Bravehero

"I'm royalty rabbit-brain," Aurora said, looking down at her foot. She laughed afterwards, as if she was making fun of herself. Bravehero waited for Aurora to say more, but she stayed quiet, which meant that she was most likely thinking about something. He willed himself to listen to another random Icewing thoughts, avoiding Aurora's, but he figured that it would just be better to start a new conversation that avoided this topic.

"So," he started quietly, easing into the topic. "Have you started thinking about how we're going to take on Bloodtaster and his goons? If they're still in the same spot we left them they should be hiding out in the Mud Kingdom."

Quetzal

He looked Lyre up and down, trying to read her expression. He realized just then that Lyre was either really good at keeping a blank face, or he's really bad at reading expressions. The more he thought about it, the more he came to declare that it was probably the second option.

"Oh..." Lyre looked up at them after a fee seconds.  "All of it!" She happily declared. "And, if you doont let me come with you, then, I will tell everyone!"

"Nooooooooo!" Quetzal shouted, falling to the floor. "Why! Oh why could've I've noticed you at the beginning of the conversation! WHYYYYYYY!"

"Wait," Carnage spoke up, emerging from the shadows after being silent. "We can't let the Rainwing come with us. I already hate her and I've only been around her for half a minute. I vote we ki'll her." Carnage sat down nicely, wrapping her tail around her feet.

Sunrise and Wavecrest

(Yay, go Forgotten! I really hope we get this thing to the end)

Sunrise listened carefully to what Aurora was saying.

"Young IceWings perform tests to determine their rank. IceWing dragonets start at the Seventh circle and work their way up to their determined rank. These tests revolve around every hunt, every fight, and every test of endurance in their earlier years. The place where you rank on your seventh hatching day determines where they will live as an adult." Aurora said. "Of course, there is another solution, The Diamond Trails is a test where a low-ranked IceWing challenges the highest-ranked. For the Diamond Trial, the low-ranked dragon must kill the highest ranked dragon in order for him/her to advance to first place. However, this is risky and the challenger may end up getting killed by the dragon." Sunrise attempted to imagine a world like that. It did make some sense, like if you were better at something than someone else, you would rank higher than them. But she felt that even the ranking was based on someone's opinion of someone else. Someone was making the ranking. If Skywings had rankings, she would rank at the bottom.

"Well that sounds pleasant," Bravehero said. "So what happens if they rank really low? Does that mean that they don't have a shot to do something great? Ever? Someone has to get last,".

Aurora replied smoothly, "No, they have Diamond Trials. Warheros got to move up in the circles as well." She paused, thinking it through. "Its not about whether or not you have royal blood coursing through your viens. Its about what you, as an individual has to contribute to the tribe. You will not find a fat, lazy, unskilled dragon sitting in the first circle here."

Sunrise nodded. That made sense. If you did something helpful and heroic, you would place high in the rankings. But those Diamond Trials did seem creepy.

"So where did you rank before you came to Jade Mountain?" Bravehero asked.

"I'm royalty, rabbit-brain!" Aurora laughed. Sunrise smiled. Even though Aurora was so queenly, she was so childish. Sunrise didn't know how to explain it.

"So," Bravehero started talking. "Have you started thinking about

how we're going to take on Bloodtaster and his goons? If they're still in the same spot we left them they should be hiding out in the Mud Kingdom."

"They probably still are in the Mud Kingdom. I thought we would wait for Wavecrest and Quetzal to figure out what to do," Sunrise said. "They are supposed to be waiting at the rocks in a few hours,".

Quetzal didn't seem scared at all. Just annoyed.

"Lyre!" He groaned. Oh, so Quetzal did know this Rainwing. Wavecrest looked around the air for any sign of the Rainwing.

"What are you doing! Were you spying on us? That wouldn't surprise me actually....," Quetzal said.

After a few minutes, the voice came again, this time from a different direction.

"You were making angry sounds and you have a funny looking blue dragon in here. You were practically begging to be spied on!" Wavecrest jumped. Lyre seemed to be everywhere at once.

Suddenly, a shine of color passed over something above Quetzal, and suddenly, a small Rainwing was visible above Quetzal. How she did that was absolutely amazing. Without a single dragon knowing where she moved!

"That still doesn't make it okay to magically pop out of nowhere and scare us all! You could've scared me and I might even karate chopped you in the face! Or worse! I might have actually hit you with that stick!" Quetzal yelled. By his expression, it was clear he didn't like this dragon. He started pacing around the room.

Wavecrest was still observing Lyre. She had scared them, and made them jump out of their scales. No, it was best they leave Lyre as soon as possible.

"How much of that did you hear!?!" Quetzal gasped suddenly. Wavecrest gulped. She didn't want Lyre to start a panic.

"Oh," Lyre thought for a moment.

"All of it!" A thought hit her shining eyes. "And if you don't let me come with you, I will tell everyone!" Lyre declared.

Quetzal looked sick for a moment.

"Nooooooooo!" Quetzal shouted, falling to the floor. "Why! Oh why could've I've noticed you at the beginning of the conversation! WHYYYYYYY!"

Carnage looked annoyed.

"Wait, we can't let the Rainwing come with us. I already hate her and I've only been around her for half a minute. I vote we kill her." Carnage said. Wavecrest shot a look at the Nightwing. She didn't want Lyre freaking out.

"No, no. We don't kill dragons," Wavecrest said, mainly to Carnage.

'Quetzal, tell me a bit about Lyre. Can she be bribed?' Wavecrest thought.

"Lyre, I'm not yet you want to come with us. This is going to be very dangerous, and you might not be able to see the Rainforest again. Do you want to be trapped by Nightwings and put into a cage with no sun?" Wavecrest asked.

"Have you started thinking about how we're going to take on Bloodtaster and his goons? If they're still in the same spot we left them they should be hiding out in the Mud Kingdom." Bravehero asked.

"They probably still are in the Mud Kingdom. I thought we would wait for Wavecrest and Quetzal to figure out what to do," Sunrise added helpfully. "They are supposed to be waiting at the rocks in a few hours."

"I was hoping I could grab a few loyal soldiers then met Wavecrest and Quetzel at the rocks. For backup, in case things get tight." Aurora replies.

She turns back to her food, suddenly unsure of herself. Everything seemed to come naturally to her but now that the fate of her entire kingdom rests on her shoulders, nothing seems sure. Nothing seems right or wrong. Black or white.

-Lyre-

Quetzel looked at her with scrutiny. Lyre kept a confident expression, totally not one that said she was lying. Which she wasn't. Pffffft. Lying. After her words processed through Quetzel's head, his reaction was hilarious, delayed, sure but hysterical nonetheless.

"Nooooooooo!" Quetzal shouted, falling to the floor. "Why! Oh why could've I've noticed you at the beginning of the conversation! WHYYYYYYY!"

Lyre began giggling very hard.

"Wait," The pretty-looking nightwing emerged from her secluded spot in the corner, seemingly materializing from the shadows. "We can't let the Rainwing come with us. I already hate her and I've only been around her for half a minute. I vote we kill her."

"Oi! Watch it! I am like, totally threatening!" Lyre declared. "Killing dragons is sooooo rude." She said this a bit too happily.

"No, no. We don't kill dragons." The funny-looking blue one stated firmly.

"See? She has manners." Lyre piped up.

The blue one turned to her.

"Lyre, I'm not yet you want to come with us. This is going to be very dangerous, and you might not be able to see the Rainforest again.

"No one will notice I'm missing." Lyre replied sadly.

"Do you want to be trapped by Nightwings and put into a cage with no sun?"

"Suntime is soooo lame. I mean, it seems pretty wasteful to sleep through and entire day." Lyra snorted. "Why waste your day when you can be doing stufff! Like... uh... eating and.... uh... training and.... eating..."

Bravehero

He nodded at there newly set plan and looked down at his food. The rare caribou seemed to grow twice as big in front of him and it now seemed like a trek to try to finish it. He wrinkled his nose at it but he sliced a piece off and began chewing on the fat'ty meat.

A few seconds latter, a scrawny maid walked up to their table. She bowed down to Aurora before returning back up. "Excuse my interruption your grace," she spoke tenderly, but confident. "But some of the Icewings are beginning to question on where they should be setting their offerings to you. What would you like me to tell them?"

'Already?' he thought, looking around. Most Icewings still seemed to be happily eating, but a few seemed to be becoming restless. Those must've been the few that didn't want Aurora to win. But still, you should still show enough rescept as to wait until the ceremony was over.

Quetzal

"Oi! Watch it! I am like, totally threatening!" Lyre declared, choosing to not side with Carnage. "Killing dragons is sooooo rude."

Quetzal kept snapping his head in the direction that the latest voice came from, determined to keep his eyes on whoever was talking. But this soon proved har,d to do as the dragons picked up the pace of the conversation.

"No, no. We don't kill dragons." Wavecrest backed up.

"See? She has manners." Lyre inputted, smiling a bit too happily.

"Lyre, I'm not yet you want to come with us. This is going to be very dangerous, and you might not be able to see the Rainforest again," Wavecrest pointed out.

Like... uh... eating and.... uh... training and.... eating..."

"Whoa-whoa," Quetzal interjected. "Back up. Suntime is actually amazing and you shouldn't speak badly of it. You don't want to hurt this idea's feelings. It might get mad at you."

"And how did this conversation drift to talking about how suntime had feelings?" Carnage snapped. "Why don't we rip out her vocal cords and try her to a tree instead? That's nicer than killing her!"

"Carnage," Quetzal said in a soothing voice, turning to her. "WE AREN'T KILLING ANYBODY! WHAT ARE YOU NOT UNDERSTANDING!"

Bloodtaster

He sat highly on his throne, looking down at the smaller Nightwings below. He drummed his talons on the arm on his chair, but it only kept so much down. Everyone in the room could feel the anger radiating off of his scales. They scurried across the room, trying to do everything in their power not to make their king mad.

In the back corner of the room stood a small huddle of Nightwings, each trying to push each other to the front. "You should do it." "I don't want to do it! Make him do it!" "I'm a hunter! You don't get to decide what I can and cannot do!" The Nightwings bickered with one another in harsh whispers. Finally, all there eyes came to rest on the one Nightwing who stayed quiet the entire time.

They quickly shoved him out, pushing a plate of meat into his hands. Before he had the time to reject, the others scrambled out of the room. The lone Nightwing could see his talons vigorously shaking, but he had no choice. He swallowed the clump of spit that settled in his throat and walked towards the giant throne.

He tightly bowed at the sight of his king, but Bloodtaster payed him no notice. The Nightwing stole a glance at Bloodtaster's son, Spiritcrusher, but he paid the same, if not, less attention than his father. The young prince studied his nails, seeing how the moonlight reflected off them at different angles.

"Good evening, King Bloodtaster," the lone Nightwing said, his voice hoarse. He raised the plate of meat up and set it of the arm of the throne. He then slowly began backing away, but was cut off by his king's words.

"Why isn't she back yet?" He asked, his deep voice echoing off the walls. He grabbed the slab of meat and bit into. "She said that she would be back by sundown. It's almost midnight!" The large dragon slapped the tray off the throne with the back of his hand, before standing up.

"Maybe the time in the rainforest is different than it is here?" The young Nightwing ensured with a weak voice.

"I want the girl here with the Seawing's and Rainwing's skulls in her talons! I want to see their dead bodies before me and I want to see them now!" Bloodtaster shouted, thrusting his sharp talons at the Nightwing, leaving five large cuts across his face. The Nightwing's talons quickly covered his wound as he fled from the room, quickly rushing to the nearest healing room.

Still upset, Bloodtaster ran back to his seat, sitting down with rage in his eyes. "Easy father," Spiritcrusher cooed. "Soon all of this is over and you'll be ruling the entire continent. And who knows! Maybe we'll find a whole 'nother one that we can also conquer!"

"Easy for you to say," Bloodtaster growled. "Your whole fate doesn't lay in the talons of five reckless dragonets."

"Oh trust me, I do," Spiritcrusher countered. "If I ever see that group again, I have a lot of great news to tell them. Plenty of good things."

Queen Aurora -IceWing- and Lyre -RainWing-

-Aurora-

Aurora sat there awkwardly for a bit until she was interrupted by one of her servants. Although she was relieved for this interruption, she did not let it show.

"Excuse my interruption, your grace," The Servant mumbled. "But some of the Icewings are beginning to question where they should be setting their offerings to you. What would you like me to tell them?"

Queen Aurora started to notice the impatient looks some of the IceWings were making. She sighed, might as well carry it on.

"Tell them to set it next to my throne." She instructed the IceWIng. It to her that most of her subjects were done eating. "Also, begin cleaning up the feast, we need to proceed with haste." She murmured.

-Lyre-

"Whoa-whoa," Quetzal interjected. "Back up. Suntime is actually amazing and you shouldn't speak badly of it. You don't want to hurt this idea's feelings. It might get mad at you."

Lyre glanced at Quetzel with a pitying expression.

"Moonlight is waaaaay better." She scoffed.

"And how did this conversation drift to talking about how suntime had feelings?"The NightWing roared. "Why don't we rip out her vocal cords and try her to a tree instead? That's nicer than killing her!"

Lyre gasped.

"That is beyond rude! I totally need my vocal cords to sing!" She whimpered. "I like singing."

"Carnage," Quetzal said in a soothing voice, turning to her. "WE AREN'T KILLING ANYBODY! WHAT ARE YOU NOT UNDERSTANDING!"

"Or ripping out their vocal cords!" Lyre added.

The RainWing turned to Quetzel with pleading eyes.

"You have to let me go. If you don't, I will tell Queen Glory." She threatened.
