Dragon customization - Paint
Ok, so me and a friend both had this same idea (and I won't forget my forum password again XD) so now i'm suggesting it here. PROCEEDING.... it'd be fun to be able to paint the colours onto your dragon the way you want to, like add certain custom markings to make them look more like this or that. There could be lots of different styled brushes, and you could changed the size of the brush too. And you can switch between parts or go into 'freedom' mode, where you can paint anywhere on the dragon. (Youll need to use freedom when adding your own markings) You can't paint on top of textures though. There are also some things that got me thinking, like, people drawing stuff on their dragons that you wouldn't see on a dragon usually. (Example: Drawing of a lady, or a Viking shield). And people writing their phone numbers. And of course, there is a possibility of those who write rude things. So either the admins could somehow make something to block those kind of things from appearing, or we should report the offensive dragon skin. (or just not have this idea added. :P) And finally, I have done some editing, and I now have a good picture of what it might look like:
So.... ye... Lemme know what you guys think of this idea!
Editing by me
The dragon here belongs to whoever took this screenshot (and I'll have you know, I'm sure no bad skins were made. XD)
Cool idea! I wanna see that in game
This is awesome.
But mostly what gets me is the grayscale colors, and the option to pay for the recolor AFTER you pick the colors. You can cancel at any time. THAT'S how it should be.
I can't count all the times I've decided to recolor a dragon, only to not find a better option/goof it up. Then I'm 15 gems more poor.
Admins need to see this. This needs to be passed on to the developers.
It's a fun idea in theory.
However, this would make the game unnecessarily huge and heavy moderation would be required because what's going to stop people from painting offensive or negative material on their dragons, like you said? You cannot block out certain 'strokes', that stuff is way too advanced.
The painting part would also require a toolset to work with. Painting onto 3D models is nothing short of obnoxious if you don't use software specifically designed for it. I doubt that anyone in the SoD team would feel like making something like that; there's more important matters to handle.
Custom textures-- unique skins for dragons would slow down the game greatly. Imagine having to load every unqiue dragon skin there is, and no one ever uses a duplicate skin. Performance would take a great hit and since the game already has the tendency to be laggy despite my having a PC that is well up for the task, I really wouldn't want the game to be slower.
That'd be amazing! It would be MORE amazing if they let you do it on Toothless... kekekekeke....
