DISCLAIMER

In this fanfiction it’s not about the dragons escaping the arena they’re forced to fight in. It’s about how the dragons live in the arena, and how they adapt their skills to fighting in specific situations against certain dragons. if this isn’t for you, please go somewhere else, I’m looking to try out something new.

Anyways, besides that here are a few rules:

please don’t reply on this thread, I’m making a chat thread with a link to each chapter. I want to keep this thread organized.

dont get annoyed if one of your favorite dragons lost, its my fanfiction and I’m basing it off of the situation they are in. Don’t write a paragraph about “how in the show...” or “because of this...” that I am wrong. I wrote the situation, and I don’t care what happened. These are different situations.

dont say this is cruel. I know this is cruel. That’s the point. Oh, and I never say it’s impossible that the dragons won’t escape.

none of the dragons will die. Don’t. Worry about that.

no nightfuries, alpha dragons, book dragons, or dragons that have never been seen in the show will appear here. Don’t count on any rise of berk dragons appearing. Maybe once in a while one will.

anyways besides that, thank you for reading!

Introduction

Introduction

the tour

Here we have the normal arena. It’s modeled quite like the berk arena, but it has a bit more space for the dragons to fly around. There are two gates that are facing across each other on this arena. Both of them have a long corridor that links to the underground dragon cages, where we take out a dragon to lead them to this specific arena. Now, we actually have two dragon storage areas, but this one, our main one leads to two arenas, where our other one leads to one. Now, In the underground dragon cages, there are lots of different species of dragons, as many as we can handle. Here, we have all the dragons that live on land, and don’t require water to live, those have their own cage system. We like two have five to two of each species of dragon, just so they can live together. We also do a construction inside the cage so it can resemble their natural habitat and that they don’t feel so desperate to escape. We did train them to be hostile to other species, but not to be hostile with their own kind. Anyways, let’s move to the other arena.

This is our flight arena, where dragons are either forced to fight in the air, or if it’s an aquatic dragon in the water. Here we have reinforced deathsong amber, heated until it’s clear with a tinge of Orange that Incases this whole arena so the water doesn’t break out. At the bottom of the arena under water are two latches that are linked to reinforced tubes that we use to transfer the aquatic dragons into this arena. The aquatic dragons must swim up into the arena, and then we close the latched. Then we also have two large dragonproof shafts on either side of the arena that we use to transfer the dragons that are able to fly into this arena. Here no dragon can land except for the tiny metal ledge that is against the dome of the arena, so that the dragons can rest for a split second. Now, leaving our flight dome behind let’s check out our aquatic dragon cage. Here we have large cages with huge pools of water that go extremely deep here. We can’t see the bottom of the cages, but we can see the surface. We didn’t want to place death song amber down here. So instead, we just have a normal view of the dragons. All the dragons that require freshwater have it, and all that need saltwater have it too. We make sure each dragon gets a water filter, even in the normal cages too, we don’t want them to hideof thirst. We also have a fish dispenser in all of the cages too! That way we just fill it up, and when it’s feeding time, release the fish into the water. Anyways, enough of this tour, it’s time for the fights to begin!

Chapter 1 Speedstinger vs.

Chapter 1

Speedstinger vs.  triple stryke

Alright, the first fight will begin shortly, let’s just go explain some more things about how it works around here. As you know, speedstingers are very protective of their kind, so we had to teach the stingers here to be used to a pack member going up, but they always return alive, safe and sound. Now it’s normal for these guys! Oh and yes, most of our dragons were hatched in captivity, so they’re easier to handle for our arena. Some were too rare to get however, so we had to take them. We have about five stingers, the most amount of the same species we have here. The speedstingers were all hatched here, and so was our two triple strykes. We never have more than two dragons in the arenas at once, so don’t expect any pack fights. Honestly, if we weren’t getting so much money off of these fights we could make this place a zoo! Well we’d probably bid off the dragons, but well, each dragon has a caretaker. They sometimes become attached since the dragons are easy to handle, but most of the time it’s just work. Anyways, let’s go get our competitors. I just need to lead them to the arena with my helpers, and don’t worry, they don’t attack each other in the arena until all Vikings are out of the arena. So we will be safe, go and enjoy the show now!

The gates open slowly and a bright green Speedstinger steps out, and it quickly scans the arena and the Vikings watching from the stands above. It then immediately turns its head to the open gate in front of it, waiting for its opponent to appear. Slowly, with a clicking sound, a blue triple stryke with a black back, claws, ears, and one tail rises to from the darkness behind its gate. It stares directly at the stinger, it’s red eyes glimmering in the light.

“Welcome Vikings!” Boomed the announcer. “Here we have the fight nobody asked for, but we decided to give it to you anyways!” He paused, listening to the crowd’s laughter before continuing. “Sting, our old friend, the Speedstinger!” The crowd cheers as Sting lowers himself to the ground and growls when he hears his name, preparing himself for a fight. “Against our more recent fighter, Hollow, the Triple Stryke!” Hollow roars and his tails swing together making a clicking sound. “You know the drill, prepare for the fight of a lifetime, begin!”

As soon as he heard the word “begin” Hollow launched forward his tails at Sting, attempting to cut the stinger. Sting quickly hopped away and ran to the nearest wall, hissing at the stryke. The stryke roared and got on its two front claws, and started to launch fireballs at the stinger. Sting kept on hopping over them, as he circled Hollow. Hollow, getting frustrated; launched his tails at Sting again, but this time Sting was prepared. Sting stretched up his tail, and scratched the Stryke down its tails, completely paralyzing him. Sting hopped over Hollow, giving the crowd a triumphant smirk, as Hollow behind him, frozen in a position mid roar and his tails outstretched, with his head turned to around and his wings half open, watched at the stinger.

“And we have our winner!” Shouted the announcer. “That was a quick fight, not to worry, a better one is planned tomorrow! We can’t say much, but it will be worth it!” He gestured one hand to Hollow. “Hollow, is a more recent addition, so he had no idea what stingers are capable of, but tomorrow two experienced fighters will be out! Thank you for coming, and we hope to see you again!”

The crowd dispersed quickly, seemingly unsatisfied with the fight. Most would likely to come back tomorrow. This was only a taste of what was coming. You would definitely return for the next fight. Perhaps you’d see something more interesting, with all this buzz around this place it better be worth it.

Two Vikings go off to handle the dragons in the arena. One leads Sting out with a rope, and the other (with help) heaves Hollow onto a wheelbarrow, and wheels him out of the arena. Tomorrow will be more interesting.

Chapter 2 Cavern crasher vs

Chapter 2

Cavern crasher vs slitherwing

The crowd filed into the underground arena, and stared at the dome intensely. While the arena was underground it was surely not dark here, due to the intense amount of torches filled throughout the place. The main arena sat in the middle of the cage, away from any outside light, but the flight arena had the top half shown to the outside world facing a large gap. The seats surrounded the top half in the flight arena, so they could look down at the fights below. The seats on the flight arena didn’t completely circle the dome, but rather only halfway and stopped as soon as it would face the opening to the outside. So nobody would have to watch the battle with sun in their eyes. However, you’re not at the flight arena today. Here, you are watching a fight in the main arena! And it’s about to begin.

“Welcome! Today’s fight is going to be a great one!” Exclaimed the announcer. “We have on the right-“

The gate on the right of the arena suddenly opened, and a large Cavern Crasher stepped out. It was covered in scars that cut through its neat black scales, and yellow eyes that gleamed with ambition and cruelty. Instead of the typical yellow stripes, it hosted blue stripes instead, making it blend in a bit more than if it was a neon yellow.

“-Buck the Cavern Crasher!” The crowd cheered as soon as they heard his name. He must be a famous dragon in this arena. “Versus the mighty-“

The gate on the left opened and a large Slitherwing slid out into the arena. It was a normal colored Slitherwing, red with black and yellow markings, and bright blue eyes. It’s scales glimmered in the torch light, shining as if they were each a jewel, showing beauty and death at the same time. It swerved it’s head and kept a steady gaze on Buck, hissing quietly.

“-Venomstriker the Slitherwing! Begin!”

Venomstriker didn’t need to be told twice; she unfurled her wings and launched herself at Buck, her fangs outstretched preparing to bite. Buck leapt to the left and scrambled up the wall to hold onto the chains on the ceiling of the arena. He looked down at Venomstriker, who was turning around to face Buck on the ceiling when he released mucus down below right onto her. She hissed and shaked her scales, and the mucus slid right off of her. Her skin coating was too thick for anything to become attached onto her body, and a Cavern Crasher’s mucus was nothing to her. She snarled and leapt into the air and fired a batch of venom straight at Buck. Buck ran off the wall and began to let mucus cover the ground of the arena. Venomstriker kept on twisting around trying to land a venom blast on Buck but he was too fast. She finally got too tired to keep flapping her wings and let herself land. She still handed given up, but she wasn’t going to keep flying for now. Buck had settled on the ceiling. He turned his head to look down at Venomstriker- and fired at her. She quickly leapt into the air out of the way of the fireball, and when it hit the ground the whole arena became a fiery mess. Smoke covered the arena and Buck was confused, he kept on turning his head looking around for his foe, but he couldn’t find her. Suddenly, something slammed into him making him drop off from the ceiling and into the flames he had created. Venomstriker had slammed into him from behind!

“And the winner is Venomstriker!” The crowd cheered. “Now, quickly, helpers- extinguish the fire and get the antidote for Slitherwing venom!”

Vikings stepped down into the arena and threw buckets of water onto the fire, and as soon as all the smoke vanished, someone ran in and gave Buck the antidote for the venom. Then a couple of Vikings helped roll Buck onto a cart and move him out of the arena. A few others had to try and lasso Venomstriker and lead her out of the arena without touching her.

“Thank you for coming, and we hope to see you all again!”

Chapter 3 A unpleasant

Chapter 3

A unpleasant surprise

Sharpshard Vs Blindstorm

Sun filtered into the amber arena, making the water shimmer in a tinted orange color. You sat at the edge of your seat, facing away from the light and instead you face the large clear (with a amber tint) dome.

Today was supposed to be a legendary fight. These were two of the top three most competitive and powerful dragons, the list comprised of Sharpshard, Blindstorm, and the Cavern crasher Buck. They refused to tell you the species of the dragons since it was supposed to be a reveal of sorts. Suddenly, your thoughts are interrupted by the shout of the announcer.

“Today we have a legendary fight!” He grinned. “Sharpshard the razorwhip, Vs Blindstorm the Snow Wraith!”

Suddenly, a Viking rushed towards the announcer and whispered something to him. The announcer’s face drained of color as he shouted these commands:

“The fight is cancelled! Everyone evacuate! It is coming! Place all the dragons into their cages and go!!”

He then leapt away from the dome and ran to the entrance of the cave. An unearthly roar shook through the cave and ground rumbled. You ran off the seats and followed the huge crowd which was storming to the exit. You could hear panicked conversations between each person as you ran out the door.

“It was huge-“ “will they come back?-“ “wait what about my money-“ “I’m going to get those dragons after this...” “hey wait, what’s even going on?”

Hopefully you’ll see another fight... but for now you had to go.

Chapter 4 It’s not for

Chapter 4

It’s not for us

Part: 1

The fight of the White King

Four days after the evacuation:

A pure white night terror landed on the top of the main arena, and looked up at a strange pulley system above. This night terror was a alpha night terror, but it’s pack was in one of the cages in this cave. It escaped two days after the evacuation occurred, and ever since he had been trying to release the other dragons. The night terror, like a few other species of dragons in this cage system, were not ever used for fighting. They relied too much on each other, and weren’t fit for these battles. Instead, they just stored them away, and didn’t care too much about them, besides feeding them. No matter, this one was going to prove it’s worth.

The terror leapt up and pulled the large rope that connected to the system and it made some creaking sounds as it started to turn. Suddenly, five black terrors made their way up to the white terror. He had freed the main dragon cage system! He’d have to find a way to release the others later.

“Torfi!” Exclaimed one of the darker terrors. “You did it! You freed most of our comrades!”

“I already told them all to meet us by the underwater lake- they should be all there.” Piped in another terror.

“Great, I’ll head down there soon,” said the white terror, known as Torfi. “Just make sure everyone comes and I’ll greet you there.”

***

Torfi was seated on a large rock that overlooked the lake as a large crowd of dragons gathered. The lake reflected the large stalagmites overhead, which sparkled with dew from above. It was quite mesmerizing, as it looked like stars frozen on water. The lake was also clear at the same time, so you could see the millions of cave fish in it. It was almost like a vast deep ocean, enough to carry all the aquatic dragons! Which was Torfi’s plan: move all tidal class dragons to this lake. Yet, he first needed to talk to these dragons.

“Greetings my fellow dragons!” Torfi said, wagging his little tail, yet still somehow having a commanding voice. “I have released you all, and I’m here to ask: should we leave?” All the dragons froze and seemed to look around, trying to figure out their own answer to this question.

Then, a single dragon spoke. A large purple and blue Skrill, so large, it may be considered a Titan. (I’m going off the show’s Titan logic, where titans are just larger versions of the dragon.) She had bright green eyes that shone through the darkness. “I may be the only dragon who was too “rare” to be hatched here.” She said. “But, that does not mean I want to leave, freedom is not for us. I believe we should stay, and form a living here. We all are familiar with each other and could survive. But first, a leader should be decided, otherwise we could never have peace.” She looked around at the dragons surrounding her, until her gaze rested on Torfi. “He, the white terror, should be our king.” She announced gesturing towards Torfi with her wing.

An enraged roar broke the silence. “WHAT!?” Cried out a large blue striped Cavern crasher... it was Buck... one of the champions. “One of the champions should be leader!” He snarled, glaring at the skrill and Torfi. “SHARPSHARD, BLINDSTORM! You agree right?” He roared, turning his head to look at the well-known fighters.

Sharpshard and Blindstorm exchanged glances, and Blindstorm decided to be the one to reply. “Buck, the three of us just know how to fight... Torfi is already a leader... we don’t even have a lead Speedstinger- that one never hatched!” The speedstingers turned their gaze away from Blindstorm. It’s true... the five never got a lead stinger since it died in its egg... could Torfi be an replacement? “Sharpshard and I both agree, Torfi is the only one qualified to lead us.”

The skrill nodded. “Does anyone disagree? Or is it settled?” All of the Dragons started to cheer. “Then greet our new king,” shouted the skrill over all the noise.  “Torfi! The White King!”

Torfi was dazed by this decision. He didn’t even get to say anything... it was just the fact that everyone else trusted him! He noticed Buck glaring at him, before snarling and sliding away from the crowd... he was going to be trouble. His thoughts were interrupted as the skrill flew up next to him.

“Ah, sorry about that my leader.” She said, as she followed his gaze to Buck. “Ignore him, I forgot to introduce myself! I am Kadlin, the Titan skrill.” She grinned at Torfi, “pleased to be at your service.”

Torfi dipped his head towards her. “I am in your debt Kadlin, and for that you shall be my Lieutenant of the throne.” He turned his head back to his pack. “You shall help me as a leader, holding almost the same amount of authority as I. Yet, you shall mostly help me make decisions and tell me of what is occurring in this cavern. Do you accept this rank?”

Kadlin nodded in response. “Now, what shall we do next, my lord?”

“I don’t need to be addressed as ‘my lord’, call me by my name; Torfi.” The terror responded. “First, we must move all aquatic dragons to this lake, and of course inform them of my leadership, and second... I have a few generals I want to establish.”

“Good. The White King’s command will be known throughout this whole place.”
