I listened to everyone discussing about the festival. A reptilian hybrid, Baske, jumped into the conversation, asking if she could go.
Most voiced their opinions against her going. From what I knew about her, her personality would get them found out and she wasn't very humanoid. I knew from experience people had a thing about irregularities.
While I did agree with everyone else, I couldn't help but feel bad and reject her wholly.
“Mm..I don’t know..” I said indecisively. “Humans are picky about appearances...but I suppose we can work out some sort of compromise.”

I hummed to myself, two indecisive, one for, another against. I remembered Baske constantly asking about bamboo and I knew she would never find any out here. "I do not expect appearances to be a problem" I said to Aki, I sighed and turned to Baske and Ryu "if you are to go Baske you will have to be close to silent, speaking only in low tones, and will remain with Ryu and the group the entire time!" I told her, I knew I could trust Ryu to stay close by and hopefully keep close tabs on Baske, they seemed to do with one another. "If you are able to do just that you may come and we will try to get you some bamboo while in the city, we need you to follow what I said wo that we all stay safe from the scientists" I told her, placing my hands in my pockets, waiting to see how she would respond to the strict rules.

Faolan looked uncertain. "I don't know Baske" he said. Rita was completely against her going to the festival, while Ryu came and gave reasons that she should be able to go. Aki wasn't quite sure either. Finally Faolan agreed to let her go as long as she kept quiet and stayed close to Ryu. He also mentioned something about finding bamboo for her, but she doubted it, why would bamboo be in a city? That didn't make any sense! Faolan looked at her, waiting for her to agree or disagree with his rules.

Baske stared thoughtfully at the ground for a second, her frill moving back and forth. Then she looked Faolan in the eye, "Ok," she said.

~Rita Ritz~

The others continued trying to decide weather Baske should go to the festival or not. Faolan said Baske could come, but only if she followed strict rules. Baske agreed. Rita shot Baske a suspicious look, she seemed truthful enough, but... "I still don't think Baske should go-," she started to say, then remembered something Faolan had said earlier, "Wait, Faolan, are you going? Because you shouldn't, you're too conspicuous," she said. "Someone like Aki or... Sea Fern-" she said, noticing Sea Fern listening in, "wouldn't stand out so much. A hybrid like me, or you, or Tigerlily-" here she shot Tigerlily an apologetic glance, "Would be much to noticeable. Baske and Ryu might be alright, but definitely not you or Tigerlily, you're too... big and... real looking," Rita finished.

“I do not expect appearances to be a problem,” Faolan assured me before giving his jurisdiction to Baske who, after some contemplating, agreed to his terms.

Following that problem being resolved, Rita then brought up the issue of some hybrids looking too real. “I suppose height can be a factor to account for,” I mused. “People generally aren’t as tall as a few of you. But I can visualize very life-like costumes...although I’ll say, most of the costumes people’ll wear probably won’t be as elaborate as our hybrid features.”

Well, doesn’t that add to this predicament, I thought. What to do..

I listned to what Rita said and realized that, indeed, I was abnormally tall and it would be hard to pass as a human in costume. I put a hand under my chin and thought, looking over at Tigerlily who could also would also have a hard time passing as a human though she would have a better time than I would. "I do believe Tigerliliy could pass if she is careful" I said, still thinking, "but you are right about me, I am to tall and even with my cloak I think my wings might cause to many problems" I admitted, waving my hand to dismiss any questions about the cloak I mentioned, "I can, however, wait at the grocery store that my family friend and trustworthy human, runs" I said, nodding to myself, "we can use that place as a sort of base for our city missions and it is close enough to the camp that I can get back here quickly if need be" I finished

Cape? I wondered but didn’t say anything as the dragon hybrid waved it off.

“I can, however, wait at the grocery store that my family friend and trustworthy human, runs,” he then added, “we can use that place as a sort of base for our city missions and it is close enough to the camp that I can get back here quickly if need be.”

I didn’t see anything wrong with that, “Sounds fine to me.”

Hawk blushed slightly in embarrassment, looking the other way and mumbling, “I’m not that forgetful all the time.”
“But, I’ll take your word that it’ll be an unforgettable memory,” He then added, poking my cheek playfully. “Now teach me about what people do at festivals. After all I need to know proper edicate before I go in.”
Biting my lip, I thought about the different things people do there and the different behaviors they express including my own and soon I figured out how to explain it. "Well people mainly go to festivals to have fun and hang out with their familys and close friends. They all could play games to win prizes whether it's a stuffed bear or gold fish, they could enjoy eating delicious foods like cotton candy or barbecued ribs, they could even enjoy listening and dancing to music. Some festivals even have exciting rides to ride on," I explained with my tone of voice emphasizing the pleasantness of the festival. "And technically speaking, there's really no proper etiquettes to go by you just have to be yourself. Act like the way you normally act."

Suddenly I heard my name being pronounced by Rita so I casually twitched an ear in her direction and listened. "Would be much to noticeable. Baske and Ryu might be alright, but definitely not you or Tigerlily, you're too... big and... real looking." I felt slightly down at hearing this. I stripped off a piece of meat from the half-eaten rabbit and popped it into my mouth, pretending that I didn't hear what she said but I listened as Aki voiced her opinion on the matter before Faolan spoke up. "I do believe Tigerlily could pass if she is careful but you are right about me, I am to tall and even with my cloak I think my wings might cause to many problems. I can, however, wait at the grocery store that my family friend and trustworthy human, runs. We can use that place as a sort of base for our city missions and it is close enough to the camp that I can get back here quickly if need be."
I swear that if I wasn't pretending to not hear them, I would of ran over and hugged that black dragon.
YES! SAVED BY THE DRAGON IN BLACK HAHA!

As I ate, I listened as the others chatted about the festival and by the time they got to discussing about who would be going to the festival, the quail was consumed and my lack of energy was fully restored. And now that my energy is back to where it should be, I could now fulfill my promise to Faolan's father and take out those trackers on Ryu and Baske before we all go to town. Grabbing my med bag, I stood up and went over to them. "Seems like things are settled over here," I smiled looking at them all. "Faolan, would it be ok if I steal Ryu and Baske for a moment?"

Aki seemed to agree with her, saying that they were taller than most people and that their hybrid features were more elaborate then most costumes. Faolan thought for a second. "I do believe Tigerlily could pass if she is careful, but you are right about me, I am too tall and even with my cloak I think my wings might cause too many problems" he said. 'Cloak? When did Faolan get a cloak?' Rita wondered. "I can, however, wait at the grocery store that my family friend and trustworthy human, runs," Faolan continued, "We can use that place as a sort of base for our city missions and it is close enough to the camp that I can get back here quickly if need be," he finished. Rita nodded, "That should be Ok..." Rita said, glad that they had been able to compromise. She suddenly felt a bit guilty for pointing out how conspicuous Faolan was, because now he wouldn't be able to enjoy the festival, but, she reminded herself, this wasn't some fun outing, this was a mission to get supplies, and Faolan was too noticeable, so she had had to point it out. She didn't want the hybrids to end up get chased by the police or worse, hunters. "So the ones going to the city are you, Aki, Tigerlily, Baske, and Ryu?" Rita asked "I'm not going of course, I'm just as noticeable as you," she added, 'With such an obvious and hard to cover up thing like these fangs, people would immediately notice me, and then they would take a closer look at my costume, and then realize it's not a costume,' Rita reasoned.

~Sea Fern~

Faolan went on about the festival, and then there was a discussion about weather Baske could go to the festival or not. And then Rita pointed out how obvious some hybrids were and they started taking about that. Sea Fern wasn't worried though, like Rita said, she wouldn't stand out much, she could even hide her tail under her dress. "So the ones going to the city are you, Aki, Tigerlily, Baske, and Ryu?" Rita asked. "And me! I'm going too!" Sea Fern said, pointing to herself.

~Baske~

Rita was talking about something, but Baske wasn't listening, she was thinking about the festival. 'I've never been to a festival before, I wonder what it's like, I hope it's interesting,' she thought. Then Elizabeth walked over and asked if she could steal her and Ryu for a moment. "Steal? Why not just borrow us, wouldn't that be easier?" Baske asked.

Xenophon watched the hybrids converse, eating his deer and waving his antenna their way curiously. Alot of it went over his head due to his very limited vocabulary and lack of context combined, but he was interested nonetheless. It seemed like they'd be going somewhere, somewhere called a 'festival', but only a few could go for reasons he didn't quite understand. When humans were mentioned he tilted his head a little but the word being mentioned helped clear a few things up for him. He guessed this 'festival' place had humans and humans didn't like hybrids (that he knew of) yet somehow they could go anyways. It seemed strange with this mention of heights and costumes and such, or the reason for going there in the first place, but because the black dragon hybrid seemed all about it then they were going to do it.

He'd gnawed the carcass to the bone and was now working on finishing off that as well when a human walked up. Xenophon looked over at her, watching her with interest. He then heard Hawk's name get mentioned and glanced back over at the dragon hybrid who'd said it. 'Hawk?' he thought, 'Hawk is going? Going where? Festival, right.' he thought silently. He didn't exactly like that. Hawk was the only hybrid he actually knew here. He felt a bit nervous but at the same time wasn't sure if he should be because he didn't understand the situation exactly. He waved his antenna thoughtfully. "..Hat.. oo..ha't do?" He warbled, then paused while trying to think of the words and struggling to make the sounds. "..o..hh..We go.. ..hh...where?" He tried to ask. He really couldn't get the words he wanted. Quietly he stuck a bone in his mouth and chewed on it uncomfortably.

"Steal? Why not just borrow us, wouldn't that be easier?" Baske asked. I chuckled for moment finding humor in her inquiry. "Baske honey, it's just an expression." After I said this, Faolan shrugged and said that he didn't see a problem with me taking Baske and Ryu away for moment. So with approval from Faolan, I gestured for them to follow me to an area away from the others. It wasn't too far away rather you could say that it was a decent distance from the others.

"You two are probably wondering why I've taken you away from the exciting chatter about the festival and the reason for that is because yesterday around the afternoon Faolan's father came to me and informed me that you both have trackers underneath your skin. Ryu, your tracker is below your left shoulder blade and Baske, your's is just right of the lower back. And in order to take them out, I need to surgically remove them." I explained.

Elizabeth chuckled, "Baske honey, it's just an expression," she said. Baske followed Elizabeth a little ways from the main camp area. Elizabeth told them that yesterday Faolans father had told her that her and Ryu had trackers under their skin, and that she would have to surgically removed them. Baske's first thought was 'Faolan has a father? Do I know him?' Then she remembered the white dragon hybrid that looked like Faolan. Her second thought was 'So that was what he shot at us! Trackers!' She felt the bump on her back where the tracker was. Baske twisted around to try and look at it, tripped over her own tail and fell down on the grass. As she got up something finally registered, "Wait, surgically?! Isn't that gonna hurt?..." she asked.

I listened attentively as Tigerlily explained the different activities at a festival and that I just had to act how I normally do.

“Just act like I normally do,” I echoed the tiger-wolf hybrid. “Got it.”

Silence fell upon us and I couldn’t help but overhear the other hybrids discussing the festival. Upon the discussion of appearances, I realized that my beak might cause troubles.

“Ty, do you think I’ll be fine with my beak visible?” I asked.

Ryu

Several others gave their opinions before Faolan reached the verdict that Baske would go as long as she follow orders and remained silent and with the group at all times.

Rita and Aki brought up points about height but everything was resolved when Faolan mentioned the use of a family friend’s house as a base. Just then, Elizabeth came over and asked to steal me and Baske for a moment.

“Steal? Why not just borrow us, wouldn't that be easier?” Baske asked.

I had the same question, which Elizabeth answered saying that it was just an expression. The doctor then gestured for us to follow, leading us a good amount of distance that my sense of the others only gave me rough calculations.

“You two are probably wondering why I've taken you away from the exciting chatter about the festival and the reason for that is because yesterday around the afternoon Faolan's father came to me and informed me that you both have trackers underneath your skin. Ryu, your tracker is below your left shoulder blade and Baske, your's is just right of the lower back. And in order to take them out, I need to surgically remove them.” the doctor explained.

I was surprised at the news. “Trackers?”

Baske held similar thoughts and attempted to find it, tripping over herself in the process. I twisted my neck as far as I could and peered at my back, but couldn’t find the so called tracker anywhere.

“Wait, surgically?! Isn't that gonna hurt?...” the frilled lizard hybrid asked.

“Use a numbing device, she might,” I said. “If so, hurt, it won’t.”

Rita went over the list of those who were going to the festival which brought up a thought, since it’s a festival, I think it would be nice for everyone to enjoy it. But certain appearance problems might get in the way, as mentioned with Faolan. Plus this is for the sake of getting supplies. It's a shame, but maybe worth bringing up?
I opened my mouth slightly to speak but then closed it in a change of mind, awkwardly transitioning into a sigh.
I gazed about the camp, seeing more hybrids up and about. My eyes crossed the sleeping form of Triton and yet another idea crossed my mind.
“Hey, Faolan, you said you have a family friend here, right? Um..is it alright if I ask for a change of clothes for Triton? Since his is basically in tatters?” I asked.

“Ty, do you think I’ll be fine with my beak visible?” Hawk's voice snapped me away from my inner thoughts. I briefly glanced at his beak, he should be fine heck he looks more human than I do. "Of course, one little feature like your beak isn't going to rinse alarm besides you look more human than me," I replied optimistically before looking over his shoulder and noticing his bandaged up wing. "you know, you've had that bandage on your wing for a while now. Why don't we take it off to see if it healed?"

Ryu looked surprised by the news, “Trackers?”
Both of them held similar thoughts and attempted to find the trackers. Baske tripped over herself in the process while Ryu twisted his neck as far as he could to peer over his back and watching all this felt slightly comical to me.
“Wait, surgically?! Isn't that gonna hurt?...” Baske suddenly asked.
“Use a numbing device, she might,” Ryu answered before I could. “If so, hurt, it won’t.
I nodded confirming that his answer is indeed correct. "Exactly, I'll use an anesthetic to numb the areas so that when I do an incision, it won't hurt at all sweetie.." I reassured her. "Now, if you like I could do Ryu first so you could see how it is?"

Roughly, I woke up to lots of chattering hybrids. Signing irritatedly, I shifted my body sideways towards the tree trunk letting my back face the hybrids even though it wouldn't help much with blocking the noise. That little search hike me and Elizabeth did yesterday killed me, I feel so exhausted and these hybrids are chatting away when I am trying to sleep here! "Do these hybrids know what time it is? It's freaking early in the morning and some of us, particularly me, are still trying to sleep!" I grumbled.

“Hm? Oh yeah,” I said, twisting myself as much as possible to try and take off the bandage.

I gingerly unraveled the bandage until it was all on the ground. Doing my best not to move my wing, I glanced it over, finding it looking pretty normal from my angle, while asking, “How does it look to you?”

Shifting my body towards him a little, I examined his wing for anything looking out of the ordinary. "Hmm, it looks fine to me.." I replied though feeling rather unsure about it, I reached over and gently felt his wing; my hand glided up and down the bones of his wing and from what I felt everything seemed to be in its place. "Your bones feel like their in place, try opening your wing." I said withdrawing my hand.

As she ate, she listened as the other hybrids continued to talk about the festival, discussing who could go and who should not. Xenophon repeatedly asked about the festival, but the others paid him no attention. They most likely didn't realize that he was speaking, since it was hard to understand his stuttered speech. Scytha glanced at Baske when she agreed to go along with Faolans rules. Oddly enough, Baske had two fingers crossed behind her back as she agreed. Scytha wasn't exactly sure that it meant anything, but had a feeling that it did.

He followed my instruction, gradually spreading his wing out. I noticed that his movements were slightly stiff and awkward which is normal since he hasn't been using that wing for a sometime. “Hm...I guess it’s healed,” He muttered. “It just feels awkward stretching it out after having it pretty much closed for ages.”

I could actually sympathize with him. I remember when I was ten, I'd accidentally broke my wrist from falling off the monkey bars and I had to wear a cast for I don't know how long though when it came off, it was rather ha.rd to move. I had to do little moving exercises in order for my wrist to move more easier.
If that worked for me perhaps it would work for Hawk, I thought twitching an ear.
"If you keep opening your wing every now and then your movements will be less rough and more smooth," I suggested to him. "I broke my wrist in the past and doing little moving exercises helped a lot."

"Ooh, yeah that sounds like a good idea, you go first Ryu," Baske said, backing away. I looked over at Ryu and he nodded, “Ok. Ready I am.”
I briefly looked around for a place for Ryu to sit and soon found an log nearby. I walked over to it and placed my bag on the ground next to it, "Alrighty, sit on this log and I'll prepare the instruments." I said, gesturing for him to sit before I kneeled down and proceeded to prepare the necessary tools for the local surgery. After about ten minutes, I had everything laided out and ready including myself; sporting surgical gloves and mask. I took hold of an alcohol soaked cotton ball and swapped it across Ryu's lower left shoulder blade then I grabbed the anesthetic syringe that I'd prepared, "Ok, Ryu, your going to feel a slight pinch." I informed him before injecting the needle end of the syringe into his scales, pushing the plunger down until all the fluid of the anesthetic has been released. Afterwards, I waited until the anesthetic took affect which approximately took three to five minutes.
Alright, operation cut and remove is a go.
Taking hold of the small sharp surgical knife, I began to make my first incision into his lower left shoulder blade.

~~Timeskip to surgical finish~~
((I wasn't in the mood to describe the whole cutting and removing, it was going to be too much writing though let me know if you want a brief description of how it went))

After a little bit, Ryu's incision was stitched back together and the tracker that was once in his lower left shoulder blade laided on the ground cleaned off by alcohol. "Ok, Ryu, I'm done stitching your incision. The numbness will wear off in a little bit but other than that, your free to go," I announced the good news before looking over at Baske. "It's your turn sweetie, you ready?"

((I must applaud Elizabeth for remaining calm and performing the surgery excellently btw ^^))

“Ok, Ryu, I'm done stitching your incision. The numbness will wear off in a little bit but other than that, your free to go,” I announced the good news before looking over at Baske. “It's your turn sweetie, you ready?”

“Great,” I said, standing up to allow Baske a seat on the log.

The other hybrid had her frill tilted back, seeming to be freaked out by the whole procedure. “Uh... yeah let's get this over with so I can go do something more interesting!”

“Not too bad, it isn’t,” I gave my opinion. “Over with in a blink, it will be. Fret, you need not.”

Serephina
“The white hybrid,” she hissed, a hint of contempt in her voice, “does not know how to cover her tracks very well, but seemed to have an idea where you were headed.”
White hybrid… I thought. Off the top of my head, none of the group members came to mind. Then I remembered seeing an albino-like hybrid this morning who I didn’t recall seeing before. Perhaps that’s the hybrid she’s talking about. That means she just caught up today.

That was a relief. I was afraid that I was being stalked since the day after our last encounter.

“Oh. Then I guess there are other hunters following too, right,” I threw out a prediction flatly. “How fun, just when I started to relax…I was thinking of-”

I stopped myself before my thoughts about the festival could slip out. Flicking an ear, I inquired seriously, “Wait so are there any other hunters with you? Please tell the truth.”

“Oh. Then I guess there are other hunters following too, right,” she said in a tone that demonstrated just how thrilled she was.  "How fun, just when I started to relax…I was thinking of-”

What was she going to say?
Sisters, sisters. (There were never such devoted sisters.)
Why do we do this?
Serephina continued.  "Wait so are there any other hunters with you? Please tell the truth."
"Any other hunters..." Sperehope mumbled, pondering.  She remembered being dispatched in a van crowded with other hunters.  But that had been before the fight and the fire.  She did not know if they had returned to the base after the fire.  Sperehope hadn't encountered anyone, but she shuddered to think someone else could have been watching her.  "No, there aren't any."
The hairs on her back prickled though.  What if someone saw their conversation? What would they think of her?

“Ah, great,” I said, brightening up. “There’s apparently a festival tonight where humans dress as animals. Why don’t we go to make up for all the er fights we had.”

Ok, now that I’ve said it, I find it darn awkward. And if someone notices that she’s a hunter, she’ll be exposed, I thought. Mm, but we’d just have to go where the others aren’t. Anyways, shouldn’t I be glad if she gets either chased out or captured and made hostage by the other escapees? That’ll eliminate the only hunter threat on us and we’ll be good to go. Win-win! Well...not exactly for Sperehope, but still, I want to try and amend a little.

“Sounds like a plan,” Hawk nodded, liking the idea. “I’ll start now then.” He slowly closed and opened his wing twice before folding it close and signing, “This can actually become quite a workout. By the way, how’d you break your wrist?”

I chuckled slightly discomfited as I scratched the back of my head. "Well, I was playing on the monkey bars at a playground that my grandmother took me too and let's just say that I was having a little too much fun. On one of the bars, I swung with too much momentum and slipped, it happened so fast that I wasn't able to grab the other bar. And somehow in mid-fall, I unintentionally rotated myself and came face-to-face with the ground and upon instinct I held out my hands in front of me and landed ha.rd," I said then held up my left hand, "my left hand was the first to touch the ground therefore it took the brunt of the fall and my wrist snapped, afterwards I cried liked a baby under the pain. Honestly it was embarrassing."

((This actually happened to me though the difference is that I landed on my back and it was during recess at school))

~~Elizabeth Trail~~

((@Jade - No problem. Good thing I wasn't in the mood to write it ^^ @Feather - Elizabeth has to stay calm in such a situation, she can't be shaking or focusing on something else. Besides 15 years of experience (and watching TLC shows like Botched & Skin Tight which has to do with surgery) helps a lot))

“Great,” Ryu stood up to allow Baske a seat on the log. Though poor Baske, she stared at me in disbelief with her frill tilted back before snapping out of it. “Uh... yeah let's get this over with so I can go do something more interesting!”
Inwardly, I laughed, What's wrong with this? I find doing & watching surgery to be very interesting.
((This is so true on my part))
“Not too bad, it isn’t,” Ryu spoke up giving his opinion. “Over with in a blink, it will be. Fret, you need not.”
Grabbing another alcohol soaked cotton ball, I gestured for Baske to take a sit on the log. And once she sat, I swapped it across her right lower back before grabbing the second anesthetic syringe that I'd previously prepared, "Here comes the slight pinch," I informed her before injecting the needle end of the syringe into her scales, pushing the plunger down until all the fluid of the anesthetic has been released. As I waited for the anesthetic to take affect, I washed off the little amounts of Ryu's blood on the small sharp surgical knife with alcohol so that I wouldn't risk infecting Baske. And soon enough, I began to make my first incision into her right lower back.

~~Timeskip to surgical finish~~

After a little bit, Baske's incision was stitched back together and the tracker that was once in her right lower back laided on the ground cleaned off by alcohol alongside the other tracker. Taking a breathe, I removed my surgical gloves and mask and placed them into an biohazard pouch followed by the two anesthetic syringes I used. "Alrighty, we're done Baske. Your free to go do something more interesting all I ask is for you to be safe and have fun."

“Ah, great,” Serephina said, cheerful that there weren’t any other hunters.

“There’s apparently a festival tonight where humans dress as animals. Why don’t we go to make up for all the er fights we had.”

Sperehope was taken aback.

A festival? With humans who dress as animals.  Why would humans dress as animals?

Sperehope paused as she picked up on an awkward vibe. What would the festival be like? Would that make them closer as... as friends?

Her face flickered briefly while she thought.

“Al-alright,” she couldn’t very well refuse when her sister mentioned making up for all their fights. “No one will mind?” She asked, slightly confused.

((Never got hurt on the monkey bars before so I can only imagine the pain. (I actually never broke a bone before) I got tons of blisters thou >_< My friends and I climbed all over the place XD I remember getting a ton of time outs for breaking (nearly all the) playground rules lol.))
Tigerlily chuckled slightly discomfited before giving a recount of how she broke her wrist.

I laughed after hearing the whole thing. “Accidents, accidents. We all had our fair share of them.”

That reminded me of once trying to catch a porcupine hybrid. I had hidden myself in a tree and waited for him to pass. Then I jumped and tried to land smack right on him and knock him out. Instead I got a body full of quills stuck on me. The porcupine got away. Keith called it hugging a cactus. And I never went after porcupines again. I didn’t bring it up, since it was of the Dome. And that was a past I wanted to leave behind.

Ryu

Elizabeth then performed the surgery on Baske. I watched in wonder at the operation and then turned my attention to the trackers. How could mere cylindrical objects give their location away? I picked it up and scrutinized it, rotating the tracker to memorize its appearance.

I looked up as the doctor said, “Alrighty, we're done Baske. Your free to go do something more interesting all I ask is for you to be safe and have fun.”

“Not too bad, like I said, was it not?” I asked the other hybrid.

“I don’t know, to be honest,” I answered. “But as long as we stay away from them we should be fine, right? Of course we can always say you’re a townsperson.”

Why do I still feel like this might be a mistake to make, I thought.

((my bad,  I remeber seeing it but I must have been a little to busy to post for it))

Aki mentioned a festival of our own when this was all done and it made me think. When we are all safe.. when will that be?. "That sounds like a wonderful idea, a time for all of us hybrids to be just that without any fear of hunters, scientists, or the government and in a permenant place we can all call home" I said, enjoying the thought and premise of safety that it brought.

Durning our escape I had been thinking about the future and with Aki's hybrid festival I now began to mentall build a place for hybrids that would have everything for every type of hybrid, it was beautiful and I hoped I could see the thing in real life in my life time.

Elizabeth told her to sit on a log, so she sat. Ryu told her not to worry. "Here comes the slight pinch," Elizabeth warned. Baske flinched slightly, but the pain soon disappeared and she was only aware of slight pressure on her back as Elizabeth removed the tracker. A few minutes later Elizabeth was done. "Alrighty, we're done Baske. You're free to go do something more interesting, all I ask is for you to be safe and have fun," Elizabeth said. Baske stood up, feeling her back. It was all numb. She twisted around to try and look at it, but couldn't really see anything. "Not to bad, like I said, was it not?" Ryu asked, examining the trackers. Baske nodded. "Is my back going to hurt when the anne-stead-ick wears off?" she asked, having trouble pronouncing the word.

“Mhm,” I hummed in agreement. A place to call home and return to. Home with everyone and no need to fear anything.

A dream to build into reality.

"I don’t know, to be honest,” Serephina responded. “But as long as we stay away from them we should be fine, right? Of course we can always say you’re a townsperson.”

OK, she thought, a little uneasy.  What would happen if I'm seen?  No.  If I am confronted I will confront them in return.  Focus on the festival.  Then, in the back of her mind, a little thought crept in. What if she means for me to be seen...
But the answer was simple.  It doesn't matter, then. It will be the same.
"Ok then," she spoke aloud.  "I shall be around here..." her voice fading out as she was unsure.

Sperehope contemplated. I guessed she was uncertain whether to jump in on the idea.

“Ok then,” she finally said.  “I shall be around here…”

I nodded, “Alright, I’ll come meet you when it’s time.”

Glancing back, I added, saying farewell, “Guess I should go now. See you tonight.”

With that, I turned and left back to the escapee group.

Soraka

Perhaps hours have passed that I spent keeping myself locked in my room. I laid on my side on my bed. Sleep had fled far. Only the ringing of my ears accompanied me in the lonely silence of the room. The lights made the white walls blinding to look at. I had to avert my eyes whenever they trailed off to them. Is it day? Night? I couldn’t tell. I didn’t want to go outside either. The scientists haven’t bothered me either. If anything was a slight bother, it’d be my stomach’s occasional growling. Perhaps I should eat.

But I didn’t want to see others. No one. Not James either even though he seemed pretty nice.

I closed my eyes and relapsed into thought.

I need to get back into that room again but I don’t quite remember the way…

I need to see those papers again. There are clues to where Aki is. I need to-

I slapped my forehead. I need to stop thinking about this. I need to prioritize escape from this darn place yet I feel so sick even considering moving. Perhaps it’s a side effect of that mind control?

I shifted to my back, How come they allowed me to keep memory of their mind control? I can just spread rumor of it and then the hybrids may start a riot or something. But then again, what good will that do...they’ll put it down with mind control and then wipe their memories.

This is so against human rights, so unfair, I sighed inwardly. What can I do…

My stomach growled yet again. Perhaps I should actually eat.

I sat up and ran my hand through my shortened hair. I still wasn’t used to it although it had been a while since I cut it. I froze the air before me into a round piece of ice which dropped into my hands. I peered at its reflective surface and examined my appearance.

I still get bed hair huh, I thought. Also, now that I noticed, this air has enough moisture for me to freeze. I should test it out in the hallways too. It’ll save energy over producing my own ice.

I extended the ice into a full length mirror and stood up to look at myself as a whole. I now noticed that my skin was very pale. Was it always like that? I shook my head. It probably was from being indoors all the time recently. There’s nothing to do about that.

I then noticed a thin red fabric hanging out of a pocket. Ah, I remember you. I thought as I picked it up and examined its whole length. James has the other one.

Just then, I had a nasty flashback to the moments I remembered prior to receiving these ribbons. I gritted my teeth and tightened my grasp on the ribbon. It made me want to get rid of it. Throw it at the ground and crush the red fabric. Yet if anything, it’d be what’ll keep me sane. After all, one specific ribbon was very important to me. It was a reminder of who I was and more importantly, of my dear sister. This one would have to do as a substitute. Looking at the ice mirror as reference, I lifted the ribbon and began to wind it through my hair. My hands worked like clockwork as I weaved the ribbon to form a bow on the side of my head, near my left ear. I didn’t need the mirror to do it. When I finished, I examined my new appearance and sighed. I always knew it. Red definitely stands out too much on me.

Hawk laughed after hearing the whole thing which wasn't surprising. “Accidents, accidents. We all had our fair share of them.” A mischievous smirk came to my face, ears angling back emphasizing the slight mischievous behavior forming. "All right, tell me your fair share of accidents.. I'll love to hear them. Of course, you don't have to tell me.. I understand if you don't want me to laugh at your misfortunes like you did."

((Hehe >:) I think she's daring Hawk))

~~Elizabeth Trail~~

Baske stood up and felt her back before twisting around to try and look at it, I thought she was going to trip over herself again though thankfully didn't. "Not to bad, like I said, was it not?" Ryu inquired inspecting one of the cylindrical trackers.
The frilled hybrid nodded in reply then asked, "Is my back going to hurt when the anne-stead-ick wears off?"
"Well, everyone is different. Some people feel pain afterwards and others don't though if you do feel pain afterwards then just let me know so that I could give you pain medication, " I said then remembered my lack of certain supplies, "hopefully I have some left."

Baske|Mystery

~Baske~

Baske nodded at what Elizabeth said. Walking over to Ryu she studied the trackers as well. They were, small, black cylindrical things with little spikes. "Heeeey... are these thingys still, like, turned on? And tracking us? What should we do with them?" Baske asked.

~Mystery~

Mystery was once again wandering through the annoyingly white halls of S.C.O.R.H HQ. Last night she had fallen asleep under a bench near the outside target range. She'd rather sleep under the stars than inside the HQ (it's not like she would of gotten much sleep inside the facility anyway, just like in the Dome, those scientists never seemed to go to sleep). She had already had breakfast and now she was just bored, amusing herself by following people around until they got creeped out and ordered her to go away. She was in her forth lap through the facility when a pair of scientists approached her. "Are you hybrid 282? From the failed Dome facility?" one of them asked, looked down at the clipboard he was carrying. Mystery retrieved her ID card from her quiver and held it up for them to read.

----------------

Hybrid #282

Unnamed

Female.

25% Felis Catus 25% Firebreathing dragon.

Level 5 clearance.

-----------------

The guy with the clipboard nodded. "You're going to have to come with us now for testing," he said.

'Ugh, great, they do testing here too, I should of known,' Mystery thought.

Mystery nodded and followed them. They led her to a room with the words Medical room #11 on the door. Inside was an examination table, and a doctor. The doctor told her to leave her bow and quiver by the door and to sit up on the table. The doctor then proceeded to go through a number of health checks. Checking her hearing, eyesight, heartbeat, reflexes, and a number of other things. In Mystery's opinion it was all a totally unnecessary waste of time seeing as this had already been done to her at the Dome and the HQ probably had all her information already. But then again the scientists would of course want to make sure she was healthy... so they could make sure she was in top condition to do their dirty work for them. After a long while the doctor proclaimed her in perfectly good health (She could of told them that- oh wait, no she couldn't) and the scientists led her to another room labeled Testing room #42.

She walked into the room. There was a large window with a control panel full of buttons and switches in front of it. The window looked down into a large indoors training course. Once again leaving her bow and quiver by the door, the scientists directed her to go through a side door which led down a short staircase to another door which opened into the testing course.

Standing at the beginning of the obstacle course, Mystery looked up at the wall above and to the right of her, but instead of a window she saw a long mirror - one way glass. The scientists were probably sitting at the control panel, eagerly waiting for the real testing to begin.

((^this is just filler. It's what Mystery was doing during the festival day))

Baske nodded & went over to Ryu to study the tracker along with him. So, I took that time to clean and return the few remaining items that were left out from the two surgeries back into my medical bag. And by the time that I was done, Baske asked, "Heeeey... are these thingys still, like, turned on? And tracking us? What should we do with them?"
Grabbing the handles of my medical bag, I snatched up the other tracker from the ground and stood up. "Well, that's the thing. According to Salastar, instead of destroying them.. I'm going to have to reattach these trackers onto an animal so that it'll lead the hunters off our trail. And since that's the case, I'm going to need to do just that as soon as possible," I said, placing the tracker into my front pocket, "Could I have the other tracker please?"

The rest of the day was spent getting those who were going, ready and even dressed up a little. I mainly took to talking with the other hybrids that were with us, they were more than happy to stay here under Rita's leadership and away from any humans. I set up the night shift watchers and rotated the two guards that would guard Harry, he will be staying put ((let me know if you have other plans Infinity)).

While we waited I went and grabbed my cloak from its box at the forest edge, in the light I could tell it was no long the black I remebered but instead a dark grey.

The afternoon came to us at what felt like a slow and grueling pace but finally the sun fell behind the trees and the sky turned a vibrant purple with wispy orange sparks that were high up clouds. I stood a little ways from our camp and near the rough route I had taken to the forest's edge and back, it was the meeting place for all the hybrids who would be going to the festival. I was both excited and dissapointed that I would not be able to walk the streets but I would still be able to watch from the second story balcony that the store had, not many looked up there and with my mostly black appearance I would be nearly impossible to see. As I waited for the others I thought about the festival.

The rest of the day passed quickly and it soon was evening. I looked at my reflection in the river running through the temporary escapee camp. The running water contorted my appearance slightly with curves and folds of the water’s tiny waves. Even though, it was good enough for me to examine my new look. I decided to remove my ribbons from where I kept them pinned on my skirt and tie them into my hair.

The gold served as a hairband and the silver, a pretty bow on the right side of my head, beneath my ear. I stood back up and recalled the meeting point’s location that Faolan said. I looked around, and figured which way was towards the edge of the forest. I then headed that way, humming a little tune as I did for I looked forward to enjoying human activities again. Upon reaching the meeting point, I greeted the dragon with a smile, “Hi Faolan.”

Hawk

The day was passed preparing for the festival. I personally imagined all the activities to take part of. Learning that the festival may require money, I decided to ask Tigerlily about having money. “Say, Ty, do festivals require any fees?”

((Didn’t specify the time of the question. Up to you to decide when that was))

Ryu

Evening fell and it was time to go. I had just finished washing my face. Shaking off droplets of water, I sensed for Baske’s presence. Finding her not too far, I turned in her direction and went over, “Ready, are you?” I asked.

Serephina
Over the day, I realized only a selected few were chosen to go to the city. I found myself too embarrassed to ask to join them.

Whatever, we’re better off if I didn’t join them, I had thought to myself to persuade myself not to talk. When the time came, I slipped out of camp and went over to where I had ran into Sperehope this morning. There, I looked around for signs of my sister.

~Rita Ritz~

Sea Fern said she was going and Faolan stated that Hawk would be coming. 'Hawk I'm fine with, but Sea Fern? She never listens to anyone!' Rita thought. Sighing, she wandered away from the other hybrids. Rita walked over to her uncle and informed him of the plan for getting supplies from the city. She then spent the rest of the day picking edible plants, keeping an eye on Harry, taking quick naps (she had a feeling she was going to be staying up late) and just randomly wandering around talking to random hybrids. During this time she passed Sea Fern, who look strangely sad for someone about to go to a festival.

"What wrong?" Rita asked her. "Nothing... I just wish I could take Seagill with me," Sea Fern answered. "Your seahorse?" Rita asked. "Yeah, he can't walk on land like me, so he's stuck in the nasty garbage filled water around the city!" Sea Fern replied angrily then walked away.

As evening came, filling the sky with purple and orange streaked clouds, Rita walked over to her uncle and pulled him into the trees where they couldn't be seen. "So here's what I need you to do..." Rita started. After she finished telling him, Rita walked over to a tree, leaning against it with her arms crossed, she watched as all the people going to the festival began to move to the meeting point Faolan had set.

~Mr. Ritz~

After speaking with his niece, he walked over to the meeting point. He saw that Faolan and Aki were already there. "Good evening. So what sort of supplies are we going to get? Medical obviously, but what else? Food? Clothes?" he asked as he walked up to them. He looked down at himself, with his grass stained pants and dirt covered shirt and lab coat full of holes. 'I could use some new clothes - I think everyone could, we've all been wearing the same thing for almost a month,' he thought.

Aki was the first to arrive and she had redone her ribbons, "you look splendid" I complimented her not long before Mr. Ritz came up to us. "Good evening, yeah food that we normally can not get, cloths as well" I said, looking looking at my nearly destroyed shorts could use a new pair, "you and Elizabeth could also get supplies that might make this treck easier for yourselves, I think you humans call it camping gear" I told Mr Ritz, knowing humans were not as adapted to living out in the woods day in and day out as all of us hybrids were.

The rest of the day was spent hiding behind bushes overlooking a small clearing to wait for any passing animals to shoot with the tranquilizer gun; by the time I finally attached the trackers to an animal, it was already evening. The sun fell behind the trees and the sky turned a vibrant purple with wispy orange that streaked the clouds above. I hiked back to camp in the nick of time for the ones that are going to the festival are getting ready to leave. Glancing around the camp, I found my daughter fixing her hair near the stream and so I walked over to her...

For most of us, the rest of the day passed preparing for the festival and soon evening came upon us. I had finished dusting myself off of any debris that was attached to my clothing even though it wasn't going do much to enhance the quality of them; I needed to look somewhat presentable. I briefly looked at myself in the stream running through our camp. Its waters was clear enough so that I could view my appearance, the ripples slightly contorted my image nevertheless I was able to see that my dusting actually slightly improved the appearance of my clothing for they were less dirty looking.
Not bad at all, I thought satisfied. Let's see what I could do with this hair of mine.
Bring my brown hair forward, I began to run my fingers through it. I smoothed out a few tangles here and there until my fingers ran through effortlessly before I proceeded to try & create a decent hairstyle. As I did, another figure appeared in the streams reflection, I glanced over my shoulder to find my mother.
"Hi Momma," I greeted, "where have you been? You disappeared during the morning hours."
She signed and set her medical bag down, "I had to take care of something important and let's say that it took longer than expected."
I nodded, "Well, you returned just in time. We're getting ready to leave in a few, why don't you fix yourself up a little."

With that said, she joined me and started fixing herself up. A few minutes later, I got that decent hairstyle look.
"Perfect," I said practically to myself before turning to my mother. "Hey Mom, what do you think?" She glances over and smiles, "Looks good.. but it's missing something."
Missing something?
She left my side and disappeared momentarily into the woodlands. When she came back, she had a beautiful pink flower in her hand; she held it up over my head and placed it right next to my left ear before she stepped back. "Flawless, absolutely flawless." She commented, looking very pleased. Before I could thank her, I heard the voice of Hawk ask, “Say, Ty, do festivals require any fees?” Turning to him, I replied, "Yeah they do but don't worry about it, my mother can give us some money." My mother nodded acknowledging that she would.

The rest of the noisy day passed with some hybrids getting ready for some trip to town. All I did during that time was snooze here and there until the evening. Sooner or later, I found out my ex-wife & daughter are also going into town with the others; I reached into my back pocket and took out my wallet. Well, if I can't go to town with them then I might as well give them some cash, I thought unenthusiastic before taking out some money and returning my wallet back into my back pocket.
