((Actually, piggy, your most recent post is actually a really good size, with a good mix of description and dialogue. Don't feel as if you have to write a book each time you post- smaller posts are easier to respond to and it allows for a variety of RPers to interact with because it doesn't move things ahead too quickly))

With Donni deciding to carry Mychael, Eslig was free to fly Ambolt close to Driftwood. Both dragons entered a glide, allowing their riders to quietly converse out of earshot of Donni's two riders. Although he had a pretty good idea where Eira stood on the matter, Eslig still felt like asking.

"What do you think?" he asked, wiping rain out of his eyes. Lightning flashed in the distance and Ambolt flinched, momentarily floundering in midair before recoering. Eslig's heart was racing, too, and he forced himself to take several deep breaths before continuing. "He seems harmless enough... and he'd be dumb to try and pull anything, not in this weather and not with three dragons watching him."

The glow of their campfire in the distance eased some of the fear in Eslig's chest, but one look at Ambolt told him that it was going to be a long night. The Nadder had a tendency to fire off spines at anything that moved during thunderstorms, and Eslig had no desire to see his friends impaled. Still, he was loath to leave his friends alone with the newcomer. As Ambolt landed near the campfire with the other dragons of Earthguard, Eslig wrestled with his dilemma.

Eira considered her words

Eira considered her words carefully as she watched Mychael on the back of Donni through the streaks of rain. She didn't even realize how her previous awkwardness around Eslig had been all but forgotten. "I think we should keep a close eye on him. But..." She looked to Eslig thoughtfully, a curious little smile playing at the corners of her mouth. "Well, you turned out alright. And that dragon of his doesn't seem like he's being forced or anything." As they spoke, Orvar peeked his head up and looked out towards Mychael and Scuttles, giving a sleepy little roar before snuggling back up into Eira, belly rumbling contently. She laid a gentle hand on him. "Still, doesn't mean I like him yet."

The group circled and came in for a landing at their campsite, where they resumed their now late night meal, sharing with Mychael and Scuttles. Eira settled down near Eslig as she kept a close eye on their visitor and Driftwood provided them shelter from the rain. It was going to be a long night, she could feel it.

Escape the storm

"Well, you turned out all right" Eira said, a small smile flickering on her face. Eslig was grateful for the cover of darkness as he blushed slightly. He no longer felt quite as awkward around Eira, but nonetheless he glowed inside after hearing her praise.

Upon reaching the campfire, Eslig got comfortable as best he could after a quick meal. Eira sat down close by and Eslig smiled at her, grateful for her company. Drift sheltered them both with one massive wing as rain drops continued to fall. The storm grew closer and jagged lightning arced across the sky, a low rumble of thunder soon following.

Although he was surrounded by his friends and warmed by the fire, Eslig couldn't get comfortable. The storm drew closer and closer, Ambolt's obvious unease only adding to Eslig's fear. He found himself unconsciously shifting both further under Drift's wing and closer to Eira, as if her bow and two-toned eyes would defend against the storm. He called across the fire to where Mychael was. "You can sleep in my tent tonight, if you'd-"

THWACK! A bright green Deadly Nadder spine from Ambolt embedded itself in the small patch of sand between Eslig and Eira, Ambolt on the verge of panic because of the storm. Eslig leapt to his feat, his own resolve failing in the face of the relentless gale.

"I'm sorry, we need... I mean, Ambolt needs..." Eslig tried to explain to Eira as he rushed out into the storm. He somehow managed to get into Ambolt's saddle despite the Nadder's frantic movements and his own trembling hands. Rue and Eira's protests carried away by the wind, Eslig hung on as Ambolt took off on foot towards the interior of the island.

Ambolt ran and ran, each new shadow and sound a threat. Lightning flashed and thunder roared as they raced through the trees deep into a forest somewhere on the island. Branches tore at Eslig's arms and face, and more than one time he nearly lost his grip.

Some minutes later, an exhausted Ambolt took shelter in a cave, his equally tired rider practically falling out of the saddle. Ambolt found a corner away from the mouth of the cave and collapsed, shivering, as Eslig hugged his dragon as much for his own comfort as for his dragon's. Outside the storm continued to pass by as rider and dragon slowly fell asleep together, frightened and alone.

Mychael could tell that the

Mychael could tell that the only person that would’ve been fine having him and Scuttles sleep in their tent was the one that left in a hurry. Why he left, Mychael has no idea. “I guess I’ll just sleep out here.“ Mychael said and soon enough everyone went into their tents, leaving the young boy and his dragon out in the cold rain. “You don’t mind if a hum a tune do you?“ he asked Scuttles. In reply the Terrible Terror jumped off his friends head and sat down awaiting to her the song. Mychael smiled and stroked the dragon’s head as he began to hum a soft tune. After humming it through once he began to sing “The moon shines down on the ocean, a soft wind blows from the sea. I hear a tune that my mother, once sand so sweetly to me. She sang Tu Le Lu Le Lu Tu Lay and Tu Le Lu Le Lu Tu Lie. The moon shines down on the ocean, a soft wind blows from the sea. I sing a song that my mother once sang so sweetly to me. I sing Tu Le Lu Le Lu Tu Lay and Tu Le Lu Le Lu Tu Lie.“ Scuttles began to roar along with Mychael’s singing but they were interrupted by a strike of lightning. The small dragon coward back and hid behind Mychael. Then above them flew a giant red dragon carrying a smaller teal one. “Wow.“ He boy mumbled and then was about to fallow it when he realized how suspicious disappearing during the night would seem. Mychael looked around and found a charcoal pencil and sheet of paper and wrote

Do not worry if I am not here in the morning. I saw a giant red dragon during the night carrying a smaller one and fallowed it. I shall return here but I am also fine if you want to leave me here to die. Goodbye if that is the case and thank you for all that you’ve done for us.

Mychael

Then the boy placed the letter under a small pebble on a stump and rushed off after the dragon with Scuttles.

Many hours passed and Mychael lost the dragon a few times but found it again. The boy had run on sheets on thin ice and had almost fallen through. Mychael was determined to find where the dragon was going and why he was carrying the smaller one. By now Mychael was getting tired and was falling behind. Then to his astonishment the dragon dove down off a cliff. Mychael rushed to the edge and saw the most beautiful sight, a village lit by torches as Vikings on the backs of dragons flew past. The boy turned to his dragon and realized he fell asleep on his shoulder. “Wait here.“ He said and placed down the sleeping dragon, not knowing if these people where friend she or foes. Mychael saw a bridge below him and began to climb down the cliff (it wasn’t that high)

Soon enough he reached the wooden bridge and ran to the village. The villagers who were still awake stared at him but that didn’t stop the boy from running to the red dragon. As he came closer he saw a girl was on the dragon’s back and the smaller teal dragon was escaping. Trying to help, Mychael ran after the dragon into the forest. The dragon saw him and tackled Mychael to the ground. The dragon roared and began to charge a blast “Calm yourself, I will not hurt you.“ the dragon got off of Mychael and growled. To the dragon’s surprise Mychael bowed, trying to show that he respected the dragon and was not trying to command it. “I am Mychael, and I shall not harm you.“ the dragon continued to growl as the boy looked up at him “I awoke this morning with no memories of my past and was confronted by Vikings and dragons. After almost being killed by them I earned there trust enough to stay alive and they took me to there camp. During the night I saw a red dragon carry you across the night sky and I fallowed. I may not remember my past, we may not be the same the same species, we may not share the same past, but we share the same tomorrow.“ the dragon was stunned by the boy’s words and stopped growling. The dragon paced around Mychael suspiciously, and the boy calmly stood up. “I will not hurt you, trust me.“ the wild dragon looked into Mychael’s dark teal eyes and recognized them. “Yes, I used to be a hunter but I did not want to be. I was forced to hurt dragons, but no longer. From no on I will do everything in my power to help them and never again will I harm them.“ the Shockjaw stood fiercely in front of Mychael and the boy approached the dragon. Soon enough he stood right in front of the Shockjaw and Mychael knelt down and bowed his head “I sense you had a horrible past, one where you were hurt by hunters. So was I, I remember being taken from my home by a dragon during the night along with some livestock. I couldn’t choose my destiny then and neither could you. But now, now we can.“ Mychael raised his head to see the dragon looking directly at him.

The Shockjaw hesitated but finally bowed to Mychael. Both stood up and looked into each other’s eyes, neither one fully trusted the other but it was a start.

Notes

((Hey piggy, I read your post and I have a couple things I'd like to mention.

-Nice job working music into your post. I think I've heard that song, too!

-Eslig (my character, speaks in red text) is male. So is the pink Deadly Nadder, Ambolt.

-Am I correct in assuming that Mychael ran into Albatross on Berk? Remember, our party is on an island separate from Berk, looking for dragon traps. Maybe Mychael traveled across the ice between the two islands? Although it's nearly spring, there might still be enough ice to make this reasonable.

-Dragon is spelled with a G, not an H. It's easy to miss a key while typing and hit the wrong one (I've done that several times!), I would encourage you to write your posts in a program like Microsoft Word and then post it into the forums here- Word can help you find spelling and grammar mistakes.

- I really liked your scene between Mychael and Albatross. Nice use of dialogue.

Let me know if you have any questions or concerns- this is a free-plotted adventure but I want to make sure that everyone's on the same page.))

((hm.. I dunno, I feel like there shouldn't be enough ice to travel to Berk on foot like that. If I recall, correctly, we are in spring, not nearly spring. And it did take a while for our dragons to fly to this island. I feel like that would be an improbable distance to travel on foot. Also, I d be more inclined to see what Jackalope was going to do before jumping ahead that far as she was gonna try to come join us. I know you're anxious to get mychael and albatross together, but character development is so much better and more rewarding if you let it dvelop more slowly and naturally.))

((edit: Also, Sandstone wouldn't be flying over this island on his way to Berk carrying Albatross, because we found Albatross on Berk. So it would be impossible for Mychael to have seen them flying overhead and follow them.))

Eira blushed as Eslig scooted

((EDIT: whoops, forgot about Orvar, again, lol. And fixed some grammatical errors))

Eira blushed as Eslig scooted closer, and she was wholly thankful for the low lighting and her hood to hide it, though she frowned at the two of them, picking up on rider and dragon's anxiety. She was about to ask if everything was alright when a nadder spine embedded itself in the ground between them. Eira jumped back, startled, but she immediately relaxed when she realized it was just Ambolt's. Driftwood cooed softly, trying to calm the pink nadder down and a smirk jumped to Eira's lips as she was about to jokingly berrate the two for being so jumpy. But Eslig suddenly leapt to his feet and dashed out into the storm with Ambolt, calling his half finished explanation back to them.

Eira jumped to her feet as well, smirk gone. "Eslig? Wait-" But the two of them were already out of sight and earshot. She exchanged a quick, worried look with Rue before the older viking nodded understandingly.

"Go. I'll stay and watch them," Rue nudged her head towards the remaining dragons and Mychael.

Eira nodded firmly, needing little less encouragement and she was off into the dark, stormy woods in a flash, unceremoniously dumping a grumpy Orvar to the ground. Driftwood roared after her in distress and Rue tried to keep the gentle giant calmed, but it was little use. The timberjack bolted off after his rider, following from above the treetops and searching for her through the canopy. Without his human pillow and timberjack tent to protect him, the little red Terror jumped at the thunder and skittered over to Rue and the others, snuggling up with them.

The storm raged around them as Eira plowed through the woods, trying to pick up on Eslig and Ambolt's trail. But the darkness and the storm were working against her. She zigzagged through the trees, calling out for them, drenched from head to toe. Several times she lost her footing and slipped on slick roots and slippery mud, but she pressed on in determination.

"Eslig! Ambolt!" A cough escaped her chattering teeth as she drew her cloak closer about her and took each step more carefully over the unfamiliar terrain. A bloodied knee stung in the torrential rain, but the biting cold and growing worry overcame any other sensations. "Eslig!"

((Yeah, I believe that was

((Yeah, I believe that was the first movie. Though it is probably mostly true, I wonder how much of that was exaggeration, like when Luke calls Tatooine the planet farthest from the center of the universe. :P And I'm sure there would definitely be some ice on the ocean between islands, though I dunno if it would be enough to travel between two islands on foot. Regardless, though, it certainly would be a trying feat to travel this way in the course of one night when it took dragons via flying the better part of a day. Though all that is really a moot point when you consider the fact that Rebecca and Sandstone wouldn't have been flying over this island in the first place.

However, she may be coming to join us on this island, so perhaps wait for Jackalope to get her post up and see what she does, because then Mychael could still see Sandstone flying overhead then and go to investigate. And you can also feel free to have Albatross follow her there, as well. He certainly doesn't have to be cooperative and remain on Berk like the good little dragon he is not. ;P And I imagine it would totally be in character for him to do so.

Eslig is going to be inactive for the next week or so, anyway, so I think this will be a great opportunity to let everyone catch up and get us all on the same island at least, and give Rue and Jackalope a chance to chime in. ^^))

Guard duty failed

((Chiming in :-) ))

Ouff... Rue swept the water from the cold rain off her face. What a storm... With a low fizz the remaining flames of the campfire died down in the rain that grew stronger every minute. It was time to disappear into the tents and get some rest. But unfortunately, Ambolt didn't think so. Rue remembered Eslig telling her about Ambolt's storm anxiety as soon as Donni bumped into her so that the first flying Nadder spine shortly missed her.

Eslig ran after the frantic Ambolt and disappeared with him into the darkness. Before Rue could protest, Eira was on her feet as well. "Okay, go. I'll stay and watch them," Rue managed to yell before Eira was out of sight, too. Clinging to Driftwood and trying to hold him back was useless and a second later the Timberjack was gone as well.

Concerned about her friends in the storm and feeling a little helpless, Rue stood in the rain for a moment, picking up the shivering Orvar into her arms. But realizing that she was soaked to the bone made her finally return to the camp. Hastily, she handed some roasted fish to Mychael and signaled him to find shelter in Eslig's tent before hurrying into her own one. She sat down and peeked through a gap in the tent's entrance. She would be on guard at least until her friends were back. She still didn't trust that strange young man completely. He was still standing outside in the rain and Rue wondered if he had gotten her hint about Eslig's tent?

She found a dry blanket in her bag and wrapped it around her. The warmth slowly warmed her shivering body. Orvar had curled up next to her feet, his eyes closed.

******************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Rue suddenly cringed. Everything was dark around. It took her some time to get back to her senses and to realize where she was. Orvar was sleeping next to her. And Donni, too big for the tent, had at least stuffed his head inside through the entrance, snoring peacefully.

From the sound of raindrops falling on the roof, Rue could tell that the rain had diminished. She stuck her head outside, climbing over Donni and waking him in the process. The storm had died down a little but it was still windy and cold. Stumbeling through the darkness she made her way around the camp. Eslig and Eira were still gone. Great... Rue could not believe that she apparently had fallen asleep...

Hopefully Mychael was still... Finishing her round around the camp told her otherwise. Great... Now the newfound boy was gone, too!

Wiping off the sleep from her eyes, Rue just stood there, feeling foolish. "That didn't go well, did it?", she said, more to herself than to Donni. The Thunderdrum came over and snorted in sympathy.

Soon after sitting out in the

Soon after sitting out in the rain for a while, the storm seemed to let up. Knowing they needed shelter, Mychael and Scuttles rushed into the forest to collect some wood. After searching for a while they found the perfect trees, they were short and thin enough to cut easily but thick enough to stay up, the only problem was that neither the boy nor the Dragon had anything to cut them with. “Well that stinks.“ Mychael mumbled and began to look for something sharp. Determined, the boy kept searching, though nothing around him was sharper than an eraser. “How about we search farther into the forest?“ Mychael suggested to his dragon. Scuttles sighed and fallowed his master deeper into the woods.

AUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU! The sound of howling wolves echoed through the labyrinth of trees and sent a chill down Scuttles’s spine. Scared, the dragon jumped onto Mychael’s shoulder and clinged tightly. “It’s ok boy, it’s only a couple of wolves.“ As he finished saying that both him and Scuttles where thrown into the air and cought in a net meant for wild dragons. “Now I really wish we had something sharp.“ Then a pack of black figures came out of the shadows. The wolves howled and surrounded the net, even if they got down they would be eaten. To Mychael’s surprise, Scuttles Shot a fire blast into the air like a flare. This angered the wolves and they began to claw at the net and began to rip it.

Until Dawn

Eslig shivered despite himself, the cool spring air washing over his soaked clothing and chilling him. He shivered again and pressed closer to Ambolt, the warmth of his dragon lulling him into sleep. With Ambolt already snoring slightly, exhausted by the terror of the storm and their mad dash through the island, Eslig found himself slowly drifting off to sleep. The cave was dry, and their combined body heat was enough to make the small space comfortable despite the cold winds of the storm outside. The cave formed an L shape, allowing those inside to remain hidden from outsiders.

Eslig thought briefly of his friends, alone with a newcomer named Mychael in small tents on the beach. He felt more than a little guilty for leaving them, but what was done was done. The storm still terrified him, and there was no way he was getting Ambolt to leave before the storm passed. Lightning flashed again, throwing a pair of jagged shadows against one wall of the cave. Less than a second later another lightning bolt arced through the sky, and Eslig sat up with a small cry of fright- the shadows were moving.

Ambolt was instantly awake, wrapping one wing protectively around his rider and struggling to manuever in the confined space of the cave. Eslig realized that his Nadder didn't have enough room use his tail to fire spines, putting him at a major disadvantage against other dragons.

Eslig felt heat radiate from Ambolt's jaws as he charged up a blast of magnesium. The smaller of the two shadows had to be just around the corner.

"Wait!" he cried out as a figure came into view. Above him, he heard Ambolt swallow his blast, but Eslig barely noticed as he rushed forward to support his friend. Eira was soaked to the skin, and limped slightly thanks to a bloody knee.

"Eira! Are you okay?"  Eslig hugged her, then helped Eira to sit down. Behind Eira, Driftwood did his best to squeeze into the opening of the cave, finally settling on a half in/half out compromise. Ambolt settled down next to the vikings and sat with his jaws open, the barest hint of magnesium fire in his maw radiating heat and soft light throughout the small cave.

Despite the storm, which had

Despite the storm, which had slowly started to let up, Eira had been able to follow Ambolt's mad dash through the woods until she came upon a cave. At least, she hopped it had been Ambolt's trail she had been following, and not another who was currently occupying the shelter, because it looked so inviting and Eira's aching limbs would have sent her headlong into it, heedless of any danger. But survivor's sensibility forced her to approach slowly and cautiously, regardless, as another cough wracked her body. Her hand slipped against the sleek rock at the entrance as she eased her way in, eliciting a hiss as a sticky red trail blossomed across her palm.

She was about to call out when a shape formed from the depths of the cave and Eslig stepped out, just in time to catch her. She shivered against him as he brought her deeper into the cave and helped her sit down, another cough shaking through her. Already the warmth of the cave and Ambolt's fire was radiating through her. Or was that something else...? Her mind was too foggy to focus more clearly on that. She smiled groggily in thanks to Ambolt before responding to Eslig through chattering teeth. "W-was worried... about you...." She hugged her arms around herself, trying to hold in as much of the heat as possible. As Driftwood's head snaked in towards them, his bulk sealed more of the warmth within and a low glow radiated from his mouth as well, adding to Ambolt's hotter fire. The gentle giant rumbled in concern for both of them.

"R-ran off... in the storm. Wanted t-to make sure you were all right. Thanks, big guy," she added to Driftwood. The timberjack rumbled softly again and then nudged his head against Ambolt, as though asking if the other dragon was alright.

((Edit: Changed any instances of 'Albatross' in the post))

AUUUUUUUUUUU!

The Shockjaw's head jerked up at the sound of baying wolves. The Shockjaw wasn't sure why the larger dragon and its viking had dropped him off on this island, but after releasing the tidal class dragon, the two flew off- not back to where they had come from, but onward to a new destination. The storm that had been brewing on the horizon was now dropping large, fat raindrops onto the island.

The dragon took a moment to relish in the feeling of water flowing over his scales. While the wound on his shoulder still hurt, there was hope for the future- he was free. The wind picked up again, bringing familiar scents with it- the nice girl was here, along with some of the others that had helped rescue him. There was something new here, too.

AUUUUUUUUUU! The cry of wolves went up again, and this time a bright fireball burst in the sky. Sensing a challenge, the Shockjaw lashed his tail back and forth before answering the wolves' call with his own roar. Not waiting for an answer to his challenge, he took off through the forest in the direction of the quickly fading flare.

((Hey all, I think Jackalope has decided to move on from this RP. She's not on the Earthguard Discord anymore, so here's a quick plot patch to try and get Albatross and Mycahel together. Mychael, if you don't like how Albatross is portrayed please let me know and I can edit or delete this post. Basically, Jackalope has dropped off Albatross on this island to release him back to the wild. Jackalope and her dragon then flew off in an undetermined new direction in pursuit of a different adventure, leaving Albatross on the island with all of us.))

((I like it though he hasn’t

The Shockjaw ran to the sound, still unable to fly and the rain became harder and harder as he traveled to the Howl. AUUUUUUUUUUU! The wolf called back and the Tidal Class dragon roared louder than the beast. The wild dragon found the source of the call to find a pack of wolves surrounding a young man and his dragon in a net. BOOOOOM! An explosion of sparks hit the wolves and they fled as the Shockjaw roared victoriously. His eyes then turned to the man Anemone he growled, recognizing the face (saw him when he was with the hunters) “Calm yourself, I will not hurt you.“ the man said and the Shockjaw reluctantly cut the trap but was surprised to see the boy still in front of him.

The man bowed to the dragon showing his respect and said I am Mychael, and I shall not harm you.“ The Shockjaw growled and Mychael looked up at him still kneeling “I awoke this morning with no memories of my past and was confronted by Vikings and dragons. After almost being killed by them I earned there trust enough to stay alive and they took me to there camp. During the night I got cought in a dragon trap when you saved me. I may not remember my past, we may not be the same the same species, we may not share the same past or who knows maybe we do, but we do share the same tomorrow.“ The Shockjaw stopped his growling and walked in circles around Mychael and Scuttles, who had been asleep ever since they were captured. “I will not hurt you, trust me.“ the Shockjaw hesitated and returned his gaze to the familiar dark cyan eyes “Yes, I used to be a hunter but I did not want to be. I was forced to hurt dragons, but no longer. From no on I will do everything in my power to help them and never again will I harm them.Mychael slowly approached the dragon.

“I guess I need something to call you don’t I... well the only thing I remember flying near the water was an albatross. Albatross... Albatross... that’s it! The name sounds fierce yet with authority. What do you think?“ Albatross sat up and shook his head once (going down and then up once). “I almost forgot.“ Mychael Said and he pulled out Scuttles who was sleeping under his animal skin cape. “This is Scuttles.“ Albatross toward over Scuttles and smiled quickly seeing that he was already the alpha of this pack. A black figure Leaped out of the shadows and Mychael blocked the attack that almost hit Albatross. Scuttles woke up and hid with terror under the cape. The wind began to blow and Mychael’s cape blew in the wind another wolf lunged forward and Albatross blocked it with his wing. The pack, larger than before charged at Mychael and his dragons “Albatross Go!“ Mychael yelled but the dragon couldn’t fly, let alone carry Mychael and Scuttles. As more and more wolves came Mychael still didn’t understand why Albatross wouldn’t fly. Then in a blink of an eye the leader, a very large wolf, lunged for Albatross and Mychael jumped onto Albatross trying to take the hit but only cuased more issues. The sudden weight made Albatross loose his balance and fall off the cliff alongside with Mychael An day Scuttles. Mychael Quickly climbe dkntk Albatross Back But could’nt sit because of the spike like things. To his surprise when he pushed on the They retracted! Mychael tried his best to get into a good position but ended up laying on Albatross’s back. With all the dragon’s energy he spread his wings and glided to a landing. It was so abrupt that it cuased Mychael to fall of his dragon’s back.

((I have literally no idea how else Mychael is supposed to ride Albatross since in the game your Viking can just go right through the spikes like they aren’t there.))

Rainy day

Between Ambolt's magnesium and Drift's fire, the cave was soon cozy and warm. Eslig lit a small torch for light and stuck it in the ground. Ambolt got the message and ceased his efforts; no more warmth was needed- Driftwood's body was sealing the cave effectively enough to keep heat in. The storm was nearly past, only distant rumblings every few minutes remained from the gale that had struck earlier.

Ambolt seemed to be in higher spirits, his spines flat for the first time since the storm began. The Nadder comfortably curled up a couple feet from the torch, providing a scaly backrest for Eslig and Eira. Every so often he would croak in Driftwood's direction, and Eslig got the sense that his Nadder felt safer when the young Timberjack was around. Eslig felt a small twinge of jealousy, Just me and Ambolt, but just as quickly brushed it aside. Those days were long past, and he knew he was a better viking after having joined Earthguard. Come to think of it, he was grateful for his friends- their presence meant that he and Ambolt were no longer alone.

Eira seemed to be doing better, too, but her face was hard to read in the flickering light of the torch. She'd stopped shivering but, as ever, Eslig wasn't quite sure what she was thinking. Truth be told, he was a little surprised she hadn't hit him for running off earlier. He had heard stories of Astrid gently socking Hiccup (and not so gently socking Snotlout), and it occurred to him that his actions probably deserved a good smack.

"I'm... uh, sorry we ran off earlier" he said finally. "Ambolt and I don't exactly enjoy storms" he mumbled, fighting away the terror being conjured up by his thoughts. "There was a thunderstorm when we escaped. It's one thing to be huddled in your cell, listening to the skies tearing themselves apart, but it's quite another to be in the storm, surrounded by rain and lightning and thunder... and we weren't alone, either. Something was there with us in the storm- I never got a good look at it, but I could always sense it was there." He shuddered involuntarily at the memory. "Since then, well... you saw what happened tonight... I'm sorry... and... thanks for coming after me" he finished.

    Mychael stood up and

Mychael stood up and brushed the dirt off of himself only to realize Scuttles fell out of his cape. “Scuttles?” The young boy called and a tiny head popped out of a bush “Scuttles!” He said with relief and walked over to the brush. Mychael stuck his hands into the plant and pulled out Scuttles only to realize his hands had been scraped a little. The dragon trainer placed the Terrible Terror on his shoulder and walked over to Albatross “Sorry, I-I didn’t realize you can’t fly. It must be from that scar right?” The Shockjaw nodded “Please forgive my unthoughtful action.” Albatross looked into the sky but Mychael could tell he was forgiven. “Albatross? I have some friends at a camp nearby, it’s almost morning and they’ll probably leave me.” The Shockjaw hesitated, remembering the last group he met. But there was that one girl who understood him… After thinking it over for a while Albatross lowered his back as if giving Mychael a ride to the camp.

After a long while of trying to push down the spikes without hurting the dragon, Mychael made enough room to sit on Albatross. The Shockjaw turned his head towards Mychael “Oh! The camp should be somewhere in the forest…” Mychael thought about which way to go but Albatross knew this forest well. The Shockjaw ran forwards and made a left hand turn, then a right, then a left. Mychael tried all his might to make a mental map but the dragon was to fast. After a while the Sun began to rise and the camp came into view.

It then occurred to Mychael that the others might not like having a fierce dragon with the man that they didn’t trust. He had no other choice and dismounted Albatross and they walked to the tents. Scuttles yawned and stretched as he jumped into Albatross’s head. The dragon growled and shook the tiny dragon off easily. He growled as if saying to never do that again. Scuttles ignored the threat and began to climb onto Albatross and then onto his head. The Shockjaw shook Scuttles off again and before the dragon could climb up, Mychael had picked him up and set him on his shoulder.

Eira's sniffles and shivers

Eira's sniffles and shivers had started to settle down as she nestled up against Ambolt, and her scrapes had mostly stopped bleeding; likely due to the mud she'd have to clean out later. The heat in the cave warmed her cheeks and she was grateful for it for more reasons than one. As Eslig began to apologize, Eira drew her knees up to her chin, wrapping her arms around her legs as she hugged them close and listened attentively. Her shoulders shifted slightly in acceptance of his apology, watching him sidelong as a somber mood fell over the cave. She didn't speak up for a moment longer, just sat there and watched him. After that moment past, she twisted around to lay a gentle hand (not the cut one) on Ambolt's scales with a soft smile.

"Yeah, I don't like storms much either. At least, not at sea. They're not so much fun when you are trapped in a cell, either. Especially when the ocean is trying to swallow you whole." She scritched Ambolt a bit, sparing one for Driftwood at his jealous rumbles, then turned back to Eslig, hugging her knees close and tilting her head to look at him in that way again. Another moment passed. "I never asked you before how you got away." Her voice was soft, small. "Or got caught to begin with. Do you remember?" Her eyes, glowing brightly in the dark and dancing with the firelight, looked at him intently, searching.

The end of waiting

After about one hour of searching the dark forest, Rue gave up. She had no idea where Eslig and Eira had gone, neither had she any idea where Mychael was. In addition, she could hear a pack of wolves start howling in the distance.

She had studied wolves for many years and knew that normally, they would not attack a viking. But it had been a harsh winter and the snow had not completely melted yet. It was hard not to starve at this time of the year if you were a wolf. Hunger could turn even the most docile creature into a monster, so Rue was glad that Donni was with her. The Thunderdrum always gave her the feeling that nothing whatsoever could harm her. Orvar was silently snoring in Rue's bag which she carried over her shoulder. She had not wanted to leave him behind in the tent, so she had carefully placed the sleeping Terror in her bag.

Finally, they gave up, returning to the camp. Rue had just installed herself under her blanket, trying to think about what to do next, when she heard footsteps approaching outside. Louder ones like those of a dragon and lower ones like those of viking boots. Rue hurried to get up and looked outside.

Cave conversation

Eslig felt the tension drain out of him as Eira smiled softly, accepting his apology and breaking the solemn mood of the cave. Ambolt blinked sleepily as Eira reached around and laid a hand on the Nadder's scales, rumbling softly to indicate his contentment.

Another quiet moment passed and Eslig shifted slightly against Ambolt, finding a new position so he didn't have to crane his neck as much to look at Eira. The girl had pulled both legs up to her chin and was hugging her knees to herself, a smile ghosting over her face.

"Yeah, I don't like storms much either. They're not so much fun when you are trapped in a cell, either. Especially when the ocean is trying to swallow you whole"

Eslig shuddered inwardly, his face betraying his discomfort at the very thought of being at nature's mercy on a ship. His stomach churned inwardly and he squeezed his eyes shut to force away the vestiges of his overactive imagination. Eira's voice shook him out of his thoughts.

"I never asked you before how you got away, or got caught to begin with. Do you remember?" she prompted quietly.

Eslig took a deep breath, his mind flashing back again to the events of long ago. His eyebrows knit and his face fell into a stony mask, only his eyes betraying the tumult he felt within. Letting out his pent-up breath, he spoke softly.

"I don't remember much about being captured- I was very young at the time, around 5 or 6. I lived with Grandma Hilde on a rocky island, alone except for the occasional wild dragon. Sometimes they helped us, other times the dragons would steal our sheep. One day, I came back to the house and everything was on fire. I was grabbed by Dragon Hunters and forced onto a ship, then into slavery."

Eslig paused again to collect his thoughts, his eyes darting down from Eira's.

"Your hand!" he exclaimed, noticing the cut on Eira's left hand. Without thinking he reached out, palm up, and gently lifted Eira's injured hand to get a better look.

    After standing there for

After standing there for a while Mychael could hear rustling nearby. Out of a tent came a young lady with very fine amber colored hair. She wore a headband (?) with flowers and leaves, making her love for nature very clear. Her skin was peach and her eyes were dark brown. She had on a green top and a necklace made out of something sharp. “H-Hello.” Mychael Said “Hi.” The girl said innocently. Before Mychael could say another word, Albatross walked over to the girl's side and she stroked his head. “I take it you two know each other?” The girl nodded and said “Earthguard and I helped this Shockjaw right before we met you.” The girl seemed like she trusted Mychael now seeing that he was with Albatross “Oh! The Shockjaw’s name is Albatross.” Mychael hated conversations because they always seemed so awkward and he always said the wrong things “That’s a nice name.” Rue Said And Albatross looked up at her in disgust “I mean it’s a very… tough and powerful name.” The dragon walked over to Mychael and sat down, and Mychael walked closer to Rue.

He could almost hear both his and Ruebinese’s hearts pounding “Please trust me” Mychael Said “As you most likely know Albatross trusts few people and you must show you are worthy to him, well Albatross let me ride him showing that he obviously trusts me.” Rue hesitated, not knowing what to say. Albatross saw the nervousness and the doubt in her eye so in order to help his friend, the Shockjaw stood up and lowered his spikes for Mychael. The boy mounted the dragon and said to Rue “Now do you see how much Albatross trusts me?” Ruebinese had many thoughts going through her head, what would the other say? What should I say? I trust him don’t I? Why do I hesitate? Eventually she gave in and said a simple “Yes.

Albatross then stretched his wings and roared. Mychael was about to comfort his dragon but was interrupted by a sudden jolt and before he knew it he was on the back of a running Shockjaw heading for a cliff. “Stop! Albatross you can’t fly yet!” It was as if Albatross couldn’t here Mychael and he instead ran faster and faster.

Eira watched Eslig as he spoke, listening intently as he began to paint a picture of his past, her eyes expressive in her emphathy. But his next action took her wholly by surprise and she jerked back a bit as he took her hand, about to pull it away before she stopped herself. Her cheeks flushed from more than just the warmth in the cave. The edge of the broken skin tracing across her palm had started to pucker and the blood had stopped oozing so profusely, but it was still a freshly opened wound.

"It's just a cut," Eira stated matter-of-factly. "I've gotten plenty back on the island. It'll heal." Driftwood stretched his nose out to sniff at their hands, gurgling his concern and giving his rider a sidelong look. Eira gave them both a rueful half-grin. "It'll probably smart to use my bow for a while..."

Eira flinched slightly as Eslig lifted her hand, palm up, but didn't pull away her hand.

"It's just a cut. It'll heal" she said, then smiled at Drift. "It'll probably smart to use my bow for a while..."

"Yeah" Eslig said, smiling back. He withdrew his hand from Eira's, wondering how the room had suddenly gotten a little warmer. He checked to make sure that Ambolt hand't resumed his magnesium heat- the Nadder hadn't. "Thankfully, we've got our dragons so we're not completely helpless".

He scratched Ambolt, then began rummaging through saddlebags until he found what he was looking for. "Aha!" he exclaimed, pulling out a small bandage. "I've taken to carrying a few of these around with me, since trouble seems to find me for some reason. There." he said, finishing tying off the bandage and watching as Eira flexed her hand experimentally. "How does that feel?"

"Good," Eira said softly, pulling her hand back and flexing it, watching as the cloth moved and tugged on her wound, a much needed distraction from her ever warming face. "I mean.. it's good. Good job. Good idea. It's... good."

She drew her knees in again, cradling her hand as she abruptly turned away to look past Driftwood. "Storm's let up. We should go back to camp. The others are probably worrying."

Mychael look ahead and the cliff was right in front of them, Albatross jumped and spread his wings and flew for a couple seconds and the plummeted. Mychael looked below as he fell and saw a large boulder sticking out of the cliff. The boy pulled Albatross over to it and the Shockjaw landed. The young dragon trainer on the other hand, missed the ledge and could only grip the edge with one of his hands as his body dangled. Albatross imediantlu pulled up his friends and Mychael said “You really got to stop doing that.“ Albatross looked up and realized what he had done and how there was no easy way back up.

"Good" Eira stammered as she flexed her hand experimentally. "I mean... it's good. Good idea. It's... good."

Satisfied that he had, indeed, done a good job, Eslig mentally congratulated himself- nearly missing Eira's next words as she looked outside.

"Storm's let up. We should go back to camp. The others are probably worrying" Eira said resolutely.

Eslig nodded, hurrying to agree. "Yeah, let's." He looked outside, taking a deep breath and inhaling the scent of a fresh rainfall. "I wonder how Rue and Mycahel are doing".

Ambolt helpfully blew out the torch, then followed Drift, Eira, and Eslig out of the cave. The last streaks of daylight still stretched across the sky, and, with the combined light of the moon and stars, bathed the island in a soft glow.

Ambolt, satisfied that the storm had passed, flapped his wings and loosed a fireball into the sky. Eslig smiled at Eira, who was buys mounting Drift, then climbed into the saddle. Both dragons then took off back towards camp.

As the camp came into view, Eslig frowned. "I don't see Rue, Mychael, or Donni. Where could they have gone?"

Eria, atop Driftwood and higher in the sky, called down, pointing. "I see Rue and Donni over there!"

A minute later, Eslig and Eira had joined Rue, who was standing at the edge of a short cliff.

"Oh, hey you two." she said as Eira and Eslig approached. "What was that about?"

Eslig's foot scuffed against the ground as he replied. "Oh, nothing. Ambolt really had to go" he lied, ignoring the look from his Nadder. "Where's Mychael?"

Rue simply pointed over the edge of the cliff, where Mycahel and the Shockjaw from before were apparently stranded. Eslig's head was spinning with questions, but the only one he could muster was, "How?"

Eira and Driftwood had a

Eira and Driftwood had a birdseye view. Even in the dark, the moon gave some illumination, and Eira trusted her dragon's senses over her own, letting him lead the way. It was Driftwood that alerted her to their whereabouts as he rumbled softly and pointed her in the right direction.

"There!" she pointed out to Eslig, and the two flew over to join Rue at the edge of a cliff. What was she doing at the edge of a cliff? As Driftwood circled around, it became apparent. The two swooped in low, circling the trapped Mychael and Shockjaw. Wait.. Shockjaw? Eira couldn't believe her eyes. "Isn't that- How did he get here?"

Rue shrugged, but there was little use for an answer at that moment. Eira took Driftwood into a dive down the side of the cliff and the timberjack seemed to know her plan as he did a graceful aerial twist and swooped back up. As they came alongside the rock ledge Mychael and the shockjaw were trapped on, Driftwood tucked the ends of his wings in and dug his claws into the cliff face, hooking them on securely. Eira held on tight as they came to a sudden, jolting stop against the cliff, hanging suspended over the crashing waves and jutting rocks. She had Gobber design Driftwood's saddle just for this strategy, adding additional stirrups at the back of the saddle where she could secure herself in and stand. With a firm grip, she switched to those now, allowing her to stand parallel to Drift and the cliff.

"I can get Mychael," Eira called up to the two as she held out a hand for the boy, "but I'm not so sure about the shockjaw. Rue? Eslig?"

As the Timberjack landed on

As the Timberjack landed on the ledge Mychael tensed up. Why was she of all people helping me? He thought to himself. "I can get Mychael," Eira called up to the two as she held out a hand for the boy, "but I'm not so sure about the shockjaw. Rue? Eslig?" The young boy hesitated at Eira’s offer She hates me, why is she saving me? Why is she looking at Albatross strangely? Mychael then relized how suspicious not excepting her offer would seem but he also didn’t want to abandon Albatross. “Your-Your dragon has legs right? Can’t he carry Albatross?“ Then Mychael looked down and realized it didn’t and he regretted commenting on it “Anyways... Your Silver Phantom could carry Albatross. Or is it legless too?“ Drift seemed offended by Mychael’s remark so the boy pretended not to notice. By now Albatross had gotten bored of sitting and waiting for help. He didn’t even want help! The Shockjaw then looked up at the land high above him and smirked.

A while later Albatross had scraped up his feet up trying to scale the cliff but it didn’t seem to hurt him. “Albatross... I know you don’t want- I mean need help but maybe just maybe you should let the others...“ Assitst? No, that sounds like Albatross is an old man. Help, no. Aid, no. Avail? Maybe Avail you?“ Albatross grunted And seemed to growl something under his breath. “Or you can stay down here and Scuttles will become my strongest dragon, since you would no longer count, being trapped and all.“ This made the Shockjaw look up imediantly “I thought so.”

Rescue mission

Rue still felt confused. That the Shockjaw was here on this island meant that something must have gone wrong with his rescue mission. Hopefully, Brasa, Gothi and the new girl, Rebecca, with her Typhoomerang were fine...

But despite that his bandages needed to be changed the Shockjaw looked fine - And he had found a new friend. However that had happened. He even let Mychael ride on his back what made Rue`s jaw drop in surprise. When she new one thing about the Shockjaw then it was that he didn't trust vikings easily. Maybe this Mychael was really a kind and honest guy after all. There was no better critic than the former abused Shockjaw. The man had even named him: Albatross...

But there was not much time for Rue to get things sorted in her head because Albatross, as he had done already on Berk, suddenly darted off in order to take to the air. Didn't this dragon ever learn?

"ARE YOU CRAZY?" Neither Rue's nor Mychael's yelling could stop the Shockjaw as he was rapidly approaching the edge of a nearby cliff - Mychael still clinging on to his back. Donni took off after them but the Thunderdrum was too large to gain speed fast enough. As she ran after them, Rue saw Albatross und Mychael drop from the ledge. When Rue breathlessly arrived there she was afraid of what she would see if she looked down. Donni was hovering right over the edge, grumbeling and looking downwards. Taking a deep breath, Rue kneeled down and looked down. Halfway down, there was a boulder sticking out of the cliffside and luckily, Albatross and Mychael had managed to land on it. The Shockjaw was just helping the viking up on the ledge.

A little helpless, Albatross and Mychael looked up to her and relieved to see them alive and well, Rue looked back. Think, think, think... Donni and her could easily carry Mychael but if they did, who knew what foolery the Shockjaw would start. No, they would have to carry both up at the same time. And Rue was sceptical if Donni could carry two vikings and a, probably unmanageable, Shockjaw at the same time. Maybe if Donni only had to carry Albatross and Mychael would somehow climb up a rope or something at the same time, it could work.

"Hold on a second. I'll go and see if any of us has a rope in her bag!" Rue yelled down. The ocean waves were smacking loudly against the rocks below them, so Rue wasn't sure if Albatross and Mychael could hear her.  She got up but then turned around again in order to add: "...And don't do any risky stuff while I'm gone!"

Rue was on her way back to the camp when a pink Nadder and a large Timberjack appeared over the forest. She felt a little angry about her friends having left her alone with Mychael all night. She waved them over.

"Hey you two." she said as the two dragons approached the cliff. "What was that about?"

Leaving most the talking and open questions for later, the friends approached the edge of the cliff. Drift was hanging on the rocky side of the cliff, right next to Mychael and Albatross. The Shockjaw was about to scratch his feet up from unsuccessfully jumping up the steep wall of rock and Mychael tried his best to calm him down.

"I can get Mychael," Eira called up to the two as she held out a hand for the boy, "but I'm not so sure about the shockjaw. Rue? Eslig?"

"Donni could carry Albatross on his back I think. But only if Ambolt could grab him with his feet at the same time in order to secure him from fidgeting too much or doing any other crazy stuff." Rue looked at Eslig who was standing at her right side. Her friend looked confused. "Ah uhm... Albatross is the Shockjaw's name by the way." Rue added with a smile.

((Has Mychael been rescued or is he still on the short outcropping with Albatross?))

((And how far down is Albatross?))

Eslig watched in amazement as Eira and Drift seamlessly worked together, with Drift clinging to the side of the cliff face and Eira standing tall in her special saddle. Rue looked a little steamed at having been abandonded by Eslig and EIra earlier, but now was not the time for that discussion.

"Donni could carry Albatross on his back, I think" Rue said, beginning to outline a plan. "But only if Ambolt could grab him with his feet at the same time in order to secure him from fidgeting too much or doing any other crazy stuff".

Eslig's brow knit in confusion. Did the boy have a nickname that he hand't heard of before?

"Albatross is the Shockjaw's name, by the way" Rue explained, but Eslig's brow remained furrowed.

"I'm not exactly sure what you're planning" he said, brain racing as he tried to visualize the rescue operation. "You want Albatross to ride on Donni, while Ambolt carries Albatross from above?"

Eslig peered carefully over the cliffside, down to where Albatross was stranded. There's got to be a another way... he thought, looking back at Ambolt's tail and then down towards Albatross. Maybe...

"Ambolt, over here!" Eslig called, and his Nadder moved forward obligingly. Eslig turned to his friends. "If Ambolt dangled his tail down, do you think it would reach? Albatross could use it to pull himself up".

As he spoke the words, his confidence in the plan sank as he realized how dumb it sounded. "Just an idea..."

Mychael then had an idea “Does anyone here have a Whispering Death? I remember some back when I was a hunter being forced to-“ He stopped himself and bit his lip. Idiot. They’re beginning to trust you and you decide to mention dragons being forced against there will? WHY? The boy thought to himself. Scuttles awoke, yawned and climbed out of Mychael’s cape. The Terrible Terror looked down and was startled to see how high up they were. Trying to comfort his dragon, Mychael held him close though it didn’t help. Not knowing what else to do he handed Scuttles up to the girl on the Timberjack “Please hold Scuttles until he calms down, I think being near a large dragon will comfort him.“ Albatross glared at Drift. Hwas a big dragon too how did Scuttles not find him comforting? Mychael glances back at Albatross who seemed to be growling under his breath.

@Eslig, he hasn't been rescued yet :P))

Eira scrunched up her nose as Mychael handed her Scuttles. "He's a Timberjack," she stated matter-of-factly, as if that was all the explanation that was needed. Driftwood, still puffed up from the offense, cooed reassuringly to Scuttles while similtaneously ignoring the growling Albatross. After some comforting pats, Eira tucked the Terrible Terror safely away, then turned back to Mychael. "Do you see any Whispering Deaths with us? No. Now you. Take my hand and climb onto Drift before I change my mind." Then she called back up to the top, "Whatever you plan on doing, do it soon. Don't think this shock- er, Albatross, is going to like being down here much longer." She looked to the dragon in question, trying to give him a reassuring smile and dragon coo of her own, hand still held out for Mychael.

Mychael looked between

Mychael looked between Albatross and the young girl. He didn’t want to leave his new friend, but he knew he had to. With his arm outstretched he felt his weight shift as both him and Eira held each other’s wrists and she pulled him up. He tried to swing his legs onto the drahon but missed. As he fell Eira grabbed him by the arm and helped him back up. “My sincerest apologies.“ Mychael said to the girl “Also, I know I don’t deserve your trust but please don’t get mad at me. You see in less than a day I have awoke with no memories, learned I was a hunter, met a group of people with dozens of dragons, almost died twice, met a killer dragon, bonded with it, and almost fell off a cliff. So, sorry if I forget that you don’t have a Whispering Death.“ He didn’t mean it in a rude way, he just felt like it was unfair that when he made a simple mistake everyone got mad at him. Why is she looking at me that way? Why do I feel this way about her... no, I can’t let my personal feelings get in the way of my life. Scuttles jumped onto Mychael’s shoulder and perched on it.

Albatross looked up at them and sighed ((Wait... can a dragon sigh?)) Mychael then said “I am guessing I have a lot of explaining to do don’t I? And don’t worry I’ll awnser any questions I can about Albatross and my past, but first can we make a plan to get him up?”

((Sorry, my IPad can’t load Discord so I have to use the computer. My brother is taking AP human geography and needs the computer a lot so I rarely get to check. I will most likely get on Discord either in a couple of minutes or tomorrow when I get back from school. Also, I assumed that when I Controled your character for that tiny bit it would be fine. If you aren’t though, tell me and I will change it.))

Eira hissed in pain as she

Eira hissed in pain as she grabbed at his arm and hauled him up, trying to ignore the throbbing in her injured hand. She gritted past the pain and tried to help Mychael back up onto Driftwood, finally getting him settled in the saddle in front of her, since she was currently occupying the back and with their vertical position, there was no other way for Mychael to stay remaining on Driftwood's back without a little assistance. She directed him to stand on her dragon's shoulders for now while she strapped him in. "No one is mad," she stated evenly, eyeing him oddly with her two different colored eyes, the golden one gleaming like a wolf's in the dark, "But it is obvious to the eyes that there is no Whispering Death with us. And yes, you do. A lot of explaining. But not now. We're not going to leave your dragon here. Wait... when did you almost died twice?"

Without waiting for an answer, she switched her position, strapping herself in behind Mychael, legs folded up on Drift's back and secured in the special stirrups, and gave a tap to her dragon. In Mychael's ear, she said, "Hold on tight." At the signal, Driftwood retracted his hooks, and suddenly they were in a freefall backwards. In mid-fall, Driftwood twisted his body, extended his massive wings, and caught an updraft. With a sudden jolt, they were airborn and zooming back up to the top of the cliff. Eira couldn't help but let out a whoop at the exhileration, despite the dire situation.

((No worries, piggy! Just making sure. Did you mention that before? If you did, I must've forgotten and apologize!))

Yes?

((Stick figures is where I'm at in terms of artistic talent, too. No worries! And yes, I believe that is the correct otientation of humans on Drift- Eira is the lower one (red) and Mycahel is the blue))

    “Wait, where am I

“Wait, where am I supposed to hold onto?” Mychael asked as he rubbed his ear that Eira and yelled into. Before she could answer, Drift released his grip on the cliff and they plummeted. The young boy hung onto Driftwood’s horns tightly as they fell through the air. With a sudden jolt, the Timberjack turned and shot upwards into the sky. Scuttles clung to Mychael in fear and closed his eyes and his friend held him with one hand while the other remained on the horn. Then the giant dragon landed abruptly causing Mychael to be thrown over Drift’s head and he dangled upside down under the dragon’s neck. The boy tried to undo the straps but he couldn’t reach it. “Could I have a little help?” He asked looking up at Eira (or to him it was looking down) Scuttles smiled at Mychael and playfully clawed at the straps. “Scuttles, maybe you should let Eira-“ Before he could finish, he fell to the ground and landed on his back.

“Now, before I give answers we need to make a plan. Let me get this straight you have a Terrible Terror, Timberjack, Deadly Nadder, and a Thunderdrum. Right?” The boy asked and turned to the group and all of their massive dragons. He realized he was the center of attention and hated the feeling. Mychael felt like he wanted to hide, but he knew he couldn’t.

The easiest plan

"I'm not exactly sure what you're planning" Eslig said, still a sceptical frown on his front. "You want Albatross to ride on Donni, while Ambolt carries Albatross from above?"

"Exactly! Like this..." Rue tried to indicate what she had in mind with her hands which kind of failed because she only had two hands. "It's the easiest plan so far!," she tried to persuade Eslig who still looked at her as if he had a different definition of "easy".

"Sure, the Shockjaw won't be happy about it but we have to do something..."

"If Ambolt dangled his tail down, do you think it would reach? Albatross could use it to pull himself up"

Rue shook her head. "No, I'm sure he won't reach. Albatross and Mychael are at least some feet too far down. But do you have a strong rope maybe? - If that would hold a fully grown Shockjaw... I'm still in favor for my plan to be honest."

Meanwhile, Eira had pulled Mychael onto Driftwood's back and they swooped first up in the sky before landing more or less softly next to Eslig and Rue. As Rubinesse had expected, Albatross was getting more frustrated with every second that he was alone down on the ledge. They would have to come up with a plan fast before he scratched up his legs on the rocky wall.

When Mychael had gotten back on his feet, he spoke up:

Now, before I give answers we need to make a plan. Let me get this straight you have a Terrible Terror, Timberjack, Deadly Nadder, and a Thunderdrum. Right?

As if on cue, Orvar stuck his head out of one of Donni's saddle bags and gave a big smile towards Eira.

"Yes. Our other dragons are back at Berk which is too far from here so that they could come and help."
