce battle and she was at first surprised he was easily overtaken. Then she saw why. The leader of the wild men, a savage looking individual, had the girl tied to a tree with a blade to her throat. He was speaking in a strange language that the dragon seemed to understand. He in turn looked even more enraged as he fought savagely. Mei Shilin listened intently to the words spoken and soon she understood too. It was inherent in most dragons to quickly pick up strange languages and understand them.

"Stop struggling! You belong to me! This viking will give her secret before she dies. Then we too own dragons! "Okay it was more of a rough translation because she still didn't understand all of his words. Some sounded a bit course and rude. Mei Shilin looked to her brother, who was salivating with anger, and then at the human girl who was mouthing 'Sorry Pol. Love you.' She could tell the human was preparing for death. Still she faced it bravely. The girl glared at the wild man and refused to cry. A true warrior.

Mei Shilin had, had enough. Normally she wouldn't be so rash, but something about the girl struck her. Maybe it was her courage. Maybe it was her words. Or perhaps the look in her eyes as she said goodbye to the dragon. Either way Mei Shilin could not allow this to happen. So she murmured to the earth again asking for its help, for its power. Mei Shilin felt the earth below her and smiled as she came upon a natural layer of quartz. She called it forth shaping it into spears and urging the earth to send them shooting up. At about the time the quartz neared the outer layer of earth a wild man cried out pointing at her but it was too late. The spears shot up from the earth spearing, and wounding several, and frightening others. Mei Shilin didn't give them time to react as she urged the earth to rock and shake violently. During this the spears retracted, moved, and shot up again injuring a few more. The wild men went crazy with panic as the very earth rejected them. They quickly forgot their leader as they ran, fell, and went screaming into the forest.

Her brother rose up, quickly shaking off the ropes, and flying at the leader with a roar of fury. Mei watched him dispatch the terrified leader, who'd lost his blade,  while the shaking continued. She allowed the quartz to return to its home deep in the earth. However Mei Shilin continued to urge the shaking though at a slower rate. This would discourage any wild men from returning. She watched the girl embrace the dragon and whisper into his ear.

Mei Shilin's eyes opened wide in surprise as the girl, and dragon, made their way over to her. She noted with interest that the girl bowed low at the waist. The humans back home had done the same whenever they saw her. Some sort of sign of respect she supposed. She nodded her head watching as the girl stopped a few feet in front of her.

"Thank you for saving us. I am deeply in your debt,"she bowed again and seemed to be leaking from her eyes. How interesting. Mei Shilin noted the dragon watching her as well. He nodded his head in thanks but seemed a bit awed. She saw the recognition flare in his eyes before he too did his own bow, or dip, in the air. So he'd recognised her as a dragon of the earth. Mei Shilin nodded her head to him and looked back at the human.

"I don't even know what to call you, but thank you again. Especially for saving Polaris. I couldn't stand it if those terrible vikings hurt him, "she blinked again and put her hand on the side of his face. The dragon rumbled soothingly to her. Mei Shilin found her interest in their relationship growing. A dragon and a human. Perhaps she'd stick around. In answer the the question she urged the dirt to form her name and it's meaning. "Mei... Shi.. Lin..." the girl worked at forming the strange words. A flower bloomed at her feet when she got it right and she smiled, "thank you Mei Shilin."

It took a bit of time before she made the girl understand her desire to come with her and learn her ways. The girl kept looking back as she followed still not believing another Chinese Dragon was coming with her. Polaris took her addition calmly, though he kept watching her as they flew, with a surprised look on his face. Later on Mei Shilin found out from him that there were few of her kind left. Those gifted with an element. In fact they had thought them all gone until now. Mei Shilin informed him that she felt the others out there, that there were still a handful left, and like her they still existed. When she informed him of her mission he had shrugged and told her if that was what she wanted then Berk was the best place for her. She'd understand humans best here and their special relationship with dragons was a bonus. He asked what she would do after and she smiled and said 'the earth will tell me'. He had smiled shyly at her and then said it was time to rest now.

Mei Shilin had watched him go and then looked out the stable at the moonlit night. She had slept for a long time, she wasn't tired yet but she'd wait for the morning to come so she could study these strange humans called Vikings and why their Island seemed so in tune with mother earth. Perhaps it was their connection to the dragons. Mei Shilin was lost in thought as the night slowly passed by and the humans and dragons about her slept. This was going to be an interesting adventure she thought.

(it was longer than I expected but I'm happy with it. Hopefully I got any and all errors, but if not apologies autocorrect does not like me at all. Thank you for considering me for Mei Shilin.)

There are still a scant few

There are still a scant few grammatical and spelling errors here and there, but nothing serious enough to affect your outcome.

Important to know, though: Earth and Wood are not the same. Mei Shilin is Earth. You can think of this power as being like Earth bending in Avatar: The Last Airbender. She does not have the power to stimulate growth or life.

Congratulations.

Mei Shilin (魅石林) is yours.

Thank you so much for her!

Thank you so much for her! I'll take good care of her. And yes I correct and correct my writing, but it randomly changes words and things. Sometimes I'll correct the same thing three or four times. I'm seriously considering a different keyboard application to see if that'll fix it. It's rather annoying and seems to have gotten worse these last few weeks.

BTW I still plan to lurk this page because I love these dragons and it's fun to read people's posts. These are so beautiful!

Zhanhuo Attempt #2

Yes, Zhanhuo attempt #2. This time, I didn't write at 2 am. (Unlike last time XD, *hides face*)

Name: Zhanhuo

Personality: He is fierce, warlike, and hot tempered.

Back Story:

Journal entry #221 - Zhanhuo

I had recently begun my research on this ancient elusive dragon. After visiting enough ancient archaeology sites in China, recording interpretations of the dragon by the locals on this dragon and reading enough archaic texts by the people that lived long before.

Finally, I may put together a brief history of Zhanhuo and his doings when during the time he existed.

In ancient Chinese folklore, the mighty serpent-like dragon named Zhanhuo is responsible for the element of fire. Admired for his ferocity and feared for his power, Zhanhuo served as a point of worship to the people of Ancient China. Zhanhuo was the first dragon among many that ruled over the Ancient men and women. The dragon viewed humanity as a lesser species, and kept a tyrannical hold on mankind.

Being a fully-grown dragon, Zhanhuo was both massive and powerful, possessing physical strength great enough to crush stone with ease. He was able to fly without wings and had the ability to command and breathe streams of searing hot flame from his mouth. Typically, Chinese dragons,(or now known as Oriental Serpentfangs) are water dragons that may breathe jets of pressurized water form their maw. Some old scriptures by ancient people depicted that he was gifted with god-like abilities. His entire body was imbued with fire with the intensity of a thousand stars, as his ruby hide was seen to glow in the darkness of the night, and his usual paths were said to have been melted by his passage. The ancient people were ambivalent toward Zhanhuo, although he embodied the physical valor necessary for success and honor in war, he was a dangerous force, overwhelming, insatiable in battle. Even destructive, and man-slaughtering as he did not hesitate to annihilate any living being that stands in his way.

Although Zhanhuo received occasional sacrifice from armies going to war, the deity had a formal shrine and cult at only a few sites. At ancient China, however, each company of youths or soldiers sacrificed sheep to him before engaging in ritualistic fighting and wars. The night-time sacrifice of sheep to Zhanhuo became assimilated to the cult of war. Zhanhuo was viewed primarily as a destructive and destabilizing force. He represented military power as a way to secure people, and was a father of the ancient people. The people carried emblems and banners depicting the mighty and red flame-bearing dragon during wars at the time. They had even carried out festivals, most notably known as "Festival of Fires", if they reign victorious in the said wars.

Even when he uses his fire to protect and punish, the flames always give way to new life. After he unleashes his fiery wrath upon the land, new life grows from the old. Small plants grow from the remnants of charred trees. Light-loving plants move into the area. His fires create open spaces where wildflowers and berry bushes can grow. As the fires end, the few unscathed survivors will return and rebuild, looking for their niche in this changed landscape, and as it has throughout its history.

It's rather unknown that whether he and his kind had made their way though the present as dragons of all kinds waged wars among one another in ancient times. Lightning was heavenly fire sent to stop the dragon fights, for most dragons fear fire. This last sentence might be considered odd in view of the dragon's own fiery breath. This might explain why dragons are considered gone forever or supposedly extinct in present times.

This is my research for now. There are more mysteries to this dragon waiting to unfold. I am currently on a quest to track down that very legendary dragon. People might think that I'm out of my mind, absurd, that dragons do not exist.

But, speaking of the war-like dragon, Zhanhuo, I still believe he exists.

His mystic flames of war yet waiting to be unleashed upon the world once more.

~~~
(I was kinda bored and wanted to try once more. Decided to go to a more historical/journal approach this time. Ayy, I hope it's alright. ;w;)
Hrrrm...   While it is an
Hrrrm...
While it is an interesting take on the excercise, it still doesn't quite stand out. Perhaps I have come to expect too much from you, or maybe my ridiculous backstory demands have burnt you out a bit, but I'm still not seeing any of his traits. These traits are not the only traits the dragons possess, this is true. However, when you see these dragons, those three traits should be the things that most immediately come to mind. While the story is an interesting documentary-like view, it still doesn't communicate any of his ferocity, temperamental behavior, or his warlike personality. This is the kind of dragon that could be casually flying along in one moment, and smothering a hapless village in a sea of flames simply because someone looked at him in a way he didn't like. Both your stories make him out to be far more benevolent and admirable than he actually is.
Like I said, I would love to see you take Zhanhuo home. You've made a very nice home for many of my dragons, and hopefully you will continue to make homes for those to come. But with this level of story, I just can't bring myself to accept it.
-shrugs-
Well, I do admit that it was a measly try. I feel a little burnt out. I'm not getting some inspiration lately.
I really don't know what to write for this guy. He seems too complicated to me.
But, hey, maybe I shouldn't be worthy of keeping Zhanhuo.
Guess I'll try adopting dragons other than Zhanhuo for now. Looking forward to new arrivals though.
