How To Level Your Dragon - Quick Guide to Level Your Dragon
All the things you need are in the picture above -
The trees in the Wilderness, a Leather Ball, and a whole lot of Eels and Chicken Eggs.
Now due to the past nerfing of XP gaining from Eel Roast and the Alchemy Game, it's left a lot of players wondering how they are supposed to level their dragons now. This is especially frustrating for new players wanting to have that awe inspiring titan but not wanting to pay gems (and by extent real life currency) for said titan form, nor have the time to wait around or be online for battles in the Training Ground.
For those who don't understand, let me explain.
It used to be that Eel Roast was a game where a player could spend hours on farming XP, and after said hours would miraculously have their dragon at level 10 which they could then fly around on to their heart's content. The Alchemy game located in 'The Lab' also was one of the games where you could spend hours on and have the same effect. Well for reasons unknown the devs decided to take this away, and instead of giving players a massive amount of XP gain by these games only give them .. 10. Yep. 10 XP in which it takes hundreds to get to the higher levels.
There are battles in The Training Grounds that happen every two hours. You can use a short wing and broad wing dragon to shoot the ship with other players online to win XP at the end of the battle for that dragon, or switch to a baby dragon near the end of the battle to win XP for the baby. It's a great tactic to gain XP for all level dragons, but the only problem is actually being online to participate. Some people don't know when these hours are, some miss them, some battles glitch, others are in school, and others are at work and can't stop to defend the Training Grounds.
But don't fear. There are still ways you can spend hours farming for XP and are inexpensive if you have enough coins.
First Up - Chickens
Chickens are the staple for all of this to work. Chickens give you two eggs per bird after I believe around 5 - 8 minutes. Chicken eggs are a food you can feed to your dragon which bumps up their XP after receiving them. Get a lot of chickens, a lot of feed, and you are golden for the next phases of the game.
Second - Eels
You can gain Eels in two ways: fishing or buying them with coins. Eels are incredibly difficult to fish if you don't have a higher skilled rod, which costs gems. For new players it may be better to do a lot of quests, rack up those coins, and buy as many Eels as you can. Eels are well known for being something that brings a dragon's happiness down upon ingesting it. This is needed for the next phase of the XP gain plan.
Note: There are two dragon that feeding them Eels don't work: Deathsongs and Typhoomerangs. If you are trying to level up these dragons it is best to either let your dragons happiness go down on it's own by ignoring it, or skipping the leather ball technique and heading for the trees.
Third - The Leather Ball
How this works is you need to have your dragon 1) very uphappy. You will see a face by their picture for emotion, you'll need that red. 2) Not all the way full on energy.
The steps to gain XP from this to feed your dragon Eels until it is all the way unhappy, then go and throw it the Leather Ball until it is happy again. Each throw you'll gain XP until your dragon is happy with a yellow emotion icon again. Repeat until the desired level is gained. As an additional plus, when your dragon is low on energy you can feed it chicken eggs to gain additional XP while repeating this cycle.
Fourth - Trees
That's right, this method still works and it's one of the oldest methods used to gain XP by players. You gain access to the Wilderness early in the game by a quest giving by the Headmaster, in which the player and their dragon go into the Wilderness to learn how to survive on their own with only a fishing rod, an axe, and their trusted companion at their side. While the act of chopping wood doesn't give the dragon XP, feeding it chicken eggs when it's engery is fully depleted does. It's a long process but it works.
Combine all of these tricks to rack up XP on your lower level dragons fast. After level 10 it will become harder to gain XP fast, but it still works. Until the devs decide to bring back the XP gains in Eel Roast and the Alchemy game, this seems to be the only way I know of leveling up dragons without having to spend real money to level them, or loosing all those gems I've been saving for the newest dragon to come out.
Until then, stay safe, stay alert, and prosperous dragon training!

That is actually a really nice and helpful Topic! :D
But you probably have made a few mistakes (please do not take that wrong, I only wanna help ^^)
1- Chickens give you 3 eggs instead of 2 in a time of 25 minutes.
2- You forgot to add the Slithersong to the Dragons that eat eels. I feeded mine eels and it apparently eat those...
And that's pretty much all lol
My method is only based on the Leather Ball, Chicken eggs and reloading my DeviantArt page several times. First I play with my dragon to put down its energy from one point, then I press on the food button but I don't press on the Chicken eggs yet, then I get on my DeviantArt page and reload it, then quickly go back in the game and I can now feed 20+ Chicken eggs to my dragon, depends on how fast you keep pressing on the Chicken eggs button, until the page stops loading. It leveled up my dragon from 1 to 5 in only one DeviantArt page reload. I get a dragon level 10 in not even 5-10 minutes with this method.
I use a PC so this is probably faster than using a Phone or a Tablet.
Your methods also seem pretty useful! Thanks for sharing them ^^
Have a nice day! :D
Good guide! I had no idea about the trees way of gaining XP! Thanks for sharing!!!
I will also add that you can get it from Stable Quests, as well as Dragon Tactics, which also awards Viking XP! I tend to use Dragon Tactics quite a lot, and also battles quite a lot!
Thanks for making this guide!!
this is nice to know but will ur dragon grow with out spending anything? my dragon is way past the age that dragons can be titan she is still a broad wing .
Your dragon can only be Titan if you have a level 20+ dragon with 50 Titan Runes or paying the Titan Age up with 500 gems.
Getting Titan Runes needs patience and lots of Stable Quests, level 20+ dragons, Titan dragons...
If you have 50 Titan Runes, go to Titan Island with a level 20+ dragon that CAN be Titan and go press on the stone inside the volcano, they will ask you if you want to use 50 Titan Runes to grow up your dragon to Titan.
Hope it helps c:
Tracking! Great guide! :)
