Day... Nine hundred... um... never mind. the Shockjaw thought to himself as he walked around the small pound. The cold winter breeze filled the air and snow was on the ground. CRUNCH CRUNCH CRUNCH. The Snow came as the dragon stepped upon it. I need to get out of here. He thought angrily. It was about three years ago since he had been shot. He would have left long before now if it Hadn’t been for one of the Viking contraptions trapping his wings. Idiotic Vikings. Don’t they know who I am? The Shockjaw began pacing around looking for something sharp. This was how his day always went, thinking to himself, then looking for something to cut the ropes and then finally Train. The Shockjaw had been doing this for three years and he still didn’t loose faith. He had tried before to use his teeth to cut the rope, but he couldn’t reach. He had tried flying with them on, but he just ended up hurting himself. Nothing the Shockjaw tried worked, nothing was sharp enough to cut the rope, he was stuck. He closed his eyes try to listen for animals. CRUNCH! The Shockjaw opened his eyes and pounced at where the sound came from. He looked to see what he cought, But was saddened at the sight. Stupid Rabit! The dragon picked up his wimpy prey and tossed it into the freezing pound.

Checking the posters

((Yey, welcome to the RP, Piggyxl! :-) I like your first post! :-) The only thing is that we didn't make our dragons speak or think in words so far, we rather described their behavior. But something like this works fine:

The green Nadder growled low. This was his viking these wild Changewings were messing with. And noone, besides him of course, was allowed to mess with his rider! He spread his wings and launched down towards the group of dragons.

I know, it might not be easy to have Albatross wandering around on his own at the moment and not making him think in words, but maybe you can use this indirect thinking in your next posts. I'm looking forward to read more about Albatross, Michael and Scuttles! :-) ))

"Everything's fine! Why wouldn't it be? We're meeting like we planned to, right?"

Rue tried half of a smile but failed. Eira didn't quite sound like her usual self, something felt wrong. But finally, still with a big frown, Rue reluctantly accepted that, with Eslig and Eira both insisting that everything was fine, there was nothing she could do right now.

So, Donni took off after Drift and Ambolt, a little more cumbersome than usual. Rue gently petted his head. The Thunderdrum was a large dragon with lots of power but, behind his thick skin, he was actually quite sensitive  and could feel when Rue or her friends were upset or sad. "I will keep an eye on them." she murmured into his right ear, hoping that he could understand her despite his bad hearing. "If something was wrong concerning the clan, I'm sure they would have told me. So, maybe it's something private that they just don't want to share with me." Suddenly, Rue sat up straight. Eslig and Eira...? Nahhh, no way! Rue giggeled a little about the crazy ideas that her fantasy created.

Donni had caught up on Ambolt now while Driftwood and Eira were falling behind and silently they dived down towards the first poster that was fixed on a wooden board next to Berk's market place.

"Noone who signed up" Rue noted, a bit disappointed. "But hey, we just hang them up yesterday in the afternoon. Maybe people need some more time to find them."

They continued their tour around Berk and then over to the School, checking the posters and fixing those again that had been partly unpinned by the wind. When they arrived at the poster that was hanging on the wall of the main school building, Rue noticed fine writing on the low side of the poster. "Look, someone wrote that they're interested in joining! ...Hm, but we haven't enough information yet, so we will have to wait for his or her mail in order to get in touch. How should we do this? I know, we've been thinking about starting our first trip to Eira's island in a few days... Maybe Redvark can bring us the letter in case it arrives while we are away! He's very intelligent and I trust him to understand what to do and to find us on Eira's island," Rue suggested.

((I thought this viking who signed up could be Jackalope if she wants that. Otherwise it is a possibility for somebody else to jump into the RP easily or it could just be someone who lost interest in joining and never actually shows up. But I wanted to speed things up a little so we can get on our trip and find Michael.))

The Shockjaw growled furious that he cought a small rabbit. Still hungry he dove into the pond and swam to the deepest part looking for his next meal. The cold water made his scales numb but since he had been doing this everyday he didn’t mind it. As the dragon swam close to fish they darted away knowing he would eat them. Then the dragon’s gaze focused on a school of Brown Trout. Slowly and quietly he approached them and grinned seeing they didn’t notice him. Then as they turned around to face the Tidal Class dragon he pounced and grabbed five of them in his mouth. His sharp teeth dug into their thin skin and trail of blood fallowed him. SPLASH! The Shockjaw jumped out of the water and onto a rock next to the pond. He set down his dead prey who were covered in blood and one by one ate them. The dragon then looked up wondering when he would be able to escape, his wings were trapped by the Viking contraption and the walls were to high to climb out. Someday. He thought to himself. Someday...

Map for the day

((You're doing fine, piggy! It is tough RPing with a dragon, but you've done well. I'm trying to move things ahead so we can find your character in a few posts.

Question for you: When we're discussing posts out of character, how would you like to be addressed: piggyxl, piggy, Michael, or something else?))

Eslig dug his knee into Ambolt once again, checking the Nadder as it tried to fall back in the formation- closer to Driftwood and Eira. The last thing Eslig wanted to do was interact with Eira after his planned flight had flopped so spectacularly.

Thankfully, the flight to Berk was made without incident and soon Eslig's troubles were momentarily forgotten as Rue examined each poster in and around the School. Thet were rewarded with writing on one of the posters- Eslig couldn't read well, but fortunately Rue could.

Just as Rue suggested using Redvark as a messenger, Gobber thumped up and waved his good hand in a greeting. " 'Ello, Earthguard!" he bellowed, a smile lighting up his face. "Yer just the vikings I wanted to find. Before Hiccup left, he and his friends were working on clearing dragon traps on the surrounding islands. But since Hiccup isn't here, Stoick thinks that you lot would be great for the job. What do yeh say?" Gobber asked, his gab-toothed grin returning.

Eslig shared a glance with his friends, the awkwardness between him and Eira vanishing for the moment. Without speaking, they came to a swift consensus. Eslig turned to Gobber.

"We'll do it."

Gobber's smile widened. "Great! I knew we could count on yeh. Here's a map of all the ones we remember, but be on the lookout for any new traps. Those Dragon Hunters have been busy."

Armed with a map of a nearby island, Eslig checked Ambolt's saddlebags, noting that his clanamtes were doing the same. Like all vikings, they believed in being prepared for anything. Because dragon riders often had little time to prepare for missions to the field, they all had a basic camp kit that would suffice for a few days alone in the wilderness, including a bedroll and basic cooking instruments, as well as a few tools and a length of rope. These kits allowed dragon riders a high degree of independence and flexibility, a fact that Eslig was grateful for as the Freya wouldn't be seaworthy for a couple weeks.

After double-checking that his wildnerness kit was fully stocked, Eslig snuck a glance in Eira's direction. He noticed that her braids had come loose- or perhaps she had taken them out- and her hair had returned to it's normally messy state. Eslig liked the way the breeze played with Eria's untamed hair, quickly averting his gaze down and away as she turned back from checking her own saddlebags. Eslig's face reddened despite himself, realizing that he'd been staring.

As they moved from poster to

As they moved from poster to poster, Eira remained mostly quiet and distant from the other two. But as Gobber approached them with his request, all thoughts of her embarrassment and awkwardness was forgotten as she focused on the task at hand. There were dragons in danger and at risk, and they had to help them. Eira exchanged a look with her clanmates, firm determination settling on her face. There was no question whether they would do it or not. The answer was clear.

"Of course we will," Eira echoed after Eslig, then swiftly returned to Driftwood's side, checking through her saddlebags and gear. She always carried on her a basic survival kit, but she hadn't thought to bring her bow with her on a.... On a what? A regular friendly flight? A sigh involuntarily escaped her and again she felt the pang of her muttonheaded foolishness. She wasn't even properly dressed for a possible extended camp out! Why did she feel the need to try to dress nicely... why?! At least she had a few of her daggers in her saddlebags. That was something, at least. And at least her current attire would keep her warm. As she checked over her gear, disturbing a napping Orvar in the process, Eira felt the distinct weight of eyes on her. Eslig was just looking away as she glanced over. Was he looking at her? Or had she imagined that? It was all in her head. It had to be. Just like the imagined morning flight she was to have with him.

Eira turned back to her saddlebags, staring at them for a moment. Why was she even thinking of him looking at her anyway? Why should she care? She shouldn't... there was just no logic to it. Unbidden, heat rushed to her cheeks and she angrily dashed it away as she swung back up onto Driftwood, turning more fiercely than perhaps was needed to her clanmates. Good, she could use that, redirect her tumultuous emotions into her aggression on the dragon hunters and their vile contraptions. "Let's go, Earthguardians!"

Driftwood needed no further prompting, shoving off and swooping into an updraft that carried him higher above the school as they banked around to head off over the ocean. Eira slowed Driftwood down as she looked back to her clanmates, waiting for the two to take flight and come up alongside her. She looked to Eslig for their course, her awkwardness conquered by her fierce determination.

Change of course

((Slight change of plans, friends- I've been misinterpreting where exactly we'll find Albatross))

Eslig watched as Driftwood took off into the sky, smiling slightly at Rue with an 'after you' gesture. Donni smiled as only a Thunderdrum can as Rue coaxed him up into the air.

Eslig joined his friends in the sky, falling naturally into a formation with Driftwood and Eira in the lead. Eslig wondered briefly why his clanmates were looking at him expectantly, when he remembered that the map he carried determined their course. Embarassment coloring his face, Eslig reached for the map, which was stored in a pouch on the saddle in front of him.

As he opened the map, Eslig did his best to steady it against the wind rushing around them. A sudden draft ripped the map out of his hands, plastering it against his face. Eslig flailed his arms like he was running away from a Screaming Death, trying to free his face of the entrapping parchment. He succeeded, and the map swooped off behind them, carried by the ever-changing winds down towards Berk.

His face reddening further, Eslig avoided looking at Eira and instead settled on Rue. A half smile touched her face.

"Eslig... the map?"

"Ah... yes, the map..." Eslig said, searching in the now-empty pouch. Realization hit him a second later. "THE MAP!"

Eslig could swear he heard Rue's chuckles as Earthguard turned around and dove down towards the Berkian wilderness, in pursuit of the falling map.

((Wait it was! Ugh now I feel so stupid for not realizing!))

As the Shockjaw walked in circles he heard wing beats, lots of wingbeats. The sound of dragons flying reminded him of freedom, something he didn’t have. What is these dragons could help him? What is these dragons could make him free? Quickly he devised a plan and put it into action. As soon as he saw the first dragon fly over head he roared to act like he was in pain. He squinted up to see lots of dragons diving after a weird paper thing. THUD! The pink and white dragon slammed into the Tidal Class dragon and both slid across the grass. The Shockjaw slowly stood up and realized each of these dragons had a human on them. These were dragon hunters that used dragons to hurt other dragons. The Shockjaw knew he couldn’t fight them with his wings tied up so he stumbled over to the rider with red hair and fell to the ground.

Eira couldn't help but laugh

Eira couldn't help but laugh a little at Eslig as well, not because she was making fun of him but because she found it adorable. Wait- what? Before she could further question that stray thought, the immediate dire situsitua dawned on her as Eslig and Ambolt dove after the map.

"Drift!" Her timberjack responded immediately, looping around and chasing after the two and the runaway map, Rue and Donnie hot on their trail. The three flew from the school to Berk in their pursuit, the village slipping by beneath them. As they flew over Berk's wilderness, Driftwood jerked his head up, searching the treetops beneath them frantically. Eira frowned worriedly, leaning forward over his neck. "Driftwood? What's the matter?" She searched the treetops as well, sensing her dragon's unease. Then it came to her, faint and drifting on the wind, but she was sure she heard right. A dragon in distress? "Is that-"

Before Eira could voice her suspicions, Ambolt took a sudden nose dive. In their frantic pursuit of the map, the two flew too fast, heedless of their surroundings, and pulling further and further away from them. They were going down too fast, they wouldn't be able to stop in time! Without a word, Eira conveyed to Driftwood what needed to be done. The Timberjack dove, folding his wings in around himself as he dropped like a rock, gaining incredible speed as they gained on Ambolt. It was all Eira could do just to hold on. She had never seen him fly like that before! It was both exhilerating and terrifying at the same time, like their first flight together.

Eira squinted her watering eyes against the stinging wind as Driftwood zipped past tree after tree, feeling like her skin was going to rip off her face. "Driiiiift!" She clung on until an opening came into view. A small hollow with a pond, high walls, and... a dragon?? Just as they were catching up to them, Eslig and Ambolt crashed right into the shockjaw. Eira closed her eyes, waiting for their own demise as the ground rushed up to meet them all too quickly, but at the last second Driftwood unfurled his wings, jolting them to a sudden halt as they came to a not so gentle hover above the ground. Unprepared for the sudden stop, Eira lost her grip and fell the rest of the way to the ground with a yelp. She picked herself up, stumbling in a daze, and caught sight of Ambolt and the shockjaw collapsed on the other side. She ran over to them, skidding to a halt halfway there as she caught sight of the nets entangling the shockjaw's wings. Holding out her hands in a non-hostile fashion, she slowly crept forward a few more steps, keeping her distance. "Easy, boy... I think he's hurt. We have to help him. Eslig?" Though she kept her focus on the shockjaw, her eyes darted towards Ambolt, searching frantically for any sign of Eslig and his current state.

Not far from where they landed, the offending map finally floated down and snagged on a bush.

The rider with wild hair approached the Shockjaw slowly with her hand outstretched. She untied the ropes and his wings where free. The Tidal Class dragon crept towards her beginning to trust her when he recognized the Pink and White Dragon. Started he jumped back and growled softly at the Viking. That, that Dragon, she, she was a hunter’s.... long... long... long ago.... The Feirce dragon growled louder keeping one eye on the red haired girl and one on the Deadly Nadder.

Donnis first clan adventure begins

Rue quickly checked Donni's saddlebags when she saw Eslig and Eira do the same, just to be sure. But she already had packed everything she needed. Earthguard had started so many times into spontanous trips and adventures that Rue never left home unprepared again. There were even some bandages, healing herbs and ointments in the right saddlebad, although she always hoped that they would not be needed this time.

"Looks like I'll take you to your first big adventure with us sooner than I expected," she smiled at her dragon. A huge smile spread over the Titan's face and he exchanged a happy look with Eslig while Rue got into the saddle and signaled him to start.

They were just flying in formation, heading west towards the next islands, when Eslig got into trouble with the map that Gobber had given to them. Rue could not help but laugh when the paper smacked Eslig straight in the face. Moments later, the map freed itself from Eslig, or Eslig freed himself respectively, and the map slowly sailed downwards, carried by a gust of wind. Not before exchanging amused looks, they all turned around.

Rue gave Donni the signal to dive after the paper but had to realize that the big Thunderdrum wasn't as agile as Winnie or Gothic were. She even had to slow him down and manouver him through the tree tops that they were almost crashing into because of her action. "Sorry!" Rue gave her dragon a gentle tap and they returned to their place behind Ambolt and Drift, still in pursuit of the map.

There was some noise in the forest below them. Rue wasn't sure if she had heard right but apparently she had because Ambolt started diving downwards like a rocket, followed by Driftwood. Rue had never seen both dragons fly that fast! What were they doing? But she and Donni had just learned their lesson and fast, but not out-of-control, they followed them down towards Berk's forest. They wouldn't have been able to catch up on them anyway...

"Guys, slow down! You're coming in too fast!" Rue screemed after them but the wind carried away her voice. Carefully, Donni swung through the high spruce trees and avoided the branches that Drift had cut accidentally by rushing through. They reached a little pond that Rue recognized. Eslig and Ambolt had crashlanded... into a wild Shockjaw like it seemed! Eira was just getting up from the ground and had started to approach the dragon. His wings were trapped by strong ropes.

"Easy, boy... I think he's hurt. We have to help him. Eslig?"

Rue jumped off Donni and slowly went over to them. "His wings look scratched by the ropes, as if he had been wearing them for a long time." she noted when Eira had managed to get close enough to free the dragon. A deep growl told them that the Shockjaw was thankful but didn't trust this group of strange vikings completely yet. Then, he stopped in his tracks and stared at Ambolt as the Nadder got on his feet.

"Wait, I might have some dragon nip, that should calm him down." Rue went back and started searching her saddlebags.

A new Viking pulled out from

A new Viking pulled out from a bag some weird green things. Thinking it was poisonous the Shock jaw growled now facing towards her. She slowly approached the dragon and used the Dragon Nip. It took a few seconds but the Shockjaw finally calmed down. He still didn’t trust these Vikings but at least he wasn’t attacking them. The Shockjaw turned his gaze to Manolt and circled her making sure it was the dragon from his past. Pink scales, white underbelly, green spikes. It was him. Not knowing how to react to this he walked over to the pond and looked into the water. Fish swam away seeing him and the dragon stared at his reflection.

The Shockjaw squinted not believing it at first and stared at a scar on his left shoulder of his wing. When the Nadder crashe dinto him one of his spines had cut him. Thinking fast he dipped it into the water hoping it would heal, but heal it would not. Sadly he took it out of the water and stretched his wings hoping he could still fly. Three years. He thought Three years since he had flown. With a determined look on his face and took off, flying straight up took a lot of energy but he had to in order to be free. He had almost reached the exit when his injured wing couldn’t take it anymore and he fell.

Down, down, down he fell, he roared in distress and tried to fly but instead he started spinning. As he was about to hit the ground and knew he would have to let the humans help him. CRASH! The Shockjaw hit the ground with great force, as he stood up he was dizzy and lightheaded. He walked towards the Vikings but fell. Everything became blurry for him and started spinning. He tried to snap out of it but instead he became unconscious.

Crash and burn

Eslig groaned and did a quick self-check for injuries. Thankfully, aside form the usual cuts and bruises, he was still in one piece. The crash replayed itself in his head as Eslig hauled himself into a sitting position.

Ambolt had gone into a dive, plummeting down through the sky after the map. Drift and Eira had been with them, keeping pace. Normally, Eslig would've reined Ambolt in, but it felt good to be able to fly again- even at dangerous speeds. They had almost caught up to the map, which was swirling down towards a crater with a pond in it. Both Ambolt and Eslig had been so intent on the map that they didn't see the Shockjaw until it was too late. Ambolt had done his very best to stop, but the result had been a collision with the Shockjaw that sent Eslig sprawling and both dragons to the ground.

A quick glance over towards Ambolt told Eslig that his dragon seemed no worse for the wear, as the Nadder was already on its feet again. His immediate concern for Ambolt was replaced with a growing sense of unease as the Shockjaw stumbled towards him. The dragon was bleeding from a cut on its shoulder, and its wings were restricted with rope. Worse still, Ambolt was growling menacingly at the Shockjaw and had flared out his green spines. Whoever this dragon was, Ambolt clearly didn't trust it. A memory stirred- something about the Shockjaw in front of him- and Eslig realized that this situation was a lot more dangerous than he'd thought.

Eslig began to scramble away, finding cover behind a large boulder. He heard the sounds of Timberjack wings, grateful that he wouldn't have to face this potentially dangerous dragon alone. As Eira dismounted, realization hit Eslig like a thunderbolt. He crawled on his hands and knees around the side of the boulder, trying to get Eira's attention without alerting the Shockjaw.

"Eira!" he hissed, his voice low and urgent. "Back away, slowly." But Eira was already cutting the ropes that held the Shockjaw's wings, and Eslig suddenly feared for Eira's wellbeing. He'd seen that dragon fight before.

At that moment, Rue arrived and whipped out some Dragon Nip. The herb seemed to calm the Shockjaw slightly and it began to wash its injured shoulder in the pond, before stretching its wings in a bid for the freedom of the skies.

Eslig stood slowly and walked over to where his clanmates were, all the time watching the Shockjaw's progress. Ambolt stood protectively behind him, his spines still splayed but not as much as before. The Shockjaw nearly made it to the edge of the crater when its left wing gave way. The dragon spiraled down uncontrollably and crashed into the ground. Amazingly, it popped up almost immediately before flopping down again in a cloud of dust.

The dust cleared and Earthguard was presented with a whole new problem- an unconscious wild dragon in need of medical care. Rue had already started forward with her herbs and bandages, leaving Eira and Eslig standing together on the opposite side of the crater.

Eira had slowly approached

Eira had slowly approached the shockjaw until she could reach the ropes. Her hands moved swiftly but gently as she untangled the net, but some sections were too knotted to untie quickly. She slipped one of her dragon spine daggers out and cut the uncooperative parts, then slowly backed away, quickly slipping the dagger away and tucking her arm's behind herself, making her appear smaller and less threatening. Just then, she heard Eslig's words, whipping her head around in immediate relief at the sound of his voice. But too late, the shockjaw snarled and became aggressive, Ambolt returning the sentiment. Before she knew it, a great rustling of wings rushed above her as Driftwood dropped, pouncing on top of her and wrapping himself around her, encasing her protectively in his wings. As Eira ducked, she instantly dropped into a readied crouch, drawing a dragon spine dagger again. And again she mentally berated herself for not bringing her bow or dressing in more durable attire. Outside, she could hear Driftwood hiss and snarl at the shockjaw, the shadow of his head snaking around low to snap defensively towards him. Memories flooded her and in that moment, she was thankful Haelstrom wasn't with them. Her Woolly Howl friend would rip into the poor shockjaw without a second thought.

There were more sounds without and something crashed. Driftwood eased up his tight grasp enough for Eira to peek her head out from between his wings, watching as Rue approached the downed shockjaw carefully with her healing herbs, noticing then the sound on the dragon's shoulder. Just like Hael's... She grimaced at the thought, knowing how hard it was for Haelstrom to cope without the freedom of flight. "Is... is he going to be alright?" Eira slowly made her away out of Drifts cocoon, the timberjack remaining on high alert and standing protectively around her.

((Haha, yah I do the same thing, helps me to reference e and remember what exactly happened or was said.

@Rue I was actually having it be like Driftwood wrapped his wings around his body and dropped like a missle, kind of like a dive bomb or like this: https://goo.gl/images/jrwHmx except, ya know, Timberjack instead of a Skrill :P. It's kinda been my head Canon that they can do that because it makes a lot of sense, plus I remember reading somewhere one of the makers saying they can do that. Plus, in the game, even though Timberjack aren't that fast, when I fly around and dive down from really high up, I pick up a LOT of speed. So it seems logical that they can get really fast like that, being all aerodynamic and light and narrow. Though this is the first time Driftwood ever tried that manuever so it's very likely that the tip of his wings slipped out a little and nicked some trees, or even when he unfolded them to stop himself. Though it's my own head Canon that it's the back wing tips that are sharp and not the front edge. But anyway :P

also I think it's funny that it's a common belief that splaying your arms out is nonthreatening to animals when it's actually the complete opposite. To animals that says you're trying to make yourself appear bigger and more ththreatening. Also as having their claws and talons out and accessible to defnd themselves is also a threatening posture to deter attackers. When it's having your arms tucked away and appearing smaller that makes them feel lless threatened.))

Problem solving

Eslig took a couple deep breaths, trying to steady his racing heart. Ambolt wasn't much help, still looking flustered by the series of events. Surprisingly, it was Eira's voice that did the trick.

"Is... is he going to be alright?" she asked, emerging from Driftwood's protective wings. Eslig took one more deep breath before replying.

"I hope so. It's never fun seeing a dragon in pain." Even if that dragon tried to eat you last time you saw it he added silently.

Marveling at Rue's courage as she tended to the unconscious Shockjaw, Eslig slowly began walking over towards Rue and the Shockjaw. Ambolt had finally calmed down but stayed on the other side of the crater, refusing to go any closer. As he drew closer, Eslig could see a neat bandage over the Shockjaw's wound.

Rue looked up as Eslig and Eira approached. "I've done what I can, but my supplies are limited and I'm nearly out of dragon nip. Can one of you fetch Gothi or Lady Brasa?"

Eslig spoke without thinking. "I'll go" he said, reddening slightly upon realizing that he and Eira had spoken simultaneously.

"I mean-"

"It's ok, you-"

"I don't have to-"

"You go, I'll-"

"Why don't BOTH of you go? Just be sure to talk one at a time when you explain the situation to Lady Brasa" Rue said, a wry smile on her face.

Not enough intuition this time

((I do that as well but I didn't know about the "clone tab" option. That's easier than copying the link and pasting it into a new tab manually as I usually do :-)

Do we know already where we will find Michael?

And is there something special you are planning right now, Eslig? I would not feel comfortable controlling Brasa's charakter in a large way as it probably would be the case if we make her come to help out with Albatross' rescue. But whatever you have in mind, it's fine, I'll just continue into the blue :-)

Piggyxl: I controlled Albatross a little here. If you feel like he would behave differently, just rewrite the scene. If you feel uncomfortable with this, I can even change my post :-) ))

With concern Rue witnessed the Shockjaw using his newfound freedom but struggeling with his wounded wing. She winced when the poor thing came crashing down and then collapsed unconsciuously. Oblivious of Eslig's hesitation, Rue ran over and started to tend to the Shockjaw's wounds while he was laying still. While she examined his scales, a shadow went over her face. "He has some old scars. And they don't look like he got them by just random fights with other wild dragons."

Rue fixed a bandage over the wound which had caused him to crash. It would do for the moment but not for very long... When she heard Eslig and Eira coming up behind her, she turned to them: "I've done what I can, but my supplies are limited and I'm nearly out of dragon nip. Can one of you fetch Gothi or Lady Brasa?"

"I'll go"

For a moment, Rue watched Eslig and Eira and waited if they would find a solution by themselves. Those two... recently...

A wry smile on her face, she suggested: "Why don't BOTH of you go? Just be sure to talk one at a time when you explain the situation to Lady Brasa"

Before Eslig could speak out the concern that Rue could see in his expression, she added: "We'll be fine. Donni and me can handle this just fine until you come back."

Rue waved when Ambolt and Drift took off but then quickly returned to the Shockjaw's wounds. While she was searching Donni's saddlebags for some more dragon nip (which wasn't there, she had run out on it), a groan behind her indicated that her patient was waking up.

The Shockjaw, still dizzy from his crash and therefore confused and even more distrustful than before, tried getting on his feet and snarled at the viking and the big Titan dragon in front of him.

"Eeeaasy, boy. It's me, remember? Who gave you this delicious dragon nip?"

Rue felt secure enough to approach him but her soothing words didn't work like expected. With a menacing growl the Shockjaw backed off, pushing Rue hard away from him. This was enough for Donni to lose his calmth. The Thunderdrum spread his many spikes and took a menacing pose between the Shockjaw and his rider.

"Donni, don't! Oh Thor..."

The Shockjaw roared seeing the Thunderdrum was going to Attack. The dragon lunged at the Titan and tackled it down. Purple light came from within the dragon and he shot an electric bolt at the larger dragon. Furious the Thunderdrum charged a blast “Don’t!” The rider yelled and the dragon stopped. Using the opertunity the Shockjaw Shot another blast at the huge dragon. “PLEASE STOP!” The words echoed in the Shockjaw’s mind. Fearful words that the last time he hears was three years ago. Stunned he stopped and growled before jumping off the larger dragon and glaring at it. “We’re not going to hurt you. Believe us. Please.” Th girl said and slowly approached the Shockjaw. He still didn’t trust them but finally he growled but sat down and glared at the Thunderdrum watching.

Eira slowly approached Rue

Eira slowly approached Rue and the shockjaw, looking the dragon over closely. She knew it from pictures and classes, but she'd never seen one up close before. Her eyes wandered over its scars and she winced again. Just like Hael... I wonder... She started to reach out a hand to him when Rue spoke up and she volunteered immediately... along with Eslig. At. The same. Time.

A flush overwhelmed her cheeks and she grew more flustered as Rue suggested they both go. Together? Alone? With him?! "No!" Eira blurted out immediately without even thinking. "I-I mean.... if you think you'll be safe by yourself..." When Rue assured them she would be, Eira quickly hopped on Driftwood and took off, fidgeting with her saddle as she could hear and feel Ambolt rise up beside them.

Although Eslig had long gotten used to the feeling of riding on Ambolt, his stomach would not stop churning. Eslig tried to focus on the task at hand- find Gothi, Brasa, or both, then return to Rue and the injured Shockjaw, but he kept getting distracted by the confusing feelings swirling around inside him. Eslig was the first to admit that he wore his heart on his sleeve, but first he had to know what exactly his heart was telling him.

Those thoughts led him to Eira, the very viking he couldn't seem to get off his mind. The two hadn't exactly started off on the right foot, something Eslig still blamed himself for. Not a day went by that Eslig didn't wish that he could go back in time and right the wrong he'd done to Eira. But despite his grave mistake, it seemed as though Eira had forgiven him. Then there was the Snoggletog fight when Eira had defended him against Leende's advances- Eslig still wasn't sure what to think about that night. He and Eira had even been captured by Dragon Hunters and forced to fight in an arena against dragons. No one could deny that they had gone through a lot together.

But the feelings he held for Eira went beyond comradeship. He felt uncertain of himself, awkward, nervous, and moer than a little bashful whenever Eira was around. Over the winter, when they'd all been snowed in, Eira had been the one Eslig had missed the most.

Eira was smart, brave, and loyal to her friends. She treated her dragons with respect and cared for them. Plus, she was a talented fighter and a crack shot with her bow. And, Eslig had to admit to himself, she was beautiful. Some vikings muttered about her wild hair, two-toned eyes, and unique wardrobe, but to Eslig these were all part of what made Eira... well, Eira- a viking that he both admired and respected.

Struck with a sudden jolt of courage, Eslig urged Ambolt forward so he was even with Drift.

"Eira, there's something I've been meaning to tell you for a while" he said, hoping she didn't notice nervous shake in his voice. "What I'm trying to say is that-- "

"Hi you two!" said Brasa called, waving at them from the ground below. With a sigh, Eslig swallowed his words and nudged Ambolt down to where Lady Brasa was waiting.

((@piggy: I promise we'll find Mychael soon! Once we get Brasa over to Albatross, Earthguard can continue it's mission while Albatross heals on Berk. We can find Mychael then, setting the stage for Albatross and Mychael to bond. Thank you for your patience so far!))

The former fighter

Rue gasped when the Shockjaw reacted to Donni's aggression by lunching at him and tackling him down. This dragon knew how to fight! More than a normal wild one. It took more than just courage to face a titan Thunderdrum like that. This dragon, as it seemed, had been used in dragon fights and he knew exactly how to survive against other dragons - and how to kill. Fear struck Rue when the Shockjaw hit Donni with a powerful electric blast.

But while she, despite the distance, was almost swept off her feet by that, the thick thin of the Thunderdrum, luckily, could take the hit. Donni roared furiously and bared his many teeth, only a moment away from pushing the Shockjaw away with a sonic blast. "Donni, don't!"

Hearing her call, the Thunderdrum started backing away from the other dragon - which made him catch another electric hit.

“PLEASE STOP!”

Surprised, Rue saw the Shockjaw stop in his tracks. He looked confused but then, backed away himself. It took all the courage Rue could gather but she slowly approached him. “We’re not going to hurt you. Believe us. Please.”

And this time, her words seemed to sink in. The Shockjaw moved backwards, sat down and eyed them both suspiciously.

While Rue quickly scanned Donni for injuries, the other dragon watched her every move. Luckily, the Thunderdrum's skin only had some smaller burn marks which would heal fast.

Suddenly, Donni rumbled nervously. That expression of his Rue knew too well by now... "Oh no. Your hiccups?"

As an answer, the Thunderdrum took off in a hurry and disappeared into the next forest. Seconds later, they could hear deafening sonic sounds.

Startled, the Shockjaw looked at her. Rue sighed and shrugged helplessly. "When he gets into too much stress he starts hiccuping, you know. He then always runs off because he doesn't want to hurt somebody with his blasts."

Rue wasn't sure if the dragon could understand what she was trying to explain but, still feeling a little wary around him, she decided that acting normal and talking to him would be the best idea. The Shockjaw looked even more startled.

Realizing that Donni had taken all her belongings with him, the only thing Rue could do right now was sit down as well, her back against the trunk of a tree. The Shockjaw and her eyed each other.

"Looks like it's only me and you for now."

The Shockjaw pondered on The

The Shockjaw pondered on The human’s reactions. So that means they aren’t hunters... but what are they Then... The dragon looked into the sky wanting to be free but he was injured. Why didn’t that Thunderdrum Attack? Nothing made since to him, who were these people, why aren’t they scared, why are their dragons protecting them? The Tidal Class Dragon walked over to the pond and layed down staring into his reflection. Is this what I’ve become? Have I become as soft as their dragons? Why... why don’t I kill them? The dragon’s Mind was full of questions, questions no one could awnser but himself.

The girl walked over and sat down next to him. The Shock jaw looked at her but then back at the water and then to the sky. It was almost sunset yet it seemed that to the Shockjaw the day had only begun. His gaze turned back to the Human they called Rue. Her reds in brown hair blew in the breeze and her necklace too. She wasn’t your average human... or had it just been so long since he had seen one.

Passing the time

The Shockjaw kept gazing into the pond as if he was hoping for some answers from his reflexion. Every now and then, he turned around and looked at Rue.

She tried to imagine how he must feel, having been hunted and hurt by vikings all his life and now running into her and her friends. She could imagine that that must be confusing. But he wasn't the first dragon that they had met with such a past and he would not be the last. Time would probably help him to recover and to learn. Rue thought about Hael.

Getting a little bored, Rue looked up at the sky but Eslig, Eira and either Brasa or Gothi were nowhere to be seen yet. She yawned and started rummaging in her tunic, searching for something that she could do. As usual, she had three of Gothic's spikes with her. But sharpening them didn't quite seem to her like an appropriate activity for calming the Shockjaw... Hm, her parents had given her a small flute for Snoggletog which she often carried with her but she could not find it right now. So, Rue just sat there and started humming a song that recently one of Berk's artists had come up with. It was about Hiccup finding Toothless.

The Shockjaw's head darted around, making Rue stop the humming for a moment. But when she carefully continued, the dragon just kept watching her. Maybe he had heard the dragon hunters sing. But after a short while the Shockjaw seemed to calm down. Maybe he even was enjoying the music, Rue could not tell for sure.

So, they both just sat near the pond and waited. Rue's humming - and later singing - was only interrupted by Donni's sonic blasts in the distance. But they were getting less frequent and less louder than they had been earlier. Rue knew that he had learned quite well to handle these situations and soon, he would have calmed himself down enough to come back to them.

The Shockjaw heard a tune the hunters used To sing and looked around frantically only to find it was coming from Rue. Her humming matched the calm breeze that froze the Tidal Class drahon’s scales. The Shockjaw layed down facing away from the human wishing he could leave and be free... but where would he go? He had no home, no family, no friends...

The Shockjaw saw the girl was getting hungry and the drahon dove into the pond accidently splashing Rue. The dragon swam down and cought three fish. He brought them up to the surface and with one smack of his tail they died. The Shockjaw then climbed out and nudged the fish over to Rue.

Shared lunch

The growling of her stomach finally stopped Rue's singing. She was getting hungry... and Donni was still gone. In his saddlebags were roasted fish und bread that Rue had brought for the trip. Thinking about it made Rue's stomach growl again. She stood up and started searching nearby bushes for berries but it was too early in the year for that. Looking over the ground, Rue could only make out some mushrooms and herbs that would not kill her if she ate them but they weren't delicious either...

When a splash of water suddenly hit her, she winced and looked over her shoulder, seeing the Shockjaw dive into the pond. Oh well, now she had to make a fire first. It was too cold to sit around in wet clothes.

This time, Rue had more luck and she found two firestones and enough dry branches so that quickly, a small campfire was burning. The Shockjaw had come back on land, three fish in his mouth. He eyed the fire suspiciously for a moment but then, nudged the fish over to Rue.

Surprised, Rue didn't move. Was that dragon really offering her his prey? Despite his distrust in humans?

The Shockjaw nudged the fish again, even closer to Rue. "Uhm, you caught them for me? ...Wow ... thank you! That's very kind of you."

Surprised, Rue smiled at the dragon before taking one of the trouts. Slowly, to not censored the Shockjaw, she used one of Gothic's spikes to prepare it. "I'll roast this one over the fire, if that is okay with you. I prefer roasted fish over raw fish, you know."

Surprised and a little disgusted, the Shockjaw watched her roasting the trout on a wooden stick over the fire but he seemed to be okay with it.

When Rue was eating, he slowly moved closer and gulped the two remaining fish. Then he went back to his former spot near the pond. Rue smiled. By now she enjoyed the dragon's company.

The warm fire relaxed the

The warm fire relaxed the Shockjaw since he had been freezing for so long. Why did I trust the Vikings? Why aren’t their dragons fleeing? Why am I not attacking them? Manh thoughts crowded the dragons head and he layed down hoping he would be able to fly soon. He at least wished another dragon was here so it didn’t feel so weird. The Shockjaw then faced towards Rue and then nudged her and nodded his head towards the sky as if asking what was beyond his prison.

It had had been years since he had seen the outside world, the world he never forgot yet it forgot him. The Tidal Class dragon then determined stretched his injured wing and then raked his other determined he would fly again. 3, 2, 1. The numbers floated through the dragons head and he charged fowards flapping his wings trying to get into the air. A boulder layed on the ground and the Dragon Countinued to run wanting to fly. 500 feet away. 400, 300, 200, 100, 50, 25,10, 2. The dragon jumped on top of the boulder and pressed Of of it and jumped. With a determined look on his face he flapped his wings only to see the pond ungulf him. He swam to the surface and saw Rue watching him. He looked away and layed ontop Of the boulder in the middle of his prison.

From the moment she had

((edit: edited my post to add the little detour Eira took to change clothes and return, and also added text colors))

From the moment she had started flying with dragons, Eira had taken to it like a fish to sea. She loved every minute of it. There was never a time she didn't enjoy flying. Except this time. The flight into Berk proper was the most stressful flight she had ever flown. More stressful than her and Driftwood's first flight, more stressful than when they were fighting against the dragon hunters at armorwing island. Eira could feel Ambolt and Eslig flying beside them just outside of her peripheral, but she didn't dare turn to look their way. Until a rush of wings brought the pink nadder head to head with them and Eslig's voice carried over on the wind.

Her breath hitched in her throat at the sound of it and she jerked her head towards them. She was thankful her mask at least shielded part of her face from him, though she tried to put on her best, down-to-business, brave face, despite the rapidly increasing pace of her heartbeat. His words barely started to register when Brasa called up from bellow. Too eager to focus on something, anything else, Eira turned away and looked down at the blue haired Viking, beaming a wide grin down to her, her hand waving back. She was excited to see lady Brasa again, and the gods-fated timing was even more welcoming.

"Brasa!" Eira took Drift into a low bank as they came in for a landing, hopping off before the Timberjack fully settled. "We found an injured dragon and need your help!"

The older Viking needed little further encouragement. "Say no more!" She ran to grab her healers equipment and fetch Gothi. The two women made short work of preparation and soon enough, they were all mounted back on their dragons with Eslig and Eira leading the way.

As they flew off from Berk proper, Eira brought Driftwood close beside Ambolt. "Lead them the rest of the way," she called over to Eslig, "I'll meet back up with you in a few." With that, Eira and Driftwood veered off, heading towards the school. It didn't take them long to meet back up with them near the gully, and Eira and Drift circled around the opening as they came upon it. Eira was dressed in her usual attire, now, bow at her back. Eslig had already directed Brasa and Gothi towards the injured dragon, down to where Rue was sitting with the Shockjaw. They seemed to have gotten a little fire going and were getting along alright, to which Eira was relieved. Though there was an odd absence of a titan thunderdrum. Quickly forgetting that strange detail, Eira directed Drift to land.

The Shockjaw felt intense

The Shockjaw felt intense winds from atop his boulder and looked up. The dragons from before were back.... and they brought two more Vikings. The drahon lunged in front of Rue and protectively growled. He had started to trust Rue and now more people he didn’t recognize showed up. One of the old ladies got down from a dragon and with her staff she drew in the ground. The other lady approached the Shockjaw and inspected his wound. He defensively growled as she came close. She then grabbed some weird herb and mixed it together with water and the weird grass from before. She smashed it up and took some out to place on the cut. As she was about to touch it the Shockjaw knocked her to the ground with his tail not trusting her one bit. He growled and placed a Talon on her, he roared and then walked over to the short one drawing. Confused he swuinted at the squiggles and looked at the little old lady.

What was she doing? He then calmed down and returned to Rue and protectively spread his wings and growled showing this was his friend and no one would hurt her. The lady stood up and gathered her supplies and a Viking rushed to help her. Everyone seemed mad at the Shockjaw and he had no idea why. He looked up at Rue with a face that said “What did I do?”

.::Viking:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::..

Name: Rebecca Blondstöm

Nicknames/Title: A plethora of obscenities that can’t be mentioned around polite company.

Gender: Female

Age: 17 (as of the RP)

Residence: Currently her family longhouse on Berk

PersonalityExtroverted and assertive, Rebecca is the type to initiate a conversation with a stranger if the situation called for such an action. What she lacks in modesty she makes up for in confidence, though it can border on arrogance more often than not. She’s very sure of herself, and is always ready for a challenge, especially when involving feats of athleticism. A definite thrill seeker, who's mind rarely takes risks into account.
On a usual day-to-day basis, Rebecca has a rather ‘chill’ disposition and has a good sense of humor, but she can run on a short fuse when she feels she has been treated unjustly, and her first response to anger is to confront her presumed assailant with a fist to the face. However, regardless of her occasional disagreeability, she still enjoys social interaction, and thrives off of physical affection.

HistoryRebecca was nursed in her mother’s village, living there until she was two before her home was ransacked. Her mother was killed by the attacking tribe, and her father (an English-Nordic Viking), knowing that there was nothing left for them in the east now that the mother of his child was dead, took Rebecca and made the long journey back to Berk. As such, Rebecca spent 2 more years of her life on the road, travelling from place to place on the way back from central China, through Europe, and finally back north to Berk.
Her father, who’s wanderlust trumped any sort of instinct to stay to raise his own child after bringing her to safety, put Rebecca under the supervision of Gobber’s watchful eye, and once again left to go on his travels. As her father had no siblings living on the island at that time, and because the blacksmith was an old friend and distant relative of his, the peg-legged viking had little argument with having the toddler dumped on him. He occasionally comes back to visit, generally every other year or so -or whenever he’s in the area- but currently his whereabouts are unknown.
Rebecca grew alongside Hiccup and the other teens in their age range on Berk, but would often go off on her own to explore rather than sticking around for training. It would seem that she gained her father’s innate need to roam. Being confined on the island, Rebecca would spend her days weaving through the forest, climbing the tall evergreens to get a better view of what lay beyond Berk’s coast. Days when the trading ships would dock  in the port were her favorite, as she would be able to get a glimpse of the world outside of what she knew. Thoughts of just hopping on one of the visiting vessels and leaving were always present in her mind, but Gobber knew well enough not to let Rebecca go down to the marina by herself on trading days.
When Rebecca was 14, after the end of the dragon-viking feud, she finally got her chance to leave. Berk was chaos, every one of the villagers too occupied with adjusting to their new way of life, and she was able to slip onto a small sailboat, the wind carrying her away from the island and out onto the sea. She hadn’t intended to go too far, initially only wanting to visit one of the neighboring isles, but she became overzealous. Her need to go out farther, as well as her inexperience with sailing, led her to get caught in a storm. She ended up getting stranded on an unknown outcrop, far from Berk, and wasn’t able to find her bearings. Though, even if she did, it wouldn’t have done her much good as she had no way to get home. Gathering whatever supplies she could salvage from the wreck, she set off to find shelter, silently coming to terms with her impending demise. She was alone on the tiny island for a couple weeks, scavenging for edible roots for sustenance when her rations ran dry. On one of her searches for food, she came across a massive dragon resting by the shore. Her immediate reaction was to run and hide, having been raised with a fear of the reptilian beasts. But another thought entered her mind soon after;
That dragon had wings, wings that could take her off that forsaken rock. She’d seen it done before, having witnessed Hiccup and his friends tame and ride their own dragons, so why couldn’t she do it too?
Rebecca approached the towering reptile cautiously, the typhoomerang behaving with unexpected docility. If anything, the dragon probably couldn’t have been bothered to dispose of a lone, pint-sized human. When the dragon began to ignore her after her first attempts of contact, Rebecca became more forward with her actions, eventually getting within touching distance and throwing it fish that she caught. While the typhoomerang accepted the fish, it still had little interest in interacting with the tiny human, just tolerating her presence on their shared island.
When night fell, the dragon roosted on the outcrop, and Rebecca watched the beast from her haphazard shelter throughout the evening, gradually moving closer as it slept. She observed it until the sun peeked over the horizon, the early morning light coaxing the dragon from its slumber. At that point, Rebecca was face-to-face with the dragon’s massive head, and she gazed into its yellow eyes as it slowly blinked the drowsiness away. The typhoomerang did not retaliate, instead just watching her back with a look of apparent disinterest. Reaching a hand out, Rebecca gingerly touched its maw, fully expecting that that would be the straw would kill her, but once again, the dragon remained docile, only giving a soft huff in response.
She spent the day following it around, and when it was preparing to take off, she latched onto its neck, the typhoomerang taking her into the air as it flew away from the deserted island. It was very aware of its newfound passenger, the girl clinging to its neck while she screamed curses in her fear, but had no qualms as it continued flying.
Such was the start of Rebecca’s relationship with Sandstone, the typhoomerang landing on another island that evening. They ate together, and slept within the same vicinity, and Rebecca came to fashion a tie made from thick vines so that she wouldn’t fall off the dragon when he took off again. She had absolutely no intention of getting stranded again.
Rebecca didn’t return to Berk until a year later, having learned to cooperate with her dragon and eventually taking the reins in controlling their direction and purpose, and instead explored distant lands with her new companion. She established herself as a travelling trader, her first exchange being one of Sandstone’s discarded scales for a brass goblet, and then the brass goblet for a dagger, and so on.
She now only visits Berk in the spring and summer, the winters being far too harsh, and takes off during the less agreeable seasons to trade with far-off tribes.

LikesHot and dry weather, sunbathing, climbing, flying, pickled vegetables.

DislikesHumidity, the cold, meats and eggs.

Appearance: Rebecca is of average height, standing at 5’5”, though she runs on the shorter side in her family. She has a square face and a wider bone structure, especially in the hips. Her skin is very pale with a slight warm undertone due to mixed heritage, and her cheeks are covered with freckles. Because of her diet and activity level, she is rather thin, her bones protruding at the hips and the indentations of her rib cage being quite visible below the flesh. However, she has built up a decent musculature from her athletics, and is fit and resilient.
Her hair is long and fine, the straight locks parted in the middle and falling just below her mid-back, and is a golden-brown colour with a copper shine. Her brown eyes are large and round, and seem to have perpetual dark circles, regardless of how much sleep she gets. Rebecca gained very little in the way of Asiatic features from her mother, though her hair and eyes are a bit darker than that of the rest of the Blondström family, who traditionally have sandy-blonde hair and blue or grey eyes.
The large burn scar that runs along her right neck and shoulder, as well as the smaller ones littering her hands, were gained from irresponsible dragon handling.

When out in public, Rebecca can usually be found in a standard tunic-pant-boot combo. The casual outfit is paired with a single plated pauldron on her left size, with the shed deadly nadder scales beneath it being repurposed as a protective mesh. The 'fabric' draping across her shoulders is actually made from a dragon's wing membrane, though she doesn't know the species it was sourced from as she looted the scrap from a trapper's hoard, y'know, cause she thought it was "pretty".
The jewellery she wears are from both Nordic and Chinese culture. The beaded bracelet and pewter circlet around her neck were bought at market, and are traditional Viking pieces. The other bracelet on her left wrist is made from smoothed walnuts, and has been with her since her youth in her mother's village. The braded bracelet is just there because she liked the colour of the twine.
While in colder weather, or when subjected to suffering the winters in the north, she wears a bear fur and woolen cloak over her clothing to protect her from the harsh temperatures.

PersonalitySandstone is lacking in the typical typhoomerang characteristics, being not nearly as aggressive or dramatic as other individuals of his species. He’s usually quiet and nonchalant, not really caring much for what goes on around him, and generally retains his docile disposition. Content on not engaging in any out-of-the-way task, he lets his rider call the shots on their activities. However, as his bond with Rebecca grew, he did eventually develop a keenness for high-speed d flight and competition, which works with his natural strengths.
While not openly affectionate, he does sometimes pine for attention when he’s alone with his rider. He had grown to be quite protective over her, and some would say that he possesses more maturity and sensibilities than Rebecca. He will often make his disapproval over his rider’s stupid decisions known, most often with frustrated vocalizations of low rumbles and growls, as well as he occasional shoving and bucking.
He is prone to snapping when annoyed excessively, so watch your fingers!

HistorySandstone grew up with his flock, and left his mother’s care at a normal age and gained his independence. He lived a very standard life as a wild dragon -hunting, migrating, fathering clutches, the sorts- before meeting Rebecca and becoming her companion and partner. Prior to his experience with his rider, he hadn’t come into contact with many other humans, excluding the occasional fishermen that ducked for cover when he soared overhead.

LikesGrilled eel, pumpkin, high-altitude gliding, waterfall baths.

DislikesEggs, tomatoes, losing sleep, cutting saddles.

AppearanceSandstone is of average size for a male typhoomerang. His base colour is a ruddy red, his wing tips growing progressively lighter to a deep amber. His belly scales are a dull russet-ochre, while his neck and face are covered in pale scales. His horns, dorsal spines and talons are a dark charcoal, and his eyes have rings of gold and orange.

Gothi and Brasa to the rescue

((Yey, a typhoomerang rider! Welcome to the RP, Jackalope! :-) I like how you describe how Rebecca and Sandstone met. His majestic and maybe a little arrogant behavior is actually so typical Typhoomerang in my opinion. Love it! :-)

And maroon should be fine! Herze, a former role-player had maroon as her colour but she left the RP a long time ago and unfortunately, I don't expect her to come back. So, it's yours now :-) ))

Worried, Rue watched the Shockjaw get up, restlessly wander around and then all of a sudden speeding up. He aimed for a big boulder and jumped from there up into the sky.

"Be careful! Your wing can't carry you yet!" But there was no use, he didn't listen or maybe didn't even hear her. This dragon wanted to fly again! Who knew how long he had been trapped on this land already? Luckily, the dark water of the pond caught him when he came tumbeling down.

"Even though it is hard, you have to be patient for your wing to heal first," Rue told him as soon as he got out of the water. But the dragon just went over to the boulder, his head held low as if he was ashamed of his disability to fly. "Let me see your bandages. I hope they will hold until the others arrive..."

As if on cue, Rue felt the wind of dragon wings above them.

"We're here!" She smiled and waved at her friends and her former teacher. It felt good to see them again! Brasa got off Clintonia and came over to them. Rue was about to greet her but the Shockjaw suddenly leapt between them, growling at Brasa who bravely tried to apply ointment on his wounds as if nothing was wrong. The new vikings and dragons seemed to frighten him. Before Rue could do something, the Shockjaw had knocked Brasa off her feet.

After a confused glimpse at Gothi's drawings, he circled back to Rue. He looked at her as if he was asking what all this was about. "It's okay, you can trust these people." she answered. "I trust them. They are my friends. And those two are healers, they will fix your wing in no time so that you can fly again."

And turning back to Brasa, helping her up, Rue added: "Be careful with him. He's apparently been in captivity and used in dragon fights. He doesn't trust people."

"Alright. I can see that. So maybe we'll better start off with some dragon nip..."

Gothi waved her arms and scribbeled signs into the sand near the pond that said: "That's what I've been telling you guys for 5 minutes now!"

"It's okay, you can trust

"It's okay, you can trust these people." Rue said “I trust them. They are my friends. And those two are healers, they will fix your wing in no time so that you can fly again." The Shockjaw then turned to the the Vikings and one of the ladies approached him with the weird grass. He began to growl but then remembered what Rue Said. There friends! He told himself and then ate the grass. The Shockjaw calmed down and the lady inspected his wound. She spread cold green glop on the scar and covered it in a weird leather thing. It felt weird but soon he got used to humans helping him

Agter a while she finished and his wound already felt a tiny better though the lady’s face made the Shockjaw worry. “I think his scar might be perminit.” She said and the Shockjaw’s heart sank. If his wing was injured... he couldn’t fly. Rue must’ve seen what he was thinking and asked “Will He be able to fly?” Then the lady replied “Luckily he will still be able to fly. Though he will have to learn how to fly with his injury.” The Shockjaw’s confidence returned and he looked up at Rue and smiled.

Observe from afar

((Hmm, how to meet Rebecca and Sandstone... maybe she's one of the traders we run into now that spring has arrived? What would be her motivation for adventuring with Earthguard? (assuming you don't want Rebecca to be in Earthguard in the RP- or is that just in-game?))

Eslig was relieved to see that Rue was still in one piece as he, Gothi, Eira, and Brasa spiraled down to land near the injured Shockjaw. The Shockjaw seemed mistrusting of... well, everybody, and Eslig had been wary of leaving Rue and Donni alone with the wild dragon. Rue seemed in high spirits- even if Donni was missing in action. However, Rue beamed at Gothi and Brasa so Eslig figured that Donni's absence was only temporary.

Brasa immediately got to work while Gothi frantically scratched in the sand and banged Eslig several times in the head in an attempt to get him to translate. As Eslig tried to explain to the healer that he had no idea what she was trying to communicate, the Shockjaw knocked Brasa to the ground.

Eslig retreated quickly as the Shockjaw ambled over to where Gothi was scrathcing in the sand. Both Eslig and Ambolt kept their distance as Rue managed to persuade the Shockjaw to let Gothi and Brasa treat him further. The outlook was mostly optimistic- the Shockjaw would have a scar, but would be able to fly again.

Both Rue and the Shockjaw seemed pleased by the diagnosis. From about 50m away, Eslig watched Brasa and Gothi advise Rue as to how best rehabilitate her new friend, the Shockjaw. Noting that Eira and Drift kept a similar distance, Eslig walked over, his eyes fixed on the wounded Tidal Class dragon.

"So, what do you think we should do now?" he asked, trying not to be distracted by the way the evening breeze played with Eira's hair. "We can't exactly leave him alone until he recovers, but the sooner those dragon traps are cleared, the better".

((If the group is bringing the shockjaw back to Berk to heal, I can have my characters arrive back from their travels and come across them. I don't think I'll have her join earthguard [in the rp or in game] but I can have her act as a supporting character instead? Maybe her motivation could be that she wants a certain type of supply/product on Eira's island that can't be found elsewhere?))

((Welcome, Jackalope! Hm...

((Welcome, Jackalope! Hm... yeah, we can come across her as a trader maybe. Maybe we meet her in transit, or on the island where we'll meet Mychael. Orrrrr.... it's just barely spring. What if something happened to her on the way back to Berk? She discovered something, got waylaid, attacked, trapped, stranded.... hmm... I'll think more on this.

Also, Piggy and Jackalope, Earthguard has recently gotten a discord server, and now that we have a few non-clan member rpers here, I was going to extend the invitation to the server to you two! It can be helpful when discussing rp things and whatnot, or just fun. ^^ Here's the invite link if you two wish to join: https://discord.gg/Ch3fB8

Another also, I forgot I was going to do something in my previuos post. I'm just gonna edit it in, but it won't change the outcome of anything, I was just gonna have Eira run back home real quick and grab her bow and more appropriate clothing.))

Eira watched from the sidelines with Driftwood, giving the shockjaw much needed space while even more strange vikings and dragons crowded him. She understood his plight. Not only did she not enjoy crowds much, but she was also familiar with Haelstrom's difficulty in crowded, closed spaces. She always figured it had something to do with being locked up in a cage for so long and having to fight to survive. Just one look at the shockjaw told her he had to have had a similarly troubling life like her Hael. Beside her, Driftwood rumbled warningly as the shockjaw reacted aggressively to Brasa and Gothi, but she quieted him down and kept him at bay. The other viking women were experienced dragon riders and healers. They knew what they were doing and the last thing they needed was an adolescent timberjack and hot headed novice rider to muck it up. Her bow had been in hand, though, the moment they landed when it seemed the shockjaw was going to attack, but it now hung low and harmless at her side. She watched in awe as Rue, Brasa, and Gothi calmed the wild dragon and tended to his injury, stiffling a little laughter at the old volva's antics on Eslig's head.

But as he approached her and spoke, she stiffened. "Oh, um... Maybe..." Eira stammered, one hand rubbing at the arm holding her bow while she tried to avoid eye contact. Why did she suddenly feel so unsure of herself around Eslig? It was maddening. She clamped down on her lower lip and forced out a stern, decisive tone, though probably coming out more brusque than she intended. "Brasa and Gothi can take him back to town to mend while we finish with the traps."

"Good thinking," Brasa's voice chimed in. "We already sent for help to carry him back. Don't worry, we can stay with him and help him heal while you three finish your mission."

Eira beamed at Brasa, both for her second timely interruption, and her support of the plan. "There. See? Problem solved." She hopped back up onto Driftwood, who looked at her, then back to the shockjaw uncertainly. Eira patted him reassuringly. "I'm sure they got this, big guy."

((Oh! What if Rebecca is already on Berk and she's the one that comes to help bring Albatross back?))

Dragonless

Rue was glad to hear that the Shockjaw would be able to fly again. And she enjoyed his smile. It was the first time that she saw him smile. Plus, it seemed like he started getting used to Gothi and Brasa and their treatments, so she would be able to continue her trip to the other islands with Eslig and Eira. With some encouraging words she said good-bye to the Shockjaw and thanked Brasa and Gothi for taking care of him.

Eira had already jumped onto Driftwood when Rue realized: "Uhm, can somebody give me lift? ... I have no dragon."

She grinned sheepishly at her friends. From their asking faces Rue realized that she had to provide them with a little more information than that.

"Donni and the Shockjaw got into a fight. They are both alright but Donni had his hiccups again, so he went off. He's over there in the forest." She pointed in the direction that he had disappeared to.

Hunting hiccups

Eslig knew better than to argue once Eira began fiddling with her bow; besides, he saw no reason to as Eira's plan was soundly endorsed by Brasa.

More than happy to leave the Shockjaw in Brasa and Gothi's capable hands, Eslig hopped onto Ambolt and prepared for takeoff. If Earthguard hurried, they'd have about an hour before sundown to clear dragon traps.

"Can somebody give me a lift?" Rue asked, a little sheepishly. "Donni and the Shockjaw got into a fight. They are both alright but Donni had his hiccups again. He's over there in the forest" she said, pointing.

"Er, no problem" Eslig volunteered, extending a hand to help pull Rue into the saddle behind him. Rue wrapped her arms around his waist for support, and Eslig sympathized. He'd long since grown used to the ideosynchracies of riding a Nadder, but he had to concede that each dragon "rode" differently. Eslig looked over at Eira, who had pulled her cowl dow just above her two-toned eyes. "It'll be just a minute" he assured Rue... or maybe Eira.

Ambolt took off into the evening sky and circled slowly, awaiting instructions.

"How do you know where he went?" asked Eslig.

"Just follow the downed trees!" Rue said, and Eslig's vision was drawn to several trees knocked over by the Thuderdrum's sonic hiccups.

A couple minutes later, a smiling Donni greeted them, his hiccups seemingly gone. "Thanks" Rue said, sliding down off Ambolt and walking over to her Thunderdrum.

"You're welcome" Eslig said, simultaneously noting that Rue had drawn in breath to speak further. "Sorry- was there something else you wanted to speak to me about?"

((that was my thought

((that was my thought exactly! Sandstone should be big and strong enough to carry albatross. We're on Berk, but like in the wilderness elsewhere on the island, kind of a similar place where toothless had been trapped in the first movie. I'm thinking gothi and Brasa either left instructions to send someone to them to help carry him back to town or sent a terror mail to fetch Rebecca. So you could have her receiving that message and heading to our location to get the shockjaw. Terror mail is probably best, that way the terrible terror can lead her to the right location. Probably one of gothis terrors.))

The Shockjaw looked sadly

The Shockjaw looked sadly into the sky as the only human he trusted flew away. He wanted her to stay but instead he was left with two crazy ladies. The mute one approached him and inspected his wound before scribbling. The other lady hesitated but nodded and got out a weird fruit. She gave it to the Shockjaw and he ate it. All of a sudden he felt weird and then all of a sudden he felt very calm. He recognized this fruit, it was Sage Fruit. It could make a hostile Dragon calm

it it felt like hours passed and still no sign of the humans. Lonely, the drahon layed down in sadness and stared into the pond. He smiled and dove into the cold water looking for his prey.

Eira blinked at Rue. Donni!

((edit: just added the text color to dialogue))

Eira blinked at Rue. Donni! Oh right! She had forgotten about the thunderdrum's absence in the excitement of it all. She nodded as Rue climbed on behind Eslig and watched them as Ambolt took to the sky. "Uh, okay... I'll just... Wait here... I guess..." Her words most likely didn't reach them as they had already flown off in search of the hiccuping Titan. Drift swing his head to look at her and she gave him a look. "What?"

With a pout, she stomped off towards the healers and their patient. In all reality, she was mildly thankful she wasn't going along with them. She could use a break from being around Eslig right about now.

As she approached the others, Eira slung her bow back over her shoulder. "Anything I can help with?"

Before either of the two older ladies could respond, the shockjaw emerged once again from fishing in the pond, his prey in his grasp. Eira studied him more closely and felt her heart go out to him. So much of him was like Haelstrom. Keeping herself in a non-threatening posture, Eira approached him slowly, crouching low as she kept her hands behind her back. She lowered her head and tilted it curiously, her one golden eye and one green eye meeting his. Unlike most of the other humans, this one seemed more wild and untamed, with her wild unruly hair and two different colored eyes. She had quickly reapplied the dark face paint around her eyes and the two sharp streaks cutting across her cheekbones, making her look even more wild and almost animalistic, the dark paint making her golden eye glow like that of a wolf, or a dragon. She even smelled like a dragon, with her patchwork clothing of leathers, fur, and dragon scales, and the dragon spine and horn daggers all about her.

Pausing a short distance from him, Eira sat down in the dirt, not approaching further or reaching out to him, but respecting his space. "Remember me? Took those nasty ropes off you." She noticed his look of sadness and added, "She'll be back. Had to go find her friend."

Brasa and Gothi watched closely, both women and their dragons ready to spring into action should the dragon grow violent again at Eira's approach. From his own vantage point, Driftwood rumbled worriedly as he watched his rider draw dangerously close to this wild creature, a low growl in his throat as a warning to the shockjaw not to mess with his human.

A new humans approached, the

A new humans approached, the one who realized his ropes. He glared at her and the giant dragon behind her growled as if saying “Hands off my human.” He Shockjaw would’ve roared back excepting the challenge but because of the fruit he couldn’t. Slowly he returned his gaze to his prey. He ate the fish he cought and then walked over to Drift. The Shockjaw had smelled another drahon besides the big one for a while but couldn’t figure out where. The Tidal Class dragon walked around Drfit until he saw movement in the saddlebag. Curious, the Shockjaw tried to open the bag but the large dragon moved out of his grasp and Growled. The Shockjaw defenevly growled back and charged his blast just Incase Drift chose to make a wrong move.

The Shockjaw’s yellow eyes met Drift’s thin yellow ones. The Timberjack’s Talons tug into the dirt trying to not let his anger take over. Drift’s tail swayed back and forth violently and his gaze never left the Shockjaw. The Tidal drahon sneered At Drift as if saying “Bring it on.”

((Oh I totally forgot about

((Oh I totally forgot about Orvar! Thanks for reminding me!))

Driftwood rumbled low from where the timberjack had waited some distance away as his rider had approached the shockjaw. But now the shockjaw approached him. His wing talons dug into the dirt, prepared for anything as his tail twitched agitatedly. Driftwood was normally a calm and peaceful dragon, but not when someone or something threatened his family. He shuffled back a few paces, raising his head high and bringing the sharp ends of his wings forward slowly, cautiously. What was this dragon doing? Why wasn't he backing off? Driftwood grew more alarmed. He knew he had the disadvantage on the ground, and the sheer wall of the gully was dangerously close to his back. A few puffs of smoke snorted from his nostrils in warning.

Eira stood up and watched the shockjaw walk off and approach her dragon. She watched apprehensively, as did Brasa and Gothi and their dragons, all waiting on edge to see what would happen. Calmly, Eira raised a hand, signaling to Driftwood as she gave him a reassuring look. "Easy, big guy... he's just curious. No need to get defensive."

Driftwood snorted and shot her an indignant look. He'd like to see her try to remain calm when an obviously aggressive, wild beast confronted her! But then the shockjaw did something unexpected as he sniffed towards one of Driftwood's saddlebags, and a moment later, a little red and white head popped out and sneezed on the shockjaw. The hatchling Terror flicked out a forked tongue and licked one large eyeball and proceeded to stare curiously at the new dragon. Then the little glowy fronds on the dragon's chin caught his eye and he started batting at them playfully.

Eira blinked, watching wide eyed. Then she toppled over, rolling on the ground laughing.

Stunned by the small drahon

Stunned by the small drahon sneezing on him the Shockjaw couldn’t move. Then the grossest thing happened, HE LICKED HIS EYEBALL! Disgusted the Shock was about to walk off but then the small drahon jumped onto the Shockjaw Head. The Tidal Class drahon roared as the tiny drahon nlocked his vision. As the Shockjaw stumbled around he tripped and fell, landing on the ground. By now the fruit’s affect had worn off and the Shockjaw would’ve killed the tiny dragon for making a fool of him but something about the tiny drahon reminded the Shockjaw of a drahon from his past, a drahon who helped hunters kill dragons. The only difference was that the tiny drahon was smaller and a different color.

After several minutes the Shockjaw finally got the tiny drahon off. Still disgusted the drahon bounded off to the pond to wash him face of the sneeze. The girl was still laughing and the Shockjaw growled, annoyed she was laughing at him. But deep inside, the Shockjaw wanted to laugh too. The only thing keeping him from laughing was the last words he learned Make yourself stoic, strike first, think later.
