Introducing the Golden Snitch Dragons! ~Adoptables~
Hello everyone! Random finally pulled through and finished up a dragon species that I've been meaning to create for months, and finally got around to it last November. Heh...
So these dragons are from the world of Harry Potter, with each based off a snitch and one of the four Hogwarts Houses. The one you see above is the Hufflepuff dragon, Newt, which I'm afraid to say I'm going to keep.
Without further ado, the species information!
~Info~
Golden Snitch Dragons are rare, miniature dragons known for their speed, agility, and colorful personalities. Similar in looks to the popular Snitches from the wizarding game Quidditch, these dragons have delicate silvery wings with shimmering gold or silver scales. However, no two Snitch Dragons are completely alike. Each one seen or caught has differed from the other members of it's species, even in only the most minor ways.
Tracking!
EDIT: Ahhhhhhhhhh I waited too long and now the Ravenclaw one is gone *smol tear*
Have you considered making Ilvermorny Golden Snitch dragons? Just a thought, of course ^^
Well I WAS going to ask you to save the Gryffindor one but your not saving so I guess I'll be tracking! I'll write the backstory once I figure out how XD. (Yea, I know nothing about Harry potter except the houses and parnosis. And yes I know I spelled parnosis wrong :P)

Gender:
Male
Personality:
Reggie is hard headed and studdorn. He doesn't like to shoes his emotions to others. He very anti social. He enjoys going to potions and defense against the dark arts with me. He also has problems with Gryndor kids. Reggie loves dried meet with more dried meat. He also doesn't like heights.
Backstory:
I just got out potions when I went outside to get some fresh air. So I walked outside and I heard something squealing. I looked out into the brush and saw the little snake there. I tried to pick him up but he hissed at me. So I pretend to turn around and quickly shoot back and grabbed him by the tail. I wasn't trying to be mean but he looked hungry and hurt.
So I brought him into my dormitory (Ravenclaw) and set him on my bed. He tried to slither away but I kept him on the bed. He didn't look very odd so I put him in a cup while I went and got him some food. I didn't know what he liked so I brought up some dried meat and some grapes. I tried the grapes on him first to see if he was a vegetarian. But he wasn't so I gave him the dried meat. He finally took but he shoot me a glare telling me that he wasn't mine just yet. So I picked him up to see if he was also hurt. On his underbelly, he had a thorn probably from the brush I found him in. So I pulled it out. He didn't seem to be hurt or not. He easily could have been without me noticing but he looked just fine. I kept him in my dorm for the rest of the year to make sure he didnt get hrs again. Over time he began to like me and I grew to love him. We have been together ever since.

THEY'RE HERE THEY'RE HERE THEY'RE HERE
Name: Rowena (what else?)
Age: Uncertain. Several decades at least.
Gender: Female
Personality: Rowena is quiet, but not because she's shy. She's more... arrogant. She's highly strategic and constantly creams everyone at chess. She considers humans to be beneath her, but will deign to consort with a few she has deemed worthy.
Backstory: I was glancing out the window of my tower when I first saw her fly past. I was instantly in love with the shimmering swirls of gold on her body, the feathers on her elbows, and her elegant, floating wings. I saw the golden ball she was carrying, carved with words in an elaborate script, but before I could make out the words, she was gone.
It took me weeks to find her again. She was perched on top of the tower, where she apparently made her home, and it was quite a challenge to get up there. She flew away whenever I tried to approach her with a broomstick; she seemed to consider it cheating. So I had to climb. When I reached her, she wouldn't let me approach. She simply rolled the ball towards me, and I saw that every inch was covered in riddles, ones much harder than the ones the common room door usually gave me. She seemed to have collected the best ones for a long time, decades, maybe centuries. I examined them all thoroughly, until I could recite them backwards in my sleep, but I had no idea. Defeated, I was forced to retreat.
I spent hours every day in the library, reading every book remotely related to any of the riddles. It was hard work, but I'm stubborn. After three weeks of hard studying, I was ready. I returned to the tower, and when she returned the ball to me, I answered her riddles. She consented to allow me to come close to her and to touch her. She refused to let me ride her, though.
After that, she came down to the common room sometimes. Sometimes she'd curl up in front of the fire or sit next to me and read over me shoulder as I did my homework--that drove me crazy, because she was constantly making disapproving noises when she felt I did something wrong and always made me second-guess myself, but I got great grades on those assignments! Most of the time, though, she played chess with anyone and everyone who was willing to play her. After the first three times she creamed them, most people weren't willing anymore. But like I said, I'm stubborn. I read books about chess technique, learned from my mistakes, watched her technique as I played her time and time again, and one fateful day, I beat her.
She allowed me to ride on her back for the first time.
I'll never forget that day. It was different entirely from broomstick, hippogriff, winged horse, or any other method of flying I've ever tried, and it was better than any of them. The next day, as I climbed up to her tower as usual, I expected another ride, but I was wrong. She would only grant me a ride after I had beaten her at chess, which was a rare occurence no matter what I did. But it was worth being creamed a thousand times over just for one flight.
Extra: This is the Ravenclaw dragon.
*happy noises*
I didn't see the size in your description and couldn't quite tell what was on the egg. I can make her smaller and unridable if you want, but I kind of like the idea of her being really old. For one thing, it explains how she has so much practice at chess, and also why she doesn't usually like humans--it's like an adult conversing with a five-year-old, most of it is irrelevant babble, but if you find a five-year-old that's unusually smart and can actually talk to you interestingly, you'll be more ready to hang out with them.

Name:
Firefawk
Age:
Not sure. But definitely in his late teens
Gender: (Optional)
Male
Personality: (1 paragraph minimum)
Firefawk is most well described like a Griffin. He prides himself in being high and mighty, even though most of the time he is not. He's snarky and sarcastic, lots of the time making fun of others. Firefawk can also be a bit er, forgetful. He's forgotten many things over the years, and even lost his orb once, snitch made him very frantic. He's also VERY proud and stubborn; almost nothing can move him. But he is also very heroic and caring. Once you gain his complete trust he will be with you to the end.
Backstory: (NOTE: I'm sorry if this isn't good enough for you. I've never read Harry potter myself so I'm just riding off of what my friends have told me and what I've read and seen here and there :P)
Olivia yawned and closed her spell book with a slap. Studying shapeshifting was hard work. Especially when your neighbors were so loud. She yawned once more and glanced up at the clock. Then she jumped to her feet. "Oh no! I'm late to meet Brooklyn and rayven!" Brooklyn and rayven, her two best friends at the school, were supposed to meet her at the bridge. They were going to practice their broom flying. Olivia hurrily stuffed her books into her bag, along with her wand, then ran as fast as she could out of the library.
She was still tired, but she had to get to the bridge before she missed them. She ran out of the school gates, then stopped when she noticed a gleaming by the stone walls. Olivia walked over and bent down, curious. "What is this?" She picked up the golden orb. Then she stopped. She could feel the hot breath of something behind her. She turned slowly, and came face to face with a dragon. It had fiery eyes and its tails looked like they were aflame. It growled at her and spread it wings menacingly.
Olivia planted her hands on her hips. "Oh what do you want you overgrown lizard?" The Dragon stopped when she said that and stared surprised at her. No one had talked to him like that. Olivia, however, was no longer paying attention. She picked up the orb and stuffed it into her bag. "Now if you'll excuse me mister grumpypants, I've got a meeting I'm late to. And then I need to find the owner of this orb." The Dragon roared in her face, then snatched the bag from her.
"Hey! That's mine!" Olivia shrieked. The Dragon shook out the contents then picked up the golden orb. It cradled it in its claws caringly. Olivia seemed to understand then. "Oh! That was YOUR orb, wasn't it?" She snapped her fingers. "Darn! I knew I should have played more attention in mythical beasts class!" The Dragon seemed to laugh at her. Olivia frowned again. "What? Are you laughing at me? I'm a wizard for your information! I could zap you in..offff!"
The Dragon suddenly picked her up in his talons and flew up into the sky. "Hey! Watch it! Your talons are sharp!" The Dragon glided over the bridge. Down below, Olivia could make out the tiny shapes of her friends. "There they are! Hey big guy, would you mind dropping me off? I'm late, remember?" The Dragon looked down to where she was pointing, then nodded his head up and down. He folded in his wings and they both plunged down.
The Dragon re-opened his wings once they were close, then tossed Olivia onto the bridge. Olivia stumbled then fell to a heap in front of her friends. She dusted herself off then yelled after it. "Hey! I wanted go get here in one piece!" She grumbled some more as she dusted herself off. "Dragons, so inconsiderate." She turned to her two friends. "Sorry about that. I think my new friend as being grouchy."
Brooklyn's mouth stood wide open. "How did you of all people train a dragon?" Olivia shrugged. "I didn't. Apparently he just wanted to give me a lift." Rayven shook her head. "I don't think so. That was a golden snitch. They only bond with people who are compatible with them in personality." Olivia frowned. "So your saying I'm as grumpy as him?" Rayven smirked. "Much more. Now come on, enough talk about your new dragon pal. Let's get to our broom flying." Olivia shrugged. "Ok." She glanced back to where she had seen the Dragon last. "Hope he doesn't stay away too long. That flight was kinda fun."

It's the Gryffindor one I want ^^
Oh! And i also want to try for the special egg :D
Oh XD Whoops. Yea, I'd better find a way to explain that. But before I do, I must ask you a question. Is there such thing as a growth potion or spell? Because if there is, I can write a prequel to what happened to make him big. And yes, I'll send you the pm soon! ;D you really think my writing was good? aww, shucks XD that wasnt even my best work. I've writen backstories that have taken me more then a week to finish (you should read the one i wrote for a lengendary ravenclaw dragon O.O oh my thor it took so long)
EDIT: im just going to write the explamation here. i can change it if its unacturate or something like that ^^
Firefawk sat hunched over in a bush, his little golden orb clasped tightly in his clawed hands. It was a cold day, & even his fire seemed barely anything against the howling wind. He squeaked when he heard some voices. big voices. He liked to pretend he was big, but humans were HUGE. Firefawk huffed & snorted out a plume of steam. Why did he have to be the size of a small housecat?
He curled up tighter around his orb & layed his claws over his snout. The voices got louder. Friefawk grumbled & used both claws to cover his ears. These humans were getting unbearable. Maybe he could scare them off. But then again he was tiny. Why did everything revole around size? Suddenly a beam of light shot out of no where and struck him in the chest. The jolt acted like a lightning bolt & send waves of energy rocketing through his body. He fell backward from the force & gripped his ball tightly in his claws.
What was going on? The energy kept getting stronger, & now that he was holdin his ball the energy went into that too. It started glowing like the golden sun. Suddenly everything around him began to shrink & he started going up, & up, & up, untill he was as big as the stone wall. He yawned a big gapping yawn as if he had been sleeping for centuries, then lowered his neck down to the humans. He scoffed. "Ha!" he thought. "These humans aren't as big as i thought. And they look so puny and terrified! Why was i afraid of them before?" He sucked in a deep breath, then roared as loud as he could muster.
The humans dropped their wands & ran, screaming inside the walls of the fortress. Firefawk spread his now big and majestic wings. He grinned a big, toothy grin. "This is perfect! Oh how i'm going to love being bigger then a human!" he looked downward, scooped up his now much bigger & better golden orb, & took off lumbering through the bushes. "Just wait till i show everyone how big i am! This is just perfect!"
Jist of the story. New wizards were fooling around with their wands outside the school walls. One shot into the bush & bing bam boom, theres a big dragon XD is that good enough?
Yay! I did it! And I had no idea what I was doing! XD. But really, thanks :) Firefawk is going to have a nice stay in my siggy. And just wait till I tell my friend I wrote this AND succeeded! XD. (She thinks I wouldn't know Harry potter if he went flying above me on a broomstick XD)
Aww, the Ravenclaw one was taken! :(
Name:
Salazar
Age:
9
Gender: (Optional)
Male
Personality: (1 paragraph minimum)
Salazar LOVES to sleep. He sleeps almost constantly, and when he's awake, he's grumpy, arrogant, and acting high-and-mighty. He also loves food. When he's not sleeping, he's probably eating. The only person he trusts is his owner, Khazah. Even though he's pretty small for his size, he acts as large as a Hungarian Horntail.
Backstory: (2 paragraphs minimum)
Khazah looked around the Slytherin common room with disgust. She hated it under the lake. It was cold, dark, and you could always hear the Giant Squid moaning nearby. I wish the common room was at least in a cave or something. It's too creepy under here. She loved the open air of the lakeside, even though Slytherins were supposed to be dark and brooding and hateful.
She got up from the h.ard chair and stomped out. Walking through the hallways, she went to the Great Hall and got Draco Malfoy, her best/boyfriend. They walked out to the Black Lake, holding each other's hands. As they talked about thair classes and how much they disliked Snape, a bush quivered on their left. They jumped back, Draco pushing Khazah behind him.
"Draco, what is that?" she asked.
"I don't know." he replied. He pulled his wand out of his robes, and pointed it at the bush.
"Stupefy!"
A small thud.
They walked up to the bush and parted the leaves. Under it was a silver and green dragon, small as a cat and clutching a small ball. Draco picked it up and cradled it.
"Can't just leave it here, can we?"
I love it when he shows his caring side, he's so sweet to me and cold to others..
They walked back up to the castle, into Draco's dorm, and onto his bed, where they waited for the dragon to wake up.
"Hey, it has Slytherin colors. What are you gonna name it?" Draco asked.
"Salazar."
Extra:
I would like the Slytherin dragon.

Name:
Salazar
Age:
7
Gender: (Optional)
Male
Personality: (1 paragraph minimum)
Gruff, cold, haughty, uncaring. He isn't very kind to people he doesn't trust. He doesn't care about many things except for his golden orb, which he keeps polished so he can stare at himself all day. There could be people Avada Kedavra-ing everywhere and he would still look at his reflection. He only sleeps on Khazah's scarf.
Backstory: (2 paragraphs minimum)
LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN SHALL WE?!
Khazah looked around the Slytherin common room with an exasperated sigh. Why is it so cold in here? A dragon's fire would freeze, she thought. She rubbed her arms, shivering.
"I'm going for a walk," she said to Draco, her best friend. A lot of people looked down their nose at her for being friends with him, but what they didn't know is that their parents had all gone to school together and had been best friends as well.
"I'll come with you." he replied.
They walked out the common room door, into the hallway. It was still slightly chilly, but that was to be expected. It was winter, after all. Christmas Eve, to be exact. They walked through the hallways and down the ever-changing staircases to the school courtyard. Going to the Black Lake, they walked along the shore, their feet crunching the thin layer of ice over the snow. They looked at each other deviously, a mischevious* glint in their eyes. They lurched to opposite sides of each other, grabbing handfuls of snow and throwing them at each other.
About half an hour elapsed before Draco finally got Khazah down her back with a big snowball. Shrieking, she tried to hit him with one, but it flew past him into the trees, hitting with a muffled squeak. Wait, a squeak? They inched towards the tree as the lower branches quivered slightly. A silver-and-green tail emerged, and after it followed shining silver scales that covered the body of this strange creature, interrupted with the same green on the tail. After the head was shaken free, Khazah realized it was a cat-sized dragon, that strangely clutched an ornate golden ball with its front feet. She gasped, and upon hearing the noise, it whipped around and stared at her with unblinking eyes. It hissed, and let loose a burst of white fire that singed her hair. It flew straight at them, barely missing Khazah's pompom-topped Slytherin hat.
"Salazar, come back!" she yelled.
"You've already named it?" Draco stared at her like she was crazy.
"Um, DUH!"
She chased after the tiny dragon, eventually getting it to fly into one of the hallways of the castle. "Someone catch it!" she yelled.
"Accio...DRAGON?" a voice yelled. The dragon shot towards a classroom door and hands reached out and grabbed it. A sleeping spell was uttered, and the dragon slipped into a deep sleep. As they reached the classroom door, Harry Potter handed Khazah the dragon.
"Oh... Thanks, Potter." Khazah didn't exactly like Harry, but she didn't hate him like Draco did.
"No problem."
~~~~
She took the dragon back to the common room and into her dormitory before it woke up. When it did, it looked around, then at her, and it got a contented look on its face. It layed its head back down onto its paws and fell back asleep.
"Welcome home, Salazar."
Chibi Dark Mark
(Not really a dark mark tbh)
~Challenger's Egg~
I feel bad for keeping one of the original four, so to make up for it, I've decided to do a customizable egg.
The Challenger's Egg.
To win this egg, you complete four challenges imposed upon you in a PM with Random herself. These challenges will test your Courage, Intelligence, Ability, and Luck. Should you pass with the highest score, the egg and the hatchling within are yours to claim and customize.
Each section is graded by a number of points. The first person to reach 85 or higher wins. However, if no one manages to get to 85 by the end of December, I'll give the egg to the person with the highest score, to be fair.
Good Luck!!
I forgot to mention in the original post that you may only adopt 1 dragon per person, simce there's only three. The bonus Snake and the Challenger's Egg are exceptions to this rule.
Since everyone seems to be confused about this, I'll clear it up here. Golden Snitch Dragons are normally very small, about the size of a Terrible Terror. There can be magical or freak-accident-type reasons for them to be larger in size, but those are normally rare.
You may now post.
