HTTYD/SoD Clan Roleplay: The Rise of Earthguard
((I’ll get a quick post in before I disappear until monday lmao. Guess who’s turning 19 this sunday? (Hint: ITS ME) I’m having a birthday weekend, so I probably won’t be able to get online. Hopefully I won’t miss too much.
Also, @Mariella, good to know the limit is shifted lmao. I should probably read over the edited rules before I assume things, my bad. :’)
@Brasa and Mariella, don’t worry about the Valkor mix up, I accidentally wrote him in too when I was writing ‘As luck would have it’ as a draft and had to edit it out before posting lmao. ))
Herze simply observed the conversation between the other vikings for a while, content with nibbling on bread and trying to get Horrendous to stay close to her. She paid more attention to Nihtclaw, since Herze hadn’t seen her before. She was dressed completely in white and wore a mask along with it. Herze liked the look a lot, so she took some notes. She realized she was staring and quickly averted her gaze, looking back at Horrendous who’d hopped onto the table again.
He was playing with a baby Nadder and Herze lifted an eyebrow in confusion. She hadn’t seen the dragon before. She hears Mariella call out to Eslig and follows her gaze to where the other viking was standing back a bit. He seemed a little shocked to be called out to and Herze smiled at him. “Hey, Eslig! How are you?” She called out as well, waving him over.
Over two hundred posts already! two hundred first post!
(@ Mariella Thanks for the gender thing! That helps. :)
"Rosemary didn't hurt me much. It's ok, Mar." Nihtclaw said to her while she was trying to manage Rosemary and getting bandages for the bites. It isn't even very deep, just light cuts. Nihtclaw guessed her skin had gotten tougher, living in that rough life in the cave and doing tons of dirty work. Mariella bandaged me up anyways.
"Wow, he's amazing!" Mariella said with awe when she noticed Grub gurgling on my shoulder. "You're so lucky to have a Titan-wing staged dragon. Most dragons don't make it to that stage." "Thanks. He's not very obedient though, and can make a huge mess of things." Nihtclaw said to her. "But um, Anyways..." Mariella began nervously, "I'm glad you stumbled onto that poster! After the Battle, the School needs all the help it can get and I think that together, as part of Earthguard, we can all make a difference. It would be great to have you join us." she explained. "So far there's just seven of us in the clan; You've met Rue and Lady Brasa the healer, and here's Herze with her newly hatched Screaming Death, Horrendous--""
Out of the blue, Mariella was interupted by an odd little baby Nadder running towards her and the Screaming Death hatchling. Nihtclaw noticed that a dirty blond haired girl kinda staring at her, but quickly looked away when Nihtclaw noticed. The little Nadder and Screamer were beginning to dance on the table. Mar smiled at the babies, then saw another person among the crowd. "Oh, and here comes Eslig! He's the newest member, next to you," Mariella introduced him to Nihtclaw."Hey Eslig!" she called out to him. "Want to come over and meet your newest comrade? Nihtclaw will be joining us!" Mariella called out over the loud music and chatter, hoping he would hear. Grub grunted and flew off to find a chicken bone and began to chew on it.
"Chopper looks like he is having fun." Nihtclaw said, glancing at the Rue's Death and Chopper. The two are now playing together. Whispering Death play can get frenzish depending on whatever they are playing. Nihtclaw noted in her mind to keep an eye on Chopper to make sure he dosen't get frenzish with Rue's Death.
(Soo sorry for the late relpy XL)
"Rose you almost ready?" She heard her Mother ask from down the stairs. Swinging on her jacket she decended the stairs and was greates cheerfully by Shadow and her parents. "Go on, have a good night sweetie, you deserve it. "Thanks mum, dad. Talk to you guise later." Running out of the door she waved her hand in the direction of her parents, "Won't know when i'll be back by the way!!!!"
Entering the enormous door of the school hall she was overwhelmed by the large quantity of people all there to celebrate their victory. Taking a deep breathe she looked at Shadow. "Ok girl, lets do this." And with that they entered the hall looking for their clan mates, their friends.
(sorry its short but I just wanted to get up to date)
To Eslig's great relief, Septimus did not become an appetizer for the large Whispering Death behind him. Instead, the Screaming Death hatchling began to play with the baby Nadder. Eslig marveled at the sight. He had heard stories about the Outcasts releasing Death eggs below Berk, and the numerous run-ins that Hiccup and his friends had had with the Whispers/Screaming Death. Now, instead of being enemies, some were even trained by students at the school! In addition to the two large Whispering Deaths and the Screaming Death baby, he thought he had caught a glimpse of Mariella enticing a Whispering Death hatchling into a bag, which wriggled on a chair next to her.
"Hey Eslig! How are you?" - That was Herze, beckoning him over. Mariella chimed in. "Here comes Eslig! He's the newest member, next to you". Eslig beamed in spite of himself and waved back; he was welcome in Earthguard! Mariella continued, "Want to come over and meet our newest comarade? Nihtclaw will be joining us!"
With Septimus and the Screaming Death hatchling teaming up to tackle a large chicken leg, Eslig looked closer at Nitclaw. The girl was young, yet her hands were calloused from hard work. One hand sported a small bandage but whatever wound it concealed didn't seem to bother Nitclaw too much. "It's nice to meet you, Nihtclaw" Eslig said. As he spoke, a Smoldering Smokebreath landed on the girl's shoulder. It looked a bit older than the Smokebreaths that Eslig had seen, and it had strange markings on it. Did Nihtclaw train a Titan? Eslig continued, "As Mariella said, my name is Eslig. I just joined Earthguard, but I can tell you already that it is a clan to be proud of!" Ambolt thrust his face in between Eslig and Nihtclaw. "Where are my manners?" Eslig laughed, and scratched his dragon's chin. "This is Ambolt, and the little guy you see over there"--he pointed to the baby Nadder--"is Septimus".
Rue walked up with a heaping plate of food and Eslig's stomach rumbled. "Would you mind if I got some food?" he asked Nihtclaw. "Sure" the girl replied, and Eslig excused himself from the conversation to explore the spread that the Great Hall provided. On the way Eslig greeted the members of Earthguard quickly, introducing Septimus and meeting their new dragons. Ambolt's head perked up as he spotted Rose and Shadow entering the Hall, and he clomped off to greet them. Food, friends, and festives thought Eslig, content. Speaking of food, the feast was beckining him. He grabbed a plate and began loading it up.
((Maybe speed it up just a few weeks or months so Ambolt and Eslig can get out of their bandages :D I just realized earlier that only 4-5 days have passed since their flying accident, I think!!))
I'll support your decision whatever you choose. This RP is a lot of fun for me!
((I can see how a short time-hop ahead here and there might help us catch up, and I think we'll be OK to include the events of the new series of RTTE as from what I can tell they are just a few months ahead of where we are now, but I don't think we can leap straight to the timeline of the expansion. I haven't played much of it yet, but without giving too much away it seems to be set after the events of HTTYD2, which I think is too far in the future to jump to from where we are.))
I don't think we should jump ahead too far. I like having characters develop slowly, and here's a list why we shouldn't jump ahead to the expansion:
1) There are other expansions that clearly happen before the return to dragon island expansion. We could walk through those first then make our way to the return of dragon island one.
2) I don't like spoilers, and I won't be able to unlock that expansion any time soon. I have a lack of gems and purchasing more gems or membership requires a lot of money...
3) We should get our characters to know eachother more. A few of us are new to the clan(in the RP anyways) and it would be good for us to have our characters maybe interact more together before setting off into the expansion packs.
My computer is running low on battery at 3%. I guess i have to go charge it now. Bye!
((In general I would not mind if we jumped a few months ahead, but I'm really looking forward to our trip to Healer's island and to read more about Tallyras adventure with the dragon runes. So I would not mind either if we didn't jump at all. But maybe we could jump after that two adventures? Or maybe we can work these in, so we don't miss out on them because of the time-jump? Mariella, I guess you had some backstory on your mind why the Berserker and Outcast ships attacked the school together. Can you still fit that into the story if we jumped ahead?
I agree that it would be okay to jump a few months, so we'd be catching up with the timeline of the series' 5th season. I finished watching the new episodes yesterday and, without wanting to give any spoilers here, I don't think that the new events would affect our charakters at the school and in Berk that much anyway. But I wouldn't like to jump to the time after HTTYD 2 and the new expansion either, there is just too much that had changed and as Nihtclaw said already, our charakters are slowly developing and finding their way into the clan, so it would be too early to do such a big time-jump.))
((Ack, spoilers!!!! I actually thought you had it worked out XD I always assumed that being attacked by the Outcasts was a case of game logic. But seriously, the dragon hunter theory seems most likely. I actually had an idea for an explanation but it revolves around my own imaginings about what the Outcasts did after we became allies with them, and I'm not sure everyone else needs to be dragged into my complicated headcanon XD))
((I had imagined this whole secnario where the Outcasts had "gone straight". From the TV series it looked like Outcast Island was kind of barren and nothing much grew there, but in my head it's well-positioned as a stopoff for traders, and so they founded a market town, which they called Second Chance. It's grown quickly and Alvin is doing very well out of it: he's even got himself a wife - who is huge and even scarier than him - and a couple of very troublesome, very small children, whom he adores.
I also imagined he would soften up towards dragons after the Whispering Death decided to trust him, and eventually, to the confusion and mild horror of the other Outcasts, he learned to trust her too and she became his dragon. In my head he now rides her around as Mayor of Second Chance, a big tough scary man on his big tough scary dragon, keeping all the reprobate merchants and traders that turn up in order and making sure everything runs smoothly, and then he goes home and kisses his big tough wife and hugs his tearaway kids and baby-talks to his dragon as he brushes her six rows of teeth.
He's attacking us because Dagur and the Beserkers had surrounded the little trading town and were threatening to destroy it unless he sided with the Beserkers again. He's desperately trying to find a way to ask Berk for help, but in the meantime all he can do is send scout ships and pretend to aid Dagur while not doing too much damage.
It's all pure headcanon, totally made-up, some of it is possibly a bit out of character, and it doesn't fit at all well with any of RTTE. But it's been in my head since Alvin trained the Whispering Death, and it makes me happy. Maybe I should write a fanfic... XD))
YES. Yes you should write a fan fic!!
((Dragon hunters attacking the training grounds, disguised as Outcasts and Berserkers sounds pretty likely in my opinion, I'll use that :-) ))
Rue was quiet for some minutes while she was enjoying the fish and grilled chicken she finally had managed to get from the buffet ((thank you all for letting her get it :-) It might have become a nice running joke though if she had not gotten anything all evening ^^ But I like it better like that :-) )) and listened to the other's conversations. For the first time since the battle, her thoughts carried her away to some urgent questions. What had it all been about? Why did Berserkers and Outcasts attack together, both former enemies but now true allies with which they had had peace for quite some time... Rue frowned. It just didn't make any sense... She looked up at the put up posters on the walls, names written on them and reminding of the vikings that had fallen during the battle. Suddenly, she felt a lump in her throat and teared up. All day she had concentrated on herself and on how to cope with the past events... The frisky atmosphere of the big feast felt so good, it really had helped her. As well as meeting her clanmates again, seeing them safe and sound and talking about their new baby dragons. She felt better now than this morning. Stronger and more confident. So this was the moment the consequences of the battle sank in. And some heavy questions rose in her head.
This attack has been so cruel... Without warning attacking the school where lots of children and young dragons are running around... And showing no mercy, I mean, they could have attacked the defense posts and catapults and then leave again but they have tried to set all buidlings in flames, Bulls eye lagoon, Thunder run racing and Flight club... Not even when they were our enemies, the Outcasts would have done such a thing. And the Berserkers... no, I just can't imagine them doing something like that either. What if it wasn't them at all? What if it was just a disguise? An attempt to destroy the trust between Berk and its allies? Maybe it had something to do with the dragon hunters and their shifty leader Vigo?
Rue had always loved that moments when she came to know that former enemies had switched sides and became allies of Berk. She could still remeber how happy she had felt when she heared how Alvin had helped Hiccup and his friends against the Berserkers. She believed that there was something good in almost every person and that there mostly was an alternative solution than war. But the dragon hunters, from what she had heared of, where a different kind of people. Lead by two cruel brothers who were not interested in compromises or peace. Being part of a clan now, she surely would encounter those dragon hunters in the future. Lost in thought she looked at her new bow and arrows and at Gothic who had fallen asleep next to his new found friend Chopper. Maybe the others would like to come with her and Brasa to Healer's island tomorrow? Maybe they could have their first clan training session there? Or just have fun, exploring the island and searching for healing herbs.
She looked up. When the different conversations around her had stopped for a moment she rose her voice and said "Brasa and I were planning on going to Healer's island tomorrow to get some special herbs. Do any of you maybe want to come with us?"
((For the roleplay, I'm fine with being at RTTE time, not RTDI time! Sounds like a plan!
But, I mustn't be remembering Defenders well at all - I don't remember the part when Berk and Outcasts became allies in the first place? Well maybe very vaguely ... and then I remember mention of Alvin dying? I only remember the instance of Outcast Island being decimated, and at one point Alvin did the hand-bond trick with a Whispering Death. What happened with that? I guess I'll have to find a synopsis somehwere!!))
((I think I'm right. I remembered Alvin promising that the Outcasts would be allies right at the end of Defenders if Hiccup helped him, and Dagur was in the Outcasts' prison at the beginning of the first series of RTTE, which suggests that at least they were not on his side any more. I don't think we've seen an Outcast since then though.))
Nihtclaw looked at the tables loaded with food, and chose a chicken leg and some mashed potatoes. She sat down on the smaller "Earthguard" table and squished in. Nihtclaw hadn't realized that almost EVERY viking had come in here to eat and do things. She looked at Gothic and Chopper, now sleeping lazily next to eachother. Mariella started introducing me to Rose, another viking. Nihtclaw just nodded her way to acknowledge her.
((Yay our RP is back up!))
Septimus' stomach finally overcame his urge to play with his new Screaming Death friend, Horrendous, and now he wandered over to where Eslig was sitting. The baby Nadder surveyed Eslig's plate before darting in and stealing a chicken leg almost as big as his own leg. Eslig patted the tiny Nadder on the head and began eating as well. The food was so delicious that he almost missed Rue, Brasa, and Mariella planning a trip to Healer's Island.
"That sounds like fun!" Eslig agreed. "I'm just not sure how we'd get Ambolt all the way to Healer's Island. Is there some other way he and I can contribute?" Eslig was still getting used to the fact that he owned an earthbound dragon for another few weeks, and he tried not to let his embarassment show. After all, it was his fault that both he and his dragon wore slings. He just wished that the clan didn't always have to compensate for him and his flightless dragon.
((Sorry for the short post. Feel free to be creative with your suggestion(s) for what Eslig/Ambolt end up doing))
((Too late to post much. Wasted too much time posting elsewhere :( ))
Brasa Halloed to the newcomers to the table and slid in close to make room on the bench. Elsig was concerned about his usefulness for the foray to Healer's Island.
"I know! We could take a ship! Phlegma and I are actually pretty close sense she's been my mentor for years. I'm sure she would happily lend us hers...especially since we're using it to get herbs for the school," Mariella offered.
Brasa finished chewing her caraway-seeded sauerkraut, and swallowed. "Might be a good idea," she chimed in. "The island is safe for dragons ... more or less. But we'll have to check on and harvest the dragon root and dragon nip, too. And the healers have stocked several of the streams with Bloodvein Eels, in the event of another Eel Pox outbreak. Also they help keep away some of the wild dragons," Brasa added. "We could pack up those herbs in the cargo hold."
"Oh, and there's a land spit on the far side with blue oleander. Its there to feed the local Scauldrons, but you know, our dragons best avoid it. There's purple oleander on the near side, but that's okay. We'll need some of that to keep on hand to reverse Gothi's dragon-sedating tincture."
Brasa stuffed some more cheese and a bite of Turkey leg in her mouth and washed it down with a gulp of mead. Sooo delicious!
Rue was pleased when she heared Mariella and Eslig wanting to come with them to Healer's island tomorrow. That would be a nice trip, she felt she was really looking forward to it. But right... Eslig and Ambolt were in no condition to fly... "I know! We could take a ship!" Mar suddenly burst out. "There is a ship that regularly shuttles between Berk and Healer's island. I've taken it the last few times when I went to this island. But with the past attack I'm not sure if our ships are going at the moment, it could be too dangerous..." But luckily Mariella had something else in mind. "Phlegma and I are actually pretty close since she's been my mentor for years. I'm sure she would happily lend us hers...especially since we're using it to get herbs for the school." Yey, good idea. Rubinesse smiled, this way everyone who wanted to go to Healer's island would be able to. She nodded and added "Gothic and I will be flying, we need the practice, but we won't stay far away from the ship in case there is any trouble with wild dragons or viking enemies," ...and in case I fall off Gothic and into the sea... she thought but decided to not say that out loud.
Rue attentively listened to what Brasa told them about dangerous spots at the island. She nodded in her direction. Last time Rue had been there she barely was able to escape a territorial and angry Typhoomerang that seemed to have declared the island his new home after some Bloodvein Eels had been freed in the streams. "You're right. Healer's island is an awesome place but we gotta watch out for the blue oleander fields, any wild Typhoomerangs and the dragon roots that grow near the coast. I will need to go to the southern seaside to get some Lavender there but it surely will be better if I let Gothic stay with someone else in the meantime, because it is too close to the spot where the dragon roots grow."
While they were still planning the trip and Mar told them about some small plants she had been grown, Rue looked up and saw Hiccup and Astrid entering the Great Hall.
After the Headmasters speech, Rue heared Mariella say "Phew, I'm glad they didn't declare war on the Outcast. The attack seemed fishy to me." A bit lost in thought, Rubinesse nodded when Mar continued to explain her point. That's what she had been thinking, too. But Rue was very glad that Hiccup and this friends would undertake the task of talking to the Outcasts. She wouldn't feel prepared enough for such a mission and it was good they all had time to heal now and would be able to start their training.
Nihtclaw scooted closer to the inner part of the table to let other vikings join in the table. It was quite squished, so Nihtclaw took a mental note to tell the Headmaster to maybe make a few more tables. Nihtclaw's mind wandered as they talked about going to Healer's Island Blue Olander, restocking, Phelegma,... then Nihtclaw looked at Rue. "Hey." Nihtclaw said shyly. "Gothic and Chopper seem to be having fun." Nihtclaw said, glancing at the two sleepy deaths. Grub garbled in protest and landed on Nihtclaw's shoulder. He seemed energetic. "And Grub too. You can pet him, but avoid his mouth." Nihtclaw added, scratched under Grub's chin.
Rubinesse smiled. "Hello, Grub." She reached out her hand to pet his back but, seeing him snap with his little sharp teeth, she reconsidered and picked up a small piece of fish that was left on her plate and cautiously held it in front of his mouth. "You want that?" He just growled and flapped his shimmering wings. But when she put the fish back on her plate he suddenly swung into the air and grabbed the piece off the table in front of her. While he returned to Nihtclaws shoulder and contently ate his "prey", Rue laughed "He has a mind on his own, hasn't he". Then she looked over at the two resting Whispering Deaths. "Yes... They really seem to like each other. It has been exciting and new to Gothic to meet so many dragons and to make new friends today, no wonder he is tired now....I just wonder..." pensively her eyes wandered over the two Whispers' coloration patterns. They didn't have the same main colour but some of the darker patterns on their backs looked very alike. "For how long has Chopper been with you? Or do you know his age?" Could it be that there was a second Whisper left in Berk, one from the once placed bunch of eggs placed under the village by the Outcasts? Gothic had been acting so weird when he had met Chopper...
Nihtclaw watched Grub act stubbornly to Rue and fly away with the fish she put right back on the plate. Silly Grub. Rue laughed, "He has a mind on his own, hasn't he". "He's quite stubborn despite being a titan." Nihtclaw giggled. Then Rue looked over at the two resting Whispering Deaths. "They really seem to like each other. It has been exciting and new to Gothic to meet so many dragons and to make new friends today, no wonder he is tired now....I just wonder..." she looked at the two deaths closely. "For how long has Chopper been with you? Or do you know his age?" "He's four years old, and I found him while wondering about Berk." Nihtclaw explained. "I saw a tunnel beside the Great Hall and HIccup telling other students at the school to investigate. I decided to investigate myself, and found an egg. I saw a group of the same eggs farther off, but they were packed together in a crate. I figured whoever tried grouping the eggs in that crate must've missed this one, so i brought it back home to make sure it was ok. That's how i got Chopper."
Rubinesse listened attentively while Nihtclaw told her how she had found Chopper's egg. "Wow... That means that Chopper was one of the eggs that were brought to Berk by the Outcasts!" Rue's eyes got bigger. It seemed like her assumption was right. "Gothic and Chopper might be brothers!" she yelled out excitedly. "I found Gothic in a cave on the other side of the island. But guessing his age, I assume that he was also one of these hidden eggs and somehow got separated from his brothers and sisters and grew up alone in his cave. ...uhhh, I can't believe it! I always thought all his siblings had left Berk for good." She first gave Nihtclaw a surprised and happy smile, then jumped up from her seat and kneeled down in front of the two sleeping Whispering death heads. "And I've been wondering why you two were behaving so weird when you met... Aww, you just met your brother for the first time" Chopper blinked drowsily and looked at her, clapping his teeth a little while Gothic didn't bother to move or open his eyes, he just hummed a bit. Rue felt like they were trying to say "Well, duh... Took you quite some time to figure that out" She would have wanted to hug Chopper and welcome him to the family but in case he had a similar temperament as Gothic, it would be better to let them both sleep for now. So she returned to the table and resumed the conversation with Nihtclaw. "I've never seen an other adult Whisper around Berk besides Gothic. So, do you live on the school grounds?"
((With the new expansion pack, the new RTTE episodes and everybody's life going on, and therefore the RP being rather slow and calm right now, I felt like this conversation about the two Whispering death brothers fit right in. But if you want to move on to the next day, I'm okay with it. Nihtclaw, what do you think? I think if the others want to move on, there will be plenty of time to find out more about our two brothers during the adventures, but if everyone else is too busy right now to RP, then we can continue chatting for a bit about Chopper and Gothic if you want :-) ))
Herze was contemplating going along to Healer’s Island, subconsciously petting Horrendous and gnawing on her lip. She didn’t think it was a good idea for her to go, seeing as Valkor seemed so tired today. He usually always goes with her to events like this, but today he just was too out of it.
The headmaster gives a speech about the attack and Herze listens attentively. The vikings in the room all seem to do a synchronized dance at his words, collectively shouting, cheering and murmuring. Horrendous has a mini-freak out at every other reaction and Herze smiles, because she knows that feeling. It’s really the little things about living with other people that remind you you didn’t grow up here with them. She turns back to Mariella who speaks up again about the trip.
"It has to be those Dragon Hunters we keep hearing about.” Herze never understands why these attacks happen, but she figured she’s not alone in that. No one's even certain who attacked Berk. Regardless, she nods along with Mariella’s theory. It’s insightful and possible, and it’s a lot better than nothing. Mariella talks about ways to help after the attack again, and Herze chews them over.
It’d definitely not be good for Valkor to go to a whole other island right now, so that’s out. She’s a handy builder, so she could help with repairing the buildings, Horrendous is a natural digger, he could just roll around in the earth a bit and they’d have potholes for the seeds.
“I’d love to come with you all, but Valkor’s a little out of it. We’ll stay back and help repairs around Berk, maybe plant some trees while we’re at it. Have fun on healer’s island, though.”
((@Rue I think our conversation should go on for a little bit more since the others seem to be giving their attention to the Headmaster if it's ok with you.))
Nihtclaw listened intently on Rue's talk. She looked at the Deaths. Chopper seemed to act a little friendlier than usual to Rue. I expected a warning whir from him, but he must've felt a bit lazy, being with his sibling, or he smelled Gothic's scent on her. Maybe both. "I've never seen an other adult Whisper around Berk besides Gothic. So, do you live on the school grounds?" Rue askes. "I do, but the location is well hidden. I don't really like attention." Nihtclaw explained. "Oh." Rue said. Nihtclaw noticed the similar patterns in the brothers' scales. They really must be closely related. A horn and a hush fell over the crowd. The Headmaster was now saying a speech about the raiders from the Lookout.
Eslig didn't pay much attention to the Headmaster's speech, instead using the time to consider his options. Traveling by ship to Healer's Island would be somewhat slower than riding a dragon, but at least they'd have Rue/Gothic as an escort. On the other hand, it sounded like Herze and Valkor were going to stay back at the school to help with the repair efforts there. Eslig wished that they were coming along, but he respected that Herze knew her dragon better than he did. If she said that Valkor wasn't 100%, Eslig would trust her word. Besides, Horrendous looked like a bit of a handful at times and Eslig wondered if having a new hatchling had influenced Herze's decision to stay near the school.
Speaking of baby dragons, Septimus had finished his chicken leg and was snoring softy on the table. After the Headmaster finished his speech, Eslig came to a decision. "Ambolt and I would be more than happy to take a ship to Healer's Island. Maybe we can watch over the baby dragons while you guys forage?" Eslig brushed away the nagging feeling that this offer would soon backfire, determined to be of some use to the others on this trip. Ambolt looked somewhat mortified to be volunteered for babysitting duty in front of Shadow, but the dark purple Nadder didn't seem to notice and he slowly relaxed. "We can stay near the ship and make sure the hatchlings don't get into any trouble", Eslig offered.
((It's been a busy couple of days here, sorry for my delay in posing recently))
((Edit: Fixed a grammar mistake))
"I do, but the location is well hidden. I don't really like attention.", Nihtclaw answered Rue's question. "Oh, okay" she smiled "No wonder we never ran into each other then. But I'm glad we met you and Chopper now ... and of course you, too, Grub" Rubinesse added when the Smokebreath looked at her. "I always hoped so much for Gothic to make some dragon friends and now he even has family. - Let's see how similar our two brothers are... What's Choppers favourite food? Gothic's is halibut. And does he also get angry when you wake him up? And does his mood also change that fast? Within seconds sometimes?" Rue blabbered out all the many questions at once that came to her mind. This was so exciting!
((Nihtclaw, take your time to answer, I just jump a few minutes ahead here because I wanted to integrate what Mariella, Herze and Eslig posted.))
Rue could have talked about Gothics habits and moods for hours with Nihtclaw but then she noticed that Mariella had started to speak. "We should probably head out before noon. We probably don't want to get caught at Healer's Island at night with the wild dragons," Camping out sounded like a fun adventure, but then Rue remembered that wild Typhoomerang again and so she agreed to leave before noon so they would be back in the evening. "Which harbor is Phlegmas ship in? The Lookout?"
She felt sorry that Herze would not come with them to the island but she respected her concern for Valkor. She understood. Winnie had seemed pretty well this morning but Rubinesse still felt as well as letting her stay at home and rest while she and Gothic would go on the trip tomorrow.
"Ambolt and I would be more than happy to take a ship to Healer's Island. Maybe we can watch over the baby dragons while you guys find forage?" "That might be a good idea, Eslig. -If you want to take that on, handeling all the baby dragons running riot... Maybe I can even let Gothic stay with you while I go and get some Lavender from the south coast. But we will see how it goes, I guess you will have your hands full with the little ones already."
((@Rue Ok. Here it is!))
((@Everybody I decided that my text should be a slightly darker shade so we can see it better. :)))
"I always hoped so much for Gothic to make some dragon friends and now he even has family. - Let's see how similar our two brothers are... What's Choppers favourite food? Gothic's is halibut. "
"Chopper likes Halibut as well. He also enjoys Perch now and then." Nihtclaw answered
And does he also get angry when you wake him up? And does his mood also change that fast? Within seconds sometimes?" Rue said. "It's usually he who wakes up first, but yes. Chopper usually will get angry if disturbed. Chopper usually gets agressive to those who he dosen't know, but today seems different." Nihtclaw answered.
((Done! I'm still unsure if i should go to Healer's Island or not.))
((Yah, sorry for not posting. My laptop battery died, but I have another one on order. Plus it seems I am suffering from RPwriter's block or something :P The computer at work after hours will have to do, especially since I don't have AC at home!!))
Brasa chewed thoughtfully on a chicken leg. Her dragons did likewise - Fern with a mutton rib, and Clintonia with a yak thigh she was able to slip away from the roast pit. Her mind was getting sleepy from all the delicious food and warm and just a titch fuzzy from the smooth honey mead. Better stop now or she'd have to chew on some willow bark in the morning.
In a moment of conversation lull, Brasa piped up.
"So, tommorrow meet at Noon,
at Phlegma's ship at the Look Out,
with a bag in case of overnight stay,
then we sail and fly to Healer's Island.
Elsig will mind the little ones and the ship,
whilst the others harvest herbs."
She paused and got some looks in affirmation, then continued.
"Has anyone trained a Tidal Class Dragon? Might be wise for one to escort the ship. And the babes can start to learn about fishing, and maybe catch us and the dragons some sup." Fish wasn't really her to her personal taste; she would be sure to pack a slab of cheese.
She also wondered, Should I take Clintonia? She'd have to give her a look over in the morning. Perhaps another dragon like her Snafflefang, to let the Shovelhelm relax another day.
Eslig was pleasantly surprised when Mariella offered to split time watching the hatchlings with him. He knew that Ambolt wouldn't be content to sit around all day babysitting, even if the babies made things interesting and refused to behave (as young dragons so often do). He flashed Mariella a grateful smile and listened to Brasa outline the plan for their coming trip. Meet at the Look Out at Noon the following day, bring a bag in case of a night on the Isalnd.
Then, Brasa asked a question Eslig had no answer to. "Has anyone trained a Tidal Class Dragon?" Eslig was taken aback, he had never heard of this new class of dragon before. He remembered the culture shock when he an Ambolt had first arrived at the School, seeing the hundreds of dragons coexisting peacefully together with vikings. He didn't remember much about his time before Berk, but he had a nagging feeling that dragons hadn't been as accepted in his old home, wherever that was. He remembered knowing a few species of dragons, such as the Hideous Zippleback, the Gronkle, and (of course) the Deadly Nadder, but it seemed as though the School had attracted at least 30 or 40 different species of dragons.
He tentatively raised a hand and asked "What exactly is a Tidal Class Dragon?"
"What exactly is a Tidal Class Dragon?"
Brasa blinked in surprise at Elsigs's shy question. Someone was too busy taking dares and not enough time in classes! But, what were clans for? For learning (even if it was just learning to fight and play games like other clans).
Brasa cleared her throat.
"Well, very basically, Tidal Class dragons are water dragons." she paused for a second, trying to think of the best way to explain.
"It helps Vikings organize each species of dragon into categories, or classes. The classes we use are Stoker, Boulder, Strike, Sharp, Tracker, Mystery, and Tidal. These groupings are based on traits, abilities, and habitat. The dragons assigned to the Tidal class are ones very closely associated with the sea and water."
Brasa paused again for a moment. Species names were eluding her, perhaps because of its slight fuzziness.
"Like, the, ahhh, Scauldron is a Tidal class dragon. And the ... Thunderdrum."
Elsig looked both contemplative with the new information, and still a little confused. Perhaps he hadn't seen Scauldrons or Thunderdrums before. Then she belatedly remembered his amnesia of his life before Berk. She looked down in embarrassment. Then she looked around the table at the others for some help in explaining. Maybe someone had a Tidal Class dragon that Elsig could meet ...
((I have all the Tidal Class dragons in-game, but not 100% sure I want to use them for the RP. Since Brasa can't really swim, its probably not likely she would train one. I guess for the moment no, but always leave it open for later?))
((Mariella, it's possible that some of the characters here know about Eslig's amnesia. While it's not a topic he likes to talk about, I'm sure that due to his unique arrival on Berk there are at the very least rumors about his inability to recall his past. Also, Eslig did chronologically have contact with Brasa (shortly before the RP started with his/Ambolt's accident) so it may have come up then.))
Nihtclaw noticed that the talk about going to Healer's island with the aid of Tidal Class dragons quickly turned to a talk about Tidal class dragons. "Um, what do I do?" Nihtclaw asked shyly. Grub then landed on the lava lamp up ahead, then leaped down onto Nihtclaw's shoulder. He then growled like he wanted to be part of the conversation as well.
((Edited because I just realised this is a double post because i thought the previous post wasn't posted. Woopsies!))
I really need to fix my Form XD
Kris, Krystal or Winter
A house in the middle of Astrid and Fishleg's house
Kris is a sweet and gentile viking, but when she's in battle she's rough and ruthless. She likes being alone with her dragon Fur, well unless if she's needed with other things like classes and group meetings. Sometimes she would stay in berk, instead of going to school. She just can't be bothered doing all the work, when she can always aces them. Yes, she's a slacker. But, if you look closely she's a loner. She need friends to show her the right path.
Kris grew up without a mother, father, brother, sister nor a friend. She only have a dragon named Fur. Well she did have a family once, when she was three. When her island was being attacked by a group of vikings who only wants havock. Her real mother have to put her in a wooden small boat with an egg with her and send her to another island where she's gonna be safe. Then the egg suddenly hatched and saw Kris crying and kept her company. Then after that a lady found her named Rose and gladly kept her for the last five years.
And after that five years, her life has been really peaceful and lovely. Her dragon Fur is still learning how to fly. But until one day, a group of dragon trapers found the peacefull island and burned it into the ground. Kris and Fur are the only one who survived. "I will avenge my family one day" She said while tears pouring down her face. Fur suddenly nudge her nose to her cheek. "You always know how I feel" Kris suddenly stopped crying and gave Fur a warm smile. When Fur knows how to fly, then they flew off and followed the armada and destroyed their ship.
Then after seven years she's been attacking and destroying some berserker ship, until one day she's been captured by the berserkers. She then met Dagur the chief of the Berserkers. But before she spoke, she saw a blue nadder flying towards the ship and shooting some spines. The ship's sinking! She thought. Then the blue nadder rescued her and her dragon, then they went to a nearby island called Berk. "Thanks, for saving me and my dragon" She said while touching the nadder's nose. "You're Welcome" A young lady then jumped out off her dragon. "My name's Astrid by the way, What's yours?" She asked. "My name's Krystal, Krystal Winter" she said.
And when she met Astrid, Astrid then convinced her to build her house and go to school.
Do you want to reserve a color for your Viking? If Yes, what color?
Yes please, Turquoise.
She loves taking a bath and specially her favourite dish made by her trainer Kris, Fried Fish with honey and blueberry on top. Since that she grew up with Krystal she treat Kris as her own. Fur is loyal and protective for her trainer.
She grew up with Kris and took good care of her. Her backstory is the same with Kris
Let's just say, a broadwing. Or, perhaps somewhere around: 10 or more
Different from other Triple Stryke, he doesn't fight alot like the others. He might be a Male Triple Stryke, but he tries his best to keep himself calm. But, he gets very competitive everytime he's in a competition. He thinks that everything he does is a competition, but not in Krystal's attention. He just loves Krystal's company. If Krystal's in trouble, or any of his dragon friends he would bring out his three venomous pointy tails and strike it at ya.
Check out my Wattpad: Krystal's story is still on the making as well, and I can't seem to finish Chapter, due to Schoolworks and Homeworks. I shall remind myself, to fix my form in my spare time. ^^
Here's a rough sketch of Krystal's house. Underneath the second floor is the kitchen.
((Ohhh! Someone else loves blue I see!))
((So I'm compiling a list of remedies for our Role Play and for the HTTYD universe in general. I'm just going to drop it here. ITS NOT FINISHED! I may eventually create a page of this stuff somewhere.
So far I just have stuff from the HTTYD books and franchise, whether they are real or not. This is for both humans and dragons. If I missed something, please let me know somehow without replying to the post ...
I will also eventually and briefly google-research actual herbal remedies found in Scandinavia that may or may not have been used by the Vikings.
DO NOT TRY ANYTHING IN RL!!! If you are interested in herbal medicine, please research somewhere other than the internet and get with a certified herbal practitioner or even your medical doctor in some places (I think Europe is more open to herbals than the US ...).
Blue Oleander - While there does exist a flowering shrub called Oleander that has some toxicity to humans and animals (especially dogs), its flowers are white, red, or pink. There doesn't exist a blue-flowered oleander plant. In the HTTYD universe, blue oleander is a lovely blue flower that is toxic to reptiles, including dragons. Evidently the dragons merely have to be in the vicinity of the flowers to feel its effects of malaise.
This plant is helpful due to the Scauldron, which eats the blue Oleander. The resulting saliva of the Scauldron then serves as an antidote for other dragons sick with Oleander poisoning.
Purple Oleander - The purple variety is not toxic to dragons, and is used as part of an antidote mixture to reverse strong effects of Dragon Root, as seen in RTTE episode "Enemy of My Enemy".
Dragon Root - There does exist a plant native to the Americas nick-named Dragon Root. All fresh parts of it are poisonous. It can be dried and cooked and eaten. It has been used as part of ointments for sores, and internally for respiratory ills. In the HTTYD Franchise Universe, this large root effects all dragons except Gronckles. The mere presence of it causes aggression in dragons. Concentrated and injected (like on a poisoned arrow) serves as a sedative. It is also made into a gaseous form that apparently can render both dragon and human unconscious.
Bloodvein Eels - These large specific species of Eel are not found in real life. They are part of the cure concoction to fight Eel pox. In the HTTYD Franchise Defenders of Berk "The Eel Effect" episode, Buckthorn Root is part of a concoction to cure sick Berkians of Eel Pox, an illness exclusive to the HTTYD Universe.
Buffalord saliva and 'herbs' - The saliva from a Buffalord dragon produced while chewing certain undefined herbs produce an antidote to the fatal human disease called the "Scourge of Odin". This was seen in the RTTE episode "Buffalord Soldier".
Prickleboggle mist and saliva - This is exclusive to the HTTYD game School of Dragons. This dragon's cooling purple mist and presumably saliva helps heal wounds faster on Dragons. It is unclear if it helps with humans as well.
Shivertooth - Quiverpain Subspecies - This is a Shivertooth subspecies described in the game Rise of Berk. It says these dragon's scales and saliva are a remedy for sore throats.
Fireworm Gel - This stoker class' dragon's gel can help restore a Monstrous Nightmare's flame ability, as seen in the Defenders of Berk episode "Race to Fireworm Island".
Tide Glider Saliva - Tide Glider Saliva is said to have healing properties in both the games Rise of Berk and School of Dragon. There is not much detail about it.
Dragon Nip (HTTYD Franchise) - This plant doesn't exist outside of the HTTYD Franchise Universe. It clearly mimics Cat Grass and Cat nip which does exist. Cat Grass is a blanket term for young grain shoot that cats like to graze on, such as oats.
Dragon Nip (HTTYD Books) - Dragon nip in the books is derived from the Loafer Dragon's sweat glands. It causes other dragons to get sleepy and act drunken.
Deepest Purple FleshFang Oil - This is exclusively in the HTTYD Books. The oil from this un-described dragon makes a good slather to protect a human from the cold temperatures of the sea.
Blubberwing Fat - This is exclusively in the HTTYD Books. The fat from this dragon, when spread over a person's skin, protects from the frigid sea temperatures.
Potato - The-Vegetable-No-One-Dares-Name is an antidote to Vorpentitis, the poison from a Venomous Vorpent Dragon. This is exclusive to the HTTYD Books.
Buckthorn Root - There is a genus of shrubs called Buckthorn. It is not native to Scandinavia, but may be an introduced or invasive species there. Historically it was used as a laxative, but is also toxic if not used carefully. Some species are also used to make yellow and green dyes. In the HTTYD Franchise Defenders of Berk "The Eel Effect" episode, Buckthorn Root is part of a concoction to cure sick Berkians of Eel Pox, an illness exclusive to the HTTYD Universe.
Rock Blossom - This plant does not exist outside of the HTTYD Universe. In the HTTYD Franchise Defenders of Berk "The Eel Effect" episode, Rock Blossom is part of a concoction to cure sick Berkians of Eel Pox, an illness exclusive to the HTTYD Universe.
Goat Weed - In the HTTYD Franchise Defenders of Berk "The Eel Effect" episode, Goat Weed is part of a concoction to cure sick Berkians of Eel Pox, an illness exclusive to the HTTYD Universe. In reality, there are several plants around the world that are nick-named "Goat Weed". The most popular is a group of plants called "censored Goat Weed" that grows in China. It is not native to Scandanavia. It is a popular herb for erectile dysfunction, and is related to the active ingredient in censored.
Hypnotism - This was likely not used by Vikings. Gothi uses it to try and treat Fishlegs from possible allergies to Meatlug in the RTTE episode "Big Man on Berk". Hyponotism has been used to try to clear people of addidictions and phobias, with varying success, in the real world.
Salt - Table salt (sodium chloride) is shown to repel the dragon parasite called the Grimora. This is seen in the RTTE episode "A Grim Retreat".
Bitterweed - In real life, there are many different plants with a nick-name of bitterweed. None are native to Scandinavia. In the HTTYD Universe, it is seen in the RTTE episode "Enemy of My Enemy" and is part of a concoction to treat the effects of Dragon Root.
Fire Fern - There does exist an ornamental plant native to the Carribean called the Fire Fern. The genus it is in contains edible members, but it is unclear if this decorative fire fern is as well. In the HTTYD Universe, it is seen in the RTTE episode "Enemy of My Enemy" and is part of a concoction to treat the effects of Dragon Root.

"Nettles are sometimes used in cheesemaking, for example in the production of Cornish Yarg and as a flavouring in varieties of Gouda." Can be reduced to making coarse fibers for paper and linen, and making clothes for 2000 years. "The juice of the plant, or a decoction formed by boiling the herb in a strong solution of salt, will curdle milks and thus acts as a rennet substitute. This same juice, if rubbed into small seams of leaky wooden tubs, will coagulate and make the tub watertight again. A hair wash is made from the infused leaves and this is used as a tonic and antidandruff treatment. A beautiful and permanent green dye is obtained from a decoction of the leaves and stems. A yellow dye is obtained from the root when boiled with alum." It is believed to promote lactation. Can help saunch bleeding, including excessive menstruation. It would be a great way to get to know each other as a clan as well as getting supplies for the village." Hearing her respose caused Rose to smile a smile she couldn't hide. Thanking her for the opportunity she turned to pat Shadow on the snout. Turning towards Esling she called his name. "Thank you for delivering the loot to my house by the way. I think Shadow liked that it was delivered by Ambolt, though she refuses to admit it!" Being nudged by Shadow she smiled and looked towarda Mariella once more. " Umm... "I know we all just met, Nihtclaw, but you're welcome to join us if you would like," Mar said invitingly. "There's safety in numbers and we'll be sure to get a lot done with your help. We'll be collecting herbs and flowers to replenish the school's medical supplies. There's some risk because we may encounter wild dragons or enemy Viking along the way, but I think it'll be fun-- Would you like to come along?" Nihtclaw thought for a moment. Considering that they may encounter danger, Nihtclaw decided she should bring Chopper along, and her favorite weapon of choice, the dagger. "Sure, I'm in." Nihtclaw replied to Mar.
