Dragon Emporium (Adoptables)
There have been a few adoptable-esque threads on this forum and I found them to be quite fun. So I decided to try my hand at this whole adoptable business, welcome to the dragon emporium! Because I suck at digital art, the gimmick of these adoptables is that each one is a different dragon species which I have made up myself. They aren’t necessarily part of the httyd universe, although they could be if you wanted them to.
Rules
If you’re a forum noob like me, then do not fear as these rules outline how you can adopt one of these dragons!
- The dragon emporium will last 7 days from the time of this post
- Each dragon has a number. When you see a dragon that you like, look at the number next to its name.
- Scroll to the VERY BOTTOM of the thread and click reply (do not reply to this post). Then tell me the NUMBER of the dragon you would like.
- This is a first-come first-served process. To make things fair, If you do not follow the first part of rule 3 properly I will kindly remind you to do so before you can adopt. Reason for this is because replying to this post directly will essentially let you cut in line.
- I may take up to 24 hours to respond (hopefully a lot less). If the dragon you want is available, then it is yours! I also have an optional adoption certificate if you want it.
- If you would like an adoption certificate with your dragon, please tell me your name (or what name I should put on it)
- Everyone is limited to one dragon per person.
- Any dragons not adopted after the 7 day period will return if I ever do the dragon emporium again
Feedback
Please give me feedback if you have any. If there is anything I can improve on, or something you’d like to see, I’d love to hear it. If enough people like the dragon emporium, I’ll bring it back with new and possible recurring dragon species! Also, if you liked any of my dragons but were unable to get them, you may add them as “dragons of interest.” If enough people (lets say 5) are interested in a certain dragon species, I’ll bring it back should the dragon emporium return. You can have as many dragons of interest as you’d like, regardless of wether you have adopted a dragon or not.
Credits
You may simply credit me by writing “adopted from Shady Shopkeeper.” (Or something along those lines :D )
The rest is fair game, once you have adopted a dragon, they are yours and I don’t really care what you do with it as long as you do not claim my art as your own.
With that being said, I, the Shady Shopkeeper, welcome you to the dragon emporium!
ooh these look really awesome!

I don't normally post on adopts, BUT THESE ARE TOO AMAZING TO PASS UP!! I'll take number 4! I would do a certificate but I can't think of a good name at the moment x'D dragons of interest are 3 and 10, but quite honestly all these designs are incredible! Your art is so eye appealing, I'll definetly track any art threads you do in the future!
Hey there, I don't normally post anything to art threads, but I really liked your No. 5 dragon. Very interesting indeed. If no one else has already, I'd love to adopt that bad boi.
We're gonna have all SORTS of fun together!
Thank you very much!
Hello! Can I have #11? He looks like a perfect boi :D
I shall name him....
Ash :))
Ooh can I have a certificate?
Dragon name: Ashblood aka Ash
Gender: Male
Name: DefenderBryhild
These are all really creative dragons! May I adopt number 7 please? With an adoption certificate if that's alright. My name's Ginger Looney, and I'll call the dragon censored.
Out of curiosity, what dragons were used in his creation?
Thank you so much!
Unfortunately there's a slight problem with the name.. I didn’t expect the forum to censor my name choice. I'll change it up, hopefully it doesn't happen again.. could you change the dragon's name on the certificate to Spooky please?
XD thanks!
May I have 6? All of the dsigns are so cool, and I love the art style!
Thank you! I think I'll call him Goby. Could I have a certificate?
I'm not adopting, but just wow. You a really talented.
Hey there! I'm just dropping by to say that I completely agree with Joy_The_Terrier!
I find these designs very original. I love the coloring style as well as the selection of the colors themselves, and each dragon has a palette that is really fitting! It's interesting to see how different colors blend together in a way that looks natural and how shading is used to enhance details (such as the blood vessels on the Neo Chimeragon Prototype).
Dragons for Adoption!
1. Spiny Wolfdrake
An aggressive species of dragon that usually live in packs. Their scales and spines are made of a reinforced keratin, which is very hard and durable. These spines can be razor sharp and can cut through wood easily. Despite their amorous look, they are very agile and proficient climbers. The only way to escape them is to dive underwater, as they are poor swimmers. Due to their aggressive nature and high maintenance, his species is not recommended for novice handlers. Please regularly file spines so they are not a hazard.
2. Alpha Spiny Wolfdrake
The spiny wolfdrake’s neck spines never stop growing. Due to this, wolfdrakes constantly engage in violent combat with each other in order to file them down. The Alpha wolfdrake is the best fighter. Because their victories are so swift, their neck spines are never broken and grow out of control. They use these elongated neck spines as a battering ram, as the spines absorb the shock of impact and will impale any enemy. Since the Alpha’s neck spines are not shortened in combat, they will often grind their necks against rocks in order to keep them at a tolerable length. Scratched rocks can also be used to mark territory, be wary if you see one.
*sorry about the claws in the background, I drew some of these on the same paper. If you would like a transparent background please notify me.
3. Lesser Splitjaw
The smaller and tamer cousin of the greater splitjaw, lesser splitjaws are a curious dragon species which will eat just about anything. They are one of the few dragons that eat eels, as it is their preferred type of fish. When threatened, they secrete a neurotoxin from their scales. This toxin tastes bad and will even kill large dragons if a moderate amount is consumed. This toxin is a last resort, as producing it takes a lot of energy.
*If the image is squished I will make sure it is not if you adopt it.
4. Sea Gobbler
Despite their intimidating appearance, these dragons are mostly herbivorous. Their teeth are serrated and act like microscopic combs, filtering the water they suck into their mouths as they feed on algae. Sea Gobblers will open their mouths and suck in water, causing strong currents to be drawn into their mouth. Excess water is expelled through their gills, and any food consumed will be crushed in their gizzard. While they will not actively chase down prey, smaller animals that get sucked into their mouths will be consumed as an additional source of protein. However, their throats are not as big as their mouths and large organisms may become a choking hazard. Sea Gobblers are very docile, and do not have many defence mechanisms. Their sheer size is enough to discourage most from attacking them.
*If the image is squished I will make sure it is not if you adopt it.
5. Emerald Tempestwing
These dragons have an extraordinarily long wingspan which can reach up to 90 feet (27 m). They spend most of their time I the air, as their large wings helps them catch air currents allowing them to fly for a month without stopping. The tempestwing’s wing muscles are so powerful that they are able to deliberately cause hurricanes and strong winds. They also have specialized air sacs near their lungs, allowing them to breathe out whirlwinds of air. These whirlwinds are green because they contain a green powder which the Emerald tempestwing shakes off from in-between its scales. This powder conducts electricity, acting like a lightning rod in storms. Opponents who are hit with this attack become covered with the powder and are more likely to be struck by lightning.
6. Abyssal Raywing
Not much is known about abyssal raywings because they live in deep ocean zones where there is little light. They aren’t actually purple, no one knows what their true colour is outside the dark depths of the trenches they call home. The spots on their underside resemble glowing eyes. It is thought that these eyes are used to scare off predators, but what in the depths could possibly prey on a dragon this size....?
7. NEO-Chimeragon-Prototype-1
“After the first chimeragon was created, we sought to create an even better one. We were supposed to have created the strongest dragon, a Frankenstein’s monster of the most deadly dragon species… I don’t know what went wrong, this was meant to be the perfect dragon, but the project was a disaster. This isn’t what I had envisioned at all, this dragon is a complete failure! If the boss sees that I wasted his investors money on this… he’ll kill me. Please, take it! I don’t want anything to do with this abomination!”
8. Foxwyrm?
“Uhh… is this even a dragon? For one it has 3 tails, which is very rare for foxwyrms. And look at those horns! They’re not even real! This is just an ordinary trickster fox disguised as a dragon! You think you can scam me like this? “
9. Foxwyrm
“Now this here’s a real foxwyrm! Just look at those beautiful horns and tail!”
Foxwyrms can live in a variety of habitat zones, but they are mostly found in wooded areas. They were once hunted for their beautiful fur coats until it was made illegal.
10. Aurora Iceclaw
These dragons are quite proud of their large tusks, which serve many purposes. The iceclaw uses its tusks to compete for mates and for combat against dragons intruding on their territory. Their tusks can also break through the toughest of glacier ice, which is where the iceclaw builds its nest. They get their name from the secondary set of claws found above their primary ones. This extra set of claws is made out of extremely hard ice, and the iceclaw can instantly regrow them should they break.
11. Slithering Bloodfang
A longer subspecies of the traditional bloodfang. This dragon species is nocturnal and has a strong disliking of sunlight. They drink the blood of animals and their preferred prey are large mammals such as yaks and cows. Bloodfangs have camouflage abilities, creating legends about how they disappear into mist. They normally don’t attack people, and won’t drain enough blood to kill their prey. However, the wounds their fangs open may become infected, so farmers surround their animal pens with garlic to keep them at bay. This dragon’s sharp nose makes it very sensitive to strong smells and it seems to hate the smell of garlic in particular.
12. Tawny Owlwyrm
This owlwyrm is a juvenile, you can tell because it still has brown speckles. Adults have solid-coloured plumage. These dragons are proficient nocturnal hunters, and can fly without making any noise.
